The night before her 45th birthday after being diagnosed with breast cancer, she wrote down 45 life lessons and eventually turned them into a bestselling book. \nI’ve used some of her life lessons, which I’ve included below along with my own personal thoughts and insights to hopefully motivate and inspire us all to be a little better and cherish what we have, not what we don’t.\nI hope you find one or two thoughts in today’s episode that inspires you to want to be inspirational.\nRegina’s 45 life lessons.\nLife isn’t fair, but it’s still good.\nWhen in doubt, just take the next small step.\nLife is too short to waste time hating anyone.\nDon’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.\nPay off your credit cards every month.\nYou don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.\nCry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.\nIt’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.\nSave for retirement starting with your first paycheck.\nWhen it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.\nMake peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.\nIt’s OK to let your children see you cry.\nDon’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.\nIf a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.\nEverything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.\nLife is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.\nYou can get through anything if you stay put in today.\nA writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.\nIt’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.\nWhen it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.\nBurn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.\nOverprepare, then go with the flow.\nBe eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.\nThe most important sex organ is the brain.\nNo one is in charge of your happiness except you.\nFrame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”\nAlways choose life.\nForgive everyone everything.\nWhat other people think of you is none of your business.\nTime heals almost everything. Give time time.\nHowever good or bad a situation is, it will change.\nYour job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.\nBelieve in miracles.\nGod loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.\nWhatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.\nGrowing old beats the alternative – dying young.\nYour children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.\nRead the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.\nGet outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.\nIf we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.\nDon’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.\nGet rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.\nAll that truly matters in the end is that you loved.\nEnvy is a waste of time.
