She admits causing their deaths. The not criminally responsible claim rests on postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder. A 2017 review in BMC Psychiatry puts postpartum psychosis at roughly one or two births in a thousand, and it usually arrives within days or weeks of delivery. Callan was eight months old.\n\nPart two examines the clinicians. Dr. Jennifer Tufts treated Clancy across fourteen video sessions without ever meeting her, and testified she relied on Clancy to volunteer whatever mattered. Dr. Alia Goodheart testified her caseload had never included one.\n\nPart three covers bipolar disorder, raised by a nurse practitioner in 2022 and written on the McLean discharge as severe depression with no psychotic features noted.\n\nNightbird is her published memoir. Both doctors dispute the malpractice claims.\n\nThe McLean admission began January 1, 2023 and ended with a discharge four days later. She has been in a wheelchair throughout the proceedings.
