Native filmscapes - Storytelling and film

Episode 5,   Oct 05, 2023, 09:20 AM

Listen to filmmakers Elle Sofe Sara, Elle Márjá Eira and Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers discuss their experiences in filmmaking, and what it means to be a contemporary indigenous filmmaker.

Native filmscapes was recorded during the indigenous film conference held at the heart of Sámi film, the International Sámi Film Institute this fall. On the last conference day, our producer Inga Márjá Utsi met up with three sámi filmmakers who all carry unique insights to what it means to transform indigenous stories to a film format and how it is to be a Sámi and indigenous filmmaker in the field. The result being an episode full of reflections about the current «wave in Sámi film».

Thank you to all our guests:

Elle Sofe Sara (Coreographer and director)

Elle Márjá Eira (Artist and director)

Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers (Director, actor and producer)
