Trenton Oldfield was jailed for six months after he swam across the River Thames and brought the Oxford versus Cambridge Boat Race to a halt. The 37 year old Australian said that he wanted to protest at inequality and elitism in British society. He was charged with 'public nuisance'.

His wife, Deepa Naik is the cofounder of the urban activist group 'This is Not a Gateway', and she claims that his sentence was increased due to poltical pressure.

The Boat Race is an historic feature of the British social calendar and attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators each year.

Tim Ecott asked Deepa Naik if she understood why people were annoyed at her husband's protest action.
