<v Speaker 1>Wednesday, April twenty nine, twenty twenty six, you are listening
<v Speaker 1>to the Daily Dose Sports podcast and I am your host,
<v Speaker 1>Clinton Daily, coming to you from my high ced here
<v Speaker 1>in Denver, Colorado, and we are back for another week
<v Speaker 1>of talking sports with a dose of common sense. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>Happy Wednesday to you. Hope you're having a good week.
<v Speaker 1>Hope the week is going well for you, and that you,
<v Speaker 1>your family, your friends, everyone in your world is staying
<v Speaker 1>strong and healthy right now. And of course those NBA
<v Speaker 1>and Stanley Cup playoffs are rolling along right now. And
<v Speaker 1>you know, it's kind of interesting because we're seeing a
<v Speaker 1>couple of favorites stumbling in the NBA. And you know
<v Speaker 1>it's interesting. When I was coaching in high school, we
<v Speaker 1>used to always say, in big games, your true strength
<v Speaker 1>can show. But in big games, your biggest flaws will
<v Speaker 1>also show. And we are seeing exactly that right now
<v Speaker 1>in the NBA playoffs over in the Eastern Conference. The
<v Speaker 1>number one seed Detroit Pistons. Yeah, they're now down three
<v Speaker 1>to one to the number eight Orlando Magic. Why because
<v Speaker 1>their biggest flaws are showing. Here's the problem for the Pistons.
<v Speaker 1>They don't have anyone that can just go get a
<v Speaker 1>bucket when they absolutely need it besides Kate Cunningham. So
<v Speaker 1>when the magic decides, Hey, whoever scores, it's not gonna
<v Speaker 1>be kid. We're going to blanket him on every single play.
<v Speaker 1>Someone else has to step up, and apparently no one
<v Speaker 1>else is capable of doing that. I mean, it's not over,
<v Speaker 1>but the Pistons have some serious problems. They're gonna have
<v Speaker 1>to find a way to now win three games in
<v Speaker 1>a row. It's not just in the East. We have
<v Speaker 1>an upset brewing in the West as well. As My
<v Speaker 1>number three Denver Nuggets are now down three to two
<v Speaker 1>against the number six Minnesota Timberwolves. But it's the exact
<v Speaker 1>same situation. The Nuggets have just been outscoring teams all year.
<v Speaker 1>That's wonderful, but their defense is atrocious, and the Timberwolves
<v Speaker 1>have kind of put the clamps on Nikley Yelkic and
<v Speaker 1>that offense. So now the terrible defense that they just
<v Speaker 1>don't play at all is front and center for everyone
<v Speaker 1>to see. It's not just that the Nuggets have a
<v Speaker 1>disadvantage at head coach. Their role players are getting out played,
<v Speaker 1>especially when they are on the road. Now, having said that,
<v Speaker 1>this series it's not quite over yet. The Nuggets avoided
<v Speaker 1>elimination on Monday night, and with the Timberwolves losing both
<v Speaker 1>Anthony Edwards and Dante Devincenzo to injuries, I mean the
<v Speaker 1>Nuggets could get rolling and get back in this. Remember
<v Speaker 1>they did come back from a three to one deficit
<v Speaker 1>in the Bubble, but that's not the same. Nothing about
<v Speaker 1>the Bubble was the same. There wasn't a road crowd,
<v Speaker 1>there wasn't a home crowd. It's not the same. That
<v Speaker 1>Bubble season honestly could just be thrown out. Now. The
<v Speaker 1>Nuggets and the Wolves will be squaring up on Thursday
<v Speaker 1>night in Game six. If Denver wins that the final
<v Speaker 1>Game seven will come back to the Mile High City.
<v Speaker 1>If not, the Timberwolves will advance and move on. Now,
<v Speaker 1>if I had to bet, honestly, I take the Wolves
<v Speaker 1>at home because the Nuggets can't play defense and they
<v Speaker 1>have very little toughness on that roster. One added note
<v Speaker 1>in that series, I've been asked a few times by
<v Speaker 1>listeners as a coach, what I thought of that whole
<v Speaker 1>Nikola Jokic, Jaden McDaniel's little tiff they had at the
<v Speaker 1>end of Game two. I believe it was whether Timberwolves
<v Speaker 1>were up like fourteen, and McDaniels got the ball with
<v Speaker 1>seconds remaining and he didn't just dribble the ball out,
<v Speaker 1>he scored a basket instead. Nicola Yolkic took offense to that.
<v Speaker 1>He ran down there and then an NBA fight ensued,
<v Speaker 1>complete with pushing and I don't know guys saying hold
<v Speaker 1>me back. Nothing really happened. Was McDaniels wrong for scoring, No,
<v Speaker 1>not necessarily. I mean, you can do anything once, right.
<v Speaker 1>Remember there may be repercussions later, but there's nothing inherently
<v Speaker 1>wrong with scoring. They should have stopped you. Was Yolkic
<v Speaker 1>wrong for being offended by McDaniel's scoring, Again, not necessarily,
<v Speaker 1>although he probably should have been offended for the other
<v Speaker 1>points McDaniels scored that night when the game was in
<v Speaker 1>the balance. But I mean, remember back in the eighties
<v Speaker 1>and nineties, you did something like that, you might get
<v Speaker 1>your head busted open. It was a different league then.
<v Speaker 1>This whole skirmish thing, to me, it was a lot
<v Speaker 1>to do about nothing. There were no punches, there was
<v Speaker 1>no blood, there was really no nothing typical of the
<v Speaker 1>NBA today. These just aren't very tough guys hate. Today
<v Speaker 1>on the DOSK, we are going to be recapping that
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty six NFL draft. Is it way too early
<v Speaker 1>to hand out winners and losers? Yeah? Probably? Do we care? No,
<v Speaker 1>not really. In fact, we have so much to get
<v Speaker 1>to we need to jump in right now. Joining us
<v Speaker 1>this week on the Daily Deals, we have our illustrious
<v Speaker 1>panel of NFL experts. We are going to be wrapping
<v Speaker 1>up that twenty twenty six NFL Draft. And you might
<v Speaker 1>notice we are short one person on the panel today
<v Speaker 1>because Big Rob had some things he needed to attend to.
<v Speaker 1>Let's just put it that way. I think Rob was
<v Speaker 1>chasing something or other this week and he couldn't make
<v Speaker 1>it in. So it'll just be the three Bulls.
<v Speaker 2>Not to worry, I'll tell them a to d It'll
<v Speaker 2>just be the three Bulls.
<v Speaker 1>First up, we have Mike out in Castle Rock on
<v Speaker 1>the Colorado Planes. Which Colorado based team is annoying you
<v Speaker 1>the most? Right now?
<v Speaker 3>Would you say, oh, it's gotta be the Nuggets.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And you know why because of those expectations, because
<v Speaker 1>the Rockies were just used to being horrible. The Broncos
<v Speaker 1>are kind of out of season. We're at least feeling
<v Speaker 1>okay about them. But the Nuggets, they're hurting our feelings
<v Speaker 1>right now. That has been absolutely horrible and really really die.
<v Speaker 2>The fact that the Rockies have more wins now than
<v Speaker 2>they did in mid July last year.
<v Speaker 1>We're fueling strong about the Rockies this year.
<v Speaker 3>Is a little bit encouraging.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, it's Nuggets are hurting us.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, yes they are. Yeah, it's it's October early this year,
<v Speaker 1>I guess apparently because they're actually doing kind of some
<v Speaker 1>things right and I think we might actually have some
<v Speaker 1>moves in ownership trending in the right direction, so that's positive.
<v Speaker 1>Next up, we have the savvy veteran do you Pioneer
<v Speaker 1>Bronco fan, Avalanche fan, Nuggets fan? Some times it's how
<v Speaker 1>you fan? Larry from Centennial Larry? Have you been skiing
<v Speaker 1>at all this year?
<v Speaker 4>Yes?
<v Speaker 1>And how warm was the water?
<v Speaker 5>Although I've forgotten how out how the water was. It's
<v Speaker 5>been that long. It's been at least a month or
<v Speaker 5>so since we hung them up, But you know it's
<v Speaker 5>it's been good hiking for the last month and a half, right.
<v Speaker 1>Sure, Yeah, Mike's up there hiking. Yeah, you guys are
<v Speaker 1>probably passing each other as you go by, because yeah,
<v Speaker 1>hiking is all we have right now because we're not
<v Speaker 1>getting the snow in the state. And I don't know why,
<v Speaker 1>because the lot of the country is under snow. We
<v Speaker 1>can't get a flake here, gentlemen, The twenty twenty six
<v Speaker 1>NFL Draft is now in the books. Was it a
<v Speaker 1>great draft?
<v Speaker 4>No?
<v Speaker 1>Probably not. Will it be a memorable draft? Again, probably not.
<v Speaker 1>Is it the worst draft class of all time? I
<v Speaker 1>don't think it is. But we did see some winners,
<v Speaker 1>we did see some losers, and yes, it is way
<v Speaker 1>too early to say how these things are going to
<v Speaker 1>bode long term, but we don't care. We're gonna do
<v Speaker 1>it anyway. Let's tee this up to Larry. Larry, do
<v Speaker 1>you have a winner from this twenty twenty six NFL draft?
<v Speaker 1>And we'll kind of go around the horn and get
<v Speaker 1>some winners and get some losers, But do you have
<v Speaker 1>a winner?
<v Speaker 3>Well?
<v Speaker 4>I think that I would put Cleveland on my list
<v Speaker 4>of winning. You're right, they had a ton of draft picks.
<v Speaker 5>It looks like they drafted smart and we'll see right obviously,
<v Speaker 5>but yeah, I put Cleveland on that list.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I agree with you. You know, I thought when
<v Speaker 1>Cleveland was on the on the board that early. I
<v Speaker 1>think they were at number six, and I'm going, oh,
<v Speaker 1>they're gonna take something shiny, They're gonna take something they
<v Speaker 1>shouldn't take. They need to go get some offensive line help.
<v Speaker 1>And they actually did it. They actually made sense. They
<v Speaker 1>went and got Spencer Frowno, big offensive lineman. We'll see
<v Speaker 1>if he's big enough, if his if his reach is enough.
<v Speaker 1>But they needed that. And then they went and got
<v Speaker 1>a few wide receivers. I like the conception kid out
<v Speaker 1>of a and m I think they actually did things
<v Speaker 1>that made sense. I can't believe I'm saying that, but
<v Speaker 1>I'm saying that. Yeah, I agree with you, Larry. I
<v Speaker 1>think Cleveland was actually actually pretty good. Mike, who's your
<v Speaker 1>first winner? Who do you have?
<v Speaker 2>I think the Giants did exactly what they needed to do.
<v Speaker 2>A stud linebacker and a starting tackle. I think they
<v Speaker 2>took full advantage of having two top ten picks there.
<v Speaker 3>Well.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and that's a good point, because they did. They
<v Speaker 1>have two guys in the first ten picks John Harbaugh,
<v Speaker 1>maybe he's already rubbing off. They went out and got
<v Speaker 1>a couple of guys that can upgrade that defense. And
<v Speaker 1>we saw first hand in in Denver that defense needs
<v Speaker 1>to be upgraded because I think, yep, Bonix just scored
<v Speaker 1>again on the Giants defense, so and that's been a
<v Speaker 1>few months ago, So yeah, I would agree with that.
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to I'm gonna throw out another winner on
<v Speaker 1>my end, and I'm going to give NFL teams a
<v Speaker 1>little free advice. You don't have to listen if you
<v Speaker 1>don't want you, but it's going to help you in
<v Speaker 1>the long run if you do. If your color id
<v Speaker 1>says how Rosman, don't answer because you're about to get fleeced. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>the Philadelphia Eagles, the draft was solid, The draft was okay.
<v Speaker 1>They went out and they got the wide receiver Makayle
<v Speaker 1>Lemonett at USC and they probably need him because it
<v Speaker 1>looks like AJ Brown, I believe. And they went and
<v Speaker 1>got Eli Stowers out of and Andy and they need
<v Speaker 1>some targets in the offensive passing game especially. But that
<v Speaker 1>wasn't even where they get the winner for me. They
<v Speaker 1>went and sent to like third rounders the Minnesota and
<v Speaker 1>got an outside linebacker and Jonathan Grenard. That is exactly
<v Speaker 1>what they need. They fill a need they do. I'm
<v Speaker 1>the cheap again. Roseman is fleecing the NFL. I don't
<v Speaker 1>get it. I don't understand why people are doing deals
<v Speaker 1>with him, but they are. And the Eagles, I think
<v Speaker 1>one again. They just keep winning the NFL Draft over
<v Speaker 1>and over again. All right, Larry, we're up to you.
<v Speaker 1>Who is your first loser so far?
<v Speaker 5>Well, I this is gonna sound funny, but I was
<v Speaker 5>concentrating on the home team, right, and I think I
<v Speaker 5>put the never Broncos in the loser category.
<v Speaker 4>Now, I'm not saying their picks were losers.
<v Speaker 5>I think they had some good picks, but man, they
<v Speaker 5>didn't have They didn't pick in the top two rounds, right,
<v Speaker 5>And I.
<v Speaker 4>Think that hurts, right, it has to. There is a.
<v Speaker 5>Talent drop off between what mid first round and then
<v Speaker 5>you know everybody else, I guess.
<v Speaker 4>But and so if you.
<v Speaker 5>Don't have a shot at some of those high end talents,
<v Speaker 5>that that's going to hurt you eventually.
<v Speaker 4>Again, it was more of a just you know, they didn't.
<v Speaker 1>Have a lack of picks.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, lack of.
<v Speaker 5>Top quality or top tier picks. So yeah, that's where
<v Speaker 5>I go with.
<v Speaker 1>And I understand and so many of their picks not
<v Speaker 1>only were they not in the in the top. We
<v Speaker 1>know they traded with their first round pick and picked
<v Speaker 1>up jail and water from Miami, so we get that.
<v Speaker 1>But then a lot of the picks they did have,
<v Speaker 1>they were like the end of the seventh round. They
<v Speaker 1>were like compensatory picks because they have done so many
<v Speaker 1>shuffles and so many, you know, so many trades. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>they just didn't have many picks, and the ones that
<v Speaker 1>they did have were really really late. Yeah, I can
<v Speaker 1>understand that. I actually like some of the picks they made,
<v Speaker 1>but you're right, they were way way later in the taking.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, I get that, Mike, who's your first loser?
<v Speaker 2>Well, you got a team that's in a super Bowl window.
<v Speaker 2>I believe that they are a favorite to come out
<v Speaker 2>of the NFC. You've only got five picks in the
<v Speaker 2>entire draft, and you take your first pick for a
<v Speaker 2>guy who's not going to see the field. I don't
<v Speaker 2>get what the Rams did with the draft.
<v Speaker 1>I don't I don't eat it. If I were to
<v Speaker 1>ask you what NFL team currently has the highest Vegas
<v Speaker 1>odds of going to the Super Bowl, it is the
<v Speaker 1>Rams right now, and they go use what was it
<v Speaker 1>at number thirteen? Thirteen on a guy, by the way,
<v Speaker 1>who is not in any way a done deal. Not
<v Speaker 1>only do you not necessarily need him, because you do
<v Speaker 1>have a backup in Winston better whoever it is, but
<v Speaker 1>a guy that isn't proven at all. He's played like
<v Speaker 1>fifteen games in his entire collegiate career. They go get
<v Speaker 1>Ty Simpson out of Alabama. The fifteen games weren't that
<v Speaker 1>impressive either. And here's the problem that I have with
<v Speaker 1>it too. And this panel knows this very very well
<v Speaker 1>because we remember when this happened in Denver in ninety
<v Speaker 1>two and the Denver Broncos went out got Tommy Maddox
<v Speaker 1>when John Elway is begging for another wide receiver, he's
<v Speaker 1>begging for a skill position guy, and they go get
<v Speaker 1>Tommy Maddocks out of UCLA. Hey, that doesn't usually go well.
<v Speaker 1>Now you've split your locker room. Now you've ticked off
<v Speaker 1>your coaching staff. Yeah, I don't like that. I don't
<v Speaker 1>like that at all. I had the Rams as a
<v Speaker 1>loser as well.
<v Speaker 5>I will say, you know, I did see the coverage
<v Speaker 5>and it didn't look like their head coach was happy
<v Speaker 5>with the pick over, so they were not in alignment.
<v Speaker 1>On that agreed, and it almost felt like that was
<v Speaker 1>a power struggle between the front office and their head coach.
<v Speaker 1>And I think that might be what it was. And
<v Speaker 1>if it was Rams, I know you're gonna be the
<v Speaker 1>You're gonna be the super Bowl favorite this year, especially
<v Speaker 1>coming out of the NFC, I might start getting a
<v Speaker 1>little bit nervous about that. I don't like how that
<v Speaker 1>played out.
<v Speaker 2>I was just gonna say, I think the kid would
<v Speaker 2>have been available in the third or fourth round.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, that's exactly You're exactly right. You're exactly right. And
<v Speaker 1>that's that's the problem is they could have waited that.
<v Speaker 1>There wasn't anybody trying to race to go get tys Simpson.
<v Speaker 1>I think they could have got him much later. I
<v Speaker 1>just don't understand it. I'm going to give a loser.
<v Speaker 3>Receivers available at that slot.
<v Speaker 1>And they need and they need another wide receiver. Puka
<v Speaker 1>is the guy, and that not much else after him.
<v Speaker 1>They could have used another wide receiver. I don't understand
<v Speaker 1>the thinking. I don't Maybe it is a power struggle
<v Speaker 1>in that front office. I don't know. I'm going to
<v Speaker 1>give a loser and I'm going to give it to
<v Speaker 1>ESPN for the coverage of the NFL Draft. If you
<v Speaker 1>missed it, the draft changed the first round. I think
<v Speaker 1>it used to be like fifteen minutes between picks to
<v Speaker 1>like eight minutes. What fifteen to like ten? Well this
<v Speaker 1>year was eight. Apparently no one told ESPN because they
<v Speaker 1>were so far behind in the picks. They were like
<v Speaker 1>a full ten minutes and like two picks behind. And
<v Speaker 1>I try to staff like social media, I don't want
<v Speaker 1>to know. I want to watch the you know, the
<v Speaker 1>live reactions or whatever. I couldn't. There was no way
<v Speaker 1>they were so far behind. It was so bad. In fact,
<v Speaker 1>it was so bad that the that ESPN and the
<v Speaker 1>NFL network, they actually made the top pick Las Vegas Raiders,
<v Speaker 1>uh number one overall pick for Nannaman does that he
<v Speaker 1>had to pretend to get picked again, and you can
<v Speaker 1>see it. There are two different reactions from NFL Network
<v Speaker 1>to ESPN. ESPN, what are you doing? I've got head
<v Speaker 1>the worldwide leader in sports. You couldn't keep up better
<v Speaker 1>than that catch up that was that was painful.
<v Speaker 2>With a three quarter mile walk from the room to
<v Speaker 2>the stoe.
<v Speaker 1>Oh my goodness, all the way down that long hallway
<v Speaker 1>and they're touching all the logos. Just get them up
<v Speaker 1>on stage. We don't need him to have to take
<v Speaker 1>a jog. Yeah, it wasn't very good. ESPN needs to
<v Speaker 1>do a better job with that. All right, We're going
<v Speaker 1>back around, Larry. If you got another winner for.
<v Speaker 4>Us, I do.
<v Speaker 5>But it's a it's a package because I think the
<v Speaker 5>AFC West did a pretty good job all around. Like
<v Speaker 5>Kansas City got better, Chargers got better, and believe it
<v Speaker 5>or not, I think the Raiders got better.
<v Speaker 1>I hope they did.
<v Speaker 5>I put the Raiders up there as far as winners go,
<v Speaker 5>but as a whole, I think the AFC West has
<v Speaker 5>kind of nailed it for the most part.
<v Speaker 1>That division is going to be tough again this year.
<v Speaker 1>And I know this last year with injuries, it kind
<v Speaker 1>of dropped a little bit, especially from the standpoint of
<v Speaker 1>Kansas City. We'll see how they end up bouncing back
<v Speaker 1>and if that defense. Is Kansas City still a Super
<v Speaker 1>Bowl contender? And I know, I know it's early to
<v Speaker 1>ask that right now, but is Kansas City still a
<v Speaker 1>Super Bowl contender? Because the offense is taking a step back.
<v Speaker 1>Kelsey's a year older. We don't know when Mahomes is
<v Speaker 1>going to be fully ready to go. They're going to
<v Speaker 1>be really really interesting to watch this year. I really
<v Speaker 1>like what the Charges did. I think the Chargers kind
<v Speaker 1>of killed it again. They keep making good, good moves.
<v Speaker 1>The Raiders, I like what they did. I'm not sure
<v Speaker 1>about having Kirk Cousins as the mentor, but you do
<v Speaker 1>you I understand it. I'm just not yeah that I'm
<v Speaker 1>fulling on that, but yeah, yea this too.
<v Speaker 5>Clint Like whether he's the mentor or not, he's at
<v Speaker 5>least agreed, you know, to be Yeah, some sort of mentor,
<v Speaker 5>so that that works. And if you look at the
<v Speaker 5>coach QB combo in the AMC West, it's.
<v Speaker 1>Like getting it's getting nasty. Yeah, yeah, no, you're right,
<v Speaker 1>you're exactly right there, Mikeu's your next winter. You have
<v Speaker 1>another winner for us.
<v Speaker 2>I actually kind of like what Buffalo did. No big
<v Speaker 2>splashy picks, but they didn't see what they liked when
<v Speaker 2>their first rent they ended up training.
<v Speaker 3>Did they picked ten guy?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, they actually took quite a haul. And and when
<v Speaker 1>you're looking at what they had to start with, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>because I think they traded down twice.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, trade down twice, ended up making ten picks.
<v Speaker 2>So build some death, maybe pull a couple of starters
<v Speaker 2>out of there. I think I like what they did.
<v Speaker 1>Sure, And when you're talking about that team, you're talking about, Hey,
<v Speaker 1>how can we pop pssibly get some more help on
<v Speaker 1>this team? How can we somehow get Josh Allen to
<v Speaker 1>win something. I know he's getting compared to John Owie,
<v Speaker 1>but he's got to win a lot more, you know,
<v Speaker 1>playoff games before he can really we can really make
<v Speaker 1>that comparison. But they've got to get him some more
<v Speaker 1>help because he's not Genoway. Sorry, I'm gonna give a winner,
<v Speaker 1>and I'm gonna give it to one special group as well.
<v Speaker 1>If you have a child and you want them to
<v Speaker 1>get drafted into the NFL, I hope they're big because
<v Speaker 1>offensive linemen are at a premium in this league. In
<v Speaker 1>the sixth rounds of the NFL draft, there are two
<v Speaker 1>hundred and fifty seven players drafted. Fifty of them we're
<v Speaker 1>offensive linemen alone. By comparison, twenty seven defensive lineman, thirty
<v Speaker 1>seven wide receivers, not bad ten quarterbacks. Offensive lineman is
<v Speaker 1>where it is at because it is so difficult to
<v Speaker 1>play that position. It is so difficult to find quality
<v Speaker 1>offensive lineman. Everyone is on the look for a good
<v Speaker 1>offensive lineman. If you can find a bargain, you're gonna
<v Speaker 1>draft him. They don't always get the recognition, they don't
<v Speaker 1>get the big contracts always, but offensive linemen are a
<v Speaker 1>big winner in this draft for sure, because there was
<v Speaker 1>a bunch of them taken. All Right, Larry got another
<v Speaker 1>loser for us. Let's go, let's go losers again.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I got a loser Pittsburgh.
<v Speaker 5>I think I don't know if they did anything to
<v Speaker 5>improve their team. And this is less draft related, but
<v Speaker 5>it could have been draft related. They're waiting on Aaron
<v Speaker 5>Rodgers again, and they're willing participants in the circus, right so,
<v Speaker 5>And I know they did beef the team up a
<v Speaker 5>little bit, but I don't know that they've taken care
<v Speaker 5>of anything that is going to win them a playoff game.
<v Speaker 1>Well, and did you see the late pick of the quarterback?
<v Speaker 1>They select Drew Aller out of Pittsburgh and he grew
<v Speaker 1>up a Browns fan. He doesn't want to put the
<v Speaker 1>hat on. He looks at the hat and he's like,
<v Speaker 1>kind of picks his nose for a minute. He looks
<v Speaker 1>at the hat again. You're like, he doesn't want to
<v Speaker 1>put it on, Like, I don't know. That might not
<v Speaker 1>be a good good situation there, but yeah, there is.
<v Speaker 1>Like you said, they're still waiting around a Rogers. I
<v Speaker 1>think he's probably gonna come back. But again, you're waiting
<v Speaker 1>around for something that we already kind of know how
<v Speaker 1>this story ends.
<v Speaker 4>So yeah, really makes no sense.
<v Speaker 5>I mean, if you've got if you know, every other
<v Speaker 5>team in the league knows what holes they need to
<v Speaker 5>fill by the time the draft comes around, right, but
<v Speaker 5>they tend to not want to know what's going on.
<v Speaker 1>I guess, so I guess. Hey, they got Mike McCarthy though,
<v Speaker 1>Andrew all and Drew Aller who doesn't want to be there.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, yeah, I could. I could see making Pittsburgh
<v Speaker 1>loser for sure. Mike, you got in another loser force.
<v Speaker 3>I didn't like Jacksonville's draft.
<v Speaker 1>I didn't either.
<v Speaker 3>I thought that was.
<v Speaker 2>I thought there might have been two or other two
<v Speaker 2>or three other tight ends that I would have taken
<v Speaker 2>ahead of the guy who's ready to apply for Medicaid already.
<v Speaker 4>Red.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, he's gonna be twenty five on Game one, so
<v Speaker 2>that was an interesting pick. I just didn't like anything
<v Speaker 2>that they did. I didn't like Jacksonville's draft at all.
<v Speaker 1>Well, and some of what Jacksonville did, we have to remember,
<v Speaker 1>goes back to last year's you know, where they they
<v Speaker 1>did that big trade. They go up and get Travis
<v Speaker 1>Hunter and everybody's all excited, and I understand it, But
<v Speaker 1>then the same thing, you're out of picks. Now you
<v Speaker 1>don't have any picks, and the picks you do have
<v Speaker 1>you better hit home runs on because you don't have
<v Speaker 1>many of them. So yeah, I would I would agree
<v Speaker 1>with that. I didn't.
<v Speaker 5>That's one of those deals where like last year's draft
<v Speaker 5>completely impacted this year's draft.
<v Speaker 1>Right, it's big and.
<v Speaker 5>If it didn't work out last year, boy, yeah they
<v Speaker 5>had a hold and dig out of then they probably
<v Speaker 5>did not do that.
<v Speaker 1>Right, right, And and you know, by the end of
<v Speaker 1>the year last year, I was really liking what Jacksonville
<v Speaker 1>had done, what they're what they were doing, and where
<v Speaker 1>they were going. I haven't liked their offseason that much.
<v Speaker 1>We'll kind of keep an eye on that. I'm going
<v Speaker 1>to give a loser, you know, when you when you
<v Speaker 1>hear that phrase, Hey, this team knew who they wanted
<v Speaker 1>and they targeted him, and they went and got him
<v Speaker 1>and where they got him is kind of insignificant. Just
<v Speaker 1>go get him. Yeah, these are the same people that
<v Speaker 1>you want to make sure you sell your house to,
<v Speaker 1>you sell your car to, you sell some beach frump
<v Speaker 1>property and Wyoming to. Because the idea that these picks
<v Speaker 1>don't have value is insane to me. Yes, you can
<v Speaker 1>use a first round pick to go get a third
<v Speaker 1>round guy if you want to. But these picks have value.
<v Speaker 1>You could have traded back and picked up more picks.
<v Speaker 1>You could have traded back and got more players. I
<v Speaker 1>don't understand why these so called experts keep saying that
<v Speaker 1>it's idiotic. There is value to a pick, use them wisely.
<v Speaker 1>I just I don't get it, and we hear it
<v Speaker 1>every year. I don't understand it. All right, I remember,
<v Speaker 1>you should be stopping by Daily doosports dot com every
<v Speaker 1>week to check out the new things we have going

<v Speaker 1>Denver Broncos. So make sure you're stopping by there. Plus,
<v Speaker 1>you can pick up Daily dose Gier if you are

<v Speaker 1>from listeners on the regular and we would love to
<v Speaker 1>hear from you, so feel free to reach out. Larry,
<v Speaker 1>you got a final winner for us.
<v Speaker 4>Let's see. Well, you know, as hard as it is
<v Speaker 4>to say that, I think Dallas had a good draft,
<v Speaker 4>You're right, I do they.
<v Speaker 5>You know, and it comes out of nowhere, right, because
<v Speaker 5>of course, every draft Jerry Jones has gone through has
<v Speaker 5>been the best draft he's ever had. But of course,
<v Speaker 5>but no, I think they did a good job. They
<v Speaker 5>have solid, solid picks, and I think they'll they you know,
<v Speaker 5>will be the real deal come time to compete with Philadelphia.
<v Speaker 4>Right.
<v Speaker 1>Well, and at least they addressed me, because again, how
<v Speaker 1>many times have we seen them. You know, that defense
<v Speaker 1>has been terrible for what a decade now. Last year
<v Speaker 1>they gave up six yards of play and I think
<v Speaker 1>thirty points a game. They actually went out and drafted
<v Speaker 1>defensive guys. Here's how bad Dallas has been. We're giving
<v Speaker 1>them credit for doing what they should have been doing
<v Speaker 1>all the time. But but we have to because they
<v Speaker 1>haven't done it. I'm going to assume, until proven otherwise,
<v Speaker 1>that Jerry Jones fell asleep and they just told him
<v Speaker 1>he got picked, because there's no way he was involved.
<v Speaker 4>They clicked the autopilot.
<v Speaker 1>He signed it with an auto pin. Yes, good point, Larry,
<v Speaker 1>Well well done bringing the Jerry Jones Joe Biden comparison.
<v Speaker 1>Outstanding work on your end, Mike, who's your who's your
<v Speaker 1>final winner?
<v Speaker 3>I like what the Jets did.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, it's it's hard to miss when you have
<v Speaker 2>three first rounders.
<v Speaker 3>Again, just like the Giants. But I mean, you.
<v Speaker 2>Know, the first pick overall, it might be some or
<v Speaker 2>for them might be some controversy.
<v Speaker 3>Ast did they pick the right guy? But they did
<v Speaker 3>get a stud right? We all love the tight end?
<v Speaker 2>Uh, they picked right, I mean an absolute freak Okay
<v Speaker 2>I wanted him and who didn't?
<v Speaker 3>Right?
<v Speaker 2>And then and then a very good probably starting wide receivers.
<v Speaker 2>I think they absolutely nailed the first round. I think
<v Speaker 2>they pick a over pick a quarterback in the first round, right, viz,
<v Speaker 2>they need one, right, they do need one. They went
<v Speaker 2>with skill players, and I think the Jets had a
<v Speaker 2>very good draft.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, which is again which is completely foreign for us
<v Speaker 1>to see them not jack it up, but they it
<v Speaker 1>looks like they actually got picked of need and well
<v Speaker 1>they kind of need everything, but they actually did it
<v Speaker 1>this time. They don't always do that. I'm going to
<v Speaker 1>give my final winner, and I'm going to give it
<v Speaker 1>to a very specific party. Might not be popular, but
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to give a winner to homeschooled kids. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>they're not going to look you in the eye. They
<v Speaker 1>probably are wearing a helmet even when they're not riding
<v Speaker 1>their bikes. But after seeing the success of Indiana quarterback
<v Speaker 1>Fernando Mendoza, these kids are looking at life a little
<v Speaker 1>bit differently because they know now they can do it.
<v Speaker 1>They might fake cry after a big game when they
<v Speaker 1>get drafted, it's going to be like an awkward celebration
<v Speaker 1>of miss high fives and stuff like that. But congrats
<v Speaker 1>to for Dan Doo and all those homeschooled kids all
<v Speaker 1>over the world. Also, Las Vegas is gonna be rough
<v Speaker 1>because when those lights are blinking, be careful as all
<v Speaker 1>as I'm saying to those same homeschool kids, don't let
<v Speaker 1>those flashing lights throw you off. I don't want to
<v Speaker 1>see you what your pants and forget who you are.
<v Speaker 1>For twenty minutes, but homeschool kids outstanding job. All right,
<v Speaker 1>we're gonna go around the horn. Won last time, Larry,
<v Speaker 1>give us your final loser of the twenty twenty six
<v Speaker 1>NFL Draft.
<v Speaker 5>Well, it's not a loser in the in the sense
<v Speaker 5>that the guy's a loser, but on an individual basis, man,
<v Speaker 5>it was that Tremrow McCoy. Yeah, just you know, and
<v Speaker 5>it was kind of unfair to him, right, like everybody
<v Speaker 5>had him ranked high. The guy had obviously has health problems,
<v Speaker 5>need problems, and then you know, just dropped off the cliffs.
<v Speaker 4>So I felt bad for the guy.
<v Speaker 5>He's not a loser, but he ended up being one,
<v Speaker 5>just based on how everybody where, everybody had him, you
<v Speaker 5>know ranked.
<v Speaker 3>Right.
<v Speaker 1>Hey, we've seen it for years, those guys sitting in
<v Speaker 1>that green room and they're just sweating and their girlfriend
<v Speaker 1>is getting nervous and they want to go home. And no,
<v Speaker 1>it's somebody. It happens to somebody every year, and it's
<v Speaker 1>always painful. He's probably going to end up being a
<v Speaker 1>very good player. But you're right that night, No, he's
<v Speaker 1>a loser because that has to be brutal to have
<v Speaker 1>to live through that. Agree with you one hundred percent. Mike,
<v Speaker 1>who is your final loser of this NFL draft?
<v Speaker 2>I've got it's It's hard to say this because I
<v Speaker 2>love the coach and the GM, but I think the
<v Speaker 2>San Francisco coach forty nine ers did not have a
<v Speaker 2>very good draft.
<v Speaker 1>I agree with you.
<v Speaker 2>I a surface you think is such a well run organization,
<v Speaker 2>but almost every one of their picks was a reach.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And when you look back, especially recently, a lot
<v Speaker 1>of their picks are reaches. And again, like you said,
<v Speaker 1>that's a guy we like, we love John Lynch. They
<v Speaker 1>we're rooting for that, that group, we're rooting for Shanahan,
<v Speaker 1>And it kind of seems like, I don't know, they're
<v Speaker 1>they're hitting a rough patch or maybe it wasn't all
<v Speaker 1>it was supposed to be or something, but something's funky
<v Speaker 1>in San Francisco. And like you said, every single pick,
<v Speaker 1>I was like him, really Okay. I don't know. San
<v Speaker 1>Francisco might be in for a bit of a again,
<v Speaker 1>another year where they just kind of struggle. Hey, Shanahan's
<v Speaker 1>a great coach, They're gonna be competitive, but I feel
<v Speaker 1>like they're starting to lose that level of talent that
<v Speaker 1>they did have for so many years, seems like it's
<v Speaker 1>starting to fall a little bit. So yeah, I would
<v Speaker 1>understand that I'm gonna give my final loser, and I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna give it to those Arizona Cardinals. Here's the problem.
<v Speaker 1>I like their top pick. In fact, I love their
<v Speaker 1>top pick, Notre Dame running back Jeremiah Love. I think
<v Speaker 1>might have been the best player in this draft. But
<v Speaker 1>the Cardinals don't have an offensive line, they don't have
<v Speaker 1>a quarterback, they have no defense, and they use the
<v Speaker 1>number three overall pick on a running back. Did they
<v Speaker 1>learn nothing by watching the Raiders last year drafting Ashton
<v Speaker 1>Genty way too early, and all the kid did was
<v Speaker 1>get beat up all year. And then they're looking around
<v Speaker 1>like what we thought he was gonna be good? It
<v Speaker 1>isn't his fault and it won't be Love's fault when
<v Speaker 1>he gets hammered on every single play. But don't break
<v Speaker 1>this kid because you didn't surround him with enough talent.
<v Speaker 1>And I just worried that Arizona doesn't have enough talent
<v Speaker 1>to support this kid. And I know I heard all
<v Speaker 1>the experts saying he's a superstar, he's one in a million.
<v Speaker 1>He's not one in a million. If he's getting beat
<v Speaker 1>up on every single play, and I think he is
<v Speaker 1>going to so I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I
<v Speaker 1>love that pick plus at Arizona, so you know it
<v Speaker 1>probably is gonna go well in general. All Right, gentlemen,
<v Speaker 1>we have finished up our winners and losers of the
<v Speaker 1>NFL Draft. You know, I'm a whole that draft. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know if it was filled with many memorable moments.
<v Speaker 1>Kind of a boring draft, but we could still get
<v Speaker 1>some very solid players coming out of this draft, and
<v Speaker 1>then we'll see how the upcoming drafts are going to be.
<v Speaker 1>But Larry, do you have any final bots? This is
<v Speaker 1>probably our last show until we're doing our NFL preview
<v Speaker 1>this later this summer. I know it's going to be
<v Speaker 1>a while, but do you have any any final bots
<v Speaker 1>for us? Anything you're watching, anything you have going on?
<v Speaker 4>Well, I do have a couple of things.
<v Speaker 5>First, there, do you Pioneers another title.
<v Speaker 1>Title they do over and over again. Yeah, it's actually
<v Speaker 1>unreal how much they win.
<v Speaker 5>A lot of Utah kids, or a few Utah kids
<v Speaker 5>got drafted, so that was good to see.
<v Speaker 4>I'll be in Utah. I've got to graduates next week.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, you do is that next week already?
<v Speaker 4>That is on Friday, a done deal. Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>As far as the NFL goes in the draft, like
<v Speaker 5>this did feel different, I think, you know, this year,
<v Speaker 5>and I think we probably.
<v Speaker 4>Should get used to it, right, Like the.
<v Speaker 5>Whole kids staying in school longer because they can get paid.
<v Speaker 5>There's gonna be more tape on these guys. Yeah, they're
<v Speaker 5>probably gonna transfer around a little bit. But I think
<v Speaker 5>there is going to be better evaluations and so there's
<v Speaker 5>not going to be you know, like the surprises maybe
<v Speaker 5>that we've had in the past.
<v Speaker 1>The Ted Gregory's of the world.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, exactly, Johnny Manziel, Yeah, I think it's going to
<v Speaker 5>be a little more boring, which you know is would
<v Speaker 5>mean that team are doing their analysis and doing their
<v Speaker 5>research and might be better, you know, the better quality
<v Speaker 5>players getting picked in the spots.
<v Speaker 4>But it felt a little different this year.
<v Speaker 5>So yeah, obviously looking forward to you know, training camps
<v Speaker 5>and next and getting excited for that.
<v Speaker 1>All right, Mike, got any closing pots forrus on this
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty six NFL Draft or anything you're watching in
<v Speaker 1>this off season or you're doing in this off season.
<v Speaker 2>What do you have going I think one of the
<v Speaker 2>things you alluded to at the beginning was maybe one
<v Speaker 2>of the reasons why this was boring so many interior alignment. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>sexy picks, right, I mean, this was a terrible quarterback draft. Yep,
<v Speaker 2>there was one stud running back. I don't know, it's
<v Speaker 2>it's uh. I agree. It was kind of a whole
<v Speaker 2>hum draft draft. But I've got a quick list here
<v Speaker 2>I want to run through you.
<v Speaker 1>I'm excited for it.
<v Speaker 2>So Nick Knight, Train Lane, Onneo Gates, John Randall, and
<v Speaker 2>Kurt Warner. Not a single one of those players were drafted.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, No, you're you're right, And that's a really good point.
<v Speaker 1>You know, last week on the Dose, we did the
<v Speaker 1>worst draft classes ever. And it wasn't even that you
<v Speaker 1>didn't have some talent. It was that you didn't have,
<v Speaker 1>you know, the big time talent, and you didn't have
<v Speaker 1>kind of same thing. You didn't have the sexy picks.
<v Speaker 1>You go back to like twenty thirteen, those top two
<v Speaker 1>picks Jokal and the kid out of A and M
<v Speaker 1>a years ago just not a sexy pick, and then
<v Speaker 1>it doesn't end up producing. You know, you even go
<v Speaker 1>back to two thousand and you say, well, hey, produce
<v Speaker 1>Tom Brady. Yeah, and that was kind of it. I mean,
<v Speaker 1>it had like one other, you know, great player. So
<v Speaker 1>maybe this is just going to be that kind of draft,
<v Speaker 1>or maybe we're going to see eventually some depth offensive line.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe maybe some of these offensive line will actually turn out.
<v Speaker 1>It won't be sexy, but it will at least be effective. Gentlemen,
<v Speaker 1>I want to thank you for all your contributions to
<v Speaker 1>the Daily Dose. Thank you for breaking down the NFL
<v Speaker 1>draft of this as only we can here at the
<v Speaker 1>Dose and I will. We'll look forward to to getting
<v Speaker 1>together again soon and next time we'll actually be looking
<v Speaker 1>forward to some NFL football, which I can't wait for
<v Speaker 1>it because it's going to be a dry, long summer
<v Speaker 1>without it. But thank you both, appreciate you being here.
<v Speaker 3>Thanks Glinn.
<v Speaker 1>Hey next week com a dose. Yes, NFL free agency
<v Speaker 1>is done. Yes, the NFL Draft is now done, but hey,
<v Speaker 1>every single team in the NFL still has some big
<v Speaker 1>questions to answer. We're going to be looking at those
<v Speaker 1>and of course we'll be keeping you up on all
<v Speaker 1>that is going on in the world of sports. So
<v Speaker 1>be sure to check out the Dose next week and
<v Speaker 1>be sure you let a friend know to the same. Hey.
<v Speaker 1>I want to say thank you to each member of
<v Speaker 1>our illustrious panel, Mike and Larry today for their contributions
<v Speaker 1>to The Daily Dose. And I want to say thank
<v Speaker 1>you to each and every one of you for listening
<v Speaker 1>to The Daily Dose every week. Thank you for the emails,
<v Speaker 1>thank you with the text, think with the tweets, but
<v Speaker 1>more than anything, thank you for sharing the show, for
<v Speaker 1>sharing the videos, and for sharing the articles with someone
<v Speaker 1>that you know we absolutely love it when you do that.
<v Speaker 1>I'd say thank you to JSP. Could not do any
<v Speaker 1>of this without you. I will see you all next Wednesday.
<v Speaker 1>Have a great week, everybody.
<v Speaker 4>Mm hm h m hmmmmmm.
<v Speaker 3>Not to worry. I'll tell them today. It'll just be
<v Speaker 3>the three balls.
