rich 1.0 Chief Negotiator for the SPLM In Opposition, Taban Deng Gai has spoken to Radio Miraya about the ongoing IGAD led peace process. Both sides of the conflict were presented with a compromise peace deal last week in Addis Ababa and returned to their camps to explore the deal and prepare for peace talks to resume. According to the current IGAD schedule, the organization hopes a final peace deal can be signed by August 17. Taban Deng Gai told Miraya's Sebit William the leadership of the SPLM-IO / SPLA-IO will travel to Pagak, Unity State to explore the latest IGAD proposal. He says it is important to bring a swift end to the fighting. "We need a quick settlement," he says. "But what you want is a settlement that will not bring (more) crisis.The objective is for better and lasting peace."
