<v Speaker 1>Jerry, Katie, and Josh.
<v Speaker 2>Mix 100.
<v Speaker 3>National Weather Service says the front range will see another
<v Speaker 3>round of afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Today's the best day
<v Speaker 3>to catch large hail, damaging wind, and heavy rain, and
<v Speaker 3>maybe some flooding. So that's a little later this afternoon
<v Speaker 3>after you're done eating your Lunchables there at work.
<v Speaker 4>Maybe if you park under a tree or something, get
<v Speaker 4>a little closer. Because you could get dinged up today,
<v Speaker 4>so I don't like that at all.
<v Speaker 5>I don't either.
<v Speaker 4>I don't like hail at all.
<v Speaker 6>It's the reason I got a garage.
<v Speaker 7>Smart.
<v Speaker 6>Because the hail around here is bananas.
<v Speaker 4>It's bananas.
<v Speaker 6>It is.
<v Speaker 4>Well, if we get a lot of hail today, I
<v Speaker 4>would imagine that you're.
<v Speaker 3>Going to see the social media posts, people holding their
<v Speaker 3>hands out with the hail in them, you know? The
<v Speaker 3>story here, though, says people are not really posting on
<v Speaker 3>social much anymore.
<v Speaker 4>It's pretty much taken a nosedive.
<v Speaker 3>More than half of people say they are posting less
<v Speaker 3>than they did five years ago. And then many more
<v Speaker 3>people are being incredibly selective about what they share. I'm
<v Speaker 3>kind of in that camp right now. I am not
<v Speaker 3>on it at all. I'll hop on and do a
<v Speaker 3>couple things for work.
<v Speaker 4>And then, boom, I'm off. Once you start realizing how
<v Speaker 4>much time.
<v Speaker 3>You're wasting on the socials, it really makes you reevaluate
<v Speaker 3>what you're looking at.
<v Speaker 2>And not only that, but how it makes you feel.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, when you post something on social media and
<v Speaker 2>it doesn't get any.
<v Speaker 6>Traction, why does that make you feel bad? Or if
<v Speaker 6>it does get traction, then you're.
<v Speaker 7>Like, looking constantly checking.
<v Speaker 2>It yeah it's just silly but um i've also noticed
<v Speaker 2>like as far as posting i am so selective as
<v Speaker 2>far as what i'm putting out there it it has
<v Speaker 2>changed a lot for me a lot so i would.
<v Speaker 3>Agree with that uh like my long eyebrow hair yesterday
<v Speaker 3>that'll definitely give you the feels I mean, that.
<v Speaker 6>Was just gross. That was just odd. And we were
<v Speaker 6>all like, what is happening to you?
<v Speaker 4>Very selective on what we post.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Now we'll get you fired up with the Big Shwet
<v Speaker 4>Hotter and Sports Report. Story out this morning.
<v Speaker 3>Ranking the best sports nicknames of all time.
<v Speaker 5>It's got to be.
<v Speaker 4>I feel like I know who it is.
<v Speaker 3>Do you?
<v Speaker 8>Yeah.
<v Speaker 6>Who is it?
<v Speaker 5>Is it the great one, Wayne Gretzky?
<v Speaker 7>No.
<v Speaker 5>That's got to be the number one.
<v Speaker 2>No.
<v Speaker 4>Actually, it's Happy Gilmore.
<v Speaker 6>Yes. Is it really? Are you messing with me?
<v Speaker 4>Dang it, Jeremy. It's Wayne Gretzky.
<v Speaker 2>I was really excited that it was going to be
<v Speaker 2>Happy Gilmore.
<v Speaker 5>This list sucks.
<v Speaker 4>The Great Bambino made the list. Mr. October, the big unit.
<v Speaker 4>Jokes with that one.
<v Speaker 3>Chocolate Thunder, the big hurt.
<v Speaker 4>The Minister of Defense. Diesel for Shaq. Megatron. Why isn't
<v Speaker 4>Air Jordan higher on the list? Air Jordan should be
<v Speaker 4>top three.
<v Speaker 5>I thought that would be top five, top three. Stone Cold?
<v Speaker 3>Give me some Steve Austin at the top of this list.
<v Speaker 3>All the Way May made the list. Benny the Jet Rodriguez.
<v Speaker 5>Yes.
<v Speaker 4>Smalls and Hamilton Ham Porter also made the list. Okay,
<v Speaker 4>those are good ones.
<v Speaker 6>I appreciate those ones making it.
<v Speaker 7>Huh.
<v Speaker 4>And happy Gilmore.
<v Speaker 3>Okay, so if you're out exercising, getting on your fitness today,
<v Speaker 3>maybe you're wearing one of those smart watches, you got
<v Speaker 3>a Fitbit on, they've got those ring now, those rings
<v Speaker 3>that you can.
<v Speaker 4>Put on that track all your activity and biometrics.
<v Speaker 3>What if you could just dump all that, leave it
<v Speaker 3>at home, and track your fitness through your skin?
<v Speaker 4>This is pretty neat. Scientists.
<v Speaker 3>have created a wearable paint that you can put directly
<v Speaker 3>onto your skin. It looks kind of like a temporary tattoo.
<v Speaker 3>So you could put something fun on there. Like, I'm
<v Speaker 3>into sharks. I'm going to have a shark tattoo with
<v Speaker 3>this special paint.
<v Speaker 8>Okay.
<v Speaker 3>Anyway, the paint is embedded in the paint is polymer electrodes.
<v Speaker 4>So it tracks.
<v Speaker 3>your fitness through your skin. They say it's excellent at
<v Speaker 3>tracking muscle activity, heart rate, even brain waves. They tested
<v Speaker 3>it on people on treadmills and working out and all
<v Speaker 3>that crap. And boom, it shot all the information to
<v Speaker 3>their phones and they didn't have to wear any.
<v Speaker 4>Sort of device while they were working out. How neat
<v Speaker 4>is that?
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, I mean.
<v Speaker 7>It's kind of sketchy to me.
<v Speaker 6>Exactly.
<v Speaker 5>I'm a little concerned.
<v Speaker 4>Oh, you get tattoos. You got tattoos all over you.
<v Speaker 4>That's injected into you.
<v Speaker 6>That has been proven over and over and over again.
<v Speaker 2>The tale as old as time now with tattoos.
<v Speaker 4>What's the tale as old as time? Well, people have
<v Speaker 4>done it.
<v Speaker 6>And so we know that it's... Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>And you get hepatitis from it.
<v Speaker 6>So I'm going to let everybody else do this first.
<v Speaker 4>Hepatitis is a tale as old as time, too.
<v Speaker 6>I know, but that's the thing.
<v Speaker 4>This is on top.
<v Speaker 6>They've taken measures to prevent all that.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, but it soaks into the skin.
<v Speaker 6>The first couple people got hepatitis, maybe, but then they
<v Speaker 6>figured it out. Like, I'm going to let these people figure.
<v Speaker 3>Out how to do stuff. We've got to wash the
<v Speaker 3>needles and then do it again.
<v Speaker 8>See?
<v Speaker 6>We figured it out.
<v Speaker 7>Don't reuse them.
<v Speaker 5>Okay.
<v Speaker 6>Maybe like the first couple shark tattoos. I'll let you
<v Speaker 6>guys get them.
<v Speaker 4>Listen, it's on top of your skin. You just wash
<v Speaker 4>it off.
<v Speaker 5>Your skin absorbs things that are on top of it.
<v Speaker 4>You've got a massive tattoo on your back.
<v Speaker 6>There's electro loads in there or something.
<v Speaker 4>I got your electro load.
<v Speaker 6>Okay. I don't know why you have mine, but okay.
<v Speaker 5>It just seems a little sketchy to me.
<v Speaker 8>That's all.
<v Speaker 5>A little sketchy.
<v Speaker 4>That would be my sports name, actually. Jeremy the Electroload.
<v Speaker 5>His.
<v Speaker 4>What? L. Okay.
<v Speaker 6>I don't know.
<v Speaker 5>You do it first. Let us know how it goes.
<v Speaker 7>Yeah, exactly.
<v Speaker 4>All right, what else you got?
<v Speaker 5>All right, well, the World.
<v Speaker 7>Humanoid Robot Games happened a few days ago in Beijing, China,
<v Speaker 7>and I.
<v Speaker 5>Don't like this.
<v Speaker 7>These humanoid robots are becoming so lifelike. They actually did
<v Speaker 7>the 100-meter dash, and one of those robots beat Usain
<v Speaker 7>Bolt's record of 9.58 seconds. That is a smashed world record,
<v Speaker 7>and this humanoid robot... beat it in 9.39 seconds. So
<v Speaker 7>he crushed that one. Some things that are funny about
<v Speaker 7>this that kind of made the news as well is
<v Speaker 7>the robots aren't good at stopping yet. They're really good
<v Speaker 7>at going and they get to where they're going fast,
<v Speaker 7>but they don't stop very well. And one of them
<v Speaker 7>smashed into a wall and actually broke into like 100
<v Speaker 7>pieces and sparks were flying everywhere.
<v Speaker 5>So they're working on that.
<v Speaker 7>But I think this is just going to lead to
<v Speaker 7>a future that we're just going to be watching robots
<v Speaker 7>do everything.
<v Speaker 5>Robot football.
<v Speaker 7>No.
<v Speaker 5>Robot boxing.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, why not?
<v Speaker 3>It'll help reduce brain damage in these athletes.
<v Speaker 5>That's another thing.
<v Speaker 7>You know if you are an athlete of a high caliber,
<v Speaker 7>you know what you're getting yourself into. You kind of
<v Speaker 7>sign up for that. We know enough now that there
<v Speaker 7>is possibilities of.
<v Speaker 4>It's like the tattoos. We know enough.
<v Speaker 6>Exactly.
<v Speaker 5>That's also true. But I don't like this.
<v Speaker 7>I don't want to watch robots in my future.
<v Speaker 6>I don't either.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, the thing is, is it takes such dedication
<v Speaker 2>to be an athlete at that level.
<v Speaker 6>You train your whole life. And if you just build
<v Speaker 6>a robot who's going.
<v Speaker 2>To be a D1 athlete, the minute it comes out
<v Speaker 2>of the box, that's not.
<v Speaker 3>It's not fun.
<v Speaker 5>It's not interesting.
<v Speaker 4>From what I understand, you've got a D1 athlete in
<v Speaker 4>your nightstand.
<v Speaker 2>Sure.
<v Speaker 4>Why are you so mad.
<v Speaker 6>At the robots? You know what? They've earned that.
<v Speaker 5>Right, too.
<v Speaker 4>Don't act like you're against robots. I've heard your stories.
<v Speaker 5>Shut up.
<v Speaker 4>That also sparks a lot.
<v Speaker 6>Shut up, Jeremy.
<v Speaker 4>What's blowing up?
<v Speaker 8>We've got receipts. We've got drama.
<v Speaker 6>We've got Denver talking.
<v Speaker 4>It's the Mile High Hype.
<v Speaker 3>With JKJ.
<v Speaker 2>Legends and icons.
<v Speaker 6>On Mix 100.
<v Speaker 3>Well, it is time to talk about everything that is
<v Speaker 3>trending this morning, all brought to you by Mountain High Appliance,
<v Speaker 3>where you can get amazing savings throughout all their showrooms,
<v Speaker 3>whether you're replacing one appliance or you're remodeling an entire kitchen.
<v Speaker 3>You can find top brands and expert advice. All you
<v Speaker 3>have to do is go to mountainhighappliance.com. Talk about the
<v Speaker 3>oversaturation of heaven today.
<v Speaker 6>Okay.
<v Speaker 4>May she rest.
<v Speaker 6>That was very sad news yesterday.
<v Speaker 3>Well, I am definitely heartbroken about it. Obviously, if you've
<v Speaker 3>listened to this show for many years, I've always had a...
<v Speaker 3>It's a very tongue-in-cheek segment regarding Dolly Parton and the
<v Speaker 3>oversaturation of Dolly Parton because she.
<v Speaker 4>Truly was everywhere.
<v Speaker 3>We just talked about her on Monday because she was
<v Speaker 3>coming out with her own line of dog treats.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>She had now expanded her brand into dog treats.
<v Speaker 3>So I had some fun with Dolly over the years,
<v Speaker 3>but truly one of my most favorite celebrities of all time.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, who doesn't love Dolly? She just did so
<v Speaker 2>many good things.
<v Speaker 4>An icon, right?
<v Speaker 8>Absolutely.
<v Speaker 3>An icon, and I think that's why I brought her
<v Speaker 3>up on the show so much, because.
<v Speaker 4>Everybody loved her.
<v Speaker 3>You never heard anybody say a bad thing about Dolly Parton,
<v Speaker 3>and to get that news yesterday was kind of like
<v Speaker 3>a punch in the gut for a lot of people.
<v Speaker 4>Social media was flooded with stuff about Dolly.
<v Speaker 3>She did face a brief battle with cancer, it sounds like.
<v Speaker 3>Passed away in the hospital. Do I have, is this
<v Speaker 3>her nephew?
<v Speaker 6>Actually, I want to play.
<v Speaker 4>You this really quick. I pulled this little clip of Dolly.
<v Speaker 3>Here you go. Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.
<v Speaker 2>Hold on.
<v Speaker 4>I swear I know what I'm doing.
<v Speaker 3>Mm-hmm.
<v Speaker 5>All right, here.
<v Speaker 4>Here's some dog.
<v Speaker 8>You are enough, and anyone who tells you otherwise isn't
<v Speaker 8>worth your time. You got this. Yes, I'm talking to you.
<v Speaker 8>Other people didn't always believe in me, and in those times,
<v Speaker 8>I had to believe in myself. Plus, nothing's better than
<v Speaker 8>proving people wrong. Make a list of the things you
<v Speaker 8>love about yourself. They can be big or small, like
<v Speaker 8>I cook a mean chicken pot pie, or I'm a
<v Speaker 8>great mom. And if you tell yourself enough nice things, eventually...
<v Speaker 8>you'll believe them too.
<v Speaker 4>This is like a total ray of sunshine, right?
<v Speaker 6>Did you see all of her quotes? I love it.
<v Speaker 2>Like, I love that she is remembered so kindly. And
<v Speaker 2>she did so many good things while she was here
<v Speaker 2>that that's how people are going to remember her.
<v Speaker 6>I saw Dr. Seuss, the page on Facebook.
<v Speaker 2>Posted something saying, And they talked about her imagination library
<v Speaker 2>where she gifted over 300 million books to children around
<v Speaker 2>the world. And they were like, from one literary icon
<v Speaker 2>to another, we will always love you, Dolly. So everybody
<v Speaker 2>was showing the love for Dolly Parton and continues to
<v Speaker 2>do so today.
<v Speaker 3>I saw Denver got about three and a half million
<v Speaker 3>of those books, too. So we definitely got a piece
<v Speaker 3>of that. There was some stuff floating around yesterday. I
<v Speaker 3>was doing my research on it that says they were
<v Speaker 3>saying that Dolly Parton gave away more than $ 500 million.
<v Speaker 4>Over her lifetime. I'm sure.
<v Speaker 3>That is difficult to independently verify the total that she's
<v Speaker 3>given away. But, yes, the Imagination Library, the Dolly Parton
<v Speaker 3>Foundation for Education. She paid for a bunch of kids
<v Speaker 3>to stay in school and go to college. She helped
<v Speaker 3>Tennessee wildfire victims. She helped with the COVID vaccine research,
<v Speaker 3>children's medical research, women's health care, Children's hospitals, wildlife conservation.
<v Speaker 4>The list goes on and on and on.
<v Speaker 6>It does.
<v Speaker 3>And they say she still had something like a $ 700 million,
<v Speaker 3>what do they call that, net worth when she passed.
<v Speaker 4>So what a true giver, though.
<v Speaker 2>Well, and she did so much of it anonymously, so
<v Speaker 2>we don't even know how much she actually gave.
<v Speaker 6>She was so humble about it. She didn't want people
<v Speaker 6>to know that she was doing that.
<v Speaker 4>That's the way you do it. That is the way
<v Speaker 4>you do it.
<v Speaker 3>CBS is airing an hour-long special tonight at 10 o'clock
<v Speaker 3>to pay tribute to Dolly. So that's probably 8 o'clock
<v Speaker 3>our time is what I'm guessing.
<v Speaker 4>Anyway, so if you want to watch that. If we
<v Speaker 4>have time here after... The hype. I'm going to play
<v Speaker 4>a little Dolly, too.
<v Speaker 5>Good.
<v Speaker 4>It's one of my personal favorites, actually.
<v Speaker 6>As we should.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I think so.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>We need to do it.
<v Speaker 5>All right.
<v Speaker 4>I'm going to hold on to the weatherman stuff for later.
<v Speaker 4>It just doesn't feel right.
<v Speaker 7>Okay. All right.
<v Speaker 5>What else you got?
<v Speaker 6>All right.
<v Speaker 2>Well, we're going to talk about schools just because they've
<v Speaker 2>got some schools consolidating now. Boulder Valley School District, they're
<v Speaker 2>proposing this plan to close six schools, consolidate four school buildings,
<v Speaker 2>and reduce the district's overall capacity. Now, Anna, she's a mom,
<v Speaker 2>she's got kids in Superior, and she says, you know,
<v Speaker 2>it's probably going to affect her kids.
<v Speaker 6>She's just hoping it's going to turn out okay.
<v Speaker 1>You know, I'm not thrilled, but I do appreciate the
<v Speaker 1>work that they've put into it. As long as they
<v Speaker 1>use the resources and the space well, and our classes
<v Speaker 1>don't get huge, and they take care of the teachers,
<v Speaker 1>then fine.
<v Speaker 2>Okay. And, you know, the district, they're trying to do
<v Speaker 2>the best they can as well. They're working on staffing
<v Speaker 2>and transportation plans. Because hundreds of students could change schools
<v Speaker 2>under this proposal as early as next year. So we're
<v Speaker 2>looking at a big shift in schools. And a lot
<v Speaker 2>of that reason, I mean, the kids are just not
<v Speaker 2>being born.
<v Speaker 4>People ain't doing it and doing it and doing it well.
<v Speaker 6>They don't have the kids to fill the schools.
<v Speaker 4>Get your freak on.
<v Speaker 2>And so it's like as much as people, because I
<v Speaker 2>hear people giving the schools a hard time. And it's
<v Speaker 2>like they're just trying to. get ahead of this problem
<v Speaker 2>that we've been seeing for years in Colorado. So hopefully
<v Speaker 2>this does something to alleviate all of that. But another
<v Speaker 2>thing that they're looking at doing right now is Denver
<v Speaker 2>Water considering a full.
<v Speaker 6>Ban on watering because of the drought.
<v Speaker 2>So right now they're down to two times a week,
<v Speaker 2>and they are set to decide today whether to ban
<v Speaker 2>its 1.5 million units. customers from all lawn watering starting
<v Speaker 2>in October.
<v Speaker 4>As drought conditions continue.
<v Speaker 6>Across the region.
<v Speaker 2>I did read a story that says El Nino is
<v Speaker 2>supposed to bring a lot more moisture this fall.
<v Speaker 4>We are supposed to get hit.
<v Speaker 2>Hopefully that helps us a little bit, but 90% of
<v Speaker 2>the state, I believe, is in a drought right now.
<v Speaker 4>Do you see pictures of Lake Dillon right now?
<v Speaker 3>You can walk out into the middle of it with
<v Speaker 3>your metal detector.
<v Speaker 2>It's shocking and it's sad.
<v Speaker 3>And yeah, I mean, again, they said the lake has
<v Speaker 3>looked like that before. Like, it's like, you know, this is,
<v Speaker 3>it goes up and down, but.
<v Speaker 2>Again, something they have to get ahead of though, because
<v Speaker 2>if it's like that and they're just letting people water
<v Speaker 2>whenever they want, like then it's going to get worse.
<v Speaker 6>So this is something, again, I just, I feel like
<v Speaker 6>they'd have to get ahead of it.
<v Speaker 3>This is probably something where they're going to ban, like,
<v Speaker 3>washing your cars and stuff, too, outside, I would imagine.
<v Speaker 6>Yep, I imagine.
<v Speaker 4>Scary.
<v Speaker 7>All right.
<v Speaker 2>And then just one more, because this is happening today,
<v Speaker 2>coming up later, the world-famous Waffle Wednesday. So this is
<v Speaker 2>Battery 61 off Calamith Street. And so they've got a
<v Speaker 2>breakfast mixer and International Dog Day party on the roof deck.
<v Speaker 2>So the event is free and open to people and dogs.
<v Speaker 2>And they've got a local artist there that's going to
<v Speaker 2>be painting portraits of your dogs.
<v Speaker 6>And that money is going.
<v Speaker 2>To go towards Foothills Animal Shelters Community Room in Golden.
<v Speaker 2>So they're going to paint a mural there at the
<v Speaker 2>community room in Golden. So if you can go and
<v Speaker 2>support them at Battery 61 off Kalamath Street.
<v Speaker 6>Again in Denver, do so today.
<v Speaker 5>So there you go.
<v Speaker 6>There's your Mount High hype.
<v Speaker 4>All right.
<v Speaker 3>So Dolly is on record as saying that she was
<v Speaker 3>driving around with her husband, Carl Dean, in their car,
<v Speaker 3>their convertible, back in 1993 in this rock hit.
<v Speaker 4>Came on the radio. And she's like, I like.
<v Speaker 3>This Collective Soul. So she did a bluegrass rendition of Shine.
<v Speaker 3>And she ended up winning a Grammy for it for
<v Speaker 3>Best Female Country Vocal Performance. And it is by far
<v Speaker 3>one of my most favorite Dolly songs. I'm a 90s
<v Speaker 3>alternative slut anyway.
<v Speaker 6>Well, Collective Soul, I mean, there it is.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, come on.
<v Speaker 3>So for the next three minutes and 41 seconds, we'll
<v Speaker 3>let Dolly wow you this morning with Jeremy, Katie, and Josh.
