[00:00:00:03 - 00:00:22:22]
Somebody super famous dies at the same day before or the same time as you and you're completely forgotten I thought earlier that was a what is it Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. Yeah, he died later that day and people come like sorry Farrah I'm thinking about you. Yeah, I feel I hate myself for saying it, but I'm like Tim Curry and whatever
[00:00:23:29 - 00:00:24:13]
Dolly
[00:00:25:22 - 00:01:23:04]
There's a lot of people wrong. I hear they died. I'm gonna like I thought he's already dead (Music) All right, as we have the opening ceremonies for the Woody and Jim podcast I want you to know first before we go to anything else that I've reworked the opening theme song There's been a change. Yes, a lot of people have mentioned that well the opening theme song was not familiar enough and was aggressively mediocre. It was familiar to me. Yes. It was from an old bad movie You know like did a twist on it, but nobody knows that movie except for me. Yeah, okay and me The two people who were on the podcast who it was so I've changed a little bit, but we'll get to that in just a moment Okay. All right How's things been Savannah? I know you had to go to Florida for work
[00:01:24:19 - 00:01:35:01]
I went down there for work. It was like a really quick turnaround and I will say that I don't do well in heat It was like a double entendre kind of
[00:01:36:15 - 00:02:50:29]
Yeah, but basically it was like drive down to Florida Shoot this wedding come right back and then like had another Like I had a burlesque show to shoot like the day I got back So it was just like a lot of stuff So much stuff and I am NOT a creature that thrives in heat and sunlight and things like that And then my sleep schedule was like really off So on the way home when I was pulled over by a police officer, I thought maybe I was hallucinating because It's 3 a.m. My sleep schedule's off. It's been so hot the last couple days Is this really happening? Yeah, it's gonna last forever Let me tell you why me being pulled over was so dumb and I'm still confused About exactly what happened. So like coming back from Rosemary Beach area Like at some point there's like these back roads in like, Florida, Alabama, whatever. It's 3 a.m I'm going just fine on this two-lane highway and I drive through Like a light that was flashing yellow What does yellow mean that means keep going you're fine caution look around
[00:02:54:10 - 00:03:52:11]
It's about to turn red go go go I thought yellow meant slow down Okay, and I said and it's a two-lane highway. That was a straight shot So I saw it happening for long enough that it wasn't like oh, maybe it's about to turn red like it's just flashing yellow so I Slowed down as I'm going through the light and then like 30 seconds later There's blue lights behind me and I'm like you were going to slow all the things I could like I was so genuinely confused at that time of night. He figured this person's hammer Mr. Dude comes over to my window and I'm I'm like very confused and You know, he was like, you know, I pulled you over and I was like Quite frankly, no, I don't and he was like, well, you know, we just you you slow down like a lot and I'm like Well, yeah I was under the impression that yellow means to be cautious and to slow down like green means go, you know
[00:03:53:24 - 00:04:50:22]
And he was like, well, you know, it's kind of a quiet area I'm like we have people who are drunk just speed through here all the time. So it's dangerous So if you're going too fast or too slow They will pull you over. So you're telling me I was like, are you saying that I shouldn't have slowed down at all? Because who are breaking the law? And I'm putting myself in danger by following the rule Like I genuinely was so flabbergasted and so he like took my license and my best friend was in the car with me You know and she was like asleep in the passenger seat and she was like trying to calm me down Like and I wasn't catching an attitude with him. But when he was like running my license and stuff I was annoyed and alone with her Your hurry goes up automatically I was like, you know pissed when it was just the two of us I was like, this is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever been pulled over for in my life and she was like Well just I bet he's gonna be nice. Just like stay calm. I was like, I don't need you to tell me to stay calm I'm not dumb
[00:04:54:06 - 00:06:18:03]
Anyways, he ended up being like well, I don't think you're drunk or anything So like no ticket or no warning. I'm like, why the fuck would there be a ticket or a warning in the first place? like it felt so Patronizing in this way like he was yeah that he could get me in trouble for something even though I did nothing wrong I don't know. Maybe I'm just seeing it that way. But yeah, that was annoying That's my biggest takeaway Over so many times in my life never for following the rules and you're out in the middle of nowhere like Alabama Or you're gonna pull over and buy boiled peanuts Did I ruin your night by not being on this Wait, there's like a really good opportunity for a joke here. Are you guys? Yes, you know, you could be like sponsored by your mom Yeah, now you're not allowed to be in this commercial Being this now I have to recuse myself from the whole thing why because there is a rule That like no f-bombs are allowed did your mom Judy Santestela? I Say you couldn't be in it or you just taking yourself out of it. I'm taking myself out. Okay. Okay Yeah, you're you're you're volunteering is tribute to not
[00:06:19:04 - 00:06:46:21]
This gracefully, but I can say be helpful she works so hard. She does. I will be so helpful All right. She has been killing it in the real estate business. She has been Really successful for a long time She's a real estate agent people dream about like the one that annoys you that you feel like they don't like really earn their commission And you're just like I don't want to give them like literally any of this Right, she goes above and beyond so hard sometimes that it's like it is stop being such a good
[00:06:47:29 - 00:07:26:15]
Your mom has that really good mom energy and yeah any real estate agent you hire you want to be a good mom energy Right. Yeah. Well, she cares a lot like after we lost my dad like the whole Cultivating like a sense of home. Yes. She came so important to her Okay, you know so she really cares I can say that for her, but I can't I can't can't say anything else I gotta go I could feel the f-bomb building in my brain swin his mom She wrote a script. I don't know who wrote it. Yeah, so we should honor the script I was not be beholden. All right, okay. Hey Jim
[00:07:27:18 - 00:07:31:18]
Have you heard that there are five D's to make you need a realtor?
[00:07:32:22 - 00:07:52:16]
Let me guess among those D's be debt drama and deeply questionable Life decisions, you know warm, but no there's diamonds diapers divorce downsizing and death
[00:07:54:15 - 00:08:00:07]

You have less sleep and somehow less space you get divorced Congratulations, and now you need two of everything including emotional support downsizing
[00:08:29:00 - 00:08:51:25]
That's when you what that's when you finally admit that your guest room is just a storage unit with a bed pretend to be to a bed pretending to have purpose I met with existential. Yeah
[00:08:53:20 - 00:08:54:29]
What am I?
[00:08:56:08 - 00:09:08:02]
And what about death? Well, we're not joking about that one. Okay, so when dad is dead you guys Still you said you were gonna be part of this I
[00:09:09:27 - 00:09:16:20]
Just saying the dead dad is like the inception of her whole career. Yeah, I'm kinda to be real. Yes, right
[00:09:18:11 - 00:09:48:12]
So when life hits all the D's well, that's when you need to call Judy Knapp with Dutton real estate Middle Tennessee's real estate expert professional problem-solver and part-time therapist for houses and the humans inside them She handles transitions with precision heart and Hump no and humor humor and humor. Dot your Tn home finders dot-com Just list just sold just call Judy Judy Knapp with Dutton real estate way to go. Joo-joo-joo Oh That reminds me we're gonna do a joke off in a little bit Yes, requested do a Woody and Jim joke off I said you're slowing down at the light reminds me of this this one of my favorite jokes, which is There's there's this woman she's she's driving and there's somebody else in the passenger seat and
[00:11:34:24 - 00:11:37:01]
Every time she comes up to
[00:11:44:22 - 00:11:47:23]
Completely opposite wrong. Okay, it was
[00:11:49:08 - 00:11:52:15]
Okay, it's a great is it she stops in a green light
[00:11:53:16 - 00:12:23:11]
no, okay, it's a She floors it before when there's a red light. Okay blows through it. Okay. Yeah and says You know, it's okay. My sister does that. Yeah does it all the time? You might and then the person's like, oh my god, and then another red light and she floors it goes through she says it's okay My brother does that or whatever, you know, and then finally they come to a green light and stops and the person says Why did you stop? Because my brother might be coming the other way
[00:12:24:11 - 00:12:25:10]
So
[00:12:26:27 - 00:12:27:24]
Not worth telling
[00:12:30:19 - 00:12:48:01]
Especially cuz I couldn't remember it the sweetest part was when you guys were helping each other Yeah, we worked together a long time. We try to help each other through the long history of okay, you're struggling Faster
[00:12:53:11 - 00:13:24:26]
I mean and like you somehow know what the other one is talking about like that's pretty cute There's another like it was like in a military barracks Yeah And they're they're all going to sleep for the night and one guy yells out 42 and everyone laughs and you know a new guy In there goes what's that all about? It says? Oh these same jokes We've told over and over so everybody kind of knows what they are. We just numbered them You know and you know, so the guy goes 18 everyone laughs ha ha ha and so the guy says well, I'll try one 67 and no one laughs he goes. Well, some people just don't have a good way to tell a joke
[00:13:27:23 - 00:14:00:28]
Just not the joke it's the way you tell it was 67 should we like stop now? Seven part of the original joke or is it like something that's infiltrated your mind because the whole like so seven I'm sure you've been in septice seven. Yeah, you didn't realize it seven They got you. Well, I've been a busy looking for employment and I have a couple things lined up next Tuesday the first of September I'm going to be doing gender wars if you love gender wars and you miss playing
[00:14:03:23 - 00:14:15:19]
It's at hotshots Sports bar and grill in Smarna. Yeah Yeah, they do trivia that night and then afterwards about eight o'clock or so Come on and play gender wars and we'll have some fun
[00:14:16:26 - 00:14:32:22]
Night activity. Yes. So yeah. Yeah go out there and yeah There's people out there that always said, you know what? I am so good at gender wars Yes, I've like another why don't you why didn't you call in and play and they're like
[00:14:34:26 - 00:15:32:04]
Now's the time for you to prove it that's right and if somebody's standing there in front of you with a microphone It's harder for you to get away Yeah, so all right It's lined up. I get to know there's some possibilities about doing trivia nights and karaoke nights at a few places So so fun. I'm hoping to be out in the public and doing stuff because I love being around people. Yeah, that's that's your element Yeah, yeah, and then today my big highlight was I mow the lawn and I had to both my dogs Kevin and Lucy They both had mice in their mouths Oh running around the backyard. That's a great dog day I had to get them both to drop them so I could scoop it up with a shovel and throw it over the back My neighbor's gonna hate me but the mice are probably not okay. No. No, they they did not survive the ordeal. Oh That's so sad. It was kind of sad nature's scary Yeah
[00:15:33:10 - 00:17:08:15]
I Didn't do it. I do it. Let's see I played hockey and it was a I went to a couple of movies over the weekend. I saw the end of oak street Oh, is that good, which is like a neighborhood? It gets transported back in time and there's dinosaurs. All right, if you love dinosaurs The effects and the action stuff really good. Really? Okay the rest hot trash In it because she's in everything now but like As a friend said 70 percent and Hathaway is better than most right? So she's like, okay in this. Okay, and you wanna Gregor You know, I'm a great is it you and or even You want He was in it and I don't know if I can blame him but he was terrible really I think it was a script Obi-wan Kenobi was terrible. He was really bad like the people in this movie every all the actors Were almost like they were reptiles from outer space and they put on human suits and they didn't know what to do And there's somebody a whole lot of research on what it's like to know There's somebody in the in their ear, you know Like so, okay. Now a human would do this And then they wait a few seconds and they get it wrong So like a tina store version of impractical jokers, but they suck but they just weren't good at humans It was just terrible Um, and then I saw the coyote versus acme movie I'm excited about that
[00:17:09:18 - 00:17:52:19]
It's good. Okay. Okay, like try not to because it got held up and they tried to shelve it For all the all the reasons that they didn't release this movie three years ago when it was done Don't let that like build it up like it's it's good. It's good. It was funny. It was very satisfying If you love loony tunes, I think you'll be really happy Uh, I smiled I had I had a good time good movie. All right Well, we like to venture into the new theme song. Yeah Okay, so so you didn't Finish the final verse of the last one this no all new that was like left hanging. This is a refresh This is a refresh. Okay, and it's a lot more familiar. All right
[00:17:54:29 - 00:18:11:19]
One eight seven seven cars for kids donate your cards no, that's not it Um, oh it's time up for the woody engine podcast Savannah's here and we're off the leash Man
[00:18:13:01 - 00:18:40:10]
So, oh, I like it. We're talking gin doors anyway for your yeah, you brought it all together I think that's a really good idea Yeah, i'm a fan and I love this thing. So that's good. I think that was that was well received. Yeah That went well. Yeah Well, of course we have sad news As uh this week we lost america's treasure Because we lost dolly parton But no
[00:18:41:15 - 00:19:00:19]
It hurts. It still hurts. It's raw And she had cancer that she never revealed Yeah, she just hinted at some except health doctors some health problems. She did in a video she mentioned, but that was it But all of a sudden she was gone. That's just so sad I
[00:19:02:06 - 00:19:38:24]
If anyone is watching those are the most fabulous those are just goggles I brought uh sunglasses with me Just in case anyone is watching. Uh, because I am not okay And I refuse to be a person that cries on camera or at least is like seen crying on camera And I would say if there were ever an occasion in my life where I was Very close to being someone who cries on camera It's like this whole dolly situation like I have been absolutely wrecked since yesterday My mom called me and broke the news and I was having a fine day
[00:19:39:27 - 00:19:55:06]
And I literally screamed like and that sounds like it's so dramatic And i'm not typically one of those people that like has a Para-social relationship like with people that i've never Like physically been around before
[00:19:56:15 - 00:20:33:12]
But I feel like it's so layered like her impact on Tennessee The entire world like in some ways like as a woman I feel Like she helped me make sense of myself in so many ways like because she's this multi-faceted extremely smart creature who also is so playful and like Was the first person to like crack a sex joke or like put her tints out on the internet or something like, you know She's on the cover of playboy, but also was like such a woman of faith and kindness and family like she embodied everything christian
[00:20:34:17 - 00:21:14:06]
ever I'm just like she exemplified what christianity is supposed to be like the love of jesus If that's something that like resonates and if you love dolly It's a really good time to go down a rabbit hole and check out some of the stuff she's done Because she's done so many really weird things. She did a music video fabulous hulk hogan. Yeah called A headlock on my heart where they get married at the end after she's ringsided arresting She Was everything she did was just so great and so genuine and she just she loved life and we loved her right back Well, and it's like even like as a mother like fuck I gave birth to wolfy at vanderbilt and
[00:21:15:08 - 00:23:55:12]
When you have a baby like in a hospital like in tennessee or certainly at least Hospitals that are like partnered up with her foundation. It's like he was like automatically enrolled for imagination library And like so she sent like hundreds of millions of books to Every kids every kid that was born like from the time They were born like every month until they were five years old It's like the first piece of mail my son ever got on this planet was from dolly park Oh, that's so sweet. Do you know what I mean? Like for the love of reading? Yes Totally and that that's true for like so many kids like in the state of tennessee and like it's a worldwide program now And like that whole thing was inspired by her love for her father, which is you know, like because he couldn't read or write Right and she felt like it kept him from a lot of things So it's just like when you realize that this woman like kept herself from being a billionaire because she was so generous And was giving away her money all the time Reinvesting it in her community to raise other people up raising money for the covid vaccine Oh my gosh, I got the maderna vaccine because I was like, I want the dolly one. They gave me the choice I mean, you know what i'm saying? Yeah So it's just like someone on tick tock. I wish I could remember their names. She put it really beautifully She was like, you know people around the world ever wondered like why tennessee in particular is like taking this news so hard It's because like dolly was one of those rare people that when she became something She didn't try to get away from where she came from like Her hometown is the first place that she planted her flag and she was like I am going to raise everybody up She doubled down like yes, i'm not bigger than this I'm not gonna go live in la and like forget my roots or anything like that Like i'm exactly where I want to be like that's just so rare and so special and I think like Even what i've talked to you guys about I think on the first episode of this podcast is like, you know when I went to school to study like International affairs and diplomacy and things like that my entire takeaway from it was like cultural diplomacy Like artists and musicians they were so much more effective than any politician ever could be because people trust them And I feel like dolly is the best example of that like No matter what end of the political spectrum you fall on no matter like what your ethnicity Or like whatever you subscribe to in life, like I think humanity just universally agreed on her, right? That like whatever else we don't have in common. We love her and we know she loves us She's one of those rare people. I mean you put her in the same, you know Mount Rushmore as you know To uh, you know bob ross and mr. Rogers Steve erwin
[00:23:57:11 - 00:24:37:21]
Goodness Erwin died on my birthday when I was a little kid So and I loved him and I actually have brought him up in the last 24 hours as I have actually been weeping Over this like repeatedly is like it feels like losing dolly That's how I felt when we lost steve erwin It's someone who was just so good and living so Authentically like in their purpose to love other people and other creatures And so I guess I just it's like I feel devastated Because I feel like humanity lost something that we really need right now Like we needed to have her in common. We needed her presence I'm like, I don't know if i'm just tweaking but I literally feel like the air is different
[00:24:38:26 - 00:24:59:08]
You know, it's like you could just feel the disturbance in the force. It's like when dumbledore died It's like we lost something. It's gonna be a long time before we get over those Let me tell you can I tell you some like uh, okay, they're not personal. They're second-hand stories. So Just down the street from here. Uh long time ago maybe early 2000s
[00:25:00:10 - 00:25:23:13]
I'm driving along the road and I see oh there's That's a house just a house among other houses, but it like oh somebody put up a sign They turned it into a chiropractor's office And it was dr. Mashburn who we've met before And he came out of retirement decided to go back into practice And so I pulled in i'm like I need a chiropractor
[00:25:24:17 - 00:25:37:18]
Here's my guy. So I walk in and he's like Got this weird look on his face And he introduces himself and he says i'm sorry i'm a little taken back
[00:25:38:24 - 00:25:42:20]
You're my second customer who's just pulled in
[00:25:43:28 - 00:28:12:08]
My first customer was dolly parton. Oh, wow. She was just there. Yeah, she was the first person that walked in now. She Drove around town. She didn't have a posse. She didn't have any with her. Yeah, she wasn't with her husband She wasn't all glammed up with the rhinestones. No wigs. He said they wouldn't even recognize her She's the real hannah montana. Absolutely. Yeah, and uh Our my doctor dr. Big daddy who's also your doctor's right? Uh, he also would run into her in the publics down the road here. So she has Had a place here off of old hickory lake, but she would just go to the store and nobody would recognize her she would just do her thing and Like hi to me that that is like somebody who is one of the most famous people in the world. Yeah But she just conducted her life in a way that Was completely opposite. It's like she didn't build a rocket ship Uh, she didn't you know try to influence, you know buying politics or all this stuff she just Everything she did was genuine and kind and kind never forgot where she came from Yeah, and she's the person with the most ridiculous hair makeup, huh? Boobs outfits all that stuff. She was like the most ridiculous looking authentic person ever all in one and Like I I don't drive down the street without thinking like Oh, she just lived down the road for me. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean gosh Like I heard that even uh on broadway like when it happened that like the music stopped down there All the bars turned off their music And acknowledged it and just sat there quietly for a while and like just imagining especially like what a chaotic loud place broadway is To imagine it so quiet that must have been powerful powerful and eerie and devastating but fitting because it's like what do you do? The last time everything got quiet was 9 11. Yeah, I mean 9 11 Then dolly. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's I don't know. I'm just i'm so sad He always always wanted to meet her and we we'd be Sometimes we'd be in the same building as us, but yeah, we'd never we never met her Yeah, that's just something so sad about it. The closest we ever came this is like, you know, six degrees of kevin bacon. Yeah
[00:28:13:08 - 00:29:16:18]
is Back in the late 90s and 2000s early 2000s Uh, we had the woody and jim christmas special every year It was about an hour long It would have special guests. We record stuff for months anybody that came through during the year We would say like let's come in and yeah You know comedians let's talk about christmas. We're going to use it on the christmas special. It was a variety show and Like we'd pour all this time and effort into it. It was a labor of love and it was only for an hour but it was special and Adam Intern adam who was on the show. He worked at a sound studio down the street on music row and he came in One day and he said Dolly was in the studio. She was a regular there, I guess and she said I heard your christmas special and I really liked it Oh, so that's yeah, that's the that's the closest connection I think we ever had to dolly but to know she had Liked it. Yeah And appreciated it
[00:29:17:19 - 00:29:18:09]
affirmation
[00:29:20:05 - 00:29:31:23]
That's the best And there was talk about renaming the airport They should name it the dolly parton natural international airport. Yes, as opposed to naming it after some politician who's not even dead
[00:29:32:24 - 00:29:56:27]
Did you see I don't know if anybody can figure out what i'm talking about. Did you see? The petition like did you sign it? I signed it. Uh-huh. Oh, no, I I still have to do that and also They're saying like well, you know may 4th is star wars day Dolly parton day should be nine to five. Yeah September 25th Oh, that's gonna be a that's gotta that's definitely
[00:29:58:01 - 00:31:32:00]
Easily done. So well, I also wonder if there's gonna be um, like a statue or a bust of her like put in the state capital because if you'll remember There was a time where they were wanting to get rid of the nathan bedford forest bust and right idea was well I think there's a lot of people that are out there. Yeah, but there's a lot of people that are out there And she's like it's a yeah, I think she could put one of dolly there Right like like this is not a new idea since her path I think she had talked about it for years Yeah, but I think she had actually said that she you know didn't want one while she was alive That like she was like, yeah I feel I if that feels goofy like maybe when i'm dead and so it's like well, girl I guess it's time to revisit the conversation. A side note, when we first moved here, of course, on the side of 65 around Brentwood, there was the Nathan Bedford Forest on a horse. Yeah. The statue. Yeah, until it finally-- Is it still out there? No, it's been taken down finally. And they also, you know, because people would go throw rocks at it, they'd spray paint the horse pink. They'd do all kinds of stuff, take down all the flags. But people who supported it, and also at the state capitol would say, well, you know, sure, he was famous for starting the Ku Klux Klan, but he got out of the Klan before it turned bad. And I'm going, so they were just doing car washes and bake sales until then? Okay. You know, they got bored with bake sales and car washes. Why don't we burn some crosses instead? Yeah, like-- Why don't we just hate people that were different from us? I just showed up. I wasn't part of the, like, I didn't run it or start it. I was on this fitted sheet and put eye holes in it, and I don't know. I thought we were just ghosts. We were just having fun.
[00:31:33:04 - 00:31:36:14]
So, did you guys hear this about Dolly? I don't know if,
[00:31:38:10 - 00:32:31:18]
somebody told me this this morning that she recorded a song that nobody's heard and put it in a time capsule. It's not supposed to be played until she-- Till her-- Her 100th birthday. 2046? Yeah. Yeah, that would be her 100th birthday. How cool is that? That is awesome. It's so cool. I feel like I'm looking forward to it and I'm also afraid of it. And at the same time, I'm asking myself, I feel like she was kind of soft launching the fact that she was dying. Well, obviously she must have known for a long time. Yeah, I don't feel like she was explicitly saying that, but she did keep coming out and just being like, "Well, my hair's not too good. "I get dehydrated, but I'm gonna come back." You know what I mean? It just kept happening. But she would never say,
[00:32:33:07 - 00:34:19:05]
"My time is short." Because that would draw the attention to her that she always avoided. Right. Like, it's not about, how can you say this about one of the most awesome people that's been around for a long time? But she didn't want it to be about her. It was always like, she didn't want that kind of attention. It just feels like the loss of an actual family member. It does. Like, because she was that angry. She's everybody's aunt. Dressed a little weird, loved you, and was just fun to be around. Oh my gosh, I mean, even like my, I do boudoir photography with my best friend Rachel, and one of our most popular sessions is literally named for Dolly Parton. You know what I mean? It's like she's everywhere in my life. And so, I don't know. You mentioned her clothes. Did you see that she apparently asked to be buried in cotton? No. Because she said she's been wearing rhinestones and for so long, she needed to be comfortable. So they put her-- She'll be buried on Mausoleum next to her husband. Next to Carl Dean, yeah. They're putting her in a cotton dress and high heels. I think that's cool. That's very cool. That's the best. If anybody's earned the right to do that, she has. Cool in life and even in death. Yeah. It's so cool. Or the icon. All right, so now a lot of people have been talking about the trilogies of death, because they always come in threes. So, Dolly-- She had Hayden Panettiere. So shocking. Big surprise. And also, just let me just pause right there. What a time for Nashville, because the apex of Hayden Panettiere's career was being on the show Nashville. So it's like that and then losing Dolly right after that. It's like, what is going on in our city? What is it here? Somebody burned some sage. I don't like it. I don't like it at all, yeah.
[00:34:20:12 - 00:35:28:21]
Hayden Panettiere, it was sad. She had so many troubles. She had a lot of-- And difficulties, she had a hard life. I don't care what you say, like, oh, she's a famous celebrity. She had a hard life that I would wish upon nobody. So yeah, that was just terribly sad. And more recently, Tim Curry, who you remember from "Rocky Hart Picture Show" and "It", the original, he was the OG Pennywise. He was also, I think he was, I think it was the Captain Long John Silver in "Buffet Treasure Island". Yes, he was. I loved that movie. He was also like the douchey bellhop in "Home Alone 2", "Lost in View". "Home Alone 2", yeah. That's so sad. But I feel like he at least wasn't doing well for a while. He had a stroke and he had some issues. Yeah, he was not in good health for a long time. Yeah, he was still pretty young, but I feel like Hayden and Dolly just like, were so shocked, whereas his, I was just like, well, he's been sick for a long time. So like, you know, maybe him. Isn't it kind of weird that like, you can live this incredible life? I mean, Tim Curry, you know, did some amazing stuff, lived a great life.
[00:35:30:10 - 00:35:53:16]
But somebody super famous dies the day before or the same time as you, and you're completely forgotten. I thought about that earlier. That was, what is it, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. Yeah. Because he died later that day, and people kind of went like, sorry Farrah, I'm not thinking about you. Yeah, I feel I hate myself for saying it, but I'm like, Tim Curry, yeah, whatever.
[00:35:54:24 - 00:35:55:09]
Dolly.
[00:35:56:17 - 00:36:00:28]
There's a lot of people like, Which is wrong. A lot of people like that, but I hear they died, and I'm like, I thought he was already dead.
[00:36:02:24 - 00:36:21:27]
(Laughing) I thought he'd be dead for a long time. And then I did an interview with Randy Travis's wife, and he was sitting there silently, because he can't communicate anymore. I thought, I thought he was already dead. Yeah, there's a lot of people that, yeah, I'm shocked that they're still around. All right, this concludes the death part of our problem.
[00:36:23:16 - 00:37:07:11]
I don't think it counts as the three though, because Hayden Penateer was like a week before. Oh really, you don't think it counts? I don't think that counts. I think it's-- What are the rules? Does it have to be like within a 48 hour period? Two to three days, Toph. Okay, then who has to get inside the house if you're picking who's saved? Do you know what I mean? Like if you're worried about anyone over the next 24 hours, who are you like, get in the house and stay there? What celebrity needs to die? In the next day. The next thing you die, you just don't want them to, is what I'm trying to say. My God. Well, there must be three. Yeah, I'd say-- You have to be a certain level of famous. Say start, yeah, wear a face mask everywhere, Tom Hanks.
[00:37:09:16 - 00:37:14:03]
You are also a treasure, we cannot lose you. Yeah, bliss.
[00:37:15:14 - 00:37:27:10]
All right, okay. So we need to do a joke off. Yes, we do. Okay. And these are terrible. So Woody and I tell each other jokes. Terrible jokes. We know they're bad.
[00:37:28:15 - 00:37:44:19]
They're awful. That's the point. Who can hold their laughs? That's the thing, I'm gonna try to make Woody laugh. He's gonna try to make me laugh with the worst jokes ever. Savannah, you can laugh all you want. If you find it necessary. I doubt you will, because you suck.
[00:37:46:06 - 00:37:47:12]
Sometimes it makes it great.
[00:37:48:12 - 00:37:53:04]
We'll see. But it's even more surreal whether you still have your minions glasses on.
[00:37:54:13 - 00:37:55:16]
They're protective.
[00:37:57:24 - 00:38:08:23]
Emotionally protective. Exactly. Hi. Would you like to begin, Jim? Sure. All right, it's a Woody and Jim joke off podcast style. First person to laugh loses.
[00:38:09:29 - 00:38:19:24]
Woody, my stylist realized that her scissors weren't working, so she apologized. Hmm. And I said, "Sorry's not gonna cut it."
[00:38:23:18 - 00:38:26:16]
Jim, I have a friend named Bob who has no arms.
[00:38:27:19 - 00:38:28:05]
Knock, knock.
[00:38:29:10 - 00:38:31:00]
Who's there? It's not Bob.
[00:38:33:07 - 00:38:59:08]
(Laughing) I'm okay. Sorry, it was a great joke. It was a delivery, I feel like it really made it great. Oh my God, that's a great joke. I really like your dramatic voice. That's the quickest joke I'll have, right? All right, we'll have to keep going then. One token joke. Okay, all right. To cap it off. All right. Woody, I changed all my passwords to Kenny. Really? Now I have all Kenny logins.
[00:39:02:11 - 00:39:06:19]
Jim, what does Natalie Harp eat when she's out with the president?
[00:39:08:07 - 00:39:09:28]
I'm not sure. Depends.
[00:39:13:02 - 00:39:20:20]
She must at least like the smell of them. Wicked burn, roasted. Okay, well I did not anticipate.
[00:39:22:00 - 00:39:43:00]
I mean, it was so good. That's really an excellent joke though, because he has no arms. A plus our delivery, truly, that was after all. Thank you, I tried to make it as dramatic as possible. That was so great, I really sold it. Yeah. My experience as a thespian has come through. Thank you, and good night. Act two, thank you. (Laughing)
[00:39:44:09 - 00:39:52:29]
All right, so I'm curious, are there things in Nashville that, I'm sorry, I'm still laughing, but.
[00:39:54:00 - 00:40:04:11]
Armless bomb. Or bomb. It's not bomb, who was it though? It's not a bomb. But who? I don't know, but it wasn't Bob. You can eliminate Bob from the list. For the FBI. Yes.
[00:40:05:24 - 00:41:14:29]
Things that are overrated in Nashville. I think things that get, have this tremendous reputation, but maybe don't deserve it. Some places don't deserve it at all. Some places, the shine is worn off. I was trying to think what is slightly overrated. And I'm gonna say, the Loveless Cafe. Oh wow. The food is still top notch, but everything around it, the store, and the place itself. Surviving by the reputation. It's like, I don't know, it feels like there's a venture capital company behind it. Isn't a venture capital company behind everything. Yeah. It doesn't feel like, I don't know, something special, but the food is still really good. Yeah. Do you have one, Woody? Also overrated, I would believe every bar on Broadway that's owned by a country and western singer. Yeah. I mean, because where else can they go? I mean, what else can they do that's different from all the other bars that are exactly like that? Yeah. Yeah, they are kind of all exactly the same. They are.
[00:41:16:14 - 00:41:33:06]
I don't think anybody locally would say they're great. It's, I think, tourists are gonna say like, oh yeah, you know, I went to Post Malone's, which is exactly like Jason Aldean's, which is exactly like, churches. And I even have to tell my wife about these.
[00:41:35:11 - 00:41:40:29]
There's been some new ones open up. Didn't, oh, I can't even think of his name. Forget that part.
[00:41:42:12 - 00:42:46:27]
(Laughing) We'll edit that out. Don't you worry. Don't worry. I don't know. I'll be editing for broadcast. I feel like so much has changed. Like all the places that were staple places are gone now. So I feel like I don't even have the chance to be like, it's overrated. Like for example, like Nashville's, that was like, that was a staple for a long time. They're still wanting Green Hills, I think. And they're, or did they close that one too? I don't know. And that was kind of a throw off. Yeah, that wasn't the same. That's like, and if we were talking about, you know, like celebrities that we don't want to die, if something happens to Robert's Western world, I'm gonna be really mad. I feel like it's like the last bastion. It is. It's the only genuine thing left. That is it. And you can go in there and you know, it's a crappy little place. Get a baloney sandwich. A fried baloney sandwich. Listen to some band that shows up. It's like, that is what Nashville is. Or some superstar who like just goes over after their show at the arena. And knows where the real deal is. Yeah. I guess it's like the Santa's pub of Broadway.
[00:42:49:21 - 00:42:57:06]
Santa's pub, I, when we first went there, was when we all went there, it was the first time I went there.
[00:42:58:11 - 00:43:19:05]
And I did not know about Santa's pub. And it was the coolest thing ever. Yeah. I don't know if like, can that, I can't, I don't think I've, I haven't gone, I went back once, but I don't think if I went back, I would feel the same way. Is there like a first time at Santa's that you can't recreate?
[00:43:20:08 - 00:43:30:02]
I mean, I suppose so. Like just because like, you know, by nature of it being the first visit, there's something, it's like losing your virginity, you know what I mean? Like it's just, it's always gonna be the first visit.
[00:43:31:05 - 00:43:41:12]
It's gonna be awkward, it's gonna be dirty. And magical. Magical, little bit of shame. I don't wanna do this again, but also I'm a little scared. You're not gonna wanna sit on the toilet.
[00:43:43:03 - 00:44:12:10]
The bathrooms are kind of gnarly. Yeah. You're not gonna call them, yeah. With a sign that says, go ahead and sit down ladies, our tramps can jump. Oh my God, have you? Have a look at my father's favorite show. Here's something that I have to ask because if we're thinking about things that are overrated, I'm like, okay, well, I don't feel like anything immediately comes to mind for me, but I do know things that I've heard about a lot that I'm like, well, maybe you guys have been there and you can tell me if it's overrated or not. So like, for example, I've heard a lot about
[00:44:14:07 - 00:44:28:08]
Frank Sinatra's, have you guys been to that? Woody, I know you love Frank Sinatra in general. Have you been there? I've heard it's great. I think because we've done years and years of morning radio, so. Staying up past eight o'clock, that has always been the struggle. Difficult.
[00:44:29:28 - 00:44:42:27]
There's a lot of, that is a place that I've been to Johnny Cash's and that's just kind of a tourist trap. Yeah. Yeah, I haven't been there either. Okay, I've also heard a lot about House of Cards. Have you guys been there? Is it overrated? Now that's a...
[00:44:43:27 - 00:45:28:20]
I think it's overpriced. I've never been there, but. It's a cool experience once you do get in and spend all your money. I've talked to some people who were, like they have so much money, it doesn't matter. Right. Right? Yeah. And they still said, boy, that was a little expensive. Huh. Like, so I think, yeah, it's a premium experience, but everybody says it's great. We should hit them up and we should be like, hey, listen, we are trying to decide if places around Nashville are overrated. So make us dinner, sing us a song. We put it in people's-- And we'll do a review. Watching or listening to this podcast to give us free stuff and we'll say nice things about you. As long time locals, we will endorse you if you don't suck.
[00:45:29:27 - 00:46:19:05]
(Laughing) And by endorse, I just mean like, say, like it's not overrated, you should go. This isn't like that influencer extortion, right? Like why you're like, we should be everything for free or I'll tell the world. I won't tell my seven followers not to go to your hotel. You know what though, I do feel like in some sense, like, okay, if it's like a small business, I'm not for influencer extortion. If it's like for a corporation or something that's backed by venture capital, absolutely extort them. I don't care, take all their money, they're fine, they're doing fine and you should feed your family by any means necessary. So I say we just go for it. All right. I don't feel bad, especially House of Cards with how expensive it's supposed to be. They can give us a steak. They could. Right. Yeah. Show us a magic trick, go. Yeah, we're valuable. Yes. We're valuable.
[00:46:20:20 - 00:46:23:00]
Magic me and magic me now.
[00:46:25:07 - 00:46:25:22]
Yeah.
[00:46:29:29 - 00:46:57:29]
Also, I know it's the big size. You guys, you know how last week I was telling you that like for my birthday, my friends and I were gonna go on a ghost hunt? Yeah. At the Waverly Hills inventory. Yeah. Yeah, we had a lot of people say, oh, you gotta do this, you gotta do this. Oh, okay. So what's the latest on that? So we're supposed to go on Friday. Oh. And I told my best friend earlier today tearfully in the steak and shake drive-through.
[00:46:59:01 - 00:47:02:12]
I'm just trying to paint the picture. For a lot of emotional,
[00:47:03:17 - 00:48:31:12]
Yes. I told her tearfully that I think we have to cancel. I think we have to cancel my birthday party. My actual birthday is once again, the same as Beyonce, it's September 4th. So it's not on Friday, it's next week. But all my homies like got together to do this ghost hunt thing on Friday. But I'm so upset, I'm genuinely so upset about Dolly that I'm just like, I don't know if my heart is really in this anymore. I get it. You know. You don't wanna waste a trip to the sanitary. (Laughing) If you're not in the mood. Apparently it's like the last ghost hunt of the season too. So it's, Oh really? Yeah, which I think is weird, like right ahead of Halloween. That would be their busy time here. But maybe it makes it like scarier. So they're like, we have to close down when it's cold and dark and stuff. I don't know. The sense of urgency. Yeah, but I-- Don't take the tour before we shut down. Yeah, so I'm trying to figure out, I'm like, should I try to rally? Like my bestie was like, girl, it's gonna be okay. We are excited to celebrate you and all these things. I'm like, but I'm not though. And I don't wanna drag everybody to Kentucky if I'm still blubbering about Dolly Parton. And like also part of the concept was we were gonna film a vlog and put it on YouTube. And we were all supposed to dress up as pop stars. And I just, That's right. I don't have it in me right now to like source a costume. I was gonna be Ginger Spice.
[00:48:32:19 - 00:49:07:01]
And I know that in some way, Dolly would probably want a bunch of girls to dress slutty and go do something silly. Yeah, she wants you to do it. Yeah. Maybe you need to power through. You're not gonna get her honor. I'm like, maybe we could all dress like Dolly. Instead of like different pop stars, we could all be Dolly. Yeah, just choose different eras and stuff. Yeah, I don't know. I haven't decided. I guess next week you'll find out what it might be. What's the go no go day? Like, can you decide like a day or two before and still pull out of the whole thing? I mean, I guess a day or two before is right now.
[00:49:08:05 - 00:49:37:08]
So I'm like, I literally don't know. And it makes me feel bad. Like, cause I know that like some tickets have already been bought and stuff, but if I'm just like, and then is it weird, like when we're in this threes situation to like, I know I was saying last week, like I take ghost hunts like serious. I'm not going in there to try to be disrespectful, but it's like when we're all reeling emotionally. That's why you need us. That's not true, I said you could-- Take this wheel, let's be disrespectful to ghosts.
[00:49:38:24 - 00:49:41:03]
What if the ghost of Dolly's there?
[00:49:42:18 - 00:49:55:27]
I mean, what would she be doing in there? Could she cross state lines? She would be-- Can ghosts cross state lines? I assume they can, I hear there's like portals and that. They can follow through walls. But they stop at borders out of map.
[00:49:57:15 - 00:50:57:14]
I mean, she could do, she would be there lifting people up. She would. Is what she would be doing. Yeah. But I think you should go. Go through this, push through this. I think you'd be sad if you don't do it. And I think you can power through it and you'll feel good that you did do it. What would she want? She would want you to do it. She would want you to have fun. Yeah. Yeah. That sound like your, we'll see if I can rally and have fun. I don't know, I'll tell you next week. Maybe. Which is like probably where your son, Wolfie, says, maybe means no. Yeah, right. Well, honestly, I tend to overthink everything. You guys know this about me. Hadn't noticed it, we all do. Yeah, and I saw a clip of Dolly where she was asked about happiness and she was like, well, you know, I'm not happy all the time. Who'd wanna be around somebody that's always happy? And sound like, well, maybe it's okay that I'm bummed. Yeah.
[00:50:58:25 - 00:51:11:17]
Acknowledge the feeling. Live in the moment. Yeah. But then like give yourself a cutoff time. Like, I'm gonna be sad, but like by Saturday, Yeah.
[00:51:12:22 - 00:51:33:21]
Time to have another feeling. Flip the switch, yeah. I'm gonna try to turn the pain into purpose. Oh, there you go. I think it's just so soon after, like the emotional impact of the thing, that I'm like, damn. That's what Dolly would want. Yeah. What do you want for your birthday? Is there a gift that you've told people that you want?
[00:51:35:05 - 00:52:45:25]
Yes. What is it? Well, okay, so you guys heard me complain loudly about this bat-shaped Betsy Johnson bag. Yeah, the one you can't find. I want that shit so bad. But aside from that, there's this Tim Burton documentary. It's called "Life in the Line," and it only exists on the internet. And I was actually lamenting that "Limewire" doesn't exist anymore. Because while-- Mm-hmm, that's a little bad. Flashback. Yeah, right? Because while I want to compensate artists for their work, it's also very expensive. The documentary is $75. Wow. Yeah, and it's the only authorized Tim Burton documentary ever made. And it's got 10 hours of whatever. So it's really well done. And I want to do this-- Is it not him apologizing for the Willy Wonka movie? Willy Wonka one? I don't know, TBD. I'll let you know if I ever see it. But that is something I refuse to buy for myself. It's just like, I cannot justify-- So that would be the perfect gift. $75. Yeah. Yeah. But he's a fellow Virgo, like myself. Go ahead and get your Venmo. I love his art. Yeah. (Laughing)
[00:52:47:05 - 00:52:58:19]
You know what's dumb about my Venmo? I will tell you what my Venmo is, just for purposes of the story. My Venmo handle is at Savannah-Grim-2.
[00:52:59:21 - 00:53:57:08]
I don't know why the two is there. Who the fuck got one? It's not me. Oh, so you just put in your regular name and it says, sorry, that's already taken. Yeah, and even one was unavailable. Everybody has their doppelganger, an alternate universe Savannah Grim. Yeah, right. It's just slightly different for you in the other universe. Exactly. So I wonder, you know what? Maybe this is something I should do this week. That one likes chocolate. Ew. (Laughing) I forgot that you hate chocolate. Oh my God, where was I a couple of days ago? Oh, I was at Trader Joe's. I was buying myself some fresh flowers and at the checkout line, the lady was like, oh, you picked out such pretty flowers and what are these for? I was like, girl, I'm just trying to like, you know, put a little pep in my own step. And she was like, well, how about some nice chocolate too? And I was like, girl, I hate chocolate. You don't know me. She was like, what? Like she seemed like genuinely so shook. And I was just like, I don't really know what to say.
[00:53:58:12 - 00:54:03:11]
I just don't like that shit. Everybody likes chocolate. A goose to sis them for later.
[00:54:04:18 - 00:54:30:10]
As we go back to Willy Wonka. Yes, but you know, they do have a pumpkin flavor things at Starbucks now and that I did have some pumpkin loaf. Okay. See, that's me, I hate pumpkin. Oh. I won't eat pumpkin. What's wrong with you? I don't like pumpkin spice latte. I don't like pumpkin. Do you like the pumpkin candle smell? I do, God, it's so good. Yeah, because I don't have to eat it. Yeah, okay. But you can if you want to. I could, I could eat candles.
[00:54:31:11 - 00:54:41:05]
I could eat crayons if I want. Pumpkin texture is creepy. My poops of many colors. Yeah. The whole big pumpkin industry
[00:54:42:11 - 00:55:51:05]
has done an amazing rebrand. True. Of pumpkin. Yeah. Because like the pumpkin itself inside is one of the most disgusting things. It is, it is truly gross. It's horrifying. Yeah, smells bad. It looks disgusting. It's gross, yeah. And like somehow we've turned it into, you know, an obsession. Yeah. But we just can't see it or have it in that form. You know, the basic bitch, like complex, just like as an entity that I think exists is like one hell of a rebrander. It's like, if you can get basic bitches on your side, anything can like have a glow up. And I feel like that happened to pumpkins. Also, this is another death that I have to bring up. All of a sudden I've been triggered into the memory. I'm so sorry. But my best friend's cat named Pumpkin was like hit by a car this week. Oh no. That's awful. That was so sad. And like the little, the kids, like her kids like wrote goodbye letters to Pumpkin and they're like tear stained.
[00:55:53:05 - 00:57:50:16]
Well, since we're telling dead animal stories. I'm so sad. Before you do that, can I just, cause this is gonna dovetail perfectly. Okay, okay. There was a cat that my daughter was feeding a neighborhood cat. Like it was an outdoor cat, just give it food. And because it had the color of pancake batter, she called that cat pancake. Yeah. Pancake was run over by a car. He became a pancake. And became a pancake. Okay. So terrible. So tell us about your dead animal story. Well, my son Alex, he loved gerbils and he had a little aquarium in his room with the little habit trails and the feeding bottle and all that stuff. And he had two gerbils named Batman and Robin. Oh. And sadly, Batman died because my son neglected to ever feed them or clean out their cage. And so apparently this is what gerbils or other rodents do is that when one of them dies, the other one eats their head to obviously say, well, I have to resort to cannibalism to survive. Right. Since it's absorbed his thoughts, since this eight year old kid is not feeding him. (Laughing) I'm gonna eat brains. He turned him into a zombie. So we decided, all right, we're having a funeral for Batman. Yeah. So we got like a cigar box, wrapped it up in like aluminum foil and made sure it's airtight so some other animal wouldn't dig it up. And we had just moved into a new house. So we're digging a hole in the back and we put it in there and all of a sudden it starts raining. And so we were like, it was like it's Tim Burton to me. We're all out there wearing dark clothes in the rain with umbrellas. And my son, Alex is doing a eulogy. Oh. And he's there. In the rain. In the rain going like, so sorry that Robin ate your head.
[00:57:51:28 - 00:57:56:18]
Very Tim Burton film. My son, Jeff, we're like desperately trying to let the life.
[00:57:58:03 - 00:58:46:21]
(Laughing) Wow. To this day, I bet that Gerbil Batman is still buried safely like fourth down in my backyard. That's really sweet. Yeah. Did I ever tell you about my Gerbil Hubie? No. Well, once upon a dream, I begged my dad for a fucking Gerbil. What did he do? He got me one. That was when Hickory Hollow Mall was popping and they had a pet store on the second floor. Oh, Hickory Hollow Mall, right? It was so fun. That was a fun place. Yeah, so my dad took me to the pet store at Hickory Hollow Mall. He picked out a Gerbil with me. We go home and I don't know what possessed Hubie to do this but Hubie ended up eating his own fucking leg off. Oh my God. So talk about cannibalism. He started eating himself. Wow. And my dad. He yelled, "Eat me!" to himself. What's eating over grape?
[00:58:47:24 - 00:59:13:11]
He is. Dude, my dad put that little fucker back in the box and we went back to the pet store. Yes. And my daddy put the little box in front of the cashier and was like, "Something is fucking wrong with this Gerbil." You just told me a cannibalist. (Laughing) This Gerbil's defective. I think he actually did say that. He did say, he did use the word defective.
[00:59:14:13 - 00:59:16:16]
So I don't know, are Gerbils okay?
[00:59:17:26 - 00:59:47:23]
Are they okay? I don't know. Gerbil's how you do it. Obviously going through some stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I remember we, he had another, his original Gerbil's named Astro because he was on the Astros in his Little League team. So, and then Astro died. And so, but we only had Astro for like 24 hours and it died. It's like, it was about to die. It was suicidal as soon as we brought it back from PetSmart. Okay. And so I had to take it back. And so we got another one that he called Astro 2.
[00:59:49:06 - 01:03:03:13]
And I don't remember what happened to him, but I believe it also had a grisly demise. Well, so I guess the answer to the question is, Gerbils are not okay. They're not. What are the reasons they're not okay? That's why there's a lot of them. Do you think that? Gerbils are kind of like mice with a better PR department. Yeah, but maybe not considering all of these stories. But like, do you think that like we're the villains in their story and like there's like folklore amongst the Gerbils that like, we're these evil monster creatures who pluck them from their families, put them in these creepy colorful Hunger Games style cages until they eat themselves. Do you know what I mean? Like, could it be that they can communicate in such a way that like we are the monsters? Oh yeah. In the next season of Black Mirror, this is gonna be giant Gerbils who go to a store and bring humans home. Yo. And put them in a little habit. I mean, I imagine that that would be like what it would be like to be abducted by aliens. Yeah, looks like Junior is gonna be good for a little bit. They're gonna take care of you and they're gonna love on you and they're gonna make your cage feel really nice and you are gonna feel appreciated. And then they'll get distracted and never feed you again. And they'll never clean out your little shavings or anything, but you know what? And then it's the saw bathroom inside the sanitrarium. When do you think of it? The original Gerbils do it with the back saw. (Laughing) But you know what's fucked up though? To play a game. It's because it really is like that. Like if you extend some empathy to the Gerbils, like, okay, listen. Yesterday I was thinking about this because I was at Sadie's like around Music Row. Pouring one out for a girl dolly and they had like a little bottle, like a decanter full of water and a couple of flies like flew down into it. And my friend was disgusted by this and she closed the top on it and I was like, why did you close it? And she was like, because they're disgusting. And I was like, yeah, but they're gonna die if you leave them in there, like you need to open it and let the flies out. Yeah, let them leave. Instead of guaranteeing they're in there. Scratching it's a glass of-- And they started to like fall in the water. They started to fall in the water and then they like started to like fly a little bit and then they'd fall back down. And she got, I think, kind of annoyed with me for being like, no, but for real, like you need to let the flies out. And so I just think-- For them it's a horror movie. That's what I'm saying. Like if you have empathy for other living things, like even with Gerbils, it's like, we think their little cages are so fun, but it's like prison dog. They have a little space they can run on a wheel and a little like fucking water bottle and they can never leave. Like I get cabin fever just being in my apartment. I can't imagine if that was like my life. There's people who believe that we're in a simulation that we're just like some computer program running somewhere like that's our version of it. Yeah. We're running on the hamster wheel of life. And we think, you know, that we're doing stuff and we have this incredible agency, but that actually we're just like some super beings
[01:03:04:15 - 01:03:16:02]
distraction. This has been such an uplifting show. (Laughing) And we hope that the aliens don't forget to put air holes in the top of our jar. (Laughing)
[01:03:17:04 - 01:03:17:19]
Wow.
[01:03:18:24 - 01:03:55:20]
Well, also can I bring up a Tennessee specific thing? Yes, please. Still sort of dark. Do you remember the Kami manor? Like the haunted house that's in Tennessee that like the dude made people sign like waivers. Oh, it's just the heart house where they actually were actually in danger. Yeah, you had to sign like a 40 page waiver that was like, you could die. We're allowed to like hit you and beat you and like all these things. He was like, if you can get through it. Wide on the internet. Yeah, he was like, if you can make it through and it's like a 24 hour haunted house, like it's like a long ass thing that he would give you like $20,000.
[01:03:56:26 - 01:05:49:13]
And the only payment to even do it was like you have to bring a bag of dog food. Do you remember that? I do remember it. Cause yeah, the last time I-- I don't remember the dog food part, but yeah. I heard about it. It was, I think you bringing it up on the show. Yeah, I do remember bringing it up on the show one time. Cause I was like, how the fuck is this legal? Like, how is this happening? Yeah, somebody had, has to have a good lawyer to create that waiver. Oh yeah, some of you signed, yeah. Well, so me and Wolfie started watching like a little documentary on YouTube by a guy named Reckless Ben. And he was like, I am gonna infiltrate McKinney Manor. I have seen Reckless Ben. Yeah, and so he like-- My daughters made me see Reckless Ben. I'd never seen him until this documentary specifically. Cause I saw the title about McKinney Manor and it's just plagued my mind for years and years, as you know, that I'm just like, how the fuck are they allowed to do this? He was taking the challenge. Yeah, so he was like, I'm gonna infiltrate it and figure out what the fuck is going on here. And so he flew out here from California and he was so smart when he like was sent the waiver, he edited that bitch before he sent it back. And the dude, I guess had never even thought to reread it. Did you check it? No, and so like part of the waiver was saying like, you know, if you, like something about being liable to the tune of like $50,000 or something, like if you talk bad about the haunted house after your experience or whatever, and he changed it to like $1. So he was like, after I go here, if it sucks and I sing like a canary, he'll find out. He signed something that said, I only have to give him $1 and here I have it. Wow. Yeah, but he like, he, I think the thing is a sham and I haven't finished like the full series of videos yet, but basically I think it's just this guy who like likes to hurt people.
[01:05:50:21 - 01:06:24:02]
Mm. And when you see like- Is his dark fetish? Yeah, like there is no manner is the big spoiler is like he has a house here, but there's no haunted house. And he basically just like blindfolds you and kicks your ass. And then when you give up, you never get to the manner part because it's not real. So he makes sure to kick your ass enough that he never has to account for the fact that it's all fake. And even the idea- Wow, yeah. Ben blew this case wide open. And I was just like, well.
[01:06:25:19 - 01:09:24:14]
I thought maybe the dog food was that, you know, the dogs were tired of eating customers. So we thought we'd get him some, you know, kibbles and bits. One would assume he just like waterboards people. I've seen the videos, they're awful. Yeah. Scary. He even said he had like rats or mice or something. He doesn't, but the dog food, he just like puts in a barrel that he makes you wear on your back while you're blindfolded. And he just like shouts at you and like makes you do exercises. You have to wear dog food, a bag of dog food? Yeah, like the heaviest bag of dog food possible. And then like, if you want to quit, which he wants you to want to quit, you have to like beg him. And so I'm like, ew, I think he's just like a creepy. Yeah. Right? And he's also making money from the views. Exactly. But again, I ask, how is this legal? He also like lived in Florida at one point and then he came to like Tennessee and like was doing it here. And so I'm just like, how is this not, how are they getting away with this? Our laws are pretty lax. Yeah. You can get away with a lot in Tennessee. Even compared to Florida. Yeah. It's disturbing, but I don't know, just with spooky season approaching, I'm like, please nobody go there. That's messed up. Isn't it? I think if they're watching us, Is that a filter? Like you're automatically, you're not gonna go to this guy. Yeah. I think a lot of people like to talk about it, but I'd be surprised if he has too many people actually go through with it. Yeah. Are the people going through with it? Are they plants? Are they staged? Are they actors? Well, that's a good question because Reckless Ben talked about the fact that, you know, the lore is there's like thousands of people on a wait list to even be chosen to try the haunted house challenge. And he's like, but I applied and within 24 hours, I was accepted. And then he started planting his friends when the owner of the manor was onto him and like realized what he was doing. So he planted his friends and his friends were also like automatically accepted, but like there were no internet ties that Homeboy would have known that connection there. So it's like, is there actually a wait list or is this guy just fucking weird? And he just is looking for anyone. Anybody that comes along, I will beat them. Comes to my house, I'm just an asshole. I would like to poke you with sticks. Right, it's like, I wonder what his childhood was like. I immediately start like psychoanalyzing the situation. I'm like, why do you wanna hurt people? I don't know. Ed Gein had a, he could start somewhere. Oh God. He's as despicable as this guy is. He's kind of a genius in a way. Yeah, he is. He's evaded a lot of accountability. Like that's part of what's covered in this documentary. It's all smoke and mirrors. When people start to like try and get to him, he like doxes them and ruins their lives until they back away. And then he's able to like keep the charade going. Sounds exhausting. Doesn't it? Yeah.
[01:09:26:12 - 01:09:58:08]
He like makes people show up in like Tigger onesies. And then he like. Tigger onesies? Basically puts you through blindfolded bootcamp in his front yard and waterboards you. Like waterboarding is like illegal internationally. Do you know what I mean? So how would you do just doing it in Tennessee and nobody's going over there to be like, hey, don't do that. You like can't waterboard people. Now, if you die from being waterboarded in a Tigger onesie and you do go see Jesus in heaven. And Dolly. So what happened to you?
[01:09:59:24 - 01:10:09:19]
Interesting story. You show up dead and all wet in a Tigger onesie with dog food strapped to your back. Like, are you really gonna make me talk about it? (Laughing)
[01:10:11:12 - 01:10:42:27]
It's a harrowing visual, truly. But this man does allege that a woman did die like in a waterboarding portion. And I'm just like, surely he's just. Receipts. He's just lying. Just making up lore to give himself more horror farming. Yeah, anyways, thanks for letting me get that out. Cause I've been thinking about it probably for 15 years. Horrifying and interesting. Yeah. Wow. What's the dumbest haunted house you've ever been to?
[01:10:44:22 - 01:11:49:06]
(Laughing) This is okay. Now you just triggered a memory because in my elementary school, Okay. They had like a, I don't even know what you would call. I forgot what they called it. But it was like one day where they had nothing but games and it was a fundraiser. Like a fall festival. Yeah, it was like a fall festival. And they had, it was a really old building. So it had a cloak room, a coat room, right? And nobody ever used it except for one time a year during that fall festival, they would have the creepy cave. So the school went up to eighth grade and the eighth graders would be in charge of running the creepy cave. So they set it up like a haunted house, but it's like poor man's haunted house. And they literally just beat you. Now that you say it, like it was, you're gonna go in there and you're gonna get spanked and whacked in the head, in the dark, all these terrible things. Not all of these children that they're beating.
[01:11:50:24 - 01:12:16:05]
K through seven. Wow. And I'm assuming it's other children doing the beating. Yeah, eighth graders, eighth graders. Kids beating kids. It wasn't the vice principal. (Laughing) I guess way back then did they just see that as like character building? Yes. It was just assumed at some point kids were gonna get their ass kicked. Yeah, it's just gonna, it's gonna tough them up. Wow. All right. You're gonna be in eighth grade someday, you're gonna be on the given end.
[01:12:17:07 - 01:12:21:20]
Just you wait, it'll be all right. It was worth it. We were working in Albany, New York. Yeah.
[01:12:22:24 - 01:12:42:13]
We were doing a promotion with a haunted hayride. And they said, hey Woody, would you like to, we'll give you money to come out here and do a paid remote broadcast. You'll do a remote from the hay wagon. And it's scary and all kinds of stuff like that. And I said, oh sure, that sounds great. What time would it be? And because we had to do it about noon.
[01:12:43:14 - 01:13:02:17]
And then realizing. How? Noon. So how are you gonna be scared on a wagon where you say, hey look, there's Freddy Krueger about 50 yards up there behind that tree. Yeah. And then they went, oh, maybe we should wait till it's dark. (Laughing) You're like, okay, that instilling a lot of confidence.
[01:13:03:27 - 01:13:30:10]
(Laughing) I suppose if you're creative enough, you could make daylight scary. I mean, they could do like a Jason thing, you know, like just some creep hiding behind a tree sort of like ominously. Right, they didn't take it to that party. In the three to four minutes as he's trotting towards you. Maybe it builds suspense and terror. That's a little Bill menacing. He stopped to catch his breath. He still goes over.
[01:13:32:13 - 01:13:36:05]
I'll be right there. Jason's in the corner, he's in the halo.
[01:13:37:10 - 01:13:41:27]
(Laughing) I'll be with you in a minute. Be with you in a minute. Stop.
[01:13:42:28 - 01:14:30:29]
Damn. Now, since we've left broadcast radio, I've been tuning into a lot of different radio stations. Really? None of which I've worked at. Okay. And I noticed I was listening out in the garage. I have the radio on, usually for the dogs and stuff like that. For sure. I've been listening to Jack FM occasionally. I like what they do. Okay. But I noticed that they were doing a public service like a community calendar type thing. I heard them do this on the air and they talked about things going on around town and they're calling them Jacktivities. Oh. And I'm thinking, that sounds a little masturbatey. I mean, so does Joe. That's true Joe. Yeah. Yeah. Can you say kettle? Stop, what are you doing in the bathroom for so long? Just enjoy some Jacktivities, Dan.
[01:14:32:17 - 01:14:36:06]
By the way, I need more tube socks. Oh my God. Okay.
[01:14:37:22 - 01:14:49:10]
Is that the second- My mind moments. Did you mention Kids in Tube Socks the last podcast? Did I? I think you did mention trusty socks. Yeah. Yeah, well, it's my go-to. (Laughing)
[01:14:51:21 - 01:14:53:18]
That's really sweet, Steve. That's right.
[01:14:55:08 - 01:15:08:29]
I'm at the age now where I tell the same jokes over. (Laughing) Those of you that had 66 minutes into the podcast of when Woody was gonna mention a crusty- Crusty- Tube sock joke. You are the winners.
[01:15:10:03 - 01:15:11:25]
(Clapping) And aren't we all?
[01:15:15:02 - 01:15:19:21]
Well, I feel like the podcast has come to a close. Yeah.
[01:15:21:16 - 01:15:44:22]
I appreciate the feedback people- We get a lot of good feedback. People are saying they're loving what we do, and there may be an opportunity very soon where we might actually do the podcast in front of a live audience. That would be a blast. That would be so fun. There's a couple of sports bars, kind of like little restaurants that are talking about maybe having us come in. They have a stage area, and then we could, you know, you can come and yell at us.
[01:15:45:27 - 01:16:02:17]
Hopefully, like, with excitement and happiness. It is like a, "You're never better." We'll be there in Tigger Onesies with dog food strapped to our bag, and you're welcome to come water for me. That's how we change the joke off. Whoever laughs first gets water for us.
[01:16:03:28 - 01:16:09:22]
That's how we'll do it. All right, let me switch over to Halloween. Tigger outfit. Hey, Tigger J- Onesie.
[01:16:11:01 - 01:16:12:13]
(Laughing)
[01:16:13:22 - 01:16:14:14]
Oh, shit.
[01:16:15:29 - 01:16:20:22]
Love you guys. Love you. Talk to you. Yeah, it's your birthday next time. What?
[01:16:22:20 - 01:16:24:24]
