<v Speaker 1>Time to close out this week with another SmackDown review.

<v Speaker 1>SmackDown not live tonight. SmackDown was in Ottawa, as Raw

<v Speaker 1>was this past Monday. SmackDown was taped on Monday. If

<v Speaker 1>you remember Monday, not exactly the liveliest bunch. And that

<v Speaker 1>was for the live show. So when I saw that,

<v Speaker 1>I said, oh boy, they're taping another show after this one.

<v Speaker 1>That's not going to be good. And it wasn't. Ottawa

<v Speaker 1>was not overly enthusiastic about what they were seeing on

<v Speaker 1>this particular night. But the thing with these tape shows

<v Speaker 1>is they're not exciting. And unfortunately, we have a whole

<v Speaker 1>bunch of them coming up between now and the end

<v Speaker 1>of next week. But that's what they wanted to do

<v Speaker 1>because they wanted to give the talent some time off.

<v Speaker 1>They're heading into the big Mexican tour next month. And

<v Speaker 1>so we had a tape smackdown. We have a tape raw.

<v Speaker 1>And we have another tape smackdown all coming up over

<v Speaker 1>the next seven days. For tonight... As I mentioned, they

<v Speaker 1>were in Ottawa. Kevin Owens was in Toronto last week,

<v Speaker 1>had the opportunity to become WWE champion and did not.

<v Speaker 1>So we got to hear from him tonight. And in fact,

<v Speaker 1>not only did we hear from him, but he was

<v Speaker 1>in the main event of this show. We had a

<v Speaker 1>triple threat match at the end of the show to

<v Speaker 1>decide on a number one contender for the WWE championship.

<v Speaker 1>which was once again a main event, once again, back-to-back nights,

<v Speaker 1>or not nights, but back-to-back weeks, ruined by Sami Zayn.

<v Speaker 1>Had to involve himself in the title match last week,

<v Speaker 1>and then had to involve himself here in this match tonight.

<v Speaker 1>So that was the story of the end of SmackDown.

<v Speaker 1>Sami Zayn once again the last man standing. That's two

<v Speaker 1>weeks in a row. Where this is leading next, who knows?

<v Speaker 1>Are we going to get some sort of multi-man match?

<v Speaker 1>Are we going to get... Because you would think, you know,

<v Speaker 1>Nick Aldis is not just going to go in there

<v Speaker 1>and reward Sami Zayn for ruining all these main events.

<v Speaker 1>You would think that this man would take decisive action

<v Speaker 1>in some way. But that's not always how the general

<v Speaker 1>managers work. So I don't know what we're headed towards

<v Speaker 1>as far as a potential multi-person match or who Punk

<v Speaker 1>is going to be defending his title against next. Maybe

<v Speaker 1>it'll be against everybody. Maybe we'll have one big five

<v Speaker 1>or six-pack challenge. Who knows? All I can tell you

<v Speaker 1>is that this show, it had its moments. There were

<v Speaker 1>some things I liked. We'll get into what that was.

<v Speaker 1>But for the most part, it was just a very

<v Speaker 1>dull show. It was a very dull two hours. It

<v Speaker 1>was mostly a women's show in the ring because the

<v Speaker 1>main event was the only men's match that we had

<v Speaker 1>all night. All three other matches, I believe it was three,

<v Speaker 1>all three other matches that we had on the show,

<v Speaker 1>all women's matches. And none of them were particularly memorable.

<v Speaker 1>What really carried this show was some of the promo stuff,

<v Speaker 1>in particular the Cody Rhodes and the Randy Orton stuff.

<v Speaker 1>And even that, it wasn't anything great. But, I mean,

<v Speaker 1>I enjoyed what they did. They tried to put a

<v Speaker 1>little more heat on their upcoming match on Sunday night's

<v Speaker 1>main event. They have the no-touch rule is in place

<v Speaker 1>so they can't beat each other up. They can get

<v Speaker 1>up right in each other's face and they can hurl

<v Speaker 1>all the insults they want, but they couldn't touch each other. Because, remember,

<v Speaker 1>the stipulation is that if Cody touches Randy or if

<v Speaker 1>Randy touches Cody, Whoever it is will never again be

<v Speaker 1>able to challenge for the championship. That way you keep

<v Speaker 1>them on their best behavior. But we did get a

<v Speaker 1>face-to-face confrontation between them in the ring tonight. Tatum Paxley

<v Speaker 1>made her in-ring SmackDown debut as well. And we have

<v Speaker 1>a new match announced for Sunday night's main event, which

<v Speaker 1>is not this coming weekend, but the following Sunday in Atlanta.

<v Speaker 1>Another women's match. No titles on the line in this one.

<v Speaker 1>We'll talk about what that is. Here in your not

<v Speaker 1>very exciting episode of Smackdown Review. We'll try to make

<v Speaker 1>this a little bit more entertaining than Smackdown was. It

<v Speaker 1>is Friday night, August 28th, 2026. I am the Solid Monster.

<v Speaker 1>such a dead period right now, ever since SummerSlam. Actually,

<v Speaker 1>the good thing is that we have All In this weekend,

<v Speaker 1>which at least is a big show. I am looking

<v Speaker 1>forward to some of the matches on that card. Even

<v Speaker 1>the build for All In this year, not what it

<v Speaker 1>has been in recent years. That's the big event coming

<v Speaker 1>up this Sunday. There's actually two WWE shows coming up

<v Speaker 1>on Sunday as well. One is a AAA show, the

<v Speaker 1>other one is an NXT show. That's going to be

<v Speaker 1>in Edinburgh, Texas. They're running the same venue back-to-back starting

<v Speaker 1>at noon Eastern on Sunday. And of course, all-in is

<v Speaker 1>1 p.m. start for the main card. So there'll be

<v Speaker 1>a lot going on this weekend. There'll probably be an

<v Speaker 1>early sound-off. The sound-off may go up later in the

<v Speaker 1>day tomorrow because of all-in. So just be aware of

<v Speaker 1>that change. But still, the end of the summer, end

<v Speaker 1>of August, we're not quite to Labor Day yet. I

<v Speaker 1>don't know. Everything just feels so fucking dead. It's depressing.

<v Speaker 1>You know, I'm waiting for stuff to really get going here.

<v Speaker 1>We have this big Mexico City show coming up in

<v Speaker 1>the middle of September. So hopefully that'll breathe some new

<v Speaker 1>life into things. But I don't know, man. It's just

<v Speaker 1>one of those dead times here at the end. The

<v Speaker 1>summer's ending, which is also kind of depressing. So it

<v Speaker 1>is what it is. We'll hang out together and talk

<v Speaker 1>about it all. 600 likes. It's a very lofty goal

<v Speaker 1>for Be the Booker tonight, I would say, given that

<v Speaker 1>we are 174. I don't think that's in the cards tonight,

<v Speaker 1>but hey, stranger things have happened. Start from the top

<v Speaker 1>of this show. Kevin Owens was out. Kevin Owens ended

<v Speaker 1>the show the previous week. Kevin Owens opened the show

<v Speaker 1>this week. And he was not very happy. Now, he

<v Speaker 1>came out not very far from where he grew up in... Maryville, Quebec.

<v Speaker 1>He said this wasn't the way that he was hoping

<v Speaker 1>to come back to Ottawa. He said that in the

<v Speaker 1>last 12 years, he has lost many WWE championship matches. Boy,

<v Speaker 1>he's not kidding when he says that. Over the last, whatever,

<v Speaker 1>12 years, 11 years, whatever it's been, I want to

<v Speaker 1>say his record is 0 for 13. I could be

<v Speaker 1>off by 1 or 2, give or take. But it's

<v Speaker 1>somewhere in that range. And... He just cannot figure things out,

<v Speaker 1>whether it's Roman Reigns or Cody Rhodes or CM Punk.

<v Speaker 1>He cannot win the big one when it comes to

<v Speaker 1>the WWE title. And last week was no exception. None

<v Speaker 1>of them, though, none of those losses hurt quite as

<v Speaker 1>much as the one last week in Toronto. Said, you know,

<v Speaker 1>he fought so hard to come back from an injury

<v Speaker 1>that he wasn't even sure he'd be able to come

<v Speaker 1>back from. And once he was able to get back,

<v Speaker 1>it took him nine days, a process that normally would

<v Speaker 1>take weeks, if not months. And he was able to

<v Speaker 1>get cleared in just nine days, just so he could

<v Speaker 1>be at SummerSlam. But he picked Toronto because he wanted

<v Speaker 1>his parents to see him win. And he reminded us

<v Speaker 1>of the story that he had shared a couple of

<v Speaker 1>years ago, which is his mother had landed in the hospital.

<v Speaker 1>I had forgotten all about this, but A couple years ago,

<v Speaker 1>his mom ended up in the hospital. I'm not sure

<v Speaker 1>what the issue... I'm not even sure if he ever

<v Speaker 1>publicly revealed exactly what the issue was. Or he may have,

<v Speaker 1>but I just don't recall. But it was a very

<v Speaker 1>serious life-or-death situation. And as he said here, thankfully, his

<v Speaker 1>mom was able to kick out. But since then, it's

<v Speaker 1>been very difficult for her to travel. And coming to

<v Speaker 1>the events to watch him wrestle has been damn near impossible.

<v Speaker 1>But his parents did the impossible, and they made the

<v Speaker 1>drive last week to Toronto because they were coming to

<v Speaker 1>see their son win. And unfortunately, Sami Zayn prevented that

<v Speaker 1>from happening. Owens admitted that he had done many bad

<v Speaker 1>things to Sami over the years, but what Sami did

<v Speaker 1>to him last week was unforgivable because it robbed him

<v Speaker 1>of a perfect scenario. The stars were all aligned last week.

<v Speaker 1>He was going to win the WWE Championship. He was

<v Speaker 1>going to do so in front of his Canadian fans.

<v Speaker 1>He was going to do so in front of his parents,

<v Speaker 1>and he was going to beat CM Punk to do it.

<v Speaker 1>There'll never be a more perfect scenario than the one

<v Speaker 1>that he had last week. Owen said that he was

<v Speaker 1>going to deal with Sami in short order, but he

<v Speaker 1>said that he had CM Punk beat. And if Punk

<v Speaker 1>thinks that they're done, he's dead wrong. We're only just

<v Speaker 1>getting started. Punk interrupted. He didn't need any music. We

<v Speaker 1>just heard him talking. He comes out, he's threatening to

<v Speaker 1>send Owens packing from Ottawa as if his last name was,

<v Speaker 1>now was it Kachuk? Because I'm on such a great

<v Speaker 1>roll here pronouncing some of these names. I think it

<v Speaker 1>was Kachuk, which I have no idea who this person is.

<v Speaker 1>I am assuming that he plays, he's a hockey player

<v Speaker 1>and plays in the NHL because I know Punk is

<v Speaker 1>a big NHL fan. So I'm assuming that's what he

<v Speaker 1>was referring to. Nick Aldis had also come out with Punk.

<v Speaker 1>And he was trying to hold him back. Punk's on

<v Speaker 1>the outside being held back. Owens is in the ring

<v Speaker 1>trying to get out of the ring and he's being

<v Speaker 1>held back. So then we hear Gunther's music. And he

<v Speaker 1>comes out. out and he said he wasn't concerned about

<v Speaker 1>their nonsense from 20 years ago. He told Owens he

<v Speaker 1>was happy his mom kicked out. It's just too bad

<v Speaker 1>that last week Owens didn't. Look at this guy. Gunther's

<v Speaker 1>got the jokes here. So now we hear Finn Balor's music.

<v Speaker 1>Out comes Balor. jason says unforgivable but trying to cripple

<v Speaker 1>his best friend multiple times over the years was jason

<v Speaker 1>don't ask me the man's a hypocrite i i don't

<v Speaker 1>know what else to say here comes finn balor and

<v Speaker 1>gunther says hey look it's the ghost of finn balor

<v Speaker 1>balor then called gunther a prick Nick Aldis, at the

<v Speaker 1>end of all of this, at the end of all this,

<v Speaker 1>he booked Gunther, Owens, and Balor in the main event

<v Speaker 1>in a triple threat match. The winner of that triple

<v Speaker 1>threat match would become number one contender for the WWE Championship.

<v Speaker 1>And you knew right away, since he's not involved, this

<v Speaker 1>is not going to make Sami Zayn very happy. Gee,

<v Speaker 1>I wonder how this main event is going to end.

<v Speaker 1>It's a pretty basic... opening segment i i like you

<v Speaker 1>know some of what owens had to say uh he

<v Speaker 1>got a little personal there but it was all you

<v Speaker 1>know just to set up the inevitable screw job in

<v Speaker 1>the main event very appropriate given that they were in

<v Speaker 1>canada two weeks in a row we've had two screw

<v Speaker 1>jobs some things never change we go backstage chelsea green

<v Speaker 1>is there she's having a conversation with tiffany stratton and

<v Speaker 1>chelsea was holding a bedazzled face mask it's back She

<v Speaker 1>asked Chelsea if she was sure she wanted to be

<v Speaker 1>out there because they were set to wrestle a tag

<v Speaker 1>team match tonight. So evidently Chelsea has been cleared to wrestle.

<v Speaker 1>And Tiffany was like, are you sure you want to

<v Speaker 1>do this? You've got less than 30 days left to

<v Speaker 1>defend your championship. Are you sure you're going to be okay?

<v Speaker 1>And Chelsea insisted that she was good to go. which

<v Speaker 1>led us into the tag team match. It was the

<v Speaker 1>WWE Women's Champion, Chelsea Green, back in the ring, teaming

<v Speaker 1>with the now former United States Champion, Tiffany Stratton, to

<v Speaker 1>take on the Irresistible Forces, Nia Jax and Lash Legend.

<v Speaker 1>Nia delivered a headbutt early on to Chelsea's face, and

<v Speaker 1>she scrambled over to her corner to make a tag.

<v Speaker 1>And then later, Nia kneed her in the face. And

<v Speaker 1>so Chelsea rolls out to the floor, the trainers and

<v Speaker 1>the doctor come over to check on her. Tiffany, meanwhile,

<v Speaker 1>is all by herself in the ring. And she is

<v Speaker 1>being isolated by the heels for, I would say, a

<v Speaker 1>good period of time here. When it looked like Chelsea

<v Speaker 1>was on her way to the back, because after a

<v Speaker 1>while they started to carry her. You know, she had

<v Speaker 1>her arms over them and she was on her way

<v Speaker 1>to the back. Tiffany was reaching for a tag. Nobody

<v Speaker 1>was there. Chelsea decided to turn back valiantly, like the

<v Speaker 1>valiant babyface. She turned back around. She ran back down

<v Speaker 1>to the ring, tagged in, took Nia down with a

<v Speaker 1>missile dropkick. Lash got sent outside. On the top rope,

<v Speaker 1>Chelsea hit a crossbody on Nia on the floor. At ringside,

<v Speaker 1>Lash caught Tiffany as Tiffany was leaping off for a

<v Speaker 1>cannonball off the apron. She caught her and swung her

<v Speaker 1>into the barricade. And meanwhile, in the ring, Nia dropped

<v Speaker 1>Chelsea with a Samoan drop. She hit the Annihilator, and

<v Speaker 1>she pinned her. And so the Irresistible Forces pick up

<v Speaker 1>the win here. Pretty standard stuff. They gave Chelsea the

<v Speaker 1>big heroic comeback spot where she was hurt and looked

<v Speaker 1>like she was going to have to leave, but she

<v Speaker 1>ran back down to the ring. And look, first of all,

<v Speaker 1>it's good to see her back in the ring because

<v Speaker 1>that obviously tells us that the injury is not as

<v Speaker 1>serious as it could have been. She's not going to

<v Speaker 1>need surgery or anything like that. So just her being

<v Speaker 1>in the ring, mask or no mask, was a positive sign.

<v Speaker 1>And if she has to defend her championship within those

<v Speaker 1>30 days, and now I don't know how many days

<v Speaker 1>are left now, it's less than 30, Nia Jax is

<v Speaker 1>the one they've chosen. And they teased this a few

<v Speaker 1>weeks ago, so we knew she was going to be

<v Speaker 1>getting a shot. If Nia is the one that they've

<v Speaker 1>chosen to get that first crack at the championship, then

<v Speaker 1>it made sense for her to get the win here.

<v Speaker 1>Now that's not a match that I want to see.

<v Speaker 1>And I'm sure that's not a match that many of

<v Speaker 1>you want to see. I can't imagine there's a lot

<v Speaker 1>of people out there who are like, man, I can't

<v Speaker 1>wait to see Nia Jax and Chelsea Green for the

<v Speaker 1>Women's Championship. I don't get the sense that there's this

<v Speaker 1>unbridled enthusiasm to see that championship match. But if that

<v Speaker 1>is the match that they have chosen, then the outcome

<v Speaker 1>made sense. So it served the purpose that it needed

<v Speaker 1>to serve. Beyond that, I don't really have a whole

<v Speaker 1>lot to say about the match itself. It was a

<v Speaker 1>means to an end and nothing more. Now we cut

<v Speaker 1>to the back. We go to Nick Aldis' office, and

<v Speaker 1>Danhausen is in there. And by the way, before I

<v Speaker 1>even get into the Danhausen shit, just to go back

<v Speaker 1>to Chelsea for a second, while they have done a

<v Speaker 1>decent job of trying to really build her up as

<v Speaker 1>a babyface, it's pretty clear, you know, watching the television,

<v Speaker 1>ever since she won the championship, put the injury aside,

<v Speaker 1>I mean, before she even got hurt, look what they

<v Speaker 1>had her doing on the first SmackDown, right? Coming out

<v Speaker 1>of SummerSlam. Fucking tag team match in the middle of

<v Speaker 1>the card. It's pretty clear where she falls in the

<v Speaker 1>pecking order there. And her title run is not going

<v Speaker 1>to last very long. You know, whether they wait until

<v Speaker 1>Rhea Ripley comes back, I don't even think they're waiting

<v Speaker 1>that long. Because to me, at the earliest, Rhea would

<v Speaker 1>be back at the end of the year, right? They're

<v Speaker 1>going to be in Perth. You missed that announcement. WrestlePalooza

<v Speaker 1>is coming back in December. maybe they're hopeful that Rhea

<v Speaker 1>will be back in time for that Perth show, but

<v Speaker 1>even if she's not, I'm sure she'll be there. I

<v Speaker 1>don't even think we're going to have to wait that long.

<v Speaker 1>And so whether it's Tiffany Stratton, who turns on her,

<v Speaker 1>whether it's Blake Monroe, who keeps saying, I want to

<v Speaker 1>wrestle for the championship, I'm not going to debut unless

<v Speaker 1>I'm wrestling for the championship, whoever it may be, I

<v Speaker 1>don't think Chelsea Green as women's champion is long for

<v Speaker 1>this world. That's what I think. Now we cut to

<v Speaker 1>Nick Aldis in the back. What's going on, brother? Dan

<v Speaker 1>Housen walks in and he starts talking some nonsense. Gunther

<v Speaker 1>then walks in. He complains about being made to jump

<v Speaker 1>through hoops just to prove himself to Kevin Owens and

<v Speaker 1>the ghost of Finn Balor. So Aldis assured him that

<v Speaker 1>there would be no other changes to this match. It's

<v Speaker 1>not going to be a SummerSlam situation where we're going

<v Speaker 1>to be adding more people or some kind of surprise,

<v Speaker 1>you know, stipulation or anything like that. No surprises, no

<v Speaker 1>funny business. So Gunther looked Danhausen up and down, had

<v Speaker 1>nothing to say, and then just walked away. Danhausen asked Aldis,

<v Speaker 1>did he say ghost? And Aldis told him, well, it's

<v Speaker 1>a figure of speech. And he goes, well, could I

<v Speaker 1>be added to the match? And Aldis said no. And

<v Speaker 1>Danhausen left. I'm not even going to sit here and

<v Speaker 1>comment on the segment or how bad it is or

<v Speaker 1>anything like that. I'm just happy that they have severely

<v Speaker 1>toned down the Dan Housen stuff. Because that's what many

<v Speaker 1>of us wanted, right? Dan Housen is fine in small doses,

<v Speaker 1>but it just got to a point where he was

<v Speaker 1>all over these shows. And when that happens, people don't

<v Speaker 1>want to see him anymore. You burn people out on him.

<v Speaker 1>So they've dialed it back. Great. Thank you. I appreciate it.

<v Speaker 1>We had another women's match. Women's match number two. On

<v Speaker 1>the night. Which was for the Women's United States Championship.

<v Speaker 1>Jaycee Jane defending her title against Paige. Fatal Influence was

<v Speaker 1>outside in Jaycee's corner and they made their presence felt.

<v Speaker 1>After a commercial break, Paige attempted to apply the PTO, J.C.

<v Speaker 1>was able to avoid it. So Laney Reed and Fallon Henley,

<v Speaker 1>they jumped up on the apron on opposite sides of

<v Speaker 1>the ring. And Page went to one side, took out Laney,

<v Speaker 1>went to the other side, booted Fallon out of the ring.

<v Speaker 1>And this distraction led to Page turning around, getting rolled

<v Speaker 1>up by J.C. and pinned. Very lame finish. And JC Jane,

<v Speaker 1>just like that, retains the United States Championship. After the

<v Speaker 1>match was over, Nikki Bella ran in and she ambushed

<v Speaker 1>Paige in the ring. She stomped on her a few

<v Speaker 1>times and then hit the rack attack 2.0. Riveting stuff.

<v Speaker 1>That's it. Very simple. Very simple. they're going to have

<v Speaker 1>a match at some point. I don't know when they

<v Speaker 1>have that match, if it's going to just die there,

<v Speaker 1>or if they're going to drag out some sort of

<v Speaker 1>long-term feud between these two. But again, the fact that

<v Speaker 1>we had so many women's matches on this show is

<v Speaker 1>not what made this a very dull show. It's that

<v Speaker 1>we had all these women's matches, and we had, you

<v Speaker 1>see the outcomes to some of these matches and what

<v Speaker 1>they did. And it was just completely uninspired. Just boring.

<v Speaker 1>Like you watch this and it's like, okay, like ho-hum,

<v Speaker 1>who cares? These are not hot feuds. you know if

<v Speaker 1>these were feuds and programs that people wanted to see

<v Speaker 1>and that they were reacting to and that they were

<v Speaker 1>really invested in that would be one thing um it's

<v Speaker 1>it's not enough to just say hey here's a bunch

<v Speaker 1>of women's matches when nobody gives a fuck about them

<v Speaker 1>and everyone's sitting on their hands for them and then

<v Speaker 1>you have one after the other after the other It's like,

<v Speaker 1>it's just hard to get excited about what you're actually

<v Speaker 1>seeing on the show. Again, Nia Jax and Chelsea Green,

<v Speaker 1>who asked for that? Paige and Nikki Bella. Are people

<v Speaker 1>genuinely excited to see this? I don't get it. We

<v Speaker 1>got a recap of Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton's segment

<v Speaker 1>from last week. After that, we cut live to the back.

<v Speaker 1>And Cody is sitting there, and he's in his pink suit.

<v Speaker 1>I don't know if I've seen him in this suit before,

<v Speaker 1>but he's sitting there, and so over comes Finn Balor.

<v Speaker 1>And Cody said, you know, the situation with Randy Orton

<v Speaker 1>and the whole no more title opportunities if we touch

<v Speaker 1>situation had been weighing on him. And Balor said, look,

<v Speaker 1>Cody shouldn't let this take him down a dark path.

<v Speaker 1>That he can't come back from. Another little tease there

<v Speaker 1>of a potential Cody heel turn at some point. Balor said, look,

<v Speaker 1>by the time you're done with Randy Orton, I'll be

<v Speaker 1>WWE champion and then you and I can do the deal.

<v Speaker 1>You and I can go one-on-one. And they shook hands.

<v Speaker 1>Off went Balor. Elsewhere in the back, Trick Williams, he

<v Speaker 1>asked Lil Yachty, are you sure that you're ready to

<v Speaker 1>do this? Are you sure that you're ready to get

<v Speaker 1>in the ring at Sunday night's main event? with Baron

<v Speaker 1>Corbin and Yachty said you know he remembered being put

<v Speaker 1>records here. But if anybody was ever going to beat

<v Speaker 1>the record, it would have been Randy. It should have

<v Speaker 1>been Randy. But now it's not going to happen. Cody

<v Speaker 1>said Randy has been his own worst enemy. And every

<v Speaker 1>time he came to a crossroads, he took the wrong path.

<v Speaker 1>And he reminded us of Randy getting slapped on the

<v Speaker 1>wrist when others got shown the door. Orton's shoulders could

<v Speaker 1>never handle the accountability of his own actions. So Cody

<v Speaker 1>said that he's tired of the excuses and how it's

<v Speaker 1>never Randy's fault. It's always someone else's fault, right? It's

<v Speaker 1>never his. He said it wouldn't be Randy beating Randy

<v Speaker 1>this time. It would be him. And that brought out

<v Speaker 1>Randy Orton. So he made his way out, and remember,

<v Speaker 1>they can't touch each other. So there's not going to

<v Speaker 1>be any brawling into the crowd, you know, like we

<v Speaker 1>had a few weeks ago or anything like that. Orton

<v Speaker 1>comes out, and he gets in the ring, and he says,

<v Speaker 1>you know, Cody's right. Earlier in his career, he had

<v Speaker 1>no accountability. Cody was right there in the driver's seat,

<v Speaker 1>making sure that he got tucked in at night. And

<v Speaker 1>he said if Cody felt like he had some resentment

<v Speaker 1>about it, he could go ahead and punch him in

<v Speaker 1>the face right now. So he was trying to bait

<v Speaker 1>this man into doing something that he really did not

<v Speaker 1>want to do. Sticking his chin out. Go ahead, take

<v Speaker 1>of the better things on the entire show, to be

<v Speaker 1>honest with you. The whole no physicality thing makes sense

<v Speaker 1>to me because we had that wild brawl a couple

<v Speaker 1>of weeks ago where Orton came out. We didn't get

<v Speaker 1>the Cody and Sammy match, and they brawled into the crowd.

<v Speaker 1>They went back to ringside. They rehashed the angle we

<v Speaker 1>saw heading into WrestleMania where Orton had caved Cody's head

<v Speaker 1>in with the chair. Cody was going to do the

<v Speaker 1>same to him, and it's like, you know, What more

<v Speaker 1>can you really do at this point? You can have

<v Speaker 1>your prototypical pull apart brawl, which we see every single week,

<v Speaker 1>or you can at least get the two of them

<v Speaker 1>face to face in the ring together, but just have

<v Speaker 1>it so that they can't put their hands on each other.

<v Speaker 1>Make people wait to have to. see it in Atlanta

<v Speaker 1>on September 6th. And in the meantime, you just have

<v Speaker 1>them cut promos on each other. And so what they've

<v Speaker 1>chosen to do is just have, you know, Orton just

<v Speaker 1>try to get under his skin and just bait him

<v Speaker 1>and bait him and bait him. And I don't know

<v Speaker 1>if they're going to do the same thing next week.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, I don't really think there's anything left for

<v Speaker 1>them to do at this point. Honestly, right? Just run

<v Speaker 1>a video package. Just give us the fucking match. We

<v Speaker 1>got it at WrestleMania. It was fucking ruined. The whole

<v Speaker 1>storyline was ruined by WWE and TKO. So now they're

<v Speaker 1>getting a second bite of the apple. We have the

<v Speaker 1>rematch finally coming up on this show. And we know

<v Speaker 1>where the battle lines are drawn. We know what the

<v Speaker 1>basic story and the basic gist is here. And so

<v Speaker 1>we'll see. I mean, Orton, it would make sense for

<v Speaker 1>him to win this next match because I don't think

<v Speaker 1>this is going to be a one and done with

<v Speaker 1>these two. Orton can win. And Orton has already said

<v Speaker 1>that coming out of this, he wants to go after

<v Speaker 1>the WWE championship. Cody, they've dropped so many little teases

<v Speaker 1>and hints about a potential heel turn. They've done so

<v Speaker 1>much of it that it makes me think it's not

<v Speaker 1>happening anytime soon. They just want you to believe that

<v Speaker 1>it is. Cody's, he's had a little bit of an

<v Speaker 1>edge to his character. His character is not radically different

<v Speaker 1>than what it usually is. I'd like to see more

<v Speaker 1>of a shift in a darker direction, even if he

<v Speaker 1>doesn't actually go heel. We'll see if they do anything

<v Speaker 1>like that at Sunday night's main event coming out of

<v Speaker 1>that match. But they've said everything that there is to

<v Speaker 1>be said here in this feud. Let's just get him

<v Speaker 1>in the ring and See where it goes from there

<v Speaker 1>because the WWE title picture at the top of the

<v Speaker 1>card right now is busy enough as it is without

<v Speaker 1>Cody and without Randy Orton involved. Coming out of this show,

<v Speaker 1>one or both of them are going to be thrust

<v Speaker 1>a fucking mess. You're going to have like seven or

<v Speaker 1>eight different people going after the championship, which in a

<v Speaker 1>way is kind of cool that you have so many

<v Speaker 1>people aiming for the belt, but only so many people

<v Speaker 1>could go after it at the same time. So who

<v Speaker 1>gets the next shot? That has to be decided. Cody

<v Speaker 1>the last trios match they had. Well, yeah, I guess so.

<v Speaker 1>I guess that is true. Ray Phoenix, he was interviewed

<v Speaker 1>about facing his brother Penta on Raw this coming Monday.

<v Speaker 1>We have the finals of the Lucha Tournament. The winner

<v Speaker 1>will go on to Mexico City on September 14th to

<v Speaker 1>wrestle Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship. And he

<v Speaker 1>said he loves his brother, but this is his shot.

<v Speaker 1>This is his opportunity. Ricky Saint showed up. He said

<v Speaker 1>that they should skip to the part where Phoenix comes

<v Speaker 1>back to SmackDown and gives him a crack at the

<v Speaker 1>AAA Cruiserweight title. Phoenix then pitched a different scenario, one

<v Speaker 1>where he wins the World Heavyweight Championship. Then he comes

<v Speaker 1>back to SmackDown to shut Ricky up. Well, it's nice

<v Speaker 1>to have goals. That's all well and good. We all

<v Speaker 1>should have hopes and dreams the way that Ray Phoenix

<v Speaker 1>has about being the World Heavyweight Champion and beating Roman Reigns.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, that's cute. That's adorable. Tatum Paxley with Charlexa

<v Speaker 1>in her corner taking on Meechan with Jaden B-Fab in hers.

<v Speaker 1>Meechan caught her with a PK from the apron early

<v Speaker 1>in this match. Tatum, though, knocked her to the floor

<v Speaker 1>and then delivered a moonsault from the apron, and that

<v Speaker 1>took us into a commercial break. Meechan was in control

<v Speaker 1>when the show came back, got a submission apply. Paxley, though,

<v Speaker 1>reversed into a pin attempt for two. Meechan caught her

<v Speaker 1>with a sit-out powerbomb, followed that up with a Styles

<v Speaker 1>Clash attempt, but she got Back dropped out of that.

<v Speaker 1>Paxley finished her off with a rolling capo kick and

<v Speaker 1>then her cemetery drive finish for the win. So Tatum

<v Speaker 1>Paxley victorious here in her debut. She looked good. She

<v Speaker 1>was able to show off some of her athleticism. You know,

<v Speaker 1>it was what you would hope the debut would be.

<v Speaker 1>You know, she got to show off some of her

<v Speaker 1>flashier offense. She got the win to establish herself on

<v Speaker 1>the show. They announced her for a match on Sunday

<v Speaker 1>night's main event. And so this is good. You know,

<v Speaker 1>up until this point, we've only had her in a

<v Speaker 1>couple of backstage segments, and I just think it's been

<v Speaker 1>very lame. Like, these segments haven't been hitting. So we

<v Speaker 1>had to get her in the ring. Now they've done that.

<v Speaker 1>She looked good. Now we'll go on to Sunday night's

<v Speaker 1>main event, and we'll see where it goes. Because everything

<v Speaker 1>they've done with her up until now has just been

<v Speaker 1>very blah. So this was better, at least, than what

<v Speaker 1>they've had her doing. Speaking of blah, we had a video.

<v Speaker 1>of Blake Monroe attacking Julia before what was supposed to

<v Speaker 1>be their singles match on the show last week. That

<v Speaker 1>was supposed to be Blake Monroe's SmackDown debut. It never

<v Speaker 1>took place because she jumped her in the aisle way

<v Speaker 1>and then beat her up in the ring. Now we

<v Speaker 1>come back live backstage. Blake is with Jackie, who asks,

<v Speaker 1>why would you jeopardize your own debut like that? And

<v Speaker 1>Blake said the match was beneath her. When there is

<v Speaker 1>a worthy opponent and an entrance glamorous enough for her,

<v Speaker 1>then she will make her debut. So Julia, at this point,

<v Speaker 1>stormed in, attacked Blake, threw her into a nearby garage door,

<v Speaker 1>and left her sitting on the floor. There was a

<v Speaker 1>report earlier this week from False Finish that WWE was

<v Speaker 1>considering adding that match, Blake Monroe and Julia, to the

<v Speaker 1>Sunday night's main event card. After the announcement of the three...

<v Speaker 1>Not three-way, but the trios match. The women's six-person tag

<v Speaker 1>that we got earlier tonight. I'm assuming that's not happening now.

<v Speaker 1>I don't know that they would add both those matches.

<v Speaker 1>But that was one rumor that was floating around. My

<v Speaker 1>guess is it just happens on SmackDown sometime in the

<v Speaker 1>next two weeks. Maybe when they're in Mexico City on

<v Speaker 1>September 11th, I think. We'll see. But the story they're

<v Speaker 1>doing with Blake Monroe is, I guess, in their mind,

<v Speaker 1>they're going to just hold off on this as long

<v Speaker 1>as they possibly can. and build it up is a

<v Speaker 1>really big deal and the hope is that when she

<v Speaker 1>finally does get in the ring for a big match

<v Speaker 1>maybe it'll be for the championship who's to say that

<v Speaker 1>she doesn't she isn't the one to beat chelsea green

<v Speaker 1>to win the women's title how about it indeed venom

<v Speaker 1>kitetsu exactly how about that idea doesn't excuse the fact

<v Speaker 1>though that it just this whole run so far if

<v Speaker 1>we could even use that word on the main roster

<v Speaker 1>has just been very bizarre You know, because again, those

<v Speaker 1>video packages for her started airing, I mean, literally months ago.

<v Speaker 1>And then she showed up on SmackDown, but then it

<v Speaker 1>was right back to the vignettes. And it's like, what

<v Speaker 1>are we doing here? Like, what are we doing with

<v Speaker 1>this woman? You know, it'd be one thing if that

<v Speaker 1>was the way things were kind of playing out over

<v Speaker 1>a couple of months, but like four months, five months,

<v Speaker 1>what are we doing here? At least now she's getting consistent,

<v Speaker 1>you know, television time. But I just hope at the

<v Speaker 1>end of all this, they have something that is, you know,

<v Speaker 1>satisfactory when it comes to Blake. If Blake is not

<v Speaker 1>one of the biggest stars in that division on this

<v Speaker 1>show in six months, then they're doing something wrong. Like,

<v Speaker 1>she should be in that position. If not the champion,

<v Speaker 1>she should be up in that mix, you know, wrestling

<v Speaker 1>all the big names that there are to wrestle on SmackDown. Like,

<v Speaker 1>she is made for WWE. She's tailor-made for this company. Like,

<v Speaker 1>if you can't, find something worthy for her to be

<v Speaker 1>doing that places her in that kind of upper position,

<v Speaker 1>then you're just doing something wrong. So whatever it is,

<v Speaker 1>I hope it's good. I want to see her succeed.

<v Speaker 1>Elsewhere in the back, Randy Orton approached Kevin Owens, who

<v Speaker 1>was on his way out to the ring for the

<v Speaker 1>main event. Yes, we are already up to the main

<v Speaker 1>event of this show. And they run into each other. Obviously,

<v Speaker 1>there's a lot of history here between these two. Orton

<v Speaker 1>said it pained him to admit that Owens was right

<v Speaker 1>about Cody. And Owens lit up like a Christmas tree.

<v Speaker 1>He was so happy. He's like, see, I told you

<v Speaker 1>I was right. I'm glad you agree. He goes, right?

<v Speaker 1>Everything I told you about this guy. Orton cautioned that

<v Speaker 1>I haven't forgotten that you dropped me on my head,

<v Speaker 1>so you and I are still not friends. Owens said, well,

<v Speaker 1>we can work on that. But I got to go

<v Speaker 1>win my match. He goes, I'll call you. And off

<v Speaker 1>he goes. And Orton was left flustered and just muttered

<v Speaker 1>to himself, don't. so basically my takeaway from all this

<v Speaker 1>is that everybody on this show hates Cody Rhodes I

<v Speaker 1>Then they pulled back. But it was very obvious, like

<v Speaker 1>what they wanted you to think he was about to do,

<v Speaker 1>but then they didn't give it to you. If it's

<v Speaker 1>going to happen, that's the place to do it. And

<v Speaker 1>I think, honestly... I think for Damian Priest, turning him

<v Speaker 1>is probably the best idea. Because this baby-faced Damian Priest

<v Speaker 1>Nia Jax demanded a WWE Women's Championship match within the

<v Speaker 1>next two weeks, which again, Chelsea has to defend that

<v Speaker 1>men took each other out for the triple down. We

<v Speaker 1>got an overhead shot of all the carnage. Owens was

<v Speaker 1>in the drop zone a little while later for Balor,

<v Speaker 1>but Owens got back up to his feet and he

<v Speaker 1>cut him off. Owens scales the ropes, and he is

<v Speaker 1>going to go for a superplex. Gunther, though, pulls him

<v Speaker 1>back down, and he destroyed him, just wrecked him with

<v Speaker 1>a clothesline. Chopped the soul out of Balor, chopped him

<v Speaker 1>right off the ropes. Gunther got Owens down with a

<v Speaker 1>sleeper hold. So... They're laid out flat on the mat.

<v Speaker 1>Gunther is underneath. Owens is on top. He's being choked out.

<v Speaker 1>Balor gets back up on the ropes. He comes flying

<v Speaker 1>off with the double foot stomp. More on top of

<v Speaker 1>Owens than Gunther, but it's enough to break the hold. So...

<v Speaker 1>Shotgun dropkick by Balor takes down Gunther. He goes back

<v Speaker 1>up to the top. Coup de grace. Balor covers Gunther.

<v Speaker 1>Seemingly has the match won. Sami Zayn is here. He

<v Speaker 1>drags Finn Balor out of the ring before the count

<v Speaker 1>of three. And he sends him flying over the announce desk.

<v Speaker 1>Then Dan Angler, the referee, is outside. What are you doing?

<v Speaker 1>What are you doing? And Sami just punches him right

<v Speaker 1>in the fucking face. and just knocks him out, just

<v Speaker 1>decks him. Meanwhile, back in the ring, Owens dropped Gunther

<v Speaker 1>with the stunner, and he had him pinned, but there's

<v Speaker 1>no referee. Just like last week with CM Punk. Well,

<v Speaker 1>here comes another referee, and he comes sprinting down to

<v Speaker 1>the ring, but right as he got down to ringside,

<v Speaker 1>Sammy just wipes him out. And he yells at the referee,

<v Speaker 1>not on my watch! So now out comes CM Punk.

<v Speaker 1>And the champion attacks Sammy. He's yelling, this is justice, Sammy.

<v Speaker 1>This is justice. As he's raining knuckle sandwiches down upon

<v Speaker 1>this man. And he picks up the WWE championship. And

<v Speaker 1>he's going to hit Sammy with it. Sammy sees this.

<v Speaker 1>And so Sammy rolls into the ring. Into the ring

<v Speaker 1>goes Punk. But when Punk stands up, Owens is there.

<v Speaker 1>Owens goes after Punk. Punk goes after Owens. And the

<v Speaker 1>two of them begin slugging it out in the middle

<v Speaker 1>of the ring. Sami Zayn, though, he grabs the WWE Championship.

<v Speaker 1>He blasts Kevin Owens in the head with it. And

<v Speaker 1>then he blasts Balor with the belt. Gunther comes up

<v Speaker 1>from behind with the sleeper hold. And then Sami swings

<v Speaker 1>the title up over his head, behind his head. And

<v Speaker 1>he waffles Gunther with the belt as well. And then

<v Speaker 1>down goes CM Punk with the belt shot. Sami goes

<v Speaker 1>around each guy laying on the ground. He's yelling at

<v Speaker 1>each one of them as he is holding up the

<v Speaker 1>WWE title. And he's yelling at them and he's screaming,

<v Speaker 1>no justice, no one gets it. Says, I don't get mine,

<v Speaker 1>you don't get yours. And for the second week in

<v Speaker 1>a row, SmackDown went off the air with Sami Zayn

<v Speaker 1>standing tall and holding up the WWE championship. So this

<v Speaker 1>is the story that they are telling with Sami Zayn.

<v Speaker 1>He is out for justice. He even said it at

<v Speaker 1>one point, no justice, no peace, right? He's justice for Sami.

<v Speaker 1>You see it on his t-shirt every single week. He

<v Speaker 1>is going to make everyone's lives a living hell. And

<v Speaker 1>he is going to ruin every single one of these

<v Speaker 1>matches until he gets what he wants. Now you would

<v Speaker 1>think Nick Aldis would not reward bad behavior for it.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, clearly he's going to get a rematch at

<v Speaker 1>some point. Where they go from here, I don't know,

<v Speaker 1>which I kind of like, right? There's a lot of

<v Speaker 1>different ways they could go with this. You could just

<v Speaker 1>have Punk go down the line and defend his title

<v Speaker 1>individually against all these men, right? More likely than not,

<v Speaker 1>we'll end up with some sort of fatal four-way or

<v Speaker 1>some sort of multi-man situation for the championship. And even

<v Speaker 1>when we get that, I don't know. Punk is not defending.

<v Speaker 1>He's not wrestling. I don't believe it's Sunday night's main event.

<v Speaker 1>We don't have another PLE after that until Money in

<v Speaker 1>the Bank. We got to get something before then, so

<v Speaker 1>maybe it's just a random episode of SmackDown, but whenever

<v Speaker 1>it may be, I'm interested to see what comes next.

<v Speaker 1>I'm happy and hopeful Kevin Owens is still in that mix.

<v Speaker 1>that match we had in Toronto last week was only

<v Speaker 1>going to be a one and done, and now at

<v Speaker 1>least it seems like that's not the case, and Owens

<v Speaker 1>may get another shot soon. Doesn't mean he's going to win.

<v Speaker 1>and done. But at least he's still in that mix. Owens, Punk,

<v Speaker 1>and Zayn in like a three-way feud. I like that.

<v Speaker 1>probably branch off, have their own match, do their own thing.

<v Speaker 1>So I think they have enough people to keep things

<v Speaker 1>we'll see how the WWE Championship situation shakes out. Punk's

<v Speaker 1>going to drop it, I feel like it would have

<v Speaker 1>unfolding on SmackDown right now, but the reality is SmackDown

<v Speaker 1>is still largely a bore. It's just not a very

<v Speaker 1>interesting television show. And I hope they can change that.
