[SPEAKER_05]: Surf's call well Mike that has a story that tape I was going through a box of cassettes figuring out what I could throw away and what I couldn't and I found do you remember in days of radio they made three-minute cassettes just for sending air checks out to clients they were really short and this was one of them and it was surf's handwriting on it he was the program ostensibly the program director at WJF there was an ostensibly he was the program director

[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but did he really have a lot to do with your content?

[SPEAKER_04]: He didn't have a lot to do with our content, but he certainly had a lot to do with the, you know, run in the show.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, in the music, you're right, you're right.

[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.

[SPEAKER_05]: He had recorded this and it serves beautiful cartoonist like handwriting.

[SPEAKER_05]: It said, surf greeting to Frederick Douglass High School Class of 93.

[SPEAKER_05]: and I picked it up and I said not only is this great, not only is this 23 years old, I'm sorry, 27 years old, but also the fact that I have it means it was never delivered to the students at Frederick Douglass High School.

[SPEAKER_04]: So spell the CERPH-E surf was a, for those of you around the country, was a legendary

[SPEAKER_04]: alternative rock DJs for every responsible for the break of Bruce Springsteen.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and he was up in the DC area on a station called WHFS.

[SPEAKER_04]: When WHFS was the gold standard for alternative rock and they played stuff that you wouldn't hear anywhere else.

[SPEAKER_04]: And they were really, really avant-garde and very quirky and they had some very quirky discharge.

[SPEAKER_05]: Literally let the DJs choose their own music.

[SPEAKER_04]: which has a little guide, but they bred nice guys except for the owner, they bred no Jake, Jake Einstein.

[SPEAKER_04]: The surf really, I worked for a lot of different program directors over the years and he would be one of the nicest guys I've ever met in the broadcasts,

[SPEAKER_04]: business.

[SPEAKER_04]: I've got that.

[SPEAKER_04]: What I loved about Surf is that he has never changed his personality and his image for the public.

[SPEAKER_04]: He's always been kind of a hip, cool guy, and, you know, Surf's an old man like we all are now, and it's just, you know, he's just, you know, he's just, you know, he's just

[SPEAKER_04]: I probably haven't talked about surf enough that he worked with Don and myself during a very difficult time for any program director to be working with us on that show when we were very, very popular and going through some changes with the company and all that.

[SPEAKER_04]: And I just, I have nothing but good things to say about the guy and that's not a lot of program directors that I found in the past.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think maybe you're right.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry.

[SPEAKER_05]: Sir, for example, all you know, the best word for him was cool.

[SPEAKER_05]: He was way too well dressed for radio.

[SPEAKER_05]: And he really knew his music and he would play great stuff, but he would never play this.

[SPEAKER_04]: Very cool guy And yeah, there's one program director and one general manager that that I could go back Alan Goodman would be the the general manager.

[SPEAKER_04]: Although

[SPEAKER_04]: Unlike Alan Goodman, yeah, there's nothing I would really change about, sir.

[SPEAKER_04]: I would maybe have a make a few adjustments to Alan Goodman during that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Just go go 80s here.

[SPEAKER_04]: Wednesday, as the whole family is hitting the road, taking the dogs up to Ovido, I think that's the correct pronunciation, Florida, which is northeast of Orlando, just a little northeast, really on top of Orlando.

[SPEAKER_04]: And we're taking the dogs and then one of the kids who's a buddy of Michaels, his dad can't make it up till Friday because as I remember, I was mentioning this yesterday, this tournament, the details of which were sprung on the parents really like an hour after 10 minutes after the game we played the other night.

[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't think you mentioned that it's multiple days.

[SPEAKER_03]: it's definitely multiple days.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to be we booked a hotel for Wednesday to Saturday.

[SPEAKER_04]: Wednesday to Friday night.

[SPEAKER_04]: So hopefully it's wrapped up by Saturday.

[SPEAKER_04]: If it goes to Sunday, we're screwed.

[SPEAKER_04]: You know, did you look into it in the car?

[SPEAKER_04]: You do you know more about it than I do?

[SPEAKER_04]: You probably do.

[SPEAKER_03]: Now that I know what's Friday, I will check it out.

[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, well, I'll let you know because I'm not sure how it works and whether we have to win to stay in as they say.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just shaking my head at the concept of they let you know one Monday, you have to go out of town three hours away in two days.

[SPEAKER_04]: Now I have to be fair to the powers that be the overall tournament schedule, the tournament weekend.

[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_04]: uh... we knew there was going to be something up in Orlando uh... for this team right from the get-go on less we went to the a uh... the a state championships which would be a different tournament you say first day as the weekend now i do not

[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, the daytime game on Thursday was an eyebrow razor.

[SPEAKER_04]: And then early this morning, my wife received a text from one of the other moms, saying that one of the kids has a dad who has to work.

[SPEAKER_04]: And he's a buddy of Michaels.

[SPEAKER_04]: And by the way, we got baseball players.

[SPEAKER_04]: out the wazoo around here we in uh... jace who is one of our uh... pictures and an incredible second baseman and i call them the pocket rocket because he's uh... small of stature big of talent and uh... he is uh... he spent the night last night with michael there are other minds running around i think they took the e-bike uh... the dangerous e-bike up to seven eleven to get breakfast because we have nothing in the house it's a modified e-bike right

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it goes 130 miles per hour.

[SPEAKER_05]: No, but has he, has he mess with it and made a change?

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, they all mess with him.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_04]: They mess with them all the time.

[SPEAKER_04]: So the Subaru will include the dogs, two dogs, and two kids.

[SPEAKER_04]: And by the way, Dylan.

[SPEAKER_04]: Nick's mammals.

[SPEAKER_04]: Dylan, who is coming with us is one of the larger young men on the team and also one of the home run hitters.

[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, you handle with care.

[SPEAKER_04]: That's the way that got what point do you decide to take two vehicles?

[SPEAKER_04]: I know, no way.

[SPEAKER_04]: I can't do it.

[SPEAKER_04]: Ovido is a suburb of Orlando, so that's that area.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, okay, sorry.

[SPEAKER_03]: But it's on my side of Orlando.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's on your side and good side.

[SPEAKER_04]: I will text you and keep you posted about what's going on Josh with the tournament.

[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, I wrote it down here.

[SPEAKER_04]: Road trip time, two boys, two dogs, traveling through Florida, and we're not taking my car, which maybe has a ton of fun.

[SPEAKER_04]: I need a bit more space, but not a lot.

[SPEAKER_04]: We're taking, you know, I wouldn't exactly call a Subaru Forester hybrid, a, you know, a mega SUV.

[SPEAKER_05]: Should have stepped up to the outback.

[SPEAKER_05]: That doesn't flip as much as the Forester.

[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think the outback has a hell of a lot more space, right?

[SPEAKER_05]: A little more space in the back and a bit wider.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think is what it is.

[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, just a little bit, not much.

[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, when I had my forester, I flipped it and I said, you know what I think I want something wider and so I got myself the Outback instead of the forester.

[SPEAKER_04]: So it is bigger.

[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't know that.

[SPEAKER_04]: How do the dogs do on the drive?

[SPEAKER_03]: Are they on the lap?

[SPEAKER_03]: And where do they sit?

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: Where do they go?

[SPEAKER_04]: Here is This is the other problem

[SPEAKER_04]: But because we now have an additional passenger, we are foregoing the crate, the little crate we were going to take the dogs in.

[SPEAKER_05]: Were they share a crate?

[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, they are able to show you how small crate they could do that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Although one time they got into a fight in the crate, which was not pleasant, it happened.

[SPEAKER_04]: It happened with me and my cousins when they put you in the crate when they took you on the last year.

[SPEAKER_04]: On the phone journey, it's going to be, it's going to be interesting to say the very least.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to be an interesting.

[SPEAKER_05]: And the crate goes in the backpack, right?

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, now we're not going to take it.

[SPEAKER_04]: We're just going to have the dog.

[SPEAKER_05]: But when you travel, it would go in the backpack.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but you got to realize my son's a catcher.

[SPEAKER_04]: So he doesn't take a normal amount of gear.

[SPEAKER_04]: He takes a a lot.

[SPEAKER_04]: It looks like he's deploying to a foreign country when he puts the dogs wander.

[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_05]: This is open up into a bigger crate.

[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_03]: Have you met the dogs?

[SPEAKER_03]: They will wander.

[SPEAKER_05]: Are they in different dogs?

[SPEAKER_05]: Happened differently in different car situations.

[SPEAKER_05]: I hate.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: Do they make themselves at home in the car?

[SPEAKER_04]: We haven't traveled enough.

[SPEAKER_04]: I haven't traveled with them enough for me to give you an intelligent answer.

[SPEAKER_04]: I do know that tomorrow I will be pulling a saroka and broadcasting from a, you know, a cheesy hotel room to do my move.

[SPEAKER_04]: That's that.

[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I mean.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not used to it, but I can do it.

[SPEAKER_04]: I've got my thing up on the shelf here.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think when you get by Sidney Swenie's assets, she is a phenomenal actress as well.

[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like Rob does about Elordi, the male artist, Jacob Elordi, he might be in the tidbits today.

[SPEAKER_04]: Jacob Elordi is, but in this role that he had,

[SPEAKER_04]: He's supposed to be an ale, so he's great.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but still.

[SPEAKER_05]: Let's still.

[SPEAKER_05]: What?

[SPEAKER_05]: You just don't like it because he's the guy.

[SPEAKER_05]: You think he's come natural?

[SPEAKER_04]: The, the, the, the whole, and if you do not want spoiler alerts, don't worry, because they're not relevant to that what I'm going to discuss here.

[SPEAKER_04]: What if, you know, everybody knows they care, they killed off the, the superstar of the show, Zambé.

[SPEAKER_04]: And her character, I would not know that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, you're peeing.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think you're like Johnny Carson.

[SPEAKER_04]: I know that.

[SPEAKER_04]: You're buying.

[SPEAKER_04]: You did not know of it.

[SPEAKER_03]: They said they killed one of those for two days.

[SPEAKER_03]: You've been saying they kill a bunch of people, but you haven't said you.

[SPEAKER_04]: You got Sydney Sweeney.

[SPEAKER_04]: Don't even know her character's name.

[SPEAKER_04]: But she's the misguided girl who is the same spot.

[SPEAKER_04]: Can you tell he didn't watch it or has no knowledge of it?

[SPEAKER_05]: I've watched it for a few seasons.

[SPEAKER_04]: You did.

[SPEAKER_04]: It might be Cassie.

[SPEAKER_04]: I might be Cassie.

[SPEAKER_05]: I'm the one that's pushing you to tell me what happens, so I don't have to take this streaming service.

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you know, oh, yeah, the HBO Max, you don't want to.

[SPEAKER_04]: They kill off Zenday as character a rule.

[SPEAKER_04]: And the storyline in a nutshell was that throughout the season, she got caught by the DEA.

[SPEAKER_04]: And in order to not go to prison for 20 years, she is forced to cooperate with the DEA and so she's in

[SPEAKER_04]: uh... gets wind of it and he gets wind of it through one of the other characters who's a friend of ruse and it it you know he suspects that it's uh... and they uh... so there's an entire drug run that gets exposed and they know about it and there's that kind of uh... you know crime intrigue but

[SPEAKER_04]: You don't really hear a lot of tension or is it like a fake attention tension all over the places escapes and chases and murders and dragging by horses and burying people underground that you fit in by snakes it's just it's it's non stuff the show was

[SPEAKER_04]: The effort put into a show like this is worth my attention simply because of the energy of the writing and the plot lines and all of that's why Euphoria is a well-deserved smash hit.

[SPEAKER_04]: It really is however, because they get wind of Zendaya, her character, Rue, being

[SPEAKER_04]: and he does her in by giving her painkillers laced with fentanyl and that's how she buys that is that's so realistic in modern days almost it's it's almost sad rather than

[SPEAKER_04]: I have to tell you that in my own life, I've been affected by my daughter's boyfriend who was an addict and unfortunately got a bad dose.

[SPEAKER_04]: There was a time a few years back where this fentanyl, which kills more, I think more Americans under 50 than anything else in the country.

[SPEAKER_04]: I believe in that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Think about that statistic for a second.

[SPEAKER_04]: So they, you know, I like the fact that it is a timely topical line of story to the beginning of the series where in episode two, she is forced to take a little fentanyl.

[SPEAKER_04]: And she and she is truly battled substance abuse and that's the, that's the genesis of the whole story and what she goes through and what she experiences.

[SPEAKER_04]: So.

[SPEAKER_04]: That is the story line, and that's how she does, and I won't go into the details of every element of the plot other than that's how she's off, but I will say this, and this is why I think our buddy, Mr. Saroka, might want to look in because I would love your thoughts on the spirituality of the final episode because it is, as somebody who is because I was raised

[SPEAKER_04]: I always feel there is that element in my body, that there is that part of me that when I haven't been in a church for a long time, I will go into a church and feel an emotional reaction.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think all Catholics have it, especially if you are a Catholic as a kid and then maybe you can even go far away from the fact it's still drilled into you.

[SPEAKER_05]: Like, my father still doesn't like movies about satanic...

[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sorry, my father when he was alive.

[SPEAKER_05]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_05]: Didn't like movies about satanic possession, because it was so drilled into him as a kid that it was real and it was something to be concerned about.

[SPEAKER_04]: You know, that's not my memory of the Catholic Church.

[SPEAKER_04]: My memory of the Catholic Church was just ridiculously burdened with rules.

[SPEAKER_04]: That's just, you know, you don't need the way for, or you'll go to hell, you know, hell was a big part of it, but as far as demons and things like that, I didn't get a lot of that, but maybe that was his mother more than sure.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well, you never know how people interpret it, right?

[SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[SPEAKER_04]: But to me, at the very end, the word I put on my, you know, on my one sheet that I compose every day for the show was beautiful.

[SPEAKER_04]: Wow, and I, I saw it.

[SPEAKER_05]: That's nice to hear.

[SPEAKER_04]: I thought that, and what's great about that,

[SPEAKER_04]: is when you think you're going to get something from a show and they surprise you and then it's something you felt was worthwhile.

[SPEAKER_04]: That's a good thing and I think that's why I think it will deserve.

[SPEAKER_03]: Beautiful what you say you've been saying all season at the end of every episode.

[SPEAKER_04]: Probably not.

[SPEAKER_04]: You mean as far as the nottingness or something like that, you've done it like porn every other time.

[SPEAKER_04]: You've come talking about Sidney.

[SPEAKER_04]: It is, the thing that caught me by surprise is that the sexual content was so intense early on in the season that you, you know, you get into a situation where, you know, maybe because I'm an old fart, too.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think if I'm a 35-year-old, I'm probably digging every second of that, but the storylines were the storylines, and

[SPEAKER_04]: If you see now, I'm going to give another thing.

[SPEAKER_04]: If you look at the final, the finale of this show, they and their own little way identified just how empty that world is and how,

[SPEAKER_04]: how vacuic it is and how I think Sidney Swenney and her character Cassie in euphoria and I maybe I'm giving it too much credit and I think she symbolizes our society and and what we are and how bankrupt we are and really you're not going to hear this from me very often.

[SPEAKER_04]: I believe religion has been responsible for more trouble and more murders and more deaths

[SPEAKER_04]: complete narcissism and our complete obsession with views and clicks and me and all of it has hurt our society greatly.

[SPEAKER_04]: Where you get away from that is I think whatever way you can.

[SPEAKER_04]: But,

[SPEAKER_04]: I would not be surprised to see people gravitate towards other things.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's just too much right now.

[SPEAKER_04]: And he's right in the middle of that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Look at me.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_04]: TikTok.

[SPEAKER_04]: Only questions.

[SPEAKER_05]: Having watched the first two seasons, and I had to start again because it is such from the get-go, such an unpleasant show.

[SPEAKER_05]: It really is.

[SPEAKER_05]: It doesn't give you any sort of comfort.

[SPEAKER_05]: It's just great.

[SPEAKER_04]: Great description.

[SPEAKER_04]: I agree with you on that.

[SPEAKER_05]: all of it, it sounds to me all three seasons leading up this finale, make the finale beautiful because it shows that this is what the show was about.

[SPEAKER_05]: It's not the story of, you know, teenagers just living their life.

[SPEAKER_05]: This is the story of society's decline.

[SPEAKER_04]: I look at the plot line of euphoria as

[SPEAKER_04]: things that matter and things that are good when you're young, when you don't know any better, I mean, the old adage of getting to a point where you look back and you go, oh my God, what did I do?

[SPEAKER_04]: What did I do with my life?

[SPEAKER_04]: And that is the recurring theme throughout.

[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that it requires

[SPEAKER_04]: people to have a great deal of maturity early in their years to know that.

[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't know it.

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I don't think I think the maturity is going at all.

[SPEAKER_05]: The maturity is harder to get now than it was before.

[SPEAKER_05]: You can almost absorb wisdom by hanging around older people.

[SPEAKER_04]: you know the younger people are are the people that to create these these kids with all these things.

[SPEAKER_05]: But then the bulk of today's kids are not looking to their older people.

[SPEAKER_03]: You're seeing a shift in 20 somethings because

[SPEAKER_04]: And how I was starting to feel very, very isolated and it's just, you know, I'm not going to go into the great details of what we deal with on this show and what we deal with in our personalized.

[SPEAKER_04]: uh... join me in this little uh... algebra might seem small to somebody else but we don't go on a lot of trips we don't travel a lot and this is a big deal for us now and i don't understand and having my wingman up there and now we got another kid coming and you know fill fill the car up with everybody because it's just now i've got somebody with me on my uh... my and i'm excited about it it's just the the you reaching out and going to this with your ability to connect with people

[SPEAKER_04]: You latch on to, you know, people more than anybody I've ever seen.

[SPEAKER_04]: And I think to get more of that in your life, when I heard you were going to go to a meeting was special.

[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think you need your friend to take you to a meeting.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think you could go to a meeting and just immediately.

[SPEAKER_04]: think it was rewarding.

[SPEAKER_04]: That's the last thing I will say about it.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think it would be good for this, not health, not booze, you've kicked booze.

[SPEAKER_03]: That's right on the line because it is an opinion to the Pope because what artificial intelligence is doing for society right now is it's separating us and making us lonely and making us with these virtual friends and companions and but on the made for that but also one of the first proponents of AI was Pope Benedict who used it to pick out his outfits.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think that they give you a word at the very beginning of the test and then they ask you to remember that word maybe seven or eight questions into the test.

[SPEAKER_04]: On the test last night I still remember it was cognitive.

[SPEAKER_03]: And what I want from my Uber driver is for him to sit there and play on his phone, pulling up YouTube clips to show me his podcast.

[SPEAKER_03]: And for me to start half to pretend I am impressed with his work.

[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it was awkward because the first thing is, he mentions that he lives in my community.

[SPEAKER_03]: But he didn't position.

[SPEAKER_03]: And when he got tired of talking about his bourbon podcast, he told me about another guy who's really big on YouTube, but that lives in the neighborhood for his turtles.

[SPEAKER_03]: and how he is the turtle guy.

[SPEAKER_03]: And he's a turtle influencer.

[SPEAKER_03]: And turtle guy are these two YouTube influencers in the neighborhood.

[SPEAKER_03]: So then he was telling me about the turtle guy.

[SPEAKER_05]: And did you think up until that ride?

[SPEAKER_05]: You were the biggest YouTube and podcast influencer in your neighborhood?

[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I see you've got some competition.

[SPEAKER_05]: I would say the turtle guys probably more success.

[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously it was domesticated.

[SPEAKER_04]: It was a shame they can't retrieve it and capture it and see that it's taking care of yours.

[SPEAKER_01]: For the past few months the little green birds been spotted stripping rubber from the vehicle.

[SPEAKER_11]: It'd be nice if I wanted you to come again and take it away and take it away.

[SPEAKER_11]: Obviously it's domesticated birds, so somebody could look after it.

[SPEAKER_11]: Putting a cover in your car is a solution.

[SPEAKER_11]: Look at the little bastard.

[SPEAKER_11]: I know.

[SPEAKER_11]: And it's no ideal.

[SPEAKER_11]: So now my car is so badly damaged.

[SPEAKER_11]: I'm not sure it could do any more damage.

[SPEAKER_11]: So I'm just leaving it until I need to change my car and then I'll get it fixed.

[SPEAKER_11]: But which time it will be resolved hopefully?

[SPEAKER_01]: It goes for me to the parakeet called the boat.

[SPEAKER_01]: The boat pounds worth of damage.

[SPEAKER_01]: And many people have taken to covering up their cars.

[SPEAKER_00]: There was always just in having my breakfast.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I saw it nibbling away on the car.

[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I was straight out chasing away.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know where it goes and I don't know how it survives.

[SPEAKER_04]: So my all kinds of trouble and influence obviously a domesticated bird Yeah, that somehow escaped from a lady or something like that.

[SPEAKER_05]: I hate birds because they're always causing trouble like nasty Experts and who's Mike if I say to you dot big God.

[SPEAKER_05]: And this makes me mad because they're kind of spinning it like cool aid pickles is a brand new thing.

[SPEAKER_05]: Cool aid pickles have been around in the South forever.

[SPEAKER_05]: That's where you take a jar of bill pickles and you add cool aid and it makes them fruity and salty.

[SPEAKER_05]: I've never heard of that.

[SPEAKER_05]: I have seen it on television as much as 10 or 15 years ago.

[SPEAKER_05]: So I've known about it.

[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you take the grimy, salty, garlicky pickle, and you surround it with goofy grape or something like that.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think traditional is cherry, and then you have to add sugar, so it's the equivalent of sweet and coolade.

[SPEAKER_03]: I think the difference is we don't have coolade in our algorithm.

[SPEAKER_05]: My pee.

[SPEAKER_05]: Well, actually what you might need in your algorithm is this kid dot big.

[SPEAKER_05]: God.

[SPEAKER_05]: His name is Bubba Harrelson and this is going crazy because this is him trying cool aid pickles for the first time.

[SPEAKER_05]: I did some research and dot begot means and I quote, I think it's dubbiga.

[SPEAKER_05]: That bitch is tough is what they actually did a follow-up and when you want to get the answers you want to find a good journalist to follow up.

[SPEAKER_05]: So here's the follow-up on dot begot.
