Stand Strong, Stand Together

When all hope is demolished.

And you feel like giving up.

Stand Strong, Stand Together!

When everything you do,

Fells like it’s not good enough,

And the walls feel like they’re tumbling down.

Stand Strong, Stand Together!

People shouting, children crying,

It’s too late to stop this now.

This is just a game of greed!

Stand Strong, Stand Together!

When will anyone learn that war never helps?

It comes at much too high of a cost.

What could we do to stop?

Stand Strong, Stand Together!

Difference

Laughing, sneering, punching

painful kicking, violent insults,

Because they’re different.

Hard slaps, pushed, down to the ground

Because they’re different.

Pulls himself up crying, begging

for salvation, shoved back down again,

Because he’s different.

Teasing and scowling,

jeering and scoffing,

brutal insults

tear us apart

Because she’s different.

Crutches thrown aside

she stumbles and falls

down to the ground.

But not today –

Today,

We stand together

Because we are all different.

Inside

Everybody watches you,

Some don’t empathise,

About your disability or skin,

You may be different, but that’s all right.

They come to kick dirt in your face,

Or to call you cruel names,

To tell you you’re a disgrace,

But what they tell you is never alright.

Because

Day night,

Black white

We are all the same.

Everybody watches you,

But they are one, not many.

They tell you to worry about who you are,

You may be different, but that’s alright.

The come to kick dirt in your face,

But keep dreaming, ‘cause you’re worth it,

It’s great to be different,

Individual and unique.

Dark light,

Low high,

Inside, everyone is the same.

Everybody watches you,

You try to hide inside of your fear.

You rise and fall everyday,

You may be different but that’s alright.

They come to kick dirt in your face,

To break your heat,

To tell you you’re a disgrace,

But what they tell you is never alright.

Day night,

Black white,

We are all the same.

Dark light,

Low high,

Inside we are all the same.

Real

We see pictures and letters,

But it will never be real.

People tell stories,

But it will never be real.

You’ll see people who’ve been there,

But it will never be real.

You’ll see places ruined,

But it will never be real.

You’ve been to museums,

But it will never be real.

You’ve seen artefacts,

Now it feels real.
