Episode 7370,   Apr 08, 07:47 PM

RadioStPete INSIDER correspondent Jordan Kalajian interviewed Patrick Arthur Jackson, Manager of Education, Outreach and Program Design at The Woodson Museum. On April 11 @6pm, the public is invited to attend the free screening of Chronicles of Color Underground History,  documentary film project designed to explore connections between St. Petersburg’s diverse cultural history and emerging community efforts to acknowledge the past in charting the future. The film considers the links between the history and remaining archaeological sites of the region’s Indigenous Ancestors, the displaced contemporary African American communities and erased Black cemeteries, and the historic waterways that once created connectivity for these places and people. The event will provide an opportunity for discussion with the filmmakers and project advisors, as well as exploration of ideas for on-going engagement in community efforts around St. Petersburg’s history, archeology, and cultural heritage. About The Woodson Museum: The museum presents the historic voice of this St. Petersburg, Florida community from the perspective of local, regional, and national history, culture, and community. It is another demonstration of the commitment to revitalize the Midtown St. Petersburg area. The museum joins Mercy Hospital at the Johnnie Ruth Clarke Health Center, the Royal Theater Boys and Girls Club, and the renovated Manhattan Casino as evidence of the renaissance of this area. FYI: 2240 Ninth Ave S in downtown St. Pete https://woodsonmuseum.org  #woodsonmuseum #stpete #stpetefl #tampabay #radio #radiostpete #nanettewiser
