Stand together poems 2

A Knock on the door
A Knock on the door
A click on the locks
A family lie on the floor
As still as rocks.
Death eyes its raid
The handle turns
It wields a blade
The families’ blood churns.
A plea for help
Echoes through the air
But no help
Is offered there.
And all around is silence
As wailing moonlight edges into the still home
The house is empty
A bare brick dome.
A plea for help
Echoes through the air
But no help
Is offered there.
The path is dry
The floor is cracked
As lugubrious notes
Echo through the sombre sky.
Why did this happen?
What was Hitler’s gain?
Why did all those lives?
Succumb to a world of pain?
Death cackled and turned,
It knelt in the graves
As the victims burned
In a flame of rage.
There was nothing to see
No bodies to weep
No blood to see
No food to reap.
A plea for help
Echoes through the air
But no help
Is offered there.
But history will never repeat
Wars will never re-occur
If we stand together
Strong together.
Jump, Ester!
I am standing on the windowsill,
“Jump, Ester”, I’m thinking.
You do not have anything left
They are all gone
Three brothers and one sister
Granny.
And now also mamma and papa.
“Jump, Ester!”
I’m saying loudly.
No one cares
And you know it.
“Jump, Ester! Come on!”
It's a high building, there is no way to stay alive,
Just if superman will come, save my life
Like in the stories that papa told me.
Just superman and God,
But after all this
I do not believe there is a God.
He let my family go.
“Jump, Ester!”
All right, that's it
Goodbye everyone.
“Jump, Ester!”
Ready? Three…two…one…
“No!”, I heard mamma’s voice.
No, no it’s impossible.
Mamma is dead, I don't really hear her.
“You’re dreaming, Ester!”
It’s not mamma that’s calling me...
“Alte, it’s me!”
That voice in my head is so real.
The mamma in my head calls my real name
Only she knows.
“I was saved Alte, I was saved!”
Is it possible? Mamma is alive?
I turned around and….
She was there! She is there!
My mamma! She is saved!
People hurt people killed
People hurt people killed
People always getting billed
Not respecting the world we have today
People making fun of being gay
Arresting Jews and black people for no reason
Not arresting whites for doing treason
Why are people being so mean
Making people see this horrible scene
Everyone always making so much drama
People wanna act like what they see in the cinema
Bombing towns and killing people
Saying nasty things and being so brutal
Factories just stop polluting smoke
Someday we will start to choke
Why do people make these terrorist attacks
Let’s just all relax
Just put down your gun and knife
And let’s all just live a good life
We still got a lot to live for
So let’s stop this war
It's like we want the world to end
Let’s try fix this and start to mend
Let’s just work together
And let’s be friends forever
Look
Look.
Look at the little boy,
Crying in his sister’s arms
In failed comfort,
And she’s still too young herself.
Look.
Look at the family,
Cowering in the attic,
Just waiting to be discovered,
By that fateful knock on the door.
Look.
Look at the people,
Friends, families, strangers,
All crammed in,
On the long road to death.
Look.
Look at the soldiers,
Their guns held stiff by their sides,
They didn’t have a choice,
They are prisoners.
Look.
Look at the boy,
Look at the family,
Look at the people,
Look at the soldiers,
Look at yourself,
Think.
