rich 1.0 Savannah sits down with author and advocate Shira Boehler for one of her most eye-opening conversations yet. At 43 years old, Shira was healthy, active, a runner, and had never smoked a day in her life when a preventative scan revealed stage one lung cancer. What started as a routine appointment she almost canceled turned into the moment that saved her life.Shira opens up about the shocking diagnosis, the doctors who initially told her not to worry, and the reality that lung cancer is increasingly affecting young, healthy women who don’t fit the stereotype people associate with the disease. She and Savannah talk about the importance of advocating for yourself, the failures within the healthcare system, and why so many women are being overlooked when it comes to early screening and prevention. The conversation also gets deeply personal as Shira shares how cancer impacted her marriage, her children, and her faith, all while her husband was working on hostage negotiations overseas.
