<v Speaker 2>old tomb was found during excavations at the ancient city

<v Speaker 2>of Aspendos in southwest Turkey. According to Live Science, inside

<v Speaker 2>the stone cold tomb to this person knew what they

<v Speaker 2>were doing when they wrote this. Researchers discovered one skeleton

<v Speaker 2>alongside silver coin showing wrestlers. The grave dates from between

<v Speaker 2>roughly four to seventy five and three hundred BC, placing

<v Speaker 2>it within the city's classical period. Turkey's Culture and Tourism

<v Speaker 2>Minister said the coins and other objects suggest the person

<v Speaker 2>may have been involved in sports, perhaps even a wrestler.

<v Speaker 2>very young. Zilla is only twenty six years old. He's

<v Speaker 2>been wrestling for about three years now, maybe a little

<v Speaker 2>bit longer. I've had a front row seat to see

<v Speaker 2>his progression in the ring. I see, you know how

<v Speaker 2>he's come along as a wrestler. Behind the scenes, he's

<v Speaker 2>always been nothing but kind and respectful. You know, whatever

<v Speaker 2>stories may be out there about him and other promotions,

<v Speaker 2>I've never.

<v Speaker 1>Seen that before.

<v Speaker 2>And I think if he keeps his head on straight,

<v Speaker 2>he's going to have a lot of success there because,

<v Speaker 2>like Jacob, he's got that background where you know, he

<v Speaker 2>spent time behind bars. He spent six years of his life,

<v Speaker 2>a good chunk of his teenage years in the Texas

<v Speaker 2>State Penitentiary. Yeah, we hear the ustos talk about the

<v Speaker 2>USO Penitentiary. Well that's for wrestling promos. This was real Okay,

<v Speaker 2>this is real life. But he got himself straight. He

<v Speaker 2>chose to pursue the same path that his father did,

<v Speaker 2>just like Jacob. So there's a lot of similarities between

<v Speaker 2>the two as far as their back rounds go, and

<v Speaker 2>it makes for a good story. I liked that they

<v Speaker 2>debuted him in NXT. There were people going into SummerSlam

<v Speaker 2>who were like, oh, well, Lozilla's going to debut at

<v Speaker 2>the end of the Roman Reign seth Rollins match, and

<v Speaker 2>I kind of bit my lip because I knew. I

<v Speaker 2>knew that wasn't happening. I didn't want to come out

<v Speaker 2>and say anything, but I knew that wasn't happening. But

<v Speaker 2>there were people who were expecting him to go to

<v Speaker 2>the main roster and be plugged right into the bloodline

<v Speaker 2>stuff right away, and I think that would have been

<v Speaker 2>a mistake. I like that they debuted him in NXT.

<v Speaker 2>Let him get spread his wings, so to speak, make

<v Speaker 2>a name for himself in NXT, win the NXT Championship,

<v Speaker 2>whether it's this month or six months from now, whatever.

<v Speaker 1>It may be.

<v Speaker 2>Let him breathe a little bit down there, let him

<v Speaker 2>establish himself down there. So the same way I felt

<v Speaker 2>about Santana in that let him be a big fish

<v Speaker 2>in a smaller pond until they have a spot ready

<v Speaker 2>for them on the main roster. Obviously, Zilla has the

<v Speaker 2>benefit of being part of the blood line, so anytime

<v Speaker 2>they want to, they can just plug him into that story.

<v Speaker 2>There's no immediacy to it. You can plug him in

<v Speaker 2>a month, you could plug him in a year. The

<v Speaker 2>bloodline will always be there. Believe me, the blood line

<v Speaker 2>enthusiastic about running the Bloodline stuff back again, not without

<v Speaker 2>some major changes being made. They did Jacob against Roman twice,

<v Speaker 2>and Jacob lost both those matches and he fell in line.

<v Speaker 2>They cooled him off. He doesn't feel as big of

<v Speaker 2>a deal as he did six months ago. Hopefully the

<v Speaker 2>long term vision is there where he takes roman spot

<v Speaker 2>from him. When Roman ultimately drops the World heavyweight title

<v Speaker 2>and he disappears, I could see zillah As put it

<v Speaker 2>this way. I could see Zilla to Jacob as Solo

<v Speaker 2>was to Roman, and I think that would be a

<v Speaker 2>good spot for him to be in with Fatu leading

<v Speaker 2>a silver platter, serve him up to the tribal chief

<v Speaker 2>so that he can fall in line just like Jacob did.

<v Speaker 2>until we're done with this Lucha tournament. When that's over,

<v Speaker 2>Bank sounds about right. But the prevailing fan theory is

<v Speaker 2>that maybe in that match, Solo screws over Roman and

<v Speaker 2>he helps La Knight win the championship. That sounds great.

<v Speaker 2>would be fantastic. I also don't believe they are putting

<v Speaker 2>the World Heavyweight Championship on La Night.

<v Speaker 2>full schedule through the end of October. He's working a

<v Speaker 2>lot of dates, twenty of them in total, not including

<v Speaker 2>the NXT show that he worked last night in Petersburg, Virginia.

<v Speaker 2>That includes a handful of live events as well on

<v Speaker 2>the upcoming Mexico tour. So Punk is going to be

<v Speaker 2>working all of those dates. You couple that with WWE

<v Speaker 2>having just announced seven house shows as part of its

<v Speaker 2>road to Survivor series Wargames Tour their eight day European

<v Speaker 2>tour that they previously announced for January leading up to

<v Speaker 2>the Royal Rumble, and Brian Alvarez is reporting that they

<v Speaker 2>plan to add December house show dates as well. So

<v Speaker 2>house shows are back, baby, not at the rate they

<v Speaker 2>used to be, but that's okay. They've been increasing the

<v Speaker 2>number of live events after severely cutting back on them.

<v Speaker 2>fans because again, it could be fun to go to

<v Speaker 2>a live event. There are fans who get shut out

<v Speaker 2>of the plees and the TVs. The tickets are very expensive.

<v Speaker 2>that people can go to the live events, that's good

<v Speaker 2>for the fans, but it's good for the talent. It's

<v Speaker 2>all In, leading some people to speculate that she was

<v Speaker 2>teasing an appearance at aw All in which she would

<v Speaker 2>not contractually be able to do. For wressel votes on frightful, frightful,

<v Speaker 2>fight full Select, fight full select, cat even speak fight

<v Speaker 2>full Select. The video did not land well with everyone

<v Speaker 2>in WWE, noting that the post was viewed by some

<v Speaker 2>backstage as eyebrow raising. Oh no, she posted a video

<v Speaker 2>their attention. Are people really upset about this? Are you

<v Speaker 2>getting into backstage fights to now getting heat or raising

<v Speaker 2>eyebrows because they posted a video of themselves training on

<v Speaker 2>social media. How soft these people have gone? Give me

<v Speaker 2>a break? Find something else to bitch about. Yeah, this

<v Speaker 2>talk that her deal may not be up until January,

<v Speaker 2>and even then, WWE reserved the right to tack on

<v Speaker 2>injury time, which they will absolutely do if they think

<v Speaker 2>she's leaving to go to AAW But either way, she

<v Speaker 2>will not be at all in or wrestle dream or

<v Speaker 2>anywhere else in AAW until she's free and clear. And

<v Speaker 2>I still think that is where she ends up. SmackDown

<v Speaker 2>on Friday night, a bunch of things happened, including off

<v Speaker 2>the air.

<v Speaker 2>The main thing I was looking forward to, though, ended

<v Speaker 2>up being the second best thing on the show, which

<v Speaker 2>was the CM punk Kevin Owens face to face ring.

<v Speaker 2>We have a week to go now, less than a

<v Speaker 2>week before their WWE title match in Toronto on SmackDown

<v Speaker 2>that's coming up this Friday. So this was their last

<v Speaker 2>chance to come face to face and whatever it is

<v Speaker 2>they want to get off their chest, say what's on

<v Speaker 2>your mind, speak your mind, speak your truth. And so

<v Speaker 2>Kevin Owens took the opportunity to tell a little story.

<v Speaker 2>It's story time with Ko and he took us back

<v Speaker 2>in time twenty years to the Ring of Honor Locker

<v Speaker 2>room in two thousand and five. It's the same story

<v Speaker 2>I told you guys a few weeks ago. I know,

<v Speaker 2>I talked about it on TNT a few weeks ago,

<v Speaker 2>and without getting into all the details, this was the

<v Speaker 2>infamous T shirt story where Owen. Now, I hope I'm

<v Speaker 2>not getting my details wrong. Owens typically wrestled in a

<v Speaker 2>T shirt, and I think on this particular now, he

<v Speaker 2>was still very new and he was trying to make

<v Speaker 2>a good impression. Somehow, I think it had gotten back

<v Speaker 2>to see I'm Punk, and maybe Punk didn't like the

<v Speaker 2>fact that he worked in a T shirt. So I

<v Speaker 2>think that night he worked without a shirt on and

<v Speaker 2>he came to the back. And again, I apologize if

<v Speaker 2>I'm getting the minute details of this mixed up, but

<v Speaker 2>I think that's what happened, because when he came back

<v Speaker 2>to the locker room, Punk was there and he made

<v Speaker 2>a comment to Punk. He saw Punk and he said,

<v Speaker 2>I hope you're happy now. Now he claims that it

<v Speaker 2>was just in jest. I could see or if this guy,

<v Speaker 2>this kid, this nobody had come to the back and

<v Speaker 2>was like, I hope you're happy now, yeah, or maybe

<v Speaker 2>the veteran guy would take that the wrong way. He

<v Speaker 2>insists that it was not meant to be disrespectful, it

<v Speaker 2>was not meant to be a slight. But Punk obviously

<v Speaker 2>did not take it as a joke, and so in

<v Speaker 2>front of everybody in the locker.

<v Speaker 1>Room, he went off on Owens.

<v Speaker 2>And I don't know exactly what he said, but whatever

<v Speaker 2>it was, he did it in front of the entire

<v Speaker 2>locker room and all of his peers. And that's what

<v Speaker 2>he talked about unsmacked out on Friday. Now, you embarrass

<v Speaker 2>me in front of our peers, right, you said all

<v Speaker 2>these horrible things about me. He thought that maybe Punk

<v Speaker 2>saw him, even even now, like coming off their first

<v Speaker 2>segment the week before, Punk, I guess had mumbled something

<v Speaker 2>under his breath or into the camera as he was leaving,

<v Speaker 2>and he said it was like fat slob or something

<v Speaker 2>something to that effent, maybe not using that exact language

<v Speaker 2>Owen said, but there were a lot of references to Owens,

<v Speaker 2>you know, being fat or a fat slob. And it

<v Speaker 2>was kind of interesting because Punk never said that. It

<v Speaker 2>was always Owens who kept saying that in this promo

<v Speaker 2>and bringing it up. And I think Punk even made

<v Speaker 2>a comment at one point and said, is that what

<v Speaker 2>I think of you?

<v Speaker 1>Or is that what you think of yourself?

<v Speaker 2>And I was kind of like, you know what, He's

<v Speaker 2>got a point, because Owen's is the one who keeps

<v Speaker 2>bringing this up as if he's very insecure about something

<v Speaker 2>or about the criticisms maybe that he's heard over all

<v Speaker 2>these many years. But that was kind of what they

<v Speaker 2>were getting into. And he said, it's not just that,

<v Speaker 2>it's not just one incident twenty years ago. I've never

<v Speaker 2>liked you. I have friends of mine that don't like you.

<v Speaker 2>And it was very clear who the friends were that

<v Speaker 2>he was referring to. Without saying the Bucks or Cabana,

<v Speaker 2>he was referring to a bunch of those guys in

<v Speaker 2>aw From there, Punk basically turns it back around on

<v Speaker 2>him and says, you are lazy and don't put in

<v Speaker 2>the hard work. I try to adapt, I try to evolve.

<v Speaker 2>I try to be at least one percent better when

<v Speaker 2>I wake up the next day and you're content, Basically

<v Speaker 2>you're content to just sort of coast and you don't

<v Speaker 2>put in the work. And I paved the way for

<v Speaker 2>people like you. And then when Owen's was like, well,

<v Speaker 2>you know, I did all of these things when you

<v Speaker 2>were in here and I was Universal Champion and I

<v Speaker 2>did something you never did, which was main event WrestleMania

<v Speaker 2>against Stone Cold Steve Austin. Punk said, you know what,

<v Speaker 2>You're right, you did all of those things. But do

<v Speaker 2>you honestly believe that if I didn't leave and I

<v Speaker 2>was still here, that you would have gotten those opportunities

<v Speaker 2>over me. So we got a lot of this back

<v Speaker 2>and forth between them, but the crux of it was

<v Speaker 2>that Owens said, I don't like you. I don't like

<v Speaker 2>the kind of person you are, and taking it back

<v Speaker 2>to that incident in the locker room twenty years ago,

<v Speaker 2>I didn't punch you. One of my greatest regrets is

<v Speaker 2>that I didn't punch you in the face that night.

<v Speaker 2>And Punk was ready for him to take a shot

<v Speaker 2>right now, but he said, you know what, I'm not

<v Speaker 2>going to do that because I've waited twenty years.

<v Speaker 1>I can wait.

<v Speaker 2>Another seven days and it's going to be that much

<v Speaker 2>sweeter in Toronto to do it there and at the

<v Speaker 2>same time beat your bitch ass and take the WWE championship.

<v Speaker 1>So when you're watching.

<v Speaker 2>This, yes, there's a lot of insider references and they

<v Speaker 2>didn't name the bucks, they didn't even say ring of honor,

<v Speaker 2>or they didn't get into the specifics of some of

<v Speaker 2>these things. But like, if you are a smart fan

<v Speaker 2>quote unquote, or if you've watched the shoot interviews or

<v Speaker 2>you've read stuff online over the years, a very niche

<v Speaker 2>part of the audience watching this would be aware of

<v Speaker 2>some of these references. And sometimes this kind of stuff

<v Speaker 2>makes me cringe when it gets a little too insider ish.

<v Speaker 2>But honestly, when this was over, this was the kind

<v Speaker 2>of face off that I was hoping for from Punk

<v Speaker 2>and Cody Rhodes. And I realized something when I was

<v Speaker 2>done watching this, which is that it was not possible

<v Speaker 2>to do this with Punk and Cody, and maybe that's

<v Speaker 2>why we didn't get it. Maybe that's why it just

<v Speaker 2>felt so flat and so disappointing to me when I

<v Speaker 2>saw them have their face to face before Summer Slid,

<v Speaker 2>because they didn't have the kind of material and the

<v Speaker 2>kind of history to work with that these two have.

<v Speaker 2>And these two men have never wrestled before. I mean,

<v Speaker 2>their history, if you think about it, their history together

<v Speaker 2>is actually very limited. They've never wrestled, but there's still

<v Speaker 2>history there there's connections between people that they've known.

<v Speaker 1>Over the years.

<v Speaker 2>There's a lot of sort of residual heat, even though

<v Speaker 2>in real life, I mean, I don't think Owens gives

<v Speaker 2>a shit about the T shirt stuff anymore. He's told

<v Speaker 2>the story, but I don't think he's been harboring a grudge.

<v Speaker 1>You know, in real life against the guy.

<v Speaker 2>But he's also probably not going to be best friends

<v Speaker 2>with Punk either. You can believe watching this that the

<v Speaker 2>these two men when the camera's off, they're not hanging

<v Speaker 2>out together, they probably don't enjoy each other's company. And

<v Speaker 2>even if they do and it's all kumba ya backstage,

<v Speaker 2>I can believe that they don't like each other. I

<v Speaker 2>can believe that Kevin Owens really doesn't like CM Punk.

<v Speaker 2>There's an authenticity there too. There's a believability there that

<v Speaker 2>just wasn't there with Cody and Punk, And a lot

<v Speaker 2>of the stuff they did with Cody and Punk was

<v Speaker 2>just very manufactured to try to create heat between them,

<v Speaker 2>going into the pay per view with the belt to

<v Speaker 2>the face by accident and all that bullshit. So I

<v Speaker 2>enjoyed this more. I enjoyed this a lot more than

<v Speaker 2>I did the Cody and Punk stuff. I'm looking forward

<v Speaker 2>to the match. I am not expecting that there will

<v Speaker 2>be a title change. I absolutely wish there would be.

<v Speaker 2>I would put the WWE Championship on Kevin Owens, but

<v Speaker 2>I'm not expecting them to. One of the reasons involved

<v Speaker 2>Sammy's ain. Sammy's ain was promised by Nick All this

<v Speaker 2>because Cody wanted a match with Sammy in the main event.

<v Speaker 2>Sammy showed his hand, which still had a brace on it.

<v Speaker 2>I'm injured, I can't wrestle, and all this said, you

<v Speaker 2>can't or you don't want to.

<v Speaker 1>I'll tell you what.

<v Speaker 2>You take this match, and you win this match, you

<v Speaker 2>will meet the winner of the match next week. So,

<v Speaker 2>whether it's Punk or whether it's Ko, whoever walks out

<v Speaker 2>in Toronto, the WWE champion, when that show is over,

<v Speaker 2>you're next in line. So of course Sammy accepted. We

<v Speaker 2>never got our main event. Cody was in the ring,

<v Speaker 2>Sammy was on his way out, and before Sammy could

<v Speaker 2>even get to the ring, Randy Orton slid in. He

<v Speaker 2>attacked Cody from behind. They brawled into the crowd. They

<v Speaker 2>brawled back to ringside. They had a very similar brawl

<v Speaker 2>to the one they had prior to WrestleMania, before Pat

<v Speaker 2>McAfee even got involved. If you remember the angle from back,

<v Speaker 2>I assume it was March where Orton bloodied up Cody.

<v Speaker 2>Remember he had the ring steps leaned up against the

<v Speaker 2>announced desk. Cody's laying on the desk, his head is

<v Speaker 2>in the crevice of the steps. Orton takes the chair

<v Speaker 2>and really he just smacks the steps. It makes a

<v Speaker 2>loud noise, and Cody is laying their bleeding. It was

<v Speaker 2>like this heavy injury angle. It was the night they

<v Speaker 2>signed the contract. I believe everything was all like cool

<v Speaker 2>between them, and it was the night that Cody told

<v Speaker 2>him I want the real Randy Orton, right, I give

<v Speaker 2>you permission to bring out the viper. And as soon

<v Speaker 2>as Orton signed the contract he turned on Cody. And

<v Speaker 2>I'm pretty sure that's the night they shot that angle. Well,

<v Speaker 2>all they did here was run the same shit back

<v Speaker 2>that they did then, only this time when Orton went

<v Speaker 2>to go hit Cody with the chair, Cody kicked him low.

<v Speaker 2>Cody then was going to do the same thing to him.

<v Speaker 2>Agents got involved, They pulled Cody away. They all you know,

<v Speaker 2>it was chaotic, and they went off the air in

<v Speaker 2>the middle of everything because they genuinely ran out of time. So,

<v Speaker 2>you know, decent enough ending to the show last night.

<v Speaker 2>I just wish there was a little more originality to it.

<v Speaker 2>Maybe there will be next week, but I believe now

<v Speaker 2>their match is official. This is what Nick All this

<v Speaker 2>was talking about earlier in the show. I can make

<v Speaker 2>the match happen Sunday Night's main event in Atlanta, GA,

<v Speaker 2>September sixth, So I'm pretty sure that's where we're getting

<v Speaker 2>Cody and Randy on that show. But to bring it

<v Speaker 2>back to Punkin Owens, Samy never got his match, So

<v Speaker 2>this just feeds into the whole gimmick of like he

<v Speaker 2>just keeps getting fucked over. Right, He was supposed to

<v Speaker 2>have an opportunity one on one at Summer Slam. All

<v Speaker 2>he had to do was beat Finn Balor, and if

<v Speaker 2>he beat Finn Balor, he would have gotten himself a

<v Speaker 2>title match. And then what happened. They added Gunther, they

<v Speaker 2>added Kevin Owens. Now it's a fucking four way. He

<v Speaker 2>got screwed, and he got screwed on Friday as well.

<v Speaker 2>Not a doubt in my mind he's gonna get involved

<v Speaker 2>in this match on Friday.

<v Speaker 2>title match on Friday night either. Baron Corbin pins Carmelo

<v Speaker 2>Hayes clean in the middle of the ring to retain

<v Speaker 2>the United States Championship. The most disappointing part of this

<v Speaker 2>is that he's still coming out with that fucking furry belt,

<v Speaker 2>which tells you right there that that belt is going

<v Speaker 2>right back to Trick Williams.

<v Speaker 2>Trick came out when the match was over, Lil YACHTI

<v Speaker 2>Then there's Chelsea Green. Chelsea Green got injured last week.

<v Speaker 2>It was her first SmackDown since winning the what was

<v Speaker 2>originally the interim Women's Championship. They're not even calling her

<v Speaker 2>that anymore now, she's just the WWE Women's Champion. So

<v Speaker 2>they have silently dropped the interim part of this because

<v Speaker 2>rear Ripley had surgery. She's gone until possibly the beginning

<v Speaker 2>of next year, end of this year, and so we

<v Speaker 2>don't know. She's not been formally stripped of the championship.

<v Speaker 2>They haven't said that she's vacated or anything like that.

<v Speaker 2>But Chelsea is the champion or is she? Because coming

<v Speaker 2>into the show on Friday, we weren't sure what the

<v Speaker 2>hell was going on. She came out to the ring.

<v Speaker 2>looked like he was about to strip her of the title,

<v Speaker 2>and she begged and she pleaded, and she said, you

<v Speaker 2>know all the stuff that I've been through and I've

<v Speaker 2>put myself through in this company over the years, and Nick,

<v Speaker 2>I know you can relate. You know, we both shared

<v Speaker 2>these amazing moments in our respective matches at Summerslim. If

<v Speaker 2>anybody can understand what I'm going through, it's you. He said,

<v Speaker 2>you know, I've conferred with medical and I'm sorry. I

<v Speaker 2>have no choice but to ask you to relinquish the

<v Speaker 2>women's championship. And what was notable here in this segment

<v Speaker 2>was the reaction the crowd reaction to Chelsea Green. Really

<v Speaker 2>from the moment she came out to the ring crowd

<v Speaker 2>in Boston, which was quiet for a lot of things

<v Speaker 2>on this show, was very loud for Chelsea Green. They

<v Speaker 2>were very behind her. They were chanting her name, they

<v Speaker 2>were chanting you deserve it. They booed when all this

<v Speaker 2>talked about stripping her of the belt, and if you're

<v Speaker 2>Chelsea Green, you gotta be doing cartwheels on the inside,

<v Speaker 2>because this is exactly what you would hope for, right

<v Speaker 2>you're hoping. First of all, the injury is not so

<v Speaker 2>serious that you need surgery. The good news is it

<v Speaker 2>doesn't appear to be that way, so there's really no

<v Speaker 2>reason for them to take the belt off of her,

<v Speaker 2>which in the end they didn't. Because all this had

<v Speaker 2>a change of heart and said, you know, the GM

<v Speaker 2>in me thinks I'm making the right decision. But Nick,

<v Speaker 2>all this, the man basically says, fuck medical, Come on

<v Speaker 2>back to the ring and he is.

<v Speaker 1>Allowing her to keep the championship.

<v Speaker 2>But she's got thirty days, so he says, go ahead

<v Speaker 2>and heal up, wear a mask, do whatever it is

<v Speaker 2>that you need to do to get yourself cleared. You

<v Speaker 2>got thirty days to get cleared. If you're not cleared,

<v Speaker 2>you're stripped. If you get cleared, we go on and

<v Speaker 2>you get to keep your championship. But the crowd reaction

<v Speaker 2>to Chelsea throughout this entire opening segment on Friday, she

<v Speaker 2>came off as the biggest babyface in that women's division

<v Speaker 2>and one of the biggest baby faces on the entire show.

<v Speaker 2>She needs those reactions to continue whenever she's out there.

<v Speaker 2>All that's gonna do it's just gonna help her cause

<v Speaker 2>because you know, there are still people on the back

<v Speaker 2>who were unconvinced that she is worthy of being in

<v Speaker 2>a top spot like that in the division. Yeah, they

<v Speaker 2>put the belt on her, but there are still people

<v Speaker 2>in the back, and it may well be the very

<v Speaker 2>tippy top people even though they're giving her her moment

<v Speaker 2>now that they already have sights on, like Okay, when's

<v Speaker 2>Rea going to be back? When can we get the

<v Speaker 2>later on in the night, and I'm seeing this in

<v Speaker 2>the opening segment. I'm thinking, Okay, I see what the

<v Speaker 2>vision is here. This is going to soften Tiffany up.

<v Speaker 2>her an out. She's gonna lose that title, and it's

<v Speaker 2>road so much and put a strain on his family

<v Speaker 2>life as he did so many others back then.

<v Speaker 2>one day and when his mom asked him to give

<v Speaker 2>her the money, he refused and she knocked him silly

<v Speaker 2>with a cast iron skillet and took the money for herself.

<v Speaker 2>This is his mother that you couple that with his

<v Speaker 2>father's drinking and him growing up poor and basically a

<v Speaker 2>converted chicken coop, it sounds like quite the childhood he had.

<v Speaker 2>Also helpful for them to be able to splice in

<v Speaker 2>footage of an old two thousand and two shoot interview

<v Speaker 2>that Orndorff did, so we can actually hear from him

<v Speaker 2>throughout the episode. If you remember, mister Wonderful, he had

<v Speaker 2>a ten out of ten physique and even before he

<v Speaker 2>got into wrestling, he was a great athlete. He was

<v Speaker 2>one of the best to come out of Tampa, Florida.

<v Speaker 2>Brian Blair and Gerald Brisco, they were here in this

<v Speaker 2>episode to talk about that aspect of things. Blair and Orndorf,

<v Speaker 2>Van Hulk Cogan, they were all friends dating back to

<v Speaker 2>drafted by the New Orleans Saints and he played four

<v Speaker 2>years in the NFL, And we have to correct the

<v Speaker 2>record here a little bit. He did get drafted by

<v Speaker 2>the Saints. He got drafted in the twelfth round. He

<v Speaker 2>never played for them, though, you know, to hear him

<v Speaker 2>tell it, he was on the field for four years.

<v Speaker 2>In fact, he never played a single down for them

<v Speaker 2>or for anyone in the NFL. He quit during training camp,

<v Speaker 2>and then later he attended training camp for the Chicago Bears.

<v Speaker 2>He quit that as well, both times because he supposedly

<v Speaker 2>got homesick and did not like being away from his

<v Speaker 2>family didn't like being away from Florida, which is kind

<v Speaker 2>of funny given the profession that he ended up choosing

<v Speaker 2>right led to him being away from home for most

<v Speaker 2>of his time in wrestling, but he ended up playing

<v Speaker 2>in the World Football League in nineteen seventy five. He

<v Speaker 2>got injured, though, and the league shut down in the

<v Speaker 2>middle of its second season, and so that was the

<v Speaker 2>end of his football career. They didn't mention this, but

<v Speaker 2>after football, he became a champion in arm wrestling, and

<v Speaker 2>Orndorf then claimed his father in law. This is what

<v Speaker 2>he claimed in that shoot interview clip that they had

<v Speaker 2>in the episode. He claimed his father in law knew

<v Speaker 2>Eddie Graham, who was the promoter out of Florida, and

<v Speaker 2>Graham gave him a tryout. I was of the belief

<v Speaker 2>that it was the sports editor of whatever the Tampa

<v Speaker 2>newspaper there was at the time, who went to Eddie

<v Speaker 2>Graham and told him to bring Orndorf in unless the

<v Speaker 2>editor was his father in law, which I doubt. But

<v Speaker 2>Gerald Briscoe, after Orndorff died in talking to Dave Meltzer,

<v Speaker 2>said that Tom I forgot his last name, but that

<v Speaker 2>was the name of the editor. He thought that Orndorf

<v Speaker 2>would be a great pro wrestler, you know, having known

<v Speaker 2>him from his collegiate days, and he said he was right. So,

<v Speaker 2>whoever you choose to believe, that was his entry into

<v Speaker 2>the wrestling business. Fast forward to nineteen eighty three, Hogan

<v Speaker 2>recommended Orndorff to Vince McMahon, who brought him in and

<v Speaker 2>he went on to have his greatest success working there.

<v Speaker 2>Orndorff lived the gimmick, and he even said, asked my wife,

<v Speaker 2>you know I was a jerk, which gets into a

<v Speaker 2>discussion about all the groupies on the road that would

<v Speaker 2>throw themselves at the wrestlers or be waiting for them

<v Speaker 2>at their hotels. I mean, this was a common thing

<v Speaker 2>back then.

<v Speaker 1>I know.

<v Speaker 2>Meltzer once shared a story, pretty sure it originated from him,

<v Speaker 2>about Orndorff having sex with seven women in one night.

<v Speaker 2>I don't know of this predates him getting married, but

<v Speaker 2>I'm going to guess not, because I'm pretty sure he

<v Speaker 2>was already married by the time he got into wrestling.

<v Speaker 2>Whatever arena they were at, there was an office, and

<v Speaker 2>in the office there was a couch, and he took part.

<v Speaker 2>And again this is fabled story here, but he took

<v Speaker 2>part in the contest with some of the other wrestlers

<v Speaker 2>to see how many women they could have sex with

<v Speaker 2>from the start of the show until the end of

<v Speaker 2>the show, so basically over the course of a three

<v Speaker 2>hour period. Now, mind you, this included whatever time they

<v Speaker 2>had to step away to go to the ring for

<v Speaker 2>their match, because they were all wrestling that night, and

<v Speaker 2>evidently Orndorff won the contest with seven women. I don't

<v Speaker 2>want to know what he must have smelled like going

<v Speaker 2>to the ring that night, but they talked about him

<v Speaker 2>being part of the very first Wrestlemanium main event. They

<v Speaker 2>got into this pretty early here in the episode, teaming

<v Speaker 2>with Rowdy Roddy Piper against Hulk Hogan and Mister t.

<v Speaker 2>This was set up by the angle they shot on

<v Speaker 2>the War to Settle the Score special on MTV that

<v Speaker 2>aired the month before this, Right here. This was the

<v Speaker 2>peak of the rock and wrestling era and it was

<v Speaker 2>Hogan on that war to settle the score show against

<v Speaker 2>Roddy Piper and Madison Square Garden. Orndorf joined Piper and

<v Speaker 2>beating down Hogan when Mister T, who was sitting in

<v Speaker 2>the front row, Mister T big star at the time,

<v Speaker 2>right star of the A Team, which is one of

<v Speaker 2>the big TV shows. He's sitting there in the front

<v Speaker 2>row and he sees that the Heels are starting to

<v Speaker 2>threaten to beat up Cindy Lauper. He gets in the ring,

<v Speaker 2>he makes the save. That's what set up the tag

<v Speaker 2>team met for WrestleMania to hear Hogan tell the story

<v Speaker 2>as he did on Steve Austin's podcast many years ago,

<v Speaker 2>not the WWE video one. Austin had an audio podcast

<v Speaker 2>for many years and Hogan was one of his guests.

<v Speaker 2>According to Hogan, Orndorf spot was not originally intended for Orndorf.

<v Speaker 2>It was intended for doctor d David Schultz, and Hogan

<v Speaker 2>said the entire idea for the stuff with Mister T

<v Speaker 2>at WrestleMania came from David Schultz. One of the few

<v Speaker 2>stories that Hogan has told that I might actually believe

<v Speaker 2>because when Piper came to the company, he was a manager.

<v Speaker 2>At first, he wasn't even wrestling. I think he was

<v Speaker 2>still injured coming out of the dog collar match at

<v Speaker 2>the First Star Kid with Greg Ballentine. I think it

<v Speaker 2>was like an ear busted ear drum, whatever the injury was.

<v Speaker 2>But he came in he was a manager, and the

<v Speaker 2>two men that he managed were Paul Orndorf and Doctor

<v Speaker 2>d So the connection was already there. The only thing

<v Speaker 2>that makes me question it is the John Stossel incident

<v Speaker 2>had already happened. Stossel was a reporter for the news

<v Speaker 2>magazine show twenty twenty. He was doing a report on

<v Speaker 2>pro wrestling and very famously said to Schultz in the

<v Speaker 2>locker room.

<v Speaker 1>They were standing in the hallway.

<v Speaker 2>He goes, I think this stuff is fake. And that's

<v Speaker 2>just something you didn't say back then. It's something you

<v Speaker 2>don't say now, like honestly, just as a matter of respect.

<v Speaker 2>If let's say you're backstage at a WWE show and

<v Speaker 2>a reporter is looking at you and goes, I think

<v Speaker 2>this shit is fake, right, I would say even in

<v Speaker 2>today's world, that would be pretty disrespectful. Imagine how that

<v Speaker 2>came off in nineteen eighty four. Okay, and so what

<v Speaker 2>did Schultz do? Schultz open hands smacked him twice to

<v Speaker 2>show him how fake it really is. And Schultz after

<v Speaker 2>that he mostly ended up doing jobs. So clearly there

<v Speaker 2>was some residual heat over it. So that's what makes

<v Speaker 2>me think, like, you know, would they suddenly include him

<v Speaker 2>in the WrestleMania main event if he was doing jobs

<v Speaker 2>coming out of that incident?

<v Speaker 1>I don't know. I don't know about that.

<v Speaker 2>What did him in ultimately, and this is why he

<v Speaker 2>got fired, was there was an incident at a show

<v Speaker 2>in Los Angeles. This was also the month before WrestleMania.

<v Speaker 2>Mister T is there as a guest. Schultz has claimed

<v Speaker 2>that he was backstage, he was chatting with mister T

<v Speaker 2>before the show. Everything was cordial.

<v Speaker 1>Chief J.

<v Speaker 2>Strongbow he was the agent that night and he saw

<v Speaker 2>Schultz with mister T. And he went up to Schultz

<v Speaker 2>afterwards and he said, look, if you bother mister T tonight,

<v Speaker 2>you're gone, all right, You're fired, And Schultz tells him, well,

<v Speaker 2>then I guess you better fire me, and Strongbo says, well,

<v Speaker 2>then you're fired. Later that night, Schultz makes his way

<v Speaker 2>down to ringsite, mister T is sitting there and he's

<v Speaker 2>not doing it to cause a scene. He claims Toru

<v Speaker 2>Tanaka was sitting with mister T, and Schultz was friends

<v Speaker 2>with Tanaka, so he just wanted to go over and

<v Speaker 2>say hello. Strongbow sees this though. He sees he's going

<v Speaker 2>over there, he alerts the cops who hogtied Schultz. They

<v Speaker 2>put guns to his head and they carried him to

<v Speaker 2>the back. They tossed him out the back door and

<v Speaker 2>they told him don't come back. And Hogan would claim

<v Speaker 2>on Austin's podcast that Schultz bitch slapped mister T. He

<v Speaker 2>did not bitch slap mister T, but he did get

<v Speaker 2>fired over it. So anyway, Orndorf gets the spot and

<v Speaker 2>he does the job at the end of the WrestleMania

<v Speaker 2>Maine event, and apparently he wasn't thrilled about his payoff

<v Speaker 2>for the show, but it was a prime spot for

<v Speaker 2>him to be in. He was never in a spot

<v Speaker 2>like that ever. Again, right main event of the first

<v Speaker 2>WrestleMania Madison Square Garden, all these celebrities around, You're in

<v Speaker 2>there with Hogan and mister T. I mean, that was

<v Speaker 2>the peak right there. For Orndorf, so then they covered

<v Speaker 2>the Orndorf babyface turn becoming Hogan's partner, which led to

<v Speaker 2>the eventual betrayal, which was a staple of Hulk Hogan's career.

<v Speaker 2>It was a blueprint for the Mega Powers angle that

<v Speaker 2>they did years later with Hogan and Randy Savage, and

<v Speaker 2>they're probably the two people that Hogan made the most

<v Speaker 2>money with working with him, and both of them came

<v Speaker 2>after they turned he on him. There was a tag

<v Speaker 2>team match against King Kong, Bundy and Big John stud

<v Speaker 2>Orndorf was upset he had been trying to call Hogan.

<v Speaker 2>I mean, I guess there had been signs that he

<v Speaker 2>was jealous or getting jealous of him, but the angle

<v Speaker 2>was that he was trying to call him Hogan just didn't.

<v Speaker 1>Answer his phone.

<v Speaker 2>And they get there that night and Hogan tells him,

<v Speaker 2>look forget about all that stuff, dude, get your head right.

<v Speaker 2>We got a big match tonight. And they come out

<v Speaker 2>of the match and you see Hogan just blow right

<v Speaker 2>past them as they were making their entrance, and so

<v Speaker 2>that didn't sit well with Orndorf, and Orndorf tells Hogan,

<v Speaker 2>I'm going to start the match. You just go stand

<v Speaker 2>on the apron. I got this, and so Orndorf. He

<v Speaker 2>goes wild and has the crowd and a tizzy, and

<v Speaker 2>then finally tags Hogan in and Hogan did the same

<v Speaker 2>thing and got an even louder response, and this greatly

<v Speaker 2>angered Orndorf. And then Hogan accidentally collided with him and

<v Speaker 2>knocked him off the apron.

<v Speaker 1>That was it.

<v Speaker 2>Now Hogan's being double teamed. Orndorf is back up on

<v Speaker 2>the a He's just watching all of this, and eventually

<v Speaker 2>he gets in the ring and he drops the hammer

<v Speaker 2>and he closelines Hogan. He gave him a pile driver.

<v Speaker 2>This was back when the pile driver actually meant something

<v Speaker 2>and it wasn't reduced to the same status as a

<v Speaker 2>fucking shinlock. This was a big angle back then, and

<v Speaker 2>that led to their biggest box office feud, probably in

<v Speaker 2>the history of the company. Up until that point, Orndorf

<v Speaker 2>was pulling twenty grand a week at the peak of

<v Speaker 2>their feud. Now, if he was making twenty grand a week,

<v Speaker 2>I can't imagine what Hogan must have been pulling. But

<v Speaker 2>not bad for a guy who grew up in a

<v Speaker 2>chicken coop. They sold out almost everywhere they went, Jim

<v Speaker 2>Cornett claimed they were selling one hundred and fifty thousand

<v Speaker 2>tickets per week off the program between the two of them.

<v Speaker 2>That sounds high.

<v Speaker 1>I don't know.

<v Speaker 2>I mean, he's not usually one to bullshit numbers like that,

<v Speaker 2>so it is possible. But I mean, that's a pretty

<v Speaker 2>insane number, that's true. But it all built to the

<v Speaker 2>big event in August of nineteen eighty six c N

<v Speaker 2>Stadium in Toronto. They were expecting twenty five thousand fans.

<v Speaker 2>They ended up doing over sixty thousand and their first

<v Speaker 2>million dollar gate. And it wasn't like it was a

<v Speaker 2>pay per view or anything on the grand scale of

<v Speaker 2>a WrestleMania. This was a local show like it wasn't

<v Speaker 2>even televised and a little trivia note that match drawing

<v Speaker 2>as well as it did. Doing that kind of crowd

<v Speaker 2>is what led to Vince McMahon booking the Pontiac's Silver

<v Speaker 2>Dome for WrestleMania three. And the rumor has always been

<v Speaker 2>that if Andrea the Giant wasn't able to do the

<v Speaker 2>match with Hogan, Orndorf was the backup who would have

<v Speaker 2>gotten on to the card and would have gotten that

<v Speaker 2>spot of WrestleMania, which is why Orndorf had no match

<v Speaker 2>on that show. It does make sense if they were

<v Speaker 2>holding him out to be the backup just in case,

<v Speaker 2>But they absolutely could have extended the Hogan Orndorf fewd

<v Speaker 2>to WrestleMania and had Hogan wrestle him there at the

<v Speaker 2>Silver Dome. But at the Angle with Andre, it was

<v Speaker 2>just so much bigger. You know, Andre going heel for

<v Speaker 2>the first time, betraying Hogan. You know, this is a

<v Speaker 2>common theme throughout his career. It seems like, what did

<v Speaker 2>these guys know that the rest of us didn't at

<v Speaker 2>the time about Hogan, that all of these people would

<v Speaker 2>turn against him. But years ago, you know, WWE they

<v Speaker 2>published a list of the top five betrayals in WWE

<v Speaker 2>history on their Instagram page. Do you know where this

<v Speaker 2>one ranked? It didn't you know what? Did the Bella

<v Speaker 2>Twins and Bushing Ronda Rousey? Yes, I think they teamed

<v Speaker 2>together for like two matches before it happened, but it

<v Speaker 2>made their top five of all time. During that program,

<v Speaker 2>Orndorf was injured and they do talk about the injury

<v Speaker 2>here in the episode. He took a clothes line, he

<v Speaker 2>landed wrong, and he hurt his shoulder. He had a

<v Speaker 2>herniated disk in his neck. He needed surgery, but he

<v Speaker 2>refused to go under the knife because of how much

<v Speaker 2>money he was making right, generational wealth is what his

<v Speaker 2>son called it. This was the biggest run of his career, right,

<v Speaker 2>I mean, he wasn't about to go home for six months.

<v Speaker 2>If he's been pulling twenty thousand dollars a week, you

<v Speaker 2>can understand why he would want to gut it out

<v Speaker 2>and he wouldn't want to have surgery. The downside to that, though, unfortunately,

<v Speaker 2>what ended up happening is he suffered permanent nerve damage

<v Speaker 2>that led to the muscles on the right side of

<v Speaker 2>his body led to them atrophying, especially his arm. Like

<v Speaker 2>it's very easy to see how much smaller his right

<v Speaker 2>arm was, and then his left after that, and then

<v Speaker 2>ultimately I think it was in eighty eight orn dwarf leaves.

<v Speaker 2>It was not an amicable parting of the ways. He

<v Speaker 2>no showed after asking for some days off and he

<v Speaker 2>was rejected, and at that point he got out of wrestling.

<v Speaker 2>He bought a bowling alley. He had never bowled a

<v Speaker 2>day in his life, but he bought a bowling alley

<v Speaker 2>off the advice of an investor named Shelton Thorne who

<v Speaker 2>got in his ear, and he would come to find

<v Speaker 2>out later on he was running a Ponzi scheme. He

<v Speaker 2>was robbing Peter to pay all, so to speak, only

<v Speaker 2>the pall he was paying wasn't Orndorf. He got conned

<v Speaker 2>out of all of his money, all the money he

<v Speaker 2>made from that big run, all the money he had

<v Speaker 2>saved up from his wrestling days, poof gone just like that.

<v Speaker 2>And it didn't help that his wife had developed an

<v Speaker 2>addiction to prescription pain pills after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

<v Speaker 2>She was spending a lot of his money on drugs

<v Speaker 2>to self medicaid. All of this led to Orndorf getting

<v Speaker 2>back in the ring on the independen scene. He's like, well,

<v Speaker 2>got to make money, so we got to go back

<v Speaker 2>to wrestling, because you do what you need to do, right,

<v Speaker 2>You do what you gotta do to support your family.

<v Speaker 2>And Cornett said he even brought him into Smoky Mountain

<v Speaker 2>for a time at a very agreeable rate. Then in

<v Speaker 2>nineteen ninety three he signed with WCW, so they totally

<v Speaker 2>glossed over the three months that he worked there. In

<v Speaker 2>nineteen ninety his run in ninety three though, was the

<v Speaker 2>more successful of the two, and I wasn't really a

<v Speaker 2>fan of how they sort of denigrated that run. His

<v Speaker 2>son says, he really hated the gimmick that they had

<v Speaker 2>him doing, where they had this guy Gary Spivey, who

<v Speaker 2>was not a wrestler, but he was this self proclaimed

<v Speaker 2>spiritual healer and psychic. He's the kind of guy you

<v Speaker 2>would see in like a two o'clock in the morning

<v Speaker 2>infomercial on TV. They bring him in to do like

<v Speaker 2>a cameo to give Orndorff some words of encouragement because

<v Speaker 2>Orndorf in storyline, he was losing and he kind of

<v Speaker 2>lost his mojo. He was down on his luck, doubting himself,

<v Speaker 2>and Gary Spivey comes in and convinces him that, you know,

<v Speaker 2>you gotta turn things around. And he started doing the

<v Speaker 2>deal where he fell in love with himself and he

<v Speaker 2>would carry a mirror to the ring with him to

<v Speaker 2>admire himself. And they gave him new cheesy theme music,

<v Speaker 2>which is a guilty pleasure of mine. I like that

<v Speaker 2>theme music, cheesy as it may have been, And believe me,

<v Speaker 2>I don't like cheese, but like, okay, fine, I can

<v Speaker 2>understand them not liking that. But like before that, he

<v Speaker 2>won the television title. Well, he won a couple of

<v Speaker 2>tag team titles with Paul Roma. They were a team

<v Speaker 2>called Pretty Wonderful. I thought he had a good run

<v Speaker 2>there in WCW. I was shocked that they didn't bring

<v Speaker 2>up the locker room fight with Vader because it's such

<v Speaker 2>a great story. But I mean, I guess time constraints

<v Speaker 2>and all that, so I'll tell it. There's a few

<v Speaker 2>different versions of this story. Most of them were pretty

<v Speaker 2>much in agreement though that Vader got his ass kicked

<v Speaker 2>by Orndorf. Vader claims that Eric Bischoff had asked him

<v Speaker 2>one day to do a photo shoot. This was right

<v Speaker 2>before a TV taping that was scheduled at Center Stage.

<v Speaker 2>Vader does the photo shoot, he shows up late to

<v Speaker 2>the tapings. Orndorf, I guess, was working as an agent

<v Speaker 2>that night, and you know, because he was splitting his

<v Speaker 2>time between being a wrestler and being an agent. He

<v Speaker 2>sees Vader and he asked him, like, where the hell

<v Speaker 2>have you been.

<v Speaker 1>You're late.

<v Speaker 2>Vader said, listen, you're not my boss, to which Orndorf

<v Speaker 2>may or may not have called him a fat ass

<v Speaker 2>or worse, Vader claims that Bishop promised that he would

<v Speaker 2>let the guys know that he was going to be

<v Speaker 2>coming late from the photo shoot, which Orndorf obviously knew

<v Speaker 2>nothing about. So the whole thing started out as a misunderstanding.

<v Speaker 2>Everybody agrees, though, that Vader sucker punched Orndorf, and that's

<v Speaker 2>what kind of started things, Vader says. Otherwise, he says

<v Speaker 2>Orndorf was only a few inches from his face, he

<v Speaker 2>was threatening him, and so he just reacted.

<v Speaker 1>But he also said he.

<v Speaker 2>Knew he would end up in jail if he really

<v Speaker 2>went after him, and so that's why you know, Vader

<v Speaker 2>was covering up and he was trying to shield himself

<v Speaker 2>as Orndorf was laying a beat down on him. Orndorf

<v Speaker 2>also kicked Vader in the head a few times while

<v Speaker 2>wearing flipflops. Now, it's one thing to get your ass kicked,

<v Speaker 2>but to get your ass kicked by a man in

<v Speaker 2>flip flops, a man with nerve damage in his arm

<v Speaker 2>wearing flip flops, now that's embarrassing. And a bullet barb barb.

<v Speaker 1>Sounds like his wife, Bob and bullet.

<v Speaker 2>Bullet Bob and bullet Barb. I just I don't know

<v Speaker 2>why I pop myself there. Bullet Bob Armstrong, he saw

<v Speaker 2>the whole thing.

<v Speaker 1>He was there that night.

<v Speaker 2>He said, Paul just beat him until Vader started bleeding.

<v Speaker 2>Dave Penzer, he was the ring announcer at the tapings.

<v Speaker 2>He said it had nothing to do with Vader being late.

<v Speaker 2>He said Orndorf's description of the fight is the most

<v Speaker 2>accurate version. Orndorf finally got whisked away into another room,

<v Speaker 2>and then Vader claims he was ready to fight. How

<v Speaker 2>convenient right now. I'm ready to throw down, right but

<v Speaker 2>they wouldn't let him. And he says he told Orndorf,

<v Speaker 2>you know, meet him in the parking lot. They'll settle things.

<v Speaker 2>But the other agents they wouldn't allow it. And so

<v Speaker 2>that's where it ended. That fight is what led to

<v Speaker 2>Vader being fired in nineteen ninety five, although he claims

<v Speaker 2>he wasn't actually fired, but in the end he was gone.

<v Speaker 2>That was it for him in WCW, and that paved

<v Speaker 2>the way for him to sign with the WWF. And

<v Speaker 2>he was never the same after that. He was never

<v Speaker 2>pushed the same way. He was never the same performer

<v Speaker 2>in ring as like the big Van Vader days. It

<v Speaker 2>was hardly the same person. Orndorf's body at this point,

<v Speaker 2>not just his arm. It was really starting to atrophy

<v Speaker 2>very badly by that point, so he retired in ninety five.

<v Speaker 2>He served as a trainer for WCW at the power

<v Speaker 2>Plant until five years later when he was part of

<v Speaker 2>a ten man elimination match between the Filthy Animals which

<v Speaker 2>included a masculss Raymisterio Junior, and the Natural Born Thrillers,

<v Speaker 2>where he would be working against some of his trainees

<v Speaker 2>from the power Plant. I think he was teaming with

<v Speaker 2>the Filthy Animals. And so he's out there and he's

<v Speaker 2>looking pretty good, you know, all things considered. He hasn't

<v Speaker 2>been in the ring in five years. He's an older guy,

<v Speaker 2>he's got the atrophy on the right side, but he

<v Speaker 2>looks pretty good. He hits one pile driver on somebody,

<v Speaker 2>and then later he goes to hit another pile driver

<v Speaker 2>on Mark Jindrak, who went up. You know, when Orndorf

<v Speaker 2>went to go initially pick him up, he jumped too

<v Speaker 2>soon and so they had to kind of you know,

<v Speaker 2>readjust and on the second try, Orndorf he ends up

<v Speaker 2>falling straight backwards. And you can see him as he

<v Speaker 2>delivers this pile driver, he smacks the back of his

<v Speaker 2>own head on the mat. And the reason that he

<v Speaker 2>did it that way and it looked bad, he did

<v Speaker 2>it to protect Gindrag because had he followed through on

<v Speaker 2>the move as he normally does, he said he would

<v Speaker 2>have spiked the kid. So instead he injured himself and Cornette.

<v Speaker 2>You know, he buried Jindrag for it. Orndorf got a stinger,

<v Speaker 2>although his son says his dad broke his neck and

<v Speaker 2>was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in two

<v Speaker 2>thousand and five, alongside Hogan and Piper and Cowboy Bob Orton,

<v Speaker 2>all of whom were involved in the first Wrestlemaniam made

<v Speaker 2>event in some former fashion. Five years later, his son

<v Speaker 2>starts to notice a decline in his dad's memory, which

<v Speaker 2>is only accelerated by the diagnosis of throat cancer that

<v Speaker 2>the sound off, and he burned through whatever savings he

<v Speaker 2>had on his medical bills and almost lost his house,

<v Speaker 2>help him pay his property taxes so that he wouldn't

<v Speaker 2>lose his home. I think the last appearance he made

<v Speaker 2>on was the birthday celebration they did for Hulk Hogan

<v Speaker 2>in twenty fourteen. That was the one where brock Lesner

<v Speaker 2>came out and told Hogan parties over. Grandpa Orndorf was

<v Speaker 2>unrecognizable by this point, like he looked so much older

<v Speaker 2>than other contemporaries of his who were the same age.

<v Speaker 2>He just he looked ten to fifteen years older and

<v Speaker 2>he had the handlebar mustache. He ended up with dementia,

<v Speaker 2>and unfortunately he got it about as bad as you

<v Speaker 2>can get it. He didn't recognize his own family members

<v Speaker 2>or a lot of his old friends. I think Brian

<v Speaker 2>Blair was like the only person he's still recognized, and

<v Speaker 2>Brian Blair. He felt that Orndorf was being abused, and

<v Speaker 2>he blames his wife for not giving Orndorf his medicine

<v Speaker 2>and not taking care of him, neglecting him. She was

<v Speaker 2>on meth apparently and strung out on other drugs, and

<v Speaker 2>so Travis took his father into his home. Paul wanted

<v Speaker 2>to go back home, though he didn't want to leave

<v Speaker 2>his wife, and it got so bad that his son

<v Speaker 2>called adult protective services. I've heard of child protective services.

<v Speaker 2>This is adult protective services. That's how bad it was.

<v Speaker 2>And then fast forward during the pandemic in twenty twenty one,

<v Speaker 2>Orndorf was hospitalized with pneumonia and when his son visited him,

<v Speaker 2>he was shocked by the state that his father was

<v Speaker 2>in and he was told his father was near death

<v Speaker 2>and he wanted to take him home. You know, live

<v Speaker 2>out the rest of his days. The doctor said, we

<v Speaker 2>can't let you do that. It's like, why no, it

<v Speaker 2>has to be the next of kin, which obviously he is.

<v Speaker 2>But the doctors wouldn't let him because, you know, legally

<v Speaker 2>or whatever. The mother, the wife would have to sign

<v Speaker 2>off on it, and they couldn't reach her. Tried calling her,

<v Speaker 2>they couldn't reach her. She was non responsive, and they're like, well,

<v Speaker 2>there's nothing we can do. So his son did something

<v Speaker 2>that did not sit well with a lot of Paul's friends.

<v Speaker 2>He filmed and I remember this well. He filmed a

<v Speaker 2>short video clip of his father. He's in his hospital gown.

<v Speaker 2>He's sitting there. It looked like he was chewing on

<v Speaker 2>like salt packets or whatever it was. Maybe he was

<v Speaker 2>trying to open it with his teeth. I don't know

<v Speaker 2>what he was doing, but it was it was depressing.

<v Speaker 2>I mean, it was really sad to see him in that,

<v Speaker 2>and he posted the video online. The reason he did

<v Speaker 2>it was he was trying to raise awareness about his

<v Speaker 2>father's situation and what was going on. And I guess

<v Speaker 2>the thought in his head was that maybe this could

<v Speaker 2>apply pressure of some kind and it goes viral or

<v Speaker 2>catches fire and it leads to something happening. He felt desperate,

<v Speaker 2>you know, he felt helpless. But it was very sad

<v Speaker 2>to watch, you know. Briscoe and Arn Anderson and Brian Blair,

<v Speaker 2>they all wonder why would his son post something like that.

<v Speaker 2>You know, Orndorf was a proud man. He wouldn't want

<v Speaker 2>people to see him like that. And at the time,

<v Speaker 2>Brian Blair called the son. He called Travis and said,

<v Speaker 2>take it down. Take the video down. He said, Dave

<v Speaker 2>mel Heltzer posted about it. Take it down, and Travis

<v Speaker 2>was like, who the fuck is Dave Meltzer and why

<v Speaker 2>should I care what he says? And he refused. He

<v Speaker 2>refused to take it down. He said he was desperate.

<v Speaker 2>He didn't want his father to die in the hospital

<v Speaker 2>during COVID, and Blair said in retrospect, he can understand

<v Speaker 2>why Travis did what he did, and he did manage

<v Speaker 2>to get his father home with him to live out

<v Speaker 2>the rest of his days. He was seventy one years

<v Speaker 2>old when he passed away. Travis says that he has

<v Speaker 2>since been able to forgive his mother for her problems

<v Speaker 2>and make peace with her. So I guess that's kind

<v Speaker 2>of a happy ending, but not really. You know, it

<v Speaker 2>was really depressing seeing someone who always looked so strong

<v Speaker 2>looking so weak and frail there at the end and suffering.

<v Speaker 2>You know, you want to remember these guys as they were,

<v Speaker 2>but you realize they're human just like the rest of us,

<v Speaker 2>and they put their bodies through a lot more than

<v Speaker 2>the average person does. I thought this was a very

<v Speaker 2>good episode, though sad as it may have been there

<v Speaker 2>towards the end. I thought it was very good. Orndorf

<v Speaker 2>I think gets overlooked because he came up in the

<v Speaker 2>era of Hogan, and Hogan was the draw. But every

<v Speaker 2>great babyface needs a great heel to work with, as

<v Speaker 2>first time, I called that entire show by myself, and

<v Speaker 2>it fatigues you. You know, you just get to a

<v Speaker 2>point where you've run out of things to say. I mean,

<v Speaker 2>just talking in general, and you just get to a

<v Speaker 2>point where, you know, when you don't have somebody to

<v Speaker 2>play off of, you run out of things to say.

<v Speaker 2>you feel that way, like oh, I don't think I

<v Speaker 2>have anything left to talk about, that's when you have

<v Speaker 2>to find interesting things to talk about, right, or something

<v Speaker 2>You also have to watch that you don't lose your voice,

<v Speaker 2>so you don't want to be screaming too much. I'm

<v Speaker 2>not big on screaming anyway, but for those moments, you know,

<v Speaker 2>where it's warranted, it's fine because I just don't think

<v Speaker 2>people want to listen to you scream in their ear

<v Speaker 2>for three hours straight. But it still weakens your voice.

<v Speaker 2>As the show goes on, when yours is the only

<v Speaker 2>one that people hear, you know you have nobody to

<v Speaker 2>play off of. So it's not an ideal situation, and

<v Speaker 2>I respect him for doing it for as long as

<v Speaker 2>he did. Chris from Cleveland, You've talked a lot about

<v Speaker 2>how the vision is hurting bron Breaker, and you are correct. However,

<v Speaker 2>I think the Vision has also hurt Logan Paul. Prevision,

<v Speaker 2>Logan had potential to be a generational heel. Maybe that's

<v Speaker 2>an exaggeration, but he was a fantastic heel who was

<v Speaker 2>getting great heat. What made him unique was his character

<v Speaker 2>not just themselves. Guess what, there would already be a

<v Speaker 2>their finishing move, I asked, because today it feels like

<v Speaker 2>some wrestlers have weak finishers. Bailey's rose plant, for example,

<v Speaker 2>rarely gets much of a reaction, while fans still pop

<v Speaker 2>louder for the Bailey to belly, even though it's no

<v Speaker 2>longer her finish well plant is just a terrible move.

<v Speaker 2>just not at the level where people were really waiting

<v Speaker 2>think of as far as the DDT, it might be

<v Speaker 2>Jimmy Snooks Superfly splash, you know, I know that always

<v Speaker 2>got a big reaction. As far as more modern moves,

<v Speaker 2>DDP got that Diamond Cutter over huge. Randy Orton with

<v Speaker 2>the RKO, I mean Orton basically took it from DDP

<v Speaker 2>and made it his own. Steve Austin with the stunner,

<v Speaker 2>that's the biggest one. That's bigger than anything today RK.

<v Speaker 2>like Austin hitting the stunner at his peak. Closest thing

<v Speaker 2>Bo Dallas. I never thought the Uncle Howdy character was

<v Speaker 2>gonna last. The mask, the fake hare, the overall presentation

<v Speaker 2>came across more like cosplay than something genuinely intimidating. It

<v Speaker 2>was always going to be compared to Bray why It's

<v Speaker 2>Fiend character, and that's almost impossible to live up to.

<v Speaker 2>So I had two ideas that I always wondered about.

<v Speaker 2>The first is whether Bo Dallas could have become a

<v Speaker 2>new version of the Fiend by wearing a redesigned mask

<v Speaker 2>that combined elements of Uncle Howdy and the Fiend into

<v Speaker 2>something original, not just half and half, but a new

<v Speaker 2>monster that represented both characters. The second idea is one

<v Speaker 2>that I like even more. What if the Fiend wasn't

<v Speaker 2>Bray Wyatt himself, but a mantle that someone in the

<v Speaker 2>Wyatt family could inherit. Uncle Howdie realizes that character isn't working,

<v Speaker 2>so he summons or takes the mantle of the Fiend

<v Speaker 2>using the newer Fiend mass that was shown in the

<v Speaker 2>Bray Wyat documentary with the updated design and gear, almost

<v Speaker 2>like the Fiend is an identity that lives on instead

<v Speaker 2>of dying with Bray. Do you think either of those

<v Speaker 2>ideas could have worked.

<v Speaker 2>For whatever reason, it made me think of Friday the Thirteenth,

<v Speaker 2>Part nine, which is, in my opinion, probably the worst

<v Speaker 2>out its welcome. It did more harm than good to

<v Speaker 2>the people he work with. I don't know that anybody

<v Speaker 2>ever really benefited from working against that Fiend character. It's

<v Speaker 2>not the same as like Caine and the og Mask.

<v Speaker 2>When he debuted, that character didn't stifle him in the ring.

<v Speaker 2>Plus he had a manager who did most of the

<v Speaker 2>talking for him. And as time went on he evolved,

<v Speaker 2>he evolved the character, he evolved the mask right the look,

<v Speaker 2>then he lost the mask completely. The Fiend character had

<v Speaker 2>a very short shelf life. Bringing it back with somebody else,

<v Speaker 2>it's only going to be worse, right, It can't possibly

<v Speaker 2>be better than it was with Bray. Would only be worse,

<v Speaker 2>and I just don't see how it's really going to

<v Speaker 2>no tie in. It has nothing to do with Cloverfield.

<v Speaker 2>look good, I've seen a handful of Jurassic Park sequels

<v Speaker 2>any of them. This might be the first dinosaur movie

<v Speaker 2>since the original Jurassic Park that I actually enjoyed or

<v Speaker 2>that I thought was of a quality that was I mean,

<v Speaker 2>it's not Jurassic Park, but like, it's better than a

<v Speaker 2>lot of the sequels I saw. So I enjoyed that

<v Speaker 2>it was not a long movie. It was a little

<v Speaker 2>over ninety minutes, so it didn't you know, overstay.

<v Speaker 1>It's welcome.

<v Speaker 2>And I said this in my letterbox review. I said,

<v Speaker 2>it actually feels more Steven Spielberg ish than Disclosure Day did,

<v Speaker 2>which came out a few months ago. So I enjoyed

<v Speaker 2>it for the most part. I don't think it's great.

<v Speaker 2>I think it's good.

<v Speaker 1>Anne Hathaway was also really good in this.

<v Speaker 2>I don't know how many fucking movies she's been in

<v Speaker 2>this year. My god, it's got to be at least

<v Speaker 2>five at this point. Even as I'm watching the trailers

<v Speaker 2>that came on before the movie, I'm like, holy shit,

<v Speaker 2>there's another Ann Hathaway.

<v Speaker 2>It's this movie called Verity, Like how many movies does

<v Speaker 2>this woman do? She you know what she's doing. She's

<v Speaker 2>making absolutely sure that she locks up locks up the Oscar.

<v Speaker 2>If she can't win the Oscar for the Odyssey, she's

<v Speaker 2>gonna try to win it for one of these other movie.

<v Speaker 2>To be fair, no one's winning any awards for the

<v Speaker 2>End of Oak Street, and I didn't see any of.

<v Speaker 2>Oh man, Well, with any luck, it'll be Indie never

<v Speaker 2>ready winning for Best Actress anyway, or at least.

<v Speaker 1>Getting a nomination.

<v Speaker 2>I was very happy, by the way, to hear that

<v Speaker 2>she is in the next X Men movie and she

<v Speaker 2>is playing Rogue. Nice little fake out there. She's been

<v Speaker 2>out publicly saying she would love to play Mystique, and

<v Speaker 2>then she ends up getting rogue as if she didn't know.

<v Speaker 2>I think she's gonna kill it. She killed it in obsession.

<v Speaker 2>Just the range that she showed in that movie was unbelievable.

<v Speaker 2>So good for her, Ma'm I mean you talk about

<v Speaker 2>I mean she's been making movies for years, like little

<v Speaker 2>movies that nobody even has ever heard of, and all

<v Speaker 2>of a sudden she makes this one film that's, you know,

<v Speaker 2>less than less than a million dollars and now she's

<v Speaker 2>in a fucking Marvel movie. It's quite the step up. Anyway,
