<v Speaker 1>watch the G One Climax Final, but I have watched

<v Speaker 1>it since I talked about it on the Uncrowned Wrestling

<v Speaker 1>Show on Tuesday. I thought it was great. It will

<v Speaker 1>definitely be in the Match of the Year conversation when

<v Speaker 1>I get to my list at the end of the year.

<v Speaker 1>But we had Rio hey Ouwa, one of New Japan's

<v Speaker 1>young rising stars. He bested another one of their young

<v Speaker 1>rising stars in Yoyo Uimura, in the finals to win

<v Speaker 1>the G One and he did so with a headlocks submission,

<v Speaker 1>which just goes to show you that you can make

<v Speaker 1>any move work if you work hard enough to get

<v Speaker 1>the people to believe. And in thirty five minutes they

<v Speaker 1>never left the ring once. I don't think I can

<v Speaker 1>remember that since John Cena and aj Styles have their

<v Speaker 1>match at the Alamodome when Sina one number sixteen, and

<v Speaker 1>yet again for the third straat year, the winner of

<v Speaker 1>the g One will get their shot at the ISWGP

<v Speaker 1>World Heavyweight Championship, not at the Tokyo Dome in January,

<v Speaker 1>but at their King of Pro Wrestling event on October twelve.

<v Speaker 1>Right now, that would be against Yotasuji, but first Suji

<v Speaker 1>has to retain over Hiroki Goto on September twenty seventh.

<v Speaker 1>Same Hiroki Goto, who plays E Honda in the new

<v Speaker 1>Street Fighter movie that comes out in October. It could

<v Speaker 1>be I Honda defending against Oiwa, but I'm gonna wait

<v Speaker 1>to get my ticket for Street Fighter. I did. However,

<v Speaker 1>pre ordering my ticket for Avengers Doomsday, I saw that

<v Speaker 1>it made thirty five million dollars already in pre sales alone,

<v Speaker 1>and the movie doesn't even come out for another four months,

<v Speaker 1>and all the showings of the week that it comes

<v Speaker 1>out are already sold out, so I have to wait

<v Speaker 1>until Christmas Eve to go see it. That should give

<v Speaker 1>me plenty of time, I would think, to play catch up.

<v Speaker 1>I started my little Marvel Madness marathon, I'm calling it.

<v Speaker 1>I watched X Men the other night, the first one

<v Speaker 1>from two thousand. Hugh Jackman is great. I'm not too

<v Speaker 1>hot on that actress who played Rogue in that movie.

<v Speaker 1>Now I got to watch X two. I hear X

<v Speaker 1>two is maybe the best of the bunch, and I

<v Speaker 1>think that should be good enough for the X Men stuff.

<v Speaker 1>Maybe maybe I'll watch whatever Wolverine movies there were Logan

<v Speaker 1>and whatnot. But I don't even think he's in Doomsday.

<v Speaker 1>something else. I did want to mention this, just briefly.

<v Speaker 1>I saw that Rovert passed away the other day. Trevor

<v Speaker 1>Woodhouse was his real name. He went under the handle

<v Speaker 1>soodutw on X, which I never knew stood for South Dublin,

<v Speaker 1>and then his initials. I knew Rovert was Trevor spelled backwards,

<v Speaker 1>but I didn't know the other thing until people were

<v Speaker 1>talking about it online this week, and I know he

<v Speaker 1>followed me on X. Usually he was complimentary of me,

<v Speaker 1>but that wasn't true of a lot of other people.

<v Speaker 1>He said some really foul, really offensive, terrible shit that

<v Speaker 1>should not be celebrated. Probably the most prolific shit poster

<v Speaker 1>in the IWC going back two decades at least. I mean,

<v Speaker 1>he was banned from so many message boards. Who knows

<v Speaker 1>the actual number. Do you know how hard it is

<v Speaker 1>to get banned from some of those message boards. I've

<v Speaker 1>never seen someone who was chronically online the way that

<v Speaker 1>he was. This fucking guy had almost seven hundred thousand

<v Speaker 1>tweets under his account. Seven hundred thousand. That is mind boggling.

<v Speaker 1>Those are intervention numbers, like at that point a friend

<v Speaker 1>or a family member has to step in and take

<v Speaker 1>his phone away. This guy was the ultimate online troll.

<v Speaker 1>I would see people engage with him, like big accounts

<v Speaker 1>that would make the mistake of engaging with him, which

<v Speaker 1>was a no win situation. You were never going to

<v Speaker 1>get the final word in, and he would just drive

<v Speaker 1>them absolutely nuts. He drove a lot of people nuts,

<v Speaker 1>and a lot of them have had some very unkind

<v Speaker 1>things to say about him in death. I'll just say this,

<v Speaker 1>I'm sorry for his family, and I'll leave it at that.

<v Speaker 1>But this was actually trending on X the other day,

<v Speaker 1>so I just felt compelled to say something about it

<v Speaker 1>because it actually became news. I'd be trending too if

<v Speaker 1>I'd posted on there seven hundred thousand times. I never

<v Speaker 1>understood the Fat Joe tweet though, that still confuses me.

<v Speaker 1>That one is still a mystery to me. It was like,

<v Speaker 1>how many years ago, seven or eight years ago Rovert

<v Speaker 1>tweeted something about the roster WWE roster having it out

<v Speaker 1>for Dave Meltzer, but staying silent about their involvement in

<v Speaker 1>the deal, you know, like ww, he's deal with Saudi Arabia.

<v Speaker 1>So it would have been twenty eighteen, probably because it

<v Speaker 1>was the same year they started their deal with the Saudis.

<v Speaker 1>Had nothing to do with Fat Joe, But then all

<v Speaker 1>of a sudden, fucking Fat Joe with his million followers

<v Speaker 1>or whatever he has two years later quote tweets this

<v Speaker 1>and says, you calling me a cornball. That's like the

<v Speaker 1>kettle calling itself Lol. I mean, I guess you could

<v Speaker 1>been since Ilia Dragonov has wrestled a match. Four months

<v Speaker 1>and six days since he was eliminated from the Andre

<v Speaker 1>the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the back down before WrestleMania,

<v Speaker 1>which left us all to speculate for months on why

<v Speaker 1>this man wasn't on TV. Some people thought it might

<v Speaker 1>be injury related. It was not. He's been at the

<v Speaker 1>dungeon with his girlfriend, training with Natty and the rest

<v Speaker 1>of the folks. There no signs of any injury, no

<v Speaker 1>reports of any injuries. Some people thought maybe it was

<v Speaker 1>visa related. Right, A lot of wrestlers in WWE and

<v Speaker 1>AW have been affected by delays to their work visa renewals.

<v Speaker 1>Maybe he was one of them. But four months is

<v Speaker 1>an awful long time to be waiting when most everybody

<v Speaker 1>else has already been back at work. Maybe he got

<v Speaker 1>beamed up to an alien spacecraft. I mean, that would

<v Speaker 1>make about as much sense as anything else. Well, now

<v Speaker 1>we have an update. The Mad Dragon is gone from

<v Speaker 1>WWE Ilia. Dragonov's deal with WWE has expired. He was

<v Speaker 1>removed from their internal roster this week per pw Insider,

<v Speaker 1>and I noticed that he has since been moved to

<v Speaker 1>the alumni section on WWE dot com. Wrestle Votes actually

<v Speaker 1>had an update before all this. It was during a

<v Speaker 1>Q and A session Joey Votes and TC of Wrestle

<v Speaker 1>Votes they addressed Dragonov's disappearance. TC said the issue was

<v Speaker 1>much bigger than creative, simply having nothing for him. It

<v Speaker 1>came down to analytics, he said. They rely on analytics

<v Speaker 1>so much, and if these numbers look bad against you

<v Speaker 1>and not in your favor, they won't use you as much.

<v Speaker 1>Some of these guys are feeling the effects of WWE's

<v Speaker 1>new moneyball approach, where they take numbers, analytics and reporting.

<v Speaker 1>People turn off the TV when this guy is on.

<v Speaker 1>They don't click his name. WWE utilizes these more than

<v Speaker 1>anyone will ever know. These guys are really hurting because

<v Speaker 1>of that. His merch is nothing. He's had one or

<v Speaker 1>two shirts, so there's no man I really like this guy,

<v Speaker 1>I'll buy his T shirt. He's not a priority. And

<v Speaker 1>then in this week's Wrestling Observer newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported

<v Speaker 1>that Dragonov's signed what was termed a very good contract

<v Speaker 1>and it was coming due, and in talks for a

<v Speaker 1>new deal, the sides were far enough apart that the

<v Speaker 1>decision was made in April not to use him anymore.

<v Speaker 1>It was essentially conceded that he was a great worker,

<v Speaker 1>but not a numbers mover, and evidently for the level

<v Speaker 1>of money he was asking and getting, you needed to

<v Speaker 1>be a numbers mover, basically repeating what TC from Wrestle

<v Speaker 1>Boats already said. Brian Alvarez said the two sides were

<v Speaker 1>said to be strongly negotiating a return. As recently as June,

<v Speaker 1>False Finish reported that WWE was planning to bring Dragonoff

<v Speaker 1>back to television after SummerSlam. So the reporting on this

<v Speaker 1>has been a little all over the place. You got

<v Speaker 1>Dave saying that they took him off TV in April

<v Speaker 1>because they were so far apart on the numbers, and

<v Speaker 1>then you got False Finish saying that they were planning

<v Speaker 1>on bringing him back to TV after SummerSlam. Those are

<v Speaker 1>two very different reports. The money stuff would be the

<v Speaker 1>most sensible explanation as to why he's been missing from

<v Speaker 1>TV for the last four months, because nothing else makes

<v Speaker 1>any sense. You know, here's a man who tore his

<v Speaker 1>acl and he missed thirteen months of his career right

<v Speaker 1>to fight his way back, and in his first match

<v Speaker 1>he beat Sammy z Ain to win the United States

<v Speaker 1>Championship and then he went on a great run of

<v Speaker 1>matches over the next few months. That US Title Open

<v Speaker 1>Challenge gimmick that Sammy's Ain revived back in September was

<v Speaker 1>the highlight of that show for months. He passed it

<v Speaker 1>on to Dragonov, who then passed it on to Carmelo Hayes.

<v Speaker 1>Dragonov had some great matches with Nathan Fraser and Axiom

<v Speaker 1>and JD McDonough and Tamaso Champa, and then he lost

<v Speaker 1>it later on to Hayes, another guy who was brought

<v Speaker 1>to SmackDown is There a number one draft pick and

<v Speaker 1>summarily buried deep in the mid card for months and months.

<v Speaker 1>And it was only after they put the US title

<v Speaker 1>on Mellow that he had the chance to really start

<v Speaker 1>getting over with the crowds. You know, he got over

<v Speaker 1>based on his in ring input. And it was the

<v Speaker 1>same thing with Dragonov that you can say, oh, he

<v Speaker 1>didn't show much of a person on TV, but I mean,

<v Speaker 1>fucking a, he knew how to go out there and

<v Speaker 1>find a way to get the crowd invested in his matches.

<v Speaker 1>Even if they were quiet at the beginning, by the

<v Speaker 1>time they were over, he had them and it felt like, Okay,

<v Speaker 1>this is working. This is something that we can build

<v Speaker 1>on here. Right after he drops the belt, hopefully they

<v Speaker 1>can get him involved in some stories now instead of

<v Speaker 1>just having random open challenge matches. Because that was always

<v Speaker 1>going to have a short shelf life. But this is

<v Speaker 1>something that we can build on. And they did a

<v Speaker 1>little story, if you could call it that, where he

<v Speaker 1>lost his confidence. Melo was trying to tell him, you know,

<v Speaker 1>you're ilia dragon off. He's trying to pump him back up,

<v Speaker 1>and eventually he found his confidence, but then he lost

<v Speaker 1>to Melo again and that was it. He never did

<v Speaker 1>anything else of significance again on the show. But it

<v Speaker 1>goes back even before that. It goes back to the

<v Speaker 1>Royal Rumble and that spot with Brock Lesner where he

<v Speaker 1>delivered those chops to Lesnar in the corner, these hard

<v Speaker 1>knife fetch chops and Brock just stood there and knows

<v Speaker 1>so and he screamed in his face, may as well

<v Speaker 1>have laughed in the man's face before dumping him out

<v Speaker 1>of the ring like a sack of garbage. How do

<v Speaker 1>you watch something like that and your big takeaway is

<v Speaker 1>somehow this is a positive for the guy. He never

<v Speaker 1>even so much as won another match on TV after that.

<v Speaker 1>He got beat by Toma Tonga, he got beat by Mellow,

<v Speaker 1>and he got dumped out of the Andre Battle Royal

<v Speaker 1>by Alistair Black, who doesn't even work there anymore. Something

<v Speaker 1>happened unrelated to his contract status, because at that point

<v Speaker 1>his contract wasn't up for another seven or eight months

<v Speaker 1>from December until that Battle Royal. Something happened, something changed

<v Speaker 1>that soured them on him again. TC of Wreussell Votes

<v Speaker 1>said that it was the analytics. They simply weren't in

<v Speaker 1>his favor. It's their moneyball approach. Yes, the same moneyball

<v Speaker 1>approach that won Billy Bean exactly zero championships. Let's rely

<v Speaker 1>on the moneyball approach with WWE. You know, the thing

<v Speaker 1>about those metrics and analytics is that you're only as

<v Speaker 1>good as the opportunities that are afforded to you. Right.

<v Speaker 1>I can't speak to what the quarter hours look like

<v Speaker 1>when Dragonov was on TV or what his merch numbers were.

<v Speaker 1>Best as I can tell, he had one T shirt

<v Speaker 1>that was it. But with those live crowds, he was

<v Speaker 1>getting over. He was getting over, and they squandered it.

<v Speaker 1>Because the only way something has a chance to work

<v Speaker 1>is if you keep at it. You keep giving him

<v Speaker 1>consistent TV time. You try to build on that and

<v Speaker 1>create some momentum for the guy. He had one win

<v Speaker 1>on television this year that was in January against the

<v Speaker 1>fucking Miz. They gave up on this guy faster than

<v Speaker 1>a Gunther tapped to j Uso a WrestleMania last year.

<v Speaker 1>Why because he didn't have a catchphrase they could slap

<v Speaker 1>on a T shirt. Dragonov was one of the best

<v Speaker 1>wrestlers bell to bell in the entire company. Every time

<v Speaker 1>he was in that ring, he would sell his ass

<v Speaker 1>off like he was in the fight of his life.

<v Speaker 1>He had an intensity about him that made him stand

<v Speaker 1>out from everybody else, and he ended up on the

<v Speaker 1>same roster with Gunther, the man that he beat to

<v Speaker 1>win the nxt UK Championship. The wars those men had,

<v Speaker 1>if we're being honest, I mean they were never going

<v Speaker 1>to be able to top those on the main roster,

<v Speaker 1>But that doesn't mean you don't run that feedback. Gunther

<v Speaker 1>would have been the perfect opponent for him. Those two

<v Speaker 1>would have brought out the best in each other, and

<v Speaker 1>even if he would have lost in the end, I

<v Speaker 1>think it would have really helped level him up on

<v Speaker 1>that roster. Now right now would have been the perfect

<v Speaker 1>time to do it, because Gunther has no real direction

<v Speaker 1>either at the moment, right what's he doing? He's not

<v Speaker 1>doing a whole lot of anything. Right now, they have

<v Speaker 1>him out there wrestling mac Cardona and his slacks, the

<v Speaker 1>same Mac Cardonah who hasn't won a match on SmackDown

<v Speaker 1>since January. Sound familiar. Now we see where they had

<v Speaker 1>him slotted this entire time. If I work for that company,

<v Speaker 1>that's not the spot that I would want to be

<v Speaker 1>in if I were him. But this would have been

<v Speaker 1>the perfect time for Gunther and dragon Enough to work together.

<v Speaker 1>Except it sounds like Dragonov already had his mind made

<v Speaker 1>up that he was leaving. And why wouldn't he He's

<v Speaker 1>not a stupid guy. He could see the writing on

<v Speaker 1>the wall. They put a ceiling on him, and evidently

<v Speaker 1>didn't feel that he was worth the money that they

<v Speaker 1>were paying him. Why would he stay? Why would he

<v Speaker 1>sign a new deal for presumably less money, just to

<v Speaker 1>sit on the bench for the next three years or

<v Speaker 1>until they swept him out the door with the rest

<v Speaker 1>of the expendables. I don't blame him for wanting to leave,

<v Speaker 1>And here's why. And maybe this is the realization that

<v Speaker 1>he came to know Dan Housen his somebing I mentioned

<v Speaker 1>that his merch numbers weren't there. Well, Dan Housen is

<v Speaker 1>the opposite. Dan Housen is selling all kinds of merch

<v Speaker 1>and that's why they were just abusing him on television.

<v Speaker 1>They were featuring him so much. I'm happy they've dialed

<v Speaker 1>it back a lot with him. But you want to

<v Speaker 1>use Dan Housen as an example or Jay usso right,

<v Speaker 1>I'm sure he's a merch machine to all the Yeat stuff.

<v Speaker 1>This is no longer a pro wrestling company, and I'm

<v Speaker 1>not saying that this is some new thing. I just realized.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, he's been that way for a while now,

<v Speaker 1>especially under TKO. WWE is not a pro wrestling company.

<v Speaker 1>Ilia Dragonov is a professional wrestler working for a company

<v Speaker 1>that does not put a priority on professional wrestling. So

<v Speaker 1>he wasn't a good fit for them, and I think

<v Speaker 1>he realizes that and he decided, you know what, my

<v Speaker 1>services would be better of being put to you somewhere else.

<v Speaker 1>WWE's usage of dragon Off at the start of this

<v Speaker 1>year is more of a self fulfilling prophecy than anything else.

<v Speaker 1>If they believe something to be true, many times they

<v Speaker 1>will end up finding a way to prove that they

<v Speaker 1>were right. Oh he doesn't draw or oh the analytics

<v Speaker 1>aren't supporting him. Yes, well, when you vanish from television,

<v Speaker 1>you become a ghost. That's not going to make the

<v Speaker 1>analytics go up. How long are they giving these guys

<v Speaker 1>before they give up on them? Six weeks? There are

<v Speaker 1>others far less talented than him that have been given

<v Speaker 1>chance after chance after chance to get over on TV.

<v Speaker 1>You'll get that chance if you're one of their favorites,

<v Speaker 1>and if you're not, then you won't. You can't take

<v Speaker 1>somebody off television for weeks or months on end and

<v Speaker 1>expect people to give a shit. Consistency is key. This

<v Speaker 1>is true of WWE, It's true of AW, which has

<v Speaker 1>an enormous roster of talent, many of whom can't get

<v Speaker 1>consistent TV time because there are only so many hours

<v Speaker 1>of television and they just have far too many people

<v Speaker 1>under contract. So people fall through the cracks, or they

<v Speaker 1>get on TV and then we don't see them again

<v Speaker 1>for six weeks. How can you expect someone to get

<v Speaker 1>over that way? You can't, It's not possible. It tells

<v Speaker 1>the audience that you don't matter, you're not a priority.

<v Speaker 1>So something happened earlier in the year that basically caused

<v Speaker 1>them to give up on them. And again I don't

<v Speaker 1>care that in April they made the decision to take

<v Speaker 1>them off TV because or keep him off TV was

<v Speaker 1>already mostly off TV because oh we're far apart on

<v Speaker 1>the numbers. Forget April, this goes back long before that,

<v Speaker 1>this pre day to April. That's why I say something

<v Speaker 1>happened here. They gave up on the guy far too quickly.

<v Speaker 1>I thought it was very telling during the WrestleMania bill

<v Speaker 1>when they had Pat McAfee on television, they put a

<v Speaker 1>live mic in his hand and he's on television complaining

<v Speaker 1>about how he has to watch two five foot five

<v Speaker 1>guys doing a forty five minute iron Man match ten

<v Speaker 1>weeks straight for no rhyme or reason, and people took

<v Speaker 1>that as a shot at aw and maybe it was.

<v Speaker 1>But it also makes me think about all those US

<v Speaker 1>Title open challenges with the smaller guys that we were

<v Speaker 1>wins over Trick Williams. They don't look like big casts

<v Speaker 1>who's feet tall and you can't teach that. And he's

<v Speaker 1>out there on television destroying people every week. Yes he's

<v Speaker 1>not that, but what does it say about them that

<v Speaker 1>they would even allow something like that to be said

<v Speaker 1>on their TV. It's not like they've done much since

<v Speaker 1>then to prove McAfee wrong. I guarantee you this is

<v Speaker 1>how some of the people sitting in that writer's room think,

<v Speaker 1>if not Triple H himself, which is wild to me,

<v Speaker 1>considering all of the success that he had, you know,

<v Speaker 1>with NXT Black and Gold, you would think that he

<v Speaker 1>would give these guys a little bit longer of a

<v Speaker 1>leash before, you know, giving up on them, because he

<v Speaker 1>knows what these guys can do. They brought him a

<v Speaker 1>lot of success all those many years ago, and you

<v Speaker 1>can't tell me that with the right story and the

<v Speaker 1>right people put together, that they can't find that same

<v Speaker 1>success on the main roster. I'm not even saying that

<v Speaker 1>these guys are going to be in the cmpunk position

<v Speaker 1>of the Roman Reigns. Position is the world heavyweight champion.

<v Speaker 1>I'm not saying that. But you see how some of

<v Speaker 1>these guys were used or not used, and how quickly

<v Speaker 1>they give up on some them, And it's just depressing

<v Speaker 1>to watch Dragonov choosing not to take whatever it was

<v Speaker 1>they were offering and allowing his contract to expire. Tells

<v Speaker 1>me that he knew he had no future there if

<v Speaker 1>he stayed. So my hope for him is this. My

<v Speaker 1>hope for Dragonov would be, honestly, that he gets a

<v Speaker 1>Mike Santana like run. And what I mean by that

<v Speaker 1>is Mike Santana also missed a lot of time due

<v Speaker 1>to a torn acl He missed fourteen months. Dragonov missed thirteen,

<v Speaker 1>and when Santana came back to AEW, he didn't spend

<v Speaker 1>much time there after that because he wasn't happy there.

<v Speaker 1>He also saw the writing on the wall and said,

<v Speaker 1>there's no way I'm ever going to find any real

<v Speaker 1>success as a singles here. This roster is too bloated.

<v Speaker 1>Or maybe he felt Tony didn't see him in that

<v Speaker 1>same light. I don't know what it was, but he

<v Speaker 1>knew that his future was bleak if he had set

<v Speaker 1>certain goals for himself as a singles wrestler. Aw is

<v Speaker 1>not going to be the place to achieve those goals,

<v Speaker 1>and if he wanted to get an opportunity to find

<v Speaker 1>success on his own, he would have to do it

<v Speaker 1>somewhere else. So he left and he worked the indies,

<v Speaker 1>he worked TNA, and he got himself over as a

<v Speaker 1>world champion enough so that WWE came calling. So obviously

<v Speaker 1>the guy did something right. Dragonov is only thirty two

<v Speaker 1>years old. Who's to say he won't end up back

<v Speaker 1>in WWE at some point. His style seems like it

<v Speaker 1>would be a better fit elsewhere anyway, because pro wrestling

<v Speaker 1>is the guy strong suit, that's his bread and butter.

<v Speaker 1>I think his style would fit perfectly in a place

<v Speaker 1>like Japan. Imagine Dragon of in next year's g One.

<v Speaker 1>But he's not going to make the money in Japan

<v Speaker 1>that he was making in WWE, and if they were

<v Speaker 1>so far apart on numbers here, money is going to

<v Speaker 1>be a factor. I don't know that they could afford

<v Speaker 1>someone like him. Why do you think so many guys

<v Speaker 1>have left Japan to begin with because they want to

<v Speaker 1>make money? Same with TNA. What could they really afford

<v Speaker 1>to pay him Japan or AW I'm guessing we'll see

<v Speaker 1>him in that Casine Gauntlet match at Wembley next weekend.

<v Speaker 1>Because he's free and clear right now, he can pop

<v Speaker 1>up wherever he wants. When your contract expires, there's no noncompete,

<v Speaker 1>there's no ninety days. That's only when they give you

<v Speaker 1>a notice that they intend to release you. That's not

<v Speaker 1>what this was. So he's free and clear. He could

<v Speaker 1>show up tomorrow, he could show up anytime anywhere he

<v Speaker 1>wants to, and there just so happens to be a

<v Speaker 1>big show coming up in London next weekend. Would not

<v Speaker 1>shock me. It's a running joke at this point about

<v Speaker 1>Tony Kahan signing all of these EXWWE guys. You know,

<v Speaker 1>he signed the MotorCity Machine Guns to debut them in

<v Speaker 1>Detroit last month, and what have they done, Sids. They

<v Speaker 1>haven't even had a match yet. But whether it's Seamus

<v Speaker 1>or the New Day, certain guys are a no brainer.

<v Speaker 1>Dragon Enough, to me, is a no brainer to work

<v Speaker 1>with the people that Tony has on that roster. I mean,

<v Speaker 1>are you kidding me? Look at the roster of talent

<v Speaker 1>Tony Khan has and then picture ilia Dragonff going out

<v Speaker 1>there and doing what he does best and working with

<v Speaker 1>those people and sure, he'll probably just end up as

<v Speaker 1>a collider on Saturdays. Is that what they are their colliders.

<v Speaker 1>As long as they don't just toss him into the

<v Speaker 1>fucking don Kallis family, then he'll probably do okay. But

<v Speaker 1>AW seems like it would be a better fit for

<v Speaker 1>him anyway. Plus I love the idea of him being

<v Speaker 1>in this year's Continental Classic. Just selfishly, I think that

<v Speaker 1>would be fucking great if he ended up in that tournament.

<v Speaker 1>could still work Japanese dates if he wants to. He

<v Speaker 1>could work dates for CMLL or indies. At least he

<v Speaker 1>can work. Anything is better than nothing. The Indies would

<v Speaker 1>may be welcoming a lot of other people soon also,

<v Speaker 1>other WWE main roster contracts of people who have not

<v Speaker 1>been on TV coming due in October. As for aew,

<v Speaker 1>I've been given the impression that there are a lot

<v Speaker 1>of contracts that Tony is not going to cut, but

<v Speaker 1>they will quietly expire. There's going to come a time

<v Speaker 1>six months or a year down the road where there's

<v Speaker 1>going to be a lot of people available. I think

<v Speaker 1>either the indies will blow up again or some other

<v Speaker 1>promotion has got to come along and see what they

<v Speaker 1>can do. This quote unquote glory period of twenty twenty

<v Speaker 1>to twenty twenty five where if you had any name whatsoever,

<v Speaker 1>you were signed somewhere making a lot of money. Those

<v Speaker 1>days are coming to an end. This was inevitable. You know,

<v Speaker 1>AW was only going to be able to take so

<v Speaker 1>many people. There was always going to be a reconting

<v Speaker 1>at some point. While you know, also they pay people

<v Speaker 1>to do absolutely nothing. In some cases you never see

<v Speaker 1>them at all on TV. But obviously Tony is paying

<v Speaker 1>them and WWE under TKO, unless you're a top, top star,

<v Speaker 1>they're not going to pay what they were paying under

<v Speaker 1>Vince McMahon years ago when they were trying to keep

<v Speaker 1>talent away from AW. Tony has always done that like

<v Speaker 1>that aspect of AW, where Tony's not going to cut them,

<v Speaker 1>but he's going to quietly let their contracts expire. That

<v Speaker 1>is not news. That is Tony COHN'SMO. Rarely does he

<v Speaker 1>release or fire someone unless they either request it and

<v Speaker 1>then it's fifty to fifty if he grants it or

<v Speaker 1>if there's some sort of disciplinary reason for him doing so.

<v Speaker 1>And again that's very very rare, but there have been

<v Speaker 1>occasions where that's happened. But generally speaking, this is what

<v Speaker 1>he does. He'll pay you, he'll honor your contract and

<v Speaker 1>pay you, but if he doesn't want you, he'll just

<v Speaker 1>let it quietly expire, which I mean, look, at least

<v Speaker 1>he's honoring the deal he made with you. I'm not

<v Speaker 1>a big fan of him keeping people under lock and

<v Speaker 1>key who he's not using, who are desperate to leave,

<v Speaker 1>and we've talked about that in the past, whether it's

<v Speaker 1>Ray Phoenix or Ricky Starks or people like that. But

<v Speaker 1>at least he's honoring the deal that he made with you.

<v Speaker 1>That's more than I can say for WWE. They'll sign

<v Speaker 1>you to a five year contract and then turn around

<v Speaker 1>and fire you six months later. There's no such thing

<v Speaker 1>as job secure. If you work for WWE, they expect

<v Speaker 1>you to honor your commitment, but it only works one way.

<v Speaker 1>They can terminate their commitment to you whenever they feel

<v Speaker 1>like it. You do the same to them, they'll take

<v Speaker 1>your ass to court and they'll bankrupt you, which is

<v Speaker 1>why rarely does anybody challenge them on anything. But I

<v Speaker 1>look at that roster. You know, if you're someone like

<v Speaker 1>Jordan Grace or Johnny Gargano laying on a crate every

<v Speaker 1>single week, I genuinely wonder how much time they really

<v Speaker 1>have left there. You know, if you're not being used,

<v Speaker 1>you're on the bubble. It's as simple as that. Even

<v Speaker 1>if you are being used, as we saw with Kyrie saying,

<v Speaker 1>you're still not safe for aw There was news this

<v Speaker 1>week that they might be considering a return for Britt

<v Speaker 1>Baker for their special Rebel Heart episode of Dynamite on

<v Speaker 1>September ninth. Since Britton Rebel, they're good friends, and that

<v Speaker 1>episode is to honor Rebel and raise awareness for als.

<v Speaker 1>Maybe we'll see Britt Baker back on television next month.

<v Speaker 1>But Britain Baker is definitely one of those names where

<v Speaker 1>I think Tony just runs her deal out and what

<v Speaker 1>it expires, she's gone. He hasn't used her in two years.

<v Speaker 1>She hasn't wrestled at all in two years. I don't

<v Speaker 1>know what that's about. I don't know what's stopping her

<v Speaker 1>from booking some indie shots here and there. If she

<v Speaker 1>wanted to work indies. She clearly doesn't want to, because

<v Speaker 1>if she wanted to, she'd be out there. But yeah,

<v Speaker 1>there will come a point very soon where a lot

<v Speaker 1>of these wrestlers, unless they are a major name off TV,

<v Speaker 1>they're going to find that the money may not be

<v Speaker 1>as good as it once was. That well is going

<v Speaker 1>to dry up a little bit. TNA is not going

<v Speaker 1>to be able to afford them. I mean, they may

<v Speaker 1>pick up a few people, but you see what TNA

<v Speaker 1>is doing. You see these same reports that I see.

<v Speaker 1>They're signing so and so, and this isn't universal. Some

<v Speaker 1>people will sign maybe a longer term deal, but so

<v Speaker 1>many of these contracts are short term, like ninety day deals,

<v Speaker 1>four months, six months. They can't make the kind of

<v Speaker 1>long term financial commitments to people the WWE and AW can.

<v Speaker 1>So TNA is an eye option. Is TNA a viable option?

<v Speaker 1>Not for all of these people. It's not without AW.

<v Speaker 1>Imagine how much worse it would be without that number two.

<v Speaker 1>That's why WWE counter programs against them. It wants to

<v Speaker 1>run them out on a rail. I think it all

<v Speaker 1>boils down to one thing. Money and aw driving up

<v Speaker 1>wrestler salaries these last six or seven years. They want

<v Speaker 1>them gone or at least weakened so those salaries can

<v Speaker 1>normalize again. They wanted to go back to the way

<v Speaker 1>it was before aaw ever existed, where they're the only

<v Speaker 1>big game in town and they'll offer whatever they think

<v Speaker 1>you're worth and not a penny more. The bubble was

<v Speaker 1>bound to burst. Let's bounce around between Ron SmackDown some

<v Speaker 1>of the key stuff this week. SmackDown on Friday was

<v Speaker 1>the highest grossing of any they've ever done in Toronto.

<v Speaker 1>They had a packed house, which makes it all the

<v Speaker 1>worse that that's the show they ended up giving those people.

<v Speaker 1>But the reason they got fifteen thousand plus in that

<v Speaker 1>arena was for the WWE Championship match between Kevin Owens

<v Speaker 1>and Cmpunk. It was a one match show on Friday.

<v Speaker 1>The rest of that show was dreadful, so I was

<v Speaker 1>hoping they would give those two time to go out

<v Speaker 1>there and have a great one, and they did. They

<v Speaker 1>got nineteen minutes and it was great until the finish,

<v Speaker 1>which was not but I expected it. It did bring

<v Speaker 1>the match down, and otherwise great main event was brought

<v Speaker 1>down by this convoluted finish here, and what happened was

<v Speaker 1>Sammy z Ain of course, had to involve himself because

<v Speaker 1>Sammy's Ain has been screwed over time and time and

<v Speaker 1>time again, and he was screwed over last week. He

<v Speaker 1>was supposed to wrestle Cody Rhodes. Nick Aldas promised him,

<v Speaker 1>if you can beat Cody, you'll get the first shot

<v Speaker 1>at whoever wins this match here this week between Punk

<v Speaker 1>and Owens. Apparently that cast or sleeve or whatever it

<v Speaker 1>is that Sammy is sporting on his arm for his hand.

<v Speaker 1>He has a legitimate broken hand. I don't get the

<v Speaker 1>sense that it's something that's going to keep him out

<v Speaker 1>for an extended period of time. But that's why he

<v Speaker 1>didn't wrestle last week, because he can. He's not medically cleared.

<v Speaker 1>But he never even got his match. He was left

<v Speaker 1>in a lurch yet again, and that's how SmackDown opened

<v Speaker 1>on Friday. He was bitching to Nick Aldos in the back,

<v Speaker 1>so it seemed pretty clear he was probably going to

<v Speaker 1>involve himself, and we got the obligatory ref bump and

<v Speaker 1>then Sammy got involved. He tried to help Owens win

<v Speaker 1>and it backfired Owens then didn't want his help, so

<v Speaker 1>he clabbered Owens in the head with the w WE

<v Speaker 1>Championship and he stumbled back into a GTS and Punk

<v Speaker 1>pinned him and he retained the title. And when the

<v Speaker 1>match is over, Sammy attacked Punk, Owens tried to come

<v Speaker 1>after him. He hit Owens again, then he hit Punk again,

<v Speaker 1>and the final person left standing holding the WWE Championship

<v Speaker 1>at the end of SmackDown was not CM Punk, and

<v Speaker 1>it was not Kevin Owens. It was Sammy's at which

<v Speaker 1>would lead you to believe that there is a triple

<v Speaker 1>threat match in coming here with all three of these men.

<v Speaker 1>There were reports this week that the match between Punk

<v Speaker 1>and Owens was supposed to be a one and done.

<v Speaker 1>Maybe they meant in terms of a singles match. I

<v Speaker 1>certainly hope it's not one and done, but the way

<v Speaker 1>things were set up here, you would think that we're

<v Speaker 1>gonna get a three way unless the idea is just

<v Speaker 1>to have Owens and Zane branch out again and just

<v Speaker 1>feud with each other again and have Punk move on

<v Speaker 1>to something else. But Sammy Zain was the one holding

<v Speaker 1>up that championship when that show is over, So this

<v Speaker 1>is a triple threat feud that we have here. I

<v Speaker 1>don't know when they would do that match. I don't

<v Speaker 1>know that they're going to add it to Sunday Night's

<v Speaker 1>main event, because that card's already filling up. Generally on

<v Speaker 1>those Peacock shows, they have what four matches, maybe sometimes

<v Speaker 1>not even so I don't know if it's going to

<v Speaker 1>happen there. They have no other pl though, outside of

<v Speaker 1>World's Collide at the end of September, and that's this

<v Speaker 1>match is not happening on that show because that just

<v Speaker 1>doesn't seem like the right venue for it. So if

<v Speaker 1>not Sunday Nights main event, it could be a TV

<v Speaker 1>main event in September, or it could be a money

<v Speaker 1>in the bank match. The thing is Punk is not

<v Speaker 1>currently advertised for money in the Bank, and they released

<v Speaker 1>his entire scale through the end of October. At least

<v Speaker 1>as of a few weeks ago, he is not scheduled

<v Speaker 1>to be on that show. So I don't know when

<v Speaker 1>we're gonna get it, But I know there were a

<v Speaker 1>lot of people who were very deflated last night. They

<v Speaker 1>were really hoping Kevin Owens would get the NOD and

<v Speaker 1>they would put the Championship on him, even just for

<v Speaker 1>a short period of time. He has lost every single

<v Speaker 1>WWE Championship match that he has been given over the

<v Speaker 1>last decade. It we're in the double digits now he's

<v Speaker 1>got Someone said it in the live chat last night.

<v Speaker 1>They said Kevin Owens, but the O is a zero,

<v Speaker 1>and then it was Dash and then the word wins

<v Speaker 1>Kevin O wins. Yes, that's exactly what it is. He

<v Speaker 1>never wins in these situations, whether it doesn't matter who

<v Speaker 1>it is, from Roman all the way now to Punk.

<v Speaker 1>This man cannot win the ww Championship. Now, the fact

<v Speaker 1>that Sammy was able to win it in Saudi a

<v Speaker 1>few months ago, you can never say never. If Sammy

<v Speaker 1>Zaying can win the ww title, you would have to

<v Speaker 1>imagine you would hope that at some point OS would

<v Speaker 1>get a run. Right now, it looks like that is

<v Speaker 1>not going to happen anytime in the near future or

<v Speaker 1>even in the longer term future. But I feel it.

<v Speaker 1>going to serve him up for Roman Reigns, and Solo

<v Speaker 1>Soco was going to be forced back into the bloodline,

<v Speaker 1>and they went through this whole you know rigmarole here

<v Speaker 1>where they brought Solo to the ring and Roman is saying,

<v Speaker 1>I never forget. I'm petty, I have receipts. He played

<v Speaker 1>footage from when they had their tribal combat match on

<v Speaker 1>the first Raw on Netflix last year, which according to

<v Speaker 1>Roman Reigns, was three years ago, so his timeline was

<v Speaker 1>just a little bit off. But he's browbeating Solo in

<v Speaker 1>the middle of the ring here and then he has

<v Speaker 1>these black Uhla follows that were prepared and he places

<v Speaker 1>them around the next of Jimmy and jay Usso. They

<v Speaker 1>are his captains, he says, and it's just funny to me,

<v Speaker 1>and I brought this up the other night where I

<v Speaker 1>can remember a segment a few years ago on Row

<v Speaker 1>when Jay Uso really had broken out on his own

<v Speaker 1>and after Roman had lost a championship and Jay didn't

<v Speaker 1>like Roman. Jay didn't want to have anything to do

<v Speaker 1>with Roman, and he said, the only way that this

<v Speaker 1>works where we can kind of be back together again

<v Speaker 1>as a family, is if you treat me as an equal.

<v Speaker 1>If we're not equals, then this doesn't work. And Roman said, oh, sure,

<v Speaker 1>it'll be an equal. Apparently all of that has been forgotten.

<v Speaker 1>All of that is like it never even happens. Now.

<v Speaker 1>They're his captains, they have their their position is clearly

<v Speaker 1>beneath roman reigns, and they seem to be okay with

<v Speaker 1>the j Uso is okay with it. Jacob Fatu is

<v Speaker 1>not okay with the fact that these men were presented

<v Speaker 1>with these black ula fallas, and as many of you

<v Speaker 1>pointed out, Jacob I think was presented with one of

<v Speaker 1>his own some time ago. I don't remember if it

<v Speaker 1>was black or not, but whatever it was, he saw

<v Speaker 1>this and he had a look on his face like

<v Speaker 1>he was not happy at all. It's like he's being

<v Speaker 1>treated like a second class citizen. The Ussos who he

<v Speaker 1>doesn't like, or at least he doesn't like Jay, are

<v Speaker 1>being treated a lot better than him, and he doesn't

<v Speaker 1>like it. They're really leaning in hard on this idea

<v Speaker 1>that Jacob looked like he was about to explode, And

<v Speaker 1>when the segment was over, the big payoff here, the

<v Speaker 1>big climax to this segment was La Knight coming out.

<v Speaker 1>He ends up getting beaten down and Roman Wan Solo

<v Speaker 1>to spike La Knight right his new friend. Well, instead

<v Speaker 1>of spiking La Night, he spiked Roman Ragns and everybody

<v Speaker 1>went nuts, and then basically the La Night and Solo

<v Speaker 1>Sokoa fought off all the members of the blood Line.

<v Speaker 1>Jacob Fatu he just stood there in the corner because

<v Speaker 1>when he was going to do the tongue in death

<v Speaker 1>grip to I believe La Night, Roman backed him up

<v Speaker 1>into the corner and basically yelled at him and told

<v Speaker 1>him in so many words like I told you guys

<v Speaker 1>last week, you don't put your hands on him. He's mine,

<v Speaker 1>he's not yours. What are you doing and just saying

<v Speaker 1>all these things and embarrassing Jacob in front of the world.

<v Speaker 1>as Roman was being beaten down and bfted, Jacob just

<v Speaker 1>stood there and did nothing. And so you would watch

<v Speaker 1>this and you would think, are they really gonna do it?

<v Speaker 1>Are they really going to do it at Money in

<v Speaker 1>the Bank, especially because they didn't pull the trigger on

<v Speaker 1>Kevin Owens on SmackDown and they gave us the predictably

<v Speaker 1>lame finish. Will they do the same at Money in

<v Speaker 1>the Bank? And if they do, what kind of message

<v Speaker 1>does that send when you have two guys and Kevin

<v Speaker 1>Owens in La Knight, who the fans love, but they

<v Speaker 1>can't win a world title, to say their lives right,

<v Speaker 1>to get people's hopes up, and then beat them back

<v Speaker 1>to back like that, I don't think that sends a

<v Speaker 1>very good message at all. You know, we learned this

<v Speaker 1>week that WWE is headed back to Saudi Arabia in

<v Speaker 1>November for Crown Jewel with the plan to have the

<v Speaker 1>top champions on each show face off again for the

<v Speaker 1>Crown Jewel Belts as they've been doing, which means that

<v Speaker 1>as of this moment, unless La Night beats Roman, reigns

<v Speaker 1>or Penta beats Roman Reigns. If he goes to the

<v Speaker 1>finals and wins that Luca Tournament, then the Crown Jewel

<v Speaker 1>title match would be a rematch from WrestleMania forty two,

<v Speaker 1>with Roman Reigns against them Punk and as great as

<v Speaker 1>their WrestleMania match was, do we really need to get

<v Speaker 1>it again so that Punk can get his win back?

<v Speaker 1>Would Punk even get his win back? I can't imagine

<v Speaker 1>Punk would be too happy about lying down for Roman

<v Speaker 1>twice in the same year. And since Kevin Owens already

<v Speaker 1>failed to win the WWE Championship, that would leave Roman

<v Speaker 1>to lose his belt before November. So maybe it would

<v Speaker 1>be Punk against La Knight on that show. But just

<v Speaker 1>the idea of La Knight beating Roman rains. It makes

<v Speaker 1>all the sense in the world the way the Bloodline

<v Speaker 1>stuff is set up right now for Jacob to say

<v Speaker 1>enough when it comes to Roman and do the split there.

<v Speaker 1>I just can't trust them to do the right thing

<v Speaker 1>book Obafemi and bron Breaker. They seemingly have been on

<v Speaker 1>a collision course now for the last couple of weeks

<v Speaker 1>with them, nothing terribly long, but they did make it official.

<v Speaker 1>For Sunday Night's main event in Atlanta on September sixth,

<v Speaker 1>we are getting the first match between Obafemi and bron Breaker,

<v Speaker 1>and right smack dab in the middle of all this

<v Speaker 1>was Paul Hayman. Hayman came out there. Hayman was the

<v Speaker 1>one who told you know, bron Breaker that you know

<v Speaker 1>he had spoken to Adam Pearce and he made the

<v Speaker 1>match official for that show. Bron was very happy about this,

<v Speaker 1>and Bron was leaving and waiting for Paul to come

<v Speaker 1>with him, and then he turned back and he saw

<v Speaker 1>Paul shaking hands with Obafemi before he left the ring,

<v Speaker 1>and all of a sudden, that big smile on Bron's

<v Speaker 1>face turned to a look of rage and anger. And

<v Speaker 1>now he's questioning everything. He's paranoid. So Paul Hayman now

<v Speaker 1>is going to be the centerpiece He's gonna be the

<v Speaker 1>focal point now of this feud in this match. As

<v Speaker 1>we head into that show, Russell Votes Radio is reporting

<v Speaker 1>that Bronson Reid, his name has been making waves internally.

<v Speaker 1>looking jacked. This also tells me that he's getting involved

<v Speaker 1>in that Oba and Bron match and he's either causing

<v Speaker 1>a d Q or he's helping Bron break or beat Obafemi.

<v Speaker 1>see him in Atlanta in a few weeks, and then

<v Speaker 1>they can branch off into Obafemi against Bronson Reed and

<v Speaker 1>big angle after the match where Osprey came out, Omega

<v Speaker 1>called him an English bitch, and when security went to

<v Speaker 1>go pull Ospray away from him, Omega cheap shot at

<v Speaker 1>him with a V trigger and then planted him through

<v Speaker 1>a table off the apron to the floor with a

<v Speaker 1>one winged angel and he had the crazy eyes. In fact,

<v Speaker 1>I think Kenny made that his new avatar and X

<v Speaker 1>night Willow showed up on Dynamite as Women's World Champion.

<v Speaker 1>even though I think it sucks that Tekla has no

<v Speaker 1>story of her own for Wembley. Yeah, that could always

<v Speaker 1>change this week, but I mean, even if it does,

<v Speaker 1>to come up with something for her to do last

<v Speaker 1>minute is fucking lame. We also had a pair of

<v Speaker 1>quarterfinal matches in the Continental Cup tournament, with John Moxley

<v Speaker 1>beating Switchblade Jay Whites and Nigel McGinnis's ankle injury and

<v Speaker 1>all beating Hetcha Sero. Yes, the CMLL World Champion was

<v Speaker 1>beaten by a one legged announcer. Tony would never Tony

<v Speaker 1>Khan would never allow one of his champions to be

<v Speaker 1>treated in another promotion the way that some of these

<v Speaker 1>CMLL folks are treated on TV. I'm still not sure

<v Speaker 1>if the injury is legit or if it's just part

<v Speaker 1>of a story that they've concocted. I assume it's all

<v Speaker 1>just kind of a worked angle here for the benefit

<v Speaker 1>of Nigel having to overcome some sort of burden to

<v Speaker 1>get to the finals of this tournament. He was supposed

<v Speaker 1>to challenge Lee Moriarty for the Ring of Honor Pure

<v Speaker 1>Championship of the Death before Dishonor pay per view on Friday,

<v Speaker 1>with the stipulation that of Nigel lost, he would be

<v Speaker 1>forced to retire from Ring of Honor, And then he

<v Speaker 1>got pulled from the match and replaced by Kasiori Shabata.

<v Speaker 1>With Moxley and White, I was hoping that would be

<v Speaker 1>the final. I was really thinking, Okay, that's kind of

<v Speaker 1>a big final they could do. They did it here instead.

<v Speaker 1>I was disappointed not to see White get the upset

<v Speaker 1>and move on, though I did think it was his

<v Speaker 1>best match since returning from the injury, easily the best

<v Speaker 1>match he's had, but Moxley moves on to the next round.

<v Speaker 1>One person who is not moving on unfortunately in this

<v Speaker 1>tournament is Eddie Kingston, who beat Jake Doyle in the

<v Speaker 1>opening round of the tournament. And Eddie was supposed to

<v Speaker 1>be part of the Ring of Honor pay per view

<v Speaker 1>on Friday nights and he was supposed to be moving

<v Speaker 1>on here in the Cup. Tony Kahan was streaming before

<v Speaker 1>the Ring of Honor pay per view on Friday on

<v Speaker 1>his social media and he made the announcement that Eddie Kingston,

<v Speaker 1>due to a medical issue, was not cleared by aw

<v Speaker 1>Medical and so therefore he was pulled from his scheduled

<v Speaker 1>match in the Continental Cup. Didn't really go into any

<v Speaker 1>detail as far as what the injury is or how

<v Speaker 1>bad it is. He did say that hopefully he'll be

<v Speaker 1>okay and back soon, so I don't know that it's

<v Speaker 1>too terribly serious. Instead, though, he said that at Death

<v Speaker 1>Before Dishonor on Friday, the match between Daniel Garcia and

<v Speaker 1>Adam Priest would be a play in match and the

<v Speaker 1>winner of that would move on to Collision on Saturday

<v Speaker 1>to wrestle. Claudio Castignolian Daniel Garcia won that match on Friday,

<v Speaker 1>which set up the Death Riders showdown on Collision last

<v Speaker 1>night between Claudio and Garcia. Claudio won that match, which

<v Speaker 1>sets up yet another battle of the Death Riders coming

<v Speaker 1>up on TV this week. Also on Wednesday, Maya World

<v Speaker 1>retained her TBS championship in a four way match that

<v Speaker 1>also included Chris Statlander, Hikarushida and Persephone. She pinned Statlander

<v Speaker 1>to win the match that Lander had a look on

<v Speaker 1>her face like she was not happy about this. And

<v Speaker 1>then on Collision last night, Willow Nightingale who said she

<v Speaker 1>had promised Maya when she won the championship from Tekla

<v Speaker 1>that she would give her the first shot at the title,

<v Speaker 1>and so Maya said, sure, let's do it on Collision

<v Speaker 1>and that set up the championship match between them last night,

<v Speaker 1>and of course Willow retained as if it was ever

<v Speaker 1>which is very likely going to include the debuting Kofi

<v Speaker 1>be debuting these two. If they do debut here, though,

<v Speaker 1>prediction here is that they do debut and it's going

<v Speaker 1>to be Swerve in the New Day as the new

<v Speaker 1>Okada about well, you know, especially on Okada's end, like

<v Speaker 1>he's back and he was back on Dynamite this week,

<v Speaker 1>the show just because we haven't seen it before. It's

<v Speaker 1>kind of the clash of two generations, and I think

<v Speaker 1>this is where the Bucks get the belts back new

<v Speaker 1>tag team champions. The AW Women's World Champion Willow Nightingale

<v Speaker 1>defends her title against Mercedes Monet. Second year in a

<v Speaker 1>row that Mercedes has won the owen Hart Tournament. She

<v Speaker 1>failed last year. She's had two opportunities before to become

<v Speaker 1>the AW Women's World Champion. She has failed on both

<v Speaker 1>of those times. Willow, though just won the belt. She

<v Speaker 1>just beat Tekla for the belt at Redemption. I don't

<v Speaker 1>like the idea of using Willow as a transitional champion,

<v Speaker 1>but if Mercedes loses this, that's two years in a

<v Speaker 1>of last year. I've seen pictures of it in their

<v Speaker 1>social media. It looks like a fun place. I don't

<v Speaker 1>know if anybody listening to this is actually is in

<v Speaker 1>the area or from the area has stopped by. I

<v Speaker 1>love those wrestling themed places. Dark Side of the Ring

<v Speaker 1>this week was the penn ultimate episode of the season

<v Speaker 1>on The Walking Riot. Missy Hyatt, or as she calls herself,

<v Speaker 1>the First Lady of Wrestling. First Lady of Wrestling will

<v Speaker 1>always be Miss Elizabeth to me, and if you want

<v Speaker 1>to be technical about it, Elizabeth debuted as Macho Man's

<v Speaker 1>manager in August of nineteen eighty five. Missy didn't debut

<v Speaker 1>for World Class until September, so Liz has her beat

<v Speaker 1>funny enough. George Scott, who was booking for Vince at

<v Speaker 1>the time, he had suggested Missy for the spot as

<v Speaker 1>Savage as manager, but he wanted to go with his

<v Speaker 1>wife instead, so that's how Liz got the gig. Imagine

<v Speaker 1>a young Missy Hyatt as the manager for the Macho

<v Speaker 1>Man Randy Savage would have been a very interesting combo.

<v Speaker 1>As a younger fan, I knew of Missy. I didn't

<v Speaker 1>really see much of her because I wasn't watching World

<v Speaker 1>Class back then, and even her work in WCW. You know,

<v Speaker 1>what I saw of her was very limited to the

<v Speaker 1>stuff that she did as a host, and you know,

<v Speaker 1>a little bit as an announcer, not really so much

<v Speaker 1>as a manager. But she was a smoke show and

<v Speaker 1>all the wrestlers thought so too. Because she's been with

<v Speaker 1>many of them. It's kind of hard to keep track

<v Speaker 1>of them all. It's like when you go to the

<v Speaker 1>deli counter and you have to pull one of those

<v Speaker 1>tickets to wait in line. And she's been very open

<v Speaker 1>about it. I mean, you watch any shoot interview with her,

<v Speaker 1>she's openly commented on the size of all of their dicks.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, this is hardly a secret. She never slept

<v Speaker 1>with Batista, though, so that question remains unanswered. I wouldn't

<v Speaker 1>call this one of their stronger episodes. Now. It wasn't bad.

<v Speaker 1>can't believe it took Susan Lucci nineteen tries to finally

<v Speaker 1>win a daytime Emmy, but damn it, she finally did. Anyway,

<v Speaker 1>She's watching television one day with her father and they

<v Speaker 1>come upon Georgia Championship Wrestling and Michael Hayes is turning

<v Speaker 1>on Terry Gordy Big Angle, and she instantly fell in

<v Speaker 1>love with wrestling. As someone who wanted to get into

<v Speaker 1>soap operas, why not a male soap opera, I guess so.

<v Speaker 1>She had pictures of Wildfire Tommy Rich on her walls

<v Speaker 1>when she was younger, so it was very cool for

<v Speaker 1>her to meet him one day and get a picture

<v Speaker 1>with him and then hook up with him, even though

<v Speaker 1>she says Tommy denies it. Well, I mean, maybe the

<v Speaker 1>reason Tommy denies it is because she was seventeen years

<v Speaker 1>old when she gave him that blowjob. Okay, or at

<v Speaker 1>least that's what she said in her U shoot many

<v Speaker 1>years ago. I would deny that too if I were him.

<v Speaker 1>Jake the Snake Roberts was her first wrestler boyfriend, the

<v Speaker 1>choir boy that he was back then, and she claimed

<v Speaker 1>that the first time she ever did cocaine was with

<v Speaker 1>Jake and Rode Warrior Hawk. And she's also said that

<v Speaker 1>Jake would give her Halcyon pills, which is a benzo.

<v Speaker 1>a bad combo. So this woman would be just climbing

<v Speaker 1>Rockers were notorious for that, but they were hardly the

<v Speaker 1>only ones who did it. Missy actually told the story

<v Speaker 1>a long time ago once of being h bombed and

<v Speaker 1>almost passing out. As she remembers another Valet who got

<v Speaker 1>h bombed and was almost raped by a quote unquote

<v Speaker 1>born again wrestler. He's so called born again wrestler. She

<v Speaker 1>said it started as a rib where they were only

<v Speaker 1>going to shave the girl's eyebrows off, but then it

<v Speaker 1>turned into something much worse. And this is the kind

<v Speaker 1>of shit that went on back then, and that's tame

<v Speaker 1>compared to some of the other things that I'm sure

<v Speaker 1>we'll never even know about. But it was while she

<v Speaker 1>was still with Jake that she came across World Class

<v Speaker 1>Championship Wrestling on TV and she saw Precious and Sunshine.

<v Speaker 1>They were getting into a catfight, and she turned to

<v Speaker 1>Jake and told them that's what I want to do.

<v Speaker 1>So he advised her to send photos into them and

<v Speaker 1>they hired Baby Doll instead. But after she and Jake

<v Speaker 1>broke up, she ended up meeting Hollywood John Tatum and

<v Speaker 1>the two of them fell in love. Tatum ended up

<v Speaker 1>in World Class and he asked David Manning about bringing

<v Speaker 1>his girlfriend in to be his valet, so they brought

<v Speaker 1>her in. David Manning even said when he was introduced

<v Speaker 1>here in the episode, you can blame me for getting

<v Speaker 1>Missy Hyatt into professional wrestling. They also interviewed Bonnie black

<v Speaker 1>Blackstone for this That was a blast from the past.

<v Speaker 1>I haven't heard that name in ages. The two of

<v Speaker 1>them were friends. I remember Bonnie Blackstone in the WWF

<v Speaker 1>for a Cup of Coffee as an interviewer for a

<v Speaker 1>few months back in the mid nineties. But Missy eventually

<v Speaker 1>left Tatum for Eddie Gilbert and the two of them

<v Speaker 1>were married for about a year and a half. You know,

<v Speaker 1>Eddie Gilbert, he pulled Missy and Medusa because he was

<v Speaker 1>married to Medusa also for a few months. That man

<v Speaker 1>was doing something right. I don't know what, but hey,

<v Speaker 1>good for him. They talked about her brief run working

<v Speaker 1>for Vince McMahon as well, because Vince McMahon came calling.

<v Speaker 1>He wanted to bring in Eddie and Missy with the

<v Speaker 1>promise that he would make her. This is, according to her,

<v Speaker 1>the promise that he would make her bigger than Hulk Hogan. Well,

<v Speaker 1>at least we know why Vince brought her in, because

<v Speaker 1>if he said anything even remotely close to that, he

<v Speaker 1>did so clearly with the intention of getting in her pants,

<v Speaker 1>because that's a preposterous statement to make. But the idea

<v Speaker 1>was that She was going to replace Piper's pit because

<v Speaker 1>Roddy Piper was retiring to do movies, and I talked

<v Speaker 1>about this on the podcast many years ago. She wasn't

<v Speaker 1>there very long. This was not long after WrestleMania three.

<v Speaker 1>Eddie Gilbert ends up not going with her because he

<v Speaker 1>was more interested in booking, not so much wrestling, and

<v Speaker 1>Vincent given him the option to either wrestle or manage,

<v Speaker 1>you know, whichever you want to be. He wanted to

<v Speaker 1>book and they weren't going to offer that to him.

<v Speaker 1>But Missy goes. She got a deal for one thousand

<v Speaker 1>dollars a week plus all expenses paid, and they had

<v Speaker 1>her hosting a talk show segment called Missy's Manor, and

<v Speaker 1>they taped a bunch of these Missy's Manners segments for

<v Speaker 1>television where she interviewed names like Randy Savage and Elizabeth

<v Speaker 1>Harley Race and Honky tonk men Ken Petera, Adrian Adonis,

<v Speaker 1>Bobby Heenan a bunch of others and they were taped

<v Speaker 1>for TV, but the segments were so bad they never

<v Speaker 1>made the air, and Missy got all the segments. She

<v Speaker 1>got access to all the segments many many years ago

<v Speaker 1>and she put them up on her YouTube channel, and

<v Speaker 1>the segments are still up if you ever want to

<v Speaker 1>go check them out. If you go to her channel,

<v Speaker 1>by the way, you'll also find a home movie, not

<v Speaker 1>that kind of home movie, but a home movie from

<v Speaker 1>back when she and Eddie Gilbert were together. They were

<v Speaker 1>hanging out by the pool and a young Paul Hayman

<v Speaker 1>is there. So if you ever wanted to see Paul

<v Speaker 1>Hayman riding down a water slide, today's your lucky day.

<v Speaker 1>But if you watch those Missy's manner videos, they're very awkward.

<v Speaker 1>They're not very good. And the idea that she would

<v Speaker 1>be effectively replacing Roddy Piper would be the equivalent of

<v Speaker 1>like Vince McMahon passing Shawn Michaels over in the mid

<v Speaker 1>nineties to go with Henry Godwin as his top babyface. Okay,

<v Speaker 1>it's just ridiculous. So after the first few of these

<v Speaker 1>that they taped, Vince told her, you know, stand up

<v Speaker 1>off the couch and start showing off your legs more

<v Speaker 1>when you introduce the segments, which you could see her

<v Speaker 1>doing in some of the later ones. But in the

<v Speaker 1>episode she said that Vince bought her the leather clothes

<v Speaker 1>that you see her wearing in the segments. He whined

<v Speaker 1>and dined her, taught her how to play blackjack because

<v Speaker 1>they were in Vegas, and I remember her talking about

<v Speaker 1>this previously. I think they were at a dinner with

<v Speaker 1>other people. I think Dick Ebersol was there, Gene Okerland

<v Speaker 1>was there. But then after walking her back to her

<v Speaker 1>hotel room, he tried to stick his tongue down her throat,

<v Speaker 1>which sounds very on brand for Vince McMahon. She was

<v Speaker 1>engaged at the time to Eddie Gilbert. She wasn't going

<v Speaker 1>to cheat on him. She pushed him away and she

<v Speaker 1>shut the door. This would have happened less than a

<v Speaker 1>year after the Rita Chatterton stuff, after she accused Vince

<v Speaker 1>of raping her in the backseat of his limousine. So

<v Speaker 1>she feels like after that, Vince basically had it out

<v Speaker 1>for her, like whatever push she was going to give

<v Speaker 1>her basically went down the drain. And she said she

<v Speaker 1>felt more comfortable ed libbing, and he didn't want her to.

<v Speaker 1>He wanted her to stick to the script and told

<v Speaker 1>her exactly what to say say, and it just came

<v Speaker 1>off very awkward and very stilted. I mean, just objectively,

<v Speaker 1>if you watch the segments, they're terrible. Like, I'm not

<v Speaker 1>saying that she didn't kill her career there by rebuffing

<v Speaker 1>his advances. That's probably exactly what happened. But there's a

<v Speaker 1>reason that none of these segments ever aired on TV

<v Speaker 1>because they didn't belong on TV because they were fucking awful.

<v Speaker 1>So with Missy's manner dead, Vince offered her a different position.

<v Speaker 1>He said, you can be one of my fedeets. They

<v Speaker 1>might be saying, what the fuck is a federet. Fedterets

<v Speaker 1>were the ring girls that you would see on TV.

<v Speaker 1>They were usually remember those little carts they had at

<v Speaker 1>like WrestleMania three and WrestleMania six, where guys would ride

<v Speaker 1>them down to the ring, and when they got down

<v Speaker 1>to ringside, the women would be there to kind of

<v Speaker 1>unhook the rope so they can get off the cart.

<v Speaker 1>Those were the federats, or they would be the ones

<v Speaker 1>that would collect the ring jackets before each match. She

<v Speaker 1>had no interest in this and that ended her run

<v Speaker 1>in the WWF. She lasted all of six weeks. If

<v Speaker 1>you go back and watch the very end of the

<v Speaker 1>Missy's Manor segment by the way that she did with

<v Speaker 1>Rick Martel and Tom zinc that the segment is like

<v Speaker 1>two and a half minutes. It's not very long. It

<v Speaker 1>is it is unwatchable, but at the very end of it,

<v Speaker 1>as Missy is walking off with them, if you listen closely,

<v Speaker 1>you can hear a young child in the background call

<v Speaker 1>her a fucking bitch. I would have expected that from

<v Speaker 1>kids in the crowd in nineteen ninety seven, not nineteen

<v Speaker 1>eighty seven. But she ended up in WCW and Dusty

<v Speaker 1>Rhodes promised to make her a star, and he did

<v Speaker 1>use her a lot. She did interviews, She hosted shows

<v Speaker 1>with Jim Raw, She hosted shows with Tony Shavani. Yeah,

<v Speaker 1>that's wild, though, wild to think that Missy and JR.

<v Speaker 1>Actually dated. And I don't mean like back in the

<v Speaker 1>early nineties when all of this was going on, Like

<v Speaker 1>I kid you now, this would have been a couple

<v Speaker 1>of years after Jr's wife passed away. He and Missy

<v Speaker 1>dated for like two years after he moved to Jacksonville.

<v Speaker 1>He started working for AW and I just remember her

<v Speaker 1>saying that he rocked her world. It's a good thing

<v Speaker 1>I'm recording this before lunch. If it was after, it

<v Speaker 1>would be all over my keyboard right now. They also

<v Speaker 1>had her doing updates on the hotline where she would

<v Speaker 1>just make up random gossip and just talk about whatever

<v Speaker 1>whatever she felt like, just making up and talking about

<v Speaker 1>dollar ninety nine a minute. They charged for this shit.

<v Speaker 1>That's why they would always say, kids, get your parents'

<v Speaker 1>permission before calling. I'm gonna assume their parents weren't around

<v Speaker 1>to begin with. If these kids were in the crowd

<v Speaker 1>calling this woman an effing bitch. But she had Sundays

<v Speaker 1>on the hotline. That was her day, and she claims

<v Speaker 1>that her day brought in half a million dollars one year,

<v Speaker 1>far and away more than anyone else on the hotline

<v Speaker 1>was bringing in. And you know how much she made

<v Speaker 1>out of that zero? She made zero dollars from it.

<v Speaker 1>somebody more senior in the Turner hierarchy there because she

<v Speaker 1>didn't want that type of person on the roster, so

<v Speaker 1>a little more context to Eric's response, he said that

<v Speaker 1>she turned into, in his words, a complete bitch, and

<v Speaker 1>he said that he brought in Sherry Martel. Missy saw

<v Speaker 1>Sherry and she went ballistic, Why is she here? What

<v Speaker 1>is she doing here? And because this took place in

<v Speaker 1>front of other WCW employees, it gave him cause to

<v Speaker 1>fire her, so he did. Now, they did bring in

<v Speaker 1>Sherry as a babyface to manage another team. I can't

<v Speaker 1>remember what team it was, to take on the nasties.

<v Speaker 1>I think they even tape stuff for TV that never

<v Speaker 1>aired with Missy guhnn. Cherry ended up getting repackaged as

<v Speaker 1>a heel instead. I think she managed Ron Simmons for

<v Speaker 1>a little bit. His run didn't last very long, and

<v Speaker 1>then she ended later on ended up managing Harlem Heat.

<v Speaker 1>So there were clearly plans for a Missy Hyatt Sherry

<v Speaker 1>Martel feud in ninety four. Whether or not you believe
