<v Speaker 1>world of Major League Baseball because we've seen a number

<v Speaker 1>of trades taking place right before that trade deadline, and

<v Speaker 1>we have a big move and it is going to

<v Speaker 1>have big effects coming on Saturday night, the already heavily

<v Speaker 1>favored Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Detroit Tiger's pitching ace Trek

<v Speaker 1>Scoogle to to their already stacked all star lineup. Hey,

<v Speaker 1>the Dodgers were telling everyone all along that they didn't

<v Speaker 1>need scooball. They already have Yoshi Yammoto, who is making

<v Speaker 1>a strong case for the cy Young on his own.

<v Speaker 1>They've got Blake Snell, They've got show. Hey, Otani, They've

<v Speaker 1>got Tyler glasnew and I realize they've been banged up.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, Snell has made just one start of this season,

<v Speaker 1>but he's expected to get back into the rotation very

<v Speaker 1>very soon. Glass Now has been out since May because

<v Speaker 1>of back spasms, but he's going into a minor league

<v Speaker 1>rehab assignment next week. And I know Otani has had

<v Speaker 1>that sore left knee that seems to bother him when

<v Speaker 1>he pitches, but they said earlier this week that they

<v Speaker 1>expect him for the postseason. So right now, yeah, say,

<v Speaker 1>Scooble is their top pitcher and if they were in

<v Speaker 1>a playoff series, he would be the starter in Game one.

<v Speaker 1>Here's my question for you today. Is any of this

<v Speaker 1>good for baseball? Of course not. It's terrible. The rich

<v Speaker 1>get richer, and if I'm being honest, there's no reason

<v Speaker 1>to watch baseball the rest of the season. But Dodgers

<v Speaker 1>are going to win the World Series. It'll be the

<v Speaker 1>third and to row it won't be close. Now is

<v Speaker 1>it their fault? No, But in a way they're going

<v Speaker 1>to end up paying for it, whether it's their fault

<v Speaker 1>or not, because baseball armageddon is coming, and when it

<v Speaker 1>gets here, remember this move because Major League Baseball and

<v Speaker 1>the Major League Baseball Players Association are currently in negotiations

<v Speaker 1>for a new collective bargaining agreement, with the existing five

<v Speaker 1>year agreement set to expire this December. And hey, the

<v Speaker 1>biggest bargaining chip in this whole thing in current talks

<v Speaker 1>is league's push for a hard salary cap. And I

<v Speaker 1>might add this a hard floor, a major change that

<v Speaker 1>the players union strongly opposes. Okay, so the Dodgers are

<v Speaker 1>going to win their third title in a row the season.

<v Speaker 1>But get this, they are not spending more than four

<v Speaker 1>hundred and thirty million dollars on player salaries. That is

<v Speaker 1>nearly sixty million dollars more than anyone else in the league. Now,

<v Speaker 1>does spending big money guarantee success? No, of course it doesn't.

<v Speaker 1>I mean the New York Mets and the Toronto Blue

<v Speaker 1>Jays are living proof. They're spending big money and they're

<v Speaker 1>not doing anything. But if there's no cap, what's gonna

<v Speaker 1>end the Dodgers run? They can just keep winning and

<v Speaker 1>winning and winning. And if you go back in Major

<v Speaker 1>League Baseball history, that is what you see, isn't it.

<v Speaker 1>We don't have a different team winning every year, like

<v Speaker 1>we do in the NFL, like we even do in

<v Speaker 1>the NBA. Are a little bit in the NHL. No,

<v Speaker 1>we have the same teams basically winning over and over

<v Speaker 1>and over and over and over and over again. How

<v Speaker 1>many titles have the Dodgers and the Yankees won? Like

<v Speaker 1>all of them? So there is literally no reason to

<v Speaker 1>watch baseball for the rest of the season. The Los

<v Speaker 1>Angeles Dodgers are better than every other team in the league,

<v Speaker 1>and it isn't even close. But here is my message.

<v Speaker 1>Enjoy this final season of Major League baseball because unless

<v Speaker 1>the players cave on this, it's not going to come

<v Speaker 1>back anytime soon. It's going to be ugly, and I

<v Speaker 1>can fully see major League Baseball taking at least a

<v Speaker 1>year completely off. Hey, today, I'm the dost. Do you

<v Speaker 1>realize that the NFL Hall of Fame Game is taking

<v Speaker 1>place tomorrow night? Is it a terrible game? Yes, of

<v Speaker 1>course it is. We're going to have the Carolina Panthers

<v Speaker 1>versus the Arizona Cardinals. Will it be even worse because

<v Speaker 1>it is in the preseason? Yes, obviously, but it is

<v Speaker 1>a reminder that football is coming. Hey, the NFL regular

<v Speaker 1>season opener, a rematch by the way of Super Bowl

<v Speaker 1>sixty between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. Yeah,

<v Speaker 1>that's just thirty five days away. The first week of

<v Speaker 1>college football is now just twenty four days away. Hey,

<v Speaker 1>the football season is coming quickly, and we just might

<v Speaker 1>need a quick refresh on some offseason moves that you

<v Speaker 1>might have missed or maybe you forgot about. Never fear,

<v Speaker 1>we'll get you caught up. Plus whip that Hall of

<v Speaker 1>Fame game being played tomorrow night. Of course, the Pro

<v Speaker 1>Football Hall of Fame itself will be a popular spot

<v Speaker 1>this weekend. Our dearly dose Top five will bring you

<v Speaker 1>some memorable moments from those hallowed halls. But first little

<v Speaker 1>bit of news that we have to mention today, and

<v Speaker 1>that comes out of the WNBA. And I know when

<v Speaker 1>I say that, you're thinking, Clint, You're just gonna go

<v Speaker 1>to a break. I'm not because the WNBA just keeps

<v Speaker 1>shooting itself in the foot, Although in true WNBA fashion,

<v Speaker 1>I'm sure if they were going to shoot themselves on

<v Speaker 1>the foot, they'd miss How dare you? Last week, the

<v Speaker 1>official w NBA social media account posted a video of

<v Speaker 1>stars Page Beckers and Angel Reese betting four hundred dollars

<v Speaker 1>on their game against each other, as Becker's Dallas Wings

<v Speaker 1>were set to face Reese's Atlanta Dream and Reese flashed

<v Speaker 1>the cash as the duo made a friendly wager during

<v Speaker 1>All Star weekend. Well, the WNBA has sense to lead

<v Speaker 1>to the post, but then faced back for both posting

<v Speaker 1>it in the first place and then also deleting it.

<v Speaker 1>The league has since announced that neither player will be

<v Speaker 1>disciplined for this, despite the fact that the league's collective

<v Speaker 1>bargaining agreement does actually prohibit players betting on league games. Now,

<v Speaker 1>I want you to keep one thing in mind. Remember

<v Speaker 1>that if you are caught in the NFL betting on

<v Speaker 1>your own team betting on NFL games, you are suspended

<v Speaker 1>for two seasons. The WNBA is so completely tone deaf. See,

<v Speaker 1>here's the thing. If you want to be taken seriously

<v Speaker 1>as a league, you have to start acting like a

<v Speaker 1>serious league. You can't be betting on your own games.

<v Speaker 1>I don't know, it just might lend itself to the

<v Speaker 1>manipulation of games and maybe their outcomes. And I realize

<v Speaker 1>that it would be almost impossible to tell which players

<v Speaker 1>in the WNBA are actually shaving points because every game

<v Speaker 1>looks like players are on the take, but you just

<v Speaker 1>can't cast this shadow of a doubt on your own league.

<v Speaker 1>Here's my honest question. At what point does the NBA,

<v Speaker 1>who completely financially supports the WNBA, Remember the WNBA doesn't

<v Speaker 1>make a dime, the NBA pays for it. At what

<v Speaker 1>point does the NBA have to start saying, look, we

<v Speaker 1>know you don't make any money. We realize that we

<v Speaker 1>just financed this garbage league as a charity out of

<v Speaker 1>the goodness of our own hearts, but can you please

<v Speaker 1>just stop scuttling your own ship. So the college football

<v Speaker 1>and NFL seasons are coming quickly, but as is the norm,

<v Speaker 1>we have coaches and we have players that have jumped

<v Speaker 1>all over the place that you might have either forgotten

<v Speaker 1>about or maybe missed well. Today on the dose, we

<v Speaker 1>are going to be taking you on a very quick

<v Speaker 1>barnstorming tour of some very familiar faces that are now

<v Speaker 1>going to be in some brand new places. Remember, as

<v Speaker 1>the great comedian Jerry Seinfeld said, we don't really cheer

<v Speaker 1>for teams. We cheer for laundry. Buckle up, here we go.

<v Speaker 1>We're going to start off in college football and we're

<v Speaker 1>going to start off in the coaching ranks after twenty

<v Speaker 1>two years at the University of Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham.

<v Speaker 1>Yet he has moved on, and he bizarrely has taken

<v Speaker 1>the University of Michigan job after the Wolverines had to

<v Speaker 1>fire Sharon Moore last December, after that tumultuous run that

<v Speaker 1>began under that weird shadow of Jim Harba's departure and

<v Speaker 1>then ended with Sharon Moore having an affair, breaking an entering,

<v Speaker 1>getting arrested, being charged criminally. Remember all that stuff. Well,

<v Speaker 1>Whittingham was brought into ann Arbor to clean things up. Hey,

<v Speaker 1>it won't be easy because that com difference is stacked.

<v Speaker 1>Now he does get quarterback Bryce Underwood, who is very talented,

<v Speaker 1>but the offensive line will have to get up to

<v Speaker 1>speed quickly, and that schedule won't be easy. Michigan has

<v Speaker 1>trips to Oklahoma, Nebraska, and USC, plus they will host

<v Speaker 1>Ohio State and Washington. Hey, Kyle Whittingham is going to

<v Speaker 1>have his work cut out for him. We'll see how

<v Speaker 1>he does in Michigan. But it wasn't just Whittingham that

<v Speaker 1>left after a long State Matt Campbell was at Toledo

<v Speaker 1>for five years, but has now been at Iowa State

<v Speaker 1>for the past decade, and he actually had the Cyclones

<v Speaker 1>in Bowl games in seven of those ten years. We'll

<v Speaker 1>remember Matt Campbell is now in Happy Valley, where the

<v Speaker 1>expectations at Penn State are going to be way higher

<v Speaker 1>than any he ever faced in ames Iowa. Now, I

<v Speaker 1>know everyone thought James Franklin couldn't coach. He's doing something right.

<v Speaker 1>He's getting some really good players if nothing, and I

<v Speaker 1>realized Penn State wasn't winning big games. But we'll see

<v Speaker 1>if Campbell can't do any better than Franklin did next

<v Speaker 1>up after he played and coached at Northwestern. It's going

<v Speaker 1>to be a little bit strange to see Pat Fitzgerald

<v Speaker 1>in any color other than purple. But remember that Pat

<v Speaker 1>is now in East Lansing and is going to be

<v Speaker 1>coaching the Michigan State Spartans this season after that whole

<v Speaker 1>Mel Tucker Jonathan Smith fiasco. Now I'll be a little

<v Speaker 1>bit surprised if Sparti wins a much of anything this year.

<v Speaker 1>That cover looks like it's mostly bear, but I'll bet this.

<v Speaker 1>I'll bet Michigan State is going to be tougher on

<v Speaker 1>both sides of the ball, because that's just how Pat

<v Speaker 1>Fitzgerald coaches. I'll bet they upgrade quite a bit. But

<v Speaker 1>of course, probably the biggest name in college football coaching

<v Speaker 1>that has moved around took place last season before Ole

<v Speaker 1>Miss played their bowl game, and that of course, is

<v Speaker 1>Lane Kiffen, who took the LSU gig late last November

<v Speaker 1>while oh Miss was getting ready to play in the

<v Speaker 1>playoff game, which, by the way, they won and advanced

<v Speaker 1>one again and advanced before losing. Well, Kiffen moved on

<v Speaker 1>to Louisiana State. Kiffen is a greasy snake, we all

<v Speaker 1>know it, but make no mistake, he has been good

<v Speaker 1>everywhere he's been. I fully expect Lane Kiffen to have

<v Speaker 1>LSU in that National Contender conversation. Oh but I can't

<v Speaker 1>wait to see how he's treated on September nineteenth when

<v Speaker 1>he takes those LS Tigers back to Oxford to face

<v Speaker 1>his former team. Oh, that is going to be must

<v Speaker 1>see TV for sure. Okay, but it isn't just the coaches. Obviously.

<v Speaker 1>With the non existent transfer rules that we have now

<v Speaker 1>in college football, players just jump all over the place

<v Speaker 1>whenever they feel like it, and this year we have

<v Speaker 1>a number of big name players that are going to

<v Speaker 1>be wearing different laundry. Like we said, we don't really

<v Speaker 1>cheer for our teams, we cheer for laundry. Well, we

<v Speaker 1>started for a quarterback that is now at his third

<v Speaker 1>school in four years because after starting at Michigan State,

<v Speaker 1>quarterback Sam Levitt went to Arizona State, where he had

<v Speaker 1>two productive seasons in Tempe. Well, Levitt has now joined

<v Speaker 1>forces with Blane Kiffin. Levitt is set to be the

<v Speaker 1>starter for the LSU Tigers this year. Like I talked about,

<v Speaker 1>I expect Lane Kiffin to do well at LSU. Is

<v Speaker 1>Levitt going to be the guy to lead LSU into

<v Speaker 1>national contention? He just might be. I don't know, but

<v Speaker 1>it's going to be interesting to watch, you know. I'll

<v Speaker 1>be completely honest. When I heard that Patrick Mahomes want

<v Speaker 1>to be Dylan Royola was transferring out of Nebraska, I

<v Speaker 1>fully expected him to go to Texas Tech. I'm gonna

<v Speaker 1>go to Texas Tech. I'm gonna start walking and talking

<v Speaker 1>and acting even more like Patrick Mahomes. But no, that's

<v Speaker 1>not what happened. Rayola will be in Eugene, Oregon this year,

<v Speaker 1>where a very talented Oregon Duck squad will be counting

<v Speaker 1>on him kind of. I mean, they'll be counting on

<v Speaker 1>him to be a dependable backup because remember they have

<v Speaker 1>started Dante Moore. Dante Moore is really good. This Ducks

<v Speaker 1>team should be really good, and Moore is probably going

<v Speaker 1>to be in the conversation for the Heisman. So I'm

<v Speaker 1>not sure Raye will will even see the field, but

<v Speaker 1>he probably will be the biggest named backup in the

<v Speaker 1>entire country. And then maybe he'll wait it out and

<v Speaker 1>see what happens after this year. Oregon's gonna be good,

<v Speaker 1>but I don't think Rayo is gonna have much to

<v Speaker 1>do with it. You know. Quarterback Darien Mensa is also

<v Speaker 1>at his third school in three years. Mensa started at Tulane.

<v Speaker 1>Did ok then? Was that duke last year posted respectable

<v Speaker 1>numbers there. This year, he'll be joining Mario Christobal in

<v Speaker 1>Miami and playing for the Hurricanes. Now, remember Miami's run

<v Speaker 1>the College Football National Championship last year was amazing, but

<v Speaker 1>also remember they didn't win. In fact, they didn't even

<v Speaker 1>play in their own ACC championship game last year, and

<v Speaker 1>in twenty four seasons of being in the ACC, Miami

<v Speaker 1>still hasn't won the conference. Can Mensa get them there

<v Speaker 1>this year? Well, that won't be a layup because while

<v Speaker 1>Miami is amazing and we know they've got that incredible

<v Speaker 1>wide receiver talent in mal Chai TONI also remember Miami

<v Speaker 1>had to replace pretty much their entire offensive a defensive line.

<v Speaker 1>Remember the NFL Draft. Yeah, there are a lot of

<v Speaker 1>Hurricanes that got called. Can Mensa over all that and

<v Speaker 1>have Miami backham the national conversation this year? We'll see

<v Speaker 1>Finally we have quarterback Josh Hoover, who has been playing

<v Speaker 1>for Sunny Dykes the pass four years at Texas Christian.

<v Speaker 1>In fact, Hoover racked up seventy one touchdowns and nearly

<v Speaker 1>ten thousand yards throwing for the horn Frogs. Well, he

<v Speaker 1>entered the transfer portal as a red shirt senior, and

<v Speaker 1>he was scooped up immediately by defending national champion, those

<v Speaker 1>Indiana Hoosiers. So while the Hoosiers will no longer have

<v Speaker 1>quarterback Fernando Mendoza yet Chris Signetti will still have a

<v Speaker 1>veteran quarterback under center. Oh and by the way, the

<v Speaker 1>Hoosiers also grabbed one of the top wide receivers in

<v Speaker 1>Nick marsh who is transferring in for Michigan State. Hey,

<v Speaker 1>Indiana is still going to be very good this year.

<v Speaker 1>I don't know if they'll be as good as last year,

<v Speaker 1>but they're still going to be very good. But let's

<v Speaker 1>move over to the NFL, where we also have a

<v Speaker 1>number of players that are going to be wearing, like

<v Speaker 1>I said, different laundry. Of course, it took place in June,

<v Speaker 1>so we probably all remember that the Cleveland Browns swap

<v Speaker 1>pass rusher Garrett Miles to the Los Angeles Rams and

<v Speaker 1>the Rams set young pass rusher Jerry versus Cleveland. Okay,

<v Speaker 1>so that one is at least fresh. But did you

<v Speaker 1>remember that longtime Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans

<v Speaker 1>will no longer be in Tampa because after twelve years

<v Speaker 1>with the Buccaneers, Evans is now a member of the

<v Speaker 1>San Francisco forty nine ers. There's no question the Niners

<v Speaker 1>need more production from their wide receivers. It was just

<v Speaker 1>announced that Ricky Pearsol is already done for the year,

<v Speaker 1>and Deepo Samuel is back, but he's thirty. Brandon Iyup

<v Speaker 1>never seems to be healthy. Can Mike Evans stay healthy

<v Speaker 1>in the land of electromagnetic currents. We'll see after seven

<v Speaker 1>years in Arizona, will Kyler Murray is now a member

<v Speaker 1>of the Minnesota Vikings, and it kind of looks like

<v Speaker 1>Murray is gonna end up being a starter. Remember JJ

<v Speaker 1>mc carthy was dreadful last year when he got his shot.

<v Speaker 1>Third stringer Carson Wentz has no business on an NFL field,

<v Speaker 1>so I actually think this will be Murray's job to lose.

<v Speaker 1>Now there is no call of duty games scheduled for release,

<v Speaker 1>so I think the little guy out to be okay.

<v Speaker 1>And remember he will have some weapons to throw you.

<v Speaker 1>Aaron joneson backfield, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, TJ. Hockinson. Hey,

<v Speaker 1>if Kyler Murray can't succeed in Minnesota, I don't know

<v Speaker 1>if he can succeed anywhere. Pied are splitting time in

<v Speaker 1>the Detroit Lions offensive backfield, but Jamiir Gibbs David Montgomery

<v Speaker 1>will now have the job to himself in Houston, as

<v Speaker 1>he will be running back number one with the Houston Texans.

<v Speaker 1>Then the Lions wanted a backup for Gibbs, and they

<v Speaker 1>got one. They grabbed former Kansas City runner Isaiah Pachecko. Yes,

<v Speaker 1>I realized. Pachecka runs like a little kid, showing you

<v Speaker 1>how his brand new shoes make him faster. And he

<v Speaker 1>didn't have a great year this last year. We'll see

<v Speaker 1>if he can rally his career and end up being

<v Speaker 1>a good pickup for those Detroit Lions after having the

<v Speaker 1>most successful season in his career, at least in terms

<v Speaker 1>of wins and losses. Former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis

<v Speaker 1>Etn is now in New Orleans with the Saints, and

<v Speaker 1>you know, the Jags might end up missing Etn. He

<v Speaker 1>scored thirty two touchdowns in his four seasons there, and honestly,

<v Speaker 1>Etn might end up wishing he'd stayed. Jacksonville looks like

<v Speaker 1>a way better situation. The Saints have some serious work

<v Speaker 1>to do. Of course, we all remember the Baltimore Ravens

<v Speaker 1>Max Crosby fiasco this passed offseason. The Ravens had agreed

<v Speaker 1>to trade four Crosby in exchange for their first round

<v Speaker 1>selections in twenty twenty six and twenty twenty seven. However,

<v Speaker 1>just three days later, the Ravens backed out of the

<v Speaker 1>agreement after Crosby failed his physical and then instead announced

<v Speaker 1>a deal for former Cincinnati Bengals player Trey Hendrickson. Now,

<v Speaker 1>Hendrickson has been in Cincinnati the past five seasons, he

<v Speaker 1>will not be facing his former team twice a year

<v Speaker 1>as a member of the Ravens. Since being drafted by

<v Speaker 1>the Kansas City Chiefs out of the University of Washington

<v Speaker 1>in twenty twenty two, quarnerback Trent McDuffie has been one

<v Speaker 1>of the top corners in the league, and he was

<v Speaker 1>named a first team All Pro in twenty twenty three,

<v Speaker 1>but the Chiefs decided to trade McDuffie to the Los

<v Speaker 1>Angeles Rams because they wanted to avoid having to sign

<v Speaker 1>him to a massive contract when his rookie deal was up.

<v Speaker 1>Now will that lost hurt the Chiefs? I would think

<v Speaker 1>it has to. But the Rams really upgraded their defense,

<v Speaker 1>and their defense wasn't bad last year. Finally we arrive

<v Speaker 1>at a quarterback that, for being so young, he's already

<v Speaker 1>bounced around a lot. When Justin Fields came out of

<v Speaker 1>Ohio State, everyone thought he just might be a great

<v Speaker 1>franchise quarterback that hasn't panned out. Field struggled in Chicago.

<v Speaker 1>He went ten to twenty eight as a starter, didn't

<v Speaker 1>have much help. Then he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers,

<v Speaker 1>but he mostly served as a backup to Russell Wilson,

<v Speaker 1>which says a lot. Last year, he was a starter

<v Speaker 1>with the New York Jets, but he was one of

<v Speaker 1>the worst quarterbacks in the league. He went two and seven.

<v Speaker 1>He averaged just one hundred and thirty nine yards passing

<v Speaker 1>per game. Well, this year, Justin Fields signed with the

<v Speaker 1>Kansas City Chiefs. He is the backup for Patrick Mahomes. Now,

<v Speaker 1>obviously that sounds like a job with no future in it,

<v Speaker 1>but remember Mahomes is coming off with that knee injury.

<v Speaker 1>Will he be able to return fully to his pre

<v Speaker 1>injury form or could Justin Fields end up playing in

<v Speaker 1>some very very important games. Now, as we do so

<v Speaker 1>many weeks here from daily dose, we need to get

<v Speaker 1>over to our daily dose top five. Like I said earlier,

<v Speaker 1>the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game will be taking

<v Speaker 1>place tomorrow night in Canton, Ohio, as the Carolina Panthers

<v Speaker 1>will be facing the Arizona Cardinal in the opening preseason

<v Speaker 1>game of the twenty twenty six NFL season. Then on

<v Speaker 1>Saturday night, the twenty twenty six Hall of Fame class

<v Speaker 1>will be officially inducted into the hollowd Halls. Quarterback Drew Brees,

<v Speaker 1>wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, linebacker Luke Keickley, kicker Adam Vinattieri,

<v Speaker 1>and running back Roger Craig will get their gold jackets

<v Speaker 1>and unvailables bronze busts among the best to ever play

<v Speaker 1>the game. Now, the Hall of Fame opened nearly seventy

<v Speaker 1>years ago and it now has nearly four hundred members Enshrine. Today,

<v Speaker 1>our daily dose Top five is counting down five of

<v Speaker 1>the most memorable and most impactful moments in Hall of

<v Speaker 1>Fame history. We start off at number five, Wow, and

<v Speaker 1>we get to a pivotal point in the history of

<v Speaker 1>the Hall of Fame because, in addition to the bus

<v Speaker 1>it's memorable, it's impactful, and it comes in to day.

<v Speaker 1>At number five, we moved next to number four, and

<v Speaker 1>in nineteen sixty six we had a massive change to

<v Speaker 1>the National Football League as well as to the Pro

<v Speaker 1>Football Hall of Fame following its inception in nineteen twenty.

<v Speaker 1>The NFL had dealt with several rival leagues. Let's say,

<v Speaker 1>before nineteen sixty, the biggest rival was the All American

<v Speaker 1>Football Conference the AAFC, which began play back in the forties.

<v Speaker 1>But by nineteen sixty, the NFL was facing its biggest

<v Speaker 1>rival so far because the American Football League had eight franchises.

<v Speaker 1>The Boston Patriots, the Buffalo Bills, the Titans of New York,

<v Speaker 1>the Houston Oilers, the Denver Broncos, the Dallas Texans, the

<v Speaker 1>Oakland Raiders, and the Los Angeles Chargers were not only

<v Speaker 1>signing players from smaller colleges than even black colleges, they

<v Speaker 1>were playing a wide open, high scoring style that was

<v Speaker 1>big with fans, and in nineteen sixty six, the NFL

<v Speaker 1>had to admit, Hey, the AFL has something going. So

<v Speaker 1>the two leagues would combine to four, an expanded league

<v Speaker 1>with twenty four teams, which would be increased to twenty

<v Speaker 1>six in nineteen sixty nine and to twenty eight by

<v Speaker 1>nineteen seventy. And the Pro Football Hall of Fame actually

<v Speaker 1>has on display a pen used by then President Lyndon B.

<v Speaker 1>Johnson to sign legislation allowing the formal merger of the

<v Speaker 1>two former rivals, the American Football League and the National

<v Speaker 1>Football League combined, giving birth to the present day NFL.

<v Speaker 1>Those two leagues joining up come in today on our

<v Speaker 1>list at number four. We arrive at number three, and

<v Speaker 1>not everything on our list today is, let's say, of

<v Speaker 1>a positive nature. Because the Hall of Fame game itself

<v Speaker 1>has been played in all but three years since the sixties.

<v Speaker 1>In sixty six they needed to even schedule a game,

<v Speaker 1>probably because the nfl AF merger. In twenty eleven, there

<v Speaker 1>was no game because there was a player lockout. But

<v Speaker 1>in twenty sixteen it was for a way weirder reason

<v Speaker 1>because the Indianapolis Cults and the Green Bay Packers were

<v Speaker 1>set to play on Sunday, August seventh, but it had

<v Speaker 1>been raining in Canton for a few days prior to kickoff.

<v Speaker 1>That didn't help. But then country music star Tim McGraw

<v Speaker 1>had a concert and the field got tore up. Okay,

<v Speaker 1>so they tried to repaint the field, but it was

<v Speaker 1>so wet they couldn't get it to dry. So the

<v Speaker 1>NFL decided, let's try this. We're gonna bring out heaters

<v Speaker 1>to drive a field. Well, that actually melted the turf

<v Speaker 1>into a big goo. The field melted into like a

<v Speaker 1>hard cement like surface, and there were player safety issues.

<v Speaker 1>But here's what's worse. The NFL wasn't on top of it.

<v Speaker 1>The grounds crew tried to put a paint binner on,

<v Speaker 1>but the paint binner base said would burn your skin. Okay,

<v Speaker 1>this is unplayable. We can't do this, but the league

<v Speaker 1>didn't tell anyone, so they actually had to cancel the

<v Speaker 1>game while fans were at the stadium. Fans sitting in

<v Speaker 1>their seats found out on social media while waiting for

<v Speaker 1>the game to kick off, and they were not happy.

<v Speaker 1>The NFL offered full refunds to anyone who actually bought

<v Speaker 1>a ticket, but the damage had been done. The NFL

<v Speaker 1>Hall of Fame Game in twenty sixteen was a massive mess.

<v Speaker 1>It had to be canceled, and it basically had to

<v Speaker 1>be canceled for a really dumb reason. And that comes

<v Speaker 1>in today on our list at number three. We reached

<v Speaker 1>number two, and while the AFL NFL merger had taken

<v Speaker 1>place in nineteen sixty six, the next season, the Hall

<v Speaker 1>of Fame Game had an even bigger event take place.

<v Speaker 1>As insane as that sounds because he went by the

<v Speaker 1>nickname the Gremlin, but Emlin Toell was a very impressive player.

<v Speaker 1>He was also a very impressive person. Born and raised

<v Speaker 1>in the Philadelphia area, to now played college football for

<v Speaker 1>the Toledo Rockets. Then he played for the San Francisco

<v Speaker 1>Coastguard and many play for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also

<v Speaker 1>served in the US Coast Guard from forty three to

<v Speaker 1>forty six. He received the Silver Life Saving Medal for

<v Speaker 1>heroism in rescuing a sheep mate from flames to nineteen

<v Speaker 1>forty four. He also rescued another shipmate who fell into

<v Speaker 1>the sea in forty six. Well To now played fourteen

<v Speaker 1>seasons in the NFL as a safety and a return

<v Speaker 1>specialist for the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers.

<v Speaker 1>He was selected as a first team All Pro six times.

<v Speaker 1>He played in nine Pro Bowls. He was a member

<v Speaker 1>of NFL championship teams in both fifty six and sixty one,

<v Speaker 1>and when he retired as a player, he held NFL

<v Speaker 1>career records for interceptions, interception return yards, part returns, and

<v Speaker 1>punt return yards. Well In sixty seven, Emmlintonelle became the

<v Speaker 1>Hall's first black inductee. Hey, it was a well deserved

<v Speaker 1>honor and it paved the way for so many future

<v Speaker 1>members that came later. Emlintonell's induction into the Hall of

<v Speaker 1>Fame comes in today on our list at number two.

<v Speaker 1>So we reached the number one memorable or impactful moment

<v Speaker 1>in Pro Football Hall of Fame history, And where else

<v Speaker 1>can we go? We got to go back to the start.

<v Speaker 1>The city of Canton, Ohio successfully lobbied the NFL to

<v Speaker 1>have the Hall of Fame built there in Canton for

<v Speaker 1>three reasons. One, the NFL was actually founded in Canton

<v Speaker 1>back in nineteen twenty two, the defunct Canton Bulldogs were

<v Speaker 1>a successful pro football team, and they were the NFL's

<v Speaker 1>first back to back champion in twenty two and twenty three.

<v Speaker 1>And lastly, the Canton community held a fundraising effort that

<v Speaker 1>garnered nearly four hundred thousand dollars to get the Hall

<v Speaker 1>of Fame bill think of four hundred grand back then.

<v Speaker 1>Groundbreaking for the building was started back in August of

<v Speaker 1>sixty two, and the Hall of Fame was opened to

<v Speaker 1>the public in September of sixty three. The Pro Football

<v Speaker 1>Hall FA includes players, coaches, donors, and contributors which could

<v Speaker 1>be owners, general managers, team or league officials or non

<v Speaker 1>players who have made contributions to professional football, and the

<v Speaker 1>charter class of seventeen was actually selected in nineteen sixty three.

<v Speaker 1>The very first class in Chinese are selected by a

<v Speaker 1>forty eight person selection committee which meets every year right

<v Speaker 1>around the Super Bowl, and the rules of the committee

<v Speaker 1>stipulate that between four and eight individuals should be selected

<v Speaker 1>each year. The founding of the Pro Football Hall of

<v Speaker 1>Fame itself comes in today on our list at number one. Hey,
