An Opera for Carlow - Athena Media

From May 2010 - May 2011 Athena Media followed the story of 'An Opera for Carlow', the story of a community arts project in Carlow. The radio series featured on RTÉ lyric fm monthly and culminated in an hour long documentary.

On the 14th November on RTÉ lyric fm at 6.30pm the full opera which was performed in the GB Shaw Theatre in Carlow on 5th May 2011 will be broadcast beginning with an introductory feature documentary telling the story behind the opera 'Shelter me from the Rain'.

The radio series produced by Athena Media was a finalist in the national PPI radio awards in October this year. The project also won the community category in Business to Arts Awards and was the first time such a project was ever undertaken by a local authority in Ireland.
