Prosecutors say that's where he met Celeste Rivas Hernandez, both of them still teenagers, and the connection continued for years without anyone in either of their lives stepping in.\nAt seventeen, newly signed to Darkroom and Interscope, Burke introduced an alter ego, Itami, the Japanese word for pain, an agent of chaos wearing a blindfold, built from a manga concept about a detective whose double commits the murders he investigates. He put that character on camera holding a knife, taking a woman's arm.\nThen the physical evidence entered the record. Investigators matched cuts on an inflatable pool in Burke's garage to fragments found on Celeste's leggings. DNA connected the Tesla and the home directly to her. A criminalist testified about real blood scrubbed from the garage near shelves of fake blood used for props. Cell tower data placed the Tesla in Santa Barbara County three times in the weeks after she allegedly died.\nShe was fourteen when she went to his home on April 23, 2025, and was never heard from again. Her remains surfaced in his Tesla months later, the day after what would have been her fifteenth birthday. Burke has pleaded not guilty.
