<v Speaker 1>Jerry, Katie and Josh one hundred to normalize these three
<v Speaker 1>day weekends.
<v Speaker 2>I think, Oh I did so much yesterday.
<v Speaker 1>Did you so much? Yeah, we need to normalize this.
<v Speaker 1>We got quite a bit done as well, and it
<v Speaker 1>was just nice to have that extra day to get
<v Speaker 1>everything accomplished. How do we make this happen?
<v Speaker 2>I don't know who have to We have to petition,
<v Speaker 2>if there's a letter we need to write to our
<v Speaker 2>congressmen or women. I'm down, though, I'm down to get
<v Speaker 2>it started. I feel so much better today than I
<v Speaker 2>usually do on Monday.
<v Speaker 3>Refreshed, I feel the same way.
<v Speaker 2>I just feel accomplished.
<v Speaker 3>I feel like I have a certain goal glow to
<v Speaker 3>me right now.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, like adulted like the best of them this weekend,
<v Speaker 2>Like I did so many. I cleaned my floors like scrubs.
<v Speaker 3>Oh stop, just incredibly sexy.
<v Speaker 2>I just like if we had an extra day to
<v Speaker 2>do stuff, I could do all the fun stuff on
<v Speaker 2>the other two days Cinderella, and then Monday could be
<v Speaker 2>totally dedicated to getting my life in order. Yeah, you know,
<v Speaker 2>like it was such a good, good weekend.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, pretty solid. Josh, tell us about that Star Wars event.
<v Speaker 4>You were at It was one of the sweetest things
<v Speaker 4>I've ever experienced. So on Friday night, I dressed up,
<v Speaker 4>gotten my nice clothes and took the GF down to
<v Speaker 4>Becher Hall and we saw a Star Wars symphony with
<v Speaker 4>the Colorado Symphony and it was unreal like the amount
<v Speaker 4>of Star Wars fans there, the amount of people that
<v Speaker 4>were just there because they like the actual series of movies.
<v Speaker 4>One of the coolest things I've ever experienced. Not only
<v Speaker 4>right when you walk in, are you greeted by stormtroopers,
<v Speaker 4>which was right awesome, but you also got the opportunity
<v Speaker 4>to take pictures of like R two D two, Boba Fett,
<v Speaker 4>many other characters of the Star Wars galaxy. So we
<v Speaker 4>sit down in Becher Hall and what they essentially did
<v Speaker 4>was you watched the entire movie of Return of the Jedi,
<v Speaker 4>but there's no soundtrack to at all. They played the
<v Speaker 4>entire movie from start to finish. I had never seen
<v Speaker 4>anything like this. Usually, if you go to a symphony
<v Speaker 4>or concert, you know, they play for a little bit,
<v Speaker 4>do a nice little, you know, thirty minute intermission, and
<v Speaker 4>then come back and play some more. This was the
<v Speaker 4>entire soundtrack, So the entire movie that you were watching.
<v Speaker 4>Every sound thing that you heard other than the actual
<v Speaker 4>dialogue was what they were playing. The director directed for
<v Speaker 4>two and a half hours. I was like, I've never
<v Speaker 4>seen Missing I was almost distracted by that. Like for
<v Speaker 4>the entire two and a half hours of the movie,
<v Speaker 4>I was distracted by thinking of.
<v Speaker 3>This guy's got to be exhausted. This guy is jacked.
<v Speaker 3>You know what. I couldn't tell he was in Star
<v Speaker 3>Wars robes.
<v Speaker 4>He was in Jedi clothes, So I was like, okay,
<v Speaker 4>first of all, major yeah, major problems. He was doing
<v Speaker 4>both arms, Katie. This guy was going at it interact.
<v Speaker 4>It was so funny because at the end of the
<v Speaker 4>entire symphony, he has like I didn't even know, has
<v Speaker 4>like his bath towel, and he dabbed his whole head
<v Speaker 4>in his face, and I was.
<v Speaker 3>Like, this guy's probably drenched in sweat. I don't think
<v Speaker 3>of that. It was we're cute. So you went with
<v Speaker 3>Princess Pilot. I did.
<v Speaker 4>And we all know I'm a Star Wars nerd and
<v Speaker 4>my birthday is is coming up, and so this was
<v Speaker 4>the only weekend that they were able to do it.
<v Speaker 4>So it was a little bit of an early birthday present.
<v Speaker 4>But it was so sweet of her. She knows I'm
<v Speaker 4>a star wars nerd. I had the time of my life.
<v Speaker 4>We went on beforehand.
<v Speaker 3>Well we dressed yeah, we dressed up like nicely. We
<v Speaker 3>didn't dress up and didn't wear like costumes.
<v Speaker 2>He looks fabulous.
<v Speaker 4>So you think, symphony, you need to dress up and
<v Speaker 4>kind of wear like your nicer clothes.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 4>We were probably the nicest dressed couple there. That being said,
<v Speaker 4>I mean everybody brought like their kids to this, which
<v Speaker 4>I thought was really cool. First of all, you're bringing
<v Speaker 4>your kids to a symphony and they get to hear
<v Speaker 4>really good music. But on top of that, like they
<v Speaker 4>were dressed up as the Luke and the LEAs and
<v Speaker 4>the dots Vaders, and I love that. It made me
<v Speaker 4>jaay a lot of jawas yet you can actually meet
<v Speaker 4>a Jawa.
<v Speaker 3>Cool.
<v Speaker 4>But I like that they brought their kids. And on
<v Speaker 4>top of that, I wanted to go home and change
<v Speaker 4>into my Jedi clothes.
<v Speaker 3>I was like, oh, I.
<v Speaker 1>Wears, I can't wait to go home and change into
<v Speaker 1>my stormtrooper off.
<v Speaker 3>I wanted to bring my light capers short to be
<v Speaker 3>a stormtrooper.
<v Speaker 2>Right, Ah, guys, it's time for your mix one hundred
<v Speaker 2>Sports report really quick.
<v Speaker 1>This story out this morning talking about pickleball courts across
<v Speaker 1>the Denver metro continuing to see record demand, with the
<v Speaker 1>parks departments reportedly struggling to keep up with the requests
<v Speaker 1>for more court space.
<v Speaker 4>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>Neighborhoods also are fighting with the city because of noise
<v Speaker 1>complaints coming from the pickleball that has become so extremely popular.
<v Speaker 1>It's definitely moved from a retirement hobby to a full culture.
<v Speaker 3>Will take over. Yeah, well, everybody's playing it.
<v Speaker 2>What's I think upsetting to a lot of people who
<v Speaker 2>have been outside, who've been playing outside, is it is
<v Speaker 2>taking over the outdoor hockey rinks. A lot of basketball
<v Speaker 2>courts are being taken over by pickleball courts, and I
<v Speaker 2>think that that is where the frustration lies. Is it's like,
<v Speaker 2>find your own court, homie, you ain't got to take ours,
<v Speaker 2>you know.
<v Speaker 1>And it's not just the elderly out there trying to
<v Speaker 1>get some exercise.
<v Speaker 3>They say it's for full on young professionals.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, couples, families, and entire friend groups that are organizing.
<v Speaker 3>These pickleball leagues. UH.
<v Speaker 1>In their training like they're gonna play it in the Olympics.
<v Speaker 1>I know by your daughter's doing it right.
<v Speaker 2>And it's a little easier to do than like full
<v Speaker 2>on tennis or you know something like that. So I
<v Speaker 2>can see why I just standing, well, not everybody like
<v Speaker 2>and it is fun to do, but I think that, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>there just needs to be a little bit of you know, like,
<v Speaker 2>let's get uh some kind of rules them regulations when
<v Speaker 2>it comes to what we should pickleballs. Balls are, the
<v Speaker 2>pickles are in a columns.
<v Speaker 1>The pickles ares a pis are the smart dog pis
<v Speaker 1>are over there.
<v Speaker 3>Pickles are. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I do think maybe some rules and regulations can help.
<v Speaker 2>But I understand it's a fun thing to play. It
<v Speaker 2>really is, you know it is. I get it.
<v Speaker 3>From pickleball to the Boulder Boulder Josh.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, over the weekend, actually yesterday, the largest event happening
<v Speaker 4>in Boulder Boulder, as over one hundred and thirty thousand
<v Speaker 4>people strolled, ran, walked, crawled their way up there for
<v Speaker 4>the massive Bolder Boulder ten K fifty three thousand participants
<v Speaker 4>and then eighty thousand spectators excuse me made their way
<v Speaker 4>up there for the annual Boulder Boulder Race. And I
<v Speaker 4>love looking at the times for the international pros that
<v Speaker 4>are the ones that come from all over the world,
<v Speaker 4>and they want to finish this race as fast as possible.
<v Speaker 3>I love off the air.
<v Speaker 1>Josh was reading the Times. He's like, oh my god,
<v Speaker 1>they finished this in ten minutes.
<v Speaker 3>See how did he do this so quick? Like this
<v Speaker 3>guy's freaking driving. What is going on?
<v Speaker 4>No? So Patrick kipto, kip prop I hope I'm pronouncing
<v Speaker 4>it correctly. He was the first overall finisher with twenty
<v Speaker 4>eight to thirty five, which is still under a half hour. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>running six miles ish. That is unbelievable. Sprint man, You're
<v Speaker 4>literally sprinting for six straight mile. I can't imagine doing that.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, Katie, you're you're the runner here and you
<v Speaker 4>like to run all the time. How what's your fastest mile?
<v Speaker 2>I'm like eleven minutes and thirty seconds on my mile.
<v Speaker 3>So I'm not and that's a I am Oh my god,
<v Speaker 3>the grass.
<v Speaker 2>Like a whole song. I gotta catch my breath.
<v Speaker 3>I'm not kidding.
<v Speaker 2>So I am just so impressed with people who can
<v Speaker 2>do this Boulder Boulder.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah.
<v Speaker 4>And it's one of those things there's the international the pros.
<v Speaker 4>But then there's also just the normies us out there
<v Speaker 4>and they can walk it or run it, or stop
<v Speaker 4>at every beer station on the way there.
<v Speaker 1>So we were watching some of the coverage on the TV,
<v Speaker 1>and you know, they had everybody lining.
<v Speaker 3>Up there at the starting line, starting gate or whatever
<v Speaker 3>you call it.
<v Speaker 1>Nicol's like, we got to get back up there, just
<v Speaker 1>take the kids and go do this. And then they
<v Speaker 1>just hid go and there was you know, thousands of
<v Speaker 1>people running and I looked at her. I was like,
<v Speaker 1>I want to be a Debbie Downer, but I was like,
<v Speaker 1>there's no chance in hell, yeah that I'm gonna go
<v Speaker 1>up there.
<v Speaker 3>This looks horrible. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I was like, look at this crowd right now. Everybody's
<v Speaker 1>probably in their twenties. She's like, well, there's one bald guy.
<v Speaker 1>I was like, there's one guy on the screen out
<v Speaker 1>of about forty five hundred people that they're showing. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>every one of them's in their twenties. I go, I'm
<v Speaker 1>not doing this. Well, I'm not gonna go do this.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, look at the crowds, look at the ages
<v Speaker 1>of everybody, and I'll go. Now try to go find
<v Speaker 1>a porta potty in that mess.
<v Speaker 2>I know there are ages.
<v Speaker 3>The whole she told me the different ways here is well.
<v Speaker 2>And even that, like I saw there's like someone in
<v Speaker 2>their nineties who's computing in a Boulder Boulder every year
<v Speaker 2>since she was like, you know whatever, So there is
<v Speaker 2>an entire range of people to do.
<v Speaker 3>It's not for me.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I go into full dad mode. I'm like, look
<v Speaker 1>at that crowd. Yeah, look at where all the porta
<v Speaker 1>potties are?
<v Speaker 3>You know there's not enough.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and parking.
<v Speaker 2>Also, like people when they're doing that, everyone's in their
<v Speaker 2>own little world. So imagine sixty thousand people running in
<v Speaker 2>their own little world.
<v Speaker 3>Walk it out again. I want to be a Debbie Downer.
<v Speaker 3>I get it. I get the appeal. I get the
<v Speaker 3>excitement and to say you did it, and to say
<v Speaker 3>you did it. She's done it. Yeah, that's pretty cool.
<v Speaker 1>She ran in, she got her beer and her hot
<v Speaker 1>dog and all that crap. But for me, I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>let's go walk park meadows for your speed.
<v Speaker 3>That's for my speed.
<v Speaker 1>I think I didn't watch a second of this this weekend,
<v Speaker 1>but people are talking about it online.
<v Speaker 3>The American Music Awards.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, I guess Billy Idol came out at the
<v Speaker 1>end of it and just blew the roof off the place. Unfortunately,
<v Speaker 1>viewers had to wait about three hours to Billy.
<v Speaker 3>But the good news is this morning you can find
<v Speaker 3>all the recaps on the Socials.
<v Speaker 1>Anyway, he accepted a Lifetime Achievement award and closed out
<v Speaker 1>the show with two songs, eyes without a Face and
<v Speaker 1>Dancing with Myself, and the crowd was just on their feet,
<v Speaker 1>moving like crazy.
<v Speaker 3>No question, dude still has it. Oh yeah, still.
<v Speaker 2>I love that for him. So I got to interview
<v Speaker 2>him long ago. I got to go backstage at Red
<v Speaker 2>Rocks and talk to him in like the most iconic place, insane.
<v Speaker 2>But he was such a down to earth guy. For
<v Speaker 2>being the level of rock star that he is and
<v Speaker 2>the things that he's seen and done, he still just
<v Speaker 2>like looked at me the entire time we talked. A
<v Speaker 2>lot of artists like, you know, they're busy, they got
<v Speaker 2>other things going on, they're not really paying attention to you.
<v Speaker 2>But I swear he and I were the only two
<v Speaker 2>on the entire point in a moment, and there are
<v Speaker 2>two other people in the room with us, and he's
<v Speaker 2>still like I felt like he and I were one
<v Speaker 2>so yeah, that's what I said. I was like, I
<v Speaker 2>loved you in the Wedding's Greatest movie. You can't appeal
<v Speaker 2>to a whole new generation because of that, So good
<v Speaker 2>on Billy Idol were making waste.
<v Speaker 1>Oh what else happened? Mean it was Billy Idle And
<v Speaker 1>then nineteen ninety eight exploded. Hoody and the Blowfish were there,
<v Speaker 1>new kids on the block, the Pussycat Dolls.
<v Speaker 3>I saw that, What the what is going on? What's
<v Speaker 3>that nostalgia thing I think going on in the retro feels?
<v Speaker 3>So maybe that's why they did it.
<v Speaker 1>Keith Urban was there and did a version of Seals
<v Speaker 1>and Cross classic Summer Breeze.
<v Speaker 3>That's going back to the seventies. Oh anyway, Bieber.
<v Speaker 1>Was there one Best Male Pop Artist, Sabrina one Best
<v Speaker 1>Female Pop Artist.
<v Speaker 3>I love that And oh I know parents everywhere loved
<v Speaker 3>this song.
<v Speaker 1>Golden from the K Pop demon Hunters one song of
<v Speaker 1>the year.
<v Speaker 3>It bad ye did it better? Better more?
<v Speaker 1>This weekend, the Mandalorian and Rogu won the box office
<v Speaker 1>with a solid hundred million. But even though it made
<v Speaker 1>that much, the critics and the Star Wars franchise people,
<v Speaker 1>the Disney people are saying it's basically a flop.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, everyone hates it.
<v Speaker 3>I saw it. I liked it.
<v Speaker 1>I still end up being the worst opening for a
<v Speaker 1>Star Wars movie in the Disney era. I was reading
<v Speaker 1>an entire thing about this this weekend, and they are
<v Speaker 1>just really pointing to fan fatigue with Star Wars, like everybody's.
<v Speaker 3>Just kind of burnout on it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and everything that they're releasing is just kind of
<v Speaker 1>whole hum like they're.
<v Speaker 4>Just throwing scrap out, you know, throwing slop. What's a
<v Speaker 4>bummer about that is? I remember watching some behind the
<v Speaker 4>scenes footage from the old Star Wars, like the Lucas days,
<v Speaker 4>the George Lucas days, and they would train and work
<v Speaker 4>on things for years leading up to actual filming. Now
<v Speaker 4>it just feels like they throw it out every three weeks,
<v Speaker 4>you know, they throw out so much Star Wars. And
<v Speaker 4>you're right, and I look, I'm like the number one
<v Speaker 4>fan of Star Wars, but it is fatigue. You're spot
<v Speaker 4>on there.
<v Speaker 3>M Oh, then I get to play this for you.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, talk about nostalgia. General Mills is bringing Saved by
<v Speaker 1>the Bell characters from the halls of Bayside High to
<v Speaker 1>the Cereal Aisle they're going to be throwing the characters
<v Speaker 1>up on Cinnamon Toa's Crunch, Cheerios, Lucky Charms. The list
<v Speaker 1>goes on and on with Zach Morris, Kelly Kapowski, Slater, Jesse,
<v Speaker 1>Ah Screeches.
<v Speaker 3>Not on my list. I don't know there was that
<v Speaker 3>whole adult film industry.
<v Speaker 2>Can get it, but that franchise, you can't just forget it.
<v Speaker 3>Research. I hope Screeches on there. Anyway.
<v Speaker 1>They're really pushing the box tops for education. Remember that
<v Speaker 1>they've been doing that for like thirty years where you
<v Speaker 1>could mail in the box tops and these cereal boxes
<v Speaker 1>and General Mills would donate to schools, like over the
<v Speaker 1>past thirty years. I think they've done something like one
<v Speaker 1>billion dollars for schools. And this is just kind of
<v Speaker 1>a re energizing of that program. And they're throwing all
<v Speaker 1>the Saved by the Bell characters on it because I
<v Speaker 1>mean that oo's his school, right.
<v Speaker 2>Do you remember I had ziploc bags full of those
<v Speaker 2>box tops like so many box times.
<v Speaker 3>I remember doing that to a teacher.
<v Speaker 2>I go to my grandma's house and get her box.
<v Speaker 3>We did that too.
<v Speaker 2>She saved the box tops.
<v Speaker 3>For US's Grandma's house.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, she's a big fan of Josh.
<v Speaker 1>I'm excited about that more Kelly Kapowski, Yes locally.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, remember when we talked about that car parking garage
<v Speaker 2>that you know it was it sunk in. Remember back
<v Speaker 2>in March this happened. So that parking garage collapse down
<v Speaker 2>in the downtown area. There are still cars in there.
<v Speaker 3>From that I know.
<v Speaker 2>So the parking garage owner says it's unsafe to remove
<v Speaker 2>the cars that are close to where the actual garage collapsed.
<v Speaker 2>That's why some of them are still there. But the
<v Speaker 2>people who own their car are kind of out of
<v Speaker 2>luck at the moment. So a woman named Michelle, she
<v Speaker 2>was the source of this story, but she is dealing
<v Speaker 2>with that reality. And she says her Lexus is one
<v Speaker 2>of the cars that are stuck in this parking garage.
<v Speaker 2>And she says she still has to make her car payment,
<v Speaker 2>well it's up there since March, still paying for insurance,
<v Speaker 2>and she has to pay for a rental car. Here's
<v Speaker 2>the thing, the person who owns that parking garage is
<v Speaker 2>out of Florida and they're not helping people a whole lot.
<v Speaker 2>So she says she's got emails and phone calls into
<v Speaker 2>this parking garage owner to try and do something with
<v Speaker 2>her car. She's not getting any kind of communication back
<v Speaker 2>and forth.
<v Speaker 3>That's gonna be so frustrated.
<v Speaker 2>No, could you imagine?
<v Speaker 3>I don't want to imagine.
<v Speaker 2>And she says she's arm exactly even with her own insurance,
<v Speaker 2>Like she's not because they're trying to deal with the
<v Speaker 2>company's insurance.
<v Speaker 1>Obviously, it's like they're just not safe to go back
<v Speaker 1>in there and get these cars, so they're trying to
<v Speaker 1>figure out how to get them out. Yes, but in
<v Speaker 1>the meantime without it, the whole place collapsing.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, but this person who does not have a car
<v Speaker 2>and she doesn't even know her insurance, can't move forward
<v Speaker 2>without the persons owns the parking garage. Yeah, so they're like,
<v Speaker 2>we're not gonna pay for a car if it's not
<v Speaker 2>totaled out, and the parking garage owners like, well, I'm
<v Speaker 2>not gonna do anything until my insurance. So it is
<v Speaker 2>such a cluster. We feel for the people dealing with it.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, that's the latest as far as that one.
<v Speaker 2>And then a good story because yelps elite Top one
<v Speaker 2>hundred Barbecue in the us A list.
<v Speaker 3>Can you got me? Yes?
<v Speaker 2>So we do have a spot in Colorado that made
<v Speaker 2>the top twenty five. Avery Barbecue in Boulder was the
<v Speaker 2>highest on the list. I don't know if you're going.
<v Speaker 3>To try it. I haven't had it.
<v Speaker 2>I love barbecue, so as soon as I saw that one,
<v Speaker 2>I also was like, yes, please. We have a few
<v Speaker 2>closer to home to further down the list, Avery Brewing.
<v Speaker 3>Have you with the beer? Okay? Yeah, I had that.
<v Speaker 1>Oh my god, if I scroll back on my Instagram,
<v Speaker 1>there's probably a picture of it. Okay, I have had
<v Speaker 1>that barbecue sandwich with the fries.
<v Speaker 3>That's a solid sandwich.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, So you agree that place.
<v Speaker 3>Is a must.
<v Speaker 1>If you're up in Boulder, go to the Avery Brewing
<v Speaker 1>Company and get yourself a cold one and.
<v Speaker 3>Some of their barbecue.
<v Speaker 1>They got the smokers outside and everything so you can
<v Speaker 1>smell it as you're walking up.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that place is money.
<v Speaker 2>Well, YELP agreed. YELP readers will agree with you there.
<v Speaker 2>So that is number twenty five on the list. We
<v Speaker 2>have further down Uncle Henry in Denver. Uncle Henry that's
<v Speaker 2>ranked at number forty. And then we also have scooters
<v Speaker 2>smokehouse barbecue. Scooter coming in at number ninety seven.
<v Speaker 1>So did everyone just visualize a dog dragging their butt
<v Speaker 1>across the carpet.
<v Speaker 3>That's the only thing I think I would say, Scooter,
<v Speaker 3>really get a barbecue?
<v Speaker 2>Okay, my mine's elsewhere, Sorry, Scooter. In case you're wondering,
<v Speaker 2>Number one on that list, tell me all the way
<v Speaker 2>in Phoenix, Arizona. Well, miss Barbecue. The name of that
<v Speaker 2>go to Avery in case you want to check it out.
<v Speaker 2>But room time for one more, give me one more
<v Speaker 2>que quick one is the shuttle from Denver to Red
<v Speaker 2>Rocks that started up this past weekend. So there's a
<v Speaker 2>couple of them. West Tracks is the free and that
<v Speaker 2>gets you from the Jefferson County Government Center all the
<v Speaker 2>way to Red Rocks. And then you have another one
<v Speaker 2>that is a paid one, the Discover Denver Tours. That's
<v Speaker 2>a Red Rock shuttle, a two hour round trip from
<v Speaker 2>Union Station to Red Rocks. And that's geared more towards
<v Speaker 2>tourists and couples who just want a quick trip to
<v Speaker 2>see Red Rocks before coming back to the city. But again,
<v Speaker 2>that one is gonna cost you money. Where West Tracks
<v Speaker 2>is the free service, they're offering, and both of those
<v Speaker 2>just kicked off this last weekend. There you go, ride
<v Speaker 2>the Shuttle this summer. There's my high hype Jair.
<v Speaker 3>Thank you, Katy,
