<v Speaker 1>Jay Katy and Josh mix one hundred. Okay, So, Carissa says,
<v Speaker 1>my fiance and I are getting married this fall, and
<v Speaker 1>like most couples, we're spending a small fortune on this wedding.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's we're rough out.
<v Speaker 1>There between the venue, food, drinks, photographer, DJ Flowers, and
<v Speaker 1>everything else. We are looking at tens of thousands of
<v Speaker 1>dollars for one day. Yeah, it's like that now. A
<v Speaker 1>few weeks ago, I came across this new trend where
<v Speaker 1>couples can sell extra seats at their wedding to strangers. Basically,
<v Speaker 1>people pay to attend your wedding and the couple get
<v Speaker 1>some of the money back. At first, I thought it
<v Speaker 1>sounded crazy, but the more I looked into it, the
<v Speaker 1>more it made sense. We already have about twenty five
<v Speaker 1>open seats because of family members who probably won't come.
<v Speaker 1>We're paying for those meals whether someone sits there or not,
<v Speaker 1>so why not make a little money back. Not a
<v Speaker 1>bad idea, It sounds like a genius idea. Good okay
<v Speaker 1>surface here, sir, she says. Though Chris goes on to say,
<v Speaker 1>my fiance.
<v Speaker 3>Absolutely hates the idea.
<v Speaker 1>So he says, our wedding is supposed to be about
<v Speaker 1>celebrating with people that we know and love, not hosting
<v Speaker 1>random strangers who paid for a ticket. He keeps saying
<v Speaker 1>he doesn't want to spend our wedding day wondering who
<v Speaker 1>all these people are in our photos and on the
<v Speaker 1>dance floor. I think he's being dramatic, Like, first, these
<v Speaker 1>won't be actual wedding crashers, right, like we're.
<v Speaker 3>Gonna prove who comes.
<v Speaker 1>Second, some of my bridesmaids are single and always complain
<v Speaker 1>they can't meet decent guys. It's a good point, exactly,
<v Speaker 1>if a few single people showed up, maybe that wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>be the worst single thing or the worst thing in
<v Speaker 1>the world. Third, I've been to weddings where half the
<v Speaker 1>guests never met the bride or groom anyway because they
<v Speaker 1>were somebody's plus one. So it's not like this doesn't happen,
<v Speaker 1>you know. He fired back and said that if we're
<v Speaker 1>trying to make money off of our guests, maybe we
<v Speaker 1>should just start charging admission and sell sponsorships to local business.
<v Speaker 1>That's kind of we brought to you by hot topic exactly. Genius,
<v Speaker 1>another genius idea. But now we're fighting because he thinks
<v Speaker 1>I'm turning our wedding into a side hustle, and I
<v Speaker 1>think he's letting perfectly good money go to waste. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>you're leaving money on the table. So who's right here?
<v Speaker 1>Is it weird to open up extra seats to strangers
<v Speaker 1>if it helps offset the cost of the wedding or
<v Speaker 1>is my fiance right that something should stay private and
<v Speaker 1>not become a business opportunity.
<v Speaker 3>So that's where we need to help out. And that's
<v Speaker 3>signed Carissa.
<v Speaker 2>Thanks to Carissa.
<v Speaker 3>That's quite the dilemma there.
<v Speaker 4>I've heard about these these companies now or whatever where
<v Speaker 4>people can go online and register to essentially be a
<v Speaker 4>wedding crasher.
<v Speaker 1>It's actually I think it's called not Wedding Crashers.
<v Speaker 3>Is something like that. Yeah, there's an actual website.
<v Speaker 1>It launched in May, and you can go sign up
<v Speaker 1>to buy tickets to people.
<v Speaker 4>What's the thing, It's like, you're not crashing the web.
<v Speaker 4>They know you're coming, and there's like a vetting process.
<v Speaker 4>You can go on there and look at these people
<v Speaker 4>and he's hear their story, I guess, and then approve
<v Speaker 4>them to come to your wedding. Yeah, but I get
<v Speaker 4>like it's a great way to make some bank and
<v Speaker 4>I guess make a little bit of money back because
<v Speaker 4>these weddings aren't cheap.
<v Speaker 2>Well that's what they say, say seat fillers essentially.
<v Speaker 1>I mean we're talking thousands of dollars you're gonna save here.
<v Speaker 1>It's not like a couple hundred bucks will be shaved off.
<v Speaker 1>Like this is a lot of money that they're gonna
<v Speaker 1>pocket if they can get it, you know, going.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I mean I wonder how much it is per seat,
<v Speaker 4>like a hundred bucks.
<v Speaker 1>Well you figure it's got what do you think it's
<v Speaker 1>like seventy to one hundred dollars per person when you're
<v Speaker 1>planning a wedding, when it comes to the food, the
<v Speaker 1>you know, as far as decorations, anything, per person, it's
<v Speaker 1>like seventy to one hundred dollars.
<v Speaker 3>I think.
<v Speaker 1>So if you get ten people to buy a ticket
<v Speaker 1>at one hun hundred dollars, like one hundred dollars a piece,
<v Speaker 1>that's one thousand dollars, right, Yeah, there you go for
<v Speaker 1>ten people.
<v Speaker 3>So if you get twenty people, there's two grand. Like
<v Speaker 3>I mean, if you got a weddy.
<v Speaker 1>She says, she has twenty five empty seats. If she
<v Speaker 1>can get all twenty five filled. That's twenty five hundred
<v Speaker 1>dollars if we're charging one hundred dollars a person. So
<v Speaker 1>I just think this is kind of genius.
<v Speaker 4>All lines are open too, if you guys want to
<v Speaker 4>sound off about this. We love talking to our listeners.
<v Speaker 4>You guys can give your opinion. Maybe you've used this service,
<v Speaker 4>or you just want to say, hey, well there's a
<v Speaker 4>nooy in how I.
<v Speaker 5>Would do this?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah? Would you do this?
<v Speaker 4>Threeal three six nine one sixteen forty nine three O
<v Speaker 4>three six nine one sixteen forty nine is your direct
<v Speaker 4>link into the studios. Now I do get fiance's We
<v Speaker 4>got to give him a name. Mitch, it'll be Mitch, please, Mitch.
<v Speaker 3>Mitch and kuris Mitch and Carrissa.
<v Speaker 2>Wedding.
<v Speaker 4>I can see Mitch's point of view too, where it's like,
<v Speaker 4>I don't want to spend my whole wedding wondering who
<v Speaker 4>these strangers are sitting out in the crowd, because I
<v Speaker 4>feel like it would take my focus off the bride
<v Speaker 4>and the family.
<v Speaker 2>And all that.
<v Speaker 4>You're just the whole time, you're like, who are these clowns?
<v Speaker 4>And they are they stealing stuff? And Hi Christine, Oh,
<v Speaker 4>good morning, well, good morning to you.
<v Speaker 2>So what do you think Carrissa and Mitch should do
<v Speaker 2>at this wedding?
<v Speaker 6>I'm also getting married in the fall this year, and
<v Speaker 6>I think it's weird first off, But I also am
<v Speaker 6>confused because you give the venue your final numbers two
<v Speaker 6>weeks before the event, and they change the price based
<v Speaker 6>off of how many people you give on that two weeks.
<v Speaker 6>So for me, it sounds like she just wants to
<v Speaker 6>appear like she's having this big, extraordinary wedding. Oh, doesn't
<v Speaker 6>actually care that it's intimate.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, that's a good point. So it's not about the
<v Speaker 1>money at all. It's about filling those seats and looking
<v Speaker 1>like more people attended your nuptials.
<v Speaker 6>Yes, that's what I think.
<v Speaker 4>Take any sense that's I didn't even think about that
<v Speaker 4>she's evil. Well, if it's not that situation, I guess
<v Speaker 4>would you agree, Like would you do this for your wedding?
<v Speaker 4>Like if you had seats to fill and you want
<v Speaker 4>to recoup money, do you think Carissa should do this?
<v Speaker 5>True? And not?
<v Speaker 6>What if one of the seat fillers, mitche I was
<v Speaker 6>in love with you? Literally don't know?
<v Speaker 3>Boy?
<v Speaker 2>The plot thickens with you.
<v Speaker 1>Christine the soul made of the groom and you'll never know.
<v Speaker 2>Ye what am I doing?
<v Speaker 4>And he leaves with one of these guests.
<v Speaker 2>All right, so I'm putting you down for no, don't
<v Speaker 2>do it.
<v Speaker 4>Christine, thank you so much for calling and voicing your opinion.
<v Speaker 2>Here's Juliet Hi.
<v Speaker 4>Juliette Hi, Hey girl, Hey, Okay, so what do you
<v Speaker 4>think about the Carissa Mitch wedding and the seat fillers.
<v Speaker 5>I don't think it's a bad idea, Like I was
<v Speaker 5>saying earlier, in like the Hispanic culture, anybody that's in
<v Speaker 5>the wedding, they usually have to pitch in towards the wedding,
<v Speaker 5>and then there's also like a money dance too, So
<v Speaker 5>I don't think it would be a bad idea. I
<v Speaker 5>also to like, you never know, maybe these people were
<v Speaker 5>oh and you make some new friends.
<v Speaker 3>Okay.
<v Speaker 1>So you're saying that there are already traditions installed that are,
<v Speaker 1>you know, trying to raise money for the wedding, So
<v Speaker 1>this wouldn't be too far from that. People are already
<v Speaker 1>trying to raise funds as part of the wedding. So
<v Speaker 1>this isn't like tacky, but that's generally your relatives, right,
<v Speaker 1>because we know, the money dance. Your relative comes up
<v Speaker 1>and dances with you or whatever and they give you
<v Speaker 1>ten bucks. Yeah yeah, but this would be total strangers
<v Speaker 1>dancing with strangers, but people paying for the wedding part, Like,
<v Speaker 1>that's not common in a lot of cultures. So you know,
<v Speaker 1>you're asking people to pitch in for money there. So
<v Speaker 1>I think that's what the lines are here, right, Juliette,
<v Speaker 1>Is that you're already asking your you know, family for money.
<v Speaker 1>Why not ask some strangers to pitch in?
<v Speaker 6>Yeah?
<v Speaker 5>I mean I think it would be like a good
<v Speaker 5>story too, to look back on our past pictures and
<v Speaker 5>be like, hey, this person showed up on my wedding.
<v Speaker 5>They were really cool or something.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, this random guy danced with me and we fell
<v Speaker 2>in there and gave me buck. Juliette, I have yes.
<v Speaker 2>So we have one yes and one not right now.
<v Speaker 4>Now here's Kelsey, Hi, Kelsey, good morning morning. All right,
<v Speaker 4>the Carissa Mitch wedding, is it a go to bring
<v Speaker 4>the strangers in or not?
<v Speaker 6>Ooh uh? So, out of respect for the fiance, I
<v Speaker 6>would say no, But hands down I would buy a ticket.
<v Speaker 3>I would so go me too.
<v Speaker 4>You would be one of these people that just goes
<v Speaker 4>and hangs out at random wedding.
<v Speaker 6>I get to dress up, I get cake. I'd even
<v Speaker 6>bring a gift.
<v Speaker 1>See.
<v Speaker 4>See, there is the thing too, where you start like
<v Speaker 4>doing the math on what a Friday or Saturday night
<v Speaker 4>out would be. You know, you go and what to
<v Speaker 4>dinner in a movie, dinner and comedy works or whatever,
<v Speaker 4>You're gonna be spending the same amount. Essentially, why not
<v Speaker 4>go to a wedding where you can meet people and yes,
<v Speaker 4>you're right, get all fancy looking and have a good time.
<v Speaker 2>I kind of like it. I wonder can you do
<v Speaker 2>it where you get paid?
<v Speaker 3>No, I think you'd have to pay for it.
<v Speaker 2>I want a service where I get paid.
<v Speaker 1>I'm for it as well, just because I've always wanted
<v Speaker 1>to crash a wedding, but I'm afraid I'm gonna get caught.
<v Speaker 3>And this way that removes that.
<v Speaker 1>I still get to say I crashed a wedding even
<v Speaker 1>though I paid for it.
<v Speaker 3>And who knows. I may meet like.
<v Speaker 1>Some new best friends and you know, mister Wright, he's
<v Speaker 1>at this wedding the whole time.
<v Speaker 3>Like that's where I'm like, that's intrigued. I'm with you, Kelsey.
<v Speaker 3>I'd totally do it.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, Kelsey, but I am putting you down for no
<v Speaker 4>in general, but you would go as a just a seat.
<v Speaker 2>Filler, right, Oh totally okay, cool, I got your vote.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you for calling Kelsey. Well it was essentially two
<v Speaker 2>to one.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, So don't do it. Be on the side of Mitch,
<v Speaker 4>who's just like this probably.
<v Speaker 2>Isn't a good idea. Let's just focus on our own
<v Speaker 2>personal friends and family, but.
<v Speaker 3>Buy a ticket to some other stranger's wedding and rip it.
<v Speaker 2>Uh want to do it? It does sound kind of fun,
<v Speaker 2>isn't it.
<v Speaker 3>I want to go.
<v Speaker 4>Well, it's a whole new world in the the world
<v Speaker 4>of weddings, I'll tell you that much. This has definitely
<v Speaker 4>not happened when I got married. If you guys ever
