Reflective Moments August 19, 2010
REFLECTIVE MOMENTS ~ August 19, 2010 Affirmations for Mama’s for Fertility, Pregnancy, Childbirth, Parenting & More! I use the word NO with authority today. By using the word NO I establish boundaries around my time, my resources, and my family. There is only so much time in the day. I admit that I am not Wonder Woman. I cannot be everything to everyone. Nor can I be everywhere for everyone. So today I reclaim my personal space and make my family the priority it needs to be. Sorry for not replying to this sooner - I kept meaning too, you know how it is... :\ Anyway, it seems very early to be thinking about potty training, but he's showing some good signs so it certainly wouldn't hurt to get a potty and start getting him used to the idea. I was very reassured by the Health Visitor at Catherine's two and a half year check who said that potty training is entirely a developmental thing, not a "taught" or "learned" thing - they won't be ready until they have a certain amount of bladder control.
Reflective Moments July 26, 2010
REFLECTIVE MOMENTS July 26, 2010 I am resolved to parent in a gentle, calm, and loving way. Each and every day is an opportunity for me to get it right! Each day I have the opportunity to consciously connect with my children in a loving way. I want to parent in a way that teaches my children to be gentle, respectful, loving, and calm. When I feel myself losing patience I will take a moment and remove myself from the situation, take a deep breath, and start over again. I am not perfect but I do have the opportunity each and every day to start new, fresh, and try to do what I believe is best for my children. Gender stereotypes & being me @r2uk @pewari
Loved hearing your take on gender topic. I've always found the most interesting people to be the ones who don't conform to stereotypes! That's a gorgeous embroidered elephant. :-)
Toya Carter, one half of Tiny and Toya, has continued with her reality TV show minus Tiny on BET. She has quite a full on life, looking after her brothers, assisting her mother to get on the straight and narrow, and she also has an pre-teen daughter, so as you can imagine her hands are fairly full! Whilst growing up Toya didn't have the leadership she was looking for in her parents, and so she kept a journal. Writing down her thoughts, feelings and experiences was her way of releasing pent up emotion. Her first publication, “Priceless Inspirations” details all the life lessons she has learned, and she shares some experiences on the way. We had a brief chat about the show and the book - take a listen.
