<v Speaker 5>The Peach Fest was this past weekend, and it really

<v Speaker 5>was a lot of fun. Like they take over like

<v Speaker 5>Palisade is where it's at if you're not familiar, the

<v Speaker 5>famous Palisade peach that's where it's come comes from.

<v Speaker 1>But they're big parks there.

<v Speaker 5>They turn it into a big like farmer's market on steroids,

<v Speaker 5>like they have everything, you can imagine everything, trust everything peach.

<v Speaker 2>They're selling clothing that's peach themed.

<v Speaker 5>They've got like animals out there who are dressed as peaches.

<v Speaker 4>I saw did you dress as Princess Peach?

<v Speaker 5>But there is a Peach princess, not to be confused

<v Speaker 5>with the video game character, and a Peach queen. So

<v Speaker 5>there's a lot of peach themed stuff going on. I

<v Speaker 5>saw a peach eating contest, which is kind of gross

<v Speaker 5>if you juices. Oh my gosh, and one guy ate

<v Speaker 5>six peaches in a minute. If you could imagine what

<v Speaker 5>that looks like.

<v Speaker 1>I feel like he ate.

<v Speaker 2>A pit somewhere down.

<v Speaker 1>How did you eat all that so quick?

<v Speaker 3>Some old guys out there, He's like, you know, and

<v Speaker 3>you shwallow a peach pit, You're gonna grow a peach tree.

<v Speaker 1>Exactly exactly.

<v Speaker 5>But one of the funny so this year for peaches,

<v Speaker 5>I mean, if you can think back, like our winter

<v Speaker 5>was a little out of the ordinary, right, we didn't

<v Speaker 5>necessarily get the typical Colorado snow filled winter that we

<v Speaker 5>normally get, and that really affected the produce over there

<v Speaker 5>on the western slope. So part of it was that

<v Speaker 5>they had so many hot days. I mean, I was

<v Speaker 5>talking to one of the peach farmers and he said

<v Speaker 5>they had a string of like twenty straight days of

<v Speaker 5>over one hundred and that is not good for the

<v Speaker 5>produce over there. So from what I understand, it was

<v Speaker 5>a bad year for the produce over on the Western Slope.

<v Speaker 5>And there were a lot of people who weren't able to,

<v Speaker 5>you know, provide the peaches that you expect, yeah, to

<v Speaker 5>get your peach of five. I mean, because when you

<v Speaker 5>think about the peaches, it's the big fat peaches, and

<v Speaker 5>when you take their iconic they're so juicy that it

<v Speaker 5>drips down your arm. This is how people describe Palisade peaches.

<v Speaker 2>It's true.

<v Speaker 3>Yeah, no, it has to have the Palisade marketing lady

<v Speaker 3>come into the radio station each and every year with

<v Speaker 3>a bushel. She'd bring us a bushel and we'd have

<v Speaker 3>some on the air. And it was our engineer hated

<v Speaker 3>it because we'd have peach juice all over the equipment.

<v Speaker 4>Here, sure, what are you doing peaches in the studio?

<v Speaker 5>Well, and I had friends who had never been to

<v Speaker 5>the Peach Festival, and so they were looking forward to it.

<v Speaker 5>But we got there and one of my friends had

<v Speaker 5>a peach and it was not good.

<v Speaker 1>It was hard.

<v Speaker 5>It was not the typical Palisade peach that you would expect.

<v Speaker 5>And we were talking to people who said because of

<v Speaker 5>the weird weather, because it got so hot, the peach

<v Speaker 5>trees blossomed like two to three weeks early, and then

<v Speaker 5>we had a crazy freeze, so it wiped out a

<v Speaker 5>good chunk of a lot of the produce. But the

<v Speaker 5>stuff you don't want well, and the stuff that wasn't

<v Speaker 5>wiped out, it was so small.

<v Speaker 1>So that's the thing. If you get palisade.

<v Speaker 5>Peaches this year, you'll notice, Number one, they are way

<v Speaker 5>smaller than they typically are, and that is because they

<v Speaker 5>weren't able to you know, the weather.

<v Speaker 2>Paraberti of full maturity.

<v Speaker 5>They didn't reach that big, big stage. But what it

<v Speaker 5>did is like so it's because it's small. The sugars

<v Speaker 5>are concentrated for some of them, so if you found

<v Speaker 5>someone who is able to keep their peaches in order,

<v Speaker 5>you were able to get the small peaches.

<v Speaker 1>But they were full of sugar, so they were super

<v Speaker 1>super sweet.

<v Speaker 5>If you were able to find something now good enough

<v Speaker 5>for me, I know a peach guy, Like, I lived

<v Speaker 5>on a peach orchard. You guys know this, So I

<v Speaker 5>went out to my peach guy, got some really good peach,

<v Speaker 5>you know, produce some good peach options.

<v Speaker 3>Somebody to take a shot every time you hear the

<v Speaker 3>word peach during this conversation.

<v Speaker 2>Shot peach was peach chest.

<v Speaker 4>Okay, that's awesome.

<v Speaker 5>So I was sitting at the chef demos out there

<v Speaker 5>at the peach fest that they were talking about. You know,

<v Speaker 5>people brag about that, like all the time I lived

<v Speaker 5>over there, And that's one of the things you can

<v Speaker 5>brag about the food because it is superior to the

<v Speaker 5>food over here on the Western Slope, and it just is.

<v Speaker 5>You this, but the peaches are better over there because

<v Speaker 5>because it gets so hot during the day and so

<v Speaker 5>cool at night, it stresses the produce.

<v Speaker 1>It's not only that, but it stresses them out.

<v Speaker 5>Which makes them work harder, which makes them create more nutrients, which.

<v Speaker 1>Makes it a better peach. It's a stressed peach.

<v Speaker 5>The grass also super stressed, right, Okay, grass even needs

<v Speaker 5>to stress out to grow, so it has extreme nutrient volume.

<v Speaker 5>so yeah, that was kind of brought to my attention

<v Speaker 5>was really excited to meet Julia because from what I understood,

<v Speaker 5>Right, And so Julia and Matt show up, and they

<v Speaker 5>couldn't have had a better description for Julia.

<v Speaker 5>Such a nice person, easy to get along to, super funny,

<v Speaker 2>And her fiance Matt, also the same.

<v Speaker 1>Right. So we did all this fun stuff.

<v Speaker 5>We went to Peachfest, we went to all the restaurants

<v Speaker 5>together and we just had the best time. And they're

<v Speaker 5>a little younger than me, so I was trying to

<v Speaker 5>not really impress them, but I was just trying to

<v Speaker 5>hang right, be one of the crew.

<v Speaker 1>And I really thought I was doing it. I was like,

<v Speaker 1>oh my gosh, I'm making friends. This is great. We're

<v Speaker 5>And then the last day, okay, the last day, we're

<v Speaker 5>all packing everything up and Julia comes into my bedroom

<v Speaker 5>and she was just like, this was so much fun.

<v Speaker 5>This is really just like a really good vacation. I'm
