Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis are transforming the cult 1979 Walter Hill movie into a full stage musical based on their acclaimed concept album. Their version reimagines the Warriors as an all-female gang and combines hip-hop, rock, salsa and R&B. Can the gritty story of a Coney Island gang fighting its way home survive the jump to Broadway, or does turning The Warriors into a Lin-Manuel Miranda musical completely miss what made the original movie work?
