<v Speaker 1>rest of this card. It was a bloody night. I

<v Speaker 1>feel like we had more blood incidental blood on this

<v Speaker 1>show than we have in a very long time in

<v Speaker 1>WWE fallon Henley lyra Vela CM Punk Punk had the

<v Speaker 1>least of it, but it was either from the nose

<v Speaker 1>of the mouth. So we had some blood on this show.

<v Speaker 1>I told you guys, last night we gathered here to

<v Speaker 1>talk about SmackDown and I ran down the final card

<v Speaker 1>and I said, this is a one match show. This

<v Speaker 1>Saturday Night's main event is going to hinge on how

<v Speaker 1>good the main event is. It's a one match show.

<v Speaker 1>It all comes down to Cody Rhoads and Cmpunk against

<v Speaker 1>Gunther and Sammy's A, which had the potential to be

<v Speaker 1>a really fun match, and that one match delivered. I

<v Speaker 1>actually thought the main event was a lot of fun,

<v Speaker 1>except it ended up not being the main event. I

<v Speaker 1>keep calling it the main event, but as it turns out,

<v Speaker 1>it was not the main event on this show here tonight,

<v Speaker 1>which is pretty crazy because they gave the main event

<v Speaker 1>to Roman Reigns. In case you were wondering who the

<v Speaker 1>man in WWE is. In case you were wondering who's

<v Speaker 1>probably getting that night to Summer Rustlam main event, look

<v Speaker 1>no further. Roman Reigns, the World Heavyweight Champion, was promoted

<v Speaker 1>for a segment with the captain of the New York Knicks.

<v Speaker 1>You were reigning twenty twenty six NBA Champion New York Knicks,

<v Speaker 1>Jalen Brunson. We were never told what they were going

<v Speaker 1>to be doing. All we were told is that Roman

<v Speaker 1>Reigns and Jalen Brunson were going to be together. They

<v Speaker 1>were going to be doing something on Saturday Night's main event.

<v Speaker 1>They weren't going to be wrestling. They were gonna be

<v Speaker 1>doing something, and they saved that for the closing segment

<v Speaker 1>of the show. And Jalen Brunton comes out, he gets

<v Speaker 1>a full entrance and Roman Range joins him and they

<v Speaker 1>make their way down to the rain boil. Let me

<v Speaker 1>tell you something. If you love this aura farming era

<v Speaker 1>of WWE that we are in, they gave you exactly

<v Speaker 1>what you wanted in that closing segment because you knew

<v Speaker 1>as soon as Brunson started slowly walking through the backstage area,

<v Speaker 1>going to get in the closing minutes of this show

<v Speaker 1>to MSG, Knowing that Dan Housen and the Dan Housen

<v Speaker 1>Curse became such a big part of Knick's lore in

<v Speaker 1>the postseason this year. Did you honestly expect anything other

<v Speaker 1>than what we got on this show tonight. Did you

<v Speaker 1>expect the WWE was not going to go all in

<v Speaker 1>to try to exploit that and try to do something

<v Speaker 1>like this so they can mooch off the Knicks who

<v Speaker 1>just won this championship. This is such a big deal

<v Speaker 1>here in New York City. This is exactly what they

<v Speaker 1>were gonna do. And they were or certainly if there

<v Speaker 1>were players who wanted to participate in the show, they

<v Speaker 1>were gonna say no. There to be like, fuck, yeah,

<v Speaker 1>let's see how we could work these guys into the show.

<v Speaker 1>And Jalen Brunson was not the only Nick who made

<v Speaker 1>an appearance on this show and had a role on

<v Speaker 1>this show. I'm not shocked by any of this. I

<v Speaker 1>think the fans in the building clearly enjoyed it. They

<v Speaker 1>loved Jalen Brunson, they loved the Knicks. If you are

<v Speaker 1>in New York City, if you're in New York City, person,

<v Speaker 1>you know how special that championship was here to the

<v Speaker 1>people of this city. And you know, even those who

<v Speaker 1>maybe aren't die hard NBA fans, right, it was a

<v Speaker 1>big deal here in New York. So for the fans

<v Speaker 1>who were in the garden, they seem to love it.

<v Speaker 1>not from New York, who may not even be from

<v Speaker 1>this country, who may not even like basketball, then you

<v Speaker 1>closing segment and think that they were setting up for

<v Speaker 1>a big tag match in the main event of SummerSlam.

<v Speaker 1>They're definitely not with Jalen Brunson. If you saw the

<v Speaker 1>cast on his wrist, he didn't do anything physical. Neither

<v Speaker 1>did Halliburton. He's coming off a pretty serious injury too.

<v Speaker 1>vibes from what was going on there the end of

<v Speaker 1>of place. It felt like if they were gonna have

<v Speaker 1>a big Madison Square Gardens Super show. Perfect segment for that,

<v Speaker 1>a flying fuck about what they saw in that closing segment.

<v Speaker 1>It was Cody Rhoads and cmpunk Can they coexist? Tag

<v Speaker 1>team partners against Gunther and Sammy's Ain And we had

<v Speaker 1>a big stipulation added to the match last night on Smackdom,

<v Speaker 1>the championship match at summers to make it a fatal

<v Speaker 1>four way, which got a lot of people talking and thinking, well,

<v Speaker 1>maybe we're gonna get a four way.

<v Speaker 1>That answers the question about what Sammy's Ain going to

<v Speaker 1>be doing at SummerSlam, except that it flies in the

<v Speaker 1>face of the obvious match for Gunther, which was against

<v Speaker 1>Nick Aldis who we saw tonight. In fact, Nick Aldas

<v Speaker 1>played a direct role in Gunther and Sammy's Ain losing

<v Speaker 1>the match. So, as of this moment, the championship match

<v Speaker 1>at SummerSlam remains one on one for the moment. For

<v Speaker 1>the moment, it remains one on one between Cody Rhodes

<v Speaker 1>and cmpunk, And it makes you wonder, now we know

<v Speaker 1>what Gunther's path is going to be right now, there

<v Speaker 1>can be no doubt we're gonna see Nick all this

<v Speaker 1>don the tights once again. He'll be wrestling Gunther. But

<v Speaker 1>what does Sammy Zain do at SummerSlam. You watch this, Sammy,

<v Speaker 1>through no fault of his own, once again got fun

<v Speaker 1>over tonight. Sammy's Ain got screwed. Sammy's Ain is going

<v Speaker 1>to blow a gasket over the general manager of his show.

<v Speaker 1>This is his boss who interfered in the match and

<v Speaker 1>directly cost him an opportunity to challenge for the WWE Championship.

<v Speaker 1>He didn't do anything wrong. It would only be fair

<v Speaker 1>not even Punk. I had my eyes on Cody Roads

<v Speaker 1>the way that he was acting. I thought for a

<v Speaker 1>moment there he was gonna smack Punk right in the face.

<v Speaker 1>It felt to me like we might actually get Cody

<v Speaker 1>roades heelter and on this show.

<v Speaker 2>And he didn't.

<v Speaker 1>You know, he kind of raised Punk's hand and everything

<v Speaker 1>was all hunky dory between them, and I love how

<v Speaker 1>he Punk. He gives Punk the belt because he's staring

<v Speaker 1>at the championship and he hands Punk the belt and

<v Speaker 1>Punk goes to sling it over his shoulder and the

<v Speaker 1>strap smacks Cody right in the eye, and Cody's just

<v Speaker 1>that are going to lead to tensions boiling over. Probably

<v Speaker 1>watch it. Laredo Kid, he counted a bookend into a

<v Speaker 1>ago was the Stridex blimp at Summer Slam that they

<v Speaker 1>had in the building. Oh my god, that was like

<v Speaker 1>their title sponsor back then, stridex zippads. My god, it

<v Speaker 1>weeks ago. Dom had the Knicks jersey. Dan Housen entered

<v Speaker 1>in his Dan Housend Mobile. He abandoned it on the stage,

<v Speaker 1>and then we see the cloning Machine is back. This

<v Speaker 1>is foreshadowing. Cloning Machine was just sitting there right there

<v Speaker 1>We're gonna have this match and as soon as I mean, look,

<v Speaker 1>dan Housen's in it. So that right there tells you

<v Speaker 1>there's going to be some shenanigans. But once they made

<v Speaker 1>be all kinds of high jinks and comedy and bullshit. Right,

<v Speaker 1>sent dan Housen outside. Dan Housen was being bounced off

<v Speaker 1>the barricades. He was getting the shit kicked out of him.

<v Speaker 1>So back inside, dan Housen got supplexed and dom was

<v Speaker 1>using the Nick jersey to clean his shoes. Fans did

<v Speaker 1>not like that. When they showed that on the big screen,

<v Speaker 1>they started booing very They're probably booing this more than

<v Speaker 1>anything else on the show up to this point. McDonough

<v Speaker 1>then dropped dan Housen with the Brainbuster. So then McDonough

<v Speaker 1>grabbed the jersey from Dom and he wiped his ass

<v Speaker 1>with it, and that got him some heat. He went

<v Speaker 1>for a moon salt. Nobody home. Dan Housen was able

<v Speaker 1>to move out of the way and he was able

<v Speaker 1>to get his jersey back. He put the jersey on

<v Speaker 1>and he no sold some strikes. I guess the jersey

<v Speaker 1>brought him some great power. I guess because he went

<v Speaker 1>on offense. Dom got into the ring. Dan Housen suplexed

<v Speaker 1>him McDonough went for a slam dan house encountered and

<v Speaker 1>lighted him out, but then Dom attacked dan Housen from behind,

<v Speaker 1>and now it's two on one and they're stomping the

<v Speaker 1>crap out of this guy. So McDonough tears the jersey

<v Speaker 1>off dan Housen, who rolls out of the ring and

<v Speaker 1>he starts going down the aisle towards the stage like

<v Speaker 1>he's leaving. Meanwhile, Dom and McDonough back at ringset, right

<v Speaker 1>in front of the announcers. They go under the ring

<v Speaker 1>and they pull out a slim gym table, got your

<v Speaker 1>branded tables? What was the logo by the way in

<v Speaker 1>the middle of the ring to Oh, it was a

<v Speaker 1>KFC logo? Is that what I think? That's what I

<v Speaker 1>was going to ask, Like, they had this giant logo

<v Speaker 1>in the middle of the ring and I couldn't tell

<v Speaker 1>it first what it was.

<v Speaker 2>I'm pretty sure it was KFC.

<v Speaker 1>Well, I mean, look back in the day in WCW

<v Speaker 1>and boy did he get the shit choke slammed at it.

<v Speaker 1>This was a great choke slam and all credit to

<v Speaker 1>McDonagh on this. But Town's got him up. Is he

<v Speaker 1>seven feet Okay, yeah, I could believe it. He's seven

<v Speaker 1>feet seven to one. All right, let's say he's seven

<v Speaker 1>feet seven feet tall. Legit seven feet tall and you

<v Speaker 1>can't teach that. And he picks McDonough up in the

<v Speaker 1>air and fold him up. Gigantic choke slam. Then he

<v Speaker 1>grabs dom. This was a good choke slam, a little

<v Speaker 1>more tame. He choke slams him through the table and

<v Speaker 1>then at that point Dan Housen hit McDonough with his

<v Speaker 1>triple D finish to pick up the win. Look, this

<v Speaker 1>was exactly what I expected.

<v Speaker 1>It was the crowd pleasing match of the night. Dan

<v Speaker 1>Housen was, you know. He came out there, got a

<v Speaker 1>heroes welcome. They had one of the New York Knicks

<v Speaker 1>players come out of the cloning machine to the big ovation.

<v Speaker 1>He was the only one really who got physical on

<v Speaker 1>the show because he's not among the walking wounded. But

<v Speaker 1>what they had him do was very safe. Again, all

<v Speaker 1>he had to do was just grab these guys by

<v Speaker 1>the throat and just go like this and they'll do

<v Speaker 1>the rest. And everyone popped for it, and Dan Housen

<v Speaker 1>picks up the wind. You either are a fan of

<v Speaker 1>Dan Housen and his stick or you're not. There's really

<v Speaker 1>no in between. And if you're a Knicks fan, then

<v Speaker 1>you probably enjoyed the cat cameo. But there's really not

<v Speaker 1>much else to say about it. It would have been ridiculous

<v Speaker 1>to leave Dan Housen off this show, right. I said

<v Speaker 1>this weeks and weeks ago. I said to build this

<v Speaker 1>show around him, and they did. They built the advertising

<v Speaker 1>around him until they announced the tag team match, which

<v Speaker 1>was only last week. All the posters and everything had

<v Speaker 1>Dan Housen in it. We didn't even know anything else

<v Speaker 1>about this show. They had him in New York doing

<v Speaker 1>all kinds of media leading up to it. They had

<v Speaker 1>a parade earlier today. If you watch it on Peacock,

<v Speaker 1>they streamed the whole thing. It was him and Our

<v Speaker 1>Truth were on this little makeshift Dan Housen parade float

<v Speaker 1>that was moving very very very very slowly down the

<v Speaker 1>street in Midtown, Manhattan on its way to Madison Square Garden.

<v Speaker 1>And it was pouring today. By the way, the weather

<v Speaker 1>was just straight ass here in New York. I mean

<v Speaker 1>when I say it was rainy, it was fucking downpour today.

<v Speaker 1>It was I mean at one o'clock in the afternoon,

<v Speaker 1>and you don't have a lot of matches announced and

<v Speaker 1>one of them is this comedy stuff, you feel it

<v Speaker 1>a lot more. If they had six matches on this

<v Speaker 1>card and one of them was the comic relief match

<v Speaker 1>of the night, and you did all the Dan Housen stuff.

<v Speaker 1>has new entrance music, which is really just her old

<v Speaker 1>floor outside. When Bailey picks her up to move her,

<v Speaker 1>I notice, oh shit, there's a ton of blood. On

<v Speaker 1>the floor outside, and there's no way that this woman

<v Speaker 1>bladed herself. So I'm like, she got hit in the

<v Speaker 1>nose of the mouth. Something happened here. She got hit

<v Speaker 1>in the nose. They showed the slow motion replay of it.

<v Speaker 1>She got hit in the nose with an elbow, So

<v Speaker 1>Bailey didn't even hit her like with a right hand shot.

<v Speaker 1>She caught her with either like this part of the

<v Speaker 1>forearm here, or I think it was the elbow, so

<v Speaker 1>I think of when Brock opened up Sina all those

<v Speaker 1>years ago, or Randy Orton with the elbow. She went off,

<v Speaker 1>fucking brock lesnar on Lira's face here guarantee if she

<v Speaker 1>broke her nose. There were puddles of blood in different

<v Speaker 1>spots on the floor outside. I was actually kind of shocked.

<v Speaker 1>They didn't wipe that up as quickly as I thought

<v Speaker 1>they would. They left it there for a while, so

<v Speaker 1>you see like a little blood here, blood here, blood there,

<v Speaker 1>blood there, and the doctor is right there. I'm like, boy,

<v Speaker 1>I'm surprised he hasn't already like sopped that shit up

<v Speaker 1>because it's dangerous.

<v Speaker 2>You know.

<v Speaker 1>They kept going back outside, and I'm like, at one point,

<v Speaker 1>Bailey was teasing doing some kind of dive or something

<v Speaker 1>out to the floor like in that area, and I'm like,

<v Speaker 1>she's liable to slip. You know, there's enough blood on

<v Speaker 1>the floor out there where it might make it a

<v Speaker 1>little slick. So she got She got hit pretty bad here,

<v Speaker 1>and I thought they might stop the match. I mean,

<v Speaker 1>this the way WWE operates these days, and they did

<v Speaker 1>at one point, like the referee held Bailey back a

<v Speaker 1>little bit, and they kept Lyra off camera because they

<v Speaker 1>were wiping the nose to try to get rid of

<v Speaker 1>the blood, and they did for a little bit. Eventually

<v Speaker 1>it came back. Thankfully, they didn't stop the match. I mean,

<v Speaker 1>come on, give me, give me a fucking break. These

<v Speaker 1>women are tougher than that. So the match continued on

<v Speaker 1>and referee at one point uh was holding Bailey back

<v Speaker 1>as Lyra was being checked on. Bailey, though, she went

<v Speaker 1>and did this low dive out onto her on the floor,

<v Speaker 1>rolled her back into the ring. Bailey put Lyra in

<v Speaker 1>a Boston crab right in the center of the ring.

<v Speaker 1>She wasn't even close to the ropes. Lyra slipped out.

<v Speaker 1>She sent Bailey to the corner and Bailey ended up

<v Speaker 1>on top. Lyra she got there first delivered a neck

<v Speaker 1>breaker onto the top turn buckle, and then she hit

<v Speaker 1>this great looking guillotine because she had Bailey kind of

<v Speaker 1>hanging over the ropes, and she hit this guillotine leg

<v Speaker 1>drop she got.

<v Speaker 2>I mean, they showed a replay of it.

<v Speaker 1>She got great height on this and just came right

<v Speaker 1>down on the back of Bailey's neck. Bailey, though, was

<v Speaker 1>able to make a comeback when she caught Lyra's leg

<v Speaker 1>off a spin kick attempt and she sent her into

<v Speaker 1>the corner, and so she ends up putting her in

<v Speaker 1>a cross face, which I'm sure didn't feel too good

<v Speaker 1>if she did have a broken nose, or even if

<v Speaker 1>it wasn't broken.

<v Speaker 2>I mean, clearly she had.

<v Speaker 1>A nose injury, and Bailey just has her in a

<v Speaker 1>cross face and it's like her fucking hands are right

<v Speaker 1>across the bridge of the nose and she's wrenching back

<v Speaker 1>on her here. But anyway, the hole got broken. Lyra

<v Speaker 1>was able to use a sling blade to take down

<v Speaker 1>Bailey locked in a sleeper hole. Then she bridged up. Basically,

<v Speaker 1>she had the John Moxley bulldog choke applied, and she

<v Speaker 1>bridged up to apply even more pressure to the choke.

<v Speaker 1>Bailey looked like she was at least on her way

<v Speaker 1>to going out, and the referee call for.

<v Speaker 2>The stoppage and that was it.

<v Speaker 1>When the match was over, Lyra she was outside with Bailey.

<v Speaker 1>She sent her head first into the ring post. The

<v Speaker 1>led casing around the ring post reapplied the choke. Referee

<v Speaker 1>was able to get her off Bailey. Lyra goes over

<v Speaker 1>to the steel steps and she removes the top half

<v Speaker 1>of the steps and then she set Bailey up for

<v Speaker 1>a night wing onto the flat bottom part and that's

<v Speaker 1>how she left her. Bailey was just sprawled out across

<v Speaker 1>the steps and the camera followed Lyra down the aisle.

<v Speaker 1>I do like when they have these Saturday nights made

<v Speaker 1>e Bench shows, the aisleway is a lot more narrow,

<v Speaker 1>so the fans can kind of reach out and they're

<v Speaker 1>just they're closer to the talent, which is kind of

<v Speaker 1>how it used to be, but just bringing the fans

<v Speaker 1>in a little bit more like that visually, I just

<v Speaker 1>think it makes it just makes for a better visual

<v Speaker 1>instead of putting so much separation as they sometimes do

<v Speaker 1>between the talent and the fans when they're all right

<v Speaker 1>there and they're coming out and they just want to like,

<v Speaker 1>you know, touch their arm or something like that. You know,

<v Speaker 1>that's how it used to be.

<v Speaker 2>You know.

<v Speaker 1>It just felt more like the fans are more crowded

<v Speaker 1>around them. Lyra's talking shit to the fans as she's

<v Speaker 1>going to the back. This was good stuff. This was

<v Speaker 1>good stuff. Obviously the blood was not intentional. I do

<v Speaker 1>think it added to the match because you have these

<v Speaker 1>two women who have a grudge issue.

<v Speaker 2>You know, these two women.

<v Speaker 1>Were friends turned enemies, and Lyra was talking about, you know,

<v Speaker 1>what she's going to do to Bailey on this show.

<v Speaker 1>She was right on top of her right from the

<v Speaker 1>start of the match, and so I would say a

<v Speaker 1>little blood goes a long way, but there was more

<v Speaker 1>than more than a little blood coming out of that nose.

<v Speaker 1>There were a few rough moments in this match. I

<v Speaker 1>just chalk that up to Lyra trying to get her bearings,

<v Speaker 1>you know, with the injury. It was like right after

<v Speaker 1>it happened, there was just some back and forth with

<v Speaker 1>them that was a little off. So I just kind

<v Speaker 1>of chalk it up to that. But this whole issue

<v Speaker 1>of like, oh is this Bailey's sendoff? Did we just

<v Speaker 1>witness Bailey's last match in WWE.

<v Speaker 2>I don't know what.

<v Speaker 1>Her contract status is. I know all of the talk

<v Speaker 1>has been that her contract is up this year. My

<v Speaker 1>impression was that it was later in the year, but

<v Speaker 1>I don't think it's ever really been reported exactly when her.

<v Speaker 2>Deal is up. Now.

<v Speaker 1>When I did the sound off at the beginning of

<v Speaker 1>the year, and I do my annual prediction show every year,

<v Speaker 1>in my predictions, said that if there's anybody who's going

<v Speaker 1>to go from WWE to AEW and not the other

<v Speaker 1>way around, I think Bailey leaves before the end of

<v Speaker 1>the year. She leaves WWE at the end of her

<v Speaker 1>deal and she goes to AEW. And I still feel

<v Speaker 1>that way. I just don't know when her contract is up.

<v Speaker 1>I don't think this is the last time that we're

<v Speaker 1>going to see Bailey in a WWE ring. I'm not

<v Speaker 1>writing her off as if that's the end of Bailey. No,

<v Speaker 1>this was an angle that absolutely felt like they were

<v Speaker 1>writing her off television. But I would still expect her

<v Speaker 1>to come back. And this was only the first match, right,

<v Speaker 1>So my guess is we get at least one more,

<v Speaker 1>if not a three match series.

<v Speaker 2>Between them.

<v Speaker 1>Maybe at the end of it, that's their way of

<v Speaker 1>writing her off if she is going to leave. But

<v Speaker 1>there's been nothing reported about what her current status is,

<v Speaker 1>or that her contract is up and you know, imminently,

<v Speaker 1>or anything like that. I wouldn't read too much into this.

<v Speaker 1>This was an angle that I think writes her off television,

<v Speaker 1>maybe for a couple of weeks, and then she'll probably

<v Speaker 1>be back and we'll get another match between them. I

<v Speaker 1>don't know that we need one. I mean, Lyra beat

<v Speaker 1>her pretty decisively here. She didn't cheat, you know, there

<v Speaker 1>was no ref bump, she didn't put her feet on

<v Speaker 1>the ropes, there was no Tatum Pasley. I thought maybe

<v Speaker 1>they were going to debut somebody new from NXT, you know,

<v Speaker 1>to kind of pair them up with Lyra.

<v Speaker 2>No.

<v Speaker 1>I mean they had a straight wrestling match. This woman

<v Speaker 1>was leaking like a sieve, and she got the win.

<v Speaker 1>She has a new finishing move and she got the win.

<v Speaker 1>And so to that end, I liked it. I was

<v Speaker 1>very skeptical about Lyra as a heel. If you remember

<v Speaker 1>when she first turned on Bailey all those weeks ago.

<v Speaker 1>I said that, I said, I don't know if she's

<v Speaker 1>got a heel run in her. I've never seen Lyra

<v Speaker 1>Valkyria as a heel. What kind of heel would she be?

<v Speaker 2>I don't know.

<v Speaker 1>Now we're starting to see what kind of heel they

<v Speaker 1>want her to be, and I like how vicious she

<v Speaker 1>was here on this show, and I think that if

<v Speaker 1>she's really committed to this role, this could work. This

<v Speaker 1>could work for her. I mean, she's already more interesting

<v Speaker 1>now just doing this stuff than she was six months ago,

<v Speaker 1>so she may well have a good heel run in her.

<v Speaker 1>It's not just up to her, though, you know. WWE

<v Speaker 1>has to be able to program her with the right

<v Speaker 1>people and really commit to it. I don't trust them.

<v Speaker 1>I trust that she'll put her all into it, and

<v Speaker 1>she clearly there's something there. But can WWE follow through

<v Speaker 1>as always that is the question. But yeah, I wouldn't

<v Speaker 1>read too much yet into the Bailey stuff, although I

<v Speaker 1>do expect her to leave. I think within the next

<v Speaker 1>I think within the next year we're gonna get Mercedes

<v Speaker 1>and Bailey back in the ring together totally. We have

<v Speaker 1>not seen the last match between them, either as tag

<v Speaker 1>team partners or opponents, and the next time we see

<v Speaker 1>it it will not be in WWE backstage, Kathy Kelly

<v Speaker 1>interviewed the WWE champion CM Punk and Cody road side

<v Speaker 1>by side if the gorilla position as they were preparing

<v Speaker 1>to go out for their tag team match. Cody said

<v Speaker 1>that he was surprised that she didn't ask the age

<v Speaker 1>old question of whether he and punk Ken coexist. Motherfucker.

<v Speaker 1>I had that shit in the thumbnail before he even

<v Speaker 1>uttered the words, before this show even came on the

<v Speaker 1>air tonight. What you see in the thumbnail was there

<v Speaker 1>from from fucking early this morning. That's all this was.

<v Speaker 1>Can they co exist? This whole thing was built on

<v Speaker 1>the trope of can they co exist? So Cody was

<v Speaker 1>poking some fun at it here. Cody said, of course

<v Speaker 1>they could, and he added that he didn't want Punk

<v Speaker 1>to have any excuses when he beats him at SummerSlam,

<v Speaker 1>and Punk smiled and delivered a very similar statement about

<v Speaker 1>not wanting Cody to have any excuses. And then they

<v Speaker 1>bickered about who should go out first, and they played

<v Speaker 1>Cody's music and so off he went first, and then

<v Speaker 1>we got the main event, which actually ended up not

<v Speaker 1>being the main event of this show, but it was

<v Speaker 1>my main event. It was the real main event of

<v Speaker 1>this show. It was an actual fucking wrestling match. It

<v Speaker 1>was CM Punk and Cody Rhoades as tag team partners

<v Speaker 1>taking Gunther and Sammy z Ain with the stipulation that

<v Speaker 1>if Gunther and sammy's Ain could win this match, they

<v Speaker 1>would be added to the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam

<v Speaker 1>to make it a fatal four way. No chance of

<v Speaker 1>that happening because of the nick all this stuff. Clearly

<v Speaker 1>we knew that match was going to come at SummerSlam,

<v Speaker 1>and so for me, for me personally, there wasn't any

<v Speaker 1>real drama about how this match was going to go.

<v Speaker 1>I still like that they added the stipulation. I especially

<v Speaker 1>like it because, just based on some of the stuff

<v Speaker 1>I saw on social media, apparently there were a lot

<v Speaker 1>of people who did not pick up on the fact

<v Speaker 1>that they were going to be doing GUNTHERER and nick All.

<v Speaker 1>This is SummerSlam, and they legitimately the thought that we

<v Speaker 1>might get a fatal four way. So for a good

<v Speaker 1>chunk of the audience, I guess it probably worked.

<v Speaker 2>But I liked that.

<v Speaker 1>They added something tangible to this match instead of it

<v Speaker 1>just being a tag team match. Now there was something

<v Speaker 1>on the line, and there was at least a segment

<v Speaker 1>of the audience who really did believe that they were

<v Speaker 1>going to get a fatal four way because all four

<v Speaker 1>of these men have been linked together in some way,

<v Speaker 1>and logically people are probably looking at it going, well,

<v Speaker 1>what else would they do? What else would Sammy Zain

<v Speaker 1>be doing at SummerSlam right if they didn't do a

<v Speaker 1>fatal four way match, which is a fair point. So

<v Speaker 1>as soon as Sammy got to the ring, he was

<v Speaker 1>the last one out, he and Punk just started going

<v Speaker 1>at it, and then Gunther and Cody started going at it,

<v Speaker 1>so a hot start right off the bat. There were

<v Speaker 1>no collar and elbow tie ups, no theatrics, nothing, just fighting,

<v Speaker 1>just picking up where they left off at the end

<v Speaker 1>of SmackDown the night before. So Sammy distracted the referee

<v Speaker 1>while Gunther took Punk out to the floor dropped him

<v Speaker 1>onto the barricade. Cody went outside to go help Punk.

<v Speaker 1>He actually picked Punk up and threw him back in

<v Speaker 1>the ring because he wanted to make sure that his

<v Speaker 1>team did lose. So I don't know if Punk was

<v Speaker 1>fully recovered yet. Cody didn't seem to care though he

<v Speaker 1>didn't want Punk to get counted out, so he threw

<v Speaker 1>him back in the ring, and Sammy just starts beating

<v Speaker 1>on Punk and he's screaming at him. You stole it

<v Speaker 1>from me, You stole it from me. So Punk was bleeding.

<v Speaker 2>From the mouth.

<v Speaker 1>More blood on this show. I don't know if he

<v Speaker 1>bit his lip or his tongue. I don't know what

<v Speaker 1>he did, but there was blood coming from his mouth.

<v Speaker 1>Maybe he had internal bleeding. He crawled over to tag

<v Speaker 1>Cody just as Sammy tag Gunther into the ring and

<v Speaker 1>Cody laid out gun Through with a disaster kick. Sammy

<v Speaker 1>tried to get involved here. Rhodes, though, put him down

<v Speaker 1>with a Cody cutter and sent him right back outside.

<v Speaker 1>You then hit a Cody cutterund Gunther from the top

<v Speaker 1>only got a two count out of it. He went

<v Speaker 1>for a crossroads Gunher was able to avoid it that

<v Speaker 1>We tagged Sammy and who tried for a blue thunderbomb.

<v Speaker 1>Cody kicked out, so Sammy went for a halluva kick.

<v Speaker 1>He did not connect with it. Cody instead tagged in

<v Speaker 1>CM Punk, who came off the top with.

<v Speaker 2>The forearm and a bulldog.

<v Speaker 1>Punk dropped the flying elbow from the top rope and

<v Speaker 1>then locked down the Anacon device. Gunther tried to break

<v Speaker 1>the whole. Cody, though, cut him off put him in

<v Speaker 1>a figure four leg locks, so now we had dueling

<v Speaker 1>stereo submissions here in this match. Guntherer, though, was able

<v Speaker 1>to roll over in the figure four just enough to

<v Speaker 1>reach over and gouge Punk's eyes to break that hold,

<v Speaker 1>and then Guntherer yelled at Sammy Sammy so Sammy could

<v Speaker 1>come over and break the figure four. Sammy hit an

<v Speaker 1>exploder into the corner on Punk and he was gearing

<v Speaker 1>up for a halluva kick and this time it connected,

<v Speaker 1>but then Cody hit Sammy with a crossroads. Gunther then

<v Speaker 1>threw alhad lariat that dropped Cody and he went for Punk. Punk,

<v Speaker 1>though caught him with a GTS. All four men now

<v Speaker 1>are down for the reset. Gunther got up first. He

<v Speaker 1>shoved Punk into Cody, who was on the apron and

<v Speaker 1>not Cody to the floor. Oh oh, the two of

<v Speaker 1>them collided. Yeah falcons though, man, that's a good point.

<v Speaker 1>This match was all gas, no brakes. Usually these WWE shows,

<v Speaker 1>at least the ones on TV, although I guess PL's

<v Speaker 1>are really not that much different. Usually the WWE shows

<v Speaker 1>are all breaks as in commercial breaks. This match, though,

<v Speaker 1>it was all gas no brakes. So after Gunther shoved

<v Speaker 1>Punk it to Cody and not Cody off the apron,

<v Speaker 1>he locked the sleeper hole in on CM. Punk managed

<v Speaker 1>to stand up. He tried for a GTS. Gunther though,

<v Speaker 1>got him down in the hold again, but Punk he

<v Speaker 1>got up close to his corner, close enough anyway that

<v Speaker 1>Cody was able to tag himself in and he delivered

<v Speaker 1>a Crossroads to Gunther to drop him. Cody went for

<v Speaker 1>the pin. Sammy flew in though and broke things up.

<v Speaker 1>So in all of the chaos that was unfolding here,

<v Speaker 1>Charles Robinson the referee, he took a bump. We got

<v Speaker 1>a ref bump, which meant fuckery was coming here in

<v Speaker 1>this match. Punk hit a GTS on Sammy and then

<v Speaker 1>he and Cody started taking turns, just throwing haymakers at Gunther.

<v Speaker 1>It was two on one on Gunther. The baby Faces

<v Speaker 1>were ganging up on the heel. No referee though, because

<v Speaker 1>Robinson is still down. So Cody went for a Cody Cutter,

<v Speaker 1>but Gunther moved and he hit Punk with it by accident.

<v Speaker 1>That's the second miscommunication here between these two men in

<v Speaker 1>this match. Gun left the ring. He went to go

<v Speaker 1>grab the WWE Championship brings it into the ring and

<v Speaker 1>he blasts Cody in the head with the belt and

<v Speaker 1>then he power bombed him. No referee, so he's waving

<v Speaker 1>for another referee to come on down. Here comes another referee.

<v Speaker 1>He runs down to the ring, he slides in and

<v Speaker 1>the camera cut to a different angle that showed us

<v Speaker 1>Nick Aldos was crouched down outside the ring.

<v Speaker 2>Oops.

<v Speaker 1>I don't think they meant to show that. So we

<v Speaker 1>already kind of got spoiled as far as what was

<v Speaker 1>about to happen. But as the referee begins to county

<v Speaker 1>counts one, he counts two and sure enough, Oh my god,

<v Speaker 1>I'll act surprise here. Oh my god, look everybody, it's

<v Speaker 1>Nick all this in his suit. And he pulls the

<v Speaker 1>referee out of the ring and Gunther is just he's

<v Speaker 1>beside himself, you know. He gets up to his feet.

<v Speaker 1>All this has now taken possession of the WWE Championship belt,

<v Speaker 1>and Gunther kind of that reaches outside, but he kind

<v Speaker 1>of bends over like he's looking at all, this is

<v Speaker 1>what are you doing? It all just reaches up and

<v Speaker 1>just wallops him right upside the head with the belt.

<v Speaker 1>Gunther staggers backwards and cm Punk puts him down with

<v Speaker 1>a go to sleep. Punk then pulls Cody, who was

<v Speaker 1>the legal man, on top of Gunther all descends the

<v Speaker 1>referee back into the ring to count the one, two three. Sammy,

<v Speaker 1>he tried to make that last minute safe. He just

<v Speaker 1>couldn't get there in time, and Cody Rhodes and Cmpunk

<v Speaker 1>they secure their main event, very likely the night one

<v Speaker 1>main event at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship. It will

<v Speaker 1>not be a fatal for it because it was never

<v Speaker 1>going to be a fatal four way. They just wanted

<v Speaker 1>you to believe that it might be. But no, it

<v Speaker 1>is one on one. I really like this match. Never

<v Speaker 1>let up, It was never boring. There was never a

<v Speaker 1>dull moment here. It was all action from the very beginning.

<v Speaker 1>Crowd was into it and again there was at least

<v Speaker 1>something on the line here, so it created some dramatic

<v Speaker 1>near falls towards the end. So I really liked the match.

<v Speaker 1>It was a one match show really needed that one

<v Speaker 1>match to deliver, and I felt like it did. There

<v Speaker 1>were some miscommunications between Punk and Cody, but when the

<v Speaker 1>match was over. I mean, it was nothing that derailed

<v Speaker 1>the match. They still won. And that was one of

<v Speaker 1>the things, Like I said this last week, like Cody

<v Speaker 1>and Punk were going to win this match because I

<v Speaker 1>just could not imagine them beating either one of them.

<v Speaker 1>Punk is the champion, they're not going to beat him.

<v Speaker 1>Cody is the former champion, the number one contender, They're

<v Speaker 1>not going to beat him. It just seemed pretty obvious

<v Speaker 1>they were going to win the match regardless. But it

<v Speaker 1>wasn't like after the match they were at each other's

<v Speaker 1>throats or anything, Hey why'd you hit me?

<v Speaker 2>Or why why'd you bump into me? Like everything was cool?

<v Speaker 2>Was cool.

<v Speaker 1>I was watching Cody, he was acting a little strange.

<v Speaker 1>I thought something might go down here. He was holding

<v Speaker 1>the belt and I'm watching him, but hands the belt

<v Speaker 1>over to Punk. Punk slings the belt over his shoulder,

<v Speaker 1>and in so doing, the strap smack Cody in the face.

<v Speaker 1>Punk didn't seem like he knew that.

<v Speaker 2>He left the ring.

<v Speaker 1>Cody didn't seem very happy. They're building to it. There's

<v Speaker 1>gonna be an explosion, maybe on Friday next week. There's

<v Speaker 1>gonna be an explosion between these two. Nick all this

<v Speaker 1>costing Gunther seemed to be the obvious choice. I said

<v Speaker 1>last night in the SmackDown review, does he interfere during

<v Speaker 1>the match or does he make it appearance after the

<v Speaker 1>match is over? And it did make more sense for

<v Speaker 1>him to appear during the match and cost Gunther. But

<v Speaker 1>here's the thing about that. So that's great, he gets

<v Speaker 1>his revenge on Gunther. I don't know if that's gonna

<v Speaker 1>cost him his job where he is permanently removed from

<v Speaker 1>the GM position. I think he does a good job

<v Speaker 1>as the GM. I think it's still the right role

<v Speaker 1>for him. I don't see him returning to a full

<v Speaker 1>time wrestling role, so I don't know if they'll fire

<v Speaker 1>him in that role.

<v Speaker 2>But they're going to set up a.

<v Speaker 1>Match between them for Summer Slim right that that much

<v Speaker 1>is very clear. What about Sammy's Ain. Sammy's ain just

<v Speaker 1>got royally screwed by his boss who let his emotions

<v Speaker 1>get the best of him and he interfered in a

<v Speaker 1>match that he had no business getting involved in. In

<v Speaker 1>two of them made their way out on stage together

<v Speaker 1>off Piro. Michael Cole said this was Brunson's first time

<v Speaker 1>stepping foot inside Madison Square Garden since the Knicks won

<v Speaker 1>their championship. Once they got into the ring, even more Pyro.

<v Speaker 1>They blew the Pyro budget on this show tonight. I

<v Speaker 1>didn't mention that fatal Influence got Pyro after they won

<v Speaker 1>the Women's tag team. I'm convinced that every title change,

<v Speaker 1>curb stop and Brunson just very casually steps in front

<v Speaker 1>of Roman to be his shield from Seth Rollins. Rollins

<v Speaker 1>now is just eyeballing Brunson. He takes his jacket off.

<v Speaker 1>Rains though, comes flying in out of nowhere with a

<v Speaker 1>superman punch. Rollins leaves the ring and he's backing up

<v Speaker 1>the entrance with Halliburton.

<v Speaker 1>They look this like if you were to watch, you

<v Speaker 1>would swear that they were setting up a tag team match.

<v Speaker 1>And if this was another era of wrestling, this would

<v Speaker 1>be the headline match at SummerSlam. It would be Roman

<v Speaker 1>Reigns and Jalen Brunson wrestling Tyrese Haliburton and Seth Rollins.

<v Speaker 1>But they're actually not setting up a tag team man thankfully.

<v Speaker 1>But now we have a crew member again, perhaps Lard

<v Speaker 1>placing the Larry O'Brien Trophy. This is what the Stanley

<v Speaker 1>Cup is in the NHL, or the Lombardi Trophy is

<v Speaker 1>at the end of the Super Bowl, or the World

<v Speaker 1>Series Trophy presented in baseball, right, this is the crown

<v Speaker 1>jewel of the NBA, the championship trophy. They place it

<v Speaker 1>in the ring, and so Roman he takes Jalen Brunson's

<v Speaker 1>blue belt. He straps it around Brunson's waist and hands

<v Speaker 1>brunts in his belt to hold over his shoulder, and

<v Speaker 1>Brunson's like, go ahead, it's all yours. Roman reaches down

<v Speaker 1>and he picks up the championship trophy. As if this

<v Speaker 1>man hasn't held enough titles, let's give him some more.

<v Speaker 1>the Larry O'Brien trophy over his head. Now we get

<v Speaker 1>more pyro, more fucking piro. These two men got three

<v Speaker 1>different instances of Pyro in the same segment. So they

<v Speaker 1>shoot off more and they closed. They closed in the

<v Speaker 1>cheesiest way possible. They didn't just fade out here. The

<v Speaker 1>best way I could describe that, we got a still

<v Speaker 1>shot to close the show that they faded out from

<v Speaker 1>of Roman reigns and Jalen Brunson in the ring holding

<v Speaker 1>up their championships and the trophies and everything else. It

<v Speaker 1>almost looked like a postcard. And then that's how they

<v Speaker 1>went off the air. It was very, very hokey the

<v Speaker 1>way they close things out here. Look as far as

<v Speaker 1>this closing segment, it's going to be very polarizing and

<v Speaker 1>people are going to be like, what the hell was

<v Speaker 1>this doing on this show? This had no business being

<v Speaker 1>on this show. This ridiculous. They didn't close with the

<v Speaker 1>tag team match. This is what WWE is now. WWE

<v Speaker 1>tells you what is most important to them, and what

<v Speaker 1>is most important to them is when you're able to

<v Speaker 1>wrangle up a bunch of star athletes or celebrities from

<v Speaker 1>whatever whatever field they may be from, that will always

<v Speaker 1>take priority over everything else, because if they can use

<v Speaker 1>those people as a way to put more publicity on

<v Speaker 1>them and get those moments on those TV shows and

<v Speaker 1>on Sports Center and on all these websites and all

<v Speaker 1>these social media pages, then that's what they're going to do,

<v Speaker 1>and that's going to be the main event. That's going

<v Speaker 1>to be the most important thing on the show. I

<v Speaker 1>would say I would call it the TKO effect, But

<v Speaker 1>it's not like they weren't doing stuff like this before

<v Speaker 1>TKO came along. Like, you know, do you think Vince

<v Speaker 1>would have put this on at the beginning of the

<v Speaker 1>show like, no, they would have closed with this, but

<v Speaker 1>it is very much a TKO like segment. Ayah, I

<v Speaker 1>just think back to the Pat McAfee stuff from earlier

<v Speaker 1>this year. Oh my god, we got to get Pat

<v Speaker 1>McAfee involved here. Now we can have celebrity involvement in

<v Speaker 1>the main event of WrestleMania. So they decided, well, we

<v Speaker 1>can use the New York Knicks and have this celebrity

<v Speaker 1>of Halliburton was out there too, but you can have

<v Speaker 1>this celebrity involvement and we'll try to use it in

<v Speaker 1>a way that helps promote Roman Reigns against Seth Rollins,

<v Speaker 1>which is our main event, our big main event for summerslant.

<v Speaker 1>Not a terrible idea, but we didn't need fucking twenty

<v Speaker 1>plus minutes of it that we didn't need. This did

<v Speaker 1>not need to take up as much time as it did.

<v Speaker 1>I'm sure the fans of Madison Square Garden loved it.

<v Speaker 1>They were allowed for it. They loved seeing Kat earlier

<v Speaker 1>in the show. They love seeing Jalen Brunson. The man

<v Speaker 1>is he's a made man, you know, he's if they

<v Speaker 1>never win another championship, he's a made man for the

<v Speaker 1>rest of his life and they just won. So of

<v Speaker 1>course he was going to be greeted like a hero.

<v Speaker 1>Going to be greeted like Odysseus returning home. And that's great,

<v Speaker 1>But for the people watching at home on TV, it

<v Speaker 1>probably didn't have the same effect as it did for

<v Speaker 1>this segment? This is quite ridiculous. But at least they

<v Speaker 1>were able to weave Rollins and Roman in there, and

<v Speaker 1>the idea was okay. The execution was very weird. Seth

<v Speaker 1>Rollins was booked as the fucking heel. I mean, clearly

<v Speaker 1>Roman was the babyface and Seth was the heel, even

<v Speaker 1>though Roman is really a heel, but he's treated like

<v Speaker 1>a babyface and Rollins, who has been a babyface up

<v Speaker 1>to this point and everything comes across as the heel.

<v Speaker 1>So it was it was very bizarre. It was a

<v Speaker 1>very very uh strange dynamic there. But you had to

<v Speaker 1>know that them coming to Madison Square Garden, they were

<v Speaker 1>going to do stuff with the New York Knicks. You

<v Speaker 1>can't pretend like you didn't know that something like this

<v Speaker 1>wasn't gonna be coming. As soon as they said that

<v Speaker 1>Roman Reigns and Jalen Brunson were going to be together

<v Speaker 1>on the show, you knew something was going down with

<v Speaker 1>these two. It was exactly you know what you would

<v Speaker 1>expect WW to do. I mean, Jalen Brunson is a

<v Speaker 1>WWE fan. He's literally been on their television show before,

<v Speaker 1>except he wasn't a champion back then.

<v Speaker 2>Now he is.

<v Speaker 1>He's the toast of the town. You mean, we can

<v Speaker 1>get this guy on our show. We can get him

<v Speaker 1>on our show walking into Madison Square for the first

<v Speaker 1>time since his team won the championship. Oh, you know what.

<v Speaker 1>think we're probably better off putting another.

<v Speaker 1>nowailable for forty three dollars a year ago that wasn't happening,

<v Speaker 1>and the reason is because they're not selling as many tickets,

<v Speaker 1>and so they need to focus on that and figure

<v Speaker 1>out why that is. Because they have some big matches

<v Speaker 1>that have been announced for Summer Slam. It's not a

<v Speaker 1>bad card, but clearly they're not giving people everything that

<v Speaker 1>they would like to see. That coupled with high ticket prices,

<v Speaker 1>have twenty three thousand tickets out for each night of

<v Speaker 1>Summer Slam in a stadium that fits well more than

<v Speaker 1>double that. Focus on that you had your fun tonight

<v Speaker 1>with the Knicks and everything and all your celebrity Gaga bullshit.
