<v Speaker 1>The SmackDown sweep is complete. Yeah, I said this on

<v Speaker 1>the podcast this week, and I said, you know, something

<v Speaker 1>I noticed over the course of this past week is

<v Speaker 1>that there is not a single SmackDown star who was

<v Speaker 1>advanced in either the King of the Ring or the

<v Speaker 1>Queen of the Ring tournament. And surely on SmackDown this

<v Speaker 1>week there would be at least one SmackDown name that

<v Speaker 1>would move on into the next round. Well, I got

<v Speaker 1>good news and I got bad news. What do you

<v Speaker 1>want for? I'll give you the good news first. The

<v Speaker 1>good news is we actually did have one SmackDown name

<v Speaker 1>move on to the semi finals, and that is in

<v Speaker 1>the Queen of the Ring and that is Charlotte Flair.

<v Speaker 1>She will be wrestling Live Morgan next week in the

<v Speaker 1>second round of the tournament. So at least they got

<v Speaker 1>one right. But then we had the King of the

<v Speaker 1>Ring in the main event tonight, the final four way

<v Speaker 1>on the men's side, and we had jay Usso we

<v Speaker 1>had La Night, We had Royce Keys, and we had

<v Speaker 1>Finn Balor or shall I say Pinbalor making his SmackDown

<v Speaker 1>day tonight on the show. This was kind of like

<v Speaker 1>his rebirth here on a new show, and there were

<v Speaker 1>two options here. You had Finn Balor, you had Royce Keys.

<v Speaker 1>You want to go with Royce Keys, I understand it.

<v Speaker 1>Royce Keys is the new guy on the block, and

<v Speaker 1>so you want to give him a little bit of

<v Speaker 1>a push. You maybe move him along here in the

<v Speaker 1>King of the Ring. Great. I got no problem with that.

<v Speaker 1>Finn Balor winning, I got no problem with it. He's

<v Speaker 1>not going to win the tournament, but you know what,

<v Speaker 1>it's his first night on smack Down. Is a full

<v Speaker 1>time SmackDown guy. At least send him into the next round, right,

<v Speaker 1>Finn Balor against Javon Evans, I could get behind that,

<v Speaker 1>Royce Keys against Javon Evans, I could get behind that.

<v Speaker 1>Wwe had one job tonight, one job. Their only job.

<v Speaker 1>Send one person, one person, one man from SmackDown into

<v Speaker 1>the next round so that SmackDown does not come away

<v Speaker 1>looking completely inept. They had one job. They failed. Not

<v Speaker 1>only is Royce Keys and Finn Baller not moving on

<v Speaker 1>to the next round of this tournament, but La Knight

<v Speaker 1>of course, ah ah, all of you thought La Knight

<v Speaker 1>was going to move on to the tournament. I don't

<v Speaker 1>know what you were thinking or what you were smoking

<v Speaker 1>moving on to this tournament. Into the next round is

<v Speaker 1>jay Usso. Everybody give me a ye yea four letters

<v Speaker 1>one word. Ahuh ye. He'll be yeating his way into

<v Speaker 1>the next round to wrestle Javon Evans and quite possibly

<v Speaker 1>maybe yeating his way into the finals. And then I

<v Speaker 1>guess the only question is do they actually do the

<v Speaker 1>unthinkable and have him yeat his way into a crown

<v Speaker 1>at the end of this tournament. I would sit here

<v Speaker 1>and tell you that that's not going to happen, but

<v Speaker 1>you know what, with this writing crew, anything's possible. They

<v Speaker 1>went with the least interesting option. They went with the

<v Speaker 1>least interesting winner in the main event tonight. I mean,

<v Speaker 1>I would expect nothing less out of these people, but

<v Speaker 1>that's what we were left with. At the end of

<v Speaker 1>SmackDown tonight. Jay Usso will wrestle Javon Evans. I don't

<v Speaker 1>know if that's going to happen this coming Monday on raw.

<v Speaker 1>I don't know if they mentioned that or not, but

<v Speaker 1>that will be taking place in the second round of

<v Speaker 1>this tournament. This is what the brat, not that it

<v Speaker 1>matters anymore, but this is what the bracket look like

<v Speaker 1>coming into the night, so you can kind of fit

<v Speaker 1>jay Usso's picture there. And this is what we're looking

<v Speaker 1>at here. We have Obafemi and Dominic Mysterio on the

<v Speaker 1>left side, and on the right side we have Evans

<v Speaker 1>and jay Usso. And I gotta tell you, the only

<v Speaker 1>combination of names here that even reasonably interests me would

<v Speaker 1>be an Oba Femi Javon Evans final because Oba Femi

<v Speaker 1>and Javon Evans actually had some kick ass matches together

<v Speaker 1>in NXT. I could get behind that match, even though

<v Speaker 1>the outcome is highly predictable. That's the only match I'm

<v Speaker 1>looking at here even potentially that interests me, and the

<v Speaker 1>chances of us getting that match are probably very very slim.

<v Speaker 1>I don't know where we went wrong here in this tournament.

<v Speaker 1>There was a lot of potential here in this King

<v Speaker 1>of the Ring tournament. I actually like the fact that

<v Speaker 1>Javon kind of got the unpredictable win on Monday night.

<v Speaker 1>I was not a fan of dom going on to

<v Speaker 1>the semi finals last week. Not a fan of that.

<v Speaker 1>But I look at some of the name and there's

<v Speaker 1>a lot of names that are missing from this tournament.

<v Speaker 1>But I look at what we have here and I'm like,

<v Speaker 1>there's just so much wasted potential to really put together

<v Speaker 1>some fun matches here in this tournament, and they just

<v Speaker 1>pissed it all away. Now, one thing that I made

<v Speaker 1>mention of the other night on TNT, and I think

<v Speaker 1>I mentioned this on the Young Crown Wrestling show as well,

<v Speaker 1>is that perhaps, and again I'm giving them a little

<v Speaker 1>too much credit here, but just bear with me, perhaps

<v Speaker 1>we could be looking at a situation where they want

<v Speaker 1>to make this thing really ultra and maybe the winner

<v Speaker 1>of the King of the Ring is somebody who we

<v Speaker 1>don't even see in that bracket. Maybe the winner of

<v Speaker 1>the King of the Ring is somebody like a drumacintyre

<v Speaker 1>or Randy Orton or a Cmpunk or somebody who's currently

<v Speaker 1>on the sidelines, likely on their way back soon, and

<v Speaker 1>maybe they shoot some sort of injury angle heading into

<v Speaker 1>the finals and then they slot that other person in there,

<v Speaker 1>and that person goes on to win the craze. Is

<v Speaker 1>it a cheap cop out way to kind of work

<v Speaker 1>somebody in there at the very end? Sure, but it

<v Speaker 1>was something that I floated, and honestly, looking at what

<v Speaker 1>we're left with here, I'm not against that idea at all,

<v Speaker 1>I would be okay with it. Depending on who the

<v Speaker 1>person is, I think I would be okay with that.

<v Speaker 1>I don't know what they're gonna do. I don't know

<v Speaker 1>what they're gonna do. And frankly, my interest level in

<v Speaker 1>this tournament has only gone down as the tournament has progressed. Normally,

<v Speaker 1>with these things, you wanted to go up, but in

<v Speaker 1>this case it seems to be regressing and going in

<v Speaker 1>the opposite direction. This is the Queen of the Ring bracket. Again.

<v Speaker 1>This is prior to the match we had tonight. What

<v Speaker 1>a match. I'm gonna talk about that here in a second.

<v Speaker 1>I was not a fan of that match. But this

<v Speaker 1>is what we have here. We have Live Morgan is

<v Speaker 1>gonna be wrestling Charlotte Flair SmackDown Got One that's gonna

<v Speaker 1>be taking place next Friday. On the other side of

<v Speaker 1>the bracket, we have EO Sky going one on one

<v Speaker 1>with Raquel Rodriguez, which, again, it could go either way.

<v Speaker 1>They could very well be leading us into an all

<v Speaker 1>Judgment Day final, which again I think would just be

<v Speaker 1>the least interesting path to take here in this tournament.

<v Speaker 1>That is not a match that you need. The King

<v Speaker 1>of the ring or Queen of the ring in this case.

<v Speaker 1>To get to you could do live in Raquel outside

<v Speaker 1>of the tournament. Hopefully EO will at least make it

<v Speaker 1>to the finals, if not win the entire thing. But again,

<v Speaker 1>my interest level in these tournaments has just plummeted to

<v Speaker 1>next to nothing. I just I can barely bring myself

<v Speaker 1>to care. I don't know why this is so hard,

<v Speaker 1>I really don't, But at least tonight we had the

<v Speaker 1>correct outcome when it comes to the Queen of the

<v Speaker 1>Ring stuff, although I don't know what the fuck happened

<v Speaker 1>in that match. Next week we're gonna be getting a

<v Speaker 1>WWE Championship match. I will not be here live for it.

<v Speaker 1>For those of you who will be tuning in live,

<v Speaker 1>we'll see Cody Roads defending his championship against Gunther. And tonight,

<v Speaker 1>Gunther was to choose the stipulation for that match. I

<v Speaker 1>guess because he got screwed in his last match they gave.

<v Speaker 1>They gave him the opportunity to pick the stip and

<v Speaker 1>so what he decided to do is pick a special

<v Speaker 1>guest referee, and the special guest referee for that match

<v Speaker 1>will be none other than the last good guy, Sammy's Ain,

<v Speaker 1>And I will say this, of everything that took place

<v Speaker 1>on this show tonight, and really what's been going on

<v Speaker 1>on SmackDown for several weeks now, the Sammy's Ain story,

<v Speaker 1>the Sammy's Ain character arc, has been the most interesting,

<v Speaker 1>most compelling part of SmackDown. If I had to pick

<v Speaker 1>one thing, tonight was no different. The best parts of

<v Speaker 1>the show really involved the Cody and Sammy's story. Gunther

<v Speaker 1>he never even came out in front of the live crowd.

<v Speaker 1>I'm not even sure if he was there. Maybe he

<v Speaker 1>wasn't even there live, I don't know, but him aside,

<v Speaker 1>and again you talk about somebody who's lost a lot

<v Speaker 1>of his aura recently, but Cody and Sammy and the

<v Speaker 1>story they've been telling with those two has really been

<v Speaker 1>carrying this show. For me. It's the single most interesting storyline,

<v Speaker 1>the single most interesting thing that is happening on these shows,

<v Speaker 1>which is quite the turnaround, because you know, as I

<v Speaker 1>was sitting here reviewing these SmackDown shows even just a

<v Speaker 1>few months ago, I was talking about Sammy's Ain and

<v Speaker 1>how he just was It's kind of like La Knight

<v Speaker 1>in that interview he did with Chris Van Vliet when

<v Speaker 1>he said that he felt like he was or is

<v Speaker 1>a man without a country, right, and he just didn't

<v Speaker 1>have anything to really sink his teeth. He had no story,

<v Speaker 1>he had no direction. That was Sammy's Ain a few

<v Speaker 1>months ago, and he just got very boring. All he

<v Speaker 1>was doing on TV was bitching and moaning about you know,

<v Speaker 1>how he knows he can do it. He could be

<v Speaker 1>the world champion and things are going his way, and

<v Speaker 1>I'm like, man, this guy, it's fucking depressing to watch

<v Speaker 1>him on the show. But then again, watching SmackDown itself

<v Speaker 1>is depressing. I mean, look at Johnny Gargano every week.

<v Speaker 1>He's depressed every week. But now, all of a sudden,

<v Speaker 1>just a few months later, and because the crowd started

<v Speaker 1>to react a little bit differently to him, and I

<v Speaker 1>think they just kind of ran with it. Sammy is

<v Speaker 1>more interesting now than he's been probably in over a year.

<v Speaker 1>So thankfully we at least have that to sort of

<v Speaker 1>hang on to right now. I am interested to see

<v Speaker 1>where that goes. The match next week with the two

<v Speaker 1>of them for the championship is going to be commercial free,

<v Speaker 1>just kind of nice. But outside of the Samy's Ain stuff,

<v Speaker 1>I'll say this, I thought the King of the Ring

<v Speaker 1>match in the main event tonight was it was good.

<v Speaker 1>They had a good match. The Ray Phoenix match tonight

<v Speaker 1>with Axiom was sad, which is not to say that

<v Speaker 1>there wasn't good stuff in the match. I thought when

<v Speaker 1>it was over they also had a good match. It

<v Speaker 1>was sad because I would say for a good ninety

<v Speaker 1>percent of that match tonight, nobody gave a shit. Ray

<v Speaker 1>Phoenix came out. He's got the Triple A Cruiserweight Championship

<v Speaker 1>that he just won from Laredo Kid right like a

<v Speaker 1>week ago, two weeks ago, and he was defending it

<v Speaker 1>toennight against Axiom. Nobody cared. He came out, Nobody cared.

<v Speaker 1>The bell rang, nobody cared. These guys are working, they're

<v Speaker 1>going back and forth. Nobody cared now, thankfully, as the

<v Speaker 1>match kind of built to the final, I don't know,

<v Speaker 1>ninety seconds or so, they did some big moves and

<v Speaker 1>the fans kind of got into a little bit. Phoenix

<v Speaker 1>picked up the win, and I'm just like, I'm looking

<v Speaker 1>at this and I'm going I can't even blame Ray fix.

<v Speaker 1>It's not Ray Phoenix's fault, and it's not Axiom's fault.

<v Speaker 1>These are two uber talented professional wrestlers, and they went

<v Speaker 1>out there and they had the best match that they

<v Speaker 1>could have given the limitations that they're under. Because, believe me,

<v Speaker 1>if Axiom and Ray Phoenix, if you gave those guys

<v Speaker 1>ten or twelve minutes to go out there and have

<v Speaker 1>the kind of match that they would like to have,

<v Speaker 1>it would look very different than the match we had tonight.

<v Speaker 1>By WWE standards, it was good. It was good, but

<v Speaker 1>we know these guys could do better. But I don't

<v Speaker 1>even blame them for that. This is the product of

<v Speaker 1>not putting these people in positions to succeed. I don't

<v Speaker 1>give a shit how many belts you put on Ray

<v Speaker 1>Phoenix from outside WWE when he's on SmackDown. None of

<v Speaker 1>that shit matters. Dominic Mysterio walks out every single week

<v Speaker 1>and he's got the Triple A Mega Championship around his waist.

<v Speaker 1>Who gives a fuck? Who gives a shit on Ron's SmackDown.

<v Speaker 1>It doesn't mean anything. And I say the same thing

<v Speaker 1>about some of these people when they pop up on

<v Speaker 1>you Dynamite or whatever. Would belts from this promotion and

<v Speaker 1>that promote unless it's like the IWGP belt or something.

<v Speaker 1>Who cares. Okay, we have enough championships as it is.

<v Speaker 1>Can we please focus on what we have right in

<v Speaker 1>front of us. What we have right in front of

<v Speaker 1>us is a very talented wrestler that WWE has basically

<v Speaker 1>kept impurgatory now for months. His brother is doing great.

<v Speaker 1>Penta is having a hell of a run for himself

<v Speaker 1>on Monday nights. Ray Phoenix has been left in the

<v Speaker 1>dust and look Penta. To me, Penta is more charismatic

<v Speaker 1>of the two. Anybody who's gonna get a bigger singles push,

<v Speaker 1>I'm not shocked at Penta is the one who is

<v Speaker 1>succeeding here. But how do you expect these people to

<v Speaker 1>get over and to get reactions from the crowd when

<v Speaker 1>you don't even take the time to work them into

<v Speaker 1>your shows? And I don't want to hear from anybody

<v Speaker 1>when SmackDown goes back to two hours in a few weeks,

<v Speaker 1>oh well, this is what you wanted. You wanted one

<v Speaker 1>less hour of SmackDown, and now people like Ray Phoenix

<v Speaker 1>are not gonna get TV time. And whenever somebody makes

<v Speaker 1>a mention of something like that, I'm going to go

<v Speaker 1>right back in their face and I'm going to say, oh,

<v Speaker 1>you mean, like all the times that Ray Phoenix was

<v Speaker 1>getting television time when the show was three hours. Really,

<v Speaker 1>this is what happens when when you don't take the

<v Speaker 1>time to actually feature these people on the television show.

<v Speaker 1>Nobody gives a fuck. Nobody cares. They could be out

<v Speaker 1>there doing all the flips and all the spectacular moves

<v Speaker 1>in the world, an avalanche this and that it doesn't matter.

<v Speaker 1>It doesn't matter. People are going to sit on their hands,

<v Speaker 1>are going to be looking at their watch, their phone,

<v Speaker 1>They're gonna be waiting for the real stars to come out.

<v Speaker 1>I was more sad watching that match than anything else. Now,

<v Speaker 1>maybe part of it was the fact that they were

<v Speaker 1>back in the States, so this was definitely not Europe.

<v Speaker 1>This was not France, this was not Spain, this was

<v Speaker 1>not Italy. In a different building, in a different country,

<v Speaker 1>in a different environment, like those rowdy crowds that we've

<v Speaker 1>seen over the last few weeks, it probably would have

<v Speaker 1>been a very different match. But it is what it is, right,

<v Speaker 1>it didn't help, but it goes beyond that. It goes

<v Speaker 1>beyond that. I would like to think that maybe this

<v Speaker 1>is the start of something where Phoenix is going to

<v Speaker 1>start to be featured on a regular basis on this show.

<v Speaker 1>But I know better, right, I have no faith in

<v Speaker 1>these people. I know that's not going to happen. He

<v Speaker 1>might be on the show next week, two three weeks

<v Speaker 1>from now, we're going to have him on the you know,

<v Speaker 1>be picking for our championship match next week? All this

<v Speaker 1>so well, I haven't heard from Gunther. And he said

<v Speaker 1>that his decision, though, would be rendered and we would

<v Speaker 1>all know before this night was over. So then Jimmy

<v Speaker 1>and Jay Uso were there. We know Jay Uso was

<v Speaker 1>going to be on the show because he was in

<v Speaker 1>the King of the Ring tonight where Jay goes, Jimmy goes,

<v Speaker 1>where Jimmy goes, Jay goes. It's almost like their cousin cousins.

<v Speaker 1>It's almost like their brothers. Maybe their cousins too. I

<v Speaker 1>don't know, that'd be kind of impressive. Actually, if they

<v Speaker 1>were brothers and cousins, what kind of fucked up family

<v Speaker 1>tree would that be? But the Usos were there confronted Cody,

<v Speaker 1>and Jay said that it's going to be Jay and

<v Speaker 1>Cody for the WWE Championship at Summer Slam, after Jay

<v Speaker 1>wins the King of the Ring. I don't even want

<v Speaker 1>to think about this. I really don't even want to

<v Speaker 1>think about it. Cody said he hoped Jay was right.

<v Speaker 1>He said, Jay deserves it, but he hopes it's Jay's

<v Speaker 1>decision and not Roman calling the shots. So they cut

<v Speaker 1>back to ringside. We had Joe Tess, we had Wade

<v Speaker 1>Barrett on commentary, and this was the first that I

<v Speaker 1>had heard about this. But they made mention to the

<v Speaker 1>fact that Rhea Ripley, who was not on the show,

<v Speaker 1>the WWE Women's Champion she suffered a knee injury on

<v Speaker 1>the European tour. She suffered a knee injury in Italy.

<v Speaker 1>I think he said clash in Italy, so it may

<v Speaker 1>have happened in her match with Jade on that show.

<v Speaker 1>But the other they had smacked down was in Italy

<v Speaker 1>last week, so maybe it happened there. But basically, from

<v Speaker 1>what they indicated here, she's rehabbing it there waiting to

<v Speaker 1>see if that's going to be enough or if the

<v Speaker 1>injury ends up being more serious and they have to

<v Speaker 1>take some sort of action. So basically, they didn't really

<v Speaker 1>have much of an update for us other than the

<v Speaker 1>fact that she is hurt and hopefully it ends up

<v Speaker 1>being nothing too serious. It sounds like she's probably not

<v Speaker 1>going to be wrestling for a little bit, so she

<v Speaker 1>may not be wrestling a Night of Champions. I think

<v Speaker 1>the hope at this point is that she'll be okay

<v Speaker 1>enough to keep her bell to not have to vacate

<v Speaker 1>it before we go to SummerSlam. But that's the update now.

<v Speaker 1>False Finish h Q shout out to them. They had

<v Speaker 1>a report about Jace Jane. Apparently her name has been

<v Speaker 1>pitched internally as a potential challenger for Rhea Ripley and

<v Speaker 1>the women's championship at SummerSlam. So I don't know if

<v Speaker 1>it's going to end up being Jac. We don't even

<v Speaker 1>know if Riea is going to be on the Summer

<v Speaker 1>Slam card. If this turns out to be a more

<v Speaker 1>serious injury, I could get behind that, though, you know,

<v Speaker 1>it's not that big Marquis SummerSlam match like ria An

<v Speaker 1>EO or Ria and Charlotte, but Jace. Again, I've come

<v Speaker 1>around on Jac over the last six months in a

<v Speaker 1>way that, like, I don't know, a year ago, year

<v Speaker 1>and a half ago, I would have said, of all

<v Speaker 1>the members of Fatal Influence, Fallen Henley is the one

<v Speaker 1>who I would have seen is maybe getting that big

<v Speaker 1>push first and being like a future world champion, And

<v Speaker 1>I still think she can be. But Jac's really come around.

<v Speaker 1>She's had a lot of success, and Fatal Influence hasn't

<v Speaker 1>been on the main roster for very long. But I

<v Speaker 1>like the idea of JC getting a shot. She's a

<v Speaker 1>new face, she's very good, and if that ends up

<v Speaker 1>being the match, then you know what, I'm okay with it.

<v Speaker 1>But from what I can gather from this report, it's

<v Speaker 1>not anything that's you know, etched in a stone tablet.

<v Speaker 1>It's just that her name has been pitched and she's

<v Speaker 1>at least possible for summer slim. Yes, that that j C. Jane,

<v Speaker 1>j C Janet God. I remember, man, we were doing uh,

<v Speaker 1>we were doing TNT that night that she beat Stephanie

<v Speaker 1>for the NXT Women's Championship, and I just remember my reaction,

<v Speaker 1>like j C. Jane, I was just so I was

<v Speaker 1>so caught off guard by that. It was like, of

<v Speaker 1>all the people that were gonna beat Stephanie to win

<v Speaker 1>that belt, she would have been at the bottom of

<v Speaker 1>the list of people I would have expected. Now, they

<v Speaker 1>opened with a first round four way in the Queen

<v Speaker 1>of the Ring Tournament, Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, soul Arruca

<v Speaker 1>and Lyra Valkyria. There have been matches that Jade Cargill

<v Speaker 1>has had recently that I've praised, maybe even more so

<v Speaker 1>than other people. They thought maybe I over praised it.

<v Speaker 1>But I thought her match with Rhea, and I think

<v Speaker 1>me on that, and that's fine, but two good matches,

<v Speaker 1>and I said, a lot of that probably has to

<v Speaker 1>do it Rhea, But again it takes two to tango,

<v Speaker 1>and so credit to Jaye. They went out there, they

<v Speaker 1>had good matches. I don't know what the hell happened

<v Speaker 1>in this match. This was about as bad as Jade

<v Speaker 1>Cargill has and I don't mean as bad as she's looked.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, she looks unbelievable when she walks out to

<v Speaker 1>the ring, but then the and so in terms of

<v Speaker 1>the match itself, this is as bad of a Jade

<v Speaker 1>Cargill match as I've seen in a very long time.

<v Speaker 1>I don't know what happened here, but this was just

<v Speaker 1>a fucking disaster for her and this match on this night,

<v Speaker 1>it was a disaster. Now. She had a fallaway slam

<v Speaker 1>early on in the match to Lyra and she sent

<v Speaker 1>her backwards into Solaruka. That was honestly one of the

<v Speaker 1>few clean moments of the entire That might have been

<v Speaker 1>the peak, that might have been the highlight of the

<v Speaker 1>match for her, was that early Fallaway Slam, So after this,

<v Speaker 1>it was basically a dumpster fire for her. We got

<v Speaker 1>our first exchange with Charlotte and Jade because they've really

<v Speaker 1>kept them apart now for a while, and obviously we're

<v Speaker 1>going to get the big singles match between them. So

<v Speaker 1>maybe at SummerSlam we're gonna get the big singles match

<v Speaker 1>finally between these two. So they started engaging right and

<v Speaker 1>there were chops and they were doing spots and I'm

<v Speaker 1>watching this and not only did it just not look

<v Speaker 1>good good, they were so tentative or deliberate and slow

<v Speaker 1>in everything that they were doing here. It's like Charlotte

<v Speaker 1>was trying to guide her through and I'm watching It's

<v Speaker 1>almost like they're doing drills in the ring like it's

<v Speaker 1>their first week in school. For some I'm like, what

<v Speaker 1>do we do? What's going on here? So it didn't

<v Speaker 1>look good, you know what was going on here between

<v Speaker 1>these two Meechin and Beefab. They pulled Charlotte out of

<v Speaker 1>the ring. That brought out Alexa Bliss. She came out

<v Speaker 1>to her music to a big reaction and she ran

<v Speaker 1>down to the ring to fight them off. She was

<v Speaker 1>followed by Tiffany Stratton, who fought Mitchen off into the crowd.

<v Speaker 1>Bliss went off with b fab. Jade was supposed to

<v Speaker 1>catch Soul on a springboard crossbody. She fell back. She

<v Speaker 1>was clearly she did not want to fall down, but

<v Speaker 1>she fell backwards. She did roll through, She made it

<v Speaker 1>back to her feet until Lyra hit a dropkick and

<v Speaker 1>sent Soul down on top of Jade. Now she's pinning her.

<v Speaker 1>So Lyra quickly, you know, went over to break that up.

<v Speaker 1>A little later on, there was a tower of doom

<v Speaker 1>spot in the corner. All of the women except Jade

<v Speaker 1>are on the ropes and they're jockeying for a position,

<v Speaker 1>and so Jade was to get underneath them to set

<v Speaker 1>up for the spot. And I can't even put all

<v Speaker 1>the blame on Jade here, but she gets underneath and

<v Speaker 1>obviously the other women are not set. They're not ready yet.

<v Speaker 1>Jade maybe she was too early. So Jade's underneath them,

<v Speaker 1>they're not ready, So she just has to stand there

<v Speaker 1>and you can see her like they're all talking and

<v Speaker 1>conversing trying to figure out like are we ready here?

<v Speaker 1>And so Jade is underneath them, just standing there. For

<v Speaker 1>it probably wasn't more than I don't know ten seconds,

<v Speaker 1>but that's a long time. And then finally she brings

<v Speaker 1>all of them down with kind of sort of a

<v Speaker 1>power bomb. Then there was a double superplex spot later

<v Speaker 1>on where Charlotte and Soul gave Jade a superplexed. They

<v Speaker 1>take her all the way down to the mat, and

<v Speaker 1>as soon as Jade hits the mat, she lost her wig.

<v Speaker 1>Her wig came off briefly. She was able to grab

<v Speaker 1>it so it didn't fully go like flying off her

<v Speaker 1>head into the fucking fifth row, which would have been hilarious.

<v Speaker 1>But her wig came off or it came loose, and

<v Speaker 1>so you could kind of see underneath and everything and whatever.

<v Speaker 1>So now she has she's struggling that to keep it

<v Speaker 1>on her head. She's got her hands on her head,

<v Speaker 1>and you know, she's laying there. She's holding onto this

<v Speaker 1>thing for dear life, because she's got that long like

<v Speaker 1>the silver hair, right, it's all. It's all a wig

<v Speaker 1>that she wears. So she's trying to hold it on

<v Speaker 1>as best she can. And for the remainder of the match,

<v Speaker 1>she never let go of the wig. She had her

<v Speaker 1>hands on her head. It was as if she had

<v Speaker 1>hurt her head on the landing or she was kincussed,

<v Speaker 1>Only she wasn't kinkush. She was just trying to keep

<v Speaker 1>the hair on top of her head. So that didn't help.

<v Speaker 1>Then when Jade went to go give Charlotte the jaded,

<v Speaker 1>because the dude the jaded, You've got to use both

<v Speaker 1>of your arms, right, like the chicken with a double

<v Speaker 1>chicken wing. You hat to get your opponent up and

<v Speaker 1>then slam them down. But at the same time, she's

<v Speaker 1>trying to keep her hair in her head. So she

<v Speaker 1>goes and like I think Charlotte maybe went to jump

<v Speaker 1>too soon. They miss timed it and she got her

<v Speaker 1>up for it and draw it looked like shit, but

<v Speaker 1>whatever she hits jaded and the pin got broken up.

<v Speaker 1>In the midst of all of this, Lyra and Soul

<v Speaker 1>and Charlotte put together what I would say was a

<v Speaker 1>pretty exciting final ninety seconds or so. Uh, this was

<v Speaker 1>the best part of the match. They actually like the

<v Speaker 1>speed picked up where they weren't working in slow motion,

<v Speaker 1>and we got some exciting stuff here in the closing

<v Speaker 1>moments of this match. They picked up the pace. There

<v Speaker 1>were a couple of good near falls. Soul caught Jade

<v Speaker 1>with a soul snatcher. I mean she almost snatched the

<v Speaker 1>wig right off her head, but she hit the soul

<v Speaker 1>snatcher in the corner. She had her beat. Lyra, though,

<v Speaker 1>reaches in at the last second. She pulls Soul out

<v Speaker 1>of the ring, then quickly scales up to the top rope.

<v Speaker 1>She hits Jade with a top rope leg drop to

<v Speaker 1>the back of the head. But as Lyra gets up,

<v Speaker 1>Charlotte sneaks up behind her and hits natural selection, except

<v Speaker 1>she didn't. I think Lyra just basically put her hand

<v Speaker 1>down to prevent it, and then she crucifixed Charlotte over

<v Speaker 1>into a close near fall. In the end, though Charlotte

<v Speaker 1>got the figure eight applied. Except now, look, if I'm

<v Speaker 1>gonna call Jade out for a lot of wonky shit

<v Speaker 1>here in this match, Charlotte doesn't get She doesn't escape

<v Speaker 1>any criticism here. She went to go put the figure

<v Speaker 1>eight on. As she's bridging up into the figure eight,

<v Speaker 1>she lost it. So you know how a figure four

<v Speaker 1>leglock is applied? Were the real pain, Like I've had

<v Speaker 1>that move put on me before. It fucking hurts, and

<v Speaker 1>it hurts because it's like bone on bone, right, But

<v Speaker 1>as she's bridging up here into this hold. Her legs

<v Speaker 1>slipped out, so there was no real pressure being applied

<v Speaker 1>in the hold. But this is the finish, and so

<v Speaker 1>what's Lyra gonna do? So she's screaming in pain, and

<v Speaker 1>then finally Lyra begins tapping out and Charlotte wins the match,

<v Speaker 1>and just man, what a mess this was in some

<v Speaker 1>places in some place. And I'm not saying the whole

<v Speaker 1>match was a mess, but the messy parts were really messy.

<v Speaker 1>But it got better there at the end. I will

<v Speaker 1>say Soul and Lyra in particular, they were the superstars

<v Speaker 1>of this match. I don't have a bad thing to

<v Speaker 1>say about either one of those women in this match.

<v Speaker 1>I thought they did their part, They did the best

<v Speaker 1>they could, and they had some good stuff. I mean,

<v Speaker 1>they just wrestled on television this week. They had an

<v Speaker 1>Intercontinental title match that I thought was solid. But when

<v Speaker 1>Jade was in there, especially the stuff with Jade and Charlotte,

<v Speaker 1>I mean again, they were just they were moving so slow.

<v Speaker 1>I could have sworn I saw a fucking glacier pass

<v Speaker 1>by behind them in the background. And if this is

<v Speaker 1>like an indication of what a Charlotte and Jade singles

<v Speaker 1>match is going to look like at SummerSlam. I'm not optimistic.

<v Speaker 1>I still feel like it's a big match that they

<v Speaker 1>could do on that show, but I'm not optimistic about it. Again,

<v Speaker 1>like it looked like she was going through drills and

<v Speaker 1>like wrestling school, and it's not like Jade looks like

<v Speaker 1>that in every single match. I mean, there are matches

<v Speaker 1>where she does look like that, and it's almost like

<v Speaker 1>her opponent is trying to help guide her along, which

<v Speaker 1>and again it's very weird to me because she's been

<v Speaker 1>doing this now for many years. It's not like she's

<v Speaker 1>a rookie at this. But for whatever reason, here in

<v Speaker 1>this match, and maybe it's a multi person match type

<v Speaker 1>situation with her where she's better if it's just focused

<v Speaker 1>one on one, or if she has a certain chemistry

<v Speaker 1>with the person that she's in the ring with, like

<v Speaker 1>she seemed to with Rhea, Like the two of them

<v Speaker 1>work really well together, and then you put her in

<v Speaker 1>the ring and there's fucking three or four other people

<v Speaker 1>in there and the whole thing falls apart. I don't know,

<v Speaker 1>maybe that's part of it, or she just doesn't have

<v Speaker 1>the ability to sync up well with them, but Charlotte

<v Speaker 1>winning was the right outca at the end of the day,

<v Speaker 1>a SmackDown person had to go over here, and given

<v Speaker 1>the match that she had today, if it would have

<v Speaker 1>been Jade, that would have been a disgrace. So the

<v Speaker 1>only right outcome here was Charlotte Flair winning and moving

<v Speaker 1>on into the next round. Again. She's gonna be wrestling

<v Speaker 1>Alexa Bliss. That'll be in the semi finals on the

<v Speaker 1>show next week. I don't see any reason. I don't

<v Speaker 1>see any purpose for Live Morgan to be going to

<v Speaker 1>the finals of this start. She shouldn't even be in

<v Speaker 1>this tournament to begin with, all right, let's just be honest.

<v Speaker 1>or more booze from the crowd, and he was getting

<v Speaker 1>a very tepid, very sort of lukewarm reaction. I don't

<v Speaker 1>think it was quite the reaction that he was anticipating.

<v Speaker 1>He said they didn't want to compare the European crowds

<v Speaker 1>to the American crowds, but his rider die Fan showed

<v Speaker 1>up for him in Europe. He said that the crowd

<v Speaker 1>could either sit and be so or they could be

<v Speaker 1>ride or Die with the last real good guy Solo

<v Speaker 1>is one of Sammy's ride or Die for Hey, I'm

<v Speaker 1>a rider dies Sammy's ain fan. I mean I did

<v Speaker 1>sour on him a few months ago, like when he

<v Speaker 1>was wrestling Drew for the Championship of the Royal Rumble.

<v Speaker 1>Like during that period, like I I couldn't bring myself

<v Speaker 1>to give two shits about what Sammy's ain was doing.

<v Speaker 1>But I'm back on the train now. I'm a rider die.

<v Speaker 1>So he wanted to clear the air with Cody Rhodes.

<v Speaker 1>Cody made his way out to the ring and he

<v Speaker 1>asked Sammy what do you want to talk about? And

<v Speaker 1>Sammy asked, Cody, please don't be this character, this facade,

<v Speaker 1>like just for a second, I want you to be

<v Speaker 1>a real person. I want you to be the real Cody. Okay,

<v Speaker 1>my friend, not this whatever this thing is that you

<v Speaker 1>pretend to be when you come out to the ring.

<v Speaker 1>So we can have an honest conversation. Sammy brings up

<v Speaker 1>getting hurt helping Cody over the last few months, and

<v Speaker 1>Cody made Sammy feel like the worst person in the

<v Speaker 1>world when Sammy didn't save Cody. Remember all those weeks

<v Speaker 1>ago when Gunther this before clash in Italy, when Gunther

<v Speaker 1>had snuck up behind Cody and put him in the

<v Speaker 1>sleeper and Sammy just stood there and he just watched

<v Speaker 1>it right and he left. So he says Cody made

<v Speaker 1>him feel like a terrible person and a terrible friend.

<v Speaker 1>Last week though, Sammy helped Cody and then Cody hit

<v Speaker 1>him with a suicide dive, and at this point he

<v Speaker 1>just has to ask if all of this is really

<v Speaker 1>just an accident, so he wants the truth from Cody.

<v Speaker 1>So Cody asked, if Sammy is really are you really

<v Speaker 1>asking me to explain pro wrestling to you. Cody brings

<v Speaker 1>up their history going all the way back to WrestleMania

<v Speaker 1>of forty when Cody finished the story and he beat

<v Speaker 1>Roman Reigns and he won the WWE championship. And Sammy said,

<v Speaker 1>you know, he wasn't just a guy in the ring

<v Speaker 1>with Cody night. He was the first person in the

<v Speaker 1>ring with Cody to greet Cody and celebrate with Cody

<v Speaker 1>after he won the title. He says, before anybody, he

<v Speaker 1>was out there, and if anybody deserved to have sour

<v Speaker 1>grapes about that, it was him. But he was happy

<v Speaker 1>for Cody, and he still is because he's a good guy.

<v Speaker 1>But everybody else in the ring that night, none of

<v Speaker 1>them are still Cody's friends anymore, right, John Cena, Randy Orton,

<v Speaker 1>Kevin Owens, all those guys, they can't be the problem.

<v Speaker 1>All of them can't be the problem. So the problem

<v Speaker 1>must be Cody. So Cody said he wasn't able to

<v Speaker 1>be honest with those men, but he was going to

<v Speaker 1>be honest with Sammy. The truth is that these fans

<v Speaker 1>are booing you because you suck. You've become whiny and desperate.

<v Speaker 1>And Cody said he was sorry he's sorry that he

<v Speaker 1>has the WWE championship and that Sammy never will and

<v Speaker 1>that hurts Sammy to his core because Sammy turned around

<v Speaker 1>and he slapped him right across the face. And immediately

<v Speaker 1>after he slaps Cody, he starts to apologize. He gets

<v Speaker 1>right up in front of Cody's face. He's grabbing his arm.

<v Speaker 1>I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it that. Please forgive

<v Speaker 1>me for I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. And as

<v Speaker 1>he's apologizing this entire time, Cody is just he's fuming, right,

<v Speaker 1>He's just fuming. He's just it looks like he's about

<v Speaker 1>to explode. And so Cody eventually slaps him back even harder.

<v Speaker 1>So Cody asks him, are we good? Are we good? Now?

<v Speaker 1>Apparently not, because Sammy left the ring. He was pacing

<v Speaker 1>back and forth, and he walks over and he grabs

<v Speaker 1>a steel chair and he gets up on the apron.

<v Speaker 1>He makes like he's gonna come back in the ring

<v Speaker 1>and he's gonna beat the hell out of him with

<v Speaker 1>the chair. He thinks it over and then finally he

<v Speaker 1>drops the chair. He drops down off the apron, and

<v Speaker 1>at that point, Sammy walks off again. I have really

<v Speaker 1>been enjoying the I guess you could say evolution of

<v Speaker 1>this Sammy's Zin character. It's taken a few weird turns

<v Speaker 1>over the last few months, but I think he's in

<v Speaker 1>a really good spot right now where he's got something interesting.

<v Speaker 1>And not only does he have something interesting, but he's

<v Speaker 1>right in the middle of this World Championship program. Here

<v Speaker 1>on this show, it's not just Cody and Gunther, it's Cody,

<v Speaker 1>Gunther and Sammy. Right. He's in a good spot right now.

<v Speaker 1>It's a hell of a lot more interesting than just

<v Speaker 1>him being all playing Jane Vanilla, you know, the good

<v Speaker 1>guy and all right whatever you know, or or even worse,

<v Speaker 1>the good guy who comes out and just whins and

<v Speaker 1>cries about how he's been screwed and where he's not

<v Speaker 1>getting opportunities where he tries to be good and people

<v Speaker 1>keep you know, wronging him like woo, keep crying about it,

<v Speaker 1>like there's nothing interesting about that, right, So what they've

<v Speaker 1>been doing with him lately is resonating more. It's the

<v Speaker 1>most interesting thing they're doing on SmackDown. And maybe you

<v Speaker 1>look at that and say, well, that doesn't speak very

<v Speaker 1>well to how interesting SmackDown is. I don't disagree with you.

<v Speaker 1>I'm just telling you it is the most interesting compelling

<v Speaker 1>thing on this show week to week is the stuff

<v Speaker 1>with Cody and sam And here we are. Now we're

<v Speaker 1>heading into a rematch, right with Cody and Gunther. I'm

<v Speaker 1>more interested in seeing Cody against Sammy than I am

<v Speaker 1>Cody against Gunther. The way they did that match of

<v Speaker 1>clash in Italy did not make me more interested in

<v Speaker 1>seeing Cody and Gunther. I'm sure they're gonna have a

<v Speaker 1>really good match next week. I am more interested, though,

<v Speaker 1>in Cody and Sammy. And as far as this segment here,

<v Speaker 1>when this was over, it was pretty clear who the

<v Speaker 1>referee was going to be for this championship match next week.

<v Speaker 1>And later in the show we found out because backstage,

<v Speaker 1>Gunther finds a nick all this and he says, I've

<v Speaker 1>made my decision. I've decided that you know what I want.

<v Speaker 1>I want this referee to be a good guy, maybe

<v Speaker 1>even the last real good guy. And so I'm gonna

<v Speaker 1>need you to make Sammy Zain the special guest referee

<v Speaker 1>for this championship match next week. And as far and yeah,

<v Speaker 1>it's actually a good comparison. I just people in the

<v Speaker 1>chat bringing up y seven Brett Heart. It's not exactly

<v Speaker 1>the same thing. There are similarities, though. There are similarities

<v Speaker 1>between the two characters, and the ninety seven Brett Hart

<v Speaker 1>thing was just that was a fantastic character shift for him,

<v Speaker 1>where I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't change on

<v Speaker 1>you people. You people changed on me. Right. Look at

<v Speaker 1>would go to Europe, he would go to all these plays,

<v Speaker 1>he would go to the Middle East. He was in Kuwait,

<v Speaker 1>for him, even when he was supposed to be a

<v Speaker 1>heal didn't matter. So there are similarities. There probably has

<v Speaker 1>some to do with why I've been enjoying the character

<v Speaker 1>so much, but it's not quite exactly the same thing.

<v Speaker 1>But as far as this match next week Cody and

<v Speaker 1>Gun there, it just does not feel to me like

<v Speaker 1>we are getting a WWE title change next week, and frankly,

<v Speaker 1>I don't know why we would. I mean, look, you've

<v Speaker 1>got a ple coming up in a few weeks, literally

<v Speaker 1>the week after SmackDown next week, I think like eight

<v Speaker 1>days later you have a ple called Night of Champions.

<v Speaker 1>We're gonna have a bunch of championship matches on there,

<v Speaker 1>and you know the WWE title is going to be

<v Speaker 1>defended because Roman Reigns isn't even working the show. And

<v Speaker 1>then in less than two months we have SummerSlam. So

<v Speaker 1>now like you could have done something at Clash in Italy,

<v Speaker 1>but now a few weeks later, it's like that moment

<v Speaker 1>has passed. I don't get the sense we're getting a

<v Speaker 1>title change on this show, or maybe not even a

<v Speaker 1>Night of Champions quite frankly, but certainly not on SmackDown

<v Speaker 1>next week. And now that Sammy is the referee, I

<v Speaker 1>think they really want to think after the events of tonight,

<v Speaker 1>like Cody is fucked, he screwed, right, It's almost a

<v Speaker 1>little too obvious. If there was to be a title change,

<v Speaker 1>it all just feels to me like we're heading for

<v Speaker 1>a triple threat. I don't think that they are going

<v Speaker 1>to want to beat Gunther straight up next week. Having

<v Speaker 1>Sammy as the referee gives them an out. They could

<v Speaker 1>do a finish in such a way that we still

<v Speaker 1>have no clear cut winner, and coming out of it

<v Speaker 1>somehow we end up with a triple threat made right,

<v Speaker 1>because to me, that's a good main event for that

<v Speaker 1>Night of Champions show. Cody, Gunther, Sammy, and you know,

<v Speaker 1>I take it back about Night of Champions. You could

<v Speaker 1>do a title change there if that's the case without

<v Speaker 1>beating Cody. You could actually change the championship if you

<v Speaker 1>want to gun Through to win the belt there but

<v Speaker 1>not beat Cody, or if you wanted Sammy to win

<v Speaker 1>the championship there but not beat Cody. Right, although having

<v Speaker 1>Sammy pin Gunther, I wouldn't do that, but there's at

<v Speaker 1>least options for like how you can go with it.

<v Speaker 1>I'm not at all opposed to a Sammy's Ain title

<v Speaker 1>win at Night of Champions. I'm not opposed to a

<v Speaker 1>Sammy's Ain title win at Summer Slim if he was

<v Speaker 1>to be the one that ends up challenging Cody for

<v Speaker 1>the belt. I'm not against it. I think you could

<v Speaker 1>absolutely do. I'm not saying they will, but I'm not

<v Speaker 1>at all opposed to it because I find Sammy to

<v Speaker 1>be more interesting than Cody. I know a lot of

<v Speaker 1>people like to just like shit on Cody. He sucks,

<v Speaker 1>he's this and that. No, he's in the position he's

<v Speaker 1>in for a reason, and you can't say that he's

<v Speaker 1>not over anymore or he's ruining the show and the

<v Speaker 1>numbers are down because of like he's he calls himself

<v Speaker 1>QB one, But you know what, that's that's what he is, right,

<v Speaker 1>That's what he is. And he still goes out there

<v Speaker 1>and he gets these great reactions, and he still goes

<v Speaker 1>out there and has really good matches most of the

<v Speaker 1>time with the people that he works with. But at

<v Speaker 1>the same time, his character, there's nothing interesting about his

<v Speaker 1>character right now, so he is he has gotten very

<v Speaker 1>stale and very boring. Sammy's ain to me is a

<v Speaker 1>more interesting option, and I'll say even more than Gunther.

<v Speaker 1>It really is. It's sad like we talk about the

<v Speaker 1>aura of Gunther right and all the big wins that

<v Speaker 1>he got last year at the beginning of this year

<v Speaker 1>over aj styles. He's the career killer, right, He's unbeatable.

<v Speaker 1>All this stuff and not having any real direction for

<v Speaker 1>him going into WrestleMania hurt. And I think doing the

<v Speaker 1>finish the way they did it clashing Italy hurt a

<v Speaker 1>little bit. He doesn't feel like that same guy anymore.

<v Speaker 1>They've taken some of the shine away from him, and

<v Speaker 1>so Sammy to me, Sammy would be a fine option.

<v Speaker 1>I'd be okay with that, right, the last real good

<v Speaker 1>guy finally won the Big One, and Cody back in

<v Speaker 1>chase mode as opposed to just Cody coming out every

<v Speaker 1>week with a big cheesy smile on his face, going,

<v Speaker 1>what do you want to talk about? Gee? I don't know,

<v Speaker 1>why don't we talk about the same shit we talk

<v Speaker 1>about every week? Because it just feels like nothing ever

<v Speaker 1>really changes on these shows. But I'm not expecting a

<v Speaker 1>title change next week. I'd be I wouldn't be shocked,

<v Speaker 1>but I would be very surprised if they do put

<v Speaker 1>the belt on gun through next week. I just I

<v Speaker 1>don't see that happening. Now we go backstage, Jacob Fatu

<v Speaker 1>confronts Solo Socoa in his short sleeve turtleneck. He's got

<v Speaker 1>a message from the OTC. He needs Solo to come home.

<v Speaker 1>the dialogue, and just in terms of how Solo came

<v Speaker 1>off here. This was not Solo in the MFTs. This

<v Speaker 1>was just Solo and Jacob and Solo standing up for

<v Speaker 1>himself and frankly making some very valid points about Roman Reigns,

<v Speaker 1>who's a complete dick. He's not wrong, you know, and

<v Speaker 1>what he's saying. I just don't have it in me

<v Speaker 1>to get excited though, for Roman Reigns and Solo so

<v Speaker 1>CoA again, which is what they were heavily teasing here.

<v Speaker 1>I mean they've been outright teasing Bloodline MFTs. Maybe in

<v Speaker 1>War Games in a few months now war games as

<v Speaker 1>many months away, but some sort of bloodline civil war,

<v Speaker 1>you know, revisited between the two side. I just I

<v Speaker 1>don't I don't care. I don't care. Been there, done that,

<v Speaker 1>don't care. But this was a good segment for Solo Soco.

<v Speaker 1>Now Ray Phoenix. He was out to the ring next

<v Speaker 1>the brand new Triple A Cruiserweight Champion. He was out

<v Speaker 1>to the ring to absolutely no reaction whatsoever, and he

<v Speaker 1>was defending his championship against Axiom. I said this at

<v Speaker 1>the beginning of the review, This was the saddest match

<v Speaker 1>of the night for me, because we had two very

<v Speaker 1>talented guys out there, and these people in Providence didn't

<v Speaker 1>give a shit for a good ninety percent of this match.

<v Speaker 1>Crickets Crickets. This match was brought to you by Cricket

<v Speaker 1>Wireless Absolute Crickets. For the majority of this match, I'm

<v Speaker 1>pretty sure I heard the guy's ring tone who was

<v Speaker 1>up in the upper last row of the upper deck.

<v Speaker 1>I think he had the the tony soprano ring tone.

<v Speaker 1>I could hear it from all the way up there.

<v Speaker 1>I'll give you an example during one of the commercial breaks,

<v Speaker 1>because I did watch with my VPN tonight during one

<v Speaker 1>of the commercial breaks, Ray Phoenix did this thing and

<v Speaker 1>a lot of wrestlers will do this when they're trying

<v Speaker 1>to rally the crowd behind them and kind of get

<v Speaker 1>the crowd really loud and into the match. They'll like

<v Speaker 1>bang on the mat right trying to rally the crowd.

<v Speaker 1>This is one of the few times I've seen a

<v Speaker 1>wrestler do that and the crowd doesn't rally. The crowd

<v Speaker 1>is just they're still silent. He's banging on the mat.

<v Speaker 1>Maybe he was banging on the mat out of frustration,

<v Speaker 1>I don't know, but he's banging on the mat and

<v Speaker 1>just nobody cares. Nobody cares. They did finally react though,

<v Speaker 1>when he did an Avalanche Spanish fly That came later though,

<v Speaker 1>so Phoenix avoided a golden ratio. He landed a brainbuster

<v Speaker 1>for an ear fall. They did the avalanche Spanish Fly

<v Speaker 1>spot where Axiom took him all the way down to

<v Speaker 1>the mat. That got a rise out of the crowd

<v Speaker 1>on the near fall. Phoenix ended up winning with the

<v Speaker 1>Mexican Musclebuster to retain the title, and so when it

<v Speaker 1>was over, we ended up getting some good Luca action

<v Speaker 1>here in this match. A small taste of what these

<v Speaker 1>men can do in the ring together. They just never

<v Speaker 1>get the chance to show it, you know, in the

<v Speaker 1>case of Phoenix, mainly because Phoenix is the one. It's

<v Speaker 1>really like Axiom and Nathan Fraser, they're a tag team

<v Speaker 1>in the tag team division right now is just in

<v Speaker 1>total shambles. So I'm not surprised we don't see a

<v Speaker 1>lot of Axiom on these shows. Axium, they threw him

<v Speaker 1>a bone a few weeks ago. They were in his

<v Speaker 1>home country. He had a really good match in Spain.

<v Speaker 1>It's like I said at the time, I said, it's

<v Speaker 1>like the old toy that they take off the shelf

<v Speaker 1>and they kind of, you know, they blow the dust

<v Speaker 1>off fucking toy. Story five is coming out next week.

<v Speaker 1>It's like opening the toy chest. Though, Okay, who do

<v Speaker 1>we got in here? We have Axiom in here. We

<v Speaker 1>haven't used Axiom in a while. I forgot I even

<v Speaker 1>had him in there. And you pull him out of

<v Speaker 1>the toy chest and he's kind of dented and he's

<v Speaker 1>all fucked up and stuff. But like you play with

<v Speaker 1>him for a little bit and then you throw him

<v Speaker 1>back in there. You close the lid and you don't

<v Speaker 1>think of him again for another nine months. That's Axiom.

<v Speaker 1>There's so many people that you can use that analogy

<v Speaker 1>for on this show. But that's the case with Axiom,

<v Speaker 1>and that's the case of Ray Phoenix. Ray Phoenix went

<v Speaker 1>to Triple A. He won the Triple A Cruiserweight Championship

<v Speaker 1>a few weeks ago from Laredo Kid. They gave them

<v Speaker 1>eleven minutes on that show. Even that match, I felt

<v Speaker 1>like should have been better than it was because they

<v Speaker 1>just didn't get a lot of time. But he won

<v Speaker 1>the Cruiserweight title, and it's like, Okay, good, good for him.

<v Speaker 1>It's like the war Raiders. They sent the war Raiders

<v Speaker 1>to Triple A. Now they're the Triple A Tag Team champions.

<v Speaker 1>They showed up on SmackDown a week or two ago

<v Speaker 1>in a backstage segment. Nobody like. It was almost I

<v Speaker 1>wasn't even sure they were showing it on the tron

<v Speaker 1>in the arena because there was no reaction. Nobody cared.

<v Speaker 1>Why should they care. You cannot keep people off television

<v Speaker 1>for an extended period of time unless they're already a

<v Speaker 1>major star and expect that when you just threw roll

<v Speaker 1>them out there unceremoniously like that that people are just

<v Speaker 1>suddenly going to give a shit. You can't put a

<v Speaker 1>belt on somebody from some other promotion. Oh well they

<v Speaker 1>have a belt, and let's send them out there. And

<v Speaker 1>then wonder, as I'm sure some people maybe were wondering,

<v Speaker 1>how come the people aren't reacting to Ray Phoenix g

<v Speaker 1>course people love Raymisterio. Dragon Lee. Dragon Lee's been getting

<v Speaker 1>a fair amount of television time, so at least he

<v Speaker 1>gets some reactions when he's out there, and then I see,

<v Speaker 1>like Ray Phoenix, I'm like this poor bastard, Like what

<v Speaker 1>must be going through his head when he's seeing all

<v Speaker 1>of these other people. And the best that they could

<v Speaker 1>do for him is, well, we'll just send him to

<v Speaker 1>the Undertaker and Triple A. We'll put a belt on

<v Speaker 1>him there, and then we'll bring him back to SmackDown

<v Speaker 1>to have a few matches. Okay, so he beat Axio

<v Speaker 1>him tonight, and maybe next week he'll wrestle Nathan Freyer.

<v Speaker 1>In two weeks he'll wrestle Nathan Fraser and they'll have

<v Speaker 1>a banger of a match, and then what after that?

<v Speaker 1>Then what? Then he disappears again, He disappears back into

<v Speaker 1>the void, Like it's as predictable as fuck. We all

<v Speaker 1>know how this is gonna go. And then eventually he'll

<v Speaker 1>end up on some list and we won't see him anymore.

<v Speaker 1>people whatsoever. So this is not going to change. I

<v Speaker 1>don't care how many belts from other places that you

<v Speaker 1>put on him. It will not make a difference. We

<v Speaker 1>had the United States champion Trick Williams out to the

<v Speaker 1>ring next with Lil YACHTI in tow. There was a

<v Speaker 1>little kid in the crowd as s Trick was coming out

<v Speaker 1>and he was smacking hands with fans in the aisle.

<v Speaker 1>There was a little kid I couldn't have been more

<v Speaker 1>than six or seven and maybe if that. And he

<v Speaker 1>was wearing the same white fur coat that Trick wears

<v Speaker 1>when he comes out. He looked like a little pimp

<v Speaker 1>in the crowd. That's a good thing or a bad thing.

<v Speaker 1>But Trick spotted him and went right over to him.

<v Speaker 1>So that was kind of a nice moment there. So

<v Speaker 1>Yadi started doing his intro for Trick, and Trick cut

<v Speaker 1>him off and said, look, I lost last week in

<v Speaker 1>the King of the Ring tournament and I didn't like it,

<v Speaker 1>but it woke something up inside me. It lit a

<v Speaker 1>fire in me that I haven't felt in a very

<v Speaker 1>long time. It made me want to level up and

<v Speaker 1>bring SmackDown to New heights. He said that he was

<v Speaker 1>the leader of the New School and the fact that

<v Speaker 1>he lost last week really pissed him off. So Ricky

<v Speaker 1>Saints music interrupted. He started to make his way out

<v Speaker 1>to the ring, but then Carmelo Hayes's music hit. He

<v Speaker 1>walked out, He blew right past Ricky, upstaged him and

<v Speaker 1>went to the ring. Now all three of them ended

<v Speaker 1>up in the ring together and basically they were bickering

<v Speaker 1>Hayes and Saints and talking about you know, it's time

<v Speaker 1>we need to know who the number one contender is

<v Speaker 1>for the US title, and Saints argue that he beat

<v Speaker 1>Hayes last week, which means that he should be the

<v Speaker 1>one to face Trick Williams. That's it case closed, so

<v Speaker 1>they kept arguing until Trick told the two of them

<v Speaker 1>to shut the hell up, and he said that he

<v Speaker 1>would stomp either one of them. He said, until they

<v Speaker 1>figure things out, shut up while grown folks are talking,

<v Speaker 1>and he went to go leave. Hayes got shoved into

<v Speaker 1>Trick by Ricky, and Hayes starts pummeling on the Saints.

<v Speaker 1>Trick gets back into the ring, he lays them both out,

<v Speaker 1>and they played his music and that was it. It's

<v Speaker 1>like when it was over him, like that's it. It

<v Speaker 1>just sort of ended abruptly and it was just a

<v Speaker 1>very paint by numbers segment. So not much to this really,

<v Speaker 1>but next week they did announce that Ricky Saints and

<v Speaker 1>Carmelo Hayes they're going to wrestle again. They're going to

<v Speaker 1>have a Number one Contenders match. The winner of that

<v Speaker 1>match will go on to challenge Trick for the US

<v Speaker 1>title at Night of Champions. I mean, we've got to

<v Speaker 1>be heading for a triple threat. You would think, now,

<v Speaker 1>if we get a triple threat with the WWE Championship,

<v Speaker 1>maybe they don't want to do the same thing with

<v Speaker 1>the US title. But I think whether it's Night of

<v Speaker 1>Champions or Saturday Night's main event, or clearly we are

<v Speaker 1>going to be headed at some point soon to a

<v Speaker 1>triple threat match with all three of these men involved.

<v Speaker 1>It's only a matter of like which show do they

<v Speaker 1>want to do it on? So I think next week

<v Speaker 1>there's a better than decent chance we don't get a

<v Speaker 1>straight up winner and then we get the triple threat.

<v Speaker 1>If I had to pick one, though, if it's going

<v Speaker 1>to be one over the other, I would say that

<v Speaker 1>we're probably going to end up with Ricky Saints picking

<v Speaker 1>up the win next week. But I feel like we're

<v Speaker 1>just going to go right into a triple threat. Here

<v Speaker 1>it just feeds into everything that Solo has been telling

<v Speaker 1>him for weeks now, the two of them are gonna

<v Speaker 1>end up linking up. That's the end game here, Royce Keys.

<v Speaker 1>Whether he becomes a full fledged MFT or just sort

<v Speaker 1>of loosely aligns himself with Solo, they're gonna end up

<v Speaker 1>on the same side. That's what this is building to.

<v Speaker 1>Everything he's been telling Royce Keys makes sense. It is

<v Speaker 1>the truth. Tonight only backed it up. He told them, Look,

<v Speaker 1>the Bloodline is here to make sure Jay wins. And

<v Speaker 1>and then b Fabrin right into the ring post shoulder first,

<v Speaker 1>right as she was about to tag out to Tiffany,

<v Speaker 1>though Jade Cargill showed up, as if she didn't have

<v Speaker 1>an exciting night already. She shows up and she yanks

<v Speaker 1>Tiffany off the apron, and that led to Michen delivering

<v Speaker 1>a styles clash to Chelsea for the win. Not much

<v Speaker 1>of a match to speak of for Meechin and B Fab.

<v Speaker 1>I mean it's good for them because they're getting they're

<v Speaker 1>getting TV time, which is why I said, like when

<v Speaker 1>they first put them together with Jade, I said, Okay,

<v Speaker 1>this is gonna be great, you know, for the two

<v Speaker 1>of them, because what would they be doing otherwise? You know,

<v Speaker 1>if Jade's going to be featured on the show, that

<v Speaker 1>guarantees that Meechin and B Fab were going to get

<v Speaker 1>weekly TV time. So here they had the chance to wrestle.

<v Speaker 1>They won again. The match itself was not terribly exciting,

<v Speaker 1>but for the two of them, this has been This

<v Speaker 1>is a good thing. It's been a net positive for them.

<v Speaker 1>I can't say that they're in a position that's really

<v Speaker 1>any different than they were when they first started linking

<v Speaker 1>up with Jade, but it's better than the alternative. And

<v Speaker 1>somebody like b Fab, who again hasn't been doing this

<v Speaker 1>as long as like Meechin has, for example, or probably

<v Speaker 1>even Chelsea, the only way to get better is to

<v Speaker 1>get in the ring and get reps. And they don't

<v Speaker 1>have a real house show schedule to speak of. So

<v Speaker 1>when you talk about these people, whether it's a Maxine

<v Speaker 1>Dupre or it's a B fab. They really need to

<v Speaker 1>be getting in the ring on these shows. It's the

<v Speaker 1>only way they're going to get better. It's the only

<v Speaker 1>way they're going to improve. Yeah, they may not be

<v Speaker 1>the most exciting matches in the world, but these are

<v Speaker 1>the types of matches that are necessary when you don't

<v Speaker 1>have live events anymore, at least not in this country.

<v Speaker 1>They just had a whole European tour, but I think

<v Speaker 1>you know what I mean. I mean they've they've cut

<v Speaker 1>back on them significantly and it's really had a negative

<v Speaker 1>effect on some of the lesser experience talents that they

<v Speaker 1>have on the roster. As far as Tiffany and Jade.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, look, we've already been there, you know, been there,

<v Speaker 1>done that with these two multiple matches with Tiffany and Jade.

<v Speaker 1>SummerSlam last year Saturday Night's main event, right, I think

<v Speaker 1>that's when Jade won the championship. So I don't really

<v Speaker 1>have any appetite to go back to this again. If

<v Speaker 1>they want to do this and just kind of blow

<v Speaker 1>get title matches on the show, fine, or if they

<v Speaker 1>want to do it as a TV match one week,

<v Speaker 1>that's fine. Too. This is certainly I mean, there's no

<v Speaker 1>I really hope Julia can turn it around, because the

<v Speaker 1>thing is, you know, they put the US title on

<v Speaker 1>her twice, like I'm a fan of hers, but the

<v Speaker 1>reality is she wasn't over. She just wasn't. You know.

<v Speaker 1>no different than when Zelena Vega would be out there.

<v Speaker 1>and Cody had a very uneasy expression on his face

<v Speaker 1>was in great jeopardy next week. So they closed the

<v Speaker 1>show with the first round four way and the King

<v Speaker 1>of the Ring tournament, Jay Usso, La Knight, Royce Keys,

<v Speaker 1>and Finn Balor. They're all in the ring and La

<v Speaker 1>Night before they're about to lock up, and La Knight

<v Speaker 1>says wait and he looks towards the hardcam and he

<v Speaker 1>goes like this like he wants to run it back.

<v Speaker 1>So they play his music again and he goes to

<v Speaker 1>climb the ropes and Jay immediately goes and attacks him,

<v Speaker 1>and the matches on away. That was funny. That's that's

<v Speaker 1>the best running back spot that we've seen yet. So

<v Speaker 1>I got a nice we'll let chuckle out of that.

<v Speaker 1>There was a there was a spot in here that

<v Speaker 1>got bosh. I think it was La Knight. He went

<v Speaker 1>to go hit a neck breaker on Royce Keys. I

<v Speaker 1>think Keys dropped too soon, thinking that night was already

<v Speaker 1>in mid motion. He wasn't, so he just went down

<v Speaker 1>and Knight had to just figure out a plan B

<v Speaker 1>just to keep things moving here. Keys came back there

<v Speaker 1>with a power slam and had Night pin Ballor broke

<v Speaker 1>it up. A little while later, Keys ran Jay Usso

<v Speaker 1>into the ring steps outside Jimmy Usso all of a

<v Speaker 1>sudden he shows up at ringside and he's nose to

<v Speaker 1>nose outside with Royce Keys and in between them that

<v Speaker 1>They shot this in a way where we could see

<v Speaker 1>someone coming down the aisle and it was solo socoa.

<v Speaker 1>More bloodline drama here as we went to a commercial break.

<v Speaker 1>So later in the match, we had Jay Usso, La Knight,

<v Speaker 1>and Finn Balor all working together. They clear off the

<v Speaker 1>announced desk and they put Royce Keys through the desk

<v Speaker 1>with a shield style triple power bomb. And they when

<v Speaker 1>I say they put him through the desk, I mean

<v Speaker 1>they put him through the desk. They didn't hold back

<v Speaker 1>on this power bomb. He took a rough bump man

<v Speaker 1>through that table, so down he went back inside. Balor

<v Speaker 1>put Jay down with a sling blade, but Jay super

<v Speaker 1>kicked him. Baler then cut off Jay's spear attempt. He

<v Speaker 1>hit another sling blade and he hit a shotgun dropkick.

<v Speaker 1>Balor went up top and La Knight did that thing

<v Speaker 1>where he leaps and jumps to the top rope and

<v Speaker 1>thankfully he didn't slip and fall off Balor though instead

<v Speaker 1>of him delivering the superplex, Balor kind of did an

<v Speaker 1>inverted superplex and dropped him straight down onto j Baler

<v Speaker 1>then hit Ja with the Couda grass and had him

<v Speaker 1>pin Keys though pulled Balor out of the ring. I

<v Speaker 1>guess he he he has risen, he recovered, so he

<v Speaker 1>pulled them out of the ring and solo Sokoa. He's

<v Speaker 1>praising Royce, Keys and everything, but he was distracted as

<v Speaker 1>back turned and jay ussoh or not it La Knight

<v Speaker 1>delivered a kick through the ropes that sent Royce into

<v Speaker 1>solo in the ring. At Night hit Keys with the

<v Speaker 1>top rope elbow drop. He went for a BFT Keys

<v Speaker 1>was able to avoid it. Solo Socoa gets up on

<v Speaker 1>the apron. He hits Night with a Samoan spike, unbeknownst

<v Speaker 1>to Royce, Keys or the referee, which does really matter

<v Speaker 1>because it's a four way so it's notice qualifications. Keys

<v Speaker 1>hit a spinebuster on La Night and he had the

<v Speaker 1>match one. He had him covered. Jay Uso though we

<v Speaker 1>forgot about jay Usso, and he comes flying off the

<v Speaker 1>top rope with a Samoan splash, and Uso splash off

<v Speaker 1>the top onto keys and then he scrambles over on

<v Speaker 1>top of La Night. Of course, La fucking Night takes

<v Speaker 1>the pin here in this match, and jay Usso is

<v Speaker 1>gonna run it back in the semi finals of the

<v Speaker 1>King of the Ring and he will wrestle Javon Evans

<v Speaker 1>in the next round. And this is again, this is

<v Speaker 1>not the updated bracket. This was the updated bracket before

<v Speaker 1>SmackDown Tonight, but you can fill in the blank there

<v Speaker 1>in the lower right hand corner. Jay Usso going to

<v Speaker 1>the semi finals, which means that Monday Night Raw Talents

<v Speaker 1>they ran the table here in this King of the

<v Speaker 1>Ring tournament. Not a single SmackDown Star advanced to the

<v Speaker 1>second round. Unbelievable. SmackDown was utterly and completely buried here

<v Speaker 1>in this tournament. And as if that isn't bad enough,

<v Speaker 1>they went with the least interesting option of all all

<v Speaker 1>SmackDown name, at least moving into the second round. But

<v Speaker 1>never underestimate ww's ability to care less about this show

<v Speaker 1>point that they drove home. Now, as far as where

<v Speaker 1>we go from here, is Jay Usso going to the

<v Speaker 1>finals of this tournament? Is Jay Usso going to win

<v Speaker 1>action in this tournament. We did. But you just start

<v Speaker 1>looking at like, okay, who could go in this spot

<v Speaker 1>get Obafemi and bron Breaker. But maybe on this side

<v Speaker 1>entire tournament qualifiers aside. You had the entire tournament in

<v Speaker 1>one night. It was just a totally different dynamic. Like

<v Speaker 1>when you got to the finals, and in this case

<v Speaker 1>it was Brett, but it could have been anybody else.

<v Speaker 1>It felt like, man, this is a struggle, right because

<v Speaker 1>to win you'd have to win as many as three

<v Speaker 1>matches in one night. None of this bullshit where it's like,

<v Speaker 1>win the entire thing. It was just very different. But

<v Speaker 1>like we had King of the Ring in ninety three

<v Speaker 1>one until two thousand and six, and then it was eight,

<v Speaker 1>There haven't been all that many great king of the

<v Speaker 1>Ring tournaments. I think we look at King of the

<v Speaker 1>Ring as like what we imagine it could be in practice,

<v Speaker 1>though in execution, we've gotten mostly pretty bad tournaments over

<v Speaker 1>the years. Like if you were going to rank them

<v Speaker 1>or go back and watch all of them and then

<v Speaker 1>compare them, I'm willing to bet there were more like

<v Speaker 1>dis pointing, underwhelming or bad tournaments than there are really

<v Speaker 1>good ones. WWE has just I don't know if it's

<v Speaker 1>just a case where they just they don't know how

<v Speaker 1>to do these tournaments, or they just don't care enough.

<v Speaker 1>If they really wanted to put like maximum effort into this,

<v Speaker 1>like some of the entrants would have looked very different

<v Speaker 1>and we'd be sitting here having a very different conversation now.

<v Speaker 1>But I just don't. I think they're just like, yeah,

<v Speaker 1>we'll just do a tournament and whatever, and you know,

<v Speaker 1>this will be all about the Judgment Day, and then

<v Speaker 1>this one will be all about the Bloodline because think
