The prosecution has asked Hippler to throw out Kohberger's petition without any hearing at all, calling his claims bare and unsupported. The defense cites Hippler's sentencing language  —  calling Kohberger's acts grotesque evil and saying he found nothing redeeming  —  as proof the judge cannot be impartial. They also want the case moved back to Latah County. Family attorney Jason Goldman says this is the beginning of a longer fight.
