The Damaging War

When the war damages me

I hope to find a home

When the war damages me

My life was demolished

When the war damages me

I feel alone and down

When the war damages me

I need help

When the war damages me

I search

When the war damages me

I don’t feel like myself

When the war damages me

My world flips upside down

When the war damages me

My sadness runs down my face

When the war damages me

I hug my teddy bear

When the war damages me

I think, I don’t deserve this

When the war damages me

I think, how did this start?

When the war damages me

I think, I’m only a child?

When the war damages me

I’m lost.

Remember When

Remember when

The forest and fields were green and lush

Remember when

The troops marched in and destroyed it all

Remember when

We had cities standing before us

Remember when

All was obliterated

Remember when

We could parley freely

Remember when

We kept all thoughts to ourselves

Remember when

All religions were welcome

Remember when

Not all religions were respected

Remember when

Houses stood proudly lining the streets

Remember when

All was reduced to rubble

Remember when

Our world had liberty

Remember when

Freedom wasn’t valued

An Act of Kindness

An act of kindness

When the war started

An act of kindness

When I had to wear the Star of David and you were still my friend

An act of kindness

When I lost my home and you stayed with me

An act of kindness

When I was crying and you comforted me

An act of kindness

When I lost my family and you hugged me tight

An act of kindness

When you were with me till the very end
