Carrer d'Escuder

I was in the barceloneta, near the beach. Joe, our teacher, had just set us loose for an hour plus to walk down to the beach and explore the area. I turned from the square and walked down carrer d'escuder. I heard a sweet singing and wanted to see where it was coming from. When I rounded the corner, I stopped and watched quietly. In the alleyway across from a laundromat, an older, wandering woman was singing up to the people on their terraces in the apartments above. No instrument but herself, her voice was haunting; strong but edged with a plea. When she was done, she asked the apartment dwellers, her captive audience, to help her family. My mic could not pick up the sound of coins falling in the street. #storytelling
