<v Speaker 1>Jerry Katy and jobs six one hundred.
<v Speaker 2>So if you got a kiddo who's trying to get
<v Speaker 2>out into the workforce this summer, make a little extra cash,
<v Speaker 2>it sounds like it might be a little bit harder
<v Speaker 2>this year, Katie.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Well, they're saying that fewer teens are working summer jobs,
<v Speaker 1>and it's both. Really, it's the fact that teens have
<v Speaker 1>so much more on their plate now than in previous decades. Right,
<v Speaker 1>you're talking those ap classes, club sports that go all
<v Speaker 1>year round.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, there's summer internships that they have to do.
<v Speaker 3>You're not going to college.
<v Speaker 1>There so many more things now that kids have to do,
<v Speaker 1>and adding a job on top of that is almost impossible,
<v Speaker 1>you know. And then you have the workforce the businesses
<v Speaker 1>out there who are struggling also, some of them, especially
<v Speaker 1>the smaller businesses that typically higher teens, like the amusement parks,
<v Speaker 1>the retailers, the restaurants, right, they don't have the funds
<v Speaker 1>to pay these new employees. So it's kind of, I know,
<v Speaker 1>it's kind of just like the perfect bats, perfect storm
<v Speaker 1>for this. And also again, like the people who are
<v Speaker 1>out there trying to get jobs, the competition is stiff
<v Speaker 1>because there's only so many jobs available. So what it is,
<v Speaker 1>it's kind of shocking because they're saying that the projected
<v Speaker 1>hiring is to hit the lowest level in nearly eighty
<v Speaker 1>years when it comes to teen summer hiring. So it
<v Speaker 1>is a shocking number we're looking at right now.
<v Speaker 4>But there's not gonna be any lifeguards at the pool
<v Speaker 4>to summer right now.
<v Speaker 1>But again, like when I started thinking about it, I
<v Speaker 1>was like, oh, there's like I never had to do
<v Speaker 1>all the out of school stuff that they do now.
<v Speaker 2>So it's yeah, because I know my son is doing
<v Speaker 2>a cross country now like five days a week, six
<v Speaker 2>days a week. He was just at a little event
<v Speaker 2>with the church last night. He's volunteering with their Summer
<v Speaker 2>Quest program. So that's going to take up some time
<v Speaker 2>on top of like the excessive working out and more
<v Speaker 2>running even when he's not doing cross country, And then
<v Speaker 2>I'm gonna pile the chores on him.
<v Speaker 4>You have to do that, you have to.
<v Speaker 2>But you're right, yeah, once you hit that high school,
<v Speaker 2>I mean, it's a whole different world now it is
<v Speaker 2>for summer. If you have a student who's like driven, yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>and yeah, it's funny. He is dying to get a
<v Speaker 2>job though, like he is itching to get out and
<v Speaker 2>make a couple of bucks.
<v Speaker 1>I remember when I was his age and same. I
<v Speaker 1>wanted to have my own money. I wanted to spend
<v Speaker 1>it the way I wanted to spend it. And when
<v Speaker 1>I was done with school, I checked out. I was like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, so I didn't think about school until I
<v Speaker 1>went back.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, we can tell fall, So shut up, Jerry.
<v Speaker 4>I've seen your spelling.
<v Speaker 3>Uh huh.
<v Speaker 2>This might be kind of good though, because I have
<v Speaker 2>my after noons free.
<v Speaker 4>Sometimes. Maybe I'll go get one of these jobs.
<v Speaker 2>That the teens were for the place. Maybe I'll be
<v Speaker 2>a lifeguard in the afternoons. Why I could make a
<v Speaker 2>couple of bucks during the summer, little side hustle.
<v Speaker 3>Shirt off and go hang out at the pool.
<v Speaker 5>But no, it's gonna sir. Put your third nipple away.
<v Speaker 3>Don't scare the children, sir.
<v Speaker 4>Actually that might be beneficial.
<v Speaker 2>Nobody will drown because they don't want me and my
<v Speaker 2>third nipple in the pool trying.
<v Speaker 4>To save them.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you so much for allowing me to have a
<v Speaker 2>day off yesterday. I came in this morning and was
<v Speaker 2>kind of perusing the text line a little bit from
<v Speaker 2>yesterday's show, and from what I'm gathering, I'm guessing you
<v Speaker 2>guys did something to the effect of why is Jeremy
<v Speaker 2>out today?
<v Speaker 4>Text this your wrong answers.
<v Speaker 3>Wrong answers only. Yeah, I'm glad you picked that up.
<v Speaker 2>You're pretty darn funny. Apparently, am I clumsy or something?
<v Speaker 2>People said, I fell down? What's that all about?
<v Speaker 3>You know, you're the I fell.
<v Speaker 4>Down the stairs once one time. Jeremy's laying it down
<v Speaker 4>somewhere because he fell down.
<v Speaker 3>We just assume you're clumsy and you run into.
<v Speaker 4>Oh well, thank you for that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
<v Speaker 4>got to work on that persona immediately.
<v Speaker 2>At my tightrope walking class today, there's multiple ones about
<v Speaker 2>me stepping in the dog poop out in the backyard
<v Speaker 2>and tracking it through the house and everything.
<v Speaker 4>So a lot of people said, maybe I stepped in
<v Speaker 4>dog poop again.
<v Speaker 3>You really like the one that said he's moving in
<v Speaker 3>with his mother in law.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, oddly enough, I was with my mother in law yesterday.
<v Speaker 2>Oh Lord help me. I think one of my favorites
<v Speaker 2>on there, though, was that Jeremy was getting another of
<v Speaker 2>a sectomy. So I guess the first one didn't stick,
<v Speaker 2>so I had to go back in yesterday and get
<v Speaker 2>it redone.
<v Speaker 3>It's a real man. Yeah, so man, they had to
<v Speaker 3>do it twice.
<v Speaker 4>No.
<v Speaker 2>You know, over the years, I've missed out on some
<v Speaker 2>family stuff, some kids stuff because we are in here
<v Speaker 2>so early.
<v Speaker 4>And I was like, you know what, not this year.
<v Speaker 2>I'm gonna enjoy my kiddos this year because we had
<v Speaker 2>a couple of big move moves. My son moving out
<v Speaker 2>of middle school into high school, so I wanted to
<v Speaker 2>go to his continuation and then my daughter leaving elementary
<v Speaker 2>school to go into middle school. And I wanted to
<v Speaker 2>attend those little mini commencement ceremonies and I did yesterday morning,
<v Speaker 2>and it.
<v Speaker 4>Was I'm glad I went.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, because you can't get those back, Jeremy, you can't.
<v Speaker 3>I'm glad you went too.
<v Speaker 4>Well, thank you, And it was so sweet. And yeah,
<v Speaker 4>I cried a couple of times.
<v Speaker 2>Year.
<v Speaker 4>I feel like I'm gonna cry now, but no, I went.
<v Speaker 2>It was it was great, It was it was really
<v Speaker 2>special to enjoy time with the kiddos and and Nick
<v Speaker 2>Knack and the rest of the family and and my mother.
<v Speaker 4>In law and.
<v Speaker 2>So anyway, I took a little time off yesterday to
<v Speaker 2>enjoy real life, because you missed some of that with
<v Speaker 2>this show. I will say one of the highlights yesterday though,
<v Speaker 2>was going to breakfast afterwards. We went to a great
<v Speaker 2>little place I had never been to, and I lived
<v Speaker 2>fairly close to, you know, a little old town Morrison,
<v Speaker 2>but they got.
<v Speaker 4>The cow Eatery there. It's a little breakfast spot. That's
<v Speaker 4>it's a it's a hop and joint.
<v Speaker 2>It's every time I drive by the cow the parking
<v Speaker 2>lot is full. And I was like, how about a
<v Speaker 2>random Thursday, you know, like at eleven ten eleven, And
<v Speaker 2>we went up there and we got right in good,
<v Speaker 2>really good breakfast. Got a rave about that. Not cheap,
<v Speaker 2>but great breakfast. And the highlight though, is all of
<v Speaker 2>us sitting down wondering what we're gonna order. I didn't
<v Speaker 2>really know what my son was gonna order until the
<v Speaker 2>waitress came over and she's taking everybody's order and she
<v Speaker 2>gets to him, she's like.
<v Speaker 4>What would you like to have? Buddy? He goes, I
<v Speaker 4>want to hangover Omelet.
<v Speaker 2>Why is that so funny to hear a kid order
<v Speaker 2>the hangover Almeley?
<v Speaker 1>And he probably ordered it just so he could say,
<v Speaker 1>hang No, he didn't even doesn't even know what that is.
<v Speaker 2>Because we all started laughing and he's like what and
<v Speaker 2>we're like, do you even know what a hangover is?
<v Speaker 2>And he's like, no, I have no idea, And so
<v Speaker 2>it led to a pretty good laugh with the waitress
<v Speaker 2>and it was like, yeah, he was up late last night.
<v Speaker 4>He was partying at Red Rocks and tearing it up.
<v Speaker 4>So extra meat on that omelet.
<v Speaker 3>And I'm shot a whiskey, hair of the dog.
<v Speaker 4>We'll hear the dog for him. I was like, that's
<v Speaker 4>pretty good.
<v Speaker 2>I'll take the hangovers going. It's like, oh man, you'll
<v Speaker 2>learn what that is. You're going into high school now,
<v Speaker 2>you'll probably learn it something.
<v Speaker 4>Yes.
<v Speaker 2>So anyway, had a really good, good day, good morning yesterday.
<v Speaker 2>So thank you again, and I promise I won't take
<v Speaker 2>any more time off until July.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, you better not.
<v Speaker 3>You are definitely missed around here.
<v Speaker 4>Well thank you. That's thank you for filling in. You
<v Speaker 4>guys are rock stars.
<v Speaker 3>It is hard to be on your side of things.
<v Speaker 4>Do lot going on over here, so much going.
<v Speaker 1>On, and it just like you forget how intense that
<v Speaker 1>side of things are.
<v Speaker 3>So welcome back. Jeremy, we definitely miss you with open arms. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>miss you.
<v Speaker 4>Did you screw up a lot yesterday.
<v Speaker 3>I don't think I did no like I know, the
<v Speaker 3>Boss said a few things, but I.
<v Speaker 4>Was, well, you know, it's part of his gig. He's
<v Speaker 4>got to say something.
<v Speaker 3>I thought, I'm gonna let you talk.
<v Speaker 4>I'm gonna let you talk.
