<v Speaker 1>it was what you would expect, except they weren't very

<v Speaker 1>animated for that main event, I will say. As the

<v Speaker 1>main event progressed tonight with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn,

<v Speaker 1>the people were into it. We did get Sami Zayn.

<v Speaker 1>One week after regaining the WWE Championship, he was forced

<v Speaker 1>to put it on the line tonight against his old friend,

<v Speaker 1>Kevin Owens. These two were destined to fight forever. Although

<v Speaker 1>this is the first time that they have fought for

<v Speaker 1>the WWE title. So that was different. And we got

<v Speaker 1>the usual parade of cameos that we've been getting in

<v Speaker 1>these WWE title matches. It's been going on for a

<v Speaker 1>while now. It's become a staple. And that's getting old

<v Speaker 1>very fast. The match, though, itself, was going really well.

<v Speaker 1>Johnny Gargano came out. CM Punk came out. There was

<v Speaker 1>a moment, unfortunately, in the main event... Where things didn't

<v Speaker 1>quite go according to plan. There was a little hiccup

<v Speaker 1>in there involving the referee. Although I don't blame the

<v Speaker 1>referee for it. I think it was just... Here's what

<v Speaker 1>I think happened. You had CM Punk come out and

<v Speaker 1>CM Punk waffled Kevin Owens upside the head with the

<v Speaker 1>WWE Championship. Again, we have seen this week in and

<v Speaker 1>week out now for weeks and weeks on end. People

<v Speaker 1>getting hit in the head with the belt. And I

<v Speaker 1>have a theory about this. That Kevin Owens may have

<v Speaker 1>gotten his bell rung a little too well. And he

<v Speaker 1>was supposed to get his shoulder up, and he didn't.

<v Speaker 1>And the referee held up the count. Now, look, when

<v Speaker 1>you're the referee and you're in a situation like that,

<v Speaker 1>I get it. Like, you're Johnny on the spot. The

<v Speaker 1>camera's on you. Everyone's looking at you. This is a

<v Speaker 1>pivotal part of this main event. The title is on

<v Speaker 1>the line, and you don't know what to do. Because

<v Speaker 1>you know it's not supposed to be the end of

<v Speaker 1>the match, right? You got a little bit more left

<v Speaker 1>to go, so what do you do? Well, you would

<v Speaker 1>hope that they would just count it as a shoot

<v Speaker 1>because what else are you supposed to do? What ends

<v Speaker 1>up happening is what happened tonight, which is poor Ryan

<v Speaker 1>Tran is in the ring and he looks like a

<v Speaker 1>fucking idiot because he holds up the count when Kevin Owens,

<v Speaker 1>clearly his shoulders were still down. But again, I think

<v Speaker 1>he got his bell rung. He kind of lifted his

<v Speaker 1>shoulder a little bit like he was just showing signs

<v Speaker 1>of life. And then... Not two minutes later, the match

<v Speaker 1>ends anyway, on a Huluva kick. So it would not

<v Speaker 1>have even changed anything. It's not like, oh my God,

<v Speaker 1>the title changed hands. It would have been the same outcome.

<v Speaker 1>So unfortunately, that sucked. But in the end, Sami Zayn,

<v Speaker 1>he does manage to retain the WWE Championship. CM Punk

<v Speaker 1>left both of them laying, and that is how we

<v Speaker 1>went off the air tonight for SmackDown as... Again, lots

<v Speaker 1>of men coming after that championship, whether it be CM

<v Speaker 1>Punk wanting his belt back, Kevin Owens, Johnny Gargano. There's

<v Speaker 1>a few other people. I mean, look, you got Cody

<v Speaker 1>and Randy and Gunther and Balor, and they're kind of

<v Speaker 1>going to be off doing their thing, it looks like,

<v Speaker 1>here for a little bit. So are we going to

<v Speaker 1>get a three-way? Are we going to get a four-way

<v Speaker 1>match involving Johnny Gargano, who is in the mix? They're

<v Speaker 1>keeping him in this mix for the time being. That

<v Speaker 1>is the question that they are going to have to

<v Speaker 1>answer for another day. We didn't get the answer here tonight.

<v Speaker 1>We also didn't get a whole lot of answers from

<v Speaker 1>Cody Rhodes, who had a sit-down interview that he did

<v Speaker 1>in the back with Michael Cole. And he got a

<v Speaker 1>little snippy when it was presented to him that perhaps,

<v Speaker 1>you know, he brought up the fact that on social

<v Speaker 1>media and other places people are talking about maybe he

<v Speaker 1>should go down a different path. Maybe we should see

<v Speaker 1>a different side of Cody Rhodes. And he doesn't seem

<v Speaker 1>to agree. There was a little snippet that Triple H

<v Speaker 1>posted on social media after the show that did not

<v Speaker 1>air on the show tonight. And I'll mention what that

<v Speaker 1>was a little bit later. Just something that he whispered

<v Speaker 1>into Michael Cole's ear. Perhaps he can whisper into Michael

<v Speaker 1>Cole's ear the name of Johnny Gargano's wife, which he

<v Speaker 1>continues to get wrong on a nearly weekly basis. We

<v Speaker 1>had Money in the Bank qualifying matches, the first batch

<v Speaker 1>of them that we have had here on SmackDown. We've

<v Speaker 1>had four of them on Monday Night Raw up until

<v Speaker 1>this point. And so we know Bron Breaker has qualified,

<v Speaker 1>and Saul Ruka, and we had some more names this

<v Speaker 1>past Monday night that also qualify for the match, including

<v Speaker 1>Javon Evans. He is going to be in. Lola Weiss,

<v Speaker 1>who just debuted on Monday. But tonight it was Ray

<v Speaker 1>Phoenix and Randy Orton and Trick Williams. Ray Phoenix, who

<v Speaker 1>actually successfully... retained his AAA Cruiserweight Championship. So that was

<v Speaker 1>a big win for him. He was hoping to parlay

<v Speaker 1>that into something even bigger on this show. It didn't

<v Speaker 1>work out that way, though. And it didn't work out

<v Speaker 1>for Randy Orton either, because Trick Williams is the one

<v Speaker 1>who is going to be going on to Money in

<v Speaker 1>the Bank next month. So he qualified. On the women's side,

<v Speaker 1>we had JC Jane qualifying over Jade Cargill and Alexa Bliss.

<v Speaker 1>And as I mentioned, we have Money in the Bank

<v Speaker 1>qualifying matches that have already been announced for next Friday.

<v Speaker 1>And on that show, CM Punk, Gunther, and Finn Balor

<v Speaker 1>are going to be going toe-to-toe, quarreling to find out

<v Speaker 1>who gets a spot in that ladder match. On the

<v Speaker 1>women's side, we also know that in that match, Charlotte Flair,

<v Speaker 1>Lash Legend, and Giulia. who I think is still feuding

<v Speaker 1>with Blake Monroe. You wouldn't necessarily know that from watching

<v Speaker 1>the television show tonight because Blake Monroe was not there.

<v Speaker 1>Blake Monroe, apparently, I suppose there's still time for her

<v Speaker 1>to be involved in a Money in the Bank qualifying match,

<v Speaker 1>but she was not on the show tonight. Perhaps she

<v Speaker 1>will show her face next week and we'll get another

<v Speaker 1>pull-apart brawl between her and Julia. Look, I can't rule

<v Speaker 1>out the possibility that Julia might actually qualify, only if

<v Speaker 1>the idea, though, is to put Blake in the ladder match.

<v Speaker 1>Because it wouldn't make sense to have one but not

<v Speaker 1>the other. So the only way Julia gets into that

<v Speaker 1>match is in the off chance that Blake Monroe is

<v Speaker 1>also going to be in a qualifying match, and then

<v Speaker 1>she eventually gets in. Otherwise, we're looking at Charlotte, we're

<v Speaker 1>looking at Lash. Hopefully Charlotte. If it comes right down

<v Speaker 1>to it between those two, hopefully we're looking at Charlotte.

<v Speaker 1>getting into that match. I thought it was a fine

<v Speaker 1>opening and I thought it was a fine closing outside of, again,

<v Speaker 1>that unfortunate botch with the referee in the main event.

<v Speaker 1>And everything in the middle of the show was very

<v Speaker 1>middle of the road. And I think overall, that's a

<v Speaker 1>good way to describe it. It was a very middle

<v Speaker 1>of the road SmackDown with some good and some bad.

<v Speaker 1>Nick Aldis, was already in the ring at the beginning

<v Speaker 1>of the show here. Says sometimes you got to deal

<v Speaker 1>with people who just rub you the wrong way, but

<v Speaker 1>you dig down deep, you put on a big smile,

<v Speaker 1>and you be a professional. And with that in mind, well,

<v Speaker 1>that's kind of like my dealings with Charles Mason over

<v Speaker 1>the last few years. You just got to be a professional.

<v Speaker 1>I don't like the guy personally. I think he's a

<v Speaker 1>piece of garbage, but you can't deny the man's talent.

<v Speaker 1>But with that in mind, he said... allow me to

<v Speaker 1>introduce you to the brand new WWE champion, Sami Zayn. Now,

<v Speaker 1>the way he was talking about this, and Aldis was

<v Speaker 1>talking about how, you know, this over-the-top request that I

<v Speaker 1>received here, and then he introduces... Sammy, I thought we

<v Speaker 1>were going to get some really over-the-top, like, pyro celebration.

<v Speaker 1>Remember when Ricky Starks won the Owen Hart tournament? I

<v Speaker 1>think it was after he won the Owen a few

<v Speaker 1>years ago. And he came out on Dynamite, and he

<v Speaker 1>stood on the ropes. And my God, I mean, the

<v Speaker 1>fucking pyro that they set off for a good minute

<v Speaker 1>until it finally stopped. I thought we were going to

<v Speaker 1>get something like that here. But I guess TKO doesn't

<v Speaker 1>want to spring. It's not in the budget. So the

<v Speaker 1>fans were not very happy to see Sammy... And he said,

<v Speaker 1>it's got to kill all this to give him that

<v Speaker 1>kind of introduction. And he's got to be honest, he's

<v Speaker 1>a little surprised by the reaction tonight here in Corpus Christi.

<v Speaker 1>He means what he says. Justice for Sammy was about

<v Speaker 1>justice for all. Even the ones that are booing him,

<v Speaker 1>whether they realize it or not, he fights for them.

<v Speaker 1>This is justice for you. Justice has been served, and

<v Speaker 1>this right here is what it looks like. I guess, well,

<v Speaker 1>he should go around calling himself the people's champion, I guess.

<v Speaker 1>That's kind of what he's calling himself. He told Aldis

<v Speaker 1>that he also believes in equality, which means that when

<v Speaker 1>he has all of these other top superstars knocking on

<v Speaker 1>his door asking for title opportunities, he expects them to

<v Speaker 1>be treated equally the way that Aldis treated Sammy. He

<v Speaker 1>expects the same for them. Put every obstacle you can

<v Speaker 1>in their path just like he did for him. So

<v Speaker 1>Rebel Heart interrupted. Out to the ring comes Johnny Gargano.

<v Speaker 1>With his wife, Candice Michelle. That's what Michael Cole referred

<v Speaker 1>to her as. Don't look at me. I'm just telling

<v Speaker 1>you what they told us. Michael Cole referred to her

<v Speaker 1>as Candice Michelle, as he does almost every single time

<v Speaker 1>this woman comes out here. Now, once or twice, I

<v Speaker 1>can understand. And then I was kind of thinking maybe

<v Speaker 1>it's some sort of inside rib or whatever. It's not, though.

<v Speaker 1>He just, it's his brain. He just confuses the two

<v Speaker 1>of them and he can't help himself. He got to

<v Speaker 1>be careful. Candice LeRae is going to start to get jealous.

<v Speaker 1>The more that he keeps mentioning Candice Michelle, she may

<v Speaker 1>think there's some funny business going on here between Johnny

<v Speaker 1>and the other Candice. The number of times that he

<v Speaker 1>keeps mentioning her. So Sammy gave him a big hug

<v Speaker 1>when he got in the ring and he talked about

<v Speaker 1>how important you guys were to me getting back, you know,

<v Speaker 1>this WWE championship. But Gargano reminded him that, look, we

<v Speaker 1>had a deal. That if he helped Sami regain the title,

<v Speaker 1>he's first in line. And so he's here to collect.

<v Speaker 1>Sami told him, look, I don't want to split hairs here.

<v Speaker 1>But we never made a deal. Johnny said he was

<v Speaker 1>first in line. Sami never said that. That's something Gargano said.

<v Speaker 1>All he said was that he would take care of him.

<v Speaker 1>And Gargano said, well, then take care of me. How

<v Speaker 1>about Sami Zayn against Johnny Wrestling tonight for the WWE

<v Speaker 1>title in Corpus Christi? So Aldis intervened and he said,

<v Speaker 1>Sammy might be the champion, but he doesn't make championship matches.

<v Speaker 1>He does. Sammy agreed. He said, well, it's not totally,

<v Speaker 1>clearly it's not totally up to me. You know, Nick

<v Speaker 1>is right. He's the one who makes the call here.

<v Speaker 1>So Aldis said, you know, honestly, Johnny, you also had

<v Speaker 1>a title match in your hometown a couple of weeks ago,

<v Speaker 1>and that didn't work out too well for him. As

<v Speaker 1>far as he's concerned, the man he considers to be

<v Speaker 1>next in line is not here tonight, which turned out

<v Speaker 1>to be a lie. And that man is CM Punk.

<v Speaker 1>So that brought out, not CM Punk, that brought out

<v Speaker 1>Kevin Owens. He got in the ring and he told

<v Speaker 1>Aldis he's looking at someone who deserves a title match

<v Speaker 1>right here. Candice, not Michelle, interrupted and said, no, Johnny

<v Speaker 1>is next. So Owens told Aldis, excuse me a minute,

<v Speaker 1>and then he dropped Gargano with a stunner. So Aldis said,

<v Speaker 1>after what Owens did last week, he doesn't reward bad behavior.

<v Speaker 1>Owens asked if he was, are you high? And it

<v Speaker 1>rightly pointed out all the matches that Sami has interfered in.

<v Speaker 1>And all the people that Sami has screwed over in

<v Speaker 1>recent weeks. Including the triple threat between Kevin Owens, Balor,

<v Speaker 1>and Gunther. And let's not forget that this whole mess

<v Speaker 1>started when Sami cost him the WWE title in Toronto.

<v Speaker 1>Not to mention that Sami is an arrogant jackass. So

<v Speaker 1>Sami got upset when Aldis agreed with all of this stuff.

<v Speaker 1>And he grabbed Aldis by his jacket. which is not

<v Speaker 1>a very smart thing to do if you're trying to

<v Speaker 1>keep the GM on your side. He told Sammy, get

<v Speaker 1>your hands off me right now. And he told him,

<v Speaker 1>lace him up tight, because guess what? You're going to

<v Speaker 1>be defending your WWE championship tonight in the main event

<v Speaker 1>against Kevin Owens. And he said, what was that last

<v Speaker 1>reign of yours? Nine days? Let's see if you can

<v Speaker 1>get past seven. So Sammy ended up following Aldis out

<v Speaker 1>of the ring. He chased him down into the aisle.

<v Speaker 1>He was trying to apologize to him. When Randy Orton's

<v Speaker 1>music hit and Sammy was just frozen in his tracks,

<v Speaker 1>Orton walks out. He shines the belt up with his

<v Speaker 1>hand when he walked out as if to tell him,

<v Speaker 1>keep that warm for me. I'm coming for it. And

<v Speaker 1>he was out to the ring for his Money in

<v Speaker 1>the Bank qualifying match, which was coming up next. So

<v Speaker 1>before we get to that, another WWE title match. Set

<v Speaker 1>up here in the main event is now we're getting

<v Speaker 1>a lot of these now. So we got another one

<v Speaker 1>set up for the main event tonight and they were

<v Speaker 1>very careful to remind us that Sammy only held the

<v Speaker 1>belt for nine days the first time. And so given

<v Speaker 1>how little time he had with that championship, and then

<v Speaker 1>in your mind, you're also maybe thinking, Hey, we just

<v Speaker 1>had a title change last week. There were actually a

<v Speaker 1>bunch of big titles that changed hands this past weekend

<v Speaker 1>and Maybe it's at least plausible that we might have

<v Speaker 1>a big title change tonight in corpses. Christie was never

<v Speaker 1>going to happen, but you know, it's their job to

<v Speaker 1>try to set things up in such a way that

<v Speaker 1>makes you at least have a little bit of doubt, right?

<v Speaker 1>That maybe, maybe we'll get another title change here in

<v Speaker 1>the main event. Maybe this time he will lose the

<v Speaker 1>belt even quicker than he did the first time. So

<v Speaker 1>I didn't have an issue with it. It set things

<v Speaker 1>up nicely for the main event later in the show.

<v Speaker 1>And again, I've been enjoying the kind of circle of

<v Speaker 1>challengers that have been putting their name in the hat

<v Speaker 1>here for the championship. Sammy is a heel now, so

<v Speaker 1>of course he plays the paranoid one very well. I

<v Speaker 1>guess it's kind of similar. There was that period of

<v Speaker 1>time many years ago where, remember he was filming a documentary?

<v Speaker 1>And supposedly it was a real documentary. I don't know

<v Speaker 1>that it was ever released. It'll be lost media one

<v Speaker 1>day until it pops up on the Vault channel on YouTube.

<v Speaker 1>But he was kind of like the conspiracy victim, right?

<v Speaker 1>Always paranoid, conspiracy for everything. So this is the closest

<v Speaker 1>to that character that we've gotten in a very long time.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, he plays it very well. But he has

<v Speaker 1>every right to be paranoid because, again, he's got people

<v Speaker 1>coming for him from every angle because he's fucked over

<v Speaker 1>so many people in the last few weeks. But to me, anyway,

<v Speaker 1>it makes for entertaining TV. Randy Orton versus Trick Williams

<v Speaker 1>versus Ray Phoenix in a triple threat qualifier for the

<v Speaker 1>Men's Money in the Bank ladder match. They ended up

<v Speaker 1>outside the ring early in front of the announce desk.

<v Speaker 1>Orton dropped Phoenix on top of the desk with a

<v Speaker 1>back suplex, then did the same thing to Trick. And

<v Speaker 1>then Lil Yachty, who was out there with Trick, he

<v Speaker 1>got up in Orton's face and Orton poked Yachty in

<v Speaker 1>the eye and then dropped him on top of the

<v Speaker 1>desk for good measure. Hopefully he didn't catch him in

<v Speaker 1>the eye as bad as Jake Hager got tagged in

<v Speaker 1>the eye the other night on that power slap show. Yeah,

<v Speaker 1>I joke about Hager sometimes with some of these stories

<v Speaker 1>like on the sound up, but that man was bleeding

<v Speaker 1>bloody tears. Like he had tears coming down his eye

<v Speaker 1>and like they were, it was blood. Like there was

<v Speaker 1>blood coming out of his eye. There was blood on

<v Speaker 1>the side of his eye. It was so bad he

<v Speaker 1>had to undergo emergency surgery. Might have been today. I

<v Speaker 1>don't know. His girlfriend or whoever it was posted a

<v Speaker 1>message on his social media earlier just to let everybody

<v Speaker 1>know that he had to undergo emergency surgery, but yeah,

<v Speaker 1>that looked really bad. I think the whole power slap

<v Speaker 1>thing is fucking stupid to begin with. I mean, it's

<v Speaker 1>just CTE City, and how that's even allowed, I'll never know,

<v Speaker 1>but You know, look, I mean, you play stupid games,

<v Speaker 1>you win stupid prizes, but it doesn't mean I want

<v Speaker 1>to see the guy injured, so hopefully he'll be okay.

<v Speaker 1>So later on, Orton plays Trick on the top rope,

<v Speaker 1>was setting up for a suplex. Phoenix, he was on

<v Speaker 1>the apron, and he ended up flipping into the ring

<v Speaker 1>in such a position that he got underneath them for

<v Speaker 1>what ended up being a Tower of Doom superplex spot.

<v Speaker 1>So they all go crashing down, Orton does anyway, with Trick.

<v Speaker 1>And then Phoenix comes off the top with a frog

<v Speaker 1>splash to Orton for a very close near fall. Later on,

<v Speaker 1>Orton was about to hit the draping DDT on Trick.

<v Speaker 1>Phoenix ran the rope, hit the goodbye amigo kick to Orton.

<v Speaker 1>Super kick by Phoenix connects to Trick. And then off

<v Speaker 1>the top comes Ray Phoenix perfectly into an RKO. Randy

<v Speaker 1>Orton has the match won, but here comes Trick with

<v Speaker 1>a trick shot knee that knocks Orton out of the picture,

<v Speaker 1>and then he covers Ray Phoenix, and Trick Williams picks

<v Speaker 1>up the win to qualify for Money in the Bank.

<v Speaker 1>And so the United States champion is moving on. October 10th.

<v Speaker 1>You will be a part of that Money in the

<v Speaker 1>Bank ladder match. I didn't figure that Orton was winning

<v Speaker 1>this anyway, but only because I thought we might see

<v Speaker 1>Cody get involved. I was thinking that maybe they would

<v Speaker 1>be doing something there with those two. I'm happy he didn't.

<v Speaker 1>I'm happy we didn't get Cody involved. I'm happy we

<v Speaker 1>environment that someone like Phoenix would thrive in. But here's

<v Speaker 1>see him in there, I also think that you want

<v Speaker 1>to have people in there who could plausibly win the briefcase.

<v Speaker 1>be defended between them. So inevitably, we're going to get

<v Speaker 1>a title match between these two teams. Do you honestly

<v Speaker 1>care who wins that match? Does it matter if the

<v Speaker 1>MFTs win or if BoxSide wins? Like, who cares? Because

<v Speaker 1>once that plays itself out, who are they defending those

<v Speaker 1>titles against? There's nobody else. There's no real name team

<v Speaker 1>left for them to work with on this show. Who's left?

<v Speaker 1>Who cares? Kevin Owens, he was in the back with

<v Speaker 1>terms of how they're booked and presented, even when Cody

<v Speaker 1>still had the belt, ever since WrestleMania, has been Roman Reigns.

<v Speaker 1>So Roman Reigns is QB1, but nevertheless. They sat down

<v Speaker 1>in the back, and he asked Cody, why were you

<v Speaker 1>not able to pull the trigger? Why were you unable

<v Speaker 1>to shoot Randy Orton on Sunday night's main event? And

<v Speaker 1>he referenced Cody again being called QB1. Cody said, you know, well, actually,

<v Speaker 1>Cole brought this up first. The people who were in

<v Speaker 1>the ring, who shared the ring with Cody at WrestleMania

<v Speaker 1>two years ago when he finished the story. And they

<v Speaker 1>showed a picture, too, of Cody being held up on

<v Speaker 1>Jey Uso's shoulders. And there's Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

<v Speaker 1>is there. Randy Orton is there, right? All these people

<v Speaker 1>are in the ring. And they're so happy for Cody

<v Speaker 1>and they're celebrating with him. He finished the story. And

<v Speaker 1>he won the WWE title for the first time. And

<v Speaker 1>he said that all the people that were in the

<v Speaker 1>ring with him that night have since stabbed him in

<v Speaker 1>the back. Which is a lie. It's a lie. It's

<v Speaker 1>not even true. I mean, again, they showed the image

<v Speaker 1>of Cody being held up. He was specifically on the

<v Speaker 1>shoulders of Jey Uso. who never turned his back. He

<v Speaker 1>never stabbed him in the back. What's he talking about?

<v Speaker 1>I don't recall Jey Uso ever stabbing Cody. Was there

<v Speaker 1>the idea that he would have to compromise who he

<v Speaker 1>is in order to be a winner because he hears

<v Speaker 1>the chatter And he sees it and hears it online,

<v Speaker 1>you know, that he should take a different path. Maybe

<v Speaker 1>he should go down a darker path, right? He should

<v Speaker 1>kind of betray who he is and embrace the dark

<v Speaker 1>side of Cody Rhodes. With all of these things that

<v Speaker 1>he has done, he's done by being himself. He mentioned

<v Speaker 1>disrupting the wrestling world outside of WWE. He mentioned winning

<v Speaker 1>the WWE championship, beating Brock Lesnar twice, winning the Royal

<v Speaker 1>Rumble twice. taking the torch from John Cena, beating Randy

<v Speaker 1>Orton at WrestleMania this year, so he's amused by this

<v Speaker 1>notion that he has to change. The next time he

<v Speaker 1>meets Randy Orton, he won't make the same mistake that

<v Speaker 1>he made at Sunday night's main event. Not a promo

<v Speaker 1>that really yielded anything terribly different. He didn't really say

<v Speaker 1>anything terribly different. He didn't lean one way or the other.

<v Speaker 1>I know people are still kind of grasping at the

<v Speaker 1>possibility that maybe we're going to get heel Cody Rhodes

<v Speaker 1>out of this. And increasingly, it's looking like that's just

<v Speaker 1>not going to happen. They want you to believe it.

<v Speaker 1>They're going to string us along as long as they

<v Speaker 1>possibly can with this belief that maybe Cody is going

<v Speaker 1>to do what he teased here in this sit-down interview,

<v Speaker 1>which is embrace the dark side and go down a

<v Speaker 1>different path and we'll see a different Cody Rhodes. That's

<v Speaker 1>what they want you to think. And like I said,

<v Speaker 1>they're just going to keep teasing it and teasing it

<v Speaker 1>and teasing it. If we get it, I still think

<v Speaker 1>it's not until next year. I mean, I don't think

<v Speaker 1>it's anything that we're going to be seeing anytime soon.

<v Speaker 1>Cody would benefit from. Hopefully it will still happen. Again,

<v Speaker 1>first half of this match was just not good. It

<v Speaker 1>wasn't good. It was a lot of just, there was

<v Speaker 1>a lot of awkwardness and there was a lot of,

<v Speaker 1>especially with like JC and then Alexa, there were some

<v Speaker 1>spots where they were very tentative. Although that's something I

<v Speaker 1>notice in a lot of Jade matches. It just wasn't very,

<v Speaker 1>it was moving in slow motion. Anyway, after a break,

<v Speaker 1>JC had put Alexa on the top rope. She was

<v Speaker 1>looking for a superplex. And Jade steps into the ring.

<v Speaker 1>And she gets underneath them to do the Tower of

<v Speaker 1>Doom spot. Where she power bombs them as the suplex

<v Speaker 1>is taking place. Jade, she got underneath them, but to

<v Speaker 1>say that she powerbombed them would be overstating it because,

<v Speaker 1>I don't know, she was late or just out of

<v Speaker 1>position or whatever it was. She didn't really do much

<v Speaker 1>of anything. She was just, she was standing in the position,

<v Speaker 1>but she didn't really do much. So she threw Jaycee

<v Speaker 1>into the corner and she went back and forth, opposite corners,

<v Speaker 1>opposite corner attacks on Jaycee and Alexa, but then ultimately

<v Speaker 1>she crashed and burned because jade posted herself in the

<v Speaker 1>corner shoulder first so bliss went on an offensive uh

<v Speaker 1>streak here for a little bit on jc threw her

<v Speaker 1>out of the ring hit a cannonball off the apron

<v Speaker 1>to jc outside on the floor jade slammed alexa onto

<v Speaker 1>the apron but then she got pushed backwards into the

<v Speaker 1>steel steps by jc so back inside bliss got destroyed

<v Speaker 1>by the running knee from jc still was not enough

<v Speaker 1>for the win Jaycee, she ended up crashing face-first into

<v Speaker 1>the turnbuckle, and Alexa went up top. So Jaycee, just

<v Speaker 1>by nature and instinct, I guess, rolled out to the floor.

<v Speaker 1>So she was able to avoid twisted bliss. And Alexa

<v Speaker 1>instead decided to do a dive off the top rope, down,

<v Speaker 1>double crossbody, took down Jade and Jaycee out on the floor.

<v Speaker 1>So in the ring, Alexa connected with Sister Abigail. Jade, though,

<v Speaker 1>stopped the count by pulling the referee. interrupting the fall.

<v Speaker 1>And again, she was late. She was late. And so

<v Speaker 1>that was the idea that she was going to break

<v Speaker 1>up the pin, but it didn't look right because the referee,

<v Speaker 1>Daphne LeSean is going down, right? One, two. And then

<v Speaker 1>she had to slow up and look over and look

<v Speaker 1>as she was waiting for Jade and Jade got there,

<v Speaker 1>but she got there a little late. So it looked

<v Speaker 1>kind of awkward, although nothing as bad as what we

<v Speaker 1>saw in the main event on that spot. So anyway,

<v Speaker 1>that interrupted the fall. Alexa went after Jade, went for

<v Speaker 1>Sister Abigail. That got countered into jaded. Jade sat back

<v Speaker 1>on the pin, had the match won, but ate a

<v Speaker 1>super kick by Jaycee. And Jaycee then covered Alexa and

<v Speaker 1>stole the... BlissFan, I'm so sorry, but she covered Alexa

<v Speaker 1>and stole the win. And my first thought, I have

<v Speaker 1>many thoughts that went through my head as I was

<v Speaker 1>watching this. But my first thought was, well, at least

<v Speaker 1>Jaycee qualified for this ladder match because she didn't qualify

<v Speaker 1>for the one that she should have back in August

<v Speaker 1>at SummerSlam. So at least she made it into the

<v Speaker 1>Money in the Bank one. I like the outcome. Let

<v Speaker 1>me just say that. Jaycee going over. I like that move.

<v Speaker 1>It's the right move. The match, not so much. This

<v Speaker 1>was rough, especially the first half of this. But even

<v Speaker 1>the second half wasn't all that great. And here's the

<v Speaker 1>the participants hit their finish only for someone else to

<v Speaker 1>steal the pin. In the women's Money in the Bank match,

<v Speaker 1>we had someone hit their finish only for one of

<v Speaker 1>the other participants to steal the pin. This happened on

<v Speaker 1>the same show. See, this is what happens when you

<v Speaker 1>outsource your creative to ChatGPT. This is the sort of

<v Speaker 1>thing you end up with. This should not happen. This

<v Speaker 1>should not happen on the same show. And if they're

<v Speaker 1>not outsourcing their creative to a fucking computer, then one

<v Speaker 1>hand is not communicating with the other hand. One hand

<v Speaker 1>doesn't know what the other hand is doing. You have agents,

<v Speaker 1>and you have people who are assigned to matches, and

<v Speaker 1>we know from Unreal just how micromanaged everything is to

<v Speaker 1>the move in these matches. How do you not realize, hey,

<v Speaker 1>we're doing the same shit in the second match that

<v Speaker 1>we already did in the first match? And not just

<v Speaker 1>with one spot, but like at least two different spots,

<v Speaker 1>including the finish. So maybe we ought to change one

<v Speaker 1>Money in the Bank qualifying match next week with Charlotte

<v Speaker 1>said that he should have betrayed him a long time ago.

<v Speaker 1>from each other wrestling for the WWE title, but tonight

<v Speaker 1>it became a reality. Owens was after Sami right from

<v Speaker 1>the opening bell. They were off to the races, and

<v Speaker 1>they were off to a commercial break about a minute

<v Speaker 1>into this. Later on, Owens took his head off with

<v Speaker 1>a super kick as Sami came off the top. Both

<v Speaker 1>men were down. Cannonball into the corner by Owens, who

<v Speaker 1>hit an attitude adjustment. To Sammy, I guess in honor

<v Speaker 1>of him beating John Cena in his debut here in

<v Speaker 1>this building. He had to throw a little attitude adjustment

<v Speaker 1>in there. Was not enough for the win, though. Sammy

<v Speaker 1>avoided the pop-up powerbomb. He countered a stunner into a

<v Speaker 1>blue thunderbomb for a two-count. That sent us into another break.

<v Speaker 1>So they ended up on top. Owens head-butted him off,

<v Speaker 1>followed with a swanton bomb. This is where the fans

<v Speaker 1>really started biting on these near-falls. Here comes Johnny Gargano.

<v Speaker 1>You could set your watch to it at this point.

<v Speaker 1>Johnny comes out with Candice. Distracts the referee. Candice gets

<v Speaker 1>up on the apron on the other side. Referee doesn't

<v Speaker 1>see this. And she hits Owens into the ring with

<v Speaker 1>a diving tornado DDT. Spiked him on his head. So

<v Speaker 1>Sammy lines up for a haluba kick and connects. Owens, though,

<v Speaker 1>kicks out at two. So now Sammy is going to

<v Speaker 1>try for another Haluba kick. This time, though, Owens counters

<v Speaker 1>into a pop-up powerbomb and a stunner. And he's got

<v Speaker 1>him beat. Johnny reaches in, though, and he places Sammy's

<v Speaker 1>foot on the bottom rope for the break. And a

<v Speaker 1>very pissed-off Kevin Owens then goes after Johnny Gargano and

<v Speaker 1>sends him a few times into the barricade. So Owens

<v Speaker 1>now starts to disassemble the top part of the announce desk. Sammy, though,

<v Speaker 1>meets him outside. Owens Delivers a back suplex, lifts him up,

<v Speaker 1>dumps him on top of the desk. Down goes Sammy.

<v Speaker 1>The whole thing collapses. The referee is trying to tell

<v Speaker 1>Owens that you've got to get him in the ring.

<v Speaker 1>You can't win the title outside. So he gets back

<v Speaker 1>in the ring, and Johnny grabs the WWE title belt,

<v Speaker 1>and he gets into the ring. He eats a stunner, though,

<v Speaker 1>from Owens. So now Candice distracts the referee again. And

<v Speaker 1>guess who showed up? The man we were told who

<v Speaker 1>was not even here. The former champion, CM Punk. He

<v Speaker 1>shows up and he blasts Owens in the head with

<v Speaker 1>the WWE title. And then Sami Zayn comes over and

<v Speaker 1>he kicks CM Punk off the apron. So Owens is down.

<v Speaker 1>Sami is down. But now he's making the slow crawl

<v Speaker 1>towards Kevin Owens. The very dramatic slow crawl. Because Owens

<v Speaker 1>looks like he's out cold. He drapes one arm over Owens.

<v Speaker 1>And the referee, Ryan Tran, he drops down. He counts one.

<v Speaker 1>He counts two. And he holds up the count because

<v Speaker 1>nothing happens. Except after what would have been the three count,

<v Speaker 1>Owens very weakly and very slowly sort of kind of

<v Speaker 1>lips up his shoulder off the mat. which is why

<v Speaker 1>I said at the beginning of the review what I think,

<v Speaker 1>and again, I could be totally wrong here, but what

<v Speaker 1>I think happened here is that he may have gotten

<v Speaker 1>his bell rung and didn't know where he was. He

<v Speaker 1>was clearly supposed to kick out and didn't, but Owens

<v Speaker 1>is a pro. If he didn't kick out, there's obviously

<v Speaker 1>a really good reason for it, and so that's what

<v Speaker 1>I think happened, because the whole thing was very, very weird.

<v Speaker 1>He held up the count. He had no business holding

<v Speaker 1>up the count, but Clearly, he knew that this was

<v Speaker 1>not supposed to be the finish, and so what do

<v Speaker 1>you do? You panic in that situation. You have a

<v Speaker 1>split second to make a decision, and it's on the

<v Speaker 1>talent to kick out when they're supposed to kick out.

<v Speaker 1>If they don't kick out, that's not the referee's fault.

<v Speaker 1>The referee can only do what... The referee's supposed to

<v Speaker 1>count the fall, right? You could hold up the count

<v Speaker 1>and look like a fucking idiot like he did, or

<v Speaker 1>you could count. In this situation, he should have counted,

<v Speaker 1>but he made the decision that he made, and I'm

<v Speaker 1>not going to fault him for it because... You know,

<v Speaker 1>if I were in that situation, I'd probably shit a brick.

<v Speaker 1>It's like, I don't want to fuck up the match

<v Speaker 1>these guys are having. Like, that's the worst thing you

<v Speaker 1>could possibly do. And I get it. Like, if you're

<v Speaker 1>the referee in a situation like that, I don't envy them.

<v Speaker 1>Because you got these two guys that are in the

<v Speaker 1>middle of this 15-minute main event WWE championship match. Time

<v Speaker 1>is ticking away. You're live on USA. You only have

<v Speaker 1>so much time left in the show. You don't want

<v Speaker 1>to fuck up the match that these two guys are having.

<v Speaker 1>You don't want them or the fans to look at

<v Speaker 1>it and go, oh, this was great, but the referee

<v Speaker 1>fucked it all up. Right. So the last thing you

<v Speaker 1>want to do is take it upon yourself to end

<v Speaker 1>the match prematurely when they still have shit to do.

<v Speaker 1>Looking back at what they did, I don't know if

<v Speaker 1>they called an audible and they were supposed to do

<v Speaker 1>other stuff. But again, maybe Owens was really loopy. And

<v Speaker 1>so they're like, let's just do a kick and get

<v Speaker 1>out of here. Or if that was the plan. All

<v Speaker 1>they did after this was get Owens in the corner

<v Speaker 1>so that Sammy could hit a halluva kick and that

<v Speaker 1>he pinned him anyway. So you may as well have

<v Speaker 1>just counted the fall there. Sammy retains and you're out.

<v Speaker 1>But again, I don't know what was planned and what wasn't.

<v Speaker 1>So it was just an unfortunate, you know, botch. Whoever's

<v Speaker 1>fault it was may not have been anybody's fault, but

<v Speaker 1>it happened. It sucked. It did take away from the

<v Speaker 1>finish of the match. It didn't take away from the

<v Speaker 1>rest of the match, which I thought was a very

<v Speaker 1>good match, you know, otherwise that these two had. But

<v Speaker 1>in the end, he pinned Kevin Owens and retained the

<v Speaker 1>WWE title. And when the match was over, Punk dropped

<v Speaker 1>Sami with a GTS, and then he also dropped Owens.

<v Speaker 1>And that is how SmackDown went off the air. So

<v Speaker 1>between the botch there and the interference and everything, that

<v Speaker 1>took the match down a few notches. But outside of that,

<v Speaker 1>they had a very good main event. I think it

<v Speaker 1>would be impossible for the two of these guys here

<v Speaker 1>to have anything but at least a good match, if

<v Speaker 1>not a very good match. God knows they've worked together

<v Speaker 1>enough over the years that they've got this shit down pat.

<v Speaker 1>I mean, they don't even have to think. They don't

<v Speaker 1>even have to think. They know what they're going to

<v Speaker 1>do before they even do it. Like, brothers, it would

<v Speaker 1>be impossible for them to have a bad match. But

<v Speaker 1>they're going to have to cool it with all these

<v Speaker 1>nonsense finishes. I get that they're really trying to reinforce, okay,

<v Speaker 1>we got like a three- or four-way thing going on here,

<v Speaker 1>and ultimately this feels like we're heading towards maybe a

<v Speaker 1>fatal four-way with Gargano involved. I suppose we could be

<v Speaker 1>getting a Punk, Owens, and Zayn triple threat. It's going

<v Speaker 1>to be one of those two. Gargano is firmly entrenched

<v Speaker 1>in this, though. And he already had a singles match

<v Speaker 1>for the championship. So... It's very possible to see, okay,

<v Speaker 1>he's not going to get another singles match, but that

<v Speaker 1>he'll be part of a four-way. Especially if they don't

<v Speaker 1>want to, let's say, put Punk, Owens, and Sami in

<v Speaker 1>the ring and necessarily pin any of them. Gargano may

<v Speaker 1>end up being the fall guy. We'll put him in there.

<v Speaker 1>He'll be the fourth guy for the purposes of taking

<v Speaker 1>the losing fall. Whoever wins, whether it's Sami retaining or

<v Speaker 1>Owens finally winning the belt or whatever it may be,

<v Speaker 1>We want Johnny in there so that Johnny can do

<v Speaker 1>the J-O-B. That may be why he ends up being

<v Speaker 1>in a four-way situation if that's what we end up with.

<v Speaker 1>But hey, at least Sammy, now we know, Sammy Zane

<v Speaker 1>will surpass his initial run of nine days as WWE champion.

<v Speaker 1>He will now have the longest WWE title reign of

<v Speaker 1>his career. Long may it continue. Hopefully it goes well

<v Speaker 1>beyond nine days. Maybe he'll get 39 or 49 days
