In March 2026, Joseph Duggar was arrested on Florida felony charges alleging misconduct with a minor during a 2020 family vacation. He is presumed innocent and faces legal proceedings.Gothard is ninety-one. He has denied all allegations. He has never been criminally charged. IBLP still operates from Texas. Its materials are still available. The broader movement it helped build — the intersection of fundamentalist Christianity, political ambition, and homeschooling without meaningful oversight — didn't end when Gothard stepped down.
