In Lindsay Clancy's case, the psychiatrist who made that call later testified she had never treated a patient with postpartum psychosis. Not guilty is the plea on all three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Cora, Dawson, and Callan at their Duxbury home. That much both sides accept. Reddington argues postpartum illness stripped her of criminal responsibility. Prosecutors maintain the killings were intentional and rational acts. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski for the second of three conversations, and this one goes at the clinicians. Dr. Alia Goodheart testified she had no concerns about Clancy's safety or anyone else's at discharge, and that Clancy had never stated any thoughts of harming another person. Asked how many women with postpartum psychosis she had treated, she paused and said she had not seen any. Dr. Jennifer Tufts, who treated Clancy by video from September 2022 through the day before the children died, testified she did not obtain records from any other provider and did not have Clancy sign releases. She testified she was not certain how rare postpartum psychosis even is. Shavaun works through what happens when a patient is herself a clinician. Clancy was a labor and delivery nurse, and every provider took her at her word. The conversation does not run one direction. Shavaun credits the nurse practitioner who gave Clancy her personal cell number and called on a day off, and explains what separated that care from the rest. The civil defendants deny they did anything wrong. The five-day McLean stay ran from January 1 to January 5, 2023. Goodheart testified she wanted to keep observing Clancy's sleep after discharge, and that sleep deprivation can contribute to a manic episode. Tufts testified she had finished her residency in July 2022, a month before Clancy's first appointment with her.
