{"type":"rich","version":"1.0","title":"Why More Clients Isn't the Answer | #190","description":"Do you more clients, or do you actually need a better business structure? This episode is for the business owner who thinks the answer is more people through the door, when the real issue might be pricing, delivery, boundaries, or the clients already in the business.\n\nMore clients sounds like the obvious answer.\n\nMore clients means more money. More money means everything gets easier. Lovely idea.\n\nBut it does not always work like that.\n\nIn this episode, I’m talking about why adding more clients can sometimes make your business harder to run. More people often means more admin, more delivery time, more messages, more pressure, and more cracks showing in the parts of the business that already need attention.\n\nSometimes the problem is not client numbers.\n\nIt’s pricing that does not reflect the real time and energy involved. It’s over-delivery that has become normal. It’s scope creep. It’s vague boundaries. It’s taking on clients who are not a good fit because money is money, except sometimes that money costs far too much.\n\nI share a couple of stories from my own business, including clients I should never have taken on and the lessons they taught me about red flags, payment terms, boundaries, and listening to your own judgement.\n\nBecause a client who looks good on paper can still be a nightmare in practice.\n\nAnd a business can be fully booked and still not be making enough money.\n\nThat’s the bit that matters here. More clients might help, but only if the structure underneath works. Otherwise, you’re just scaling the problem.\n\n🧡 In this episode, I talk about:\n\n why more clients are not always the answer\n how undercharging and over-delivering can eat into profit\n why client fit matters more than just filling your diary\n the real cost of vague boundaries and scope creep\n what to look at before chasing more enquiries\n\nIf you’ve been thinking “I just need more clients”, this episode will help you look at that more honestly.\n\nBecause sometimes the better question is:\n\nHow do I make this work better with the clients I already have?\n\n💥 If this episode resonated, you can find me on Instagram, LinkedIn, or at https://libbylangley.com\n📧 I also send emails for when your brain won’t shut up and you need a bit of perspective: https://libbylangley.com/email\n📙 My book Life in Business is an easy-to-read, neurodivergent-friendly guide to building the business you actually want: https://libbylangley.com/book\n🔧 If your business needs a proper reset, the Business Sort-Out is me stepping into your business with you to make it more profitable and easier to run: https://libbylangley.com/sortout","author_name":"Messy Business - with Libby Langley","author_url":"https://audioboom.com/channels/5091475-messy-business-with-libby-langley","provider_name":"Audioboom","provider_url":"https://audioboom.com","width":480,"height":95,"thumbnail_url":"https://audioboom.com/i/43158415/600x600/c","thumbnail_width":600,"thumbnail_height":600,"html":"<iframe width=\"100%\" height=\"95\" src=\"https://embeds.audioboom.com/posts/8904904/embed?v=202301\" style=\"background-color: transparent; display: block; padding: 0; width: 100%\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"allowtransparency\" scrolling=\"no\" title=\"Audioboom player\" allow=\"autoplay\" sandbox=\"allow-downloads allow-forms allow-popups allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-storage-access-by-user-activation allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation\"></iframe>"}
