Troika urge leaders to accept IGAD compromise peace deal

Government and the SPLA in opposition face an uphill task to reach a final deal by mid August after almost 19 months of negotiations.

With the IGAD Plus compromise draft agreement unveiled and handed over to chief negotiators, it is hoped final deliberations will iron out the remaining sticking points.

According to the IGAD plan, an agreement could be reached on August 17th.

The Troika nations (Britain, United States and Norway), are calling on the parties to adopt the deal and put an end to the suffering of the people.

Donald Booth, the US Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan says the proposed agreement offers the best way to peace for South Sudan.
