The 1949 Boat Race. Back then, outside broadcasts were not quite as sophisticated as now. Mind you, here's an event on which they'd been doing commentary since 1927.
The commentator here is the great John Snagge, known for his Wartime news bulletins. He's done the Boat Race for years, so is utterly accomplished. Mind you, frankly, one boat looks much the same as another - from a distance.
