And if somebody genuinely believed he'd catch a ride with another group — what was he supposed to do out there if that ride never came?\n\nJackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter has said one of Nolan's friends was the first to report it, contacting the Coast Guard around eleven that night, with Nolan's mother, Christine Wonsley, contacting the sheriff's office around midnight. Authorities have said they believe he drowned and don't suspect foul play, while also stating investigators are still working to determine exactly what occurred.\n\nCause and manner of death remain unreleased. Attorney Ben Crump is leading an independent investigation. The district attorney intends to present the case to a grand jury.\n\nBring your questions.
