<v Speaker 1>Wednesday, June tenth, twenty twenty six, you are listening to
<v Speaker 1>the Daily Dose Sports podcast and I am your host,
<v Speaker 1>Clinton Daily, coming to you from my city here in Denver, Colorado,
<v Speaker 1>and we are back for another week of talking sports
<v Speaker 1>with a dose of common sense. Hey, Happy Wednesday to you.
<v Speaker 1>Hope your week is going well. You are now halfway
<v Speaker 1>to another weekend that is coming quickly, and I hope
<v Speaker 1>that you, your family and friends, everyone in your world
<v Speaker 1>is staying strong and staying healthy right now. And Hey,
<v Speaker 1>today I'm a dose. I've actually got something a little
<v Speaker 1>bit different for you. I actually have some business that
<v Speaker 1>I need to attend to. But never fear, because I
<v Speaker 1>have hooked you up with a few Daily Dose top
<v Speaker 1>fives from the days of yours that passed. Yeah, your
<v Speaker 1>let's go with yr. We are going to actually be
<v Speaker 1>heavily NBA flavored today and we're going to go back
<v Speaker 1>to some of the early days of the podcast. And
<v Speaker 1>remember back when we counted down the top five NBA
<v Speaker 1>draft busts of all time, the top five NBA conspiracies
<v Speaker 1>of all time. Might be able to add to that
<v Speaker 1>list this year with nonsense going on in that league
<v Speaker 1>this year. Holy count, and then we also have the
<v Speaker 1>top five NBA Draft steals of all time. So yeah,
<v Speaker 1>we've got some busty draft picks. We've got some steals
<v Speaker 1>as well. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a throwback
<v Speaker 1>episode of the Daily Dough Sports podcast, as we do
<v Speaker 1>every single week. We have got to get to our
<v Speaker 1>daily Dose top five. And I know we've been very
<v Speaker 1>very NBA heavy. The NBA is, you know, wrapping up
<v Speaker 1>and finishing up. We have the draft, we have all
<v Speaker 1>this free agent stuff happening. We've got to go with
<v Speaker 1>an NBA Top five today, our NBA Top five today,
<v Speaker 1>and it's hard to tell. It's it's really really hard
<v Speaker 1>to tell. We're gonna go with with the top five
<v Speaker 1>NBA Draft busts of all time. And the thing about this,
<v Speaker 1>when I look at the NBA Draft this year, we
<v Speaker 1>can look at some of these players, We can look
<v Speaker 1>at some of these guys that were drafted in the
<v Speaker 1>first round, and I promise you there's gonna be a
<v Speaker 1>few bus I'll guarantee there's gonna be a few busts.
<v Speaker 1>Some of these guys will never ever amount to being players.
<v Speaker 1>It might be because they're lazy, it might be because
<v Speaker 1>they don't have a drive. It might be because they
<v Speaker 1>get injured, it might be because they just are in the
<v Speaker 1>wrong system. You never know what it's gonna be. Now,
<v Speaker 1>when I look at busts, it's easy to look at
<v Speaker 1>some of these guys and say, hey, they a great
<v Speaker 1>player was taken after them, and so you're a bust.
<v Speaker 1>Look at a guy like Sam Bouie. Sam Bouie gets
<v Speaker 1>drafted back in the day. He's the second pick after
<v Speaker 1>a Chema LaJuan. With the second pick, Portland takes Sam Bouie,
<v Speaker 1>and then with the third pick, the Chicago Bulls take
<v Speaker 1>Michael Jordan. He'll always be linked with Michael Jordan. But
<v Speaker 1>Sam Bowie wasn't a horrible player. I mean he put
<v Speaker 1>up I think he played in the league like ten years.
<v Speaker 1>He had like over five thousand points in his career.
<v Speaker 1>He had a number of injuries. But because he was
<v Speaker 1>picked before Michael Jordan. That's the thing that we always remember. Now,
<v Speaker 1>the guys that I'm gonna name you, We'll talk about
<v Speaker 1>some of the people that were picked after them, But
<v Speaker 1>the guys I'm gonna name you, they were busts because
<v Speaker 1>they probably should never have been picked to begin with,
<v Speaker 1>they had some issues, they had some problems, there were
<v Speaker 1>some flaws with their game. And you know these guys
<v Speaker 1>on draft night, these these really really smart guys, they say, well, no,
<v Speaker 1>this is the pick, this is the guy, this is
<v Speaker 1>who we should take. It makes the most sense. Well,
<v Speaker 1>let's just see number five on our list Daily Doo's
<v Speaker 1>top five NBA Draft busts. And I had to stay
<v Speaker 1>local on one of these. You knew I was gonna
<v Speaker 1>go with something in Denver on one of these because
<v Speaker 1>of the horrible franchise that is the Denver Nuggets. Number five.
<v Speaker 1>Now he's taken a little bit later in the draft.
<v Speaker 1>That's not the point. Nineteen seventy eight NBA Draft, with
<v Speaker 1>the number seventeen pick, the Denver Nuggets select Rod Griffin
<v Speaker 1>from wake Forest. Rod Griffin. Who's that? Who's Rod Griffin?
<v Speaker 1>Let me tell you why you don't know who Rod
<v Speaker 1>Griffin is because he didn't even make the opening day roster.
<v Speaker 1>He was with the team a few weeks and they
<v Speaker 1>cut him number seventeen pick. I'm not talking about second round,
<v Speaker 1>number seventeen pick. In the entire draft. At the time,
<v Speaker 1>I think the NBA only consisted of like twenty two teams,
<v Speaker 1>seventeen pick in the entire draft, didn't make the opening
<v Speaker 1>day roster, and never played career over. Your season's over,
<v Speaker 1>Your career's over. Never got on the floor a single
<v Speaker 1>time in a true NBA game after him. Let me
<v Speaker 1>give you two players that were selected after Rod Griffin
<v Speaker 1>that the Nuggets could have had. They could have had
<v Speaker 1>a point guard by the name of ma Rees Cheeks
<v Speaker 1>who went on to have a phenomenal career with Philadelphia
<v Speaker 1>seventy six ers. They could have had Wayne Cooper, who
<v Speaker 1>at least was a serviceable big man, but instead they
<v Speaker 1>went with Rod Griffin. Rod Griffin never made a roster,
<v Speaker 1>never played a minute of true NBA basketball. Number four,
<v Speaker 1>with the number two pick in the two thousand and
<v Speaker 1>nine draft, the Memphis Grivelies select out of Yukon, Hashim
<v Speaker 1>the Beat now hashimth the Beat had some red flags
<v Speaker 1>when he came out when he was coming out of college.
<v Speaker 1>He had some red flags when he was at Yukon.
<v Speaker 1>There was a game at Yukon late when they were
<v Speaker 1>playing back there. He's playing for Jim Calhoun where he
<v Speaker 1>kind of quit. He like wouldn't get off the bench
<v Speaker 1>and Calhoun and him were having words and there were
<v Speaker 1>some issues. Hashimth the beat just kind of quit. And
<v Speaker 1>then when he got to the league, everyone's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>but look at what he has. Defensively, He does so much.
<v Speaker 1>He was such a long guy, he was so athletic.
<v Speaker 1>He played with four different teams in five years. He
<v Speaker 1>averaged two point two points game for his career and
<v Speaker 1>was out of the league. Was out of league by
<v Speaker 1>twenty thirteen. Totally done. Hashimhabi gets our number four slot,
<v Speaker 1>number three on our list of NBA draft bus. We
<v Speaker 1>got to go back to nineteen seventy two again, those
<v Speaker 1>Portland Trailblazers, they always seem to have a tough time,
<v Speaker 1>you know. In nineteen seventy two, Portland selects a guy
<v Speaker 1>by the name of LaRue Martin. LaRue Martin was was
<v Speaker 1>a six' eleven big man coming out Of loyola In,
<v Speaker 1>chicago and his situation was it wasn't that he had
<v Speaker 1>like a drug, problem it wasn't that he was, lazy
<v Speaker 1>it wasn't that he had any of these issues that
<v Speaker 1>some of these guys. Have he wasn't very good and
<v Speaker 1>as a, Result LaRue martin lasted just four seasons and
<v Speaker 1>he was out of the league by nineteen seventy, six
<v Speaker 1>averaged five points per. Game and here's the sad part
<v Speaker 1>For LaRue. Martin by seventy, six he was out of the.
<v Speaker 1>Game and that was the year That portland went on
<v Speaker 1>and won THE nba. Championship but let me give you
<v Speaker 1>two players that were selected After LaRue. Martin, Sorry, PORTLAND
<v Speaker 1>i know this. Hurts bob, McAdoo you might have heard of.
<v Speaker 1>Him and then The New Jersey nets selected a guy
<v Speaker 1>by the name of, Yeah Julius. Irving ooh, ooh that.
<v Speaker 1>Hurts that hurts a little bit when you hear those two.
<v Speaker 1>Names moving on to our number two pick in the
<v Speaker 1>nineteen eighty six, draft The Golden State warriors select with
<v Speaker 1>the number three pick overall out Of North Carolina, State Chris.
<v Speaker 1>Washburn And Chris washburn was a guy that there were
<v Speaker 1>huge red flags on. Drafting he had been in trouble at.
<v Speaker 1>School when he was At Carolina, state he had LIKE
<v Speaker 1>i don't, know broken into a house and stolen a
<v Speaker 1>stereo or. Something in THE, nba he failed three different
<v Speaker 1>drug tests three different, times ended up in, rehab had
<v Speaker 1>a cocaine addiction all kinds of problems For Chris washburn
<v Speaker 1>played for three different ta in just two, seasons averaged
<v Speaker 1>three points a, game and was completely out of the
<v Speaker 1>league by nineteen eighty. Nine Chris washburn gets our number
<v Speaker 1>two pick on Our Daily Dose top FIVE Nba Draft,
<v Speaker 1>bus our number one. PLAYER i feel bad putting this
<v Speaker 1>guy at number. ONE i LEGITIMATELY i feel bad putting
<v Speaker 1>this guy at number, one BUT i have to number
<v Speaker 1>one on our. LIST Nba Draft bus two thousand and.
<v Speaker 1>Seven Again, Portland. Portland why do you keep doing? This
<v Speaker 1>you need to hire new draft, People. Portland i'm available
<v Speaker 1>for the right. Price Portland trailblazers select out Of Ohio
<v Speaker 1>State center seven Foot Greg. Odin Greg odin was a,
<v Speaker 1>guy And i'll be. Honest when this draft was coming,
<v Speaker 1>OUT i was looking At odin, going no dude can.
<v Speaker 1>PLAY i saw him play At Ohio. State can on the,
<v Speaker 1>floor very very good, Defensively he'll work hard for, you can,
<v Speaker 1>rebound can be a monster at the. RIM i liked
<v Speaker 1>a lot of what Greg odin had and what he
<v Speaker 1>brought to the. Table the problem with Greg odin you
<v Speaker 1>can't stay. Healthy two microfracture surgeries really really early in his.
<v Speaker 1>Career he just can never get. Healthy and then after
<v Speaker 1>he had the one, microfracture he just blew the other one,
<v Speaker 1>out so then he had THE acl and had to
<v Speaker 1>have that. Surgery just can never get. Healthy he has
<v Speaker 1>played a part in just three, seasons has a total
<v Speaker 1>of five hundred and FORTY nba. POINTS a couple players
<v Speaker 1>that were picked after, him of, course the big name
<v Speaker 1>you'll always, Remember Kevin durant was taken with the second,
<v Speaker 1>Pick Mark, Gasol Joe, Kim, Noah Al horford H portland,
<v Speaker 1>again you have got to redo the way you draft.
<v Speaker 1>People Anytime portland drafts, someone you have to be just
<v Speaker 1>a little bit nervous for. Them now as we do
<v Speaker 1>every single, week we have got to get to our
<v Speaker 1>daily dose top. Five LIKE i, said like we were
<v Speaker 1>just talking, about THE nba is above reproach when it
<v Speaker 1>comes to competitive integrity. Rights there's no reason to doubt.
<v Speaker 1>Him so WHEN i hear that they're not going to
<v Speaker 1>Suspend draymond dream from The Oklahoma City series because they're
<v Speaker 1>down three to, one well that's just how things work.
<v Speaker 1>Out they, just for whatever, reason they just didn't feel
<v Speaker 1>like like he needed to be. Suspended there sure it
<v Speaker 1>was a flagrant, Too sure was called right there on the,
<v Speaker 1>floor but, whatever he didn't really need to be. Suspended,
<v Speaker 1>yes he had already racked up the points and the
<v Speaker 1>accumulated the points or, whatever but he didn't need to be.
<v Speaker 1>Suspend but now he gets a flagrant one on a
<v Speaker 1>kind of if he call, Yes lebron probably baited into.
<v Speaker 1>Him he shouldn't have done. It throwing the arm out
<v Speaker 1>there does put yourself at. Risk but THEN i see
<v Speaker 1>THE nba kind of switch that and, say, well now
<v Speaker 1>we're gonna suspend him because they're up three to one
<v Speaker 1>so they can afford a little. MORE i don't, know
<v Speaker 1>there's no reason to doubt THE nba on, this is? There,
<v Speaker 1>well there's probably not a single reason to doubt THE
<v Speaker 1>nba on, this is? There not when it comes to competitive? Integrity, Right,
<v Speaker 1>yeah there's probably not one. Reason there's probably like a thousand.
<v Speaker 1>Reasons today's daily Dose top, five the top FIVE nba.
<v Speaker 1>Conspiracies they probably aren't. True they're Probably and the Whole
<v Speaker 1>Draymond green thing not being suspended and then being that's
<v Speaker 1>just all a wacky, coincidence right, Right let's, see because
<v Speaker 1>some of These i'll be, honest some of these that
<v Speaker 1>made the and they're the most popular. Conspiracies it's not
<v Speaker 1>necessarily THAT i picked the nastiest ones or the or
<v Speaker 1>the ones that really really look the. Worst they're just
<v Speaker 1>the most popular. ONES i just picked the most. Popular
<v Speaker 1>but here's a few conspiracies that have happened in THE
<v Speaker 1>nba that might make you reconsider number five on our,
<v Speaker 1>List Michael jordan's first. Retirement the big rumor was that
<v Speaker 1>the reason he retired that first time was that it
<v Speaker 1>was dictated by the league because of all his. Gambling
<v Speaker 1>we do know that THE nba was Investigating jordan's gambling.
<v Speaker 1>Habits of, course nothing came of, it And jordan's dad had,
<v Speaker 1>been you, know, murdered and he wanted to get away from,
<v Speaker 1>basketball and he wanted to go live a dream that
<v Speaker 1>his act his dad had actually talked to him, about you,
<v Speaker 1>know you got to quit and go play. Baseball you
<v Speaker 1>gotta quit and go play. Baseball so he quit and
<v Speaker 1>he went and played. Baseball BUT i know that there's
<v Speaker 1>a lot of people that look at that and, say, well,
<v Speaker 1>yeah that was because the league made. Him Love, NOW
<v Speaker 1>i can't come up with a reason why the league
<v Speaker 1>would be, like we want less. Money like everybody here
<v Speaker 1>has decided we're all, okay, guys you, okay okay with,
<v Speaker 1>It we're all, okay, yeah we all want less. Money
<v Speaker 1>nobody here wants to make, money and so we want
<v Speaker 1>you to leave for a. While it doesn't make a
<v Speaker 1>lot of, sense but but popular conspiracy. Theory when it
<v Speaker 1>comes to THE Nba number four on our, list THE
<v Speaker 1>nba prefers large market. Teams something to think, about just
<v Speaker 1>a small stat That i'd like you to keep in
<v Speaker 1>the back of your. Mind in the past thirty six,
<v Speaker 1>years there's only been ten different franchises that have won the.
<v Speaker 1>Championship only ten in thirty six. Years, yeah you go
<v Speaker 1>over to like THE, nfl there's a few more than,
<v Speaker 1>that isn't? There go over To Major League, baseball quite
<v Speaker 1>a few teams have won. It but in THE nba
<v Speaker 1>is ten in thirty and it's probably we could probably
<v Speaker 1>put a lot more years into. That but here's the
<v Speaker 1>teams that have won. It here's the cities that have won.
<v Speaker 1>It see what they all have in. Common see if
<v Speaker 1>these cities have anything in. Common Los, angeles The San
<v Speaker 1>Francisco Bay, Area, Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Houston, Dallas San, Antonio.
<v Speaker 1>Miami what do they all have in? Common, huh that's pretty.
<v Speaker 1>Amazing that's pretty. Amazing they all have a lot of
<v Speaker 1>fans and they all bring in HUGE tv ratings and
<v Speaker 1>huge sponsorship. Deals pretty amazing how that. Works isn't it
<v Speaker 1>just a? COINCIDENCE i? Know number three top FIVE nba
<v Speaker 1>conspiracies has to be the nineteen eighty five. Draft you
<v Speaker 1>know how every once in a while there's this sure
<v Speaker 1>thing at the top of the. Draft it doesn't, happen
<v Speaker 1>and we haven't seen it happen in quite a. While
<v Speaker 1>but you, know you'll have The shaquille, O'Neill you'll have
<v Speaker 1>The Tim, duncan you'll have The Lebron James. Well nineteen
<v Speaker 1>eighty five had that big time With georgetown Center Patrick.
<v Speaker 1>Ewing everyone looked At ewing and, said, dude this guy
<v Speaker 1>is a he's going to be a great player for
<v Speaker 1>a long. Time and at the, time what THE nba
<v Speaker 1>did when they did their. Lottery so now you have
<v Speaker 1>the ping pong balls and, whatever and we can discuss
<v Speaker 1>how if that's clean or. Not but what THE nba
<v Speaker 1>would do is they would take like the bottom six
<v Speaker 1>or seven. Teams they would put the names in a big,
<v Speaker 1>envelope and then they would put the envelope in a
<v Speaker 1>big clear. Drum they would spin the. Drum they would,
<v Speaker 1>randomly of, course select who got the top. Pick they
<v Speaker 1>would take the big envelope, out they would go set
<v Speaker 1>it under the team, name and then they would all
<v Speaker 1>open them and see who got first. Pick so here
<v Speaker 1>are the teams that were in it in nineteen eighty.
<v Speaker 1>Five New, York, indiana The, clippers Se, Atlanta, sacramento And
<v Speaker 1>Golden state all had an. Envelope they all had an.
<v Speaker 1>Envelope of, course we know that THE nba likes large market.
<v Speaker 1>Teams we just talked about that at number Four New.
<v Speaker 1>York it would be kind of nice if The knicks
<v Speaker 1>were good every once in a. While and the rumor
<v Speaker 1>is that the envelope for The knicks had been frozen
<v Speaker 1>so that When Davis stern reached his, dirty little grubby
<v Speaker 1>hand in, there he would be able to find the
<v Speaker 1>cold one and put it up. First that's the. Rumor
<v Speaker 1>there's also a rumor that the envelope was. Bent it
<v Speaker 1>had a little bend in. It now you might sit
<v Speaker 1>there and say what difference does it. Make here's the.
<v Speaker 1>Thing if you go back and you watch, this it's on,
<v Speaker 1>YouTube you can go find. It when the guy comes out,
<v Speaker 1>there he has a stack of like six or seven.
<v Speaker 1>Envelopes he tosses all of them. In he just kind
<v Speaker 1>of sets him in the bottom of the. Drum one
<v Speaker 1>of them he bangs against the side of the. Drum
<v Speaker 1>maybe it's just GOING i don't, KNOW i don't have any.
<v Speaker 1>Idea but here's how the draft. Went first, pick The
<v Speaker 1>knicks Got Patrick. Ewing with the second, Pick indiana Got Wayman.
<v Speaker 1>Tisdale The clippers Took Benoit, Benjamin seattle Took xavier, McDaniel
<v Speaker 1>atlanta took big Man john, Concakt sacramento Got Joe, klein
<v Speaker 1>and The Golden State warriors ended up With Chris. Mullen
<v Speaker 1>but The knicks got exactly who they. Wanted kind of
<v Speaker 1>amazing how that worked, Out isn't it pretty? Impressive the
<v Speaker 1>nineteen eighty five draft comes in at number. Three number
<v Speaker 1>two on our. List top FIVE nba conspiracies has to
<v Speaker 1>be the two thousand and SEVEN nba playoff game between
<v Speaker 1>The San Antonio spurs and The Phoenix. Suns this was game,
<v Speaker 1>four The spurs were up two to. One The sons
<v Speaker 1>took the lead late in the game And spurs Forward
<v Speaker 1>robert or body Checks sons point Guard Steve nash into
<v Speaker 1>the scoring. Table he was. Ejected nash is knocked into
<v Speaker 1>THE i, mean this is a hard, hit this is
<v Speaker 1>a football. Hit he blasted him or he gets. Ejected
<v Speaker 1>But sons Players rajah Bell Amari, stadomar And Boris dia
<v Speaker 1>all left the bench to go make Sure Steve nash,
<v Speaker 1>was you, know, alive still, functioning still had a, pulse
<v Speaker 1>and you, know it's kind of. Amazing it just kind
<v Speaker 1>of worked out this. Way but when they all got
<v Speaker 1>up to see How nash was, doing kind of go
<v Speaker 1>to his. Aid after the, game which The, sons by the, way,
<v Speaker 1>one they held on and won the. Game they Won game.
<v Speaker 1>Four THE nba suspended those players for leaving the. Bench
<v Speaker 1>there was no, fight there was no real. Scuffle they got,
<v Speaker 1>up they went and checked on their, teammate But David stern, said,
<v Speaker 1>nope you left the. Bench, sorry got to suspend. It
<v Speaker 1>that's the letter of the. Law that's what we have
<v Speaker 1>to do. Here that's just how business works here at THE.
<v Speaker 1>Nba we do things by the letter of the, law
<v Speaker 1>except when we don't needless to say The sons would
<v Speaker 1>lose the the next two games without their top. Players
<v Speaker 1>those are pretty good. Players they Lost Stadamarron. Boris they
<v Speaker 1>are you killing? Me kidding me? That that's not even.
<v Speaker 1>Close spurs went on to finish it in. Six sons
<v Speaker 1>never won another. Game number two on our List sons
<v Speaker 1>Versus spurs in two thousand and, seven and the number
<v Speaker 1>one conspiracy on our. List what else could it? Be
<v Speaker 1>this is the one two thousand and two game. Six
<v Speaker 1>the lowly small Market Sacramento kings actually led The lakers
<v Speaker 1>three to two in this, series and if they won this,
<v Speaker 1>game they would be going to THE Nba. Finals the
<v Speaker 1>game was tied going into the fourth, quarter and in
<v Speaker 1>the fourth quarter The Los Angeles lakers shot twenty seven free.
<v Speaker 1>Throws at one point in the, Game Kobe bryant full
<v Speaker 1>on Elbowed Mike bibbe directly in his, face right in
<v Speaker 1>front of an, official no, call no. Foul they might
<v Speaker 1>sit there and, say, well you're, biased that you're you're.
<v Speaker 1>Biased you know who's not? BIASED nba Reporter WASHINGTON dc
<v Speaker 1>Columnist Mike, wilbon who SAID i counted at least six stunning,
<v Speaker 1>calls and every single one of them went against The.
<v Speaker 1>Kings sacramento Forward Chris weber said that the game felt.
<v Speaker 1>Sinister it didn't matter what we. Did we knew they
<v Speaker 1>would call it against. Us The lakers won one oh
<v Speaker 1>six to one oh. Two then they eked out A
<v Speaker 1>game seven that was, very very, close and of course
<v Speaker 1>ROGUE nba Ref Tim doneghie, said oh, yeah the fix
<v Speaker 1>was in on that. One you had you had to
<v Speaker 1>check the, spread you, had you had to know how
<v Speaker 1>that was gonna. Go they wanted that series to go.
<v Speaker 1>Seven they wanted to make sure that The lakers, won
<v Speaker 1>and they. Did they made sure of it by awarding
<v Speaker 1>free throw after free throw down the. STRETCH i don't,
<v Speaker 1>know you. Know of, course The lakers ended up Winning game.
<v Speaker 1>Seven they went to The. Finals they beat The New Jersey.
<v Speaker 1>Nets so WHEN i See Draymond green not suspended when
<v Speaker 1>he's down three to, one and then get suspended when
<v Speaker 1>The warriors are up three to, one it makes me
<v Speaker 1>wonder just a little. Bit would THE nba manipulate the
<v Speaker 1>outcome of? GAMES i, mean could that? Happen, WELL i don't,
<v Speaker 1>know but they may have before, now as we do
<v Speaker 1>every single, week we've got to get to our daily
<v Speaker 1>dose top. Five you, know we talked about THE Nba.
<v Speaker 1>Draft we looked at some of the players that came,
<v Speaker 1>Out we looked at some of the teams and what
<v Speaker 1>they did with their draft. Selections and when we look
<v Speaker 1>at the draft this, YEAR i don't know that there's
<v Speaker 1>that many franchise. GUYS i don't know if there's that
<v Speaker 1>many guys that you look at and just, say, hey
<v Speaker 1>they could really take a. Franchise the problem is that
<v Speaker 1>we're getting these eighteen nineteen year old kids that come
<v Speaker 1>out and what they're they're gonna change a. Franchise they're.
<v Speaker 1>Not they're not capable of changing a franchise. Yet maybe in, two,
<v Speaker 1>three four years we can start to see, that but
<v Speaker 1>they're just there's not many Franchise Ben simmons Is Ben
<v Speaker 1>simmons Gonna is he gonna end up doing? ANYTHING i don't.
<v Speaker 1>KNOW i like some of what he brings to the,
<v Speaker 1>table Brandon ingram with the with The. Lakers is he
<v Speaker 1>gonna be the guy that kind of turns the momentum
<v Speaker 1>out IN la and gets The lakers going. AGAIN i don't.
<v Speaker 1>Know that's a that's a pretty, thin, narrow skinny back
<v Speaker 1>that you're gonna try to put a big franchise. On we.
<v Speaker 1>Don't it doesn't seem like we have these franchise. Guys
<v Speaker 1>but here's one thing to think. About there's been a
<v Speaker 1>number of times in the past that teams have gotten
<v Speaker 1>some really really good values late in the. Draft so
<v Speaker 1>maybe we're looking at the top. Guys we're looking At,
<v Speaker 1>simmons we're looking At, ingram we're looking at guys Like
<v Speaker 1>Chris dunn and some of the top players coming in
<v Speaker 1>on the. Draft but maybe it's the guys later in
<v Speaker 1>the draft that are going to develop and are going
<v Speaker 1>to end up being the best players to come. Out
<v Speaker 1>let's take a look today on Our Daily Dose top,
<v Speaker 1>five we look at top five THE Nba draft. Steals
<v Speaker 1>these guys weren't even really known. About they were taken,
<v Speaker 1>Late they were taken in the second sometimes even the third,
<v Speaker 1>round ended up being, phenomenal phenomenal cornerstones to a. Franchise
<v Speaker 1>so maybe we got to look at this just a
<v Speaker 1>little bit. Differently let's take a look at The Daily
<v Speaker 1>Dose top FIVE Nba draft steals of all. Time number
<v Speaker 1>five on our list Now this guy was actually From,
<v Speaker 1>chicago but he attended high school In. California and here's
<v Speaker 1>a little known. Fact you might not know about this
<v Speaker 1>player because of his. Size he's a big. Guy he
<v Speaker 1>was actually chosen to play a sleeve stack on the
<v Speaker 1>seventies kids Show land of The. Lost, yeah he didn't know,
<v Speaker 1>that did. Ja he ended up At Notre, dame but
<v Speaker 1>he wasn't a big. Name he wasn't a big time.
<v Speaker 1>Player he went To Notre. Dame he lasted until the
<v Speaker 1>third round of the draft and he was drafted sixty
<v Speaker 1>fifth by The Cleveland. Cavaliers played a year In, italy
<v Speaker 1>and he came back and rejoined The. Cavs he would
<v Speaker 1>eventually be traded to The Detroit pistons and then he
<v Speaker 1>ended up playing fourteen. Seasons he scored almost fourteen thousand. Points,
<v Speaker 1>yeah he was one of the cornerstones of the Bad
<v Speaker 1>boys In. DETROIT a four Time All, star a two
<v Speaker 1>TIME Nba. Champion he led THE nba in rebounding in
<v Speaker 1>nineteen eighty. Six his number forty is retired by The.
<v Speaker 1>Pistons But Bill lambert wasn't taken until the third round
<v Speaker 1>of the, draft sixty fifth pick For Bill, ambier he
<v Speaker 1>ended up being pretty. Good he ended up Being, yes
<v Speaker 1>he was a dirty little bit of a, thug, yeah
<v Speaker 1>and also really really really. Good he's number five on our,
<v Speaker 1>list number, four number four player on our. List he
<v Speaker 1>was the eighth out of sixteen kids born and raised In, Compton.
<v Speaker 1>California he ended up going To Pepperdine university and was
<v Speaker 1>drafted by The Seattle SuperSonics in nineteen seventy six with
<v Speaker 1>the twenty ninth overall. Pick lasted until the second. Round
<v Speaker 1>but unlike our first, guy Unlike, lambier this guy started
<v Speaker 1>to show right away that he's pretty. Good there was
<v Speaker 1>no question he. Belonged there was no question that The
<v Speaker 1>sonics got a. Steal he was, aggressive he was a.
<v Speaker 1>Slasher you might not remember this if you don't go
<v Speaker 1>back far, enough a little before my, time but he
<v Speaker 1>was a guy that actually started to popularize a guy
<v Speaker 1>just slashing off the wing and just dunking it on.
<v Speaker 1>Somebody we think of that, now you think of A,
<v Speaker 1>jordan you think of A Lebron, james somebody like. That
<v Speaker 1>this guy is one of the guys that kind of started.
<v Speaker 1>That he led The Seattle SuperSonics to their ONLY nba
<v Speaker 1>title and he was Named FINALS. Mvp but you might
<v Speaker 1>remember him a little more when he ended up In
<v Speaker 1>boston and he was more of a. Defender he was
<v Speaker 1>more of just a solid point. Guard he was a
<v Speaker 1>three time, champion he was a five Time All, star
<v Speaker 1>scored fifteen thousand career, points and he was a six
<v Speaker 1>Time ALL Nba Defensive First. Teamer But Dennis johnson that
<v Speaker 1>played with The, celtics played with The, sonics he wasn't
<v Speaker 1>drafted that. High they didn't think a small. School he
<v Speaker 1>Wents pepperdinning and he's, like, no this is a guy
<v Speaker 1>that could, drive he could, slash he could, shoot and
<v Speaker 1>he was a tenacious. Defender Dennis johnson comes in at
<v Speaker 1>number four number three on our List top five. Steals
<v Speaker 1>the problem that this guy had growing. Up one he
<v Speaker 1>was a small. Guy he wasn't very, big and two
<v Speaker 1>his two sisters were better at basketball than he. Was
<v Speaker 1>his two sisters ended up going To Louisiana. Tech he
<v Speaker 1>ended up getting getting in high. School he's like five to.
<v Speaker 1>Six he's in high, school he's not really. Playing he's
<v Speaker 1>not really very. Good he ended up growing to six
<v Speaker 1>seven and he was drafted twenty seventh By detroit in
<v Speaker 1>nineteen eighty. Six he kind of made playing defense and
<v Speaker 1>being a rebounder kind of a popular, thing kind of.
<v Speaker 1>COOL i can go in AND i can just, CONTRIBUTE
<v Speaker 1>i can just play, DEFENSE i can just be a
<v Speaker 1>rebounder AND i can get playing. Time ended up playing
<v Speaker 1>for fourteen seasons. Again five TIME Nba, champion two Time All,
<v Speaker 1>star two Time Defensive player of The, year seven time rebounding.
<v Speaker 1>Champion he was, crazy But Dennis rodman won every pretty
<v Speaker 1>much everywhere he, went and he was probably a part
<v Speaker 1>of maybe the greatest, team one of the greatest teams
<v Speaker 1>ever ninety Six. Bowls played With, jordan and he knew his.
<v Speaker 1>Role he understood his. Role his role wasn't to go
<v Speaker 1>out and try to manufacture. Points how many guys do
<v Speaker 1>we see today, man just be a Rebound just be
<v Speaker 1>a defensive. Player, no, no, no we talked a little
<v Speaker 1>About Serge. Baka understand your. Role not that you can't ever,
<v Speaker 1>shoot but it's probably not your. Strength Dennis rodman understood
<v Speaker 1>his strengths and his. Weaknesses he's number, three number two
<v Speaker 1>on our. List he's a kid that grew up In.
<v Speaker 1>Argentina his dad and both of his brothers actually played pro.
<v Speaker 1>Ball he started playing professionally In argentina and then ended
<v Speaker 1>up going over To. Italy he was drafted by The
<v Speaker 1>San Antonio spurs with the fifty seventh pick of the
<v Speaker 1>nineteen ninety NINE nba. Draft, really fifty seventh, PICK i
<v Speaker 1>think about that, now on, dude they didn't go that
<v Speaker 1>high anymore in nineteen nine. Nine drafted with the fifty seventh.
<v Speaker 1>Pick played three more, years so he gets. Drafted he
<v Speaker 1>played three more years In. Italy it wasn't, Like, hey
<v Speaker 1>they drafted, Me i'm gonna co play For San. Antonio he's,
<v Speaker 1>LIKE i kind of like things here over, Here i'm
<v Speaker 1>doing pretty well In. Italy ended up joining The spurs
<v Speaker 1>in two thousand and, two and it kind of ended
<v Speaker 1>up being worth the wait because Managed genobili was a
<v Speaker 1>four TIME nba, champion two Time All, star and was
<v Speaker 1>THE nba sixth man in two thousand and. Eight But
<v Speaker 1>Managed genobili again not taken with a real high. Pick
<v Speaker 1>maybe we're looking at this draft a little bit. Off
<v Speaker 1>maybe we need to look at some of these picks
<v Speaker 1>that were taken later in the. Draft they might be
<v Speaker 1>the guys that actually end up shining our number ONE
<v Speaker 1>nba drafts deal of all. Time who could it? Be
<v Speaker 1>got any thoughts on? THIS i, mean this guy's pretty.
<v Speaker 1>Good he played high school ball In detroit and as
<v Speaker 1>a senior in high. School in high, school he averaged
<v Speaker 1>thirty one points and twenty rebounds per. Game he actually
<v Speaker 1>got a scholarship to go play at Cal State Long,
<v Speaker 1>beach which of course ended up being A Long beach.
<v Speaker 1>State he was gonna play For Jerry, tarkanian but when
<v Speaker 1>he went out To, california it was just too much culture.
<v Speaker 1>Shock he was just, LIKE i can't. HANG i GOTTA
<v Speaker 1>i gotta go. BACK i gotta go back To. Michigan
<v Speaker 1>that's Where i'm. From he went, back finished his college
<v Speaker 1>career At Eastern, michigan and he was drafted within the third,
<v Speaker 1>round number. Forty he was drafted with a fortieth pick
<v Speaker 1>of the nineteen seventy FOUR Nba draft By. Phoenix Now
<v Speaker 1>phoenix took him and they didn't even think that much of,
<v Speaker 1>him so they just sold his rights To San. Antonio
<v Speaker 1>but this guy could just. Score he ended up playing
<v Speaker 1>fourteen seasons in THE aba and n nine Time All,
<v Speaker 1>star six Time ALL Nba First, team four TIME nba scoring.
<v Speaker 1>Champion he scored over twenty six thousand points in his
<v Speaker 1>career AND i mean still to this. Day you go
<v Speaker 1>find the film he had the Finger Roll george The
<v Speaker 1>Iceman gervin lasted until the third round of THE Nba Draft.
<v Speaker 1>Icepan if if you can find a steal like that
<v Speaker 1>late in the, Rounds i'm pretty sure we can probably
<v Speaker 1>find some guys today that could end up being some. Steals,
<v Speaker 1>hey next week on The, does we will be getting
