Researchers describe episodes where disorientation and total clarity trade places inside the same day, which is why a patient can look fine in a twenty-five-minute appointment.\n\nShavaun addresses the timing. This illness normally shows up within days or weeks of a birth. Callan had turned eight months.\n\nShe separates psychosis from psychopathy, explains where an intrusive thought stops and a command voice starts, and takes on why Clancy told her providers one thing and her husband another. She closes on the fact prosecutors lean on hardest: that Clancy scheduled her own appointments, advocated for herself, and presented with clear, linear thinking right up to the day before.\n\nHer memoir, Nightbird, draws on the same clinical background. Two more parts follow this one.\n\nClancy survived a suicide attempt the same day and is paraplegic. She attends her trial in a wheelchair.
