<v Speaker 1>You're waking up to Denver's Morning.
<v Speaker 2>Show with Nina and Josh.
<v Speaker 1>Mix 100.
<v Speaker 3>We are in the beginning stages of October here, so
<v Speaker 3>it's officially spooky season and all these celebs are kind
<v Speaker 3>of getting in on that action as well, especially when
<v Speaker 3>it comes to Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>it kicked off last Thursday, and a couple of celebs
<v Speaker 3>played along in costume. I didn't realize that sometimes they
<v Speaker 3>do this, which is kind of cool. They dress up
<v Speaker 3>as the people that are scaring you when you go
<v Speaker 3>to Universal Studios.
<v Speaker 1>No way.
<v Speaker 2>Sometimes. Not all the time.
<v Speaker 1>That's cool.
<v Speaker 2>But sometimes.
<v Speaker 3>And for opening night, Jack Osborne and his daughter Pearl,
<v Speaker 3>they did the honors at a new Ozzy Osbourne dedicated
<v Speaker 3>haunted house.
<v Speaker 2>So isn't that sweet?
<v Speaker 1>I feel like that one's scary, too.
<v Speaker 2>I know, exactly. So it's called Ozzy Osbourne, Prince of Darkness.
<v Speaker 3>And Jack and his daughter, they were turned into bloody
<v Speaker 3>bat-priest hybrids.
<v Speaker 1>Wow.
<v Speaker 2>But, you know, it goes along with the Ozzy theme, right?
<v Speaker 1>Especially the bat.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly, exactly. But they had a lot of fun. He
<v Speaker 2>put a couple of clips online and just showed off
<v Speaker 2>all of the amazing makeup work and the costumes and
<v Speaker 2>all of that. And them scaring everyone. And they just
<v Speaker 2>had a lot of fun. And it was just really cute.
<v Speaker 3>And I wonder if in a way, you know, that
<v Speaker 3>was very healing for Jack since his father had passed away.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, absolutely.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, playing homage to him.
<v Speaker 3>So it was just really, really a cool thing that
<v Speaker 3>he was able to do with his daughter over the weekend.
<v Speaker 1>Well, that's cute. And that would be something really cool
<v Speaker 1>to actually take part in, you know, and be a
<v Speaker 1>part of as well. And also experience as like a
<v Speaker 1>fan of it. I think that'd be really cool because
<v Speaker 1>those Aussie fans are amazing. diehards, right?
<v Speaker 2>Yes, exactly.
<v Speaker 1>Well, Zach Bryan's in the news. He just did a
<v Speaker 1>two-night stand at Gillette Stadium, and why is that important
<v Speaker 1>at all? Well, Gillette Stadium is owned by Robert Kraft,
<v Speaker 1>and that whole thing with Macklemore and Robert Kraft and
<v Speaker 1>Ed Sheeran that we all talked about for weeks on
<v Speaker 1>end is kind of coming back to light, because Zach
<v Speaker 1>Bryan decided to wear a free Palestine t-shirt on night
<v Speaker 1>two of back-to-back shows of the Gillette Stadium tour. The
<v Speaker 1>shirt also featured us saying an appeal to heaven, which
<v Speaker 1>is a Revolutionary War slogan tied to George Washington. I
<v Speaker 1>didn't know that.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know about that. Yeah, I don't know about
<v Speaker 2>that part.
<v Speaker 1>All right. Well, this gesture appeared directed at Robert Kraft.
<v Speaker 1>I think anybody that wears anything to do with Palestine
<v Speaker 1>at that stadium is going to be kind of tied
<v Speaker 1>to him. For sure. And we all know what happened there.
<v Speaker 1>He kind of, Robert Kraft kind of told, you know, Macklemore,
<v Speaker 1>all that stuff, made donations, blah, blah, blah. We know
<v Speaker 1>that story already. Well, several other bandmates, joined Brian in
<v Speaker 1>his show with Solidarity. Nate Head wore a Gaza jersey
<v Speaker 1>with one person's name on there that was killed in
<v Speaker 1>Palestine in January of 2024 due to Israeli forces. And
<v Speaker 1>then another one wore a green Palestine's jersey. But the
<v Speaker 1>thing that is important about this as well is Brian's
<v Speaker 1>second show actually broke the venue's all-time attendance record. This
<v Speaker 1>dude had so many people there Which is, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>a tribute to his good music writing and his band's
<v Speaker 1>performance and everything like that. But also at the same time,
<v Speaker 1>I don't think people are starting to really care what
<v Speaker 1>you're standing for, which I like. If you have good
<v Speaker 1>music and you play good shows, people still want to come.
<v Speaker 1>And that's really important.
<v Speaker 2>For sure. One thing I will say, you said he
<v Speaker 2>wore that t-shirt one night. He wore it both nights.
<v Speaker 1>Did he wear it both nights?
<v Speaker 3>He wore it both nights. And that first night, it
<v Speaker 3>was kind of hush hush. No one said anything. I
<v Speaker 3>think Zach might have posted it on his Instagram and
<v Speaker 3>some people on the internet said stuff. but then he
<v Speaker 3>wore it the second night as well, and that's when
<v Speaker 3>he broke that attendance record, so.
<v Speaker 2>It was a little bit of a bigger deal, I guess.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, absolutely, and I think, again, it just goes to
<v Speaker 1>show I love that we can believe what we want
<v Speaker 1>to believe, and you can still come together and enjoy
<v Speaker 1>good music. That makes me very happy, to be honest. Totally, absolutely.
<v Speaker 2>I love it.
<v Speaker 3>And that is your Celebrity Quickie on Denver's Morning Show.
<v Speaker 3>Catch it again with more stories every hour on the
<v Speaker 3>15s on Mix 100, and coming up in just a
<v Speaker 3>couple of minutes, Josh and I are going to talk
<v Speaker 3>about our weekend. Some of it we spent together, some
<v Speaker 3>of it we spent apart, but both of us spent
<v Speaker 3>it a little bit heartbroken.
<v Speaker 2>So I know we'll talk about it coming up on
<v Speaker 2>Mix 100.
<v Speaker 3>So Josh, over the weekend, we did see each other.
<v Speaker 3>We were hanging out in the suite at the Avs
<v Speaker 3>game on Saturday.
<v Speaker 1>Little Suite Life action there. That was fun. Right.
<v Speaker 2>It was fun. And we got a W. We got
<v Speaker 2>a win. That was great.
<v Speaker 1>Nina, there was not a lot of winning over this weekend,
<v Speaker 1>and it's kind of heartbreaking. I mean, the Nuggets, preseason action,
<v Speaker 1>so it doesn't really, really matter. They lost last night.
<v Speaker 1>The Broncos, that was the big one.
<v Speaker 2>Man, that was hard.
<v Speaker 1>Big L in San Fran, and that was such a
<v Speaker 1>bummer because not only did they take the loss there, However,
<v Speaker 1>a lot of injuries happened. That's not good. We're still
<v Speaker 1>waiting on a few, hoping, fingers crossed, toes crossed, that
<v Speaker 1>they're not major injuries. Because those are some major players,
<v Speaker 1>especially our cornerbacks one and two there. Pat Sertan getting injured,
<v Speaker 1>hoping it's not a big deal. But also CU and
<v Speaker 1>CSU both lost. So it was a major losing weekend.
<v Speaker 1>And the lone bright spot was the game that you
<v Speaker 1>and I were at.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, for sure.
<v Speaker 1>That's kind of nice. You know what?
<v Speaker 2>And I know we're good luck, obviously, but we can't
<v Speaker 2>be everywhere.
<v Speaker 1>No, we're only two people, Nina. That's the hard part.
<v Speaker 1>I know. It's such a bummer. I did want to
<v Speaker 1>talk about one thing quickly that I found kind of
<v Speaker 1>funny in this entire weekend of losses. CSU, go Rammies.
<v Speaker 1>I'm a Colorado State alum, so this does kind of
<v Speaker 1>pertain to me. I follow the team. I know they're
<v Speaker 1>not great. However, they did get a new coaching staff
<v Speaker 1>this offseason. Jim Mora is an awesome dude. He's been
<v Speaker 1>around coaching for forever. He fired the defensive coordinator halfway
<v Speaker 1>through the game.
<v Speaker 2>What?
<v Speaker 1>Literally at halftime.
<v Speaker 2>During the game?
<v Speaker 1>During the game. At halftime told him. Take off your
<v Speaker 1>headset and don't come back. Stop calling plays.
<v Speaker 2>Crazy. But why? Did he say something that was inappropriate?
<v Speaker 1>No, the thing that happened, I think, I think was
<v Speaker 1>CSU has been able to score a lot of points
<v Speaker 1>this year. They've been on offense pretty darn good. However,
<v Speaker 1>on the defensive side of the ball, they have allowed
<v Speaker 1>so many touchdowns, Nina. So, so, so many points on
<v Speaker 1>the defensive side. And that is something that you cannot do. So,
<v Speaker 1>In the 56-26, I believe, score, the route that CSU
<v Speaker 1>took on Saturday, halfway through that game, head coach just
<v Speaker 1>had enough. He was like, you got to stop. Wow.
<v Speaker 1>Just go home, dude. Just get out of here. Go home.
<v Speaker 1>Take off your headset. And so the CSU defensive coordinator
<v Speaker 1>was like, all right. Okay, I guess. Sure, whatever.
<v Speaker 2>What else am I going to do?
<v Speaker 1>I know. Yikes. I've never seen anything like that.
<v Speaker 2>Yikes.
<v Speaker 1>Pro level, college level, I've never seen anybody do that.
<v Speaker 1>literally get fired halfway through the game. So that was
<v Speaker 1>definitely an interesting thing to see.
<v Speaker 2>A little shocking. Did that make national headlines or anything
<v Speaker 2>anywhere else?
<v Speaker 1>Oh, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>No, it was everywhere.
<v Speaker 1>It was all over social media, too. I mean, X
<v Speaker 1>blew up with it. They're like, oh, yeah, by the way,
<v Speaker 1>CSU fired their defensive coordinator halfway through the game.
<v Speaker 2>That's crazy.
<v Speaker 1>Like, what?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. That's a little, I don't know, is that uncalled for?
<v Speaker 2>Was that something that could have waited?
<v Speaker 3>Or was the coach just truly at his limit Is
<v Speaker 3>it justified to be like, okay, we're done?
<v Speaker 1>Okay, so he had a post-game interview, and they were like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>we noticed the defensive coordinator was not on the sidelines
<v Speaker 1>the second half of the game. And he was like, yeah, no,
<v Speaker 1>I told him to stop calling plays. He was like,
<v Speaker 1>he will also be relieved of duties and will not
<v Speaker 1>be on the coaching staff anymore.
<v Speaker 2>Wow.
<v Speaker 1>I know, he was unapologetic.
<v Speaker 2>He just doubled down.
<v Speaker 1>Unapologetic about it, yeah. Wow, okay. Which... Look for him.
<v Speaker 2>If you're going to make a decision like that, you
<v Speaker 2>better stick with it.
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely. Stick with your guns. I mean, he didn't back
<v Speaker 1>down at all. So if you know ball and want
<v Speaker 1>to go live up in Fort Collins, they have an opening.
<v Speaker 1>There is an opening.
<v Speaker 2>Check it out.
<v Speaker 1>Go Rammies.
<v Speaker 3>Three things you need to know before you go into
<v Speaker 3>the office today. Like we are getting ready for the
<v Speaker 3>November election. So Colorado voters are going to start seeing
<v Speaker 3>their ballots in their mailbox as of this week. And
<v Speaker 3>election officials are are trying to make sure that you
<v Speaker 3>know that they are testing all the machines very routinely.
<v Speaker 3>They have an internal test, they do a public test,
<v Speaker 3>and they do a post-election test numerous times throughout the years.
<v Speaker 3>And this assures that the machines are counting your votes correctly.
<v Speaker 3>If you decide to mail in your ballot, drop it off,
<v Speaker 3>or do it in person, either way, just know your
<v Speaker 3>vote very much counts.
<v Speaker 2>It is important.
<v Speaker 3>So just make sure you look at all that info
<v Speaker 3>early and you get that vote in because these ballots
<v Speaker 3>are looking pretty big this year, just so you know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. And I think it's one of the things that
<v Speaker 1>people are always like, you know, do our votes actually count? Yes,
<v Speaker 1>they do. And it's something that it doesn't matter who
<v Speaker 1>you vote for, what you vote for. It's kind of
<v Speaker 1>what you should do. You know, it's the right thing
<v Speaker 1>to do if you are able to. And they make
<v Speaker 1>it very easy for you. You don't have to go
<v Speaker 1>in there and vote anymore. You can mail it in.
<v Speaker 1>You can drop it off, whatever you want to do.
<v Speaker 1>However you want to do it. And to be ensured
<v Speaker 1>that the vote counts.
<v Speaker 2>I like that.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Most definitely. So just make sure you look at all
<v Speaker 2>that info early.
<v Speaker 1>All right, Nina. This is an interesting story. First of all,
<v Speaker 1>I want to ask you, do you think you have
<v Speaker 1>your Halloween costume picked out or narrowed down yet?
<v Speaker 2>Oh, my gosh. My husband's driving me insane because I
<v Speaker 2>thought we had a costume kind of figured out. And
<v Speaker 2>now he's changing his mind. He doesn't like it anymore.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, he's the one changing his mind. Yeah. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>And we don't always do couples costumes, but we kind
<v Speaker 3>of decided, yeah, we wanted to do one this year,
<v Speaker 3>and now he's changing his mind. So I'm like, figure
<v Speaker 3>it out, please, and let me know ASAP.
<v Speaker 1>Well, first of all, that's cute, but I can give
<v Speaker 1>you a little tidbit on what not to go as
<v Speaker 1>this year, okay? Please. So there has been a poll
<v Speaker 1>of what is the most outplayed costume over the years,
<v Speaker 1>and it is by far, in a way... Sexy anything.
<v Speaker 1>They're saying in a new survey, everyone has talked about
<v Speaker 1>the sexy version of put it in, anything. Sexy cat,
<v Speaker 1>sexy mouse, sexy SpongeBob. It's just overplayed. It's not funny anymore.
<v Speaker 1>It's too many people. do it. They also said the
<v Speaker 1>runner up for those costumes was pirate costumes, I guess
<v Speaker 1>way too many people do pirate costumes. They said that
<v Speaker 1>Joker costume, which I think is very funny because I
<v Speaker 1>was the Joker last year, so that one's outplayed, and
<v Speaker 1>they said anything else like that, cowboys, cowgirls, Harley Quinn,
<v Speaker 1>hippies apparently, Minions, Mimes, and then Where's Waldo. They said
<v Speaker 1>that is absolutely the most outplayed ones altogether. Yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>guess so. And then they said, this one kind of
<v Speaker 1>bummed me out a little bit though. Adults are kind
<v Speaker 1>of souring on dressing up altogether. They said about 25%
<v Speaker 1>of adults say they don't plan to even, or they
<v Speaker 1>do plan to dress up for Halloween this year. But 70,
<v Speaker 1>around 70% of Americans said that you're never too old
<v Speaker 1>to dress up even though they're not going to.
<v Speaker 2>So I'm like, you guys are like, I support you,
<v Speaker 2>but I'm not going to do it.
<v Speaker 1>Exactly. You know, it's like Scrooge McDuck over here. I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>what are you doing? You're saying, oh yeah, it's totally fine.
<v Speaker 1>You're never too old to dress up. I'm just not
<v Speaker 1>gonna do it. I'm like, let's have some fun, right?
<v Speaker 3>Well, and Halloween being on a Saturday this year, I
<v Speaker 3>think it gives everyone a reason to go out and
<v Speaker 3>have fun this year.
<v Speaker 2>If you didn't do anything the last few years, this
<v Speaker 2>is the year to do it.
<v Speaker 3>On a Saturday, go out, have some Halloween fun, whether
<v Speaker 3>it's Friday or Saturday night.
<v Speaker 2>You know people are gonna be partying all weekend.
<v Speaker 1>See, and that gives you the go, like that's the
<v Speaker 1>green light right there. You can party all weekend, and
<v Speaker 1>that's what I'm gonna be doing. I'm excited for it.
<v Speaker 2>Right, so there you go. Have some fun with Halloween
<v Speaker 2>this year.
<v Speaker 1>Just don't be sexy. No.
<v Speaker 3>And Denver's first ever Porch Fest hit the Baker neighborhood
<v Speaker 3>this past Saturday. So a lot of big cities have
<v Speaker 3>done Porch Fest, like Chicago, Atlanta, Boston. But to everyone's surprise,
<v Speaker 3>it has not come to Denver until this year.
<v Speaker 2>Porch Fest got.
<v Speaker 3>193 local and small bands at 85 different locations on
<v Speaker 3>the Porch's porch. of restaurants and people's actual houses along
<v Speaker 3>South Broadway this past weekend, and people had a great time.
<v Speaker 2>I heard about it earlier.
<v Speaker 3>I did not go, but I didn't realize it was
<v Speaker 3>this past weekend. And it looked cool, Josh. Like, literally,
<v Speaker 3>you're in someone's front yard.
<v Speaker 1>Okay.
<v Speaker 3>And they open up the front yard of their house.
<v Speaker 3>They're setting it up. A band is playing on the porch,
<v Speaker 3>and you're in their yard singing. listening to live music.
<v Speaker 3>And there's a band on this porch right here, and
<v Speaker 3>then another one two doors down, and then another one
<v Speaker 3>down the street over this way, and then another one
<v Speaker 3>at the restaurant around the corner. And you just bop
<v Speaker 3>around to these different bands playing on different porches.
<v Speaker 1>That's sick, first of all. I've never heard of this.
<v Speaker 1>I've never heard of anything like this. So this is
<v Speaker 1>a completely new concept to me. I'm a huge fan
<v Speaker 1>of that. First of all, I love live music. I
<v Speaker 1>think it's one of my favorite pastimes. I absolutely love
<v Speaker 1>going to concerts, whether they're big, small, doesn't matter. So
<v Speaker 1>this idea to me is fantastic. Isn't it cool? And
<v Speaker 1>I would have loved to be a part of this.
<v Speaker 2>I know.
<v Speaker 3>So this was the first year that it came to Denver.
<v Speaker 3>So I'm hoping it comes back for year two. And
<v Speaker 3>next year we'll be more on top of it so
<v Speaker 3>that way we can actually go.
<v Speaker 2>And hey, Josh, who knows? Maybe I can get you
<v Speaker 2>on someone's porch and you just play a bunch of
<v Speaker 2>covers of songs.
<v Speaker 1>I will jam the head. heck out of that are
<v Speaker 1>you kidding me absolutely.
<v Speaker 2>Okay all right next year porch fest we got to
<v Speaker 2>get josh on someone's porch sounds good josh.
<v Speaker 3>You know there are a lot of problems that are
<v Speaker 3>coming out of this very warm winter or very warm
<v Speaker 3>summer that we had a very warm year fires all
<v Speaker 3>of that We know that the bears right now are everywhere.
<v Speaker 2>They're getting ready for hibernation.
<v Speaker 3>They are looking for last minute food everywhere. I saw
<v Speaker 3>them up at a farmer's market in Aspen. I think
<v Speaker 3>it was last weekend. Larkspur has been having a huge
<v Speaker 3>issue with bears coming around in the neighborhoods.
<v Speaker 2>And now bears everywhere. are going for some Burger King.
<v Speaker 1>Well, what's funny about this is I think bears, because
<v Speaker 1>of them being so close to humans this last year, essentially,
<v Speaker 1>they're starting to get a little comfortable with the human food, okay?
<v Speaker 2>Too comfortable.
<v Speaker 1>There is a bear that was caught on camera in
<v Speaker 1>Tennessee because he was breaking into a car and because
<v Speaker 1>it smelled leftover Burger King on the inside. So first
<v Speaker 1>of all, as humans, don't leave food in your car.
<v Speaker 1>Right now, especially, it is the wrong time to do that, okay?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, they're even warning about pumpkins on your front porch.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, seriously.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>And it's also a great time to have a ring camera.
<v Speaker 1>So what happened was security camera footage caught a black
<v Speaker 1>bear approaching a vehicle and essentially smashing a window to
<v Speaker 1>get the leftover food inside after breaking the glass. This
<v Speaker 1>was the funniest part. After breaking the glass, Nina, I
<v Speaker 1>saw the bear- Like, it makes a noise, okay, right?
<v Speaker 1>The glass shatters. What the bear does is so human,
<v Speaker 1>it's almost creepy.
<v Speaker 2>Is it weird? What happened?
<v Speaker 1>He looks around to see, like... Anybody hear that? Anybody
<v Speaker 1>see what's going on here? No. Like, literally checks 360
<v Speaker 1>degrees just to make sure nobody's there and then goes,
<v Speaker 1>all right, I think I can grab the food. So
<v Speaker 1>he goes back inside the car and starts just... horking
<v Speaker 1>down the Burger King, right?
<v Speaker 2>Of course.
<v Speaker 1>It's so funny. So unfortunately, the car did suffer the
<v Speaker 1>shattered window. It had some broken trim, some torn up,
<v Speaker 1>like the bear, it's a bear in your car. Right.
<v Speaker 1>It's going to be pretty rough and tumble around it. Right.
<v Speaker 1>But I mean, seriously, to just get there for a
<v Speaker 1>Whopper or whatever it got in there. I mean, I
<v Speaker 1>don't know what they had, some chicken fries, maybe. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know.
<v Speaker 2>And like to leave your leftover Burger King in the car.
<v Speaker 2>I'm sorry. It's not good.
<v Speaker 1>Well, and it was overnight.
<v Speaker 2>It's not going to be good anymore.
<v Speaker 1>And I understand people are busy. Like, I have so
<v Speaker 1>many things in my hands when I carry it into
<v Speaker 1>work or into my house or whatever.
<v Speaker 2>Or maybe kids left it back there in the backseat.
<v Speaker 1>Totally understand. That is absolutely understandable. I know I left
<v Speaker 1>fries in my mom's car for about years, you know?
<v Speaker 1>It's just one of those things. But if you can,
<v Speaker 1>I mean, really try. Because bears have the sense of
<v Speaker 1>smell like none other. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>They rely on that. That's what they, they use it.
<v Speaker 2>It's a tool to find their food.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, but they'll smell the Whopper from a mile
<v Speaker 1>or two away. Like that's the thing. And so just
<v Speaker 1>be careful. This is a word to the wise. Again,
<v Speaker 1>it's still, it's crazy right now. We are, we are
<v Speaker 1>in like record breaking weather again this week, Nina, for
<v Speaker 1>a heat wave.
<v Speaker 2>It's very warm.
<v Speaker 1>The bears are going to still be out. Okay. So just,
<v Speaker 1>you know, and we know they've been in Lone Tree.
<v Speaker 1>They've been in Aspen. They've been all over the high country,
<v Speaker 1>but they've made their way down into Denver as well.
<v Speaker 1>So just, Be aware, you know, even in your trash cans,
<v Speaker 1>just make sure that you're, you know, able to not
<v Speaker 1>have the bears get in. We lock our trash cans. Like,
<v Speaker 1>I make sure my trash cans are locked away on
<v Speaker 1>the days that they're not locked. you know, set out
<v Speaker 1>for the actual trash people, you know? So I don't know,
<v Speaker 1>just be smart about it and really don't leave food
<v Speaker 1>in your car. Cause that's like the worst thing. Are
<v Speaker 1>you a type of person that leaves stuff in your
<v Speaker 1>car all the time?
<v Speaker 2>I really don't. I try not to.
<v Speaker 3>I am like, I'm going to try to like take
<v Speaker 3>care of my car, keep things clean for the most part.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, ignore besides the dog hair that.
<v Speaker 2>Is absolutely everywhere.
<v Speaker 1>That doesn't count.
<v Speaker 3>Then, yeah, I try to keep my car pretty clean.
<v Speaker 3>And they even say no gum, no mints, things like that.
<v Speaker 3>Because the bear, that's still a scent.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. They want to have minty fresh breath? Is that
<v Speaker 1>a thing? I don't know. I always have gum in
<v Speaker 1>my car. Food!
<v Speaker 2>Food to a bear. Doesn't matter if it's minty or not, Josh.
<v Speaker 1>You're just blowing bubbles in there?
<v Speaker 2>Yes, exactly. It's your Celebrity Quickie and over the weekend.
<v Speaker 3>If you were watching Saturday Night Live, you already know
<v Speaker 3>Dakota Johnson was hosting and her new bestie came along
<v Speaker 3>to support Taylor Swift.
<v Speaker 2>All of a sudden pops up on stage.
<v Speaker 1>Whoa.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so she stayed pretty much just for the intro.
<v Speaker 3>She didn't do skits or anything like that. She left
<v Speaker 3>that up to Dakota Johnson. But it was during Dakota's
<v Speaker 3>opening monologue, and the crowd absolutely loved it. And Taylor,
<v Speaker 3>for I feel like the first time, was just on
<v Speaker 3>the other side of the relationship jokes because they talked
<v Speaker 3>about Dakota's terrible dating life.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, she kind of has a history of that, doesn't she?
<v Speaker 2>She does, she does.
<v Speaker 3>And you know, it is what it is with Taylor Swift.
<v Speaker 3>And she's written songs about it. And it's just a
<v Speaker 3>very big narrative in her life.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, of course, of course.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, I bet that it was interesting for Taylor
<v Speaker 3>to truly be on the other side of it. And
<v Speaker 3>I know it was all jokes, of course, scripted, whatever,
<v Speaker 3>for SNL. But the fact that she was on the
<v Speaker 3>other side of it, it probably felt a little good
<v Speaker 3>for Taylor.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, she probably loved it. Are you kidding me?
<v Speaker 2>She's like, look at my friend. They're a hot mess
<v Speaker 2>because of boys.
<v Speaker 1>This feels great. Finally, I'm not the butt of the joke.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, come on.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly. But people were absolutely loving it. And I love
<v Speaker 2>that Taylor Swift and Dakota Johnson are new besties now.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, they're absolute besties. They've been spotted in several different areas,
<v Speaker 1>spending time together, having a good time, which is fun.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, Taylor needs someone like that that is like,
<v Speaker 1>On a level of fame to where they don't hold
<v Speaker 1>Taylor on a pedestal, you know? Yeah. Dakota's her own very,
<v Speaker 1>very famous woman. So they can just have fun together, right?
<v Speaker 2>Meanwhile, Blake Lively is at home cringing.
<v Speaker 1>We don't need to talk about her. Well, this has
<v Speaker 1>been an odd summer for Tony Romo. So the old
<v Speaker 1>Cowboys quarterback was arrested in July, I believe, for a
<v Speaker 1>DUI incident. He's been... with CBS for years and years
<v Speaker 1>now as an NFL commentator. He's a very good color commentator.
<v Speaker 1>And CBS and him said that they have finally mutually
<v Speaker 1>agreed to part ways. They said, we thank Tony for
<v Speaker 1>his contributions over the past nine years, and we wish
<v Speaker 1>him the best moving forward. Now, Tony, this does kind
<v Speaker 1>of come from what happened over the summer with the DUI. However,
<v Speaker 1>he signed a 10-year, $ 180 million deal with CBS back
<v Speaker 1>in 2020.
<v Speaker 2>Oh.
<v Speaker 1>First of all, where are our contracts coming from?
<v Speaker 2>Right? That $ 10 million.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, yeah, right? I'm thinking about that. Well, anyway,
<v Speaker 1>so the 10-year deal is not up until around the
<v Speaker 1>2030 season. So he has roughly four years and around
<v Speaker 1>$ 72 million left on his contract, okay? Whoa. So you'd
<v Speaker 1>think that when they cut ties with him, they're going
<v Speaker 1>to be like, hey, you know, we've got to negotiate
<v Speaker 1>a deal here. We'll give you some of that, but
<v Speaker 1>you're not going to get all of it. He's reportedly
<v Speaker 1>going to keep very much of that. So of the
<v Speaker 1>$ 72 million guaranteed in his contract, he's probably going to
<v Speaker 1>keep most of that.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, a contract is a contract. If you're saying
<v Speaker 2>you're going to pay me, you better pay me.
<v Speaker 1>But there's got to be outliers of like, hey, man,
<v Speaker 1>don't get arrested for a DUI. You know, like there's
<v Speaker 1>got to be some things about that. But apparently they're
<v Speaker 1>going to honor the contract. And Tony, I don't know
<v Speaker 1>if he's going to keep all of it, but still
<v Speaker 1>keeping most of the $ 72 million left on your contract
<v Speaker 1>to do nothing anymore. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>That's amazing.
<v Speaker 1>Where do I sign up for that?
<v Speaker 2>Right? They forgot that part.
<v Speaker 1>I want to be paid 72 mil to go golf. Right?
<v Speaker 2>No, for real. That's pretty incredible.
<v Speaker 1>Ridiculous.
<v Speaker 2>Okay. And Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know,
<v Speaker 2>I know. Over this weekend, it's been very interesting on
<v Speaker 2>the internet. I mean, she's been getting dragged with a
<v Speaker 2>lot of people throwing out their assumptions that she has
<v Speaker 2>something to do with her ex-fiance's death and Gypsy... It's
<v Speaker 2>very interesting.
<v Speaker 3>She's trying to get ahead of all of this by
<v Speaker 3>doing something good. She feels it is good, but other
<v Speaker 3>people are kind of side-eyeing it a little bit. So
<v Speaker 3>she is petitioning to stop cyberbullying, which she claims that
<v Speaker 3>her ex, Ken, dealt with. And she's trying to honor
<v Speaker 3>him by putting his name on it, calling Kenan's Law,
<v Speaker 3>that's his real name, otherwise known as the Online Harassment
<v Speaker 3>Reporting and Accountability Act. So she's trying to create this
<v Speaker 3>petition to create an act in honor of her ex
<v Speaker 3>who passed away. And people are like, Gypsy, can we wait?
<v Speaker 2>Can we wait?
<v Speaker 1>This is such a weird situation because obviously a loss
<v Speaker 1>of life happened. That is incredibly sad. But that being said,
<v Speaker 1>she has been really weird about it. She has. She
<v Speaker 1>really has. She kind of has. But she is in
<v Speaker 1>also a horrible position. If she didn't do it, everybody's
<v Speaker 1>going to think she did.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>But she's making it almost worse by the statements put
<v Speaker 1>out earlier of like, oh, he was already depressed and
<v Speaker 1>kind of on the verge and cyberbullied.
<v Speaker 3>The night he passed away, she was doing TMZ interviews.
<v Speaker 2>And it's like, Gypsy, no.
<v Speaker 1>It's not a good look. Like, it really isn't. And
<v Speaker 1>then on top of this, it's almost now like you're
<v Speaker 1>doing too much, sweetheart. You know, it's almost like you're
<v Speaker 1>going to the, you know, the nth degree here. What
<v Speaker 1>are you doing? It's just a very weird situation. And
<v Speaker 1>I don't know what to think. I don't know if
<v Speaker 1>she's guilty or not, you know?
<v Speaker 2>I mean, innocent until proven guilty, right?
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely.
<v Speaker 2>And so this is an ongoing investigation. I mean, they
<v Speaker 2>are insinuating it's possible that he had taken his own life.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>But again, nothing is official. We don't know anything yet.
<v Speaker 3>But Gypsy is already fighting with his sisters.
<v Speaker 2>They didn't have a good relationship to start with. And
<v Speaker 2>it's just the.
<v Speaker 3>Whole thing is just so messy. It's beyond, beyond messy.
<v Speaker 3>But Gypsy trying to do this and getting these signatures
<v Speaker 3>for this petition, it's like, girl, just sit down and
<v Speaker 3>put your phone away. Like, she needs friends right now
<v Speaker 3>to go to her house and take.
<v Speaker 2>Her phone away.
<v Speaker 1>Well, and you know what's funny is she probably doesn't
<v Speaker 1>know how to handle this because she had been in
<v Speaker 1>prison for so long. Now she's kind of acting like
<v Speaker 1>what the teenage self of us would do when we
<v Speaker 1>were tweeting our feelings back when we were 17. She's like,
<v Speaker 1>I'm feeling all these emotions. What do I do? How
<v Speaker 1>do I deal with this? And it just, it's, I
<v Speaker 1>don't know, it's exponentially worse because she's famous, too.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly, exactly. So it's just all around bad, and I
<v Speaker 2>don't know. We'll see. Time will tell what happens with
<v Speaker 2>this whole thing.
<v Speaker 3>Three things you need to know before you go into
<v Speaker 3>the office today, like the ice castles of Cripple Creek.
<v Speaker 2>They just announced that they're not happening this year.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, no.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. So they are.
<v Speaker 3>Stating operational and business considerations. But basically, it's financial as
<v Speaker 3>well as the mild weather and warm temperatures last year.
<v Speaker 3>Not really having a lot of snow or cold temperatures.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, it played a role. It really did.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, yeah. I remember last year they opened up super,
<v Speaker 1>super late. Yeah. And I believe even closed early. Like,
<v Speaker 1>they were open for like a month or something last year. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I get it, which is a bummer because those are
<v Speaker 1>really cool to see.
<v Speaker 2>They really are. And here's the thing.
<v Speaker 3>Everyone's thinking to themselves, okay, if Ice Castles and Cripple
<v Speaker 3>Creek aren't happening, don't worry, we can go up to Dylan. Now,
<v Speaker 3>no official word has come out yet, but we're waiting
<v Speaker 3>for Dylan to tell us if they are going to
<v Speaker 3>continue this year.
<v Speaker 2>We don't know.
<v Speaker 1>Isn't that scary? It's weird. It's a very weird thing.
<v Speaker 1>But I'm also thinking about Dylan and how low their
<v Speaker 1>reservoir was this year, too. I'm like, are they going
<v Speaker 1>to have ice? They barely had water this year.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, that's the thing, too, is a lot of
<v Speaker 3>water goes into making these ice castles as well.
<v Speaker 2>So I don't know. I don't know if it's going
<v Speaker 2>to happen.
<v Speaker 1>That's a bummer.
<v Speaker 2>I don't like that.
<v Speaker 3>So before you plan on going up there for the
<v Speaker 3>ice castles, just make sure you know if they're actually
<v Speaker 3>happening or not.
<v Speaker 2>But right now, Cripple Creek, it's not happening.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, that makes me sad. All right. Well, this is
<v Speaker 1>also kind of a Debbie Downer topic as well. A
<v Speaker 1>new YouGov poll shows that watching scary movies and consuming
<v Speaker 1>pumpkin-flavored foods like the PSLs and all that good stuff
<v Speaker 1>are tops of Americans' fall plans, but they are essentially
<v Speaker 1>saying that fewer Americans are planning to display Halloween decorations,
<v Speaker 1>go out, hand out candy, carve pumpkins. Like, less than
<v Speaker 1>half of Americans are going to be doing that this year,
<v Speaker 1>and I don't understand... why we're being such Debbie Downers.
<v Speaker 1>More than half Americans are saying that they don't want
<v Speaker 1>to dress up in a costume, visit a pumpkin patch,
<v Speaker 1>take their children trick-or-treating, or even attend a Halloween party.
<v Speaker 1>Smaller shares plan to maybe play tricks on friends or
<v Speaker 1>family this year, maybe go on a hayride, or maybe
<v Speaker 1>visit a haunted house. It's weird how we're not wanting
<v Speaker 1>to do this. However, I found this funny, Nina. Women
<v Speaker 1>are more likely than men to watch scary movies.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, interesting.
<v Speaker 1>Are we just wimps over here or what's going on?
<v Speaker 1>Do you like a good scary movie or no?
<v Speaker 2>I do. I grew up on scary movies.
<v Speaker 3>I watched them when I was way, way too young
<v Speaker 3>because I had older sisters that loved them.
<v Speaker 1>So you're scarred.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, exactly. So I'm like, eh, it's whatever. Blood and gore,
<v Speaker 2>bring it on.
<v Speaker 3>But my husband, on the other hand, he was very
<v Speaker 3>much like the sheltered little kid, never able to watch.
<v Speaker 2>Any of that stuff.
<v Speaker 3>And when it comes between he and I in scary movies,
<v Speaker 3>I'm more likely to be like, hey, it's October, Halloween.
<v Speaker 2>Let's throw on a horror film. And he's like, Okay,
<v Speaker 2>but we have to put the lights on.
<v Speaker 1>Watch it in the daytime. That's so funny you say
<v Speaker 1>that because for me, I was also kind of sheltered
<v Speaker 1>from that stuff. And I remember I snuck a horror movie.
<v Speaker 1>I'll never forget it. It's The Grudge. Did you ever
<v Speaker 1>see that movie?
<v Speaker 2>Yes.
<v Speaker 1>So I snuck that movie when I was very young.
<v Speaker 1>And I remember there's a very specific horrifying shower scene
<v Speaker 1>in that movie. I showered with my eyes open even
<v Speaker 1>when I washed my hair. For like five years after that.
<v Speaker 1>I was scarred.
<v Speaker 2>That's a scary one for sure. The grudge, the ring too,
<v Speaker 2>that one got me as well.
<v Speaker 1>I'll never watch it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, it's pretty bad.
<v Speaker 3>All right, the third thing you need to know, a
<v Speaker 3>Woodland Park woman is very relieved after finally receiving her
<v Speaker 3>birth certificate. So she was born in Colorado, but she
<v Speaker 3>was born in kind of a rural area, and her
<v Speaker 3>parents went the very unconventional way of not recording.
<v Speaker 2>Her birth with the state.
<v Speaker 3>Instead, they just kind of wrote it down in the
<v Speaker 3>family Bible and lived their life, but... Without a birth certificate,
<v Speaker 3>she said that she couldn't legally drive. She can't get married.
<v Speaker 3>She can't work most jobs, even though she was born
<v Speaker 3>right here in Colorado. But it's because she never received
<v Speaker 3>a birth certificate. And there's a Colorado law about delayed
<v Speaker 3>birth certificates. So this is a thing. But it made
<v Speaker 3>it too tough for her to actually get it. So
<v Speaker 3>they required a document created before a person turned 10
<v Speaker 3>in order to be able to get your new birth certificate.
<v Speaker 3>And she only had a document when she turned 11.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, my gosh. So it made it really hard for her.
<v Speaker 3>And she actually helped change the law. So a new
<v Speaker 3>rule requires one document that is 10 years old at
<v Speaker 3>the time of application, not giving a specific age that
<v Speaker 3>that document has to be created for a person.
<v Speaker 1>That's a wild story. Isn't that crazy? Essentially, to the government,
<v Speaker 1>you didn't exist. Yeah. So I feel like you could
<v Speaker 1>have gotten away with a lot. Yeah. But also, hey,
<v Speaker 1>if you just want to be a normal person and
<v Speaker 1>not like some kind of thief or something, and hey,
<v Speaker 1>I just want to get my license and get married.
<v Speaker 2>She says she felt like a ghost because she technically
<v Speaker 2>didn't exist. So perfect for Halloween. We love that.
<v Speaker 3>So influencers have entered the chat at Paris Fashion Week
<v Speaker 3>that's going on right now. And one influencer decided to
<v Speaker 3>come for Rihanna and the fashion gods said no.
<v Speaker 2>What are you doing? Sit down.
<v Speaker 1>Why would you even think that's a good idea?
<v Speaker 2>Exactly.
<v Speaker 1>I don't understand. Rihanna is so powerful and has been
<v Speaker 1>in the game way longer than before influencers even became
<v Speaker 1>a thing.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly.
<v Speaker 1>I don't understand that. Right.
<v Speaker 2>So this came from an influencer named EJ Johnson.
<v Speaker 3>He's been around for a while, but he put out
<v Speaker 3>a video complaining that the Dior show was delayed because
<v Speaker 3>Rihanna was late and they were waiting for her. So
<v Speaker 3>everyone else had to kind of wait until Rihanna showed up,
<v Speaker 3>and he put out a video saying we didn't care
<v Speaker 3>to wait for her, but obviously the entire fashion house
<v Speaker 3>cared enough, so yeah, they waited for Rihanna. Anyway, later
<v Speaker 3>that day, Karma came back around, and he was denied
<v Speaker 3>entry at another show, and someone was recording it and
<v Speaker 3>put up the video.
<v Speaker 2>That went viral of him, like... causing a fit outside
<v Speaker 2>this door, not being able to get in. And then
<v Speaker 2>Rihanna saw the video and she commented with one word.
<v Speaker 2>All she said was, damn.
<v Speaker 1>I love this. Oh, my gosh. That's so funny. And
<v Speaker 1>she doesn't need to say anything, first of all, but
<v Speaker 1>to just put one word out there.
<v Speaker 3>So she knows you were talking about her. Don't ever
<v Speaker 3>try to come for Rihanna again.
<v Speaker 2>Ever.
<v Speaker 1>That's just that's a losing situation there, buddy. That's all right.
<v Speaker 1>We learned today. That's okay. Well, hey, talk about the
<v Speaker 1>collab that no one saw coming at all. Despite their
<v Speaker 1>very sharp political differences, Eminem and Kid Rock have teamed
<v Speaker 1>up to create a brand new song called Seven Sins.
<v Speaker 1>It's a new track that's going to appear on Kid
<v Speaker 1>Rock's upcoming Christian album, first of all. What? Creating a
<v Speaker 1>Christian album. It's called Halfway to Jesus. Didn't know he
<v Speaker 1>was putting that out, but Kid Rock wrote that he
<v Speaker 1>hopes that their old time friendship, these guys were friends
<v Speaker 1>a long time ago.
<v Speaker 2>Were they?
<v Speaker 1>In the 90s, they were buddies. Kid Rock was a
<v Speaker 1>little bit more expletive with things that he said back
<v Speaker 1>in the day.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I guess he's kind of turned over a new leaf.
<v Speaker 1>We all know He's a big fan of the right
<v Speaker 1>side and all that stuff. Eminem's obviously a big fan
<v Speaker 1>of the left side. But he said he does hope
<v Speaker 1>that their friendship sets an example for people who have
<v Speaker 1>lost friends or stopped talking to family because they think differently.
<v Speaker 2>Wow.
<v Speaker 1>I am now at peak interest over what this song
<v Speaker 1>is going to sound like.
<v Speaker 2>Seriously.
<v Speaker 1>Is it going to sound like them just cursing each
<v Speaker 1>other out? Or are they actually going to put everything
<v Speaker 1>aside and create a good song? I mean, I love Eminem.
<v Speaker 1>I love his music. I've loved his music for a
<v Speaker 1>long time. I'm not the biggest kid rock fan. I just...
<v Speaker 1>don't really like his music. But that being said, together,
<v Speaker 1>I'm really interested to see how this song's gonna sound.
<v Speaker 2>That's so interesting.
<v Speaker 3>I had no idea that they were friends before, so
<v Speaker 3>it kind of makes sense, I guess, them trying to
<v Speaker 3>do this. But yeah, never saw that coming.
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely not. I'm excited to see what the song's gonna
<v Speaker 1>sound like, and it actually gave me interest in this
<v Speaker 1>album that Kid Rock is gonna be putting out.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, for sure.
<v Speaker 3>And Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights kicked off last weekend.
<v Speaker 3>And I didn't realize this, but sometimes celebrities will go
<v Speaker 3>be the ones in costume scaring you. So for opening night,
<v Speaker 3>Jack Osborne and his daughter Pearl, they did the honors
<v Speaker 3>at Ozzy's new dedicated haunted house.
<v Speaker 2>It's called Ozzy Osborne Prince of Darkness. I mean, you know.
<v Speaker 1>Of course. Very fitting.
<v Speaker 2>The title is just there.
<v Speaker 1>It writes itself.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>And Jack Osborne and his daughter, they were turned into
<v Speaker 3>bloody bat priest hybrids, whatever that is. But I mean,
<v Speaker 3>how's that for some father daughter bonding?
<v Speaker 2>If you're the child of Ozzy Osborne and the grandchild
<v Speaker 2>of Ozzy Osborne, it's actually very fitting. And this is
<v Speaker 2>actually adorable, despite all the blood.
<v Speaker 1>Well, I think that's really cute, too. I agree with you.
<v Speaker 1>I think it's also, like you said, probably very healing
<v Speaker 1>for this family to be able to kind of honor
<v Speaker 1>their dad and grandpa and also have some fun with it, right?
<v Speaker 2>Oh, 100%.
<v Speaker 1>I would go. Plus, if I was just a fan
<v Speaker 1>of that and it was in town, I would absolutely
<v Speaker 1>go see them. 100%.
<v Speaker 2>And I think it's kind of cool that Jack Osborne,
<v Speaker 2>I mean, he's all dressed up anyway. No one knew
<v Speaker 2>it was him until they were, you know, good in
<v Speaker 2>terms of security or anything like that. But it's just
<v Speaker 2>kind of fun that he actually, he did the dirty work.
<v Speaker 2>You know, he put on the costume and the makeup
<v Speaker 2>and he was out there running around and I'm sure
<v Speaker 2>he was like a little sweaty from running around and
<v Speaker 2>like scaring people. That's so fun.
<v Speaker 1>I guarantee you he had an absolute blast with that.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, seriously, I've always wanted to be the people
<v Speaker 1>that haunt you. Like, that would be so much fun
<v Speaker 1>to be the person in costume, right?
<v Speaker 2>Exactly.
<v Speaker 1>I love it.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly.
<v Speaker 3>We were at the Avs game on Saturday, and we
<v Speaker 3>were there hanging out.
<v Speaker 2>Josh, you had brought your brother.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Which was nice to meet him. I think I met
<v Speaker 2>him once before.
<v Speaker 1>Probably. We look exactly the same.
<v Speaker 2>You guys do.
<v Speaker 3>Basically twins. And then I was there with some family.
<v Speaker 3>I was there with my husband and his cousin and
<v Speaker 3>her kid. And she wanted to go to that game
<v Speaker 3>specifically because she has two boys. But the other kid,
<v Speaker 3>he was there with his hockey team. And they did
<v Speaker 3>it big for this hockey team. They had the whole
<v Speaker 3>hockey team in a suite. They enjoyed the game.
<v Speaker 1>What hockey team is that? I want to join.
<v Speaker 2>Right, exactly. But he was kind of on a suite
<v Speaker 2>on the other side of the arena from where we were.
<v Speaker 3>And we were very lucky to also be in a
<v Speaker 3>suite from our job, our work, too. And being away
<v Speaker 3>from your kid in a big arena, a lot of people...
<v Speaker 3>He doesn't have a cell phone. And so she was like,
<v Speaker 3>you know, I'll probably have to go and check in
<v Speaker 3>on him every once in a while. And I'm like, well, yes,
<v Speaker 3>of course, being a responsible good mother. But then I
<v Speaker 3>got caught stalking a little bit.
<v Speaker 1>You did something that shocked me. So it was so funny.
<v Speaker 1>The way it was situated, their other team was kind
<v Speaker 1>of directly across from us, essentially. Directly across, yeah. So
<v Speaker 1>the mom, your cousin, is trying to, like, point out
<v Speaker 1>and be like, I think he's in there, can't really
<v Speaker 1>quite see.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know which box might be that one.
<v Speaker 1>And then the brilliant mind of Nina is so smart.
<v Speaker 1>The way your brain works is just so different than mine,
<v Speaker 1>and I love seeing it that way. So you are like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>you know what?
<v Speaker 2>I was like, this is easy.
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to whip out my phone. I got Zoom
<v Speaker 1>on my phone.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly.
<v Speaker 1>I can Zoom in, and now with the iPhone, you
<v Speaker 1>can Zoom in to see people's pores, essentially. A lot, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>you can zoom in so much, you start zooming in,
<v Speaker 1>and you are able to pick out her son. You
<v Speaker 1>see him, you found him.
<v Speaker 2>I just grabbed my phone, I zoomed it all the
<v Speaker 2>way in, and I was like, oh look, he's right there.
<v Speaker 2>And then she's like, oh, he's talking to so-and-so, and
<v Speaker 2>that's his coach, and this and that.
<v Speaker 3>And every once in a while, instead of walking across
<v Speaker 3>the arena, we would just whip out my phone zoom
<v Speaker 3>in and check to make sure he's still there he's
<v Speaker 3>good he's having a good time we're fine the.
<v Speaker 1>Level of stalking that you that you have acquired the
<v Speaker 1>stalking skills I would have never thought about that and
<v Speaker 1>I kind of came in halfway through that conversation I
<v Speaker 1>didn't hear your guys's conversation so I am just looking
<v Speaker 1>and I like I'm scanning the game and then I
<v Speaker 1>see what you're doing and I just mentioned I go
<v Speaker 1>wow you stalker what are you doing what are you
<v Speaker 1>doing Seriously.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, you know what they say when it comes
<v Speaker 2>to a woman, especially on social media, we will be
<v Speaker 2>able to find that dirt.
<v Speaker 1>Y'all are FBI agents.
<v Speaker 2>We're better than the FBI.
<v Speaker 3>The CIA ain't got nothing on us. Three things you
<v Speaker 3>need to know before you go into the office today.
<v Speaker 3>Like this couple in Commerce City went viral last week.
<v Speaker 3>So they were watching last weekend's Broncos game.
<v Speaker 2>You know, the one where we won.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, yeah. Good times. I remember that.
<v Speaker 2>Right, right, right, right.
<v Speaker 3>Well, they did a TikTok trend where the guy turns
<v Speaker 3>away from the TV, back to the TV, okay?
<v Speaker 1>Okay.
<v Speaker 2>And girlfriend calls the game for him.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, Lord in heaven. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Could you even imagine, Josh?
<v Speaker 1>I got to do this.
<v Speaker 2>You should. You should try it with Princess Pilot.
<v Speaker 1>Yes.
<v Speaker 2>So she did okay, but there were a few flubs,
<v Speaker 2>and that's part of why this went viral.
<v Speaker 1>Okay.
<v Speaker 2>But she did, he's like, which yard line are they at?
<v Speaker 2>Where are they at right now? And she goes, How
<v Speaker 2>do you tell?
<v Speaker 1>This is the best. I love this. This is so good.
<v Speaker 2>Yes. So a couple of flubs there, but they went viral.
<v Speaker 2>So shout out to Brian and Nikki. Finn Frock in
<v Speaker 2>Commerce City went totally viral trying this TikTok trend.
<v Speaker 1>That's adorable. I love those cute little couple things that
<v Speaker 1>they can do, and it's not just like the normal mushy,
<v Speaker 1>gushy stuff. Like, oh, I love you so much. It's
<v Speaker 1>probably the best.
<v Speaker 2>Fun with each other.
<v Speaker 1>Exactly, and the boyfriend's probably almost on the verge of
<v Speaker 1>frustration because he's like, just tell me what's happening. Why
<v Speaker 1>can't you tell me what's going, just watch the TV,
<v Speaker 1>and she's like.
<v Speaker 2>And he was so flustered. There were moments where he's
<v Speaker 2>just rubbing his face like, oh my gosh. But they
<v Speaker 2>did win. That was a winning game. It was last weekend,
<v Speaker 2>so it was okay.
<v Speaker 1>Probably would have been less fun if they did it
<v Speaker 1>this week.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Well, this is kind of sad news. Americans have been
<v Speaker 1>studied over the last 45 years now, and this is crazy.
<v Speaker 1>Americans are now hosting their friends and family at home, essentially,
<v Speaker 1>like a dinner night, a date night, a card game night, whatever. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>It is essentially collapsed from 1975 until 2026. The amount
<v Speaker 1>of people hosting their friends and family in the houses
<v Speaker 1>have dropped from 50% essentially to 12%.
<v Speaker 2>Oh my gosh.
<v Speaker 1>No one is seeing each other anymore. Thompson, who is
<v Speaker 1>the guy that did this whole entire thing, revisited data
<v Speaker 1>from 1975, which predicted this decline about a quarter century ago.
<v Speaker 2>Really?
<v Speaker 1>These new surveys have double digit drops across nearly every
<v Speaker 1>form of in-person socializing from card games to To bar nights.
<v Speaker 1>That is so sad, first of all.
<v Speaker 2>That's so sad.
<v Speaker 1>We need to get out more. I don't understand this.
<v Speaker 1>Contributing factors, they say, include busy dual-income households. We understand that. Yes.
<v Speaker 1>Intensive parenting. Okay, I get that. Shrinking friendship circles, which
<v Speaker 1>again is so odd because we have social media where
<v Speaker 1>we are in constant contact with We just don't feel
<v Speaker 1>the need to go see each other in person anymore.
<v Speaker 3>That's the hard part is because of social media, we
<v Speaker 3>feel like we have really close friends. But when it
<v Speaker 3>comes down to it, if you can't call someone and
<v Speaker 3>they will drop anything to come and see you, then
<v Speaker 3>is that a true friend?
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely. And this is what you actually hit the nail
<v Speaker 1>on the head there, Nina. Thompson, who wrote this whole
<v Speaker 1>entire project, says, We have built a world in which
<v Speaker 1>being alone has never become more easy. It is more
<v Speaker 1>comfortable and more fun to be alone now. And I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>that's the saddest thing I've ever heard. I'm guilty of
<v Speaker 1>this too. Like there are many nights where some of
<v Speaker 1>my friends go out and I'm like, I've been up
<v Speaker 1>for so many hours. Do I want to go out?
<v Speaker 1>I can just stay at the comfort of my home.
<v Speaker 1>And sometimes it's good. You got to force yourself out there.
<v Speaker 1>Like you really do. It's not a good thing to
<v Speaker 1>be so comfortable alone. being at home alone yeah and
<v Speaker 1>that's the way this world is going because we're again
<v Speaker 1>we're at the like i can text you nina anytime
<v Speaker 1>i want right but then again like forcing ourselves to
<v Speaker 1>go out with friends or family it can be tough.
<v Speaker 3>It does it takes effort it takes time it takes
<v Speaker 3>gas money you know you're spending a hundred dollars if
<v Speaker 3>you leave the house and that's part of it too it.
<v Speaker 1>100 is but that's a sad reality it is a
<v Speaker 1>sad reality a very unfortunate thing that's happened and it
<v Speaker 1>makes me sad to see that we're about 12 of
<v Speaker 1>people wanting to.
<v Speaker 2>Actually go hang out yeah that's pretty crazy i don't
<v Speaker 2>like that you gotta host like a game night or
<v Speaker 2>something I know.
<v Speaker 1>We should.
<v Speaker 2>We should. We should.
<v Speaker 3>And over the weekend, I learned that ski areas will
<v Speaker 3>save snow somehow over the summer. So they have these
<v Speaker 3>thermal blankets. They will shovel up all the snow into
<v Speaker 3>one big pile. And they have these major thermal blankets
<v Speaker 3>that they drape over it. And it's supposed to help
<v Speaker 3>keep the snow.
<v Speaker 2>And it does.
<v Speaker 3>And it's been able to keep some snow over at
<v Speaker 3>Aspen Snowmass.
<v Speaker 2>That's what they did. And they actually opened up last weekend.
<v Speaker 1>No way. I didn't know that, first of all.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>So they had enough saved snow and the snow that
<v Speaker 3>kind of fell at the highest peaks combined. And they're
<v Speaker 3>building out this rail park for skiers and snowboarders. So
<v Speaker 3>it's open to the public if you want.
<v Speaker 2>To go check it out. It's only open on the weekends, though,
<v Speaker 2>Saturdays and Sundays to start 10 till 2. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>That's the craziest, I mean imagine, we're now recycling snow.
<v Speaker 2>No, literally.
<v Speaker 1>This is from last year.
<v Speaker 2>That's exactly what we're doing and it's so sad.
<v Speaker 3>Josh, I can't even tell you how many times a
<v Speaker 3>day I'm constantly picking up my phone, looking at my notifications,
<v Speaker 3>refreshing the timeline, looking back at my notifications, and then
<v Speaker 3>I put my phone down for two seconds, and then
<v Speaker 3>I'm picking it up again and doing.
<v Speaker 2>It all over.
<v Speaker 1>So we have an addiction, and I think we all
<v Speaker 1>do to some degree. I know many people who have
<v Speaker 1>smartphones are like, man, sometimes I wish I could go
<v Speaker 1>back to the dumb phone, you know, the flip phone,
<v Speaker 1>where it was just calling and texting, and you didn't
<v Speaker 1>have to pick it up every two seconds. Yes. I
<v Speaker 1>have a question for you, though. Have you ever felt
<v Speaker 1>like the phantom vibration, where your phone doesn't actually vibrate?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, where you think it's vibrating in your pocket, and
<v Speaker 3>then you go to reach for it, and my phone's
<v Speaker 3>not even in my pocket.
<v Speaker 2>It's in my purse or something.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, so I do that all the time. And it's
<v Speaker 1>such a weird thing. And it might be because we've
<v Speaker 1>kind of gotten past the skinny jeans vibe, and I've
<v Speaker 1>got baggier pants on now, and I just constantly think
<v Speaker 1>my phone's vibrating. You're not alone in that. There is
<v Speaker 1>a study that has just come out from Lifestyle where
<v Speaker 1>many people are experiencing this. Around 90% of people are
<v Speaker 1>experiencing the phantom vibration. Scientists have studied the brain, which
<v Speaker 1>is so funny. Our brain now... is primed to expect alerts.
<v Speaker 1>We have misreads on ordinary sensations, which would be like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, the clothing friction, or muscle twitches, as literally
<v Speaker 1>the phone going vvvvv. We're trying to figure that out.
<v Speaker 1>It's attributed essentially to the heavy phone use, always having
<v Speaker 1>your phone on vibration mode, or the workplace pressure. Have
<v Speaker 1>you thought about that? So get this. A Taiwan study
<v Speaker 1>tracking medical interns found that the phantom vibrations jumped to
<v Speaker 1>96% during their intense training parts of the year and
<v Speaker 1>then dropped significantly afterwards. So depending on what we do
<v Speaker 1>for our jobs, when we're constantly experiencing like, hey, we
<v Speaker 1>got to check our emails. We got to make sure
<v Speaker 1>that we're caught up to date on everything.
<v Speaker 2>You have alerts are on every time you get an email.
<v Speaker 1>The push notifications, right? Yeah. Those are the things that
<v Speaker 1>I think we need to get away from. I have
<v Speaker 1>found myself turning off push notifications for almost everything on
<v Speaker 1>my phone now except for major work things or whatever
<v Speaker 1>because I'm like, it's stressful constantly checking your phone. It
<v Speaker 1>is stressful. constantly always feeling the need to be on
<v Speaker 1>and be like, OK, did I miss something? Did I
<v Speaker 1>miss an important email from my boss?
<v Speaker 2>Right, right. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I don't like that. The stress that comes with owning
<v Speaker 1>a phone. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>No, for real. And like you said, everyone feels this
<v Speaker 2>in one way or another. Maybe it is emails because,
<v Speaker 2>you know, work is just really, really hounding you.
<v Speaker 3>And it's very important that you answer those emails right away.
<v Speaker 3>That's kind of my husband is in that boat. where
<v Speaker 3>he has his... He's not on social media at all, okay?
<v Speaker 3>First of all, let me just point that out. He's
<v Speaker 3>not on social media at all, okay? He just has
<v Speaker 3>a phone. Yes, it is a smartphone, but he's off
<v Speaker 3>of all the socials.
<v Speaker 2>But his work is so demanding.
<v Speaker 3>That he has to answer those emails and those phone
<v Speaker 3>calls and those text messages. Doesn't matter if it's during
<v Speaker 3>work hours or not.
<v Speaker 1>Well, see, and I think that's funny with us, Nina, too. Like,
<v Speaker 1>you and I, I would say the other 90% of
<v Speaker 1>our job is also... answering emails. We're off the air
<v Speaker 1>at 10 a.m., I understand that, but we have a
<v Speaker 1>large portion of our job that is between the hours
<v Speaker 1>that we're actually not on the air. Oh, 100%. I
<v Speaker 1>was talking earlier today about how many emails we got
<v Speaker 1>within like a four second span. All of a sudden
<v Speaker 1>it was like.
<v Speaker 2>We've had a lot already this morning.
<v Speaker 1>And so it's just the stress and pressures that come
<v Speaker 1>with that that I'm just like, can we all just
<v Speaker 1>breathe and take a break from this? I'm sick of
<v Speaker 1>feeling my phone vibrate when it's not even doing it.
<v Speaker 2>I know, I know. Yeah, we all kind of go
<v Speaker 2>through that.
<v Speaker 3>So I don't know, if you are getting the phantom vibration,
<v Speaker 3>and you're like, man, I'm sick of this, like, maybe
<v Speaker 3>it is time to take a break from your phone,
<v Speaker 3>if you can, set it up with work, whatever, and just, like,
<v Speaker 3>a whole weekend, have you ever gone, like, disconnected from
<v Speaker 3>the world for a full weekend?
<v Speaker 1>No. No? I don't think I have.
<v Speaker 2>Josh!
<v Speaker 1>I really don't think I have. I mean, there's weekends.
<v Speaker 2>That's so unhealthy, dude.
<v Speaker 1>Well, it is what it is. You know what, all right,
<v Speaker 1>you know what, from now on, Nina, I'm ignoring all
<v Speaker 1>of you. Bye, I'm ignoring everybody. what I meant. Goodbye.
<v Speaker 2>Our winner, Lorella, is going to see Ella on Wednesday.
<v Speaker 1>I love that.
<v Speaker 2>I love that it rhymes.
<v Speaker 1>I know, it's perfect. That's so exciting for her and
<v Speaker 1>her mom.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, exactly.
<v Speaker 3>So we called Lorella earlier today to let her know
<v Speaker 3>she is going to see Ella Langley, but we do
<v Speaker 3>have more tickets we are giving away on Wednesday, the
<v Speaker 3>day of the show. Your last chance to get some tickets.
<v Speaker 3>We're going to be at Zig Zag Burgers in the DTC.
<v Speaker 3>Noon until 1, so plan to spend your lunch hour
<v Speaker 3>with us for a chance at last-minute Ella Langley tickets.
<v Speaker 1>Well, yeah, and this is the one where you've got
<v Speaker 1>to be there to claim that ticket, too. So we
<v Speaker 1>want you there. We don't want you to just sign
<v Speaker 1>up and then not be there. We want to give
<v Speaker 1>the tickets to you so you can go enjoy that night. Again,
<v Speaker 1>it's just an hour. And ZigZag, by the way, has
<v Speaker 1>unbelievably good food.
<v Speaker 2>So good.
<v Speaker 1>First of all. So get some good food there then
<v Speaker 1>and then hopefully celebrate with some Ella Langley tickets.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly.
<v Speaker 3>So all the details on that are up on our
<v Speaker 3>Instagram and Facebook at Mix 100 Denver. But Josh, it
<v Speaker 3>is the end of the show here, and it is
<v Speaker 3>time to admit your wrongs.
<v Speaker 2>What you got?
<v Speaker 1>I am shocked. I did not think this would ever
<v Speaker 1>go out of style, but apparently this is where I
<v Speaker 1>was wrong. We talked earlier about the best costumes to
<v Speaker 1>wear or not to wear this Halloween. Yeah. And the
<v Speaker 1>number one thing that has been outplayed are sexy costumes.
<v Speaker 2>Which is crazy. Who would have thought this day would
<v Speaker 2>ever come?
<v Speaker 1>I feel like it really, and I'm sure it's always
<v Speaker 1>been going on for as long as time, but I
<v Speaker 1>feel like it really got started around the Mean Girls era,
<v Speaker 1>you know, and everybody wanted to wear the sexy costumes.
<v Speaker 1>I'm a mouse. Duh. Yeah, right? Exactly. So I thought
<v Speaker 1>that would never go out of style, but now I
<v Speaker 1>love it. People are getting a sense of humor back,
<v Speaker 1>dang it. Yeah. And they're having fun with the costumes
<v Speaker 1>they're making. And I like that. You're having more imagination,
<v Speaker 1>if you will.
<v Speaker 2>And getting creative.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, instead of just throwing on the mouse ears. Right.
<v Speaker 1>Wearing lingerie. We love it. So have fun with your
<v Speaker 1>costumes this year. Yes, please do. What did you get wrong, Nina?
<v Speaker 2>I got wrong.
<v Speaker 3>When we were talking about in Know Before You Go,
<v Speaker 3>I mentioned Porch Fest had come.
<v Speaker 2>To Colorado for the first time ever.
<v Speaker 1>Sounds like a blast.
<v Speaker 3>It is, and it did come to Denver for the
<v Speaker 3>first time ever, but we got a text on our
<v Speaker 3>text line saying, actually, Porch Fest has been in Colorado before,
<v Speaker 3>just not in Denver, but it was up in Boulder.
<v Speaker 3>So Boulder has been doing a Porch Fest in the past.
<v Speaker 1>It's a very bolder thing to do.
<v Speaker 2>I know, right? I'm like, that sounds so bolder.
<v Speaker 1>What, up on the hill right over there? Let's just
<v Speaker 1>play some music on the porch, bro.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, exactly, exactly.
<v Speaker 1>Love it.
<v Speaker 2>But Porch Fest for the first time was in Denver,
<v Speaker 2>and I thought that was pretty cool.
<v Speaker 3>So if you missed out on that story, we are
<v Speaker 3>going to have our podcast up here in just a
<v Speaker 3>little bit.
<v Speaker 2>You can re-listen to all the Know Before You Goes
<v Speaker 2>and Celebrity Quickies and get caught up on everything for
<v Speaker 2>your day on our podcast. So go and check that out.
<v Speaker 2>It's up at Mix100.
<v Speaker 1>Com. Mm-hmm.
<v Speaker 3>So thank you so much for tuning in today. We're
<v Speaker 3>going to get going. Angela Cortez is on her way in.
<v Speaker 3>And don't forget to plan on Wednesday. Meet us at
<v Speaker 3>Zig Zag Burgers on Wednesday in the Tech Center for
<v Speaker 3>those last-minute.
<v Speaker 2>Ella Langley tickets.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, we'll see you there.
<v Speaker 2>All righty. And we'll talk to you tomorrow. Have a
<v Speaker 2>good night.
<v Speaker 1>Goodbye.
<v Speaker 2>Good night, good day.
<v Speaker 1>Goodbye.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, my gosh.
<v Speaker 1>I'm sorry.
<v Speaker 2>That was my bad. Have a good day.
<v Speaker 1>Goodbye.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, bye.
