[SPEAKER_00]: This is Brian, founding listener number 46.
[SPEAKER_00]: And thank God, Josh and Rob are still talking because we're still listening.
[SPEAKER_03]: Rob's B-wack.
[SPEAKER_03]: Josh, suckers!
[SPEAKER_03]: Still talking!
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel I shouldn't comment on the new pre-roll open because those who are listening are not going to see it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But those who are just watched it, I believe what you have created is going to be a holiday tradition, not unlike it's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it started with, obviously, the inspiration of the Great Pumpkin.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: I understand.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like the word.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's different direction.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're essentially in matching outfits too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Although we have different color hoodies, we look like we're in a boy band.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you should put that up as like a separate bonus on YouTube so people can really study.
[SPEAKER_04]: I like, I think.
[SPEAKER_04]: I know people give a hard time for AI and how I'm music and all right.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think AI shines when you give it good directions to do something just stupid like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we're folks.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're just having a good time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Still Talk in 007.
[SPEAKER_01]: Your James Bond episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Rob Spuack with Josh Sroka.
[SPEAKER_01]: And let us start with a thank you and a warning.
[SPEAKER_01]: The warning first.
[SPEAKER_01]: I had a hard time falling asleep last night.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know why.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it was because I kept watching that Lizzy board monster show and now they're mixing up modern day with the 1890s and there was a lot of, I'll just say, that's a play.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to talk about that.
[SPEAKER_01]: E.
[SPEAKER_01]: acts play a lot of spattered blood and then a prostitute murders her john in 1978 while Susan quattro song is playing and then there's a roller rink and then they go and they've turned the board and house into a bed and breakfast and why would you go there and it was um
[SPEAKER_01]: My mind was not in ease when I hit the pillow last night.
[SPEAKER_01]: So there he is.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's dead last, so yeah, he'll finish.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I did.
[SPEAKER_01]: I watched Lasso first, actually.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's your problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I should have, I should have switched it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love that Ted Lasso gave us that fourth season because it was a lot of fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the ending was just so man, you know, it didn't touch the first three seasons.
[SPEAKER_04]: It was plus agree.
[SPEAKER_04]: And is there supposed to be a fifth season?
[SPEAKER_01]: I hope not because the product is getting awfully thin.
[SPEAKER_04]: What the first three seasons did is I felt like they started it to begin and where we have a story to tell and it's going to take three seasons to get through the story.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like a classic three act construction and had a very satisfying ending at the end of the third.
[SPEAKER_01]: But this fourth season, have you ever opened up a jar of spaghetti slots?
[SPEAKER_01]: and you poured into the pan and there's like, you know, remnant spaghetti sauce in the jar.
[SPEAKER_01]: And since you're going to simmer it anyway, you put like maybe a quarter half cup of water in the jar and you shake it to get all the extra out and you poured in that half water half spaghetti sauce product.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the way season four of Ted Lasso felt to me.
[SPEAKER_04]: I enjoyed it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Is it safe to ruin it yet?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, I think by the time it finds its way to the streamer that I watch it on, I think most people have had a fair chance to watch it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the finale was last week.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I just watched the finale last night.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think...
[SPEAKER_04]: My problem with Ted laughs are this season.
[SPEAKER_04]: Was they started to give you everything that you wanted?
[SPEAKER_04]: It's starting to be very strong.
[SPEAKER_04]: Very strong.
[SPEAKER_04]: The, the, the started in Kansas City was great.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're bringing him back is great.
[SPEAKER_04]: The family following over because the first three seasons, you always,
[SPEAKER_04]: There was always something on all where it's like, well, I hope it's relationship with his son gets better.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's that's a key thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, well, maybe he's getting back together with his ex.
[SPEAKER_04]: That'd be good for the son.
[SPEAKER_01]: And also the female soccer team was a good variant.
[SPEAKER_01]: It allowed us to do two, you know, re-visit some of the original conflicts with new characters at play.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I like that.
[SPEAKER_04]: but then something happened like the past last three episodes whether like what we're gonna finally settle the Roy and uh... kaley story like really by the way is there any one cuter on tv then her and him to be honest uh... i think they're a great couple that was my favorite thing in the last episode i don't know if they ended up i don't know i didn't enjoy jaymy return in
[SPEAKER_04]: I did enjoy the teas that Jamie was going to hook up with, uh, with what's her name.
[SPEAKER_04]: He'll lady the owner.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's right.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like the late, the late owner.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[SPEAKER_04]: you did not.
[SPEAKER_04]: It didn't fit the storyline at all, except let's get an emotional thing here.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they really leaned on her character developing in like the last three episodes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, also a problem with the last season of Ted Lasso, the owner of the team who I just miss identified for give me.
[SPEAKER_01]: the owner of the team has gotten too brassy.
[SPEAKER_01]: She was always sort of a brassy broad type character, but now she's wearing hats like Humphrey Bogart and she's, yeah, Rebecca, too much of that.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the whole subplot of taking over the team pointless because it's not it's not a business
[SPEAKER_04]: Right, and you were trying to make it like this crazy person who you've been building up as a new character the whole time and then that's the villain of the season.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then the use trace element as a spice, not as an Andre, you know, and then don't want to make her a plot point and then the final couple minutes of the season.
[SPEAKER_04]: make no sense.
[SPEAKER_04]: You're right with everything that they established.
[SPEAKER_04]: The Ted going in to talk to Rebecca and his lead question does not fit the way it ended.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're absolutely right.
[SPEAKER_01]: They brought back the old Tal trainer boy though that coach the other team.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like seeing him and they did what is it though.
[SPEAKER_01]: The old fact that we loved that.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I
[SPEAKER_01]: Love the kitty to the wolf pack.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you see, that's the thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: They laid such a strong foundation in the first three seasons, that just referring back to it was refreshing and nice.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: But overall, it's not in a plus season.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, it's not.
[SPEAKER_04]: It made it feel like a reunion show.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, your favorite moments were throwbacks.
[SPEAKER_01]: they finally got off gilligan's island in sea right away, so good for them, but it's still at least it's positive TV out there.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not no one got murdered.
[SPEAKER_01]: It made me, well, we don't know what killed me.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm wondering.
[SPEAKER_01]: After watching it, if it wouldn't benefit me as we get out of spooky season, which has officially begun, as we get into the holiday season, would it not be worthwhile to rewatch the first three seasons and particularly the first season, because that first season had that Christmas episode that was almost magical.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was just such a beautiful piece of television.
[SPEAKER_01]: and you want to have the build up to it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel I feel a little let down.
[SPEAKER_01]: I imagine the people that are listening to still talk and have the same feeling about this show.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know about the fourth season of Ted Lazarus.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I have trouble going back to certain shows, especially comedies because I'm like, it's not going to be as good as I remember.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the comedy has to do with surprise.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I grew, I really enjoyed the first few seasons of the office.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that show probably holds up.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is, I've got emotionally invested when you don't know the direction things are going.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because if you're watching season one and in the back of your mind, you know that Pam and Jim are going to end up together and that, you know, Michael's going to leave and all this stuff is going to happen, it takes a lot of the zest out of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you know that they're going to get the red head with the car, if you know she's going to get it by a car.
[SPEAKER_01]: That ruins it a little bit too, but I also think that the office is sort of a genre defining show in that for my kids.
[SPEAKER_01]: they will put it on and leave it on in the background.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and we used to listen to the radio.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's just comfort for them.
[SPEAKER_04]: Same with the same with my oldest daughter, friends and the office, you know, on his background.
[SPEAKER_04]: And maybe that's, and that's, I kind of get that because we had that also as kids with syndication.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well, it wasn't these shows, but that's how I fell in love with sign-felt.
[SPEAKER_04]: It was not all the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you're a little younger.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how I fell in love with the honey moaners, and I love Lucy, you know, but seriously, it's the same thing one show that I have Really really Fallen in genuine love with and appreciate a whole bunch that I never watched one episode of when it was on
[SPEAKER_01]: But I guess comedy central runs it every Sunday morning.
[SPEAKER_01]: So when I get up and carries having coffee and I'm having a soda and we're trying to figure out about breakfast or whatever it's Sunday, um, of course we've already been to church.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, what we put on TV is on comedy central parks and recreation parks and wreck.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think aged better than the office, it's funnier than the office.
[SPEAKER_01]: The characters are great and I have grown to adore that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you.
[SPEAKER_04]: The key to parks and rec.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: You just skip the first season.
[SPEAKER_01]: First season is a disaster.
[SPEAKER_04]: The first season is trying so hard to be the office.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Skinny.
[SPEAKER_04]: Let it become its own show and it's great.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the original male lead, like the good-looking guy that sort of had a will there won't stay with Amy Pollard, that they eventually wrote out and replaced with Adam Palley.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the genius move of bringing Rob Loan.
[SPEAKER_01]: His character is just marvelous.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you've got, again,
[SPEAKER_01]: The best TV is character driven and you've got great characters on that show, Ron Swanson.
[SPEAKER_01]: You do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Aubrey Plaza, I think 50 years from now, they'll look back on her the way we recognize Lucy or some of the great sitcoms of the past.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think what she did was so different and so charming.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so delicately played.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's not a broad character.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's nuance.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyhow, anyhow.
[SPEAKER_01]: Same thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what it takes.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's why I love to modern family so much.
[SPEAKER_04]: Every cast member was perfect.
[SPEAKER_01]: character driven character driven.
[SPEAKER_01]: I, uh, so maybe any of those shows would have been better to watch than monster Poland, Lizzie Boything.
[SPEAKER_04]: You're, you're putting too much like evil death murder and you're brain to death.
[SPEAKER_01]: I had bad data in my head last night.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I couldn't sleep.
[SPEAKER_01]: So by the time, my fall asleep, it's time to get up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I get up and do to my own stupid habits,
[SPEAKER_01]: I go downstairs and I do I have to ask because you're a little not that much younger uh, emotionally I'm a million years older, but if we look at actual age, we're close yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Did you do you lay out your pills?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, first of all, do you take pills on a regular basis?
[SPEAKER_01]: I have two pills.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Certainly that I'm taken.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: They both live at home.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm kidding.
[SPEAKER_01]: But do you lay the matter?
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you just take two pills every morning?
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I just have the bottles next to my sink.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and I'm big.
[SPEAKER_04]: I do ask myself throughout the day.
[SPEAKER_04]: Did I take that this morning?
[SPEAKER_04]: See, that's one of the problems I have because I got none memory.
[SPEAKER_01]: I maybe I should be taking one of the memory pills but I never would remember to take.
[SPEAKER_01]: I take so many pills in the morning, Josh.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not hungry for breakfast after I take.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just throw some alpha brain in there.
[SPEAKER_01]: No one.
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I laid my pill, it was a big turning point in my life when I had to go from
[SPEAKER_01]: the pillminder to the AMPM pillminder.
[SPEAKER_01]: So now I've got the 14 slot thing where I have the pills.
[SPEAKER_04]: I only have a travel pill thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's just for my gummies when I travel.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, well it's coming.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's coming.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's coming.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, besides blood pressure and keeping my blood sugar on target, and I still take some liver-oriented pills, those are mostly supplements that, you know, help regenerate.
[SPEAKER_01]: Although my liver now is so healthy, I probably could start drinking again.
[SPEAKER_04]: I won't, but I probably could.
[SPEAKER_04]: Probably a bad idea.
[SPEAKER_01]: The liver is one of the most resilient organs in the body.
[SPEAKER_01]: But do you know those?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and I'm glad your liver's doing fine.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's awesome.
[SPEAKER_04]: But stop and drinking has helped you with so many other things.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's maybe just stay down that path.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's certainly saved a lot of money.
[SPEAKER_01]: He has him.
[SPEAKER_04]: I take blood pressure medicine and I take an ulcer pill currently.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so something to keep the acid down.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is your blood pressure pill annoyingly small?
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah, I don't even I don't even take it with water or anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I hate how tiny it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, anyway, so my pills are all laid out.
[SPEAKER_01]: I go downstairs, I open up Thursday AM, put it in a little cup because they're too many, literally too many to take out of my hand.
[SPEAKER_01]: I put them in almost like a beer pong cup.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I take them, but because allergies have been the way they've been in the D.C. area, it's fall, and even though it's warm, the leaves are changing, which means a certain time.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, well, I'm on, I take an allergy pill, you're around it now, but I've been to augment it, I've been taking a benedrel.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't take two unless it's at night, but I did take a Benadryl this morning because it's habit.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't want my nose to be like a faucet during the show, but Benadryl's a problem because no matter how much they put no non-drowsy on the box.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's drowsy.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's always drowsy.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is super drowsy.
[SPEAKER_01]: So as I felt and it's generic Costco Clarity, I'm a generic Benadryl, I don't know what it's called.
[SPEAKER_01]: But as I felt that naughty little pink pill sliding down my throat, I said,
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm already exhausted.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a bad idea.
[SPEAKER_01]: So wish me luck during the show today.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I wanted.
[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to say that to get to this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Second thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing week for the founders of this show.
[SPEAKER_01]: When we set out to do this show, maybe what six, seven weeks ago when we started announcing
[SPEAKER_01]: we you and I had a number of families we would have loved yet that we would love to have seen at about this time calendar wise a certain number of founders that would a encourage us that it's a project that you guys are into and b give us the financial footing that we could have to launch the show and and still buy our benedrial.
[SPEAKER_04]: Not kind of proof that like we have enough back and to roll this out full
[SPEAKER_01]: You guys have shattered that number numerous times.
[SPEAKER_01]: Josh and I, one of the greatest pleasures we have right now now that Wank is cast is over.
[SPEAKER_01]: All that we have left is a text to each other when we get another founder and we just text the number to a lot of text.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot of text and it is a stone cold blast.
[SPEAKER_01]: I imagine if you're listening now, you're probably,
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... well i imagine all the founders are probably listening so i hope that this reaches them thank you guys you don't know how important it is not just to the uh... physical construction of this show but to the mental wellness of those it really makes us feel great it really does and
[SPEAKER_04]: And the founder's group meet chat is one of my favorite things now is to see that thing role I don't even need to be involved in the conversation just seeing other people talk because we were so When we laid this out we were like family family family family.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: We want a family relationship and that's Right now the group meet chat is just like my family family text.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's the same thing It is so great and what I love is someone will say something
[SPEAKER_01]: Almost inconsequential to anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's when the scab has been picked and the blood of listeners starts flowing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because then it's Bing, Bing, Bubbing, Bing, Bing, Adam Sternberg hits one out of the park, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is so fun and also better than Facebook, you don't have to chase it around on all the different Facebook sites.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's all there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you are a founder, you are welcome certainly in the group me chat.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you have trouble getting in, just notify Josh or myself, we'll make sure you're invited.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I like the group me chat because I like when you put a comment in there, I'll pick it you and you'll pick it me.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like letting everyone in on our private chats.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think people are getting to know as I think one of my favorite things we did a couple times last week is I said something super annoying and Rob like and I just, I don't even know what it was in retrospect, but then I wrote, by the way this is Josh.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you said something super annoying as a reply and you said, Rob here and just and I know that anyone that's in the founders they're Hipp enough to get it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you are not in that chat, there's probably 120 or 130 people that still have come aboard.
[SPEAKER_01]: Please come aboard.
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's here's the sales pitch.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Here's the sale.
[SPEAKER_04]: You have two weeks because we're closing at the end of the month.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Halloween is the last day.
[SPEAKER_01]: You want to talk about Spooky.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Spooky is thing of all is when we close that offer for founders.
[SPEAKER_04]: The founders, uh, but whoever the founder become a founders listener is $150.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: It gets you a year of the Friday show, which we started two weeks ago.
[SPEAKER_04]: I believe tomorrow was Friday show number three.
[SPEAKER_01]: And what's great about the Friday show is it's a show that we air on Fridays.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so the name of it is,
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so the Friday show.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's our premium show.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's our bonus show.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, the Friday show.
[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you also get five founders vote episodes that are already up that are ready to go, which are pretty cool because they are really sort of nitty gritty nuts and bolts stuff about the show and about us.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you really want to know,
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I know that on the first listen, you're just going to say, well, they're just continuing with the Michael Mara show is and in many ways, we're keeping the family together and we're going to know it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But, but there's one episode that I'm so proud of called the Declaration of Principles, where we really get into detail about what we want to do with this show and how we want to get involved with you guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we talk about our pasts and what made us the way we are.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is sort of a psychological drama in many ways.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot like the Lizzy Borton Show.
[SPEAKER_01]: No murder.
[SPEAKER_01]: But if you check that out, that's just stuff that's only available to founders.
[SPEAKER_01]: Plus, you get the swag.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you will be assigned a founding number that is yours regardless for the rest of time.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's going to be your number.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll use that for context.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and we will use it for something.
[SPEAKER_04]: What's cool is I love when I get emails and people say I'm found a number, whatever.
[SPEAKER_04]: But if you go to stilltalkinpodcast.com and click on the Hall of Fame, you can see
[SPEAKER_04]: every member and their number.
[SPEAKER_04]: I love that there's little you can put in a little bio information about yourself pictures because we are a family.
[SPEAKER_04]: And yes Rob, I'm seeing the chats.
[SPEAKER_04]: There was a problem with the TMOSU YouTube channel this morning.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think I just got a fixed.
[SPEAKER_04]: What was the problem?
[SPEAKER_04]: We weren't on it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Wasn't funny enough?
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: Should I make it funny?
[SPEAKER_04]: When I hit start, streamed it apparently failed.
[SPEAKER_04]: on that channel.
[SPEAKER_04]: Please, we're out.
[SPEAKER_04]: But failed on the YouTube.
[SPEAKER_01]: Please, just make sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: Tony, please.
[SPEAKER_01]: We are.
[SPEAKER_04]: You did best 20 minutes.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you were on the TMS YouTube.
[SPEAKER_04]: What did they do?
[SPEAKER_01]: But did they really miss it?
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I've had a reason that you should go like still talking on YouTube.
[SPEAKER_01]: But, yeah, just, I mean, this is a little sweet and sappy.
[SPEAKER_01]: You really don't know how much we appreciate everyone who has jumped aboard as a founder.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you can, and everything about it is just really awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you are not a founder and you're on the bubble, please come aboard, we would love to have you.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, be a part of our family and if nothing else get involved in that group meet chat because that's just plain fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love it, I love it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: For years and years, years, I've said these four words.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Love is a dick.
[SPEAKER_01]: I stand by it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've always felt I didn't need to.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, oh, yeah, the band.
[SPEAKER_04]: The Beach Boys.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was one of the founding members.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there was Dennis Wilson and Brian Wilson and Carl Wilson and their brothers.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Mike love is a cousin.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he's.
[SPEAKER_01]: tangentially related to the band.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he's a beach cousin.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a beach fella.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you can go back and look at the band in the early 60s, you can see clips of him even then being a dick.
[SPEAKER_01]: He got bald at a very young age, so he wore hats in a very dickish way.
[SPEAKER_01]: He danced like a dick.
[SPEAKER_01]: But he wasn't an original member.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was an original member.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as other members have passed,
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of like the way as showbiz gets older, more and more people were really good friends with Elvis.
[SPEAKER_01]: They all say they were because no one can check.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't like the direction you're taking this because I can see the same story.
[SPEAKER_04]: You're what's left of the Don and Mike show.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Bye.
[SPEAKER_04]: Sorry, everyone else has moved on, you're what's left.
[SPEAKER_01]: But a lot of them are still alive, so they could still, they could still, they could still call me, if I'd write.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there's one thing about Michael, is it really kind of started with the song, Cocomol?
[SPEAKER_01]: from the movie cocktail because I believe he got a co-writing credit on that and he started to feel very self-important that's what you want the writing the writers are who makes the money exactly what that co-writing credit but if it takes just a simple YouTube search to find out there is actually released film not like a captured video on a phone film from a documentary of Brian Wilson making fun of Mike love.
[SPEAKER_01]: they did not get along is it's a great thing and they're talking it's Carl and Aljardine I think not related but a original member and Brian and they're talking about the first way the Beach Boys started and Brian musical genius really like Mozart in many ways is seated at the piano and he asks Carl he says hold my nose real tight
[SPEAKER_01]: And he says, what are you doing?
[SPEAKER_01]: He's just holding my nose.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he reaches over and grabs his nose like this and then Brian starts playing the piano and he goes, well, he's co-skirls are hip by releases.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the way Mike love you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Is that being the dick or is that just having fun with your with your friends?
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think he's a dick.
[SPEAKER_01]: I really do, but you know, that's just an opinion and I'm getting to a point also here's another reason I think he's a dick on the recent Disney channel or Disney what does the Disney amp does not need us on Disney plus they did a Beach Boys documentary and for
[SPEAKER_01]: Mike loves sit down interview.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was wearing a very fancy rock and roller shirt like a pattern silky looking button shirt But in the shot at his stomach
[SPEAKER_04]: it was just a little too small and the buttons were pulling apart as that's not his fault yeah it is his fault though because the producer should have told him and i thought the producer it's the producers thought because that's like if suddenly here we're in this the camera scans out and you can see i'm in green pants yeah i didn't plan to show off my green pants might want to me to go get something
[SPEAKER_01]: But it is a structured, and I guess, wow, I guess that really stuck with you that I mentioned you had green people.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's a pretty much, it's
[SPEAKER_01]: Could be you know what I'll give you that and there are a lot of digs and all I don't know why I'm so defensive of him well because you know what you're just antagonistic And yeah, it's because I know you get something set in your head and that's how it is For the rest of eternity Mike loves a dick.
[SPEAKER_01]: It hasn't been a great career I've had but what I've had has been based on the solid notion that have an idea and stick with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't wish bad on anybody, and I do appreciate the fact that Mike loves since like 1960, I think is when the band got together, the first hit might have been 62.
[SPEAKER_01]: For those 50, 70 years, whatever it is, he's been a part of a hit-making machine, and some of the greatest records ever made.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he was really responsible for the sound of him, but he was there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if he had been totally useless to the band, he probably would have been asked to leave.
[SPEAKER_01]: They had members come and go, but lately he's in his 80s.
[SPEAKER_04]: Is it his fault that he's the last band standing?
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not his fault everyone else passed.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, no, but it is.
[SPEAKER_04]: Unless he killed him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, on Brian Wilson's last tour, he's the genius behind the band and I was lucky enough to go see it was called Pet Sound's Live.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I saw it at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C., where Brian sat down and performed the entire Pet Sound's album.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of the greatest albums in
[SPEAKER_01]: And he was accompanied by Al Jardine, another founding member, Al Jardine's son, who could help Brian out with some of the vocals he could.
[SPEAKER_01]: And remember Brian had issues, serious issues, as many geniuses do, that there are times that sometimes he would just
[SPEAKER_01]: Stop singing and they needed to have the backup singer who was Al's son Matt Jardine pick up the vocals because you know, he's got so much stuff going on in his head, but it was tremendous to see him.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that band toured and it was great and they surrounded themselves with people that like had small parts with the beach boys all along the road and it felt like there was a lot of love in the room now if you go to see the beach boys with Mike love the other touring faction that gets to use the name the beach boys you've got
[SPEAKER_01]: Mike love and what, maybe 15, 20 ringers up there that can sound exactly like the record.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's got John Stamus and he has Blacky Parish, which is part of this story.
[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, Blacky Parish, he's a villain in this story and let me explain why.
[SPEAKER_01]: As a bit of background, I really didn't think of the exposition would go this long.
[SPEAKER_01]: As we do the background of this, do you remember some time ago, a couple of years ago, I think there was much talk on the social media about Frankie Valley of the four seasons.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he couldn't move, he could barely open the mouth.
[SPEAKER_01]: but they were playing tapes of him singing and putting him on stage to really pretend.
[SPEAKER_01]: He would, he looked like Walt Disney in that new example.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's an animatronic.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's go to the tape just so you know what they did with Franky Valley.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yet, the vocal's perfect, well, that's just because that's how good it was sing or he is.
[SPEAKER_01]: You are so antagonist, you are entering my club era.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is, and you know, it's sad to me that is sad.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you've ever seen a performer past their prime on stage, it's depressing and that brings me to my glove.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's done a billion live shows.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's been on every live performance the Beach Boys have ever done.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they recently, I think it was the 21st of this week.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me look over my glasses.
[SPEAKER_01]: That would have been...
[SPEAKER_01]: of this month, I'm sorry, no, I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was the twelfth, a little bit of dyslexia there.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was Monday.
[SPEAKER_01]: They played Rimon Auditorium.
[SPEAKER_01]: Does that name mean anything to you in Nashville?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's the big Nashville.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the Grand Allapree.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's where they do the Grand Allapree originates from the Rimon Auditorium.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's one of the most legendary stages in America.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Ailing Mike Love said he didn't want to miss a performance at the Rimon Auditorium, even though he's been battling some health issues.
[SPEAKER_04]: But he's performing there before, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's performed everywhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: So then it's not that big of deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that if a person is sick and they want to do something.
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember as a kid, I had a fever and all I wanted to do was go to the car show.
[SPEAKER_01]: It, uh, the DC armory because the general Lee was going to be there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: and I wasn't allowed to go because I was sick.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you know why?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because a grown-up said, no, you can't do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but there's two ways.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's people who go to things like this where they are sick and they completely bomb.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: But there's the other side where you rally together, you take all these medicines and for two hours.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like you're not sick and then you just crash completely.
[SPEAKER_04]: We've had both sides of this.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: We've both rallyed through.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is one where they knew that the latter was not going to happen and the former was almost guaranteed because this.
[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, this is where Blackie Parish, John Stamos, is it falling out on why is John Stamos Blackie Parish?
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, because that's the territory played on General Hospital.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so you need to explain that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's my hospital.
[SPEAKER_01]: I never thought it was an Uncle Jesse.
[SPEAKER_01]: He played on a full house, but not Uncle Jesse from the Duke of Hazard.
[SPEAKER_01]: So John Stamos and Mike Loveson come out before the concert, essentially to warn and apologize for what the people are about to see.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't do that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but they do.
[SPEAKER_03]: I just wanted to thank him one way that our illustrious leader, Mike Love, has been dealing with some medical issues, and he just survived the break in surgery, and he's doing great he insisted on being here tonight.
[SPEAKER_03]: Now, right, you can speak to this because you're here.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, here's the sign now.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, like, tell us his son and, you know, member of the family and let's true that some of the darkness probably really should not be your night, but one thing about him is he's stubborn and he's steadfast and he did not want to miss the rhyme.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we're talking about a guy's done over a hundred concerts a year.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, up until his mid 80s.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that.
[SPEAKER_04]: You give a talk like that if you know he's going to come out and and just kick butt right and be amazed and or you give a speech like that to say, sorry, he won't be here tonight.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when you see this tape up about to show you and realize how little he mattered in the final mix of the song, he really could have sat this out.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what they could tour as Mike loves the beach boys without him being there.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you had paid even a medium ticket price, and I'm sure it was higher than medium to see the beach boys and the one beach boy looked like this, you
[SPEAKER_01]: Even you will know this song, Josh.
[SPEAKER_04]: Alright, I don't mind him seated.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't put this in a stage.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, look at the young guys bouncing around and having a blast.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now,
[SPEAKER_01]: that is not him singing.
[SPEAKER_04]: I guess I can tell that he is there like weekend at Bernie's.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what the chair the chair they put him in this it looks like a prescription chair.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now it looks it's like a high top bar chair.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: We want it to be tall like you stand in.
[SPEAKER_01]: right, but he's not.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's slouching in the chair.
[SPEAKER_04]: He would've been better off in a wheel chair.
[SPEAKER_04]: So then you get some sympathy.
[SPEAKER_04]: It looks like they really just put him there.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's looks like they prompted him up and just duct taped him to the chair.
[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I don't wish ill on anybody.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the villain here is not my glove.
[SPEAKER_01]: The villain here are the people that allowed him to do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: he certainly doesn't need the money.
[SPEAKER_01]: The band doesn't need the press to go out there to do this except all they're getting and always bad press.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you say that they still promote a big at Disney, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: November 11th.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're performing an Epcot and I feel like I have to go.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, no.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God, bring a shovel.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do because it's just I really hope they don't make him do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: They did allow him to speak during the concert.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not going to trouble you with thousands of clips.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, let me hear a little.
[SPEAKER_04]: I need to hear a little of him speak.
[SPEAKER_01]: OK, here he is from his medicinal prescription chair.
[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking, right?
[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't want to miss me in the run.
[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see it all.
[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't want to miss me in the run.
[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't want to miss me in the run, man.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't want to miss me in the run, man.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't want to miss me in the run, man.
[UNKNOWN]: When was that?
[SPEAKER_04]: OK, no, don't dance.
[SPEAKER_01]: The dancing is the saddest thing of all.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he's moving his arms like an animatronic.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he did.
[SPEAKER_01]: He may pop it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He makes our president look like Fred Astaire when he dances like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I am, it's really hard for me to defend him, but shame on his handlers, shame on his son, shame on black he perished, it's less John Stamos, less Uncle Jesse for letting him go out there no matter how bad he wants it.
[SPEAKER_01]: If he is stubborn and wants to demand to be on stage, say, okay, Mike, get yourself in better shape and you can return to stage.
[SPEAKER_01]: But he is really
[SPEAKER_01]: his image and the career and the image of the whole band.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it pisses me off is the real touring band title now.
[SPEAKER_04]: Mike Love and the Beach Boys feature in John Stamos.
[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't be surprised.
[SPEAKER_04]: Why did you find an ad that says that?
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, that's what it says for Epcot on November 11th.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's just, that's really too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you really have to throw everyone's name in there?
[SPEAKER_04]: No, you guys don't want their name in there, too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the rest of the guys probably rotate in and out.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look, they're all like,
[SPEAKER_01]: 35 years old and their impressionists.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's all they are.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can play guitar like Carl.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can play drums like Dennis.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can sing like Brian.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can carry my glove and put him in the air.
[SPEAKER_04]: Jim Wright, it is his son traveling and John Stamos and a bunch of touring paid musicians.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not a big deal that it's his son.
[SPEAKER_01]: His son hasn't done anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned before that the other organization, the Pet Sound's Band is storing with Al Jardine, but Al Jardine's son is key because he was like Brian's backup voice when Brian chose not listening.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love show business, I love a concert, I love music and to be honest, I love the beach boys.
[SPEAKER_01]: Their music is timeless and encapsulates an era and a sound and it's an instant transport to what they are trying to communicate and because of that, they don't need to tour anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: and especially even if Mike was in great shape, they don't need to tour anymore because they've already done what they're going to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: And to put him out there like that to me is horrifying.
[SPEAKER_01]: And like like being like a death merchant.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, yes, and that's what it feels like this is the last we're going to see of him.
[SPEAKER_01]: And don't you wouldn't you rather not have this image of him as your last image?
[SPEAKER_04]: He shouldn't be out on stage like this.
[SPEAKER_01]: If they retired after him and his two small shirt in that documentary, documentary was a beautiful thing, even though they made him look fat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just the way they contributed and you know, we talked about rubber soul, the Beatles album last week.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was rubber sole that inspired the beach boys, mostly Brian Wilson, to make pet sounds.
[SPEAKER_01]: And pet sounds inspired the beach boys to make sergeant peppers.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when you think about the fact that there was a time that there were two bands like this, that were just basically throwing it out at each other and challenging each other and saying, we can do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's an amazing time for pop music.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it advanced the entire industry.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's come to this.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: And shame on you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyone that allowed him to hit the stage.
[SPEAKER_01]: Shame on you.
[SPEAKER_04]: I agree.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's not.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can bring him out there and he can sit in the audience.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm out here and he can wave and sit to the side.
[SPEAKER_01]: Would you give him a cam center stage with the problem?
[SPEAKER_01]: put him up in one of those opera boxes that is off the stage but up to the side and they can say and our illustrious leaders here might love and Mike can wave from the audience and they can fool that way because it's just a small look and then they don't have to pretend he's singing he is the equivalent of putting a lava lamp on the stage at this point.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's something to see that doesn't really add to the performance and
[SPEAKER_01]: I am amazed that it bothers me this much, but I think it's a much bigger issue for me.
[SPEAKER_01]: As I watch many performers age, because there are people that are in their 80s that are still through God's sake.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look at Paul McCartney's doing three-hour shows and he is the show.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but the point is no in when to stop you got to and went to not Because yeah now now I'm marking November 11th on my calendar to see them.
[SPEAKER_04]: They've got how much is the ticket?
[SPEAKER_04]: It is in additional free you just go to F-cut.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, because you've already got your ticket.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you have to like get over there early to be able to view because it'll be crowded because People want to see if my glove shows up
[SPEAKER_04]: But my camera zooms in I feel like I need to go and see if what type of cherries in or if they just they what they need to do is stick them like in the corner with With what's a statler and water.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean that I forgot that them then it looks like he's having fun It looks like he's part of this and he doesn't have to perform
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess the thing we're trying to say here is you have to know when you're over the hill, you have to know when it's time to quit because you're just dragging the product down, and thank God Mike got the message.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: The difference is I'm like, I'm like, I'm kidding.
[SPEAKER_04]: Would still get paid because his name's on all this stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: He knows a lot.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's paid for not showing up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just, I'm, you know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, to me it's depressing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe what I need is a, is a gummy.
[SPEAKER_01]: And speaking of which, Josh, if you're sad about my club, I am, but we're also sad because bad news, I don't like to bring bad news to people.
[SPEAKER_01]: but this is bad news for all fans of soul gummies.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's time to say goodbye to a good thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: The soul out of office THC gummies, the thing that got me hooked on them in the first place, they're all going away.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is very sad because thanks to a crooked new national hemp band, thank you big alcohol, that takes effect December 11th,
[SPEAKER_01]: these gummies are about to become a thing of the past.
[SPEAKER_01]: For six years, I soul has offered a delicious alternative to alcohol, and I think for many of those six years, they've actually been a part of this show.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's fun to ever.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's fun to ever sponsor.
[SPEAKER_01]: A great relaxing buzz without booze or the hangover, and I mentioned before, I'm sober now four years or whatever it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: It really is a nice something to go.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't take them every day, but if I have a day, or I just want to relax, or if I want a movie to be funny or scarier, or, you know, if Josh wants to watch something for Higgs next, you take one.
[SPEAKER_01]: It makes you a little chill.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can be anywhere from relax to full on vacation mode, and they're made with USA growing hemp.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're vegan, gluten free, low and sugar delicious.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't say it in the copy, but they actually are.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so whether you're a longtime fan or you're just wanting to give them a try, the clock is ticking.
[SPEAKER_01]: So don't get caught without the ability to buy these out of office gummies because after December 11th, they cannot sell them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now know this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't think you're doing anything cagey or sus as the kids would say because after December 11th, you can have them.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're not illegal to own.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're illegal to buy.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you have them stock up, uh, now through November, I'm sorry, now through December 11, Seoul is offering our listeners up to 80.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, 60% off their entire order.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just go to getsold.com and use the code TMOS that's getsold.com.
[SPEAKER_01]: The promo code TMOS will get you up to 60% off folks.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't wait.
[SPEAKER_04]: Some strengths are actually selling out already and after December 11th, they are gone for good Or at least until the government gets their head out of their ass and passes the law That is what's so irritating about this story is we talk about government and So we try to avoid politics Because everyone hates the government doesn't matter what side you're on precisely this is the exact example of government can't get out of their own way
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I guess it's a big deal in North Carolina because I was seeing that it's a $3 billion company in North Carolina alone.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is a $28 billion business across the country that they are destroying and it comes down to Mitch McConnell, everyone's favorite.
[SPEAKER_04]: By the way, he's singing lead for the beach boys and out.
[SPEAKER_04]: Did you know that?
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: More, let's see a Mike love proof of life.
[SPEAKER_04]: But it's Mitch McConnell and the John Stamos Beach Boys featuring the body of my glove.
[SPEAKER_04]: But you come down and they do all the surveys on what the American people want.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like 75, 80% in favor of keeping the THC how it is.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then you look in bed psych.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's all this big alcohol lobbyist.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because the final sales are down.
[SPEAKER_04]: So they don't care that this is safer than alcohol.
[SPEAKER_04]: They just want sales.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't want.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's safe to figure out a way to overly tax it the way they did to alcohol the 1930s.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure it would come back now.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to go back to being with fake doctors and going and saying, Oh, I feel like I have
[SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're gonna have to go.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all this stuff, it's an amazing product.
[SPEAKER_01]: It truly, truly is.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they've treated our show really well.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you want to treat yourself well and also just say thank you to them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Please go and check them out before it's number one.
[SPEAKER_04]: We both stocked up this week.
[SPEAKER_04]: We tried to make sure we have enough to cover next year.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have a lot of good things left in my life.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't take that away.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, God, I don't even drink real soda anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: Please.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've got one can upstairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saving it.
[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned glaucoma.
[SPEAKER_01]: Josh, your eyes.
[SPEAKER_01]: What is with your eyes?
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: I will say this.
[SPEAKER_01]: You will tell us about your medical issues.
[SPEAKER_01]: If we...
[SPEAKER_01]: ask you about them, but you're not a complainer, you don't bring it up on your own.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we didn't even know about your Superman jump gallbladder thing until we asked you about it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Now, if I, but, yeah, I'll bring stuff to the show.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: If, if it's bothering me, I don't know if you can tell, but my right eye is very red today.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: And here's what happened.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think it was, I don't even think it's been a year since I
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: And ever since I got there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, glow up.
[SPEAKER_04]: My glow up.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: Where they decide where they told me we're only going to do the touch up on one eye so that one eye can see close and one eye can see far.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I hate to interrupt.
[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, I don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I have a question to ask.
[SPEAKER_01]: When you get the touch up,
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it as expensive as the original procedure?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm about to drop a lot of money to get my eyes fixed.
[SPEAKER_04]: Now, here's the thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: When I got the original LASIC, it was free touchups for life.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, that's great.
[SPEAKER_04]: Now I'll tell you at end of the course on like 75 bucks, because they charge you for fees or whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my God.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would stand on my head and smile to hand them 70 points.
[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, let's do it.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I even agreed with that, all right, we'll do the one, because then they say, well, if we do one, you won't need reading glasses.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, and that's great.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the problem is if I lose one eye, everything's blurry in different ways.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, but when you're reading, do you ever have to like wink because it's the one good eye?
[SPEAKER_04]: No, my brain has adjusted to know and somehow blend the images.
[SPEAKER_04]: So it's really only like, I'll tell you where I notice it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, if I'm like watching television and I lay down on a pillow and it blocks one eye.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it's all blurry.
[SPEAKER_04]: I have to block the other eye.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that makes sense so I thought it would be like a vertigo thing if your eyes were literally I know that your eyes combined the image and why you get that but I've I had imagine that would be weird But I'm glad it works for you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, most of the time it's perfectly fine, but here's the problem I started getting this pain in my eye Every now and then when I would wake up and my eye would hurt really bad
[SPEAKER_01]: Now what that happened would Kelly have a sore fist the same morning.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, Kelly is great.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know she doesn't hit you.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no.
[SPEAKER_04]: I went and got I went and got the I done and the it's the eye they did the lasers on.
[SPEAKER_04]: So when they want to go to the six month evaluation, right, I had them.
[SPEAKER_04]: look at my eye and say, hey, every few weeks or whatever, I would up and excruciate in pain.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, oh, yeah, there's a, there's a small abrasion on your eye.
[SPEAKER_04]: You must have gotten hit in the eye with like a branch or a leaf or something.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I was like, well, you would remember that.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I said.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: And they said, no, you probably didn't even realize it because it was so small and now it's acting up.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's something about some type of flap that folds up and gets stuck up inside
[SPEAKER_04]: So they said, oh, yeah, it's nothing we did coming in.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it's just a very fact that the very fact that they said that makes them suspect.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So is this a reputable outfit you went to or is it like a combination?
[SPEAKER_01]: I surgery vape place.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, this one was done in Florida.
[SPEAKER_04]: The one in Maryland was done very well.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Good.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
[SPEAKER_04]: But here's my problem is,
[SPEAKER_04]: it's still continues now and they gave me medicine and I've been creeped out so I haven't put the medicine on and that might be why it's still continuing.
[SPEAKER_01]: You got to do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the drops of the drops are the drops.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not drops.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, what is it?
[SPEAKER_04]: Cream.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a cream where before I go to bed at night, I'm supposed to fall back my eyelid.
[SPEAKER_04]: and put cream on it and then close it and sleep that way.
[SPEAKER_01]: When you were a kid, did you ever ever have any one in your friend click the good turn their eyelids inside out?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's disgusting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, as I was that guy, by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, see, I'm not that guy.
[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to turn my eyelids inside out even if it's to put some cream on, which then I fold up the cream and get the cream stuck under my eyelid and between my eyelid and pupil and then I'm supposed to sleep.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's horrible.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, have you even tried it?
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know you probably went on on chat GPT and asked about it, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've done nothing but ignore it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's morning.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a problem.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I said, I'm going to complain about this.
[SPEAKER_01]: You need to go on to chat GPT and ask something.
[SPEAKER_01]: Say, does it sting?
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, because if it doesn't stay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm worried about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sting in.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's the way to about turn in my eyelid inside out and then you don't even do you don't need God, I take my glasses off.
[SPEAKER_01]: I look like an egg, but when you pull your eyelid out They don't have to be so I could just be like that and then you know, and then work it in it up there No, like an eyedrop, you know, you put the eyedrop just in the corner and it's what it goes in All right, I gotta do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I'll try it when you had your laser surgery.
[SPEAKER_01]: Did they not prescribe that?
[SPEAKER_01]: I got to put these on.
[SPEAKER_04]: They give eyedrops, yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you got through that.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is just a cream.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: The cream part is what weirds me out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe what was it when they were doing steroids in a felon, they'd say, did you have the cream or the clear?
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you need to get the clear.
[SPEAKER_04]: The clear would be a problem, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, a shot and a shot of steroids if that would fix it, no problem.
[SPEAKER_04]: How do you do that?
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I actually have audio from your surgery, which is nice.
[SPEAKER_01]: Here we are.
[SPEAKER_04]: All better.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, yeah, about the same.
[SPEAKER_04]: Linda's asking about my depth perception with pickleball and stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: I haven't noticed that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see that pickleball.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's she mentioning?
[SPEAKER_04]: pickleball specifically.
[SPEAKER_04]: I haven't noticed it when I've been out playing pickleball.
[SPEAKER_04]: I will say when I went from classes 15 years ago to my first lacyk, I went out and played golf the next day, like the next day.
[SPEAKER_04]: I couldn't hit anything.
[SPEAKER_04]: My depth perception was so messed up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you had to like, relearn how to see that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, there's any number of procedures you can get done when I went to see my doctor who I remember described, look like Eugene Levy when he tries to look nice.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's the one that is totally covered by health insurance that literally involves a knife.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I said to Carrie, I said, you know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: given the opportunity.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's not do that one.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then there's one one.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can still be a blind popcaster.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I've been doing it for two years now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Can't even read a book.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then there's one that is $1,500 an eye.
[SPEAKER_01]: that will give you excellent depth.
[SPEAKER_01]: Excellent for what is it?
[SPEAKER_01]: Distance vision.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: It also helps you talk.
[SPEAKER_01]: It will be excellent distance vision.
[SPEAKER_01]: It improves your close-up vision because remember we talked about my eye has M&M candy on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And because of that, it
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll still need readers to read, but it will be a clear image that I'm magnetizing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right, exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God, coming home from the movies the other night.
[SPEAKER_01]: My mom said, are you okay?
[SPEAKER_01]: I said, sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just have to pay attention to the stoplight that's in the middle.
[SPEAKER_04]: because I'm seeing that three- hundred-year-old movie.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm seeing three of everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's literally horrifying.
[SPEAKER_01]: I stopped driving Uber because even during the daytime, I can't read signs.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's a problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: When is your surgery?
[SPEAKER_01]: The first one is in like three weeks, and then the second one is I believe two days after Christmas.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm here with an iPad.
[SPEAKER_01]: You bet your ass I'm buying an iPad, even if I'm not told to have one, I want to look like a pirate.
[SPEAKER_01]: I do.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I've never had eye surgery before.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I am, I mean, I've cheated death before.
[SPEAKER_01]: But this is the first time a medical procedure has me excited.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I'm glad you're excited about it.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'll time it with you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, cream at the same time, so then we're both an iPad.
[SPEAKER_01]: but you're gonna be miserable leading up to that you could you could increase you could just you could cream your own eye today if you want it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but I mean, I'd have to drive like an hour to find a spot to buy it, probably.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, so you don't even have the prescription?
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, well, it's not a prescription.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like over the counter, something.
[SPEAKER_04]: I ordered off Amazon, and then I left it at home, because it's been months of me not doing it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I forgot you're in the, uh, you're in the outer base.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Which, by the way, the 24 hour food line?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Now closest at 10.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's 24 as Stephen Wright would say it's open 24 hours just got in a row right I'm guessing it's because it's off season
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, when you go in there, have they like slacked back?
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got a massive produce section.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it's all, they've got more than normal closed off because they're remodeled and it also.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, hey, speaking of produce, pairs, pairs, all right.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're in season now.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't mind pairs in like a fruit cocktail.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think I ever eat pairs just straight like an apple.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I was at Costco and I was looking at the fruits, um, not customers.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was actually looking at the produce, pardon me a second.
[SPEAKER_04]: Do this at the Costco always has nice produce and they've got the type where they'll roll in things like the weird apples or the gigantic grapes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, and the big, what was the name of their big tantrums that had the big like nipple on them?
[SPEAKER_01]: The Sumos.
[SPEAKER_01]: Those were fantastic, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: They have nothing to do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they are like one fifth of the cost if you buy them at a grocery store.
[SPEAKER_01]: But as a guy who has grocery and produce in his past,
[SPEAKER_01]: Costco is a great place for produce because they buy prime produce, meaning that it's bigger and better.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just the first cut of produce, and also like their meat, they turn it so fast that you're not going to get anything old.
[SPEAKER_01]: The pairs look good, and they were Bartlett pairs, which are the greenish yellow skin.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now you can sometimes find boss pairs, which have like a brown skin that's tougher, but these were Bartlett pairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was there and I said, these look good, I think I'm going to buy, and it's a box like maybe four pounds, so it's like three, three, and two, so maybe it's like eight or nine pairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I love the flavor of a pair, like in a fruit cocktail, as you said.
[SPEAKER_01]: But now that they're ripe and I'm eating them, I had one this morning, and you can eat them like an apple, or you can eat an apple like a pair.
[SPEAKER_01]: But you can also cut them into wedges and then scoop out the seed part and just eat them that way.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, my guess that's how you would eat apple it's you can buy me eating an apple like in your hand as well Okay, I have seen I Isn't pairs what people scoop out the seed and then put like cottage cheese or stuff in it?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and also they're really good if you do like a charcuterie and you pair you pair pairs With like a blue cheese pairs are great with prosciutto because they're sweet and they always never sing
[SPEAKER_01]: And I like the flavor a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's the only fruit that when it gets ripe, the texture of it in your mouth tastes like it's rotten.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, it's very soft.
[SPEAKER_01]: So soft.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm thinking, this tastes really good, but is it off putting that it tastes like this?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so you've never bought like pairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, produce pairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you know them.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I've no desire to pairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: What if I, what if I were to wedge your pair into lovely wedges?
[SPEAKER_01]: D seated it, took the stem out and sent it to you with a nice wheel of blue cheese.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to be blue cheese fan here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, what about if I did it, what if I did it with Prashuto?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like a nice salty Italian ham.
[SPEAKER_04]: How are you going to get the pair to me with it?
[SPEAKER_04]: Not be brown.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll drive.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, your half way here now might as well.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, I'll meet you at Kings Dominion, bring the pairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad you brought that up because remember we auctioned off a day at Kings Dominion with me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I am an ambassador to the park.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yes, I also known as a protector of all rollercoasters.
[SPEAKER_01]: I still don't give them a bad name.
[SPEAKER_01]: Listen, until the details are out, we got to give everybody a better fit of the doubt.
[SPEAKER_04]: I agree with you.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a guys' fault.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a beloved guy.
[SPEAKER_04]: I see those machines go all the time.
[SPEAKER_04]: Thousands of people go through them, something to happen, and somehow it's fault.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for coming to my side.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to do that with Mike.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's more fun to pick on you, but I want your side.
[SPEAKER_01]: Send this tape to Kyle, please.
[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle, you know, if I protect you over there, I get accused for protecting my body.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the winners, we're going on the 24th, which is a week from Saturday.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to meet down there.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are from considerably further north.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're Pennsylvania people, or as we could call them, Pennsylvaniaans.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're actually going to take one of the new in the last few years, Kings Dominion Cabins, that are just in jail.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a cabin you rent, that's adjacent to the park, because that's, it can sleep like hate people or whatever, and it's got a kind of furniture and it's very cool.
[SPEAKER_04]: I would love to do this.
[SPEAKER_04]: I know they've got those down at Disney and whatever the Disney camp ground is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that's where you can go and see Mitch McConnell and Mike Love and the Disney cabins.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're all there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I just wanted to say that with you being in the outer banks, do you think you will be in the outer banks on the 24th and if so, but you make it up for the day?
[SPEAKER_04]: it's all a big maybe.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: I have got to take it for out my schedule yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Got to take it for you.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to pay for parking, but of course.
[SPEAKER_01]: I understand.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a while since we've hit the arcades together.
[SPEAKER_04]: And you have informed the listeners, we now have new waivers that they have to sign that if they fall out of a roller coaster, we are not held liable.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's right, and also they're responsible for all damage to the haunted house if they land on the haunted house and if you fall out of a roller coaster it is your fault it is not the I don't care how beloved you are something wrong something If you're strapped broke while you're on the roller coaster, I'm sorry you should have told the person before it took off.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah
[SPEAKER_01]: And you were probably pulling at it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I bet that the strap had like a loose string on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you tug at it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like the top of a bag of dog food and the whole thing just unravels.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like a cable and it's wet.
[SPEAKER_04]: Or, you know, you go on and you're like, well, this feels pretty loose, but it's comfortable loose like this.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't like it super tight.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm just gonna ride with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like you go up it's like my beautiful hoodie I'm wearing today.
[SPEAKER_01]: You go up a size in a hoodie because it's comfy But so I wanted to know at least keep it in mind that the 24th we're gonna rope drop and folks if you're not in ambassador Or you should know that means be there for park opening Yeah, rope drops for them Yeah, the three different national anthem
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly exactly and that's an 11 o'clock.
[SPEAKER_01]: I look forward to seeing the listeners there I know that Sharon Bailey is planning on coming and I've got family that might be coming Carry might even come because I don't think she's been but once this year.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've heard that before.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know I've heard it a lot But yeah, Kings Dominion it is the it's spooky season So they will be doing the the Halloween hunt But that really kicks off at night time.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're not into people jumping out of the boo holes
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you can get a scare necklace, or don't scare me necklace.
[SPEAKER_01]: How much, but who has the money?
[SPEAKER_01]: The boon necklace is pretty expensive.
[SPEAKER_01]: I might, you know, what?
[SPEAKER_01]: I might go with the, uh, I might go with the being scared.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as, and as you said, your biggest fear of going to fight night is when they jump out, you punch them in the face.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's my reaction.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is spooky season.
[SPEAKER_01]: And hope we see you in King's domain.
[SPEAKER_01]: With, uh, oh, I believe they will debut the warm cider, which is also nice.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, things don't look like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't like hot apple cider?
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe, you know what?
[SPEAKER_04]: It's in an ace.
[SPEAKER_04]: It only if it's a nice cool day.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, why not, that's why they're not serving it in August, Josh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, that's better.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's been a long time since I've had a nice cool fall day.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're getting closer though, because you did head north.
[SPEAKER_01]: You headed north a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you're getting closer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, are there any like fall-styled foods that you just totally don't do because you're in Florida?
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, well, I, I think I've told you before.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have a fire pit in the backyard with nice chairs around it that has been in my backyard since I moved into the house three years ago.
[SPEAKER_04]: Because, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know
[SPEAKER_04]: What's there?
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not been a single cool day and all I want to do is sit around the fire pit.
[SPEAKER_04]: I loved it so much in Maryland that I said, it's going to get cool enough in January that I consider on the fire pit.
[SPEAKER_04]: Watch the football game and just enjoy myself a fire pit is great.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have one.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't get used enough, but every time I use it, I love what if you inflore to fill your fire pit with like dry ice or free on or something?
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I was a refrigeration pit.
[SPEAKER_04]: Can I get the atmosphere of a fire pit right by putting one of those Mr. fans in the middle and set around it?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you could you could but how do I get the problem is the noise of the fan?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know what, I deal with that because my fire pit is not far away from my air conditioning and heating unit.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if it's running, I get that too.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if we do that, we have to turn off the heating and cooling while we're out there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise it just started.
[SPEAKER_04]: I've had to do that before as well.
[SPEAKER_04]: The problem with your- The problem with your- The problem with your- The problem with your- The problem with your- The problem with your- The problem with your-
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think one of the magical things about a fire pit is the mixture of cold air around you being offset by the warmth of the fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I love a hoodie.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love a hoodie.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's so great.
[SPEAKER_01]: At the Christmas tree stand when I sold Christmas trees, we had a fire barrel, which was
[SPEAKER_01]: when it was called a lifesaver.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was just like an old 55 gallon oil barrel that we put up on cinder blocks.
[SPEAKER_01]: And here's a helpful hint.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to knock holes around the bottom of it, or the fire won't draft right.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to get air down there.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's the whole thing with the what's that popular like metal fire pit thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: The one I have, they were a sponsor, they weren't.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's do it.
[SPEAKER_04]: The whole theory is there's holes at the bottom.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's so it's a more smoke-free.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's fantastic.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we had the fire pit and we would use it to roast hot dogs and burn trash, which I'm sure wasn't legal.
[SPEAKER_01]: But in addition to keeping those want customers loved it, they would come out and you know, it made it sort of a community thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then weed would charge them a lot of money for a tree.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right for the heat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the paper that would.
[SPEAKER_04]: When I had a fire pit,
[SPEAKER_04]: I, in Maryland, I would also have a problem where I would go through uh, keep shoes and sweatpants because they would melt because I would just sick too close to the fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've done it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, speaking of pants.
[SPEAKER_01]: What about your pants?
[SPEAKER_01]: My pants.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the update on Josh's pants.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, when we talked last week, I figured they've got to be Owen's pants.
[SPEAKER_04]: They have to because I don't know anyone that goes to SAMHSAB.
[SPEAKER_04]: So Owen came home from school.
[SPEAKER_04]: I had some mouth to pants.
[SPEAKER_04]: He said, no, I wouldn't wear those.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I said, was he a statement?
[SPEAKER_01]: Was he a naked, did he make it awkward?
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I said, well, are there your dads?
[SPEAKER_04]: Somehow, my dad wouldn't wear sweat pants.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, or joggers as he calls him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but most of my videos for his dad.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, I've got to be.
[SPEAKER_04]: I said it's it's Sam's club.
[SPEAKER_04]: We don't try Sam's club.
[SPEAKER_04]: You did your dad's shop at Sam's club.
[SPEAKER_04]: He goes, no, I said, when who do you know that shops at Sam's club?
[SPEAKER_04]: Because I did not bring these in and he insists, well, no, you got him from the bands, which I know is not a fact.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not happy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever acquired anything at the bin that made its way into your wardrobe?
[SPEAKER_01]: I would guess not.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have.
[SPEAKER_04]: I do have a t-shirt that went from the bins to my wardrobe.
[SPEAKER_04]: And many pieces of clothing that have gone from the bins to my daughters.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, but that's kids, you know, that's fine, but just for folks keeping his forehead home, one shirt for Josh.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think it's one shirt from me out of the bins.
[SPEAKER_04]: Very good.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it was a shirt that I got that had a few stains in it that I didn't realize had stains.
[SPEAKER_04]: If I could sell it for 20 bucks, I would've sold it, but it was okay wearing the stains shirt.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't know where I go.
[SPEAKER_04]: Did they go here?
[SPEAKER_04]: Did they look like I tell if my shirt is covered in stains?
[SPEAKER_04]: Were they like food stains or more biological?
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[SPEAKER_04]: in relation to me, that shop at Sam's Club.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, one of them is Ms. Scarlet, and the other is Professor Beacon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, no, I've never done that they have arrived in my house through Owen's suitcase.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, without him knowing it, whether he was wearing it or not, it came into our home through his suitcase because- Oh, and not knowing that he had them.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, Owen, not knowing.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, let me write that down and we need a show titled some time.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, he brought them, but how did they find their way into the suitcase inspector Cluso?
[SPEAKER_01]: By grandparents, because the greatest generation.
[SPEAKER_04]: Kelly's.
[SPEAKER_04]: Kelly's stepdad, who passed the few years ago, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: Would shop at Sam's club once a week?
[SPEAKER_04]: So we're like, well, maybe they came from him and maybe for some reason they were putting his suitcase for Owen, or the other person that shops at Sam's club Yes?
[SPEAKER_04]: Is Owen's other grandfather?
[SPEAKER_04]: Also a Sample guy his dad's dad because they're all from this small town in Georgia and there is a Sample Club up there The Sample Club Okay, that makes sense.
[SPEAKER_04]: So it's one of their do the sizes do the sizes match up.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know
[SPEAKER_01]: You're doing a lousy job of detective work if you haven't even checked the size.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, well, I haven't called them.
[SPEAKER_04]: Am I supposed to call these these people and say, what size pants do you wear?
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, no, I mean, you could estimate.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you've seen them before.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, I think we're about the same size.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Grace.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I think it lines up.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, they were a 36 like me.
[SPEAKER_04]: And here's the thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: The pants were a little big on me.
[SPEAKER_04]: Just a little bit.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that all lines up.
[SPEAKER_04]: So the end story is I got a pair of pants.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're really soft.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're nice and loose.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's how you like those pants.
[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm keeping them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's moderately satisfying that we have this answer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that it's going to get back to either grandfather?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it won't get back to one, certainly.
[SPEAKER_01]: But if it gets back to the paternal grandfather, he'll demand them back.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think anyone will demand them back.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's also the case that a grandparent purchased them for Owen.
[SPEAKER_04]: Owen refused to wear them and they ended up in the suit case, so there's a chance of that as well.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and not knowing.
[SPEAKER_01]: A speaking of Sam's club, you know what, you and I love Costco.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, have we ever addressed BJs?
[SPEAKER_01]: The shopping club, I should say, not the lovely act, not the sports bar, not that either.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, BJ's in high school BJ's was the local warehouse store for me.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I used to have a BJ's membership.
[SPEAKER_04]: I used to shop there a lot.
[SPEAKER_04]: I have not been to a BJ's in 40 years.
[SPEAKER_04]: Here's something about the math doesn't work up.
[SPEAKER_04]: 20 years?
[SPEAKER_04]: Long time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, something about BJs that is, uh, I've heard about this today and it's pretty, I think that Costco treats their employees pretty well.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when times have been excessively lean in the broadcast industry, applying at Costco would have been one of my first jobs that I thought of because I love the industry and I love the best home.
[SPEAKER_01]: Very close to home, but I've never heard Costco do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: BJ's wholesale club surprises more than 30,000 hourly employees with a gift card each, totaling $25 million dollars.
[SPEAKER_01]: They gave away $25 million in gift cards to their employees as a bonus.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Now here's the problem.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's very nice.
[SPEAKER_04]: How is that a problem?
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a good thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's very nice.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's very nice.
[SPEAKER_04]: Here's what I hate when corporations do this stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's some type of tax right off gimmick.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's always something where they end up the winner.
[SPEAKER_04]: And you can part of it is immediately clear.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a gift card to BJ's, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think if gift cards to go out the dinner or something, it's here's a gift card.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's internal.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's internal.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, pay for your groceries.
[SPEAKER_04]: So we get the money back.
[SPEAKER_04]: So now we are looking.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're getting really good PR for giving gift cards to our own stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's some type of tax money that there's always something you've been so fussy ever since your eye has needed that cream This is a lovely store and you know, they've got a history of it Five years ago, they gave out eight million dollars in gift cards and you know if you think about it It's they're give last time they did a hundred and fifty dollars to every part timer and $300 to every full timer and The quote from the industry is I'm sorry the company's chairman is
[SPEAKER_01]: BJ's wholesale club is driven by a powerful purpose.
[SPEAKER_01]: We take care of the family's who depend on us.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's...
[SPEAKER_01]: Even if it's a right off, if you're a part-time employee, and you know that if you're at BJs anyway, you're going to shop at BJs because you're there, it'd be great to get 150 bucks, or three bucks.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's like getting cash, because you know it's going to get invested right back into the store.
[SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever had a job where you got a bonus of any sort?
[SPEAKER_04]: I have, I've gotten good bonuses.
[SPEAKER_04]: The end, I've had issues where I've had clients give me bigger bonuses than my boss.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I guess that would be a tip.
[SPEAKER_04]: A tip.
[SPEAKER_04]: You right.
[SPEAKER_04]: I've had Christmas tips that are bigger than my Christmas bonus.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have, I have had, and I've had,
[SPEAKER_04]: And I've had jobs where a percentage of sales or whatever goes into my bonus, and that's always a lie.
[SPEAKER_04]: They always finagled the numbers, so it never makes sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: If they complicated to that point, then they're trying to stay ahead of the game.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that a bonus should be literally in an envelope that is handed to you on December 23rd or 24th or whatever, and there's nothing better.
[SPEAKER_01]: We used to get tips if we had to deliver furniture that required assembly, like a bed frame, say, you know, we'd deliver it, but it would still be rails in a headboard and a footboard where we have to put it together, and if you do a good job and you don't bang the wall, you usually get a tip for that.
[SPEAKER_01]: When I worked at the furniture store, we all chipped in at Christmas and gave the owner, my grandfather, we gave him a present at Christmas, but there weren't bonuses
[SPEAKER_04]: But he treat us well all year round and I've had the and I've had the bosses that say well the Christmas the bonus is that you have a job and I hate that argument because it's like well you have it because it's like or no or it's the Oh, no, we thank you all the time with your paycheck
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and that's not really a bonus like that's not a thank you me that is paying me for the hours of work I did for exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is a great deal.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I do work.
[SPEAKER_01]: You do you give me money and I think the bonus is also recognizing Like being a faithful employee being a good employee all of that for a while we did bonuses on the micromarish show
[SPEAKER_01]: Mostly to not for the principles mostly for the people that worked on live in here.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you came way too late.
[SPEAKER_01]: I did it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Way too late for any of that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: I need to get a bike.
[SPEAKER_04]: No.
[SPEAKER_04]: But here is I found BJ's loophole.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: What is it now?
[SPEAKER_04]: They're being very nice and saying by given the gift card.
[SPEAKER_04]: to the, to the part time employees.
[SPEAKER_04]: It means that employee gets the $4,000 and we don't have to pull out any for taxes like we would a normal bonus.
[SPEAKER_04]: Which makes it which is nice, but, but, but, but because it is considered cash equivalent gifts.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, the payroll taxes are then treated as ordinary and necessary business expenses and the BJAs will be able to deduct the entire 25 million dollar payout from its taxable income.
[SPEAKER_01]: I hate everything.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's, I brought what I would talk to companies.
[SPEAKER_01]: I thought I was bringing a really nice story.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a nice story.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's also where our tax system is screwed up.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you see there whether or not the employees get taxed on it as income?
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's something anyway.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's good.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's, and that was, and that's what BJ says is by giving the gift cards.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're not taxed on it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Which is great.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's good for the individual employee.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's just, and I guess in the end, I'd rather have that $25 million go to the employees than go to the government.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: But it's, there's always a loophole.
[SPEAKER_01]: When we bonus in the early years of the micomercial remember giving Pony a bonus, a maddie got a bonus, we usually sent a gift to dude Walker because he was so generous with us.
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel that if people go to stilltalkinpodcast.com and become a founder, which is very important.
[SPEAKER_01]: If we can get just a few more founders, we can bonus all the employees that's still talking this Christmas.
[SPEAKER_04]: That would be nice.
[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, that works on the Christmas last Christmas.
[SPEAKER_04]: I believe I got a text message.
[SPEAKER_01]: How was it, was it kind?
[SPEAKER_04]: No.
[SPEAKER_04]: In fact, it might have been the day after.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oftentimes, it's a day late and a dollar short.
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, thank you to our current founders, but we could always use this Jerry would say,
[SPEAKER_01]: So please go to still talk in podcast, TALK, IN, the extra G stands for good.
[SPEAKER_01]: We throw that away.
[SPEAKER_01]: Still talk in podcast.com and become a founder.
[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, it's not just a shakedown.
[SPEAKER_01]: It gets you all of the founders day content that's already out there.
[SPEAKER_01]: It gets you the Friday bonus show for an entire year.
[SPEAKER_01]: You get a T-shirt and a good pin and grab the most important thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: It gives you our gratitude for 12 months.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think the founder's number is pretty cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the founder's number is very good.
[SPEAKER_01]: And while we're looking back, I know you say last Christmas, you got a text.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, last Christmas, I gave you my heart.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there you go.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so this has been number 07.
[SPEAKER_01]: How do you think it went?
