rich 1.0 A 27-year-old Navy lieutenant was arrested and charged with murder for allegedly killing his pregnant girlfriend because she refused to have an abortion. As a result of a call about a body on the side of the road on July 21, Hanover County deputies responded to Winns Church and Greenwood roads at 7:01 a.m. Raquiah Paulette King, 20, was identified as the deceased, and her death was ruled a homicide by the Hanover County Medical Examiner. The Hanover County Sheriff's Office announced investigators arrested Emmanuel Dewayne Coble for first-degree murder and use of a firearm in a crime almost a month after finding her body. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Coble is a junior grade lieutenant in the Navy. As a Navy spokesperson told Richmond Times-Dispatch, "The Navy is cooperating with law enforcement agencies in this case, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the victim's family and friends." When she died, Coble was three months pregnant and in a romantic relationship with King. As reported by WTVR-TV, Coble allegedly told King to get an abortion, which he paid for. She changed her mind about the abortion once they got to the clinic, according to court documents. Prosecutors claim Coble became frustrated about her decision and shot her. Other charges are pending in connection with the death of the unborn child, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. According to jail records, Coble is currently being held without bond.
