Nancy's friend Lauren Serpa said a sender claimed the 84-year-old was alive in Mexico and demanded six Bitcoin. The contact included purported proof of life that Coffindaffer says showed signs of AI generation. By September 29, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said investigators had reviewed the message and found it not credible.\n\nNancy vanished after returning to her Catalina Foothills home on January 31. The FBI later recovered video showing a masked, armed individual at her front door. Her pacemaker monitor missed its scheduled transmission at 2:28 a.m. on February 1.
