Her outpatient psychiatrist finished residency in July 2022 and joined a private practice the month before Clancy became a patient. The McLean physician who cleared her to go home said she does not think she has treated a case of the condition at issue. Neither knew about two calls Clancy made to a crisis line. The Alex Murdaugh material is paper. The state wants his own prior testimony read to a new jury. The defense wants a signed certification that the files have been searched again, and it wants DNA from under Maggie Murdaugh's fingernails sent to an outside lab before the state's analysts touch what is left. Underneath both sits one behavioral question. When a professional testifies they saw nothing, how do you tell an absence from a blind spot? Dreeke spent years assessing exactly that in counterintelligence interviews, where the useful signal was rarely in what a subject volunteered. On all three first-degree murder counts, Clancy pleaded not guilty and is presumed innocent. Murdaugh's verdicts fell over what a court clerk said to jurors, and with them vacated he is presumed innocent at the retrial. Judge Debra McCaslin has tentatively set that trial for April 5, 2027.
