Dig Tunneller Dig

A poem inspired while rehearsing for the Southwark Mysteries play which we performed at Southwark Cathedral in 2010. This was written while I was rehearsing the play. We performed some snippets of the play and our own work at The Scoop near London Bridge , before performing the actual play at Southwark Catherdal.

One of the roles I had was a jubilee line tunneller, building the extension to the jubilee line in 1996. The tunnellers came across an unconsecrated burial ground along Red Cross way and were told to smash the bones. I imagine most were uncomfortable with doing this, hence the inspiration for this poem.
