Should high income families get child benefit too?

Ed Balls has told the Labour Party Conference he would extend the coalition's cap on increases in Child Benefit - due to expire in 2016 - for a further year. But campaigners have said this freeze would hit families - and especially single parents - very hard. So how much should child benefit be protected, especially when times are tough - is it right that families earning up to £50,000 are entitled to it?
