Roundtable: The Impact of Conflict on Food Security and Livelihoods

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) conducted an assessment to study the impact of conflict on food security and livelihoods.

The assessment covered Central Equatoria, Jonglei, Unity, Upper Nile, Warrap and Western Bahr El Ghazal states, and in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area. 

The study was conducted to generate policy and conflict-sensitive programming recommendations to inform decision-making and strengthen resilience to shocks and stresses in a conflict and gender sensitive way. 

The number of people classified as acutely food insecure (IPC Phase 3 and above) is likely to increase to 7.1 million (56 percent of the population

How can this food insecurity which is being driven by the surging shocks including conflict and insecurity, macro-economic crisis caused by the depreciation of the local currency, high inflation, conflict in the Sudan be addressed by both the government and the partners.
