In march, President Salva Kiir Mayardit directed the Minister of Finance and Planning to pay the withheld ten years constituency Development Fund(CDF) arrears to the National Members of Parliament to enable them fund Projects in their respective constituencies.
The CDF was established through the Act of Parliament in 2007 to enable the MPs to directly fund projects identified in their constituencies.
Before the 2013 crisis, many concerns were raised over the utilization of the funds by some members of the parliament, how can the implementation of the CDF be made more effective and meet the desired impacts on communities.
In this episode of the weekly Miraya's peorgramme Sani Martin welcomed the Chairperson of Constituency Development Fund Peter Lomude, Executive Director of CEPO Edmond Yakani, and Abraham Kuol Nyuon, Dean, School of Social and Economic Studies University of Juba.
