She has never given law enforcement a single statement — she was hospitalized from that night forward, which means a jury has to reconstruct her state of mind from medication records, timelines, and search history rather than from her.\n\nEvery ending here is a loss. A conviction means prison for life. An acquittal by reason of insanity means a hospital and reviews.
