<v Speaker 1>What is going on, everybody? It is good to be
<v Speaker 1>back with you here on a Sunday night. We have
<v Speaker 1>a Sunday night's main event review. Normally, it's Saturday night's
<v Speaker 1>main event. They decided to do one on a Sunday
<v Speaker 1>for whatever reason. They were in Atlanta for what was
<v Speaker 1>advertised as a four-match card, technically turned into a six-match
<v Speaker 1>card because they added a pre-show match, and then one
<v Speaker 1>of the matches on the show morphed into two. Basically,
<v Speaker 1>the way I would sum up this show is It
<v Speaker 1>was Raw or SmackDown, but without a lot of the
<v Speaker 1>backstage segments. That stuff was basically gone. Otherwise, it was
<v Speaker 1>just a juiced up episode of Raw or SmackDown. Very
<v Speaker 1>heel heavy night. It was an easy watch. In and
<v Speaker 1>out in two hours. It was a good night to
<v Speaker 1>be a bad guy on this show. Or bad girl,
<v Speaker 1>I guess you would say. Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
<v Speaker 1>Start there. These two were one of the WrestleMania main
<v Speaker 1>events this year. A lot of history to draw from
<v Speaker 1>between these two. We've already talked ad nauseum about all
<v Speaker 1>the extracurricular stuff that botched up that match. And so
<v Speaker 1>now they have a chance to have a proper feud
<v Speaker 1>that is centered on them and nobody else. No celebrities,
<v Speaker 1>no outside forces, none of that. And they've had the
<v Speaker 1>stipulation now for a few weeks where these two haven't
<v Speaker 1>been able to put their hands on each other. So
<v Speaker 1>Randy Orton has been trying to goad him and get
<v Speaker 1>under his skin because if one touched the other, that
<v Speaker 1>person would never again be allowed to challenge for the
<v Speaker 1>WWE Championship. And Orton's been trying everything. He's been insulting
<v Speaker 1>Cody's mother. He's been insulting Cody's wife. He's been insulting
<v Speaker 1>Cody's dog. I'm surprised he didn't bring up Dusty. Actually,
<v Speaker 1>I think he may have brought up Dusty. But beyond that,
<v Speaker 1>Cody has not taken the bait. And Cody told him,
<v Speaker 1>he said, look, If you think that I'm crazy because
<v Speaker 1>I put the championship above my own family, right? Because
<v Speaker 1>I won't lift a finger to defend my family, but
<v Speaker 1>I don't want to lose the chance to win my
<v Speaker 1>belt back. If you think I'm crazy because of that,
<v Speaker 1>and you think I'm dangerous, and I hear voices myself,
<v Speaker 1>what do you think I'm going to do to you
<v Speaker 1>on Sunday? You're screwed, is what he told him on
<v Speaker 1>SmackDown the other night. So they've really been leaning in
<v Speaker 1>heavily into this idea that Cody is sort of embracing
<v Speaker 1>his dark side. Or... Cody himself has come out and said,
<v Speaker 1>I'm no longer constrained by the standards of being the
<v Speaker 1>WWE champion, which means I don't have to be the
<v Speaker 1>good guy anymore. And people have been begging for him
<v Speaker 1>to be the bad guy now for a while. A
<v Speaker 1>year ago, I would have said it still didn't make
<v Speaker 1>any sense, but now I'm at a point, as many
<v Speaker 1>of you are, I know, where anything different is good
<v Speaker 1>when it comes to Cody Rhodes. I'm all for a
<v Speaker 1>trip to the dark side for Cody. Based on what
<v Speaker 1>they did here on this show, if they're not headed
<v Speaker 1>in that direction soon, then I really don't know what
<v Speaker 1>the point of any of this is. They've dropped little
<v Speaker 1>subtle hints. Tonight, Randy Orton begging off near the end
<v Speaker 1>of the match, blood coming down his face, it looked
<v Speaker 1>like from his ear, and Cody fell into the same
<v Speaker 1>trap that he fell into at WrestleMania last year with
<v Speaker 1>John Cena, which is that he had the chance to
<v Speaker 1>do whatever it takes to put the man away, and
<v Speaker 1>he didn't do it because he's too good. He's too
<v Speaker 1>much of a pure babyface. Can't bring himself to do
<v Speaker 1>what needs to be done and drop the kill shot.
<v Speaker 1>And it cost him. Randy Orton hits him low. Randy
<v Speaker 1>Orton picks up the win. Now they're even. One win apiece.
<v Speaker 1>Cody won at Mania. Orton won tonight. So we know
<v Speaker 1>we're not done with this feud. They're going to have
<v Speaker 1>at least one more match, I'm sure, with some kind
<v Speaker 1>of stipulation. And Cody Rhodes ends up looking like a
<v Speaker 1>fucking dweeb when this show is over because how stupid
<v Speaker 1>do you need to be? This man punt kicked you
<v Speaker 1>in the head after your WrestleMania main event. Fucked up
<v Speaker 1>your face for weeks after that. Tried to end your career.
<v Speaker 1>In addition to all the awful things he said about
<v Speaker 1>your family. And when push came to shove, Cody could
<v Speaker 1>not bring himself to finish this guy off. He deserved
<v Speaker 1>to lose. He looked like a fucking loser. And by
<v Speaker 1>the way, for all the evil stuff that Orton's been
<v Speaker 1>saying about Cody and screwing up that WWE title match
<v Speaker 1>at SummerSlam, right? Trying to get booed by all the fans.
<v Speaker 1>And they were in Atlanta, no less, right? Cody's hometown,
<v Speaker 1>Cody's backyard. They're in Atlanta. And as the match was
<v Speaker 1>nearing its conclusion, you could hear the fans. And these
<v Speaker 1>weren't just pockets of fans. You could hear the fans, Randy, Randy.
<v Speaker 1>They're cheering for Randy Orton. Not that Cody, when he
<v Speaker 1>came out, got a bad reaction. It wasn't anything overwhelming.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, he was cheered. But the time has come.
<v Speaker 1>And I can only hope that we are headed in
<v Speaker 1>that direction, not six months from now, but very soon.
<v Speaker 1>In fact, I could see in this next match that
<v Speaker 1>these two have, whenever that may be. I don't know
<v Speaker 1>if it would be Money in the Bank or Crown
<v Speaker 1>Jewel or some other event. I'm all for a double turn.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I struggle to even say double turn because, again,
<v Speaker 1>people don't. really want to boo Randy Orton. But obviously
<v Speaker 1>he's been booked as a heel since the whole Pat
<v Speaker 1>McAfee angle, even though people still love him. But you
<v Speaker 1>could say the same thing about Roman Reigns, right? The
<v Speaker 1>guy's a fucking heel and the fans cheer him when
<v Speaker 1>he comes out every week. Kind of the same thing.
<v Speaker 1>But you could do a double turn where Orton slides
<v Speaker 1>back into the babyface column and Cody goes heel. Whatever
<v Speaker 1>that looks like. You know, I mean, does he dye
<v Speaker 1>his hair again? I was going to say he starts
<v Speaker 1>wearing suits and being all corporate. He's been doing that
<v Speaker 1>for fucking four years. Longer than that if you want
<v Speaker 1>to go back to his time in AEW. So whatever
<v Speaker 1>change he would make, I'm all for it. I just
<v Speaker 1>hope they get to it soon. You can only tease
<v Speaker 1>it for so long, you got to give it to people. Plus,
<v Speaker 1>it'll just make the television more interesting. If Cody is
<v Speaker 1>in the heel column and Punk is in the babyface column,
<v Speaker 1>eventually when you circle back around to that match, the
<v Speaker 1>whole dynamic now has shifted. It makes things a lot
<v Speaker 1>more interesting, and it makes it a lot fresher in
<v Speaker 1>that way. But Randy Orton gets his win back tonight.
<v Speaker 1>We also had the battle for the future of WWE.
<v Speaker 1>Paul Heyman was in the middle of this. In fact,
<v Speaker 1>he was there tonight to introduce both men out to
<v Speaker 1>the ring. Braun Breaker and Obafemi. And we had what I,
<v Speaker 1>and I'm sure many of you also, figured would be
<v Speaker 1>the case. But what I had talked about for weeks,
<v Speaker 1>which was the return of Bronson Reed, who has been
<v Speaker 1>out since, I believe, February when he got hurt. He
<v Speaker 1>tore his biceps in a qualifying match, I do believe
<v Speaker 1>it was, for the Elimination Chamber. And I've seen these
<v Speaker 1>social media photos that he shared online over these last,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, couple of months maybe. And it was
<v Speaker 1>clear that he was coming back and he was a
<v Speaker 1>lot slimmer and he was in great shape. He's really
<v Speaker 1>been putting the work in. But Even still, when I
<v Speaker 1>saw him tonight come out during that match, it took
<v Speaker 1>me back. It really did. It took me back. And
<v Speaker 1>I honestly, when I first looked at him, I thought
<v Speaker 1>I was looking at Jimmy Uso. And I'm like, hmm.
<v Speaker 1>I thought he looked familiar. Bronson Reed is in the
<v Speaker 1>best fucking shape of his entire life. At least as
<v Speaker 1>long as he's been in WWE or he's been wrestling
<v Speaker 1>that I've ever seen him in. He's lost a lot
<v Speaker 1>of weight. He's still a big guy, but I mean,
<v Speaker 1>he lost a lot of weight. He looks like he's
<v Speaker 1>half a person slimmer than he was before. Which takes
<v Speaker 1>a little bit of the edge off, I guess, when
<v Speaker 1>he climbs up to the top and he comes off
<v Speaker 1>with that big tsunami splash. But still, that's a big
<v Speaker 1>guy crashing down on you. Believe me, that finish is
<v Speaker 1>going to work fine for him. But yes, he did
<v Speaker 1>in fact get involved in that match. We did not
<v Speaker 1>get a clean finish. It was never going to be clean.
<v Speaker 1>But by clean, I mean decisive. Where one person gets pinned.
<v Speaker 1>I was kind of hoping... They would give us like
<v Speaker 1>even a brawn breaker if he needed help. He pins
<v Speaker 1>Obafemi because there's no real harm in doing that, especially
<v Speaker 1>if it takes more than one person to get the
<v Speaker 1>job done. They went with the predictable disqualification finish. So
<v Speaker 1>it leaves things open. There was no real clear winner
<v Speaker 1>and they can run this back at some point. But
<v Speaker 1>he came out and how many how many tsunami splashes
<v Speaker 1>was it was at least four, maybe five of them.
<v Speaker 1>And a bunch of spears from Braun. I mean, they
<v Speaker 1>beat the crap out of this guy when the match
<v Speaker 1>was over. And now it's been left with Obafemi has
<v Speaker 1>not one, but two big rivals now for the next
<v Speaker 1>few months. I'm not even counting Logan Paul. He's still
<v Speaker 1>out hurt. Austin Theory. I mean, give me a fucking break.
<v Speaker 1>It's Braun Breaker and Bronson Reed. And now these guys
<v Speaker 1>can work together. You can do the whole merry-go-round. You
<v Speaker 1>can do Oba and Reed. You can come back to
<v Speaker 1>Oba and Braun. You can do any combination you want.
<v Speaker 1>This will keep him occupied until we get to Royal
<v Speaker 1>Rumble season. And that's still several months away, but I
<v Speaker 1>think you can fill this time. Get you to Rumble season.
<v Speaker 1>Oba Femi has to be the early favorite to win
<v Speaker 1>the Royal Rumble as far as I'm concerned. I know
<v Speaker 1>people were like, well, he still has that title opportunity.
<v Speaker 1>The way things were left, based on something I think
<v Speaker 1>that Corey Graves said on commentary, he technically still has
<v Speaker 1>a championship match that he could quote-unquote cash in whenever
<v Speaker 1>he says, hey, I'm ready to have my match. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know if that's the case or not. I think
<v Speaker 1>they change whichever way the wind blows and whatever's convenient
<v Speaker 1>for them. He's still the favorite to win the Royal Rumble.
<v Speaker 1>And Roman and Oba is likely the match for WrestleMania
<v Speaker 1>in Saudi next year. But what do you do with
<v Speaker 1>him between now and then? Well, here you go. Here's
<v Speaker 1>your answer. and I don't I'm not interested in just
<v Speaker 1>seeing Bronson Reed get a match with Oba Femi and
<v Speaker 1>get beat so that they can get back to Oba
<v Speaker 1>and Bron I don't want him to just be a
<v Speaker 1>stepping stone based on what I saw tonight this guy
<v Speaker 1>is a main event caliber heel who very well could
<v Speaker 1>be in the conversation himself for a world heavyweight championship
<v Speaker 1>run at some point next year as long as he
<v Speaker 1>can stay healthy and I hope he can. I'm not
<v Speaker 1>too thrilled about him still being part of the whole
<v Speaker 1>Vision crew here. Bunch of losers. I mean, it's completely unnecessary,
<v Speaker 1>but maybe they want to tie up some loose ends
<v Speaker 1>before they break him away. But it's good to have
<v Speaker 1>him back. We also had Lil Yachty, and they did
<v Speaker 1>this whole angle where Yachty had a five-minute challenge with
<v Speaker 1>Baron Corbin. All he had to do was survive five minutes.
<v Speaker 1>And if he could, Trick Williams would instantly get a
<v Speaker 1>United States championship match. And as I said, if we
<v Speaker 1>get Trick and Corbin on this show, we're going to
<v Speaker 1>have a new champion. Because they cannot be that dumb
<v Speaker 1>to have Corbin go in there, whether he cheats or not.
<v Speaker 1>And get three straight wins over Trick Williams and still
<v Speaker 1>expect people to give a shit and run it back
<v Speaker 1>for a fourth time. So we either don't get the
<v Speaker 1>match or we get it. And if we get it,
<v Speaker 1>we get a new champion. And that's exactly what happened.
<v Speaker 1>So Trick has his furry belt back. Now we know
<v Speaker 1>why the first stayed. I was kind of hoping they
<v Speaker 1>would have a segment on SmackDown one of these weeks
<v Speaker 1>where he took the shears and he just shaved that
<v Speaker 1>shit off. But. Wasn't going to happen if they were
<v Speaker 1>just going to transition the belt back to Trick Williams,
<v Speaker 1>which they did, and the crowd in Atlanta was very
<v Speaker 1>happy to see him win the belt back. Trick Williams
<v Speaker 1>was the only babyface to pick up a win on
<v Speaker 1>this show. Unless you count Yachty, I guess. You could
<v Speaker 1>technically count Yachty as well. But those are the only
<v Speaker 1>babyfaces to actually win. That's why I said it was
<v Speaker 1>a very heel-heavy night on this show. And there are
<v Speaker 1>problems brewing with Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley, who were
<v Speaker 1>part of a six-woman tag. We're going to talk about
<v Speaker 1>that and everything else here Shouldn't take too long. Again,
<v Speaker 1>it wasn't a very big card. But we're going to
<v Speaker 1>go through it all from top to bottom. Thank you
<v Speaker 1>for being with me here on a Sunday night. This
<v Speaker 1>is your Sunday night's main event review. September 6th, 2026.
<v Speaker 1>It is Labor Day weekend. Hopefully many of you, wherever
<v Speaker 1>you may be working, at least in this country, maybe
<v Speaker 1>you have a day off tomorrow. I don't know what
<v Speaker 1>that looks like. But I hope you have a day off.
<v Speaker 1>And if so, I hope you have a restful Labor Day.
<v Speaker 1>The unofficial end of summer. Where did it go? Where
<v Speaker 1>did summer go? It's already September. Although September has the
<v Speaker 1>best weather, I will say that. So I'm looking forward
<v Speaker 1>to the weather cooling down a little. Not too much,
<v Speaker 1>but just cooling down a little bit. The other good
<v Speaker 1>thing about it is if you're in September, that means
<v Speaker 1>you're that much closer to October, which is my favorite month.
<v Speaker 1>So I can't hate on this time of year. Like
<v Speaker 1>and subscribe if you would. I would appreciate that. Super
<v Speaker 1>chats are open. I know we got a bunch of
<v Speaker 1>them that came in already. I thank you for that.
<v Speaker 1>I will be reading them all. in the order in
<v Speaker 1>which they came a little bit later on. Shout out
<v Speaker 1>to Rojo Bear. Again, I think that might be old
<v Speaker 1>from a few days ago, but I wanted to thank
<v Speaker 1>him for 54 months of channel membership. I appreciate that.
<v Speaker 1>Brand new sound I've dropped earlier this afternoon, episode 979,
<v Speaker 1>talking about a lot of different stuff. So it went
<v Speaker 1>up later in the afternoon. If you missed it, it
<v Speaker 1>will be there for you in the morning. Hopefully you
<v Speaker 1>will check that out. I will bring up the wheel
<v Speaker 1>so that we can find out how many likes we
<v Speaker 1>need to do Be The Booker. Later on tonight. So
<v Speaker 1>let's take her for a spin. A short spin. And
<v Speaker 1>we land on 350. So I'm pretty confident in saying
<v Speaker 1>that we're going to be doing some Be The Booker
<v Speaker 1>a little bit later. We're already at 265. So we
<v Speaker 1>have less than 100 to go. That's going to be
<v Speaker 1>an easy goal tonight. If not, I don't know what
<v Speaker 1>the hell we're doing here. So let's start from the top.
<v Speaker 1>They added a match at the last minute. on the pre-show,
<v Speaker 1>between Joe Hendry and Dominic Mysterio. They never bothered to
<v Speaker 1>announce this in advance, so I came into it late.
<v Speaker 1>Did Hendry at least get a proper entrance? If he did,
<v Speaker 1>I do believe that would be the first time. I
<v Speaker 1>don't mean like him running out to make the save.
<v Speaker 1>I mean actually for a match having a proper entrance.
<v Speaker 1>That would be the first time since he was called
<v Speaker 1>up to the main roster. Hendry was tuning up the
<v Speaker 1>band when Liv Morgan got up on the apron, and
<v Speaker 1>then he ate a dropkick from Dom, and then a 619,
<v Speaker 1>and then a frog splash. And Dominic Mysterio picks up
<v Speaker 1>the win here. Hardly a clean win, but a win
<v Speaker 1>is a win. Especially if you're Dom. You haven't gotten
<v Speaker 1>too many of those this year. I guess they finally
<v Speaker 1>woke up to the fact that, oh shit, Triple Mania
<v Speaker 1>is a week away. Maybe we should start feeding some
<v Speaker 1>wins to our mega champion before he loses the belt
<v Speaker 1>to El Grande Americano. Because he just picked up his
<v Speaker 1>first win on Raw, what was it, like a week
<v Speaker 1>or two ago. First win I can remember in months. Literally,
<v Speaker 1>I think, since May. So, good for Dom. He actually
<v Speaker 1>picked up a win here. For Joe Hendry, who cares?
<v Speaker 1>We know where he's slotted. And he's got a new
<v Speaker 1>album coming out anyway. He was plugging it at the
<v Speaker 1>Mets game the other day. He gave them the scoop.
<v Speaker 1>He said that his album is coming out. God, what
<v Speaker 1>was the date? It's like the second week, maybe, in October.
<v Speaker 1>He's got a brand new album that's dropping, and so
<v Speaker 1>when it drops, I would imagine he'll be getting some
<v Speaker 1>more television time to promote it. They may even do
<v Speaker 1>some concert with him again, because that always works out
<v Speaker 1>so well. Yes, he was at Citi Field the other day.
<v Speaker 1>Something that he and the Mets have in common, they
<v Speaker 1>haven't won very many times this year. So it kind
<v Speaker 1>of made sense that he would show up there. So
<v Speaker 1>after the match, the judgment they got in the ring,
<v Speaker 1>Liv Morgan said that what Dom did to Hendry would
<v Speaker 1>be what she would do to her opponent tomorrow night
<v Speaker 1>on Raw, that being Stephanie Viqueur. And she promised to
<v Speaker 1>retain her title so that she could prove that she
<v Speaker 1>was the greatest women's world champion of all time. I'll
<v Speaker 1>be pulling for Stephanie tomorrow, but I'm not expecting a
<v Speaker 1>title change. Now, before the actual show itself began, they
<v Speaker 1>cut out to the parking lot, and they showed Austin
<v Speaker 1>Theory arriving with all of the other Vision members, and
<v Speaker 1>this was merely an excuse for them to have Theory
<v Speaker 1>and Maxine Dupree promote Arby's new Steak Nuggets. Apparently, I
<v Speaker 1>don't know if they're new so much as they kind
<v Speaker 1>of dip out every now and then, and then they
<v Speaker 1>bring them back. It's like the McRib, and they make
<v Speaker 1>a big deal about it. So I guess the Steak
<v Speaker 1>Nuggets are back at Arby's, And so they come out
<v Speaker 1>of the car, and Theory is eating this shit, and
<v Speaker 1>Maxine is wearing a shirt that says, Hot Girls Eat Arby's.
<v Speaker 1>And they have Theory go, Mmm, juicy and tender. This
<v Speaker 1>is how the show started, by the way. This is
<v Speaker 1>how the show technically opened. This was after Michael Cole
<v Speaker 1>already came on the air. It was Michael Cole and
<v Speaker 1>Wade Barrett on commentary. They already came on the air
<v Speaker 1>with Michael Cole informing us that, Tonight's show is brought
<v Speaker 1>to you by Minute Maid. Bring the juice. So we
<v Speaker 1>went from Minute Maid to Arby's, or was it Arby's?
<v Speaker 1>I think it was Minute Maid to Arby's, right? Not
<v Speaker 1>Arby's to Minute Maid. These are the important questions here
<v Speaker 1>at the beginning of a WWE show. What I'm trying
<v Speaker 1>to recall, which sponsor came first? You know I'm watching
<v Speaker 1>WWE and not some other product. But the main card opened...
<v Speaker 1>I guess I won't be getting that Arby's sponsorship. Now,
<v Speaker 1>to be fair, I've never tried their steak nuggets before.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe some of you have. If you recommend it, I
<v Speaker 1>don't even know where there's an Arby's around me. I
<v Speaker 1>don't even think there's an Arby's around here. But if
<v Speaker 1>you say that they're good, I might have to find
<v Speaker 1>where there's an Arby's and go check it out. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>Arby's meat nuggets was the first thing that we heard
<v Speaker 1>about on this show here. Maybe what you should do
<v Speaker 1>is you should have the Arby's Steak Nuggets and wash
<v Speaker 1>it down with some Minute Maid. They could start to
<v Speaker 1>pool their sponsors together. I got Netflix on the brain.
<v Speaker 1>I'm talking about censorship. Anyway, main card opened with Quavo
<v Speaker 1>narrating the opening video. And then he walked out with
<v Speaker 1>a shopping cart full of $ 100 bills and he performed.
<v Speaker 1>this concert that they had promoted, that he was going
<v Speaker 1>to perform an unreleased track off of his new album.
<v Speaker 1>I guess technically he did. This went better than expected
<v Speaker 1>because whatever singing he did, they kept it to a minimum.
<v Speaker 1>It wasn't like he did a full set or anything
<v Speaker 1>like that. He did kind of part of whatever this
<v Speaker 1>unreleased song is, and then it was over. So at
<v Speaker 1>least they kept it brief. Now you'll notice, since I
<v Speaker 1>started talking about the main card, I've talked about everything
<v Speaker 1>except the wrestling so far. Hence why I said it
<v Speaker 1>felt like a Raw or a SmackDown episode. Then they
<v Speaker 1>show Lil Yachty. He was in the back, hanging out
<v Speaker 1>with Trick Williams and hanging out with his entourage. Lilian
<v Speaker 1>Garcia introduced Yachty out to the ring with said entourage.
<v Speaker 1>Trick stayed in the back. Corbin then drove his motorcycle
<v Speaker 1>out onto the stage. So the first 10 minutes of
<v Speaker 1>the show was a complete and total waste of time.
<v Speaker 1>Once they were inside the ring, Corbin got on the mic.
<v Speaker 1>And he gave Yachty one last chance to back out
<v Speaker 1>of the match. Yachty, instead, blasted him in the head
<v Speaker 1>with the microphone and the referee called for the opening bell.
<v Speaker 1>And they had the clock up on the screen. They
<v Speaker 1>had the clock up also. They had the LED ring posts.
<v Speaker 1>And they had the clock on the ring posts. So
<v Speaker 1>we could keep track of exactly how much time was
<v Speaker 1>left here in this five-minute beat-the-clock challenge. So Corbin, he
<v Speaker 1>came up bleeding from the ear. I assume that was
<v Speaker 1>from the microphone shot. Corbin had control though until Yachty
<v Speaker 1>whacked him a few times. with his trick stick outside.
<v Speaker 1>Later on, Yachty's entourage, they ended up in the ring,
<v Speaker 1>and they ate a deep six in an end of days.
<v Speaker 1>Yachty did pull off a Hurricane Rana, then he hit
<v Speaker 1>a crossbody. He's been training. I think he's been training
<v Speaker 1>at the dungeon. And... Again, training for a full match,
<v Speaker 1>not exactly. He just needed enough basic training to get
<v Speaker 1>through these five minutes. So he pulled off a hurricane run.
<v Speaker 1>And then he did a crossbody, which did not look
<v Speaker 1>as good as the hurricane run. Got a near fall
<v Speaker 1>out of it. Now we have less than two minutes
<v Speaker 1>to go. Yachty charged at Corbin, but he got laid
<v Speaker 1>out with the end of days. So the match was over.
<v Speaker 1>But Corbin, the dumb heel that he is, has to
<v Speaker 1>play with his food. Oh, I got plenty of time left, right?
<v Speaker 1>He's looking up at the clock. I'm going to have
<v Speaker 1>some fun with this. So he doesn't go for the pin.
<v Speaker 1>So he beat on him and then he hit another
<v Speaker 1>end of days. And again, he didn't cover because he
<v Speaker 1>had about a minute or maybe a little over a
<v Speaker 1>minute left to play with. So he goes outside. He
<v Speaker 1>grabs a table from under the ring. He sets it
<v Speaker 1>up in the ring. And he was going for a superplex.
<v Speaker 1>So he places Yachty down. On the top row, yes. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>Blooney on. I always talk about dumb baby face syndrome,
<v Speaker 1>which we'll get to in the main event. But now
<v Speaker 1>I guess we have dumb heel syndrome. See? It is
<v Speaker 1>not limited to just men or women, good people or
<v Speaker 1>bad people. Anybody could be afflicted with this terrible illness.
<v Speaker 1>This was definitely an example of dumb heel syndrome here.
<v Speaker 1>So he wanted a superplex. He places him on the top.
<v Speaker 1>He goes to climb up after him. Yachty then catches
<v Speaker 1>him with a low blow. And Corbin very slowly falls
<v Speaker 1>to the mat as the clock counts down and expires.
<v Speaker 1>Yachty has survived. That's all he had to do. He
<v Speaker 1>didn't have to win. He just had to survive. And
<v Speaker 1>so he did. Which meant that we were going to
<v Speaker 1>get a United States Championship match here. But not before
<v Speaker 1>Corbin grabbed him off the top and chokeslammed him through
<v Speaker 1>the table in the ring. This was not great. This
<v Speaker 1>was not great. But it didn't drag. They kept it
<v Speaker 1>to five minutes. How bad could it be at five
<v Speaker 1>minutes when there's an urgency? Just by the very nature
<v Speaker 1>of this match, there was an urgency to it, right?
<v Speaker 1>They weren't working the holds. They weren't working body parts.
<v Speaker 1>Not that Yachty is in a position to be able
<v Speaker 1>to do any of that. So... It can only be
<v Speaker 1>so horrible. And it wasn't, I wouldn't say it was horrible,
<v Speaker 1>but it wasn't good either. It accomplished what it needed
<v Speaker 1>to accomplish because it got us to the match that
<v Speaker 1>actually mattered. Trick got his full entrance while Yachty was
<v Speaker 1>laying in the rubble of the table in the ring.
<v Speaker 1>He was in no great rush to get to the ring.
<v Speaker 1>So Yachty ended up outside. The match proceeded. Flapjack by Trick.
<v Speaker 1>Trick slapped to the jaw. Then he was stomping a
<v Speaker 1>mud hole in him. Hit a Death Valley driver. Only
<v Speaker 1>got a two count out of it. Corbin knocked Trick
<v Speaker 1>off the apron, and he went face-first into the announce desk.
<v Speaker 1>So Corbin headed outside. Yachty, we could still see he
<v Speaker 1>was laid out on the ground outside. E-Web says, at
<v Speaker 1>five minutes, it could have been a SummerSlam match. That's true.
<v Speaker 1>Could have been a WrestleMania match on night one this year. Remember,
<v Speaker 1>Liv and Stephanie only got, what, seven minutes? Six, seven minutes? Six, seven,
<v Speaker 1>something like that? So anyway, they wound up back inside.
<v Speaker 1>Corbin yelled at him, you wanted this. You got it.
<v Speaker 1>So then they collided in the center of the ring.
<v Speaker 1>We got a double down on a double clothesline spot.
<v Speaker 1>They got up. Corbin gave him a choke slam for
<v Speaker 1>a near fall. Trick came back with a bookend, but
<v Speaker 1>then Corbin downed him with a deep six for a
<v Speaker 1>close near fall. I always rave about the blue thunder bombs.
<v Speaker 1>I think it's just a cool move. The deep six
<v Speaker 1>is pretty good, too. Especially if he's in there with
<v Speaker 1>a guy that's smaller than him. And they can get
<v Speaker 1>a few different revolutions around. I just think it always
<v Speaker 1>looks good. I don't mean he's not going to use
<v Speaker 1>it as a finish, obviously. But if he wanted to,
<v Speaker 1>he could. Problem is, he never does. So all of
<v Speaker 1>a sudden, he's not going to start using it as
<v Speaker 1>a finish. Corbin went outside. He grabbed the United States Championship.
<v Speaker 1>And he was going to bring it inside with him. Now,
<v Speaker 1>he's used that belt twice before. The first two wins
<v Speaker 1>he got over Trick, he hit him in the head
<v Speaker 1>with the belt. So he goes to bring it in. Yachty, though,
<v Speaker 1>has come to. And he reaches up and he grabs
<v Speaker 1>the other end of the belt. And now a tug
<v Speaker 1>of war ensues. Corbin drags Yachty into the ring, who
<v Speaker 1>refused to let go. Finally, Corbin yanked the belt away
<v Speaker 1>from him. But when he did so and he turned around,
<v Speaker 1>he ate a cyclone kick from Trick. And Trick covered. Corbin, though,
<v Speaker 1>still kicked out. So now referee Ryan Tran, he goes
<v Speaker 1>over to Yachty. And he's trying to get him out
<v Speaker 1>of the ring. Not seeing that Corbin has picked the
<v Speaker 1>belt back up. Now this is terrible officiating here because
<v Speaker 1>the referee clearly saw the belt was brought into the ring.
<v Speaker 1>And as soon as the belt got dropped, he should
<v Speaker 1>have removed the belt from the ring. So that right
<v Speaker 1>there is terrible officiating. I will say that. So he
<v Speaker 1>doesn't see what's going on. Corbin picks the belt back
<v Speaker 1>up and he clobbers Trick in the head with the championship.
<v Speaker 1>And they wanted you to think that he was about
<v Speaker 1>to three-peat the exact same way he won the first
<v Speaker 1>two times. This is an easy near fall to get
<v Speaker 1>a great reaction out of the crowd. And it did.
<v Speaker 1>It worked. Because he covered him and Trick kicked out.
<v Speaker 1>Corbin went for the end of days. Trick, though, flipped
<v Speaker 1>out of it and then connected on the Trick shot
<v Speaker 1>knee to regain the championship. This was, I will say this,
<v Speaker 1>this was the best of the trio of matches that
<v Speaker 1>they have had so far. Which, I mean, is what
<v Speaker 1>you would hope for, given that this was obviously the
<v Speaker 1>payoff match. And we got the right outcomes. I didn't
<v Speaker 1>think the match was anything special. I'm not going to
<v Speaker 1>sit here and rave, oh my God, this was so
<v Speaker 1>much better. It was better than the first two, but
<v Speaker 1>that's not really saying a whole lot. I mean, the
<v Speaker 1>first two matches I thought were fairly basic. This was
<v Speaker 1>better than basic, but again, it wasn't anything terribly special.
<v Speaker 1>But look, the fans were into the near falls. They
<v Speaker 1>were cheering for Trick. So it was a success, right?
<v Speaker 1>It was a success on that level. They did the
<v Speaker 1>thing with Yachty. They got to this match. And then
<v Speaker 1>during the match, the fans were solidly behind Trick, and
<v Speaker 1>they were very happy to see him regain the belt.
<v Speaker 1>And that's really all you can ask for. The thing
<v Speaker 1>I liked the most was Trick countering out of the
<v Speaker 1>end of days instead of having him kick out of
<v Speaker 1>the end of days, which they could have easily done.
<v Speaker 1>And I'm glad that it seems like they're still protecting
<v Speaker 1>that move. Maybe Corbin is advocating for it, but good. Good,
<v Speaker 1>because we need more finishing moves to be protected. So
<v Speaker 1>he flipped out of it. He didn't get dropped and
<v Speaker 1>then kicked out of it. That I liked. I will
<v Speaker 1>say that. So after a long commercial break, we come back.
<v Speaker 1>Paul Heyman is standing in the middle of the ring
<v Speaker 1>to tell us that the next match here will determine
<v Speaker 1>who is the future of WWE. I'm going to say no.
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to say this match is not going to
<v Speaker 1>decide anything of that nature. First, he introduces the hardest-hitting
<v Speaker 1>athlete in WWE, the All-American from Kennesaw State University, Braun Breaker.
<v Speaker 1>I forgot where I was for a second. I thought
<v Speaker 1>he was, I thought it was like, what's he going
<v Speaker 1>to say? He's back already? Out comes Braun Breaker. I'm
<v Speaker 1>convinced the only reason they even put the tag team
<v Speaker 1>titles on him in theory is because they just want
<v Speaker 1>Breaker to walk around with a belt around his waist.
<v Speaker 1>That's literally the only reason. Then he introduced the bringer
<v Speaker 1>of war, the ruler, Obafemi. And he strutted down to
<v Speaker 1>the ring. So the two of them, they were testing
<v Speaker 1>each other out to start. And Oba was winning that battle.
<v Speaker 1>So Breaker rolled out of the ring to regroup. Oba
<v Speaker 1>followed him out and then lifted him up onto his shoulder.
<v Speaker 1>He's going to go for a power slam. Bron, though,
<v Speaker 1>slipped out and shoved Oba face-first into the ring post.
<v Speaker 1>And then as Breaker came in for another attack, Oba
<v Speaker 1>chopped the soul out of this man. The announcers, I
<v Speaker 1>think Michael Cole lost his shit. And, like, way oversold.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, oversold like it was a bad thing. He
<v Speaker 1>just was like, holy shit, without actually saying it. It
<v Speaker 1>sounded like a gunshot went off. It sounded like a
<v Speaker 1>shotgun blast. And Oba went to go clear off the
<v Speaker 1>announce desk at this point. That gave Breaker the time
<v Speaker 1>to not only recover, but then also hit that flying
<v Speaker 1>clothesline that he does from the apron. And it sent
<v Speaker 1>both men hurtling over the desk to the floor. Back
<v Speaker 1>in the ring, Breaker built up some speed for the
<v Speaker 1>big running clothesline. Oba, though, he made a comeback. Breaker
<v Speaker 1>dropped him with a German for a near fall. Again,
<v Speaker 1>Oba made a comeback. He hit Snake Eyes and then
<v Speaker 1>followed that with a big boot. Came back with a
<v Speaker 1>series of running uppercuts in the corner, followed by a chokeslam,
<v Speaker 1>and then Oba ended up outside. And Breaker sees this.
<v Speaker 1>And he rolls out on the opposite side. And he's
<v Speaker 1>like stalking his prey. And he's looking for the running spear,
<v Speaker 1>but when he turned the corner, he got met with
<v Speaker 1>this just devastating uppercut. So Q awestruck. Theory. Here comes
<v Speaker 1>the fuckery in this match. Austin Theory appears only to
<v Speaker 1>get beeled up into the air and then crash lands
<v Speaker 1>through the announce desk. That looked great. He just flipped
<v Speaker 1>him up in the air and he landed on the table.
<v Speaker 1>And with these tables now, they reinforce them. You never
<v Speaker 1>know if they're going to break or not. You didn't
<v Speaker 1>have to worry about that here. So that takes out
<v Speaker 1>Austin Theory. But then in comes Braun Breaker out of
<v Speaker 1>nowhere with a spear on the floor. Cuts him in half.
<v Speaker 1>He puts Oba back in the ring. He connects with
<v Speaker 1>the running super spear. But Oba kicks out. Now here
<v Speaker 1>comes Logan Paul. And they gave him music. Theory just came,
<v Speaker 1>I think, out of the crowd. Logan got music. He's
<v Speaker 1>got his arm still in the brace from the torn tricep.
<v Speaker 1>So he comes down to the ring. He's got his
<v Speaker 1>brass knucks, right? He's going to pass these brass knucks
<v Speaker 1>along to Braun Breaker. Referee sees him coming out, though.
<v Speaker 1>Immediately ejects him. And as that's happening out on the
<v Speaker 1>other side of the ring, Maxine Dupree, she hands Breaker
<v Speaker 1>a different set of brass knucks. Passes them along to
<v Speaker 1>him very covertly. When Breaker went to go use them, though,
<v Speaker 1>he missed. And he got scooped up and he got
<v Speaker 1>beeled across the ring. And then at that point, it
<v Speaker 1>looked like Oba was getting ready to set up for
<v Speaker 1>the fall from grace. And this is where I'm waiting
<v Speaker 1>to see, okay, where is he at? Where is he
<v Speaker 1>coming from? Because I knew he was coming. It was
<v Speaker 1>only a matter of, does he come from behind? Do
<v Speaker 1>they hit music? Does he come from under the ring?
<v Speaker 1>How is this going to work? And sure enough, you
<v Speaker 1>hear a commotion in the crowd. And who runs in?
<v Speaker 1>but big Bronson Reed, not looking quite as big as
<v Speaker 1>he used to be looking about half the size that
<v Speaker 1>he used to be still a big boy. But if
<v Speaker 1>you go back and look at Bronson Reed, when he
<v Speaker 1>was in NXT, if you look at Bronson Reed, when
<v Speaker 1>he was on the main roster the first time, or
<v Speaker 1>even when he came back from the ankle injury after,
<v Speaker 1>you know, he shattered his, his foot. I think of
<v Speaker 1>the foot shattered the foot in the war games match.
<v Speaker 1>He ain't never looked like this before. And I said
<v Speaker 1>this at the beginning, like legitimately when he came out,
<v Speaker 1>I'm looking at him going, he looks like if Jimmy
<v Speaker 1>Uso bulked up. That's what he looked like. But he's
<v Speaker 1>in fantastic shape and good for him. He clearly put
<v Speaker 1>the work in and wanted to come back better than
<v Speaker 1>he was the last time we saw him. So he
<v Speaker 1>gets in the ring and he attacks Oba from behind
<v Speaker 1>with a steel chair for the disqualification. After wearing Oba
<v Speaker 1>out with the chair for a little bit, he landed
<v Speaker 1>a running senton. Then he headed up top and he
<v Speaker 1>came off the top with a tsunami splash. Now, the
<v Speaker 1>tsunami splash looked even more devastating when he was, you know,
<v Speaker 1>350 or 400. He wasn't 400, but whatever. Back in
<v Speaker 1>the day, like you go back 30, 40 years ago
<v Speaker 1>in WWE, they would have built him to fucking 425 pounds.
<v Speaker 1>He was a big guy. Even now, though. coming off
<v Speaker 1>the top of the splash. He makes it look devastating.
<v Speaker 1>It's a great finish. I mean, it's a splash, right?
<v Speaker 1>But it's just the way he lands it, it looks
<v Speaker 1>like a devastating maneuver, even though he is smaller now
<v Speaker 1>than he was before. So Reed then holds Oba up
<v Speaker 1>while Breaker runs the ropes. He spears him. Reed hit
<v Speaker 1>Oba with two more tsunamis. Now officials are coming. I
<v Speaker 1>think Adam Pierce was out there, but a bunch of
<v Speaker 1>officials came out. They're trying to get them to stop
<v Speaker 1>the mayhem. Reed hits another tsunami. And then another. And
<v Speaker 1>then there was one more spear from Braun Breaker. And
<v Speaker 1>then yet another tsunami. So they left this man for
<v Speaker 1>dead at the end of all this, which is kind
<v Speaker 1>of what you have to do. Because again, Oba is
<v Speaker 1>a big guy. Oba is the guy who slayed the beast.
<v Speaker 1>It takes more than what you would do to your
<v Speaker 1>average wrestler to put this guy down. You got to
<v Speaker 1>do it. You got to hit him with fucking four spears.
<v Speaker 1>You got to hit him with five or six tsunamis.
<v Speaker 1>It's like spamming moves in a video game, right, to
<v Speaker 1>beat the final boss. That's what you need to do.
<v Speaker 1>And they left him laying in the vision, or at
<v Speaker 1>least Breaker and Reed, they were left standing here at
<v Speaker 1>the end of this. The match itself, I was looking
<v Speaker 1>forward to this match because when I saw that there
<v Speaker 1>was the potential for them to wrestle in the King
<v Speaker 1>of the Ring tournament, I was really hoping that they
<v Speaker 1>would just take the shot. You know what I mean?
<v Speaker 1>I know we're probably not going to get a clean finish,
<v Speaker 1>and it's not going to go terribly long, but there's
<v Speaker 1>no harm in it. And they avoided doing it. At
<v Speaker 1>that point, I'm like, all right, maybe they're waiting until fucking,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, probably not Mania, because I would imagine
<v Speaker 1>Oba's going to be wrestling for the belt, but they're
<v Speaker 1>just too afraid to do it right now. So when
<v Speaker 1>I heard they were doing it on this show, I said, okay, good.
<v Speaker 1>They're not making us wait. And I genuinely wanted to
<v Speaker 1>see what this match would look like. You know, you
<v Speaker 1>have two younger guys who they absolutely are building things around,
<v Speaker 1>more so Oba than Braun. But Braun has been sort
<v Speaker 1>of their pet project now for a few years. What
<v Speaker 1>is this match going to look like? Are they going
<v Speaker 1>to bring out the best in each other? Are they
<v Speaker 1>going to go out there, balls to the walls? It's
<v Speaker 1>going to be almost like, you know, almost like the
<v Speaker 1>matches that Oba had with Brock, where it's just smash
<v Speaker 1>mouth and they're breaking tables and they're brawling all over
<v Speaker 1>the place. It's going to be more of a wrestling match.
<v Speaker 1>And what we got between these two, for the most part,
<v Speaker 1>it was a wrestling match. They didn't do anything too crazy.
<v Speaker 1>I thought it was solid. It just didn't have that
<v Speaker 1>big match feel that I thought it would. It didn't
<v Speaker 1>get the live reaction from the crowd that I thought
<v Speaker 1>it would. Maybe in my mind it was a bigger
<v Speaker 1>deal than it really is. Maybe this will be a
<v Speaker 1>much bigger deal a year from now, two years from now.
<v Speaker 1>Because I have every belief that these two will be.
<v Speaker 1>in WrestleMania main events. Not just against each other, but
<v Speaker 1>against other people. So we may look back on this
<v Speaker 1>in a couple of years, and it's going to be
<v Speaker 1>a much bigger deal then. It didn't feel like that here.
<v Speaker 1>This did not feel like, oh, this is the big
<v Speaker 1>battle for the future of WWE. Who's going to be
<v Speaker 1>the guy? It just didn't really come off that way
<v Speaker 1>to me. But you had to see that finish coming
<v Speaker 1>with Reed's return. Again, I was thinking that maybe they
<v Speaker 1>would have Breaker go over They wanted to protect him.
<v Speaker 1>They did the disqualification. You know, it's fine. At the
<v Speaker 1>end of the day, more or less, it's the same thing.
<v Speaker 1>Reed's injuries, he's had a bunch of injuries in his career.
<v Speaker 1>I mentioned the shattered foot coming off the top of
<v Speaker 1>the cage. I know he had, I think, some other
<v Speaker 1>injuries before that, but then this one earlier this year,
<v Speaker 1>which came at a terrible time because they were heading
<v Speaker 1>into WrestleMania, he obviously took his rehab very seriously. And
<v Speaker 1>my hope is that as long as he can stay healthy,
<v Speaker 1>they will give him the chance to go as far
<v Speaker 1>as he can take himself. And they don't look at
<v Speaker 1>him and go, well, we don't see him in the
<v Speaker 1>same light as we see Bron Breaker. Maybe Breaker's younger
<v Speaker 1>or he's the picture of what it is that they're
<v Speaker 1>looking for. Bronson Reed is the real deal. And so
<v Speaker 1>long as his body cooperates, there's no reason to think
<v Speaker 1>that he can't be in a position himself one day
<v Speaker 1>where he can be a world heavyweight champion in this company.
<v Speaker 1>It's not going to happen with the vision. But hopefully
<v Speaker 1>he can get there, you know, because he's really, really good.
<v Speaker 1>And I know he's very hungry and driven. If you've
<v Speaker 1>ever listened to him, you know, when he does these
<v Speaker 1>interviews and stuff. And like I said, he's in the
<v Speaker 1>best shape of his life. I hope he gets that chance.
<v Speaker 1>And if he gets that chance and he succeeds, it's
<v Speaker 1>another big main event player that they have available to
<v Speaker 1>them on the shows. Now, I'm not talking like upper
<v Speaker 1>mid card. I'm talking main fucking event. You know, he
<v Speaker 1>has that potential. And now Obafemi has a couple of
<v Speaker 1>different people that he can work with over these next
<v Speaker 1>few months. I am not thrilled about Breaker and Reed
<v Speaker 1>still being attached to this loser crew. I think that
<v Speaker 1>the sooner they shed the dead weight, the better off
<v Speaker 1>they'll be. But for now, it's good to have Bronson
<v Speaker 1>Reed back. After this, we had a six-woman tag team match.
<v Speaker 1>Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and Tatum Paxley. taking on Jade Cargill, Meechan,
<v Speaker 1>and B-Fab. After going on a run of her own, Tatum,
<v Speaker 1>she tagged in Alexa, who worked over the heels for
<v Speaker 1>a little bit, but then they blocked her from tagging
<v Speaker 1>in Charlotte. She finally did. Flair went to work. Jade
<v Speaker 1>tagged in, so we got some back and forth between
<v Speaker 1>Jade and Charlotte. She booted Charlotte in the face, and
<v Speaker 1>then she got her up for the torture rack bomb
<v Speaker 1>for an earful that I believe Paxley broke up. There
<v Speaker 1>was a jaded attempt. Flair countered into a roll-up for
<v Speaker 1>a near fall of her own. Meechan got in, but
<v Speaker 1>she took a fall-away slam, and then Charlotte landed a
<v Speaker 1>moonsault onto Jade and Meechan, who were laid flat on
<v Speaker 1>the mat. Bliss entered the ring, but B-Fab pulled her
<v Speaker 1>out to the floor. So it came down to Charlotte
<v Speaker 1>and Tatum. They were going for stereo figure-four leg locks,
<v Speaker 1>or maybe they were going to transition into figure-eights. We'll
<v Speaker 1>never know. But they were going for figure-fours. Charlotte un-Jade.
<v Speaker 1>and Tatum on BFAB. So Charlotte goes and starts her move.
<v Speaker 1>Tatum does the same, but BFAB kicks Tatum into Charlotte,
<v Speaker 1>and they bonk heads. And that allowed Cargill to drop
<v Speaker 1>Charlotte with a jaded and pin her to win the
<v Speaker 1>match for the baddies. I had the babyfaces winning this
<v Speaker 1>in my predictions, but if they're going to tell the
<v Speaker 1>dissension story between Charlotte and Tatum, which it seems like
<v Speaker 1>they are, Then this finish makes sense. And also, I
<v Speaker 1>know many of you may not want to see it,
<v Speaker 1>but if they want to get another singles match out
<v Speaker 1>of Charlotte. and Jade, Jade and her crew going over
<v Speaker 1>also made sense. This was the weakest thing on the show.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not even counting the pre-show. I'm just talking about
<v Speaker 1>the main card. In terms of the actual wrestling matches,
<v Speaker 1>this was the weakest thing on the entire show. It
<v Speaker 1>wasn't bad. It wasn't awful or anything, but it was
<v Speaker 1>the weakest thing on the cards. And after one last
<v Speaker 1>long ad break, it was time for the main event. Already,
<v Speaker 1>we're up to the main event. It was a rematch
<v Speaker 1>from WrestleMania this year between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. Now,
<v Speaker 1>earlier at the beginning of the show, I believe it was,
<v Speaker 1>it wasn't Kathy Kelly. It was, oh God, who was it?
<v Speaker 1>Jackie Redmond. I think they had Jackie Redmond. And she
<v Speaker 1>made the announcement that Cody and Randy had been segregated
<v Speaker 1>to their respective tour buses, and they were ordered to
<v Speaker 1>remain on their tour buses for the entire day to
<v Speaker 1>avoid any sort of incident. They wanted to maintain order
<v Speaker 1>between them, so I guess they respected what they were
<v Speaker 1>told to do, and they were staying on their buses
<v Speaker 1>up until this main event. Cody entered first here in
<v Speaker 1>his hometown of Atlanta. He got a good reaction. Nothing overwhelming,
<v Speaker 1>but he got a positive reaction. Randy Orton's music hit,
<v Speaker 1>and Cody's in the ring, and he's waiting, and he's waiting,
<v Speaker 1>and they have the camera focused on Cody, and he's
<v Speaker 1>focused on the aisle, which kind of telegraphs what's about
<v Speaker 1>to happen. Sure enough, Randy Orton, he tries to slither
<v Speaker 1>in behind him, but Cody, he turns around, and he
<v Speaker 1>catches him, and Orton slithers right back out. Cody follows
<v Speaker 1>him out to the floor, and they took the fight
<v Speaker 1>into the crowd right off the bat. Now, there was
<v Speaker 1>no bell. The match is still not officially underway yet
<v Speaker 1>at this point. So eventually they fight back down to ringside.
<v Speaker 1>Orton sends Cody into the ring steps. And then Orton
<v Speaker 1>looks up, and who does he find in the front row?
<v Speaker 1>Mama Rhodes is in the front row. And next to
<v Speaker 1>Mama Rhodes is Brandi Rhodes, who looks like she's about
<v Speaker 1>to throw down with Randy Orton. Now, I looked at
<v Speaker 1>this and I said, angle alert. That's the first thing
<v Speaker 1>that goes off in my brain, my wrestling brain here.
<v Speaker 1>Angle alert. They're showing us that Cody, his wife and
<v Speaker 1>mom are in the front row. There's a reason for this.
<v Speaker 1>They're going to be involved in some way, which I
<v Speaker 1>guess technically they were. I was actually expecting them to
<v Speaker 1>do more. I thought, look, if they really want to
<v Speaker 1>put heat on this and they're going to extend this
<v Speaker 1>out to another match, I thought that when all was
<v Speaker 1>said and done, they might have Randy Orton give Brandy
<v Speaker 1>an RKO. I actually thought that's how they were going
<v Speaker 1>to go off the air. I thought that they were
<v Speaker 1>going to tease it and then have him drop her
<v Speaker 1>with an RKO. They didn't do that, although Brandy did
<v Speaker 1>kind of get involved a little bit later on. So
<v Speaker 1>Orton quickly got back inside, and they rang the bell
<v Speaker 1>to signal the start of the match. Cody, though, caught
<v Speaker 1>him with a Cody cutter. And then he got a
<v Speaker 1>figure four leg lock applied. After letting it go, he
<v Speaker 1>set up for and Orton-esque draping DDT. Randy, though, hung
<v Speaker 1>him over the top rope. So Orton then went on
<v Speaker 1>offense for a while and slowed things down. Cody, though,
<v Speaker 1>he clotheslined him out to the floor. Cody followed him out.
<v Speaker 1>He got thumbed in the eye. So they wound up
<v Speaker 1>back in the ring. Cody got the 10 punches in
<v Speaker 1>the corner. Then it was right back out to the floor,
<v Speaker 1>and Orton dropped him on top of the announce desk,
<v Speaker 1>not once, but twice. Then Orton saunters on over by Brandy.
<v Speaker 1>And I'm like, here we go. And he obviously, he
<v Speaker 1>must have mouthed off to her in some way. She
<v Speaker 1>splashed a drink in his face. I don't know what
<v Speaker 1>it was. Maybe it was Minute Maid, since they were
<v Speaker 1>the sponsor of the show. I know it wasn't water,
<v Speaker 1>whatever it was. It looked yellow. I don't know. Maybe
<v Speaker 1>she peed in a cup and splashed it in his face.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, look, if somebody had insulted me, I might,
<v Speaker 1>to get back at them, I might do that. Right?
<v Speaker 1>Piss in a cup, throw it in their face. Whatever
<v Speaker 1>it was. My apologies to the Minute Maid people. if
<v Speaker 1>it was minute made, but that's kind of what it
<v Speaker 1>looked like to me. So she splashes him in the
<v Speaker 1>face with this drink and he stumbles back into the ring.
<v Speaker 1>Cody catches him with a snap power slam. And then
<v Speaker 1>he catches him with a disaster kick. And here comes
<v Speaker 1>the crossroads. Orton though, he broke free. He downed him
<v Speaker 1>with a snap power slam of his own. So Orton
<v Speaker 1>hits the draping DDT. And now Orton is hearing the voices.
<v Speaker 1>You know what the voices are that he's hearing? He's
<v Speaker 1>hearing people cheering for him. He's hearing people chant his name.
<v Speaker 1>And it was very funny because, like, on commentary, Wade Barrett,
<v Speaker 1>he was like, oh, he hears the boos. And I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>what boos might you be referring to, Wade? You and
<v Speaker 1>I are obviously listening to two different shows. It might
<v Speaker 1>say that in the script. But what I hear, the
<v Speaker 1>majority of the people in the building here in Cody's
<v Speaker 1>hometown were very much behind Randy Orton at this point.
<v Speaker 1>And they were cheering him like he was the baby face.
<v Speaker 1>So now he's setting up for the RKO. Cody, though,
<v Speaker 1>counters into a crossroads and he covers. Orton kicks out. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>they meant Boo Burns. Boo Burns. I don't know, man.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know what Wade Barrett was listening to. He
<v Speaker 1>meant booze with a Z. That's possible. That's very possible.
<v Speaker 1>He couldn't wait to get to the bar. Wade Barrett
<v Speaker 1>was hearing the voices. It was the barkeep saying, do
<v Speaker 1>you want ice with that? You want to open a tab? Anyway,
<v Speaker 1>he kicked out of the crossroads. So Cody went for
<v Speaker 1>a Cody cutter. That got foiled. Orton went for the RKO. Cody, though,
<v Speaker 1>turned it into a backslide for a two count. He
<v Speaker 1>turned into Willow Nightingale there for a second. So there
<v Speaker 1>was another RKO attempt. Cody, though, sent him forward into
<v Speaker 1>Charles Robinson, but he put on the brakes, so he
<v Speaker 1>didn't squash the referee in the corner. But in comes
<v Speaker 1>Cody Rhodes, Orton moves, and Cody crushes Lil' Natch in
<v Speaker 1>the corner. And now Orton drops Cody with an RKO,
<v Speaker 1>because of course he does. And naturally, there is no referee.
<v Speaker 1>So therefore, there can be no count. So now Orton
<v Speaker 1>is mulling over what his next move is going to be.
<v Speaker 1>And he notices that Cody is in prime position. So
<v Speaker 1>Orton backs up into the corner, and we're about to
<v Speaker 1>get a repeat of WrestleMania. He's going to go for
<v Speaker 1>the punt kick. And he's setting up for it. Cody, though, sidesteps,
<v Speaker 1>and then he hits the crossroads. Orton slowly rolls out
<v Speaker 1>to the floor. Now, there's no referee to count the
<v Speaker 1>fall anyway, so it doesn't matter. Cody decides to hit
<v Speaker 1>a suicide dive. He comes flying through the ropes. He
<v Speaker 1>connects on the dive. Problem is Charles Robinson had gotten
<v Speaker 1>back to his feet and he was standing directly behind
<v Speaker 1>Randy Orton. So when Cody hit Orton with the suicide dive,
<v Speaker 1>it knocked Orton backwards into Robinson who bounced off the
<v Speaker 1>barricade and fell right back down to the floor. So
<v Speaker 1>poor little nature. He was being abused here in this match.
<v Speaker 1>Cody now sends Orton into the ring post, not once,
<v Speaker 1>not twice, but three times. Cody is unloading on him.
<v Speaker 1>He's basically got him leaned over the announce desk, and
<v Speaker 1>he is firing away right-hand shots. Raining blows down upon
<v Speaker 1>this man. He's yelling at him. He's taking out all
<v Speaker 1>of his frustration. Because remember, it's been weeks of no physicality.
<v Speaker 1>You can't touch him. You can't touch him. And now
<v Speaker 1>he's got this guy right in front of him, and
<v Speaker 1>there's no referee. So he can do whatever the fuck
<v Speaker 1>he wants to do. So he's punching away. Cody goes over,
<v Speaker 1>he grabs the ring steps, and then he bounces them
<v Speaker 1>off of Orton's face. And they keep the camera on
<v Speaker 1>Cody here for a little bit. When they cut back
<v Speaker 1>to Orton, Orton is busted open. Michael Cole said it
<v Speaker 1>looked like he was bleeding from the ear. It did
<v Speaker 1>actually look like he was bleeding from the ear. And
<v Speaker 1>he's continuing to pound away on Orton. Good thing this
<v Speaker 1>isn't on Netflix. As soon as I saw the blood,
<v Speaker 1>I immediately thought of Netflix. I don't think this is
<v Speaker 1>on Netflix, right? Internationally, it's on YouTube, I believe. I
<v Speaker 1>know SmackDown internationally is on Netflix. But thankfully, don't have
<v Speaker 1>to worry about that. So Michael Cole says that the
<v Speaker 1>blood is coming from Orton's ear, as I said. They
<v Speaker 1>end up back in the ring. Orton is just staggering around,
<v Speaker 1>a bloody mess. And Cody, in one leap, jumps up
<v Speaker 1>to the top and comes off with a super Cody cutter.
<v Speaker 1>So now, there's still no ref. Orton can... Hardly stand up.
<v Speaker 1>But he finally does, and Cody nails another crossroads. And
<v Speaker 1>then back up, and another one. And the crowd is,
<v Speaker 1>I noted in my notes here, pretty mild for all
<v Speaker 1>of this. Like, this is not getting much of a reaction. Like,
<v Speaker 1>you hear just kind of this static crowd noise, where
<v Speaker 1>they're not really up or down one way or the other.
<v Speaker 1>They're kind of nonplussed by all this. Orton, though, is really... bleeding,
<v Speaker 1>or at least the blood is all over his face now,
<v Speaker 1>so visually it looks great. He picks him up for
<v Speaker 1>a third Crossroads, but he just throws him down. And
<v Speaker 1>I'm just thinking to myself, where the fuck is Charles Robinson?
<v Speaker 1>Because at this point, like, so much time has elapsed,
<v Speaker 1>and he's still not back yet now the fans are
<v Speaker 1>actually chanting for Randy they're chanting for Randy Orton and
<v Speaker 1>I was reminded of Wrestlemania this year where they came
<v Speaker 1>into the show and clearly Orton was the heel that's
<v Speaker 1>why part of the reason anyway why they put Pat
<v Speaker 1>McAfee with him that was designed for Orton to be
<v Speaker 1>the heel And if you remember how that match went
<v Speaker 1>at WrestleMania, what happened? Like 85% of the match was
<v Speaker 1>Orton selling the back. He was fighting from underneath, selling
<v Speaker 1>an injury like a fucking baby face. And now I
<v Speaker 1>was like momentarily transported back to that because now I'm
<v Speaker 1>watching this and the fans are chanting for Randy. Randy's
<v Speaker 1>a bloody mess. He's also trying to like fight back here.
<v Speaker 1>Cody is being a little more aggressive than normally he
<v Speaker 1>would be. And he's coming off very heelish, even though
<v Speaker 1>he has every right to be pissed off at this guy.
<v Speaker 1>And Orton is coming off as more of the baby face.
<v Speaker 1>It felt like WrestleMania, you know, all over again. Now
<v Speaker 1>Orton is on his hands and knees and Cody backs
<v Speaker 1>into the corner. And he is going to set up
<v Speaker 1>for a punt kick of his own. Orton, though, puts
<v Speaker 1>his hand out, just as Cody is about to come in.
<v Speaker 1>He puts his hand out, is like begging for mercy. Like, no, no, no, no,
<v Speaker 1>don't do it. Don't do it. And Orton is, he's
<v Speaker 1>on the mat looking up at Cody, and again, he's
<v Speaker 1>begging him not to do it. Orton is holding onto
<v Speaker 1>Cody's leg. Cody shoves him away. He looks over out
<v Speaker 1>at the announcers, and he's telling the announcers, like, it's over. Right?
<v Speaker 1>There's no referee to call it as being over, but
<v Speaker 1>he's telling them, like, what am I supposed to do here? Like,
<v Speaker 1>this thing is over. Finally, we get another referee out
<v Speaker 1>to the ring. Eddie Arango. Shout out to Eddie Arango,
<v Speaker 1>big New York Mets fan. I don't know why, but
<v Speaker 1>he still believes. So anyway, he comes out to the ring.
<v Speaker 1>So was Michael Cole, too. There's a lot of Mets
<v Speaker 1>fans in that company. Eddie Arango comes down to the ring.
<v Speaker 1>And he goes over to check on Randy Orton. So
<v Speaker 1>now Cody goes over to find out what's going on here.
<v Speaker 1>And as soon as Cody walks over, Orton goes low.
<v Speaker 1>But he doesn't just go low on Cody. He gave
<v Speaker 1>this man such a low blow. that it extended out
<v Speaker 1>so much, he got a two-for-one special. He didn't just
<v Speaker 1>low-blow Cody Rhodes, he got all up in Eddie Arango's
<v Speaker 1>business as well. And the poor referee just grimaces in pain,
<v Speaker 1>although again, not quite as painful as it is watching
<v Speaker 1>the New York Mets, but then he falls to the mat.
<v Speaker 1>So now the second referee has been taken out. He
<v Speaker 1>got a double with that one. That was very impressive.
<v Speaker 1>You don't see that very often. Now, you could have
<v Speaker 1>someone get down on their knees and you have two
<v Speaker 1>people in front of them and with the left hand
<v Speaker 1>you low blow one guy, with the right hand you
<v Speaker 1>low blow the other guy because you got two of them, right? Well,
<v Speaker 1>in this case, all it took was one and he
<v Speaker 1>got two. That's very impressive. He didn't quite get all
<v Speaker 1>up in there like Paul Heyman did at WrestleMania last
<v Speaker 1>year with some of those low blows that he was
<v Speaker 1>doling out. But that was very impressive. All of a sudden,
<v Speaker 1>after being down for about five business days, Charles Robinson
<v Speaker 1>reemerges in the ring, just as Randy Orton covers after
<v Speaker 1>one last RKO, and he gets the three count to
<v Speaker 1>put it in the books. As Cody the Geek Rhodes
<v Speaker 1>goes down in defeat to Randy Orton, because as with
<v Speaker 1>WrestleMania last year against John Cena... can't fire the kill
<v Speaker 1>shot he can't bring himself to do it he deserved
<v Speaker 1>it he deserved to lose at this point how could
<v Speaker 1>he not be going heel soon how do you do
<v Speaker 1>a finish like this with all the other teases and
<v Speaker 1>little hints that it's coming and and how do you
<v Speaker 1>not do it at this point You know, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>this is not the first time where he's failed to
<v Speaker 1>capitalize on an opportunity that was right in front of him.
<v Speaker 1>And if this doesn't drive him into madness, then I
<v Speaker 1>don't know what will. I mean, think about what has
<v Speaker 1>happened to Cody Rhodes in the last couple of months.
<v Speaker 1>He lost, after winning the championship back previously, he lost
<v Speaker 1>the WWE championship. He lost now to the man who,
<v Speaker 1>on national television, Called his mother trailer park trash and
<v Speaker 1>called his wife trashy. Hope that his dog died. Said
<v Speaker 1>all of these horrible things about wish death upon the
<v Speaker 1>man's dog. Like all these horrible things about him. And
<v Speaker 1>then he went in there and he lost to him tonight.
<v Speaker 1>He was embarrassed. I mean, if that doesn't drive him
<v Speaker 1>to the brink, then I don't know what does. I
<v Speaker 1>actually thought it was a better match than the one
<v Speaker 1>they had at WrestleMania. Where, again, Orton, The Heel, with
<v Speaker 1>this backwards fucking psychology that they had, Orton, The Heel
<v Speaker 1>just sold the back for like 80 or 90% of it.
<v Speaker 1>And I just thought it was fucking boring. I thought
<v Speaker 1>that this was better. I was hoping there would be
<v Speaker 1>something post-match with Cody, some kind of angle, and there
<v Speaker 1>was nothing. They just went off the air. So now
<v Speaker 1>they're even at one win apiece, which means, especially after
<v Speaker 1>this finish, obviously we're not done with this yet. They'll
<v Speaker 1>probably run it back with a stipulation. Maybe they do
<v Speaker 1>a double turn there at the end of that match.
<v Speaker 1>I still thought it was the best match on the
<v Speaker 1>entire show. Not that there were that many matches to
<v Speaker 1>choose from, but it was the best thing on the show.
<v Speaker 1>What I thought overall was an okay show. At least
<v Speaker 1>they ended with a wrestling match instead of a New
<v Speaker 1>York Knicks championship celebration. And I'm sure all the Knicks
<v Speaker 1>fans We're very happy about that. And I'm happy for
<v Speaker 1>all the Knicks fans. But that closing segment on the
<v Speaker 1>last show was just a gigantic waste of time. And
<v Speaker 1>so at least we didn't have a concert and we
<v Speaker 1>didn't have some goofy angle. We had an actual wrestling
<v Speaker 1>match and one that I thought was pretty good. But
<v Speaker 1>as I said at the beginning of the review, this
<v Speaker 1>was basically just Raw or SmackDown without a lot of
<v Speaker 1>the backstage stuff. The main event got some time. I
<v Speaker 1>didn't clock it. I would say the main event probably
<v Speaker 1>got at least 15 minutes. It was the longest thing
<v Speaker 1>on the show. But yeah, it was just a regular
<v Speaker 1>show otherwise. They went off the air with a tribute
<v Speaker 1>graphic to Bill Dundee, who passed away this morning at
<v Speaker 1>the age of 82, the Memphis wrestling legend. Jerry Lawler's
<v Speaker 1>greatest rival, sometimes tag team partner, Bill Dundee. I talked
<v Speaker 1>about him. as well as Andy Williams at the top
<v Speaker 1>of the podcast today. So if you want to go
<v Speaker 1>back and check that out, that is up right now.
<v Speaker 1>Raw is back live tomorrow night. After last week's show
<v Speaker 1>was taped, they've had a bunch of taped shows, including Friday,
<v Speaker 1>but now they're back live. I think they're in Alabama
<v Speaker 1>tomorrow night. We've got two world title matches coming up
<v Speaker 1>in Mexico City. One on Friday, CM Punk is going
<v Speaker 1>to be defending the WWE Championship against Sami Zayn. And
<v Speaker 1>then next Monday, Roman Reigns puts the World Heavyweight Championship
<v Speaker 1>on the line against Penta. So those are the two
<v Speaker 1>men's world title matches coming up tomorrow. We have the
<v Speaker 1>women's world title. Stephanie Viqueur challenges Liv Morgan. And this
<v Speaker 1>coming Friday, Chelsea Green is going to put her WWE
<v Speaker 1>Women's Championship on the line against Nia Jax. I'm sure
<v Speaker 1>you're all very excited about that. Boy, I can't wait.
<v Speaker 1>They're doing a lot of championship matches. And then next
<v Speaker 1>weekend is, I believe, TripleMania. Now, actually, the first night
<v Speaker 1>of TripleMania is Friday coming up. Then they kind of
<v Speaker 1>take the night off. And then next Sunday is the
<v Speaker 1>TripleMania finale. El Grande Americano will take his place, take
<v Speaker 1>his rightful place at the top of the mountain in
<v Speaker 1>AAA as the new mega champion. We'll get into your
<v Speaker 1>Super Chats here. We are definitely doing Be The Booker,
<v Speaker 1>I can tell you that, because we had a very
<v Speaker 1>attainable goal tonight, which, as I check here, we easily smashed.
<v Speaker 1>So I thank you for that. I know BlissFan is very,
<v Speaker 1>very upset about the outcome of the women's match. I
<v Speaker 1>knew you would be. I guess you could say tomorrow
<v Speaker 1>is kind of like the season premiere of Raw, right?
<v Speaker 1>Labor Day? Isn't this around the time of year where
<v Speaker 1>they have their season premiere? Or is that the beginning
<v Speaker 1>of October? I think sometimes it's the beginning of October. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>Joseph Stewart, happy Sunday to you, sir. He wanted to know,
<v Speaker 1>what is your favorite Butcher and Blade tag team match? Well,
<v Speaker 1>there haven't been very many Butcher and Blade tag team
<v Speaker 1>matches in recent years. But I will tell you the
<v Speaker 1>one that stands out to me, and it may be
<v Speaker 1>their best. They had a, was it a hardcore match?
<v Speaker 1>Might have been a Falls Count Anywhere match with the
<v Speaker 1>Young Bucks. It was on Dynamite in, it was like
<v Speaker 1>year one. It was like 2020. Actually, it was the
<v Speaker 1>same show at Daily's Place where Eddie Kingston made his debut.
<v Speaker 1>And he interrupted Cody Rhodes. I'm pretty sure it was
<v Speaker 1>that same show. And as I recall, that was actually
<v Speaker 1>a really fun match. So I think that might be
<v Speaker 1>the one. I wish I could remember the date. It
<v Speaker 1>was definitely 2020, like during the pandemic. And it was
<v Speaker 1>against the Young Bucks. And Joseph says, rest in peace,
<v Speaker 1>Bill Dundee. Buy or sell Bret Hart versus Undertaker rival.
<v Speaker 1>Or Shawn Michaels versus Undertaker. You mean rivalry? I mean,
<v Speaker 1>Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker rivalry easily clears Bret and
<v Speaker 1>the Undertaker. Were you a fan of the WCW Road
<v Speaker 1>Wild pay-per-views? No, I was not. I actually hated those pay-per-views.
<v Speaker 1>And all of the revving engines and honking horns. I
<v Speaker 1>hear enough of that in New York. Were you a
<v Speaker 1>fan of Hulk Hogan vs. Kevin Nash at Road Wild 1999? No.
<v Speaker 1>How would you have booked Macho Man's WCW run after
<v Speaker 1>his feud with DDP? I would have kept him at
<v Speaker 1>the top of the card, where he belonged. But I
<v Speaker 1>would have had him try to put over somebody else
<v Speaker 1>besides DDP. If there was another person, maybe that they... Well,
<v Speaker 1>I mean, that's the problem, I guess, right? They weren't
<v Speaker 1>exactly hyper-focused on making new young stars. But I would
<v Speaker 1>have tried to use him in a way that maybe
<v Speaker 1>they could have made another star. The way that he
<v Speaker 1>helped DDP... If he could have done that with somebody,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know who that would have been. I think
<v Speaker 1>a Macho Man Jericho program could have been fun. But
<v Speaker 1>they just never saw Jericho at that level. Do you
<v Speaker 1>think Schwarzenegger as Herman Munster and Tia Carrere as Lily
<v Speaker 1>Munster would have been good casting in a 90s Munster's movie? God,
<v Speaker 1>Tia Carrere. I wonder what she's up to these days.
<v Speaker 1>I haven't heard that name in a long time. Would
<v Speaker 1>it have worked? Eh. Hard to know without seeing it.
<v Speaker 1>I don't have an opinion one way or the other. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's still on my watch list of things to check out.
<v Speaker 1>Everybody has spoken very highly of that. There was, I think,
<v Speaker 1>a two-part Clayface episode in the first season. That I
<v Speaker 1>have to watch before the new Clayface movie comes out.
<v Speaker 1>Because I think the new movie was inspired by those
<v Speaker 1>two animated series episodes. Have you seen the picture of
<v Speaker 1>Jonathan Taylor Thomas with The Undertaker and Paul Bearer backstage
<v Speaker 1>at WrestleMania 11? I have. Many years ago, I believe. Joseph,
<v Speaker 1>thank you. Have yourself a great Labor Day, my friend. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>we got... A magenta bomb here. A mini bomb from
<v Speaker 1>MGM Ballin. $ 50 super chat. Grand Slam 2023. Walking to
<v Speaker 1>my seats in the nosebleeds, I see Andy recording a
<v Speaker 1>video with his guitar. His friend asked if we wanted
<v Speaker 1>to be in his video eating our hot dogs while
<v Speaker 1>he played. It was hilarious and awesome. Got a picture too.
<v Speaker 1>Nicest wrestler that I've met. I have yet to hear
<v Speaker 1>a bad story today from all the wrestlers and fans
<v Speaker 1>that have shared stories about the butcher. I have yet
<v Speaker 1>to hear about a bad experience that anybody ever had
<v Speaker 1>with him. And that's a hard thing to come by, right?
<v Speaker 1>Not that it never happens, but when it does, it
<v Speaker 1>just really illustrates, you know, what kind of person they were.
<v Speaker 1>It makes it suck even more that they're not here anymore.
<v Speaker 1>That's a very cool story. See, nobody could ever take
<v Speaker 1>that away from you. Not too many people can say
<v Speaker 1>they've had that experience before. Dry Chicken says Joe Hendry
<v Speaker 1>needs to recruit Javon Evans, Becky Lynch, Stephanie, and Sol
<v Speaker 1>Ruka to burn down the entire Judgment Day clubhouse. There
<v Speaker 1>is no clubhouse anymore. That's the whole thing. They stand
<v Speaker 1>by a bunch of equipment cases in the back mostly now.
<v Speaker 1>It's like they're relegated to the hallway. As much as
<v Speaker 1>I hate to say it, I have to give WWE credit,
<v Speaker 1>he says, for generating go-away heat towards the Judgment Day.
<v Speaker 1>You can't stand them. They're like a knockoff version of
<v Speaker 1>the Jersey Shore cast. Yeah, I wouldn't be giving them
<v Speaker 1>credit for that. That's not something to really give them
<v Speaker 1>credit for. If you have a group that you feel
<v Speaker 1>has go-away heat, you don't usually credit the promoter or
<v Speaker 1>the promotion for that. And RIP to... Andy Williams, aka
<v Speaker 1>The Butcher. Joseph Morris. Dom deserves money in the bank
<v Speaker 1>more than anyone else, in my opinion. I mean, the
<v Speaker 1>way he's been booked this year, the way WWE does things,
<v Speaker 1>you would almost think he'd have to be the early
<v Speaker 1>favorite to win. Just based on how fucking poor his
<v Speaker 1>booking has been for the majority of this year. You
<v Speaker 1>would think they'd have to be setting him up for something.
<v Speaker 1>Lose the mega title in AAA and then win the briefcase?
<v Speaker 1>I could see that. We got the real CS. O2.
<v Speaker 1>With Bayley reportedly on her way back, what do you
<v Speaker 1>think is next for her? Does she continue her feud
<v Speaker 1>with Lyra or does she do something else? Me personally,
<v Speaker 1>I think she would benefit from a run in AAA.
<v Speaker 1>I think she's had a couple of matches in AAA.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think WWE is going to pay to re-sign
<v Speaker 1>her just to send her to AAA. So she's going
<v Speaker 1>to resume her feud with Lyra. They're going to have
<v Speaker 1>at least one more match. And my guess is that
<v Speaker 1>she ends up somewhere in the mid-card working with somebody,
<v Speaker 1>but they're not going to do anything of any great
<v Speaker 1>significance with her. If she wants to stay, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>God bless her. Whatever makes you happy and whatever you
<v Speaker 1>feel is the best business decision for you to make,
<v Speaker 1>I'm not going to begrudge that person for it. I
<v Speaker 1>just think that I don't know why anybody would think
<v Speaker 1>her next run in WWE, if she stays, is going
<v Speaker 1>to be much different than the run that she had recently.
<v Speaker 1>If they saw her as any sort of great attraction
<v Speaker 1>on the show or they had her as a priority
<v Speaker 1>on that brand... she would have been focused on already
<v Speaker 1>pretty heavily. And I wouldn't say that she's been heavily
<v Speaker 1>focused on this year. Now, maybe they knew her contract
<v Speaker 1>was coming due and they intentionally held back on doing
<v Speaker 1>stuff with her. Time will tell if she's resigned, then hey,
<v Speaker 1>the ball's in their court. Maybe the voices will come
<v Speaker 1>back that she was talking to and listening to. Maybe
<v Speaker 1>they'll resume that gimmick. Venom Kitetsu absolutely love city backgrounds
<v Speaker 1>on NES and Sega games. They're just fun and have
<v Speaker 1>charm to them. Streets of Rage, Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, Sonic.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, they're great. I loved it. All those 8-bit backgrounds.
<v Speaker 1>Even some of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games. Mortal Kombat.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, come on. Some of those Mortal Kombat backgrounds.
<v Speaker 1>And Levels. Alexandra says Brandy needs to be on the
<v Speaker 1>show more often. You know, she told Randy, who in
<v Speaker 1>the hell told you it was open mic night before
<v Speaker 1>she threw that drink at him? I'm just disappointed that
<v Speaker 1>they didn't, you know, give Brandy a mic so that
<v Speaker 1>she could call Randy Orton a heffa. I was kind
<v Speaker 1>of holding out hope. And Dark One with a $ 20
<v Speaker 1>super chat. Just wanted to say it was great meeting
<v Speaker 1>you at the HOG show. Likewise, I'm glad you were
<v Speaker 1>able to make it out. Like I told you, it
<v Speaker 1>was my first live show that I've ever gone to,
<v Speaker 1>and it definitely did not disappoint. Hope you guys got
<v Speaker 1>back or come back to Los Angeles soon. Yeah, I'm
<v Speaker 1>sure we're going to be back there in the next
<v Speaker 1>few months. It was very cool to chat with you
<v Speaker 1>for a little bit. Yeah, when he told me that,
<v Speaker 1>I was like, man, never had been to a wrestling
<v Speaker 1>show live before. And so the Hog Show on Friday
<v Speaker 1>was his first one. And I told him, I said,
<v Speaker 1>it's quite the experience that you can be like up
<v Speaker 1>close at an independent, because at an independent show, you're
<v Speaker 1>obviously able to, it's really not a bad seat in
<v Speaker 1>the house. And you're able to get a very up
<v Speaker 1>close look at the action, depending on exactly where you're
<v Speaker 1>sitting or standing, if it's standing room only. And that's
<v Speaker 1>very cool. I'm glad you chose us for your first
<v Speaker 1>wrestling show. First ever. That is very cool. All right,
<v Speaker 1>so we have the goal has been attained, not the
<v Speaker 1>bonus goal, but the main goal has been obtained, which
<v Speaker 1>means that it is time to be the booker here
<v Speaker 1>on a Friday night, on a Sunday night. I don't
<v Speaker 1>even know what day of the week it is. I'm
<v Speaker 1>still suffering from the time zone difference, as you can tell.
<v Speaker 1>If only I was the kind of person who could
<v Speaker 1>actually sleep on an airplane. But of course, it was
<v Speaker 1>not meant to be. Let's be the Booker. I don't
<v Speaker 1>even know what day of the week is. It is
<v Speaker 1>Sunday night, though. At least for nine more minutes. Then
<v Speaker 1>it'll be Monday morning. But I think we'll be all
<v Speaker 1>wrapped up before then. So we have tag team. be
<v Speaker 1>the booker that we are going to begin with always
<v Speaker 1>love me a good tag team wrestling match let's find
<v Speaker 1>out which one we're looking at here tonight Sammy Zane
<v Speaker 1>and Kevin Owens who are not exactly the best of
<v Speaker 1>friends at the moment But they did win the tag
<v Speaker 1>team titles in the main event of WrestleMania. Nobody will
<v Speaker 1>ever be able to take that away from you. You
<v Speaker 1>will always have that. You were able to go to
<v Speaker 1>WrestleMania and win the tag team titles with your best friend.
<v Speaker 1>So let's see who they're going to be putting those
<v Speaker 1>titles on the line against here. It is going to
<v Speaker 1>be the Outrunners against Kevin Owens. and Sami Zayn. Now, unfortunately,
<v Speaker 1>the Outrunners never did get their tag team championship win
<v Speaker 1>in AEW. At the peak of their popularity and with
<v Speaker 1>those throwback, like, 80s VHS-style vignettes, very creative, there was
<v Speaker 1>an opportunity there even for a short run, and Tony
<v Speaker 1>Khan said, fuck you, we're not doing that, which is unfortunate. However,
<v Speaker 1>if we were to see this match again, I would
<v Speaker 1>have to think that they would get that tag team
<v Speaker 1>title win. I'm going to say they would. No, I
<v Speaker 1>like that match. I think that would be a very
<v Speaker 1>fun match. Now on the women's side, let's see if
<v Speaker 1>we can do the same, shall we? Let's book Alex Windsor. Windsor.
<v Speaker 1>One half of the AEW women's tag team champions. She's
<v Speaker 1>a bird. A brawling bird. And she will be brawling.
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to fucking laugh if it's Jamie Hayter. Not
<v Speaker 1>Jamie Hayter, but it is Ruby Soho and Alex Windsor. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>Ruby Soho is supposedly on her way back very soon
<v Speaker 1>to AEW. She, I guess, has been disgusts. for a
<v Speaker 1>potential return. She's been out for a while now. It's
<v Speaker 1>been like, what, two years? Think she had a kid,
<v Speaker 1>her and Angelo Parker? We might be seeing her pop
<v Speaker 1>up on TV soon. That could be another face back
<v Speaker 1>in the AEW women's division. Could very well be. We
<v Speaker 1>have a main event left to book here. Man, this
<v Speaker 1>booking thing is hard. Let's see what we can do.
<v Speaker 1>On one side, The Rocket. The King of Hearts. He
<v Speaker 1>is not a nugget. The Blackheart. Owen Hart. And he's
<v Speaker 1>got his two Slammy Awards, too. There's a new movie,
<v Speaker 1>I think it's a documentary, called Owen, that his family
<v Speaker 1>and the Owen Hart Foundation, I guess, helped produce. That
<v Speaker 1>was just... I don't know if it was submitted to
<v Speaker 1>a film festival or it aired at a film festival.
<v Speaker 1>I think it aired at a film festival, and there
<v Speaker 1>were a bunch of wrestlers who showed up, I think,
<v Speaker 1>from AEW. So I'm curious if that gets a wide release.
<v Speaker 1>I'd love to watch that. Owen Hart. That's right, the
<v Speaker 1>sole survivor. I was trying to think if I missed
<v Speaker 1>one of his nicknames. Owen Hart against, oh my goodness,
<v Speaker 1>Ricky the Dragon Steamboat. What a fucking wrestling match that
<v Speaker 1>would be. Owen Hart and Ricky Steamboat. That is pro wrestling.
<v Speaker 1>That could be a main event on any show. I
<v Speaker 1>don't care where or when. I'd pay to see that
<v Speaker 1>main event. He is not a nugget presented by Arby's. Well,
<v Speaker 1>you know, if Owen was around now, he would have
<v Speaker 1>been the one in that segment. They would have had
<v Speaker 1>him chowing down on some nuggets. I am not a nugget,
<v Speaker 1>but these nuggets are really good. My God. Yeah, think
<v Speaker 1>about that. Let's just think, like, if we were to
<v Speaker 1>pretend that the golden era of WWE was run by TKO,
<v Speaker 1>or the Attitude Era was under the auspices of TKO,
<v Speaker 1>what would that look like? Oh, did we hit the, oh, man,
<v Speaker 1>I forgot again, huh? Man, I can't deprive you. There
<v Speaker 1>it is. Cheers for reminding me. I was so wrapped
<v Speaker 1>up in my thoughts here, I forgot to give you
<v Speaker 1>the clean sweep. There you go. I couldn't deny you.
<v Speaker 1>I couldn't deny you the clean sweep. But what would
<v Speaker 1>that look like? The golden era or the attitude era
<v Speaker 1>if TKO was running the show? Can you just imagine that?
<v Speaker 1>It makes me want to vomit just thinking about it.
<v Speaker 1>We didn't know how lucky we had it back then.
<v Speaker 1>We didn't have all this nonsense. Who said that in
<v Speaker 1>the chat? Muse Man says, Austin 316 says you could
<v Speaker 1>save a bundle on auto insurance. My God. I can't
<v Speaker 1>even imagine what that would look like. I'll be honest
<v Speaker 1>with you, actually. In the golden era with all those
<v Speaker 1>ridiculous gimmicks... I think it would have been funny, though.
<v Speaker 1>Can you imagine Akeem and Slick promoting some kind of
<v Speaker 1>product and Akeem doing that weird fucking dance? Or Honky
<v Speaker 1>Tonk Man? They could probably have some fun with some
<v Speaker 1>of that, but still. The idea of commercializing all that?
<v Speaker 1>It's so revolting. I got two words for you. Liberty Mutual.
<v Speaker 1>That'd be so terrible. Oh my god. JR promoting Skittles.
<v Speaker 1>He used to do a pretty good job of promoting Skittles,
<v Speaker 1>given that we still remember him promoting Skittles. We'd lose
<v Speaker 1>his mind. It'd be the worst during the new generation.
<v Speaker 1>Oh my god, yeah, that would be awful. Fucking TL Hopper.
<v Speaker 1>promoting some sort of, like, bounty paper towel, and you'd
<v Speaker 1>have Duke the Dumpster's Rosie promoting hefty bags, Isaac Yankum
<v Speaker 1>promoting some sort of fucking toothpaste. Oh, my God. Well,
<v Speaker 1>I mean, some of those gimmicks around that time period
<v Speaker 1>were awful enough. I don't really see how commercializing them
<v Speaker 1>can make them any worse. Hakeem promoting Black History Month.
<v Speaker 1>There you go. That sounds like something they would do.
<v Speaker 1>I'm sure Bruce would find it very amusing. Undertaker. He
<v Speaker 1>was so protective of kayfabe for so long, but TKO
<v Speaker 1>doesn't care. TKO would be like, you go out there
<v Speaker 1>and you promote. What would they have The Undertaker promoting?
<v Speaker 1>This is back in his early Deadman days. They'd have
<v Speaker 1>him promoting something. Savage already had the Slim Jim sponsorship. See,
<v Speaker 1>Savage was ahead of his time there. He got that sponsorship.
<v Speaker 1>He took it with him when he went to WCW.
<v Speaker 1>That's one of the reasons why Vince, he was like
<v Speaker 1>persona non grata to Vince. Supposedly, that was like a
<v Speaker 1>million-dollar sponsorship at a time when business was very lean
<v Speaker 1>for Vince. So he took that personally. We did have
<v Speaker 1>Andre the Giant promoting Honeycomb. Yes, he did. He did
<v Speaker 1>promote that cereal. King Kong Bundy, I feel like, was also... Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I mean, look, it's not that they didn't have some
<v Speaker 1>instances of wrestlers who were in commercials or might be
<v Speaker 1>promoting a certain product. It was very rare, though. If
<v Speaker 1>they were promoting stuff, it was usually their own merch.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, they had Paul Orndorff promoting a Hulk Hogan...
<v Speaker 1>It was like a videotape or something. I'm like, why
<v Speaker 1>do they have Orndorff, who I think was a heel
<v Speaker 1>at the time, promoting Hogan merch. That never really made
<v Speaker 1>any sense to me. Maybe they could have Undertaker promote
<v Speaker 1>life insurance. They have those life insurance commercials. You won't
<v Speaker 1>live forever. Think of the family before you rest. In peace. Man,
<v Speaker 1>the possibilities are just endless. Kane was in the Chef
<v Speaker 1>Boyardee commercial. So was Mankind. Actually, the ones I enjoyed
<v Speaker 1>were those Stacker 2 commercials with Kane and that fat guy.
<v Speaker 1>They had that one in the supermarket. And Kane was
<v Speaker 1>waiting in line. And then that guy's like, Kane, this
<v Speaker 1>is the express line. Can't you count? One, two. And
<v Speaker 1>then Kane lunges for him. See, those I thought were amusing.
<v Speaker 1>I did find those funny. I don't know. Yes. Thank
<v Speaker 1>you for reminding me, Lucky Dog. I don't know that
<v Speaker 1>there's ever going to be a wrestling commercial that would
<v Speaker 1>make me laugh or just like, there is no better
<v Speaker 1>commercial than the Sting Sprite commercial, which had to be 99, 98, 99?
<v Speaker 1>He beat the crap out of that kid. Fucking slammed
<v Speaker 1>him into the banister, threw him against the fucking wall. See,
<v Speaker 1>that's what we need more of. We need more commercials
<v Speaker 1>with wrestlers beating up obnoxious little brat kids. I can
<v Speaker 1>get behind that. IRS, yeah. Well, there you go. There's
<v Speaker 1>your new TurboTax sponsor. Erwin R. Scheister. Actually, you see,
<v Speaker 1>that doesn't make any sense because IRS, if he was
<v Speaker 1>the tax man, he might have had his own CPA firm.
<v Speaker 1>And so you would think he wouldn't want to be
<v Speaker 1>promoting a product like TurboTax, unless he was just concerned
<v Speaker 1>about people actually paying their taxes. Then he could promote
<v Speaker 1>TurboTax or some of these H & R Block or something.
<v Speaker 1>That kid grew up to be Darby Allen. Come full circle. Noah,
<v Speaker 1>thank you for the five. He says, Undertaker would do PSAs.
<v Speaker 1>Don't text or drive or you'll be a dead man.
<v Speaker 1>I'm pretty sure they had some sort of like just
<v Speaker 1>say no to drugs PSA with him. That was very
<v Speaker 1>similar to that. They did have those. Those were always fun. Like,
<v Speaker 1>don't do drugs, especially at a time when, like, probably
<v Speaker 1>fucking half the locker room was doing drugs. It's like
<v Speaker 1>those old Saved by the Bell PSAs. There's no hope
<v Speaker 1>in dope. Actually, they had Undertaker do that. I do
<v Speaker 1>remember that. I wonder if it's on YouTube. I vaguely
<v Speaker 1>remember this, that they had Undertaker do, like, an anti-drug PSA.
<v Speaker 1>And I think he said something similar. Bret Hart promoting
<v Speaker 1>heart medication. Talk to your doctor to find out if
<v Speaker 1>this drug is right for you. So your heart can
<v Speaker 1>be the best there is, the best there was, and
<v Speaker 1>the best there ever will be. Bret Hart promoting a
<v Speaker 1>dating app. God, what would Bret put in his bio?
<v Speaker 1>Probably the best there is, the best there was, and
<v Speaker 1>the best there ever will be. Actually, you'd probably be like,
<v Speaker 1>if you had like one line, I don't even know
<v Speaker 1>how it works these days, but like if you had
<v Speaker 1>one line under your photo, it'd be like screwed in Montreal.
<v Speaker 1>God knows what the woman would think if she sees that.
<v Speaker 1>That can mean so many different things. Hey, J-Man, what's
<v Speaker 1>going on? J-Man dropping the $ 9. 99. It's good to hear
<v Speaker 1>from you, brother. Val Venus Blue Chew adds... Can you
<v Speaker 1>imagine if WWE made their own dating app for WWE?
<v Speaker 1>Oh my God. I would join. I would join and
<v Speaker 1>I would do weekly reviews on the podcast. I would
<v Speaker 1>never run out of content. I would never ever run
<v Speaker 1>out of content. It would be amazing. Apparently Brett did
<v Speaker 1>a lot of dating then. Well, if you read his book, yeah. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>He was brutally honest about that. More honest than you
<v Speaker 1>would ever think he would be. Well, I'm sure we
<v Speaker 1>can come up with more ideas. I think we've come
<v Speaker 1>up with some good ones, as it is. But thankfully,
<v Speaker 1>we did not live through these highly commercialized eras in
<v Speaker 1>the old days, in Crockett, or the Ruthless Aggression era.
<v Speaker 1>Not to the extent that it is today. This is
<v Speaker 1>to the point of just, I don't even know what
<v Speaker 1>this product is anymore. It's sad. They might be making
<v Speaker 1>more money than ever before, but it's sad what it's
<v Speaker 1>turned into. Nothing wrong with a little bit of promotion
<v Speaker 1>and sponsorships, but when it just gets to a certain
<v Speaker 1>point where the show is literally opening with wrestlers promoting
<v Speaker 1>steak nuggets, what are we doing? Chad Gable, him and
<v Speaker 1>the fucking root beer mascot. Alexander from the 499. WWF
<v Speaker 1>had a call-in hotline advertised on Superstars at one point
<v Speaker 1>where you could have Undertaker and Paul Bearer sing Happy
<v Speaker 1>Birthday to you. Yes, and I believe on one of
<v Speaker 1>the 979 episodes of the sound-off that I've done, I
<v Speaker 1>believe I may have played that audio once as part
<v Speaker 1>of an intro. It was quite startling. Just to listen
<v Speaker 1>to those messages was kind of disturbing, actually. Jim Cornette
<v Speaker 1>promoting Dairy Queen. Neidhart selling anvils. Where does one go
<v Speaker 1>to buy an anvil? Do they have those at Home Depot?
<v Speaker 1>Jerry Lawler would probably beg to promote back-to-school sales at Target.
<v Speaker 1>There you go. Well, he did request that the street
<v Speaker 1>that they wanted to dedicate to him in Memphis be
<v Speaker 1>behind the middle school. So when they had the dedication
<v Speaker 1>ceremony a few weeks ago, they dedicated a street to
<v Speaker 1>Jerry Lawler right behind a middle school. Can't make that up.
<v Speaker 1>Navy 4181, Cody's gone from Sonic Boom to Sonic Buffoon. Uh-oh,
<v Speaker 1>don't use that word. Teddy Long will get very mad
<v Speaker 1>at you. Cody was the best part of that most
<v Speaker 1>recent Street Fighter trailer that they dropped. I am planning
<v Speaker 1>on seeing that movie. I don't know if I'm going
<v Speaker 1>to have as much fun with it as I did
<v Speaker 1>with the Mortal Kombat movie earlier this year, but I
<v Speaker 1>am planning on seeing that movie. Lawler knows where bodies
<v Speaker 1>are buried. He has pretty much been Teflon for his
<v Speaker 1>entire life. That's why they call him the King of Memphis. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>JR already has his own barbecue sauce. He's had it
<v Speaker 1>for many years. I actually don't know who is even
<v Speaker 1>running it at this point. I think it still exists.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if he's actively running it. I know
<v Speaker 1>obviously he's had a lot of health issues. So maybe
<v Speaker 1>he has people helping him. But as far as I know,
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I think his barbecue sauce is still available,
<v Speaker 1>I believe. GTA 6. Yeah, you know, everyone is saying
<v Speaker 1>like GTA 6, they're never going to leave their houses
<v Speaker 1>and everything. As long as you promise me that when
<v Speaker 1>you're playing GTA 6, you'll have the sound off playing
<v Speaker 1>in the background. Don't desert me. You can have the
<v Speaker 1>best of both worlds. You can have GTA 6 and
<v Speaker 1>the sound off. What more do you need? You don't
<v Speaker 1>need anything else. That's it. All right, thank you guys
<v Speaker 1>for a fun stream here tonight. I'm going to be
<v Speaker 1>back with you live in less than 24 hours because
<v Speaker 1>tomorrow night we have the Raw post show. We're live again.
<v Speaker 1>Raw is back to being live. And so we have our,
<v Speaker 1>I think, all of our usual streams this week. Plus Tuesday,
<v Speaker 1>a brand new Uncrowned Wrestling show. There'll be a brand
<v Speaker 1>new Tuesday Night Titans. So we got a lot of
<v Speaker 1>content coming up. And I hope you will go back
<v Speaker 1>and check out episode 979 of The Sound Off. Again,
<v Speaker 1>that went up. a little bit earlier on this afternoon.
<v Speaker 1>Hit that like button on your way out. Share it
<v Speaker 1>out with all your friends. And until next time, be well,
<v Speaker 1>stay safe, have yourselves a great rest of your night
<v Speaker 1>and a great Labor Day. And I will see you
<v Speaker 1>back here tomorrow for more SoundOff on YouTube. Until then,
<v Speaker 1>take care, guys.
